2 professors taught the class. Nollett taught 3/5 of the semester, Sundqvist the remaining half. Tests were nothing like the online homework. Multiple choice for all 5 exams, 10 problems. Lowest test and homework was dropped. iClickers questions. lectures uploaded to blackboard but it was sometimes difficult to read his hand writing.
Not a "hard" class but a tricky one. Entire grade revolves around 4 tests (lowest is dropped). Tests are multiple choice and pretty tricky, easy to fall for misconceptions, also no partial credit.
Nollett teaches the first half of lectures and Sund teaches the second half. There are four tests and the tests are 10 multiple choice questions per test and account for like 75 % of the grade. Nollett is an okay lecturer but don't rely on studying his lectures for the tests. If you want to do well, read the textbook and ace the HW questions.
Nollett is very challenging but very thorough. He also very clearly puts a lot of effort into structuring a course as he hopes is most beneficial. The only criticism I have is that he never grades homework on time. Beyond that, expect that the class will be rigorous. The tests are challenging. Never say, "He'd never put that on a test." He would.
Prof Nollett is not that good of a lecturer. He only covers the basics of the concepts in class, and he talks extremely fast. The tests are very difficult (worth 75% of your grade), but you can do well on them if you do well on the online hw. Good luck if you have to take him, otherwise, avoid.
his lectures are straightforward but pretty dry. The homework takes a decent amount of time every week. Tests weren't too difficult. Grading is curved for homework and participation makes it easy to get 100%. While he isn't amazing at lectures he is really nice, understanding, flexible and easy to work with.
Tests are 75% of your grade, the other 25% is made up of attendance and homework. The tests relate back to the homework, and the homework does relate back to class, but his lecturing can be hard to follow at times. He absolutely wants students to succeed and is very responsive but I've still found the tests difficult to study for.
He really wants his students to succeed - I was at his office hours frequently and he was very understanding and helpful. Go to class and take notes, but more importantly make sure you understand the content conceptually. READ the textbook, my improvement was palpable after I made that a part of my routine.
Learned nothing except that my phone is apparently possessed. Professor says the devil lives in it, so I started praying to Satan through my cracked screen. My grades didn't rise, but my GPA sure went to hell—along with 2/3 of the class. Blood was shed. Avoid. All jokes aside he is a very carrying guy, just not a great lecturer.
Overall nice guy, but horrible at lectures. Most work in Physics 195 pertains to a specific textbook, which his lectured at not related to. So you basically have to learn two different topics at once. His lectures are rather bland and uninformative. At the very least he's polite about it.
Nice guy, extremely knowledgeable about physics however is extremely bad at conveying that knowledge. Gives the most important examples and explanations with 1 minute left in class when half the class is packing to leave. Homework and tests do not pertain to his lectures at all, you must read the textbook or 0 chance of understanding the material.
Lectures are confusing and rarely related to the homework, requires iclicker attendance which he frequently forgets to save time for, which means we get no points for being in class. He clearly knows his profession but all around a mediocre professor. He is really bad at explaining fundamental physics concepts, which is bad for an intro course.
Bald!!!!!!
Don't take him
He spends far too long in lecture talking about unrelated topics, and then the topics he does discuss he doesn't do so well. He is intelligent, but he fails to pass down that information. His handwriting is also unreadable sometimes.
Doesn't know how to explain concepts, spends a lot of time working with variables and deriving equations, repeatedly makes mistakes in his problems, heavy on conceptual questions instead of giving us real examples and saves those examples for the last 3 minutes of class and is always running out of time. None of his notes relate to the actual HW.
BE WARNED!!!!! You will learn nothing you need to do well on exams during lecture, you must teach yourself topics outside of class or get tutored. He is often confused himself in lectures so it makes it impossible to follow. Relatively no structure in this class, homework doesn't relate to lecture notes at all. EXAMS ARE YOUR WHOLE GRADE.
No way about it, he is just bad at teaching. He has so much technical knowledge and experience that he seems to have forgotten how to teach the basics. All in all he is a lame prof, avoid and take Anderson if possible. Heard Anderson is the GOAT, Nollett sucks.
L professor
I am failing and you will probably fail too. Doesn't cover homework in lecture. Very smart guy but cannot explain anything easily and does not prepare students for exams!! He says 'read the textbook'... but that is the whole point of having a lecture. If you're reading this turn back lol. WE WANT ANDERSON BACK.
Doesn't know how to teach the basics and homework's and tests are unrelated to his lectures.
