Avuncular
Cares about his students, cares about his subject. Very funny!
Best teacher at Mcgill

very nice man who makes his material clear. looks like col.saunders
Best prof at McGill. Clear and entertaining lectures. A++
I cannot over empahasize what a good professor this man is.
BEST professor at McGill and Marianopolis!! Who else can beat him?
you know a teacher is a keeper when he makes stats bearable

Excelent teacher! A genius and a walking calculator!Very flexible with regards to exams and a
This man is a national treasure. Will give you free bagpipe lessons. Very avuncular.
A Man-Calculator, makes your life easier and stats fun! Thumbs up!

Excellent excellent Professor--anybody thinking about taking an Economic Statistics class--I highly recommend Prof. Mackenzie. One of the best profs i've had!
Students say that he's Santa Claus, and you know what, I think they're right! Highly recommended.

I'm not a math person. And I LOVE stats. Mackenzie is THE best professor I've had in my time here. He's so jovial and fair, you'll love him, too.
Best prof ever. Looks and marks like santa clause. More stats please!
Best math prof you'll ever have. Knows his stuff inside-out. Will even show you how to use the calculator!
Santa rules, he makes everything so clear in class, and he's very approachable after class as well.
the best teacher at mcgill. santa's the man!!
Do you want to know what Santa's real job? Teaching stats at McGill! Attending at his classes is a real gift!
KMack is the BEST TEACHER EVER!!!!!! I wish i had him for all of my classes!!!
I am not a maths person at all but in both classes he has condensed the notes into very easy and understandable notes , and he is so helpful that you wouldn't get lost in the class unless you were lazy, don't follow and don't go to class.
He's a nice guy, just make sure to read your notes after ea class so that u can retain the info. It's not rocket science but you can easily get confused,so ask questions.Do the practice quizzes on Webct before the quizzes and exams, and know the key terms
A great prof!!!Just go to class and copy all the notes and you are guaranteed an easy mark.
The best, great guy, teaches really well. Highly recommended.
Great prof, very approachable
Easiest teacher I've ever had. He practically begs you to get 100 in his class, we had CHEATSHEETS on the final for pete's sakes. If you don't get 100 in this class you're a moron. They don't call him Santa for nothing. All my friends and I got As.
What an easy course. I can't believe it was one of the electives for engineering students.
He was one of the top professors I ever had.He is so very nice and will help you. He very much cares about his students. PLus, an easy marker with very easy exams.
Professor Mackenzie = Santa. Take his class and you'll understand that 'Santa' goes beyond the beard!! Easy class, easy assignments and the teacher will help you, no text to buy, easy exam if you study a little, an A shouldn't be too hard, hey?
he's the man.
best teacher ever
He has great Teaching skills. Course outline is really fair. I would even consider taking Stats II if he ever teached it in the Summer. Great Stats teacher
Best prof at mcgill. Tries to help you as much as he can. The lectures are as clear as it gets. Mackenzie has also a great sense of humor so I assure you you won't get bored in his lectures!!! Take the course U won't be sorry! I can't imagine graduating from McGill without taking any of MacKenzie's classes. BEST PROFESSOR EVER!!!!
AWESOME!!! He wants you to pass, and witha good grade, he will do anything he can to help, very flexible, very understanding
i love him. such a amazing prof, and he knows all the stuff.
He's a really good prof...All his notes are written on the board. He doesn't go too fast and he's always there to help you. Assignments are not hard and tests are super fair.
He is one of the best professors I have had at McGill. His teaching style is easy to follow and he provides excellent notes. If you attend class and pay attention anyone can do well. It also helps that he genually cares for his students. Great Prof!
He is probably the best stats teacher. He is not flexible with assignments & tests, but is ALWAYS there if you need help. He allows his students a crib sheet for exams, which is VERY thoughtful. EXCELLENT TEACHER, YOU WONT REGRET TAKING HIS CLASS.
Lovely! A very kind-hearted professor.
Amazing professor! He's so helpful and writes everything you need on the board...in full. He teaches at a reasonably slow pace and makes sure that each person in class completely understands. I highly highly recommend taking his classes.
awesome!:)
MacKenzie is by far the best teacher i have ever had in my life for any subject!!!! he is amazing!!!! so helpful and funny!!! anyone who goes to class can get an A very easily, the averages are almost always at least a B+ and almost everyone i know got marks in the 90s consistently. Even if your not in econ major/minor take this class!!!!!
