Tries very hard to teach but does not know how. Teaches in a way that nobody can understand or follow. Gives out many quizzes and tests. Generous grading, not helpful outside class. Very boring class with no involvment, if you are good at math though you can just turn up and fall asleep in the back. Dont take if you struggle with math
His teaching doesn't come across clear enough. The class is boring and seems longer than what it is. He goes a little to fast for the class. Needs to work on clearly teaching that will come across clear.
I'm not someone who is naturally good at Math so a good teacher is important. He explained things very well and gave lots of examples. He was even willing to meet with students outside of class if they needed extra help. He does do in class quizzes, so attendance is important.
Mr. Keating is very willing to help one learn. He has a very real understanding of the subject matter. Seemed to get a touch frustrated a few times, but it was from questions that were a little elementary. He has a great attitude that produces a positive learning envirnment. A calculator is not mandatory, but it helps.
I took this professor after being out of school for over 15 years and he was very helpful and made sure the students understood the math problems. He gave a quiz after each chapter which helps you learn the material better. You can use your notes to take the quizzes. If he is still teaching, I would highly recommend him.
Professor Keating is an okay teacher. He has a roundabout way of doing things. Sometimes he tries to be funny and no one laughs, but he is friendly. Don't ask for extensions, he gets really angry. Tests are a bit frustrating but passable. Homework is easy. He is an okay teacher.
He is very helpful and his class is easy! I had him for precal and he always made sure everyone understood what he was teaching. He does give homework after each class but it is helpful to study for your test. I would recommend this professor!
A wonderful teacher. Explains really well with examples and tests are definitely passable. I would HIGHLY recommend this professor!
He really is a good teacher i got a C in that class but thats because i wasnt even trying but he helps you understand all of the material and will help you on the homework if you need so, he will also stay after class for a little bit and answer a question that you have about the material. he made my day with his humor and you can just tell that he
Doesn't really know how to teach the material past the basic stuff. He regularly made a fool of himself in class because he didn't know what to do or how to get the answer. Tons of homework. Lots of quizzes and just a few tests. His study guides are vague and are basically just a huge list of problems that are never on the tests. Do not take him.
I had to study a lot for this class. There is a lot of homework but it helps when it comes to quizzes and test. YOur lowest Quiz grade is dropped and your final replaces your lowest test grade. The grading scale is different. I should have made a D in the class but with his grading it was a B. I would recommend him.
Mr.Keating is such a great guy because he is very energetic about the material, drops alot of hints for test and quizzes, and is the most HELPFUL teacher!! I promise you I was literally in his office atleast 1 out of 2 of his office hrs. per week. He is always available for help. Nice grading scale. You do have to study hard but its worth it! TAKE!
I took him for Calc, and Precal. Precal was SUPER easy with him. Calc is NOT. He teaches off of powerpoints and they are hard to understand. The tests are also hard. The only good thing about this class is the way he grades. It is easy to make atleast a C on everything. He gives lots of homework and quizzes. Book is not mandatory, but my MathLab is
There really isn't a good way to prepare for his test. They are very difficult. Formulas must be memorized. He wants you to know the info inside and out. His weekly little quizzes kept me stressed out constantly.
Keating is EXTREMELY boring. He gives quizzes every week so you're constantly worried about grades and you barely have time to focus. He sweats a lot too and his sweat stains constantly distracted me from the boring power points he reads from. I attended every single class and still made a C.
Professor Keating wants you to succeed! He is ALWAYS in his office, and willing to meet whenever your schedule permits (even weekends). His tests are straight forward. You need to attend class to keep up. You present homework problems in class. The class is not fast paced. He does not teach from the book, but homework comes from it and mymathlab.
ok teacher, kinda nice and he tries. He's always available to help, which is great, haven't ever gone tho, 2 jobs etc. Tests are hard, homework is mymathlab so you can get 100. Test show up in powerpoints which are available beforehand. Goes too fast.
Love Professor Keating. Granted, Calculus is no easy task, but this professor is one of the most committed on campus. He wants you to succeed just as much as you do and will practically meet with you at any time. He was an interesting lecturer and kept us engaged. Lots of opportunities to improve your grade but you must practice daily. TAKE HIM!!!