Lectures have little to do with exams. Much better to just read the textbook and self study and teach which is unfortunate.
Bro's lectures are terrible, he always makes mistakes in his examples and explains terribly, lowkey get more confused in his lectures but they are also clicker-based for attendance. Tests are hard and he doesn't give any study guides.
bro. omg. He literally messes up problems in class (if he gets confused, how tf are we supposed to understand). Barely explains why he does stuff, js puts it on the paper. His handwriting is so hard to read. He doesn't know how to time his classes well, will talk and get sassy when ppl pack up 3 min before class ends. WONT SHOW OUR GRADES ON CANVAS
He is not a good lecturer, and what he covers in the lecture is not covered in the midterms which are a majority of your grade. He refuses to post even basic canvas total grades, blamed it on technology that has been seen in other classes, and stated that those who expect canvas grades are not going to have successful careers. Avoid at all costs.
THIS BALD MAN DOESN'T PUT ANYTHING FROM HIS LECTURES ON THE MIDTERMS. THE CLASS AVERAGE WAS A 60% AND HE WAS HAPPY WITH THAT. I AM FAILING RIGHT NOW AND I GENUINELY DON'T KNOW HOW I'M GOING TO PASS. WORST TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. THIS CLASS WILL MAKE YOU SUICIDAL DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS IS YOUR WARNING.
In his most recent announcement to his students he stated and I quote "You are not likely to have successful careers in those fields if you insist on having software engineers somewhere else do all of your thinking for you" just because he doesn't have his grade calculations turned on in canvas. Worst lecturer ever. Makes you rethink life.
Why are all of the midterms multiple choice??? Like, I'm sorry. What, boy, do I need that partial credit? How is it that the entire class is failing, and he says he's proud of it? His lectures make no sense, dude, seriously, doesn't even go over the stuff that's on the tests. NEVER TAKE HIS CLASS
Imagine being bald at 57 years of age, Voldemort-esque. Dreadful lecturer + massive ego + sends sassy emails. 3 Midterms + Finals make up 75% of your grade. Homework takes insanely long. You need to decipher his handwriting while listening to his insufferable stutter. Relies on his notes and frequently messes up in-class examples.
Cannot stress how awful this class is. Everyone is failing. The worst teacher I have ever had in my entire life. Lectures are unengaging- never looks up from his ipad and handwriting is illegible. When students ask to see their grade so we can IMPROVE AND PASS he says we're not going to succeed in our careers because we're asking for too much help
I go to multiple help sessions each week and still manage to fail this mans tests. Only people who are doing good in the class took AP physics in high school and people who didn't are failing because this man can't teach for the life of him. Doesn't curve tests even if half the class fails. BEWARE!
midterms and final make up 75% of your grade which is terrible. bro's lecture are horrendous because of how unorganized he is and no one can read his handwritten notes. if you don't want your gpa to be tanked do not take his class
Teacher does not answer emails and is passive aggressive. He doesn't put in grades and makes you do it yourself because "good" teachers don't hold your hand. Homework website crashes all the time and NO extensions. He confuses himself during lecture/takes so much time yapping. No study guides. Always says he has "tenure" so he's immune to anything.
Not a good teacher for physics 195
He might be one of the worst professors I've taken. He has no study guides, the homework is crazy hard while the clicker questions are too easy, and any SI sessions and office hours don't help. he's also a horrible lecturer who explains entry-level physics like its Physics 197 and has horrible handwriting where Im constantly asking what he wrote.
DO NOT TAKE HIM SAVE YOURSELF!! he's a bad lecturer with bad time management so you might as well just teach everything to yourself
Deaduzz dont take ts class bro. He never puts in grades. Horrible lectures bru, cant even understand his handwriting, always confuses himself too he always stuttering. Lectures dont do nothing, i end up having to teach myself. NO study guide. Also the stuff on his lectures are not even on midterms, i dont know how its possible to pass this class.
Horrible professor. Terrible handwriting on a huge screen which doesn't make sense as he never explains anything because he is incapable of doing so. He hides grades meaning you have to do it yourself. The midterms average F-C grades and even then are not curved. Homework is outrageously hard and it doesn't help the website crashes. DO NOT TAKE.
This Professor will make you rethink about your value in life. I deadass went to his office hours multiple times and I worked on one problem and we didn't even finish the homework. He makes the homework like Grad level type of homework and he's rude as hell. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR.
Please, for all that is good in the world, do not take this man for Physics. He doesn't know how to teach, his handwriting is unreadable, and he generally does not relate the lectures to the midterms at ALL (midterms are 44% of your grade, and the final is 30%). For your sake, avoid him. Most people I know aren't passing.