I love this man! He is an amazing professor, always trying to help you succeed in his course. He makes class interesting, has a good humor and is incredibly smart. The best prof I've had =)
I stopped paying attention in the 2nd semester and was still able to teach myself all the material from his notes. The definition of a 5 in clarity; surprisingly, not that helpful in after-hours, but mainly because you really shouldn't have anything to ask him. Don't buy the textbook - waste of $125, you won't need to open it a single time.
Best prof at McGill.
nicest person E-V-E-R!
Best prof at McGill, no one even comes close. Exams are extremeley fair and he is ready and willing to help every student that walks through his door. Has a nice sense of humour too!
One of the reasons people should come to McGill. Nothing but respect for him.
Such a great professor. He really makes the effort to make sure the students have every resource to succeed. Such a nice guy - I didn't think anyone could make stats interesting, but he did! Don't buy the textbook; you'll never use it and his notes are amazing.
Had him for econometrics, was good but kinda intimidating in office hours! Anyway I agree with ppl below, don't buy the book, even if he tells you to, because he won't use it @ all and u will just waste like $300 for nuthin

Extremely nice. His notes are amazing: Absolutely no need for the book. Make sure you have all the lectures' notes and you'll be fine.
Told me my high school statistics book was fine for use in his class in order to save money. Gives great notes and wants to make sure every student understands the material. Allows crib sheets and calculators, and even shows how to use stats buttons on calculators. Highly recommended, great prof and excellent person as well.
funny, good teacher, clear
Great prof for those who don't know the material. If you have come across statistics before, or perhaps are taking the class after having taken statistics in high school, he will bore you to tears. Otherwise, a great prof.
Excellent prof, great guy
highly recommended
Best Prof at mcgill
Very clear lecture notes, easy assignments and quizzes, but fairly difficult final. Definitely a nice guy and a great prof overall. Plus, he looks like Santa!!!
good teacher...
Best Prof at McGill, have now taken 4 semesters worth of his courses. So approachable, cares and really wants to help his students. As long as you go to class, pay attention, and take notes you should do great. Highly recommended to anyone, great man.
One of the best teachers you will ever have.
Hand downs the best professor i have had at McGill. Loves his job and is willing to help students out all the time. He adapts his schedule to yours and explains everything perfectly. Everything he says he writes down. Made statistics very bearable and easy to do well in as long as you keep on top of things.
One of the best profs I have had in McGill. He is very eager to help and very helpful. Text book is optional.
Best prof I've had. Hands down.
BEST PROF EVER!! I wish he teaches all my classes! He's the type of prof that actually wants his students to do well. I highly recommend that you take all the classes that he teaches, you won't regret it!
he got really confused last semester...we did 3 revison classes per week for 3 weeks before the final...
I cannot say enough good things about the man. He has hundreds of students but will make a relationship with you if you go to his office once. Mathematically and generally he is brilliant. He really wants you to understand the material and makes himself available like no other professor. Even if you do not like stats or math, take this class.
Long live Eurelia!
Best Professor I've had at McGill. A true gentleman and scholar. Who knew that stats and econometrics would be my best classes at McGill. Hear the bagpipes calling!
One of the nicest profs/people in general I've ever met. Crystal clear instructions and textbook is optional! For an old guy, very friendly and engaging. Will definitely take another class with him next year.
You know he's a good teacher when he makes statistics exciting. Cant wait to take another class with him! Love you k mack!
He is awesome. He gives you a cheat sheet on every test, you can work together on assignments, he's a genius!!! He took up 3 full blackboards to explain how he did one calculation in his head! highly recommended!!! Oh ya and he plays the Bag Pipes... ya thats right the Bag Pipes!!!!!!!
This man is a math genius, no other way to put it. In the middle of a difficult chalkboard problem, ask him to do it in his head. He'll get it immediately. It's amazing to see. He's by nature very slow and very methodical, so it's easy to follow. He's just a very nice and very friendly Santa Clause looking MF'r.
best prof ever!
THE BOSS!!!! so helpful and understanding. he looks like the KFC guy or santa claus. either way he is a straight up math genius.
He is the best teacher at McGill, in Canada, in the World. Enough said.