He gives quizzes every week, but he is extremely helpful and is willing to answer questions. I would recommend him.
Amazing teacher. Pop quizes for every unit. Tests really easy. I made above 95 on all of the tests. Really helpful and counts the hws as extra credit
Very hard class, and I failed, but in his defense I'm horrible at any and all math courses. He is very willing to help after class and answers emails fast. His tests and quizzes are hard and his powerpoints are hard to understand but he gives you chances to ask questions.
Mr. Keating is extremely helpful and wants you to succeed in his class; in my class he gave us the chance to get 10 points added to our grade by doing homework. He also curved the final, helping me notch an A.
He's an okay teacher. He's really easy. Really. He's gives you the chance to earn 10 extra points on your final grade. His tests are all generally easy. If you want an easy grade in Calc 1, I'd take him.
Best math teacher I've ever had. There's no way you cannot understand what he wants because he is so clear. This guy is born to teach and knows what he is doing. The class may seem "easy" but that's just because he teachers effectively.
he is the best math teacher ever. he is patient, helpful and on top of all, he wants you to be successful. his office is open and he is available for all of his students 7 days a week. he answers emails very quickly even if you send them late or in the middle of the night. he is awesome.
Wonderful teacher for a difficult course. Makes himself available and is always willing to help. Gives you ample opportunity to bring your grade up, and the tests are all short answer so he can grade on a "how well do you know the concept" instead of right/wrong answer.
This man is simply the BEST MATHS TEACHER EVER. CASE CLOSED!!!!!!!
This man is simply the BEST MATHS TEACHER EVER!!!!! CASE CLOSED!!!!?
Nice! HW is MYMATHLAB online! Tests are ok! gives you ll of his prior tests so you can see what it's like, but creates a new test! Drops lowest test grade and gives extra credit up to ten points on one exam. Class: Attendance: 10% cant miss over 5 hw: 20% tests 45% final 25%. I hated the way how he taught and wish he would teach material not HW!
Professor Keating is the bomb.com!!!! Really, the only reason I even got a C was faults on MY part, he gives the class so many opportunities and he is always willing to help. MyMathLab is frustrating, but it can seriously help your grade. DO AS YOU'RE TOLD and you will have a great grade in this class.
Keating is a great teacher &above all else he CARES deeply about your success. There's only so much a teacher can do to balance the necessary math needed to go on to Calc 2, and still keep the math easy for those who need only Calc 1. Fair, Clear, Available 24/7, encourages office hrs. for extra help if needed. Do YOUR part and make an A no excuse.
greatest professor everrrr
Would definitely recommend! He goes out of his way to help his students and make sure that they get it- if you fail this class, it is YOUR fault! He gives plenty of examples and homework which is not required- exemplary effort on his part!
I love prof. Keating!!! Hands down one of the best Math teachers at KSU. He wants you to know the material, but also wants you to pass his class- there’s a huge difference! If you do the HW you’ll be fine on quizzes. He grades well if you know what you’re doing...HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Keating is an AMAZING math teacher. He switches up grading policy for every semester based on class grades and whatnot. Homework is not graded but you need to do at least some of it to do well. He gives pop quizes, but is a GREAT teacher. Highly recommend for anyone. He is clear and gives examples for everything and has a bunch of office hours
The class itself is difficult. Keating does his best to help you understand it. He did a great job! Loves to give partial credit and doesn't expect you to be a math wizard. He assigns math homework through MyMathLab, but allows unlimited tries to answer the questions. I highly recommend him!
I seriously don't know how he's gotten good reviews so far. This class was miserable and he acts like everyone is stupid and he is a genius. I've seen him yelling at students multiple times and I can't stand how rude he is, even during his office hours. I love math and he seriously ruined it for me.
Wonderful professor. Plenty of opportunity for help and encourages students to come to him with questions. Gives partial credit for test questions even if you get the wrong answer. Lots of quizzes & he drops your lowest grades. HW is through CalcPortal. System is awful but he's very understanding of tech issues. Makes calculus as easy as it can be.
I had taken Calculus in high school and I have to say if I didn't learn it before I took his class I would be very confused. He will help you if you go to office hours but does not like to spend a lot of class time answering questions. He does give extra credit and you get unlimited tries on hw.