Bro keeps yapping and talking about his other higher level classes. Doesn't know how to teach or explain anything and basically tells us to self teach the material by reading the book and doing the extremely hard homework. Worst professor I've ever had. Don't take him
Self teaching my way through this course. Admits that he isn't the best professor in lecture but won't do anything about it. Really sucks at working through examples; gets lost in his own examples. If you ask questions he'll just point you straight to the textbooks. Lectures don't relate to homework and exams.
get ready to self teach the course material because the teacher is too busy thinking about electromagnetism
HAND WRITING IS HORRIBLE ALWAYS MESSES UP LITERALLY SO OFF TOPIC HOMEWORK LONG AF LECTURES ARE NOT ON EXAMS AND TO MAJE IT WORSE HES BALD JESUS AND HE DOESNT KNOW HOW TO TEACH THIS CLASS BRU
VOLDEMORT AHH LOOKIN' BALD MAN DON'T KNOW HOW TO TEACH HIGHSCHOOL PHYSICS.
Be warned that the only reason I have a good grade in this class was because I had taken AP Physics during my time in high school and I have kept my notes from that time. His class is absolutely horrible for learning beginner physics: spends 1/5 of class talking about the same announcements, horrible handwriting, and more. Better off self studying.
His lectures, homework's, and tests have no correlation. The tests are impossible to pass, even if you get the right answer you need to explain your reasoning, not just show your work.
I don't understand why there are so many bad reviews because the class is not that difficult. Physics is going to be hard no matter the teacher, but he is clear about how to get a good grade and curves attendance, homework and drops the worst test. All you need in this class is to read the textbook and do the homework and you will get a good grade.
Really bad prof DO NOT TAKE HIM, the review below this one that gave a 4 is probably ken himself after realizing how bad his rmp score is. Bad lecturer, passive aggressive, won't even let us see our grades so we don't "rely on canvas codemonkeys for everything" (actually what he said). Overall really bad so avoid.
I studied like 10 hours a day everyday for 2 weeks before exams, watched every youtube video on the internet, hired a tutor, because he teaches us nothing and we have to do all the learning at home by ourselves. Got a 35%. I'm going to fail and I have to spend my own money this summer to take the class again. Wake me up from this nightmare
I would rather drop out than take his class again
This professor inspired me to drop out of school Overall, the class lacked structure, support, and clarity. If you're genuinely interested in learning physics and not just surviving the class, I'd recommend looking elsewhere—or at least brushing up with some outside resources.
Really, really terrible. Exams confusing and poorly written, worth over 40% of the grade. The final is 20%, rest is homework and attendance. Lectures are actually trash and never help. My advice is you either teach yourself and take Ken or dodge him and wait a semester. AVOID IF YOU CAN
Crazy to see so many p195 students can't handle Nollet lol. I had him for 2 courses and Thermal was a favorite class for me. Difficult but very doable if you actually pay attention and study correctly. If your physics class is easy you're wasting your money.
Dr. Nollett seems like a smart man, however he has ZERO clue how to teach intro level classes. You will struggle immensely and your grades will reflect that. Make study groups. Go to supplemental instruction (SI) sessions, they helped more than the class ever did. All of this tests were multiple choice and the class average is still in the 50s.
This professor is what happens when someone with an ego bigger than their knowledge tries to teach. Lectures are actual garbage, exams feel like traps, and the average is always tanked. Any good review? That's him roleplaying. If you like suffering and self-loathing, congrats; you've found your guy. Thanks SDSU for a great semester!
I will remember this man for the rest of my life as the person that ruined my freshman year of college and my will to learn- If you enjoy your life and want to preserve it, AVOID THIS **** AT ALL COSTS. He doesn't care about you and will never care about you. Just take this online and save your GPA if you can.
Lectures aren't helpful at all. He constantly stutters and gets lost in his own examples, which makes the lectures even harder to follow. the lectures don't correlate with the homework or the exams, so you end up having to teach yourself everything. Hw assignments take at least two hours to complete without using ChatGPT. DONT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR.
One of the worst professors out there. Goes on rambling about stuff that won't even be on the test. Most of the class if failing yet he doesn't seem to care. If you need help get ready to teach yourself!
This man has no idea how to teach an intro class. The correlation between his lectures and exams is nonexistent. Illegible handwriting. Constantly rambling on. Stutters every other sentence. Wastes so much time with the mistakes in his lectures. Physics IS difficult but the averages shouldn't be this low. Worst professor I've had so far at state.
