I had a 4.0 until the final and got a 2.8 in the class. It's very easy until the final- NO PARTIAL credit and they are nearly all five part problems (1a, 1b, etc.). Unless you really know the subject, don't take this class.
Quiz problems taken from text wich is good but quiz length is only 1 problem - get it wrong and you fail the quiz!
I havn't finished the class yet but I'de have to say it realy depends on how good at math u r. I love math and I'm really good at it. I thought I was gonna die of boredom but I noticed other students who wern't so great at math and realy liked the class. If you think your good at math or pic stuff up quickly don't take this class.
Homework isn't required, but if you don't do it you'll likely fail. His tests are really hard, he only puts the absolute hardest problems on the test, and the final is worth 50% of your grade. It has 20 questions, 10 pts each, NO partial credit. I don't recommend him unless you're a math genius or test really well.
Never never ever in your life take this teacher. He doesn't give any partial credits in finals. More than half of his class fails.
This was the worst class i have ever taken, DONT ever take it. The final is aweful and he will not help you at all if you have questions. Half of the class dropped out halfway throught the quarter.
50% of your grade is based off the best of three tests. The other 50% is the final (w/out partial credit). Most of class time is spent on using the calculator (and reviewing how to use the calc, and re-reviewing how to use the calc, and re-re-reviewing how to use the calc). Not recommended at all.
very very hard teacher mostly half of his class fails
this guy's fine...he changed...funny, nice, pretty easy...a realtively easy A
Look. The class lectures are boring, no homework, quizes were taken in a group, he throws out one test score, allows a note card, and he actually writes ups his own test. For stats/buscalc he is one of the lesser evils.
Boring but easy class.
Easy class, good instructor, group quizzes, note card on tests. The lectures are boring though
Second time to take class, failed once, aced second time. Go to class. Try hard. DO THE OPTIONAL HOMEWORK. You will pass. 3x5 notecard for tests, how easy is that?? Kenn will work with you if you ask for help, don't worry about his height, he doesn't bite. His bark is louder than his bite. Nice man, professional and SMART! GOOD PROF!
Kenn is an EXTREMELY EASY teacher. The class format is 9 group quizzes (u'll get full credits) and 3 tests ( you'll get to drop the lowest one and they all come from textbook examples)...Final's unbelievable easy. Half of the class got 4.0...

Excellent instructor. Makes difficult material easy to understand. Tests are very similar to homework problems and book examples! That's the key to success. Attend class to learn calculator tricks.
Very good instructor. Always a nice man. Cares about students. Gives encouragement. Examinations are fair and questions are mostly similar to optional homework. Attendance not required, but lectures make learning much, much easier.
Gentle giant. Good man. Sincerely cares about student success. Approaches math from an applied angle rather than theoretical. Highly recommended.
Wonderful instructor! Gives real world examples based on his 15 years of experience as an industrial mathematician. Grades fairly. Really helpful in and out of classroom. Well organized lectures. Really personable!!
Really cool teacher. Other teachers know math because they only go to school and learn it. But he has much real experience using math. He worked many years in mathematics before becoming teacher. He made math very interesting for me. Class was fun. Math makes so much more sense now. He always treat class with respect. Funny man too.
Professor Kullberg is a great teacher! He's intelligent, funny, and real. He really loves his work, and cares about his students success. He's always willing to take the time out of his day to help you so long as you put in the time and effort to be helped. He has the most adorable two kitties, also.
Good Teacher!
Awesome Business Calculus teacher. Explains everything so well. He really helped me to overcome my fear of math. Very recommended!!
Very good calculus teacher. Much patient. He really know how to teach foreign students. Help very good with all students. Funny man. Allow extra credit. Group quizes. Final Exam comprehensive.
If you international student, take his classes. Always patient. Explains math so you can understand even if you have hard time with English. Likes all students. Everyday he is friendly to everyone. Always happy and smiling.
