Dr. Walters is a very good teacher his class is just very difficult. Only has 3 tests and 1 paper ( practically only grades grammar not content, very annoying)..tests are very hard need to study but dont really need the book he outlines everything. Overall good class, wierd guy

Dr. Walters is a great teacher. He is always well prepared for class and throws in his own bit of awkward humor at times. 2 papers and 3 tests. Tests are very difficult so you need to put quite a bit of time into studying for them. Very bright man, I recommend taking any class he teaches.
I learned so much in this class. Walters is an excellent professor. He is fair and challenging. Tests are very hard so study days beforehand. I wouldn't recommend taking this class with any other professor, you wouldn't get the same results.
Dr. Walters is the funniest guy, if you can understand his humor. What people need to understand is that this is a 300-level class, and he makes it hard so that we are prepared for graduate school. He's a genius. And he's very handsome, which makes it even more fun! I love Dr. Walters! :)
Great professor, hilarious & makes even the most complicated subject easy to understand. You just have to be prepared to study a LOT. You will learn a ton in his classes & appreciate it a lot at the end of the day. LOVE him :) Know that when it comes to tests he's a hard grader, but he notices it when you don't make excuses & improve your work.
I don't understand why he has all good ratings on here. I am currently in his class and everyone i talk to can't stand his grading or tests. He is typical type a personality and takes of numerous points for spelling and messiness. If there was a different teacher people would not take his class. I am all for studying hard but this is out of control
He was a great teacher. He's funny, speaks very clearly and knows his material. His tests ARE hard, and they should be. It's meant to prepare you for future courses. Textbook is only needed to help you understand material but if you know the notes front and back, you will do good. I recommend him for those who want to do well in psychology
Professor Walters tests focus primarily on rote memorization and they are extremely hard. You will learn a lot in this class but prepare to settle with a B or C. If he changed the format of his tests to include more questions of application, then he would be a great prof. His food analogies and clarity are what separate him for the avg. professor.
Dr. Walters is an excellent professor, who takes his material and job very seriously. The class itself is difficult and work-intensive, but very interesting and only requires that you put forth the effort and listen. He explains everything well and is willing to help anyone with a problem. If you do the readings and work, then you will succeed.
Dr. Walters is an excellent teacher. His tests are hard, but they are straight from the notes and there is no other work involved. He has a great personality and the class is very interesting. I would recommend him to anyone.
Dr. Walters knows the material very well and makes it relatively simple to understand. Be prepared to do about 3 nights of studying for the exams though, but if you do, then you shouldn't have any problems. Study from both your notes and the textbook and there is no reason for failing the class. I'd definately reccomend additonal classes with him.
Excellent professor. His courses (including 270) are not an easy A but if you put in the work it is possible. The class requires a lot of studying but he explains the material very well and doesn't try to trick students on exams. Memorization is key for exams but they aren't impossible. One of the most competent, intelligent, and helpful professors
Those who rate Dr. Walters poorly simply do not put the effort to do well in his class and/or expect an easy A. Dr. Walters has high expectations for his students and expects you to learn a lot, which you will if you do the work (which isn't hard); he's very willing to help anyone. If you actually want to learn, take any class you can with him.
Dr. Walters is the best professor in the psych department. He is extremely helpful and the test are straight from the notes and textbook. If you study for the exams there is no reason you can't get at least a B. Eat before class because he talks about food and you will be starving.
Dr.Walter's class is challanging but in a good way.He pushes students to do well and get the most out of class which is a skill that can be transferred over to other college class. He is one of the best lecturer that I have ever had.The tests are difficult but I wouldn't recommend taking abnormal with anyone else because you won't get as much out
Dr. Walters is very passionate about what he teaches and this is evident in his classes. Although his courses aren't simply "easy As', I would recommend taking them with him if you want an enjoyable and valuable learning experience. He also has a good sense of humor, but i would recommend eating before class.. he makes a lot of food references!
Dr. Walter's is a fantastic teacher. Grading's a little rough, but once you figure out how he words his tests it's not that bad at all. Just put some effort into actually studying the material and you should be pretty alright. Overall he's been one of the best profs I've had, and to this day I still remember practically everything I've learned.
Dr. Walters is clear and interactive.