Never had a professor or teacher this bad of teaching in all my life. Test averages being 50% and lower shouldn't be normal. When lecturing it seems as he cannot complete his train of thought so replaces it with uhh and umm every sentence. Hard to pay attention as what he says does not make sense nor correlate to the exams or homework. Goodluck.
do NOT take ts class bro. Horrible lectures, you can spend hours studying just for the exams to be completely different than what you learned. He always yapping bout some random stuff too, stutters like crazy, also exams are worth basically your whole grade. I think most of the class is failing.
HORRIBLE LECTURES. Nothing that he says in lectures are on the actual exams. Horrible hand writing, impossible to understand. PLEASE do not take this class trust me. Everyone is having a mental breakdown because of this man.
l have honestly never had a professor this bad EVER. Class averages being around 50% or lower shouldn't be considered normal. During lectures, he always stutters. His ego is way too high he thinks hes allat. I dont know anyone who has not been struggling a lot with this class.
wish i waited and took prof anderson instead. im cooked asf bruh ts pmo so bad. most of the class not paying attention and are only there for hs level iclicker questions, nobody can understand what he writes because his handwriting is illegible. some days he be spitting formulas out with no meaning. im letting lord take the wheel for this one 🥀🥀
If you somehow end up with him here are some tips to maybe survive (don't quote me on it): I somehow started understanding when I wouldn't go to class, read the txtbook, watch Anderson videos on utube and mourn not having him, go to the lecture before the test incase he adds some useful info (prob won't happen). Enroll for summer session in case...
This man can NOT teach at all. The whole class failed the midterms. The lectures are mandatory due to the clicker, but he does not teach at all; he will spend the entire lecture on one question and not even explain it correctly. At a certain point, it is not the students who are at fault; it is this horrid excuse for a professor.
DO NOT TAKE TS PROFESSOR. if you do take him i recommend you guys get pearson + and watch the videos on your own and teach yourself because ts prof wont teach you anything. Be ready to self teach and waste your time at lectures.
Exams are 75% of your grade, confusing+hard to prep for. Lectures are not very engaging and entirely unhelpful when it comes to studying for his exams or learning the material at all. Prepare to spend a full week studying just to get a 65. Physics is generally a difficult subject, but this class just straight up does not teach you. Do not take :(
If you have to take 195, play games during class and just read the textbook. Do the concept questions and follow the textbook exactly. Sucks at teaching but VERY CLOSELY follows the book, so just have that teach you. Also, study iclicker questions almost always includes those concepts on test.
TERRIBLE lecturer. Definitely avoid him if you can. I was always so lost in his lecture classes and had to learn most of the information on my own. Attendence was required (he used IClicker) which sucked. Tests barely correlate to the lecture material. Overall, just don't waste your time with him.
Don't understand what everyone's issue with Dr. Nollett is. All these 195 students take a university course and are surprised that they have to learn, proceeding to blame any shortcoming on the professor. I've taken 197, 360, and 604 with Nollett, and not only is he a caring instructor, but has also changed the way I learn Physics for the better.
didnt curve, people were failing every test, awful lectures with icklicker that were not helpful
Horrible lecturer. Just self-study and read the textbook because you won't learn anything from him. He stutters and is so disorganized and his handwriting is ILLEGIBLE. No partial credit or curves on exams. Also is lowk rude and wont let you see your grades and is rude about it.
Midterm 3 average 52% and no curve what is this professor on bruh LMAO. How can you see 300 of your students fail and think its not your fault this is actually insane. Whatever you do do not take this professor. I enrolled in Phys195 for the fall semester because i know im cooked already. I pray for anyone that takes this professor.
Past his endearment toward "Ab Initio Nuclear Systems", Nollett is a caring professor who wrings the most out of his students. By no means is he easy-- makes what are possibly the most difficult tests in the department, but does apply a curve at the end of the semester based on how well you're doing to the average student. Strenuous, but rewarding.
Nollet is a terrible lecturer. Class averages were 50% constantly on exams. He rambles and goes on tangents and his presentations on topics are horrible. I constantly leave more confused then when I came in. Highly don't recommend.
Absolutely horrible at teaching. I hope he considers quitting after seeing these reviews. He sends very passive-aggressive responses when you email him a question. He stutters and stumbles over his words so much in lectures for someone who's so egotistical. Spent all of this course just teaching myself. Take him if you want to make your life harder
His lectures directly copy the textbook with little effort. He skips fundamentals and rushes through problems using info we haven't covered. Sends passive-aggressive emails when asked questions by students. In office hours, he's really demeaning if you get stuck. Exams combine multiple concepts with confusing wording, making them unclear.