I don't know how Keating has gotten any thing better than a 0 in ratings. He is a tough teacher that teaches with little to no clarity. Not helpful, also very arrogant about his class. Class is number one priority, no matter what. A death in the family is not an excused absence(I know from experience). I don't recommend him.
This class was one of the toughest I have taken, moreso of the material rather than the professor. Keating was great with helping students and gave enough practice material to help master the topic we were covering. There are many ways to gain extra credit on tests outside the class. I recommend Keating and would take him again if I could.
Encourages you to ask questions, and then acts like your question was stupid in front of the whole class. Lectures are fast and unclear. I am a math major and would not advise taking his class.
I loved Professor Keating. He made an 8am calculus class seem like the best thing ever. Laid out everything you need in the lectures. Goes over homework questions but you have to attempt ALL of them. Go to the test review sessions! Best help on tests that you'll get! You get the grade that you work for.
Took this as an online class, and he pretty much left us to our own devices. If we had a question though, no matter how dumb it may have seemed, he would answer it. Definitely take advantage of the extra credit he offers, as it is about half a letter grade. Some homework seemed complicated for the sake of being complicated, so be prepared to work.
Regular homework helps prepares you for exams and the quizzes were similar to the homework questions. I was hesitant to take an online calculus class but would definitely take it again with Professor Keating. I found completing all the homework and old practice exams prepared me well for his exams. He offers great feedback & is quick to respond.
Paying attention and studying the materials given is the way to go. never used the book because of his practice exams and power points.
Great professor! Really cares about each student's success in this very hard course. Very passionate, which can come off as a little mean or harsh sometimes but it's all out of the good!
I took his online class, he provides practices problem and also study guide for finals. the only problem i had was the final, its worth 300 pts and you have to come on campus to take it. best professor for calc.
If taking online, get ready to TEACH YOURSELF EVERYTHING. I've taken online classes before and those professors at least posted their lecture videos. This professor does nothing but post online. If I didn't need this class ASAP, I would drop until next semester. Make youtube and khan academy your friends because you will need them.
I don't know what this professors problem was this semester! He did not teach us anything at all. You were basically on your own. Posted lecture slides that did not have anything to do with the homework we were working on. He encourages you to ask questions after the fact, but when you do he is very rude in his response.
Doesn't Teach, lectures through video and refuses to lecture in class for which we paid for. Classroom smells like cheese, and so does his attitude
Professor Keating knows his material, but is very arrogant in expecting you to already know the material he tries to cover, resulting in very poor instruction. Be hesitant not to "bother him" during before class hours. I was yelled at because of this and was later apologized to. Totally unacceptable. The class is taught as if you are a math major.
Keating is a great guy and always willing to listen and help. However, he seemed under prepared for this class as it was his first time teaching it.
Spends the first 3/4 of class talking about previously due material, answers homework questions, then poorly explains the days material in a mad rush. Frequently talks too much without getting to the point and causes the daily worksheets to feel rushed.
Forces you to watch these 2 to 3 10 to 12 min videos and somewhere in the video he will post questions that you have to bring to class for credit. He goes over that question for most of class then with 30 mins left he gives you new material you goes over for like 10 mins and rushes you to get done in 30 mins or less then grades you hard. AVOID!!.
This class is really great! He does this thing called "flipping the classroom" where you watch videos before class and ask questions on them in class. You also work out problems in class with a group and can ask him questions. He makes Calculus 1 easy.
You WILL be teaching yourself ALL the material, do not take! Does two example problems and expects you to master the content. Spends all of class time talking about things like syllabus and how he grades, and then gives 2 and 3 page worksheets in the last 20 minutes expecting them to be fully completed.
You watch pre-recorded lectures beforehand, and then turn in homework based on the topic at the beginning of class. He then goes over the topic briefly, then passes out group worksheets for a grade. Caculus is hard, no matter what professor you choose. In the end, it was my prelecture questions and worksheet grades that got me a passing grade
the course was tough and be ready to do a lot of studying on your own. reminds me of a hybrid course even though it wasn't due to professor making you watch videos before class. video was suppose to teach you what they will go over in class and once class starts he would do a few question then have you do group work. easy to fail if you slack off.