You will rarely meet a professor who personally wants you to succeed more than KMack. Makes his explanations crystal clear and holds extremely useful review sessions prior to the midterm and final exam. If you are stuck with assignments he will be more than happy to help and will provide an extremely similar example. Favorite prof at Mcgill
He is the best professor McGill has to offer. I took this course and went down a two year path to Eurelia. Do yourself a favor and take this course. You'll never need a reason to go to class. His classes are just a pleasure to attend.
Amazing Prof!!! KmacK actually wants everyone to succeed and will do a great job at helping you get there! Course, exams and assignments are easy and fun if you just attend classes, and believe me that is just a pleasure. I highly recommend taking any course KmacK offers... He really is the best prof at McGill.
KMac goes HAM. Nuff said.
Super clear, wonderful prof, highlight of my mornings.
This guy is a legend. Take his class, guaranteed you'll love it.
Don't know what the fuss was all about but I found class pretty boring. He taught the material at a really slow pace and I don't think I learned much from this course. Both the midterm and the final were easy as cake and I didn't even attend any of the lectures. Take this for an easy A if you are a math major.
Love the guy, and the course was ok, but he's either getting a little old or has way too much on his plate. This semester alone he had Econ 337, two sections of 227, some stats course in sociology and a night course in applied stats - and it showed. Lectures were often a mess and we barely covered half the material of last year's 337 class.
Not sure why everyone loves him. One of the worst experiences I've ever had in a class. His lectures were very slow and we got through little material at a snail's pace. None of his demos ever work and he loved emphasizing things we cannot be tested on. Marking was a complete disaster. He is hugely overrated.
KMak really wants you to succeed. A must take class! Really fun if you enjoy math, and he makes the course really easy.
It is an honor to trek a mile in the snow to Stuart Bio at 8:00 am because he is one of the kindest people I have met in life, let alone just academia. He truly wants every student to succeed and will come in on weekends to tutor you. He is the jewel of the economics department at Mcgill.
KMacK is not overrated in the slightest. He is the nicest, most down to earth professor you will ever meet. He will go out of his way to help you and make sure you succeed. He really is a jewel of McGill.
Not only the best instructor I've had at McGill, but probably the best teacher I've had in my life. KmacK is a true gentleman.
Helping people literally makes him happy. Probably the nicest man in the entire world, certainly that I've ever met. He may be Santa Claus.
KMack forever!!! He lets you bring a crib sheet to exams. The course material is really not that much. No textbook, just copy down everything he writes on the board.
KMack is awesome. He is always in his office and extremely eager to help his students. He will also remember your name! 337 and 338 are definitely harder than 227, but much easier than all the other econ courses at Mcgill. I am disappointed that I've taken all his courses and there is not more to take!
What an awesome prof! The most kind prof at McGill. Here's a tip: Try to take his classes after taking Adv. B-Stats! BTW, The last day of classes he plays the bagpipes.
By far the best professor I've had at McGill. I had ECON 227 and ECON 337 with him as well, and he's always willing to help and I actually enjoyed going to class. And he is the nicest guy! Definitely take a class with him if you can.
I've been with him for 2 years and will take more if he offers to teach anything else. Though it seems McGill has put too much on his plate this semester and old age is catching up to him. Very clear lecture.Attend and do practice questions. The amont of learning really depends on yourself. Delve deeper than just knowing how to solve the questions.
He is the best Prof that I have so far. He is smart and he takes care of his students. He is the king.
Really nice guy, but didn't really like him as a prof. He likes teaching and helping out students. But he goes extremely slow and repeats things too many times. Unorganized, spends too much time helping out lazy students who just like to get A with no real effort. Exams were super easy. Take honors econometrics if you like to learn something.
Simply the best!
i have taken apstats in high school, so i kinda know all the stuff in the first term, but i still feel the need to attend class every day at 8:30, because his class is so great that i feel unfulfilled if i didn't attend the lectures. at first i thought the class is going too slow until i missed a class, and realized the course is quite fast
I have seen statistics lecture videos from MIT and Harvard and I will give you this: Kenneth MacKenzie owns them all. Best stat prof I have seen so far. I wish classes weren't at 8 30 in the morning
He plays bagpipes.
I'm convinced this man is Santa. He makes Economic Statistics engaging and intriguing, and while he makes the work relatively easy, you feel like you're learning a lot. The 8:30 time slot is a pain though.