He could easily be replaced by a physics textbook, and even the textbook would be more useful than his lectures. His tests have nothing to do with the lectures, and the attendance is taken after class ends, making many people late for their next class. He is also very rude and blames his own shortcomings on the students rather than on himself.
Avoid at all costs
You are better off looking up youtube videos to figure out whats going on in the class than going to lecture. He also had no practice midterms or finals made and claimed "homework and the textbook will be enough". It wasn't enough. The avg. midterm scores were 55,50, and 52%.
Worst professor I have ever had. Has no personality or compassion for his students. His tests are so hard and no study guide/practice tests are available. He is not responsive to emails. Genuinely avoid him at all costs; expects you to be a physics genius from day 1. He won't give extensions even if the website crashes(it crashes a lot).
just making it simple, DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS
His class isn't as hard as people say. You just need to study outside of doing the homework. However, I do think he didn't prepare his lectures before giving them. I'm not sure he wanted to be teaching Phys 195, as he's a grad level professor. I would say that is still unacceptable though, when people are paying $40k+/yr for an education.
Dr. Nollett made me become a physicist with his classes. Like any good parent, he had high expectations and high rewards. His classes present an opportunity unlike many others at SDSU, they are the closest that one can receive the rigor and potential of a course at MIT. He is quite understanding and I will always cherish his dry wit and insight.
The professor was extremely bad at teaching the class. He stutters 90% of the time, has unreadable handwriting, and barely covers the material. He expects the lectures to be review and for you to teach yourself everything. Prepare to face some crazy conceptual questions on the tests instead of math. I'd rather switch majors than take him again.
Nollett is knowlegable and passionate about the material and wants students to learn. He is not terrible, just a bit slow during lectures but if you do the homework (without chatGPT) and read the book it is managable. Canvas is organized and he holds plenty of office hours. He gives an equation sheet for exams too so there is no memorization.
He is very knowledgeable but his teaching ability is beyond poor. He is very egotistical and blames students for his inability to communicate material. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and was greatly disappointed. He is also quite snarky in emails and views students as less than. He calls back to entry level classes when THIS is the entry level
Nollet clearly knows what he's talking about, but he can't communicate it. When you ask him a question it feels like he looks at you like you're dumb. His notes are hard to read and barely help with the homework. The homework is nothing like the exams. The textbook is very helpful and the study modules on Pearson
Tests have nothing to do with lectures and homework really and unfortunately most of the cumulative grade is based on just tests. Attendance is graded and some days he does multiple clicker questions and some days he does none so it does not always reflect on the days that you show up. Test averages have reflected their difficulty, 50-60%.
2-3+ hour homework, Test averages are like 40-50 percent and no curves, its majority of your grade and he does not care about anyone. Never posts grades and blindsides students, more than half the class is failing right now and its the last week of the semester. Worst professor I have ever encountered. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
Professor says the devil lives in our phone, so I made him my wallpaper. Avoid.
Kenneth is incapable of understanding any students' beginner perspective. He thinks everyone is just as "smart and gifted" as he is and assumes that you want to be a physics major. Being completely honest, most of us don't want to end up in Kenneths position; Hence this being an intro class for the real majors. Avoid Kenneth. Don't be like Kenneth.
DO NOT TAKE HIM I HATED HIM SO MUCH HE CANT TEACH, READ, SPEAK, WRITE, OR GRADE. EVERYTHING DEPENDS ON UNCURVED MULTIPLE CHOICE EXAMS. DO NOT TAKE HIM I REAPEAT DO. NOT. TAKE. HIM.
A 1/5 is still too high of a rating if I could give a negative rating I would. Wait till a better professor is offered I don't care if you think you'll fall behind he is not worth it. Never in my life have I had such an awful teacher/professor/educator/human interaction in my life. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. And if you cant I am so sorry, sending prayers.
He is super smart but he just isn't the best at explaining stuff to us first year bozos. Hes a masters level prof so its hard for him to understand that this material is difficult to us. If you're reading this though, you probably already took him since he's done teaching. For the record: some of yall straight up lying talkin bout "no curves"
expect more homework then all of your other classes, lectures being a waste of time, and a c-d being above the median midterm grades.