Very supportive. He taught me not to be afraid to make mistakes and to learn from from my mistakes. I appreciate math and my own capabilities now. Very down to earth instructor!! Wants students to succeed in life.
Very interesting class. He brings in many examples and insights from his industrial career. Lectures are very well thoughtout. Textbook is much too wordy and too imprecise, so best to always attend class and get learning mostly from the lectures. Calculator instruction is super.
I took this class almost 4 years ago, but I remember Kenn as a great instructor. This was an intro statistics class. He used lots of real world examples to show how statistics can be applied. He is a very funny, friendly teacher. Highly recommend!
Mr Kullberg was very good. Class was hard. Much classroom time was spent like this: lecture on textbook material, then classroom teams discussing lecture to reinforce understanding about lecture, and then teams working many, many problems in class. Very patient man. Likes "high-fives". Has cool sliderules.
Very Good instructor. Explains things patiently. Gives 3 tests, also weekly quizes, and a Final. Drops lowest test score. Tests and Final are hard. He makes students work together on problems in class.
Great professor. Even gives out his cell phone number to students to call him anytime for help. He made me feel good inside about taking math.
Fine teacher. I took this class before from another instructor and failed it. Mr Kullberg worked with me to give me confidence and overcome my fear of math. This is a wonderful prof who really cares about his students and their problems with math.
eazzy grades based on test scores
I took Kenn Kullberg for Math 150 and 240. I must say he is a very good teacher. If you are stuck on something he will explain it out to you and is very helpful. He also gives good real world examples of why we would use such formulas and equations that we learn in the classes.
Extemely enthusiastic and helpful instructor. An interesting teacher. Makes hard concepts easy to understand. Tests are not easy. Attendance not mandatory. Very good calculator lessons.
I was absolutely petrified about taking statistics. After the first week in Mr Kullberg's class I looked forward to coming to class and actually enjoyed learning stats. He is a marvelous instructor who cares about students and gives down to earth lectures.
I enjoyed his class. He gave good lectures. I liked his examples of graphs, especially the real flight data recorder graphs from an airplane crash landing.
Mr Kullberg explained algebra really well. He's a very good professor. I worked all the examples in the book and also tried as many homework problems as I had time for. I passed his class. His quiz and test questions were similar to examples and homework problems in the book. He helped me whenever I got stuck.
GOOD !!
As a returning student, I always can rely on Mr. Kullberg for humor and encouragement. I highly recommend future students to register this class...as we all know, the seats are hot when Mr. Kullberg is teaching! I completed the quarter with a C+, which was fault on my end...this class is challenging and not like your usual math. Kullberg is the bes
Friendly.
I took him for Business Precalculus, Business Calculus, and Statistics. Awesome teacher - best one for the business series of classes!!
Very funny guy and is really nice but when you go for help to his office its pretty useless he just laughs and doesn't do much to help with your question. His tests arent bad because he lets you get a little credit for redoing the problems but overall not the best teacher his humor can be deceiving.
Mr Kullberg is one of the best instructors at Edmonds. I'm not the smartest math student. If it hadn't been for his help with my homework, I would've never passed this course. He was always pleasant and encouraging, and bent over backwards to help me. Lazy students shouldn't take his class - he will help you as much as you put work into his class.
Prof Kullberg is a compassionate teacher. I have serious problems with math. He worked with me to make sure I passed the class.
He worked a ton of examples in class. Very good prof!! Friendly and sincere.
He is awesome and damn good. I got 4.0 in this class. His personality is terrific and tremendous..... If you are not good in math or not a genius, taking his class and you will get whole bunch of help. Don't be patsy to ask him questions and he sincerely work with you and make sure you comprehended. I would highly recommand you to take his class.
Best instructor for international student as myself. KIND AND VERY PATIENT!!!
Terrific Prof!!!! Really helpful. Treats everyone with true respect and a genuinely caring attitude. Knows stats inside and out. Makes me want to take more stats classes!!