Please don't take this course. The way he grades is awful, it's as if he doesn't give you a chance to help your grade! There are "checkpoints" or tests he gives and you have to get Mastery on it, which means you have to GET EVERY SINGLE TO THE T PART CORRECT.
Nothing
If you do not know Calculus by osmosis, do not take this professor. Is hateful to students when asked a question. Acts like one explanation should be sufficient. I literally walked out of class and withdrew in the hallway after the last time he snapped at one of the young men in my class. Took Ms. Chandler, made a B.
Keating has good intentions, but he is horrible. He makes you watch videos before class that you're supposed to learn that day's lesson from, but the videos aren't great as far as teaching. You have multiple opprotunities at what he considers test, but problems can only be solved his way. Don't recommend unless you're a self directed learner.
He is a really good teacher, ACTUALLY teaches, wish I put more effort in the beginning. His grading for tests is crazy but ultimately makes it less stressful. get X,P,M (Progress, Master) u master x amount of problems from each leaning target & get to reattempt LTs the whole semester & 2 papers, HW helps. use symbolab com , SAVED MY GRADE
Good professor if you ask questions. He relies too much on this website to teach you, so if you need an actual lecture i dont recommend.
If you're taking his Probability class, I recommend that you just skip class and read the book. It's much more effective at teaching the material than he is. As long as you read and show up for tests, you'll probably pass. It's an easy class but he makes everything seem much harder than it actually is with his unnecessarily long lectures.
I genuinely feel like this Prob/Stat class was a waste of time. Not because of the professor because he was fine, but rather I know the material discussed in this class is irrelevant (stat department wanted to be relevant...). Go to class and do the homework in-class while he lectures; easier to teach yourself material. Graded 100% from test only.
So much work for a 3 hour class.. Kenneth was okay, but I basically taught myself the material; his lectures were not good for me. Such a useless class for so many. :/
It was his second semester teaching 2332 and I felt he did a good job. His notes are clear and give all the info, so it is really is not necessary to read the book. Test questions come from the homework which is not mandatory, but if you do the homework the class is an easy A.
Professor Keating did not do much teaching whatsoever. He let the online homework do all of the teaching which was unfortunate for students because the material was difficult to learn just from 3 practice problems. Very bad teacher for hands on learners.
Keating's class was good but not great. He admits to not being a statistician, which is fine except for the lectures being kind of boring. He's a nice guy but doesn't seem very interested in the subject. On the other hand, there is so much extra credit. 4 tests, each with 110 available pts, the final is out of 120. Nice guy, boring class, easy A.
The professor is very nice and helpful. As long as you KEEP UP WITH THE MODULES you will be fine. Professor Keating is very good about sending out reminders. But ultimately you are responsible for doing the work. There are study/practice guides You do before each test they are helpful so try to do those too & be prepared to pay for a few proctors.
He's a solid choice for Data Analysis. The entire class is just AP Statistics. AP Stats is harder than this course. His grading is very lenient and gives out 10 bonus points each test. Show up and do the clicker questions. They help out. Nice guy. Good professor, but if you took AP Stats, be prepared to be a little bored.
Mr. Keating is a professor that genuinely cares about mathematics, but I would never recommend taking him, especially for an online class. Very tough grader who was very rude when you need help. Did not enjoy having him as a professor. I do not think he runs his online classes well at all. Be ready to spend 30+ hours a week learning calculus.
I hate to be so blunt, but he was a micromanager. It's a teach yourself type of class. You only go to class to complete a worksheet he emails you a few hours beforehand. He floods you with emails DAILY. The video lectures he post are not helpful. He post his own power points that YOU are required to teach yourself.
Prof. Keating is actually a good teacher- if COVID wasn't a thing. He does have the option to come to class, but he doesn't actually teach anything. He just gives you a worksheet to do. Instead, he gives you links to pre-made videos (not by him) so you can teach yourself. Expect to spend several hours a day teaching yourself and doing homework.
Do your hw each week and thoroughly go through the practice tests and you will get an A. Also gives out a lot of extra credit.
Professor Keating is a must-take. He is very good at explaining each topic compared to other calc 2 professors and will work with you if you are having trouble with a certain topic. He has a quiz every class day WHICH is a question from the HW and is very accessible outside of class. His grading is very fair and will give you valid feedback. Take!