Dr. Walters is one of the best professors in the psychology department. He takes his work very seriously and expects the same of his students. Put the effort in and you will do just fine. Be prepared to STUDY. It will be well worth it in the end.
If you meet his standards of professional behavior and work ethic (which are arguably high, but at a college level are quite reasonable), you will do great in his courses. He is a very capable professor, and taking his courses were extremely beneficial experiences. Oneonta has lost a real gem.
Dr. Walters is one of my favorite professors. Don't get that confused with being easy. His courses are challenging, but I learned a lot from them! Isn't that was college is all about? He will be greatly missed
Walters has very high standards for his students and tests are challenging, but he encourages questions and is more than willing to help his students. Overall, amazing learning experience!
I enjoyed Prof. Walter's classes very much even though they were hard. He was also the first professor I went to during office hours when I was a freshman and he was very helpful and respectful to me even though I wasn't doing well in his class. I am sorry he is leaving.
Dr. Walters is the best professor in the psych department. I have never learned as much from another professor as I have from him. While some students disagree, it is simply because they are not willing to put forth the effort to do well because his classes aren't "easy as". He prepares us for graduate school and will be missed dearly.
Dr. Walters expects students to put forth a dedicated effort and use correct grammar and comprehensible writing. His tests are straightforward and fair. He gives examples that stimulate contemplation and analysis of the class material. Every class was engaging, and I remember so much of what he taught us. Fantastic professor with a sense of humor.
Dr. Walters presents the class material in a clear, effective, and engaging way. He is very helpful with any questions, and his teasing and food references compliment a comfortable yet appropriate learning environment.
Great professor. Currently taking Abnormal with him. Very clear about what is required for the class. Tests are hard, definitely do not take the exams lightly. Entertaining in class though; taking him next semester for Personality.
Good teacher, he's very good in explaining everything he covers in class. Attendance is a must, if you miss a class you miss pages worth of notes. The tests are pretty hard so definitely study as much as you can for them. Overall very enjoyable class. I would recommend him.
He is not a horrible teacher but he is not a great one either. His test are very hard. 30 multiple choice and 20 open ended. I don't recommend him. His study guide powerpoints he put up were useless. You really have to read, re-read, take notes and pretty much go over everything. STUDY HARD!
walters was a great teacher. he was very clear and his test questions are almost word for word from his lecture slides. he expects you to know the information well but thats what makes him a good teacher. i plan on taking another class with him, i learned a lot and he couldn't have done more to help me succeed. smart, smart man.
Honestly, the complaints are not warranted. I am a FRESHMAN taking this class and I will have an A+ at the end of it (drops lowest test so I know). This man is a great professor and I wish he was teaching where I am transferring to. He expects a lot out of his students but the grade is achievable if you work and study hard like you should anyway.
Dr. Walters is highly experienced in psychology and this comes across in the information he teaches. Although the tests can be challenging, they are not trick questions. Everything he tests comes right from what he lectures. He challenges students to work to their best ability. He is excited y what he teaches which makes the class more enjoyable.
Prof Walters is one of the most knowledgeable and helpful professors I have worked with. He is very willing to work with students to ensure they understand the material. I highly recommend taking a course with him, as I will be taking my second next fall.
If you're thinking of doing a research internship, Dr. Walters is your guy. He is genuinely interested in his field of work and he passes that dedication on to you. You're not going to feel like you're going through the motions to get your credits and grade. He makes you feel like you're doing something worthwhile and relevant. Very intelligent.
Dr. Walters is a GREAT professor. He is incredibly knowledgable and very dedicated to student learning. Be warned though, he is not an easy professor. He challenges students to do their best. Tests are detailed and thorough but not impossible. Would gladly take him again!
Excellent professor. Engages the class. Expects a lot out of students but if you are willing to learn, he is definitely willing to help. Would definitely recommend people to enroll in his class. Do your work and you'll do well. Simple as that.
Dr. Walters provided a well-structured, highly organized class with clear guidelines that made online learning enjoyable. He is very clear, helpful, and responds to e-mails in a timely manner. The work load was manageable, and questions on tests were straight-forward. Despite the amount of reading, the textbook is fun and easy to understand. Kudos!