Mr. Kenn always patient. Explains calculus very good. He always smile and happy towards students. I think all international student should take his classes. He so respectful and kind.
Mr. Kullberg is an extremely competent instructor. He likes 2 things- Pens & Planes. He also loves high fives. His knowledge in the subject of stats was developed over a tenure at the Boeing company. He is extremely helpful and highly recommended. In the modern day academic arena, too often you find instructor mediocraty. Not with Kenn, He's stellar
Mr. Kenn is Tops! Very good knowledge and teaching.!
Lighthearted, wonderfulinstructor of applied statistics. Reality based! Very good lectures - many personal experiences from his career at Boeing. Lots of handouts to help us understand statistics. Gave extra credit on tests. Recommended!!!
Mr Kenn is best instructor I have at Edmonds. Like grandfather. Always smile and happy. Soooo helpful. Explains in simple english so I can understand everything. He is my favorite teacher.
I enjoyed this class immensely! Professor Kullberg is a very good instructor and has a great sense of humor. He is also very nice and respectful to every student. He connects most of the course materials to the real world by citing examples from his 15 years of applied statistics experience at Boeing. I'm very glad I took his class.
TAKE HIS CLASS! Dont take any other math teacher if u have the chance to take him instead! 10 quizzes-one question only that you slove as a group! 3 10 question tests that you can rework the probs u miss for xtra points and an OPTIONAL final it just doesnt get any better than Mr. kenn's class!!! (Talks ALOT about career at Boeing though ..zzzzz...)
Interesting class. Not boring. Excellent instructor. Tests 2, 3, and Final Exam were hard. Final was comprehensive. Enjoyed personal examples given by him. He made the class real. Rare to find an instructor who has actually lived what he now teaches. Big "HI 5" for Mr. Kenn.
Very good instructor. Attend class and take notes. His tests are similar to examples in the book, notes, and homework. Work as much homework as you can. He will always help you. You can call him on his cell phone anytime.
best math teacher I had ever...He use will life to make math fun...and group quizes and his promble on the test is homework prombles from the text and does a review to before the test.
Awesome instructor. Wrote strong Letters of Recommendation for me and I got accepted to several Universities. So very friendly and respectful. I called his cell many times for help on homework at night and he helped every time.
Awesome teacher that I have never had... He really has sense of humor and you will love him very much. I'm passionate to get in his class every single day. However, the only thing that might not fit your taste is to be got up early.... If you can get up at 6 a.m. every single day.... Take his class.....
#1 teacher. Best for internationals.
Very good! High 5 to Mr. Kenn :)
I've had Ken for three classes now and every time has been fun, this is my last quarter and I just wanted to thank him for making college better and send out a BIG "HI 5" to him!
I had Mr. Kenn for Intro to stats. He's a very outgoing teacher. He gives simple exams (if you came to class on a consistent basis) and if you did horrible on the exam he lets you do test corrections! The only concern I have is that he's way too easy. If you're considering on learning math in depth don't take him.
My FAVORITE TEACHER in math. Took 3 classes from him. Straight forward lectures and tests. Very, very helpful!! Double Hi 5 :)
This was my first class with Mr. Kenn. His lectures were excellent. He asked if everyone understood what he just said and each student in the class gave a hand signal to indicate "OK" or "Not Ok" It was a cool system for me because he did not move forward in his lecture until everyone understood what he'd aid. BIG HIGH FIVE TO MR KENN!!!
Mr. Kenn is awesome! Stats is extremely hard & he does his best to make it very clear & understandable. The material goes very fast but he doesn't rush through the lecture assuming you've read the material already. He's so easygoing & lighthearted & tells stories to apply stats to real life, making it as enjoyable as a math class could possibly be!
#1 Trig instructor. Thanks Mr. Kenn!!
Very patient with me.
Liked him very much. Clear explanations. Friendly and good nature. Gave me plenty of help - called his cell phone many times. Always helped me. BIGGEST HIGH 5!!!!!!!
