Totally anal about everything. You get a five page sheet at the beginning of each class outlining everything you will talk about in class that day. Yeah, its helpful at times but a bit over the top. Also, he gives lots of speeches. He means well. Sure beats Terry - I failed his class last tri.
He looks like Radar O'Reilley on Mash. He was o.k. if you could get past his rudeness. He forgetw we are adults and refused to even talk about shorter break and let us out earlier. Oh well, it's over.
I've had better preschool, grade school and high school teachers. He gives timed tests and insists on going over them after you take them and even if you have one question left he won't let you finish. I suggest that no one take him ever! It's pretty bad when 60% of his class is failing!!!
HIS CLASS IS NOT THAT DIFFICULT,JUST MORE DIFFICULT THAN MOST OTHER COURSES.HE USES THIS GRADING RUBRIC HE PASSES OUT IN THE BEGINNING OF TRI AND LETS YOU DECIDE HOW YOU SHOULD BE GRADED,USE IT WISELY.HE IS NOT VERY HELPFUL WHEN YOU HAVE A QUESTION,BUT IS VERY CLEAR.BETTER PICK THAN MOST IN LAW DEPT
His grading system is flawed and so are many questions on the test but if you pay attention you’ll learn a lot about law and that’s what’s really important. Beware however for those wishing only to get A’s because you most likely won’t get one here.(8 of 149 students received an A or A+ this tri)
He picks out the teams for the class and claims it was picked out randomly however I have my doubts because in my group of 6 people 5 do not give a crap about the class to the point that they wont even show up to meetings or do anything.. yeah im sure that was random
too full of himself to teach... it's his way or no way and dont even think about asking simple questions that you might have doubts about because he'll act like your completely stupid... find another teacher before it's too late

I had an interest in this class, but after the 2nd class...I lost it. He definately is intelligent and nows his stuff, but he tends to think you do too. I thought of this class is an introduction and I feel that I'm in the courthouse. Only help you get is his lecture.
his tests are almost impossible-- albeit open notes/books...
ughf!!! very un compromising... dont take him.. it stinks.. fullof himself!! and im an honors student!!
good luck if you have him....always ask questions and just cause its open book and notebook doesn't mean SH*T!
Is he tough? Heck yeah to a certain degree! But you know this up front - He is clear and concise in exactly what he excpects from his students. He offers many opportunities for extra points to your grade, so if you do fail- it's your own stupidity! He's got some quirkines, but overall he's a good teacher and I look forward to taking Law II w/ hi
He couldn't be clearer as to what is expected. His style requires that you pay attention - but you will learn a lot. If you are lazy, and/or dumb, you won't like him. If you are interested in getting educated, you will. Show up - do your assignments, participate, and you'll get an A.
Take excellent notes and you will do fine with him, all tests are open notebook and book. He tells you exactly what he expects and the only surprises are the pop quizes.

He's an alright teacher. If you NEED to take the class then he is fine. But if not then don't take him. He's a pretty nice guy for the most part. Just the material he has to teach is riduclous and would still be ridiculous no matter who taught it.
VERY much a lawyer. Be careful on your "grading contract". There is a secret to his exams, pay attention in class! I didn't read the book, didn't study, didn't take notes and aced every exam, just pay attention and understand the concepts.
Very challenging class. He definetly knows his stuff. His tests are open notes but you have to know how to apply what you learn in class to the tests. The best thing about this teacher is that he always gives you extra points on tests.
He is a very tough professor, his exams are all hypothetical questions and you have to understand the laws to apply it to his questions. I would recommend another professor for this class, it's very difficult!
Lawyer with a captail L. He gives you a TON of paperwork with outlines on every session Including a 8 page outline and how to write your team paper which can't be over 1500 words or he takes off points Grading contract team test team debates No other bus law prof makes you do any of this stuff. Stay away from him if you can, otherwise, good luck!
easy take it with him. You pick your own grades for each assignment
very clear teacher, he knows his****. but his tests can be hard and his assignments are tedious. esp those damn debates they're so annoying. But he is funny and a great teacher. take him for a challenge
Great class...Great teacher...Tests can be hard but if you take notes you are money...You fill out a grading contract so there are no suprises...Overall great time a lot of fun unless you get stuck with dumb team members...