Dr. Walters is a tough but fair kinda guy. Attendance is not mandatory, but what he lectures is on the exam. He even tells you what you should pay attention to when studying. Overall, there are 4 exams and he drops the lowest grade. It helps paying attention that he has a southern accent.
Professor Walters was made to teach college students! Not only are you going to get a top education in his class, but be entertained for the entire class. 4 exams, drops the lowest, that is it. Has high standards and expects professionalism. Exams might be channeling for some. Study slides and read chapters, you'll do great! Walters is a must take!
best profesor i've had. 4 exams drops the lowest. this class is challenging and difficult but so rewarding. if you take the time and put effort into the class you wont have a problem at all. such a beneficial class!
While the course material can be challenging, he presents it in a clear orderly fashion to help students learn easier. This is a class that will make you study and pay attention, but you'll learn a lot of useful information. If you're going into a study that requires this class and will use this knowledge, I highly recommend it.
Dr. Walters is a very good teacher. He is fair but quite challenging. He expects success from all of his students but is very willing to help us get there. His policies are strict but fair. I learned so much in his class and highly suggest him if you are willing to put in some effort. You will learn so much in his class!
one of the best professors at Southern. Very clear on what he wants. His tests can be difficult but if you pay attention and study you will be fine. His lectures were always fun and interesting. GREAT CLASS!!
This class was easy! I hardly attended. The only thing is print every power point for each test and know it like the back of your hand and you will get a good grade on each test. Material is interesting and fairly easy to understand. Walters will always answer your questions too!
The class itself is easy, because the only grade you get is based on the four exams, and he drops your lowest. That being said, he is off-track frequently, spends half the class talking about food and how we are falling behind and need to speed up, takes hours to go over brief chapters. Doesn't let you go to the bathroom or come in late.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AN EASY A. Great class and learned A LOT. Walters is tough but extremely fair. Must come to class and study for tests. Best part about this class is that ALL of his test questions come directly from his powerpoints. Study and you will get an A!
Hard class but wonderful and u will learn alot. NEED to study for tests. As long as you know the information highlighted and underlined in the powerpoints you will be FINE. He takes questions right from the pwrpoints. ONE TIP: powerpoints are enough! u don't need to buy book, just pretend you bought it and do the readings. save yourself some money!
Great professor. Very smart, kind, and helpful. extremely organized, very clear and concise. Learned a lot & not too much work. 4 tests, all ppts online, no surprises. may be intimidating at first, but simply expects students to act like adults.
Class is challenging and policy is strict, but not unreasonably so. Very knowledgeable and willing to answer all questions from his students. Getting an A is possible, but not easy. Covers a lot of material but is very clear with details and explanations.
This professor is one of my favorites at Southern. He tells his class exactly what he expects from his students, and gives 4 multiple choice exams (not cumulative). He then proceeds to drop the lowest one, so if you study the notes, you'll pass the class. I didn't buy the book for this class or PSY 228, and I got A's in both. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!
This class is challenging because of the amount of info. you need to know but anyone can do well by studying & going to class every day. This professor makes sure to answer all questions and he tells you exactly what will be on the test, there are no surprises. He is one of the best psych professor I have had. Very clear, nice,& loves what he does.
The quizzes/test weren't hard as long as you took the time to look for the answers in the textbook. There's no reason for someone not to get an A or B in this class
This online class was intro to mental health. I really enjoyed the class and I think anyone who is in the psychology field and is not positive what direction they want to go with it after college should absolutely take it with Dr. Walters. Dr. Walters is by far one of my favorite professors at SCSU (this is my 3rd class with him).
Great class. online and easy if you read the book. Tests were easy to, use powerpoint. Now reason not to get an A in this class. Prof. Walters is a great teacher and person.
I took Dr. Walters for PSY 471 and 472 in the fall of 2014. This class met on Wednesdays for 3.5 hours. I thoroughly enjoyed his lectures. He is far from a dry speaker. He made those sometimes long, dreadful 3.5 hours exciting, humorous, and productive. He is very clear about what he expects from his students and holds them to those standards.
Dr. Walters is a perfect example of what your college teachers should be like. The material is straight forward and is explained thoroughly. Dr. Walters has high standards, but you will his standards will behoove you. I enjoyed being in this class and i am grateful for what i learned from Dr. Walters.