By far the worst professor I've ever had. I tried so hard to pass the midterms but I always got a 50% or lower. The class has a median of a 50 on the exams but he doesn't “believe in curving.” Which is the dumbest thing I've heard. I'm probably gonna fail, but regardless I'm retaking this class because I didn't learn anything from him
Dr. Nollett was very challenging, but as long as you read the textbook and study his clicker questions, you should be able to pass the class with at least a C. Attendance and homework grades were curbed, and there was also a 6% curve in the overall class. Some people are straight up exaggerating. Do what he says and you will pass.
Go to h3ll Nollett. No Practice Exam, No Alternative Provided, No Real Resources provided to Succeed. SI Sessions with Outdated Material. Makes you do every last thing, from as low as calculating your own grade to as high as making you find your own resources to study for Exams. Literally the worst class ever. Do not sign up for any reason at all.
How can a professor submit grades without releasing the final grade to his students?? My failing grade showing up on my transcript without me knowing what percent I got?? How is this even allowed?? At least show the final grades before posting them?? Not showing our grades the whole semester to not let "Canvas codemonkeys" do it for us is crazy.
I did not learn anything from his lectures, he does not know how to explain anything, but I still managed to pass due to his generous curve :)
Is Nollett a good professor? No. But he's VERY lenient. Never got above a 65 on an exam and still walked out of the class with a B. I think he tries to teach 195 like a grad level course, which doesn't work. 90 on hw and 75 on attendance is full credit. Just show up to class, do the hw (actually do it), study outside of class, and you'll do fine.
This was his first time teaching this class, and it was a mess. He always runs out of time and demands everyone stay seated until the last minute. He also wants everyone to read a lot of the textbook because he doesn't know how to teach the material. Does not provide a study guide for tests and does not allow you to see your overall grade in canvas
Very bad at explaining concepts. Just tells you to read the textbook before and after class as if we have time for that. Never knew what my grade was in the class. he was terrible at explaining even when i went to office hours and asked for extra help. Attendance is mandatory and grades are pretty much test heavy so get points on hw to make up
As a student who loves physics and utilizes many campus resources, he made the subject difficult for beginners to learn. The only place to learn and make mistakes was in the homework, which was graded for correctness. I went to SI in hopes of assistance, but he does not coordinate with them nor give additional practice problems or practice exams.
DO NOT TAKE HIM. Clickers are the only reason to even go to class since his lectures are actual bull. Exams are all multiple choice so you can only miss 2 to get an A and they've got wack questions. I got an A but only because I self studied through the text book and I took AP Physics in high school. Also he's rude and passive aggressive.
Professor Nollett is the worst professor I've had the displeasure of learning under. Everything on here is true, his lectures are long and rambley, he doesn't make your final grade percentage public to you, and is just not a great person to be around. He is rude not only to his students, but his TAs too. 0/10, please stay in research, not teaching.
You need to learn how to teach yourself and not be a visual learner if you want to pass his class. The lecture has nothing to do with the exams or with the homework, the only thing that helps is reading the Pearson notebook and seing at the example problems to have a betetr chance of passing the class
I did not take any undergraduate classes with Dr. Nollett, but I took emag with him as a graduate student years ago. Criticism loses merit when you start disparaging him for… being bald and having a stutter? I think his teaching could improve and I didn't learn much from him, but he is a kind man and doesn't deserve to have to read these remarks.
He teaches us as if we're in grad school & understands physic already. I studied my a$$ off everyday, 7 hours a day weeks before tests, only passed one with an 80, took AP 1&2 in HS. Failed the final after studying 30+ hours. Curved at the end bc everyone was failing. Said he read calc for fun as a kid, so he teaches thinking we r as smart as him.
Professor Nollett is retiring, so this review is in vain and for my own conscience. He was a good professor in lectures, but is a lot better at one-on-one teaching. Office hours and study sessions at the MSLC were the way to go. The class was not super difficult, and there's no reason for the exam averages to be in the 50%'s. Very doable.
Dr. Nollet's courses were difficult, however my grades were a reflection of the effort I put into them.He had plenty of resources that I didn't take advantage of.I never doubted his passion and enjoyed his lectures and sense of humor.I was hoping to retake 360 and 410 to redeem myself. Thank you for challenging me, you helped me grow as a student.
I would literally rather take calc 3 5 more times than this professor again
Kenneth was very hard to follow during lecture. He would spend all of his time talking about unrelated things in class and never cover what we would be seeing on the test. Majority of kids either dropped out or got carried by the curve up to a C. I would go out of my way to find another professor before taking him again.