A very good teacher. Definately knows what he is talking about. I owuld recommend him if you want a challenge. He's fair and very imformative. The only thing I hate about the class is the teams. If you get stuck with morons for a team, the class can be miserable. Other than that, hes funny, and overall a great guy.
Great Guy...and very knowledgable..
Everyone complained about this class but I thought it was a great class and very fair. You must, MUST take good notes. If you do, you will have no problem at all. The test questions are very easy if you write down what he tells you in class. The only thing I didn’t like was the group stuff.
The key to the grading contract 15% Unnannouced quizzes 25% Test 1 25% Test 2 25% Test 3 10% FINAL *This is key! Final is hardest
Great professor, but very difficult class. They key is to understand the concepts, their exceptions, and details and then possess the ability to apply them to scenarios (wordy and quirkey). Tests reflect the teachers high level of expectation for students and his own uniquenes and interests.
Great Professor. Shouldn't conduct class to the very end. Students brains are fried after 9:15 PM.
Don't take this preofessor if you want an easy way out. But if you do all your work and participate, a good grade it almost garenteed.
WONDERFUL!!!!! I was not very excited about this class, it turned out to be one of my favorite classes throughout my entire time at JWU. This man is so funny that the time just flys away. Open book exams, great examples. Funny, funny guy!
Rude, treats students as if they are his own children, has no problem yelling at you and putting you on the spot, and he screams and scolds students as if he is teaching kindergarden. Nevermind the fact that he teaches a very difficult class.
He was the weirdest person ever...but thats what made his class a lot of fun. Also, he gives a grading contract, so basically you pick where you want most of your points to go. And I did learn a lot. Take him if you can!
Wierd professor recites the Godfather in class. Cuts you off in the middle of a question. But all tests are open book. Sticks to the syllabus.

He designed the course. I see now why he's got a JD and yet he teaches because reading his syllabus was excruciating. He is a nitwit of the 9th order.
Great teacher, provides excellent examples to understand the material.
This guy is a nut job. JWU does not have a law program- I am not going to school to be a lawyer- so why was he teaching me how to argue a case? I have no idea. The class was pointless, and he thinks that he is the GOD of teaching. By the way, if you like Star Trek, you will probably get along with him, he makes stupid references...
Here's the deal: Show up, act interested, pay attention and you will (a) actually LEARN something and (b) get an A. Tests are open book - how much easier can it get? You have to pay attention because you need to apply what you have learned to fact patterns he gives you. He is a bit of an odd chap, but entertainingly so. I liked the class a lot.
Awful. I left with no understanding of basic law principles, but felt like I was in 'how to think like a lawyer 101'. We dont need to argue cases to understand the ideas...
One of the best. He is very smart.
Very smart, gives plenty of examples and is very energetic for someone in the legal studies department. Is strict with policies, but very fair overall. Attend class, pay attention and ask questions -- there is no way you'll fail. You can even have yourself graded however you want.
This teacher is awful. Very hard to understand what he is teaching. When taking tests very hard and not clear. Overall, I thought this was a terrible class and learned very little about law.
This teacher is awful. Very hard to understand what he is teaching. When taking tests very hard and not clear. Overall, I thought this was a terrible class and learned very little about law.
Here's the deal. Show up every week and take good notes. Guess what you actually learn something from his class. He's very smart, gives great examples, and tests are very fair!
This professor is very clear, all you need to do is: take notes in class (I used a laptop, easy as hell), follow along in the textbook so you can write down the page numbers in your notes, and dont ask unnecessary questions!! When it comes down to the actual test, you need to use your notes and understand the material!!
I almost dropped the class because he comes on pompous at first. So glad i didn't. He is quirky and opinionated, but a Really good teacher. I learned a lot. If you show up and study, you will too, and tests are open book. The only downside is the group work. He is memorable, and truly seems to enjoy his job. This is rare at JWU.
Walked out half way through the first class. He was very aggrogant and rude and the group work and debates are ridculous. If you work, don't take this class. He won't let groups meet during class, have to do it on your own time.
Open book exams - it doesn't get ANY easier than that. Notes are clear and concise. He has expectations, sorry the shmucks below don't want to be held accountable. It's college, not high school...you have to do some work. He plays by the rules: do X and you will get Y. Do Z and you will pay the price. Yes he is quirky...so what?