Vastly overrated. He goes really slow and does a really horrible job explaining things. The only reason people like him is prob because he covers so little material that other profs might've went over in less than a month
Doesn't live up to his promises to upload class materials onto MyCourses. Since you can't get your hands on the reference materials of your lecture notes, comprehending them becomes difficult (esp because its too specific to find appropriate youtube tutorials). This professor is a mess and attending his course has been a frustrating experience.
Hands down the best prof I have had at McGill!
Great guy, gives tons of examples in class, always available if you go to his office, and his exams are exactly what he's taught you, no tricks involved.
Easy class, did not have to attend class to keep up with content. Midterm at the end of the first semester was killer though. Not much work involved.
People think he's clear because he is slow and writes everything on the board. A few slides for students to read at home could have saved a lot of class time for meaningful analysis and interpretation of the data, as well as interesting examples to bring the material to life. The class leaves much to be desired. Besides, not helpful outside class.
Waaayyy to overrated prof. The only good thing about him is that he goes slow. However makes things so unclear that you have no idea what's going on. Took two semesters with this guy yet still hasn't figured out the purpose of econometrics. Also vastly disorganized, lost every single one of my assignments
Ignore what the previous comments say about him being not helpful. He is one of the few profs that is always in his office ready to answer your questions concerning the material. He is even willing to set time aside to throughly explain a topic to you. Although it is true he can be slightly disorganized, but he makes up for it with helpfulness.
The BEST TEACHER EVEERRRR.....Not only is he super organized and throughout with his examples, but he actually writes notes and label stuff on the board unlike most teacher who just talk and give an example without much written down. He also makes the BEST jokes and great sense of humour. Super patient, easy going, straight forward question on test
He is so helpful! You can go see him anytime in his office. He is the only prof. I know who does two weeks of exam review in class. He's like Santa Claus! He doesn't try to trick you in the exams either. He post all the answers to old exams and bases the new ones off them too.
He is not a good statistics teacher. He goes really slowly, yet we do not understand a thing. He uses examples from 1885 and takes class time to explain theories that statisticians stopped using 20 years ago. His examples are way too simple, when we get to quizzes and exam we are lost.
Take statistics whenever you can with MacKenzie! You know what he expects from you, very clear in teaching. A bit disorganised, but you'll get used to it and won't even notice anymore.
KMacK is one of the nicest, most accommodating and genuinely good professors. However, he is utterly disorganized and has no clue how to manage a course. Very, very difficult to learn from him if you're not REALLY paying attention, or you don't go to office hours.
Such a great prof, so passionate about statistics. He knows so much about teaching stats and is very good at it, but is clueless with computers. Don't skip class. Extremely clear, extremely accomplished and very qualified to teach this course. ADORED him. If you can take him, DO IT! One of the best profs i've ever had. Gem.
Took his class for Econ337 Econometrics but also Econ227 Statistics. Same verdict every year: he is an amazing prof, extremely (com)passionate about his subject(students). Don't expect rigorous teaching, as you often don't get to the end of the syllabus, but KmacK always explains clearly, gives you several dates to write midterms. Great guy overall
great guy
KMack is a solid professor. Just be prepared to attend every class, because there's no textbook that you can refer to when you need to catch up. The material in this class gets pretty complicated in the 2nd semester. Nevertheless, stats is hard no matter which way you teach it.
Stats is tough regardless, but KMack tries to make it as interesting as possible (using stories, etc.). He really wants you to get a good grade and even though lectures can sometimes be a bit dry (it is stats), if you attend all lectures you can do great.
Amazing prof. Teaches clearly, and writes in such a way that you can see the way of thinking. Notes written on board, so attendance highly recommended. Midterm and exam toughtoo long to fully complete. However, he is very understanding and will make sure no one gets unjustly ruined. Knows his stuff extremely well. Also played the bagpipe for us!!!
227337 He's a tremendous storyteller and get ready to take notes in class. Its obvious that he loves what he does and does it well. You can catch him in the hall way and he'll give you the time you need. Exams are super long. Super nice guy.
Easy stats class. Textbook not needed. Lectures are clear and he is always there in his office if you need him. Midtermfinal were not too long, just prepare yourself in advance with the previous finals he will post on MyCourses. If you do that you will be fine. Extremely nice guy.
favourite prof ever. made me want to go to a statistics class...
