He is a great professor, but that doesn't mean he's easy. He expects his students to learn and understand EVERYTHING he talks about in lecture, but you can walk away from the class with a much deeper understanding of chemistry.

Some call it passion, I tend to think it's obsession. Dr. T (not Mister) is a pretty good teacher, but chemistry at UB is difficult in general unless you really are into it. TA's are variable, it's the luck of the draw. Exams are somewhat difficult, but most should be able to get a C without trouble

Boring boring boring. Sure he can teach, but it was boring. Perhaps it was the subject, or perhaps it was because the TA's were absolutely unhelpful and copied what the answers were on the board... barely able to explain what they were attempting to 'teach'.

For those who are interested in chemistry his class is great.If you don't find chemistry interesting however, even Takeuchis obvious entheusiasm isn't sufficient to prevent you from being bored out of your mind.

Wicked nice guy. One of the best professors i've had at UB. If you go see him at office hours, he'll answer any questions you have, and then talk to you about everything from chemistry to his kids to what you want to do after college. A good teacher, and an overall really awesome guy.

Dr. Takeuchi is the sweetest man. He really cares about chemistry and teaching. He tries really hard to give us every kind of example that we can see. But, as good as he is, if you get a non-english speaking TA, you're screwed

Takeuchi is a really good prof. he explains everything thoroughly and gives a lot of examples. He also repeats himself a lot which is helpful if you doze off for a few minutes.:)

Takeuchi is the best professor! He loves to teach his students, and tries to make sure all of his students do well. He is the nicest person and very easy to approach. Always available to help anyone in need. Take takecuchi b/c he's the best. Exams are hard but if you listen during lecture, you'll be fine

Words aren't enough for this teacher. I would like to invite anyone who wants 2 see a great course 2 one of his lectures. It is helpful 2 go 2 lectures, 2 ask TA's or even him-he lightensup ur day! It's true that he teaches like a father and makes you understand so easily("Wham"). You'll make the right choice if you take his course.

Everybody seems to love this man. He's okayish. Not great. Kind of Yoda-ish in his mannerisms, and a friendly guy, but I didn't think he was the best person when it came to really conveying some topics. Its hard to gauge whether he is a tough prof. at these lower-level classes since all the chem profs make up the exams. Better than Barton.

Great teacher! I mean, the material gets pretty intense, especially if you struggle in science, but this teacher really helps you!!! His examples make is so easy to understand the material, and I dunno what it is, but his teaching method is great! He does have his humerous moments too! Def reccommend him!!!

HE was AWESOME!!! Go to every lecture though...and take good notes. He tells you EXACTLY what to study and is super helpful during office hours! Tests are easy!!! (ALL multiple choice!!!). I suggest you read the chapters & make note of the figures that he does...He's quite enjoyable in lecture to although he tends to ramble a bit, very intersting!

AWESOME teacher! One of the few chem professors I ever met whose class I didn't fall asleep in. Makes chemistry interesting and I learned a lot. Tells you what to study for exams and such. HIGHLY recommend!

dont even bother doing to the TAs office hours theyre no help at all! if you see dr takeuchi in his office hours for just 5 minutes, its ALOT of help! my only suggestion is to do as many textbook practice problems, sample exercises, and practice online tests, and to use EXTREME CAUTION on the tests. theres alot of tricks and traps in the exams!!

Dr. Takeuchi is one of the best professors at UB. An extremely dedicated and caring teacher, he truly wants his students to do well. Attending lectures is mandatory and if you put in your studying, it is quite easy to do well in his class. Would highly recommend him!

i absolutly loved him. i never took college chem before but i can safly say he knows what hes doing and will probobly be one of the best professors i will ever have. the material is hard but he tries to make it as simple as possible. he does everything he can and expects u to put in ur share of studying in order to do well. take him! awesome guy

Awesome professor! HE genuinely cares about his students doing well. Sure Chem is not easy you have to do the work but there's always help avaiable, you just have to seek it out. Watch out for some of TA's as some have no clue what they are doing and give you the wrong answers on labs.

really funny teacher who is willing to answer any question, keeps "boring" material interesting with humor, explains topics clearly and i also like how he doesnt get distracted when 75% of the class is talking over him, really the only drawback to the course is the dumb kids talking in it but if you pay attention its an easy A

Dr. T. is the greatest professor. He genuinely cares about his students learning and what they can do with their knowledge. Read the book, go to lecture, and go to office hours - it's definitely worth it. He changed how I think about chemistry and what I can do with it.