One can be very intimidated by his handouts as they are plentiful. Right off the bat he inundates you with information. I was very worried about it. Turned out to be one of the best teachers ever. He gives you all the tools you need and essentially all answers for the tests. He is more interesting and intelligent than he is quirky.
Horrible professor! Hard Tests, teaches too fast, and your hand will hurt becuasse all you do is write notes and you aren not even allowed to talk! NO INTERACTION!
plain and simple this class makes me want to kill myself. i think that watching grass grow would be more interesting then listening to him talk.
I HATE HIM. THIS IS THE WORST TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD. HE HAS A SNOTTY ATTITUDE AND RANDOMLY RECITES POETRY TO HIMSELF DURING CLASS TO KEEP HIMSELF FROM BEING DISTRACTED. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!! YOU WILL HIGHLY REGRET IT I PROMISE YOU THIS!!!
Do not take him! He starts everything class with a poem, you never have any type of interaction with anyone in the class, and if the desk aren't perfectly aligned he will flip out. Just don't take him or switch out of him class asap
this guy really shouldnt be a teacher. He's really annoying, angry, and pretty much just strange. He's a really weird guy with hard tests and a bad attitude. I wouldn't recommend this one.
Normally I can easily understand what my teacher wants from me but he was HORRIBLE! He recites commercials in the middle of debates. he reads poems and talks about the people the wrote them like you should know the author.I will never take him again! his class requires debates and a confusing paper and he is a total all hole about it!
The Good News: BUT if you come to class, PAY ATTENTION, and do the work. You will learn a lot and get an A. The Test are open book, and the debates can be fun, once you get the hang of it. The Bad News: He's Quirky, and sometimes quick tempered, also there's a lot of group work. If you can deal with all that - take the class. You won't regret it.
Get a voice recorder and you will be set. Test's are difficult because you must understand the material, he is a little nuts but fair.
He is actually a great teacher. He has no time for stupidity so if you are lazy and ignorant you will hate him. do the work and you will be rewarded. Everyone here who hates him is probably arrogant. It's funny watching him flip out on people who cause their own problems. He is understanding and will truly help you if you need it.
Place in teams but teammates can hold back some of each teammates and Clarity wasn't goo enough and fast pace and won't slow down and question on test are not simply or easy to answer
Great Professor! He really cares about his students and teaches the material in a way that is easier to understand than what is provided in the text. Open book and notes test, but this won't help you unless you understand the information, because there is a 1hr 15min time limit. Very quirky so you must ignore the names in he uses in examples.
This professor is a great instructor and has a passion for what he teaches. He is a bit strange but that is great because it keep you interested in uninteresting material. He is high energy and keeps you engaged. He is realistic about his exams which are open book/notes but you need to understand the material or the book/notes won't help you.
He knows his stuff and is helpful at times. But his tests and debates are difficult. Team mates can affect your grade so consider the Alternative Grading Contract he gives you. If you want an easy A, look for another professor.
Very difficult. Tests are only based on lecture and the tests are extremely difficult. Debates are a waste and expects us to learn from that.
He was terrible. He didn't care that group work was not working out and that group members did not cooperate. All the work we turned in as a group received grades between 40-80. My own work received anywhere between 80-100. But he didn't care! Useless!
If you want the best education. Where you are going to learn he most. He is your man. The best teacher when you are prepare to sit for your CPA exam. TAKE HIM!!!
awful. exams made no sense. didnt care about who did what in the group work. avg grade was like a C-
Horrible professor. The test made no sense at all..
He is very condescending and full of himself when talking to students. Exams are open note and open book but are still incredibly difficult, debates are okay but he will shut you down, team paper was a joke he gave every team the same grade, team evaluations are subjective and deduct points off your final grade which is ridiculous. Avoid this man.
He is a very knowledgeable and decent man. Great stories in the class. You can actually learn things from him. He respects you only if you respect him. As long as you go to the class and study for the exam, sure you will do fine. Do not blame him for your own lazy.
Gives you a chance to change the weighting of every single grade throughout the term. Very fair and super intelligent man. He projects his voice and gives pretty good lectures. Debates are fun and make you learn a lot.
He is a demanding Prof. If you put in the effort you will do well. It is important to read the chapters and prepare for class.
This class is tough, but he gives plenty of opportunities to do well. If you do all the extra credit and all the homework you're golden, but you definitely need to focus and take good notes.