His notes are very unclear and all over the place (blackboard+chalk). He is a very kind person though!
He is very disorganized, lectures are very slow and very unclear.
This professor is wonderful in terms of helpfulness. If you come to his office hours you can get clarity on anything you don't understand.
While Mackenzie is a nice guy, he's very poorly suited for the class. During the fall/winter semesters, Mackenzie takes forever to regrade exams, does not reply to emails, and has no idea what's actually going to covered on the tests (since the midterm/final are designed by another prof).
super helpful & accommodating. If you are confused, he will help you until you understand
really helpful and really nice! he set up extra study sessions before our exams too, and is willing to stay extra hours if he has time!
I would never miss kmack's class why simply because of him he is probably the most experienced for this class and know's what he is doing .Very nice and very helpfull he genuinely cares about his students and is a wonderful teacher and also hilarious!
I found Prof. MacKenzie's course more difficult because I am a lousy note taker. There is no textbook for this Course I feel that my passing was contingent upon being added to the note-sharing group for the course.
AMAZING PROF! He is just too good and makes stats really easy, just practise a lot from his problems or from previous papers and you should be good. My friend hardly wrote anything in the final and still managed to get a C+. KMack is a gem of a person and always there to help you during office hours. Take any class with him you won't regret.
The most incompetent course administrator I've ever had. He teachers the class at at a really slow pace. As a lecturer he's fine. But we had NO assignments, he posted NO lecture notes, had NO recommended readings/practice questions. He can't figure out email or myeconlab, and is the slowest grader. It took him 2 months to grade the only quiz we had
He is the worst prof I have ever had in my 3 years at McGill. He does not know the syllabus, and often ends up teaching the wrong material, He does not have any slides or any course content you can refer to. He grades very slowly if he does not forget to give you the required assignments. Overall, do not take his classes if you want to pass stats.
His level of disorganisation is astonishing and makes classes extremely difficult to follow. Never remembers what has already been taught the class before and often teaches the wrong material. Everyone in SOCI 350 this semester seems very confused. On the other hand, he does grade fairly.
The guy is a real angel. No wonder we call him Santa Clause (because of the beard and himself) take any of his classes in arts but he is not that good in management.
Do not take stats with him, he doesn't know what's on the exams, doesn't even know what's on the syllabus. The final exam wasn't even on anything he taught, the only way to pass it would be if you had a PhD in Statistics.
I don't know why people cheer KMack. He was hard to follow and didn't explain the concept fully. His practice questions were a lot more involved than his examples. His tests were 10x as hard as his example questions. He is also very disorganized and forgetful; he couldn't tell us coherently what was going to be on the final, misled us in the end.
Sure Kmack is disorganized and forgetful but people need to remember he's like 100 years old and teaches five classes in one semester. Anyone would get confused. His lectures themselves are clear but disorganized as a whole. If you can organize everything well on your crib sheet and take good notes in class, you're golden.
KMack is a very kind professor that only means well. But... His Soci stats class this semester was painfully disorganized. We were left clueless about what would be on the final until the day before and the lecture material was very confused and all over the place. Seems to have a very heavy teaching load, which ended up negatively impacting us.
I had good faith in KMack prior to this course, but was disappointed by his disorganisation and approachability. Poisson setup was taught 3 times, but the p-method was never taught - and this is supposed to be covered on the midterm! Takes 3 months to mark a quiz and easily triggered whenever a 'dumb' question/statement is asked/said. Overrated.
KMacK is charming and entertaining, and I found his exams for this course very straight-forward, with one caveat- you MUST go to class, or have someone to reliably get you the notes. No textbook, very disorganized myCourses page, kind of scatterbrained in general. Only gave one assignment in late November. But overall, I enjoyed the class a lot.
One of the best econ profs at McGill! make sure you have lecture notes from class. all in understand how each type of question is solved, study well, and you will be rewarded!
This prof is honetsly the sweetest I've had yet. Ok he's a bit disorganized for assignements etc but if you go to class and you work, you're guaranteed to have a good grade. He knows his lectures by heart and he can calculate everything and anything.
Professor MacKenzie is, by quite a stretch, the worst teacher I have had since coming to McGill. If you are put into his class, I strongly advise you to make a good friend in one of the other classes as KMack provides absolutely no material to refer to.