Mr. Kenn is great! His lectures are straight forward and he explains every concept clearly. You need to show up to class every day because the book is confusing and Mr. Kenn explains everything. The exams are very fair. Exam questions are straight from the lectures and hw--there are no surprise questions. Also, he is always available for help.
He has all the materials and jokes prepared for his class. If you don't understand something, he thinks that you were not listening or not in class. He doesn't understand why you don't understand. He only uses projector.
Wonderful instructor. Very organized. Tests similar to homework and extra problems he worked in class. Can call him on his cell phone to get help. He doesn't take attendance except for the first week, but couldn't pass class without attending since he focused class on what's important to know. Textbook is very confusing.
I liked his examples from when he worked at Boeing and when he worked in the Air Force. I could remember the material better. Statistics was actually fun to learn. Take him if you can.
Mr. Kenn is good teacher! Helped international students very much to understand. Kind and compassionate man. Very good spirit!
Intro Statistics is very hard! The book is awful, but this instructor is here to help you learn the material and makes it applicable to real life. Very practical applications and interesting stories make class fun as compared to other math 146 classes.
Kenn is a fun guy to joke around with and a very nice guy. However, he reads strait from the book and basically refuses to go over HW. So if you dont understand something your out of luck. He does not seem to understand that some ppl, while good in math, dont get it the first time its explained. His response is that you should work the problems more
Excellent instructor. Tests are patterned after examples in the book and homework. Doing homework is key to good test scores. If you are stuck on homework problem, then you can call him on his cell phone and he will help you. Lazy students should avoid him because he demands a lot. He also gives extra credit on tests. Final exam is optional.
Business precalc was interesting. The chapter on finance calculations was practical and immediately valuable. The instructor was very helpful. Good lectures and plenty of help with homework problems. Made the class real by sharing his personal experiences with this type of math.
"Without data, you're just another opinion!" Hi5 to Mr. Kenn :))
This was a good class. Mr. Kenn is very good instructor and wants students to learn. He purchased statistics books in Chinese out of his own pocket and loaned them to Chinese speaking students so they could study better. Well, I think anybody who takes class from Mr Kenn will learn a lot.
Amazing! A class instructor with real world experience in the subject of statistics!! There are 3 tests. The first is not too hard, but the second (on probability) is tough! The third test (statistical inference)is hard but not like the probability test. Most test material taken from his lecture notes - don't miss class if you can help it!
Mr. Kenn ROCKS!!!! This is great class. My brain hurt from thinking so much. Not like regular math class. Must be able to think, not memorize!
Very fair professor.
Mr Kenn is one of the best professors I've ever had. Simply an awesome class.
Statistics was very difficult class. Fortunately, Mr. Kenn wrote down what he said as he lectured. This made studying after class easier. I could not follow the book very well, but the lecture material was very good and thorough. Do not take this class at the same time as biology or accounting. Mr Kenn covers 26 chapters in one quarter!
Neat class. I learned very much about personal finance calculations. The instructor was very fair and also very helpful. He worked with me outside of class and helped me understand homework problems. Best instructor for international students!
Statistics was grueling subject. I have no talent for math. But I made it though. Mr. Kenn really cared about me and how well I was doing. So very helpful anytime I needed it.
Business precalc wasn't too bad. The hardest test was on log, exponential, and logistic. Teacher held a couple of voluntary problem solving meetings on Saturdays for students who needed extra help. He was easy to contact for help.
Does not grade on a curve.
He is very friendly, but his tests are not easy. He doesn't solve questions of the textbook. The first test is very easy, but other three tesst are very hard. Also extra credits are very unfair. I don't recommend him if you want to get high grade. Only good thing is no homework and no quiz.
Interesting class. Not easy for me. But I take good notes, go all lectures, and work every homework problem five times. I get very high grade. Many lazy students not go to class and not pass.