Really solid choice for Calc 2. Keating is a genuinely nice guy who cares about his students learning. He's a good lecturer and grades generously, just do your homework and you'll be fine.
Great teacher!
Keating is a great choice for a Calc professor. He genuinely cares about your grade and will work with you to improve it. He also really helps you before the exam and is almost always available outside of class. Don't slack on his homework though, they are very easy but it could be a lot to do the night before. Just take him if he's available.
Overall he was not terrible but wasn't amazing either. Had 2 HW each week. Taught off of PowerPoint which wasn't great for me but it may work for others. Gives study guides that are exactly like the exams. Exams are short. Attendance was taken most of the time. Available to help if needed. If you miss class, you won't be able to see the lecture.
A great teacher hes great at explaining the material but I just dont like how we couldnt use calculators and every test was on paper with no calculator, just your brain. overall this is a great teacher to take because hes good at teaching the material and helping you understand it. the tests are strictly based off aleks so dont cheat yourself
Professor Keating is a great teacher. I love the way he teaches and how he explains everything. We had homework due every week, but it's not hard at all. He does post all his notes and the calendar of what we'll be doing over the semester. He does get off track sometimes but overall, he's a great professor. I'm taking his Math1113 class next year.
Average Professor. He will help if you reach out. Tests were not too hard but there is a lot of homework. If you do the homework you get a really good grade.
Ken is very passionate about math. He wants his students to pass. If you don't show effort or just photomath everything, he knows and won't help you. This class isn't that hard if you're good at arithmetic. No note cards, in person tests, no calculator. 5pts extra credit added to final grade if you had good attendance. Brought my 93 to 98.
Class is easy as long as you use the resources built into ALEKS. Participation masters because it can be used as extra credit.
I would highly recommend taking Professor Keating, I took him for both pre-calc and algebra because I liked him so much. His lectures are easy to follow, and the tests are not hard, as long as you do the study guides. There is a lot of homework but it's not too bad. He's always available to help you during office hours or over email, and he's funny
Not accomidating of my learning disabilities and accommodations. Dropped class early.
If you are not 100% amazing with algebra or math in general, take another professor. Had to find other professors for help as he does not help at all. 1-2 sections of hw, 12-20 questions with multiple parts. Up to 5 extra points at end of semester if you show up to class and participate. Cool guy but cannot teach those who need more help.
Bad anger issues. One time during class repeatedly hit the whiteboard yelling at us. Should have just taken an online class at this point because everything was through ALEKS except tests. Very boring, hard to focus in his lectures. Wouldn't recommend.
Not terrible, but not great. anger issues central. If the class isn't participating he starts yelling at us and even results to hitting the wall very aggressively out of frustration. No remorse if you miss an assignment. Learned basically everything through ALEKZ. Class itself is easy if you've taken highschool Algebra.
Lectures are taught through PowerPoint slides and videos posted online to help aren't that helpful. You get a better education out of searching youtube videos than sitting in class. Has gotten mad at the class before and cursed at us for not completing a homework assignment. The class consists of a collective HW grade, 3 tests, and the final exam.
He has bad anger issues, cusses at you, hits the wall. Grades really strict for simple mistakes. Does not offer lots of help (says he does but when you go to get help he makes you feel like an inconvenience). He only has 3 tests and one final, no quizzes so those are your only hope. The lectures don't help at all and are confusing. DON'T RECOMMEND!
Keating was fine. Mixed feelings about whether to take again or not. It took me a bit to get adjusted to how he teaches and how it reflects into the tests. Lots of aleks, very few tests. He does add extra credit based on participation which is basically just going to class and doing the in-class assignments.
He is a really good professor However He thinks he class should be most important over everything. Tthere are at least two homework a week and he has a quiz every single day Even after exams He lets no note cards and he gets mad if the class average is below 90 on the homework he feels the need to talk about it for the first 20 minutes of class
Dr. Keating is an excellent professor. Explains things well, gives real-world examples, gets excited when students ask questions, passionate about math. come to class because he does review quizzes at the beginning of class. Gets frustrated when the class doesn't do the homework and wants everyone to do well. Would take him for calc 2 and further.