Horrible professor, do not even think about taking him. Very rude and obnoxious. If you go to him for help he will basically make you feel stupid and laugh at your mistakes.
Very few grades throughout the whole term, if you fail the tests you won't pass the class. Assigned groups for the whole term, if your team doesn't do their work he doesn't care. Goes off on tangents about situations not related to class and his "sci-fi" writing. Also loves to call people out in class. Nothing positive came out of this class
One word - Horrible. Doesn't even realize that this is the first time most students are taking law and that he should be a little bit understanding with them. Expects professional level work from students and deducts points from final grade for the smallest mistakes. Take him if you want to kill your GPA.
Ok Professor. does not realize that for most students its our first law class. Due to his high expectations on the performance of his exams. Needs to Chill, Notes can be confusing based on him not being clear or wanting to repeat anything he says. Can be rude to students who ask questions, sort of puts them down and makes them feel uncomfortable.
Has unrealistic expectations for the type of class he's teaching. It's possible to do well, but only if you enjoy law classes, or put an inordinate amount of effort in. He ended up spending far more time bragging about previous law experience than teaching. And he also irrationally angry about almost anything. Take any other law professor.
VERY RUDE. does not care about student learning curve on every test because students are doing so poorly
He was a very knowledgable about what he was talking about but his lectures most of the time rambled on to the point no one understood what he was talking about. I literally didn't attend class half the time and I still thought he was awful at teaching. Went into this open minded and came out confused and annoyed. Power Points are awful.
Absolutely outstanding professor! All bad feedback is exclusively due to students' laziness. One of the professors that give you a solid foundation in your education. Yes, you will have to work hard but that's what college-level education is for. If you want knowledge, absolutely take him. Plus he is entertaining and simply hilarious.
This class was a mess from the start due to the fact that he grades things weeks late and posts stuff the night before a class after midnight and expects you to have at least have opinions on it coming into class that is absurd. He allows you to have note cards for exams doesn't help unless you attend class and listen to his opinion of law.
Just dont take him. His class is trash
First, he does not answer your questions clearly if you ask the question that is already discussed in the class, which happened on the first day of class. Second, he asked us to buy an e-book and never use it during the entire period of the class. I do not understand why he mislead us to buy the book. (do not REMOVE my comment this time)
He is prestigious and knows about the law well. He does not give you homework, which you might think this is an advantage of taking his class. HOWEVER, he wants us to take a note when he orally explains the lecture. He allows us to record his voice instead of slowing down his voice, which may be a HUGE problem for the students who take this class.
One of the hardest courses I ever had to take. Get ready to work for that grade! It didn't feel like a business law course, just law. He does provide lots of opportunity to pass with videos and notes, but if you dont get the material, you wont pass. STUDY! He's very rude and meticulous. Will lecture to the very last second of class. Be prepared!
The class wasnt easy, very intensive workload. Really easy to to get behind if you slack off. But he gave good feedback, and was easy to contact if you needed him. He was also pretty flexible with us, when he realized we werent ready to turn in a project he extended the due date instead of letting us fail.
I'm usually intimidated by discussion based courses and this was no exception. This course is wholly just a discussion class but, the professor was very straightforward and accommodating. He gives all students a chance to speak up and leads the classes very well.
If you have to take this class DO NOT take it with him! Doesn't care about his students and their grades would rather watch them fail than watch them succeed. So unbearably rude, doesn't stop talking and doesn't give students time to ask questions. Doesn't give extra credit and only offers two extra credits that not everyone can attend.
If I could give this professor a 0 rating I would. He does not care for his students nor help. When asked to clarify something, I was told to look it up and figure it out. Tests make no sense and they consist of material that was never taught. Do not waste your time on the flash cards. Participation is impossible. DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE/ PROFESSOR
As long as you show up and pay attention to the lectures, you'll do good in his class, there's plenty of material for practice before exams, and unlimited index cards are allowed, most of what the feedbacks are complaining about can be easily resolved. This is college show up and put in the work, no one else is going to do it for you.
Exams are difficult, and he does very little to help students feel supported. If possible take courses with different professors
- readings every day, every class, long and boring stories - Large amount of papers that are difficult to please him with, highly opinion based but does not like you opinion will grade lower - Tests require memorization of titles and authors of every single thing read - this is my second time with this prof. first time loved, now I highly dislike