Dr. Takeuchi deserves to go down in the Professors' Hall of Fame here in Buffalo! He can make you completely interested in the subject even if it's just for a Gen. Ed. He's not an easy professor, but if you don't understand something, he's more than willing and able to help you. If you can get Dr. Takeuchim GET HIM!!

BEST CHEM PROFESSOR EVER!!! alot of the stories he told in lecture actually helped me remember the materials that came up on the exam. very passionate about what he's teaching. the way he explains things makes lecture EXTREMELY helpful so just attend all the lectures and you'll do fine. definitely wouldn't mind taking him again.

Dr. T is really excited about the stuff he teaches, and that gets the students excited and engaged too. He really encourages students to ask questions in class, and if you don't understand something he is more than willing to go over it with you until you get it. He actually cares that his students do well. Dr. T is the best!

Takeuchi is a great professor. Helpful and clear. I've seen him spend his entire office hours helping one student with homework. TONS of homework. You will learn a lot, and the tests aren't too bad (for chemistry), but there is just tons of homework. If you're a masochist, take Takeuchi. Lots of work, but great prof.

One of the best professors at UB. He really cares about each and every one of his students. Even if chem is not your favorite he makes it interesting. He is always willing to help when you need it. Overall great guy and great professor!

Everyone else loves him, but he's not really my cup of tea personality-wise. He's often cavalier about his subject. He gives pep talks regularly, which rubs me the wrong way. Also, he really loves application of concepts (he thinks he's very clever for coming up with examples that most people with some determination could think up). Try him out.

He always goes over in detail what will be on his tests, which are not that hard. The homework is long and kind of hard but it prepares you. If you have a chance, take him!!!

Dr. T wants all of his students to be the very best. He cares about whether you do good or bad and will help until you completely understand. Also, he chooses T.A.s that are top quality. This class goes more in depth then the regular chem classes, but it is worth it. I would recommend this class to anyone who will work and wants to go far.

You Won't find a better chem professor than him @ UB. Homeworks are extensive, along with a research project in the 106 Section, work is intense but well worth it. A+ GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS

Dr T is one of the best educators in the SUNY system and he really cares about the individual success of each one of his students. He covers topic clearly and while he does expect a lot from his students he provides all the tools you need to meet these expectations. I recommend him to any student.

He is the man! Honestly best teacher iv ever had and favorite class of college.. In his office hours he basically tells you whats on tests. It is alot of work but then you really know your stuff after doing it. He tries pushing his students cause he thinks they will all be njoobel prize winners. Best professor at UB! Best professor ever! If you have him for either CHE101 or 102 you just DO NOT DROP his class. He is best, and he wants his class to know better than any other section's classes. Take him, and read textbook and you will definitely manage to get A.

Best professor I ever had in UB so far. I really loved his class. He loves his students who wants to study hard, and who shows efforts and respects to his class. He definitely teaches a LOT to help you to ace the exams. He def. knows how to teach and let students understand better. No matter what, NEVER DROP THIS CLASS! IT IS HARD TO GET IN!! :)

Takeuchi is very enthusiastic about chemistry and really wants his students to do well. His lectures are provided online so you can print them out and follow along during class. He's willing to answer questions. I felt like he was more organized during the first half of the semester and rushed a little towards the end. 2 tests and a final.

Tremendous professor. Enjoyed every moment of class. He knows what he is doing and better yet enjoys what he does making his class enjoyable. The down side is that he is leaving the University, he will be missed.