He's not the worst but definitely not the best either. If you're not a math person, you should probs enroll with a different prof. Tests are worth 60% of your final grade, final exam is worth 20%. He likes to go on random tangents about his personal life and gets passive aggressive when asked for help with problems on in-class worksheets.
Professor Keating cares about math, but he's quite passive aggressive. I would recommend you not take him if you struggle even a little in math. He constantly gets mad about homework not being done early for some reason. This is the worst grade I've ever gotten and I would look into someone else if possible.
professor keating made me feel dumb whenever I asked questions and never answered any of my emails ever. our last test had 26 failing grades
Tests are worth 20%, homework is 15%, quizzes make up 5%, and a 2% bonus if you have good participation. The tests are very similar to study guides so just learn the study guide, but I don't recommend you take calc with him unless you want to teach yourself the entire class. Also he is very passive aggressive when answering student's questions.
Try not to take this professor if possible. He gets mad and goes on rants about people not doing good on homework or asking questions, but then he is passive aggressive when answering questions. Last test over 2/3 of the class failed. If you take him be prepared to teach yourself the course. An A is possible tho if you just study a ton.
This professor was very condescending. He does not post lecture notes online afterward and expects you to attend every class. If you do not know someone in the class or have some prior knowledge of calculus, you will not pass his class.
For some unknown reason, he does not post the solution to the lecture questions online after the lecture. God forbid if you don't write down absolutely everything on the premade slides, which he decided not to post, because you will confused. Dodge this professor.
Professor Keating is a very difficult professor. I am only passing because I have prior knowledge from calc in high school. I studied for 7 hours before a test and still barely understood the material on the study guide, but it was nothing as difficult as the homework or study guide. He is very passive aggressive and sassy while teaching.
If you are not good at Calc do not take avoid at all cost
Take another professor if you can. Doesn't work out problems at all. Simply looks at a powerpoint and points at it while barely explaining the problems. Not very nice and extremely condescending. Talks about how busy he is all the time as if his students aren't working and juggling multiple classes at once.
Even though attendance and homework makes up 35% of your grade the 3 tests he gives out are ridiculously difficult. Homework barely prepares you for it and the notes give basic knowledge which is helpful. Tries to be forgiving when grading but the test are so difficult to answer that all you will get credit for is writing the equation only.
He explains things very well. Tests are hard but you're allowed a notecard and the final is optional. He gives great feedback but attendance is for a grade.
Prof Keating's class was fine. I didn't mind his lecture style too much and the content wasn't incredibly hard, but his attendance policy is ridiculous. He makes attendance such a large part of your grade and if you're even 6 minutes late to his 8 am class he will mark you absent. Doesn't care if you commute or if busses are late and is annoying.
I like the way Mr. Keating does his lectures; he posts the lecture notes on D2L so you can print them or download them to your device and follow along. I will also say that any bad grade I've gotten has simply been a lack of effort on my part. In regards to his attendance policy and attitude, he just seems tired and is doing his best.
Decent professor when it comes to lectures and teaching the content, but what he doesn't do well is prepare you for exams and sometimes the homework. His study guides are terrible, he just gives you text book pages that have practice questions on them, so a study guides will be about 100+ questions and won't prepare you well at all.
Professor K was awesome! His lectures were straightforward, and he posted the PowerPoint on D2L so you could follow along with him. The class is made up of homework on ALECS and three tests. The tests are exactly like the study guides on ALECS and you're allowed a flashcard for every test. Con was that attendance was mandatory, so avoid 8 ams.
The professor has a nasty attitude that makes the classroom environment uncomfortable. He's often rude and dismissive, which makes it difficult to ask questions or engage in class. It's hard to focus on learning when the instructor is so unapproachable. Do not take this guy!
His class was very difficult, don't even think about coming even a little bit late as he will count it as an absence. This professor is very rude, sassy, and snarky. He gets mad very easily, which you can notice as his face turns red. Tried coming to him for help and it felt like he was yelling at me the whole time. Please AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Gives good lectures they are clear and organized. Be prepared for a decent amount of homework on ALEKS. I would take him again.
He was a good teacher , and is always available for extra help if you need it. He talks pretty fast and waste no time. So when you get their be ready to learn.