Such a wise professor. He had so many witty stories to tell it was like sitting around an ancient sage. Lectures filled with intelligent humor. And he doesn't use textbooks because the wise man knows statistics by heart. Just remember to master the practice problems he posted. The amazing powers of repetition; that's all it takes.
I would not trust the reviews before 2016, they seem to now be outdated. Something about KMack has changed and it isn't for the better. While he is a great lecturer, gives reasonable workload, and teaches straightforward and fun material, his administrative skills are poor. He still has not returned my grades from the Fall semester.
Professor KMack may be hilarious and likable, and the material is decent, but you really do have to question his organization and administration. This is getting very frustrating and I grow impatient. He takes forever to return test results, if he even does them at all. I still don't have any grades from the Fall semester. Year-long course. Worried
Professor KMack is a great lecturer, but let's end it there. It doesn't compensate for his poor administration. I have still not received a single grade from the Fall semester and wonder if I will ever receive one. This is a concern I have been very preoccupied with since this course is a required course for the Economics Major Concentration.
One of the greatest proof in McGill. His lectures are very interesting, he has great sense of humour. Be prepared to attend all the lectures, it is crucial! No need for book. Also be prepared for strange grading, he is just lazy to do it. The group wanted for grades for 5 months without answer. Tests are easy if you go to class. Must GO!
I love KMac but that doesn't excuse both his performance and the class itself. Unfortunately this course is incredibly outdated meaning you come out with skills NOT APPLICABLE IN THE MODERN WORLD (Companies use excel, even other uni's teach it on excel). I also don't have any grades back, KMac is losing it and inconsistent with previous years.
The easiest professor one will take at McGill if you are an ECON major. Pay attention to him, make sure you get his problems the final will be THE SAME difficulty as in class, make a good crib sheet, and know your calculator, and you get A. At the end of the day, you understand how to do stats problems and get a high grade in the process.
Such a smart guy, but very disorganized in grading assignments and finals. Book isn't used, so you MUST go to class. He gives practice finals and quizzes from previous years that are almost identical to the one you'll have. As long as you do those problems and have a good crib sheet, you can easily pull an A in the course.
This was the worst prof I ever had at McGill, if you care about your GPA or knowing anything about statistics do not take this prof. I have no idea why people in Econ like him. After the first midterm I just went to another prof's lectures because otherwise you fail. Prof has no idea what's on the exam and changes the syllabus in November
KMack is so disorganized that its hard to follow anything in this class. The fact that theres no textbook doesnt help either. Granted, Im more of a textbook vs go to class type of person but with KMack neither works. Just do all assignments over and over again and cram everything, put whatevers left on the crib sheet and hope for the best.
Slow pace. Spends too much time on some things that should take 5 min. Lectures are basically worthless so you have to do all the work at home.
No ppt, no books used. His handwriting is awful to be honest. He forgot to announce our last semester's quiz grade and also this term's. The course is sleepy.
Best prof there can be at Mcgill. Everyone who says his class is difficult is at fault for not attending the lectures. Just attend his class, listen to what he says carefully and do the papers he gives you, and you will DEFINITELY do well :)
I think he is the best professor at McGill. He is very kind and nice to his students. He is always willing to help his students and very kind hearted person!! Definitely willing to take his course again!
Best prof at McGill, he posts previous quizzes and exams on mycourses, there IS a textbook but if you go to class you don't need it. He goes above and beyond to help his students. Period. You get what you need to throughout the course to get an easy A but it's stats so you have to do the problems, it's not KMack's fault if you can't handle that.
Extremely knowledgable, amazing at lecturing, is very patient/kind and helpful during office hours, and clearly just wants you to succeed (unlike many ECON profs). BUT, administratively, he needs assistance. Loses assignments, forgets to assign assignments --- the syllabus will not be followed. Be comfortable not knowing where you stand pre-final.
It's clear that KMack is very knowledgable about ECON, but his ability to transfer that knowledge to students is nonexistant. Syllabus is outdated, and tbh useless bc he doesnt follow it. No one understood how much each exam was worth. No explanation was ever given. No grades were distributed. Went into the final not knowing where I stood.
KMac's lectures are boring as he takes very long to explain each process and he usually does a lot of errors in his calculations. However, he clearly knows a lot about statistics and that's nice. Don't expect your midterm grades to be returned. We're already entering second semester and I still don't have my grade...