Intensive class. Mr. Kenn gave good explanations. He presented many, many real-world examples from his work experiences at Boeing, Air Force, and Naval Electronics Laboratory.
Best math teacher I've ever had.
He is very helpful, explains the material well. Homework is not required. There are no quizzes. There are only 3 tests and the final is optional. I recommend taking his class.
Failed it first time, took it again with the same teacher. I blame myself completely, I actually learned a lot more from his lectures than just math. Mr. Kenn is really funny and knowledgeable, I highly respect that man. He takes perfect notes, and absolutely flawless on his explanations. DO YOUR HOMEWORK even though its optional, TRUST ME.
Mr. Kenn not spoon feed you. You want to do well in class, must study hard and use self-initiative. Homework optional -- but this is self-initiative. He always helpful 100%!! I learn how to be successful through my own efforts. I like this teacher!!
Explains statistics very well. Course will be no problem as long as you attend every class (take good notes) and do all homework. High Five to Mr. Kenn!
Tough class!! I did well, but it took a lot of work. Don't miss class!! If you can't take good notes, then maybe you should try different teacher. He was very helpful when I needed help. Very friendly too.
Mr Kenn told class on first day that math is nothing more than rules and how to use the rules. I tried thinking about math that way. It worked for me. I got a great grade. I'm not afraid of math anymore.I like math now.
Stats was a good course. Some parts were easy, but overall this was a difficult class. Instructor uses real world examples in his lectures -- like the Challenger Space Shuttle disaster. He was very knowledgeable about statistics. His explanations were always precise.
I do statistical analysis at my full time job. I took this class for college credit. This instructor is very good. He knows what he's talking about. He focuses learning on mastering the most useful skills necessary to do real-world data analysis, inference, and decision making. I you pay attention in his class -- you'll get your money's worth!!
Mr.Kenn is an awesome teacher! He usually gives lectures about the stuff we need for Business Pre Calculus. Attendance is not mandatory but you still need to come to class when you have tests and group exercises. Do your homework so that you'll get 4.0 for sure.
Mr Kullberg is a positive force. He knows how to get a student out of his/her "box" and into the real world. It is sad to learn that he's decided to quit teaching at Edmonds at the end of the upcoming Fall quarter. He will be at least the third good part time instructor to leave.
Be sure you can take good notes. His lectures are precise and focused. Didn't need book very much. Be sure you learn how to use the calculator. My notes helped my good friend pass in a different teacher's class. You can reach him on his cell phone for help if you need it. Best stats instructor!
Good instructor. Good class.
Very patient instructor. Takes on class overloads. Gives excellent lectures. Tests are fair -- similar to homework problems. Can use foreign language dictionary in class if you need to. Allows for extra credit on Tests 1 and 2. Final exam is optional and can replace your lowest test score (there are three tests). Gives partial credit on all tests.
This class was quite a change from the computer learning I had in M80 and M90. Mr Kullberg was engaging and approachable. He kept me thinking during every class. I liked his lectures -- clear and in simple terms... he explained things well. My experience in his class was a good one.
He is very respectful to all students. Always helpful. He is sensitive to language difficulties that international students can have. He meets with students on weekends if they need extra help. He is a good person.
I took his class because I head many good things about him from my friends. They were right. He was an excellent teacher who cared about me. I learned more than just math in his class. He shared a lot of wisdom. But I think this quarter(Fall 2012)is his last quarter to teach at Edmonds CC.
Great instructor. Shared his real world businesses experiences with Business Math. Made the class real. Sorry to say that he's leaving Edmonds. Wish he would stay.
Tough class. I heard later that about 1/3 of students received below a 2.0 . Instructor was fair -- but tests were hard. I studied about 2.5 hours per day just on this course and earned a good grade. I loved listening to his snippets of wisdom. If you take his class, be sure to concentrate your learning on his notes AND homework!! Everyday!!
Took class last year. Very friendly and caring instructor. Accessible. Good lectures. Attendance not mandatory except during exams. Liked his grading system.