I don't know why people say he has an attitude or that he's rude, but completely he's the opposite. The guy makes corny math and football jokes, so he's pretty cool. The class is hard because it's Calculus, but he makes his tests and lectures pretty straightforward. Also took him for 1111, so I know that if you just work, you'll get an A in here.
Sit by someone you like because a lot of partner work. Was pretty nice but I thought that the lectures were hard to follow. 2 assignments due a week, both on Aleks, start early and stay consistent. Tests were always less than 20 questions with partial credit. Not a bad guy just thought the class wasn't interesting.
He doesnt allow makeups. He takes attendance at the beginning of class and if you show up a few minutes after he does it he WILL count you absent. 4 modules of homework a week and I was drowning in it. He was nice and had good lectures but outside of class was miserable and attendance was incredibly punctual.
Take ANY other professor if you value your mental health. Hw twice a week, mandatory graded attendance (show up 5 minutes late and he will mark you absent), mandatory group quizzes at the end of each class, and doesn't accept late work. Teaches fast and is hard to ask questions without him sounding demeaning.
Yes he has 2 homework's due each week and he is punctual on your attendance even if you are 3 minutes late he will mark you absent, no excuses. With all the homework, assignments and study hours, you will be able to understand what he was teaching. If you are not willing to put in the hours then I suggest you don't take him. Overall hes an ok prof.
Ken was a good professor, lots of people just find math hard. I took him for 1111 and 1113 and had no issues until Calc 1.
Literally yelled at us over sub-par test scores when he offers no makeups or grade-improvement opportunities. Extremely picky and will take 20+ points off for simple notation issues. Genuinely the first class I've ever had to withdraw from because I was at risk of failing. Not worth having to teach yourself everything outside class. 2+ HW per week.
Actually does not know how to grade. You can miss a negative sign and he'll mark the whole question wrong. Very condescending when you ask him questions. Extremely slow with grading tests gives them back after 2 weeks of continuous dragging. Do not take him
he is very passionate about the topics and the class doing well. sometimes he can be a real jerk to students. he doesn't make the environment super comfortable asking questions because he makes you feel stupid. he tries to make the tests simple, but there is so much homework that is way harder than what you do in class or on tests.
Hard professor, if he has a bad day he makes it known to the entire class. you HAVE to be present for notes.
the most horrible math grader ive experienced. takes chunks of points off for little mistakes or even if you show work but not the correct answer, the whole question will be marked wrong. takes 2+ weeks to grade a 14 question test. dont try asking questions during class
A slow AND strict grader. He takes 2 weeks to grade exams and you'll prob get it back with a notation mistake on every question that he takes off points for. You can tell when he's having a bad day or lacks sleep (he always does, apparently) because he'll be screaming in some kids face at 8 am. PowerPoint heavy and study guides are a waste of time.
If you want to fail and tank your GPA to the low 2.0s, then look no further...Ken Keating is your teacher.
Strict grader AND takes too long to grade the exam. When you ask him questions in the middle of his lecture he will look at you like you're slow. Never give enough time for worksheets. Yells at students. When he has a bad day he will take it out on you :)
if you're wanting to get shamed in this class, be my guest. He takes 2+ weeks to grade any test, then he dogs on the class for asking about the test/ not knowing the material. He'll answer your questions rudely as if hes disappointed that you dont already know it+ makes you look stupid. Save your time and mental health and do not take him
He is horrible. Yells at students, makes you feel stupid for asking questions, and I DO NOT recommend his office hours. He doesn't care if you fail the class. He will shame you for not understanding the material. He is a harsh grader and takes forever to return work. He is always complaining about something and makes it everyone's problem.
It's clear that this professor has no actual interest in teaching. He treats his class like it's the navy and views each and every student like a number to be checked off. He will accuse you, disrespect you and make you feel like a piece of garbage just to fuel his own ego. Do not entertain him and take any of the classes he teaches.
Overall, teaching in class was okay he taught the material fine. But if you asked a wrong question he scolded you for it, also constantly said the class sucked at math. The homework's were also impossible once you get to question 10, study guide are good, plus you dont need to go to class since extra credit is attendance but if you don't you won't pass
Would rather see his students fail then to fix grades and curve tests that majority of his classes fail. Can teach really well but grades really strictly on the littlest of things. decent person but a mediocre professor