If you take down good notes during lectures and do his practice quizzes, midterms and finals multiple times until you understand every type of problem, there is no reason that you shouldn't get an A. No surprises on exams.
Extremely disorganized professor: lost 100 quizzes (grades never returned), never has enough handouts/quizzes to give students when he needs to, forgets his calculator or other things and makes us waste time. This professor seems completely clueless and it isn't fair to have such professors at University.
Sweetest prof out there! He makes stats really accessible to students who have no math/stats background and always provides example questions and past quizzes/exams so you know what to expect when you're tested. He's ALWAYS available for questions, and even had office hours on weekends because he genuinely wants his students to succeed.
Professor KmacK is very entertaining and clearly works because he loves his discipline; he isn't in it for the money or the job conditions. That being said, beware of his confused ways to teach and evaluate his class.
A nice prof who obviously cares, but extremely disorganized. Never prints enough copies of midterms, and once made 30 students leave and come take the exam a week later because of this. Changes his office hours without warning and regularly skips or reteaches material because he forgets what we've done. Easy class but stressful and frustrating.
Professor MacKenzie is a gem- the nicest prof you'll find at McGill. Always makes time for students to see him after class/during office hours. Exams are straightforward with no surprises. An A is v achievable if you keep up. Sometimes he needs organizational assistance, but keep in mind he has to handle 3 sections of the same intro course.
Although an absolute disaster administratively, Prof Mackenzie is one of the best lecturers I have had at McGill and also one of the most sweetest and generous. The exams were very easy if you went to class and took notes. He also provided and went through past papers that were nearly identical to the exams we had. An absolute gem!
ECON 227 was a train wreck on the administration side (lost exams, grades never coming back, etc.), but KMack cares a lot about his students. If you go to class and put in enough practice before his exams, you're very likely to get an A (plus you get to hear his awesome bagpipe playing at the end of each semester :D ).
The nicest prof youll ever have at McGill. He doesnt try to trick you and exams are very easy. Dont need much studying to ace the class.
Such an easy class and such a cool prof! His assessments are very easy and his lectures are a lot of fun. Only downside is he has no clue how to use mycourses. If you miss a lecture there are no slides or anything to learn from, that content is lost to you forever.
He's such an energetic lecturer- usually I don't pay much attention in class but Professor Ken can get anyone passionate about economics! In fact, it is because of him that I transfered out of management into economics. It also helps that he is v attractive (went to A LOT of office hours)
Disorganized, cannot hear a thing in his lectures, grading takes more than a month. His midterms are quite easy but the finals stab your back. He goes off tangent soooooo much it's kind of hard at times to understand if he's lecturing or not.
I absolutely adore Kmack. Hes the sweetest prof out there. Yes hes extremely forgetful and unorganized but you gotta give him a break... Hes been teaching the class maybe even before our parents were born. Straight forward quizzes, difficult final. Go to his Office Hour, hes the best. I can never hate him even if I get an F for the class
He's the sweetest prof ever but i never knew it'd be possible to be this disorganized. Don't be surprised if he does lose or misplace students' marks and documents frequently. Took his class because people say that its an easy A if you put in the work and do his practices problems. However, over half of my class is failing his course.
Good man, very nice, but shouldn't be teaching anymore. First quiz was very easy, midterm was very hard due to poorly worded questions. Second quiz should have been easy but like his previous exams there were mistakes riddled throughout. Average for the class rn is maybe around a 50 (you can see everyones grade).S/U-covid is saving my GPA luckily.
KMack is an essential part of the 'McGill Experience'. He is a great lecturer, super straightforward, and gives questions that are similar to what comes on the midterm and final. I like to call him the gentle giant. Attendance was low for the class, which is why I think the average is bad. BEWARE, extremely unorganized, he messed up all my grades.
Very nice prof but shouldn't be teaching anymore. You think you understand but during the exam it feels like you don't know anything. Would recommend taking another prof for ECON 227 since it's mandatory for Econ majors. Go to his office hours and work A LOT on your own if you want a good grade.
I've really enjoyed classes with Dr. Mackenzie so far. He's got a sense of humour and he's nice too. Loves horses. He's been a breath of fresh air compared to my other econ prof whom I care not to rate on RMP. Class is not exactly easy. It's very straight-forward and easy to follow though. Profs can make or break an econ class.
RIP KMack. You will be missed by us all