Dr. Walters is stern but fair. You must attend class & participate to pass. It is not an easy A class, you must put in the work and do the reading. It isn't strenuous reading but necessary. Also, I recommend you get busy putting in your Field hours early on in the semester. The weeks progress quickly and you will not pass 472 without 150 hours.
Great professor. Every thing on the tests are directly from the lectures and powerpoint notes. Epitome of what you give is what you get. The standard is set high in his classes but if you put in the necessary work a good grade is very achievable. There are 4 tests and he drops the lowest. He's knowledgable and willing to help, highly recommend.
Dr. Walters is AWESOME! I transferred to Southern, I had him for all 2 years and I can say he has been the greatest and truest professor I've come in contact with EVER! He pushes you to reach your highest potential in not just his class but in all of your classes. You must work hard! and he drops the lowest exam, doesn't get any better then that!
Prof. Walters is by far the most professional, clear cut, and organized professor I've had at SCSU. He holds high expectations but it isn't hard to do well in his class as long as you pay attention! Class attendance isn't required but hearing lectures firsthand helps you ace the course, and he knows who goes and who doesn't. He's also pretty funny!
You have four tests, they come exactly from the lectures. You get to drop the lowest test grade. The tests are meant to be challenging. He is a psychology professor, he knows how give effective tests to make sure you understand the material. If you study in advance, you'll be fine. He says you need the book but you never use it. Lectures are online
He is a tough but fair professor. All the material is provided to you via ppt including chapter study questions from day one. He has a no late/early leaving policy, as well as no cellphones, but he does engage the class a lot. Overall, a very funny guy and wants students to succeed. If you put effort into learning then he will support and help you.
Tough professor, tough class. Lots of information so tests are detail oriented. Textbook is not needed, just memorize his power points. Loves to talk about himself, but has great clinical experience. Be prepared to work hard, but overall good class.
One of the best professors in the Psychology department at SCSU. Dr. Walters is caring and compassionate and creates a positive and motivating learning environment. The work may be tough, yet tough is not a bad thing. Put 100% effort! He knows his subject matter and teaches with great passion. He pushes you to reach your greatest potential!
Very good professor, very clear with expectations and always willing to help if you don't understand. Attendance isn't mandatory, but skipping lectures won't help your grade. Study the information down to specific details for the exams and you'll be fine. Not a very difficult course.
By far the best Professor I have EVER had. There are 4 exams, and the lowest is dropped. But don't game the system, it doesn't help you at all! Make sure you memorize and thoroughly understand EVERY powerpoint slide for the exams. Honestly, wish I could take his class over again. Loved him.
Dr. Walters is a great teacher. He holds four exams (one during final period but it isn't a 'final'), and drops your lowest grade. His exams are 50 multiple questions on a Scantron but the material is difficult. He holds engaging lectures and all of the PowerPoints are on blackboard for you to keep. He is a nice guy and is willing to help.
I took the personality class with Dr. Walters and I loved it! Four exams, lowest one dropped, everything he goes over in class is available on a PowerPoint throughout the entire semester. His exams are extremely tough and nit-picky but it's just because he truly cares about his students and wants them to be educated. He make you work for it
Dr. Walters is probably the best teacher I have ever had at Southern. I took both 228 and 320 with him and loved every minute of it. He is such a good teacher and wants you to do well. The material is hard at times but he helps as much as he can to make sure you do well. Leaving his class you will have learned so much information, it is worth it.
Amazing Teach that Challenges you. DO you have to attend class? Nope, just study lecture notes. but he does help you to better understand them but honestly just know notes word for word and you should be more than good to pass with an A one thing though everything is on the test so you need to know every word on those notes
Why are these ppl lying. This class is hard have to spent 5plus hours of your day studying for that class. Have to know every word on the slide in order to get good grade.
Excellent online set up, very organized, clear expectations, cut and dry grading criteria, the entire book is used, quizzes and tests are all open book this is why I say Easy A, there's no reason you can't score an A in this class unless you don't do the work. Responds quickly, understands things happen, cares about your success and is just NICE!
Professor Walters really cares about his students and wants them to succeed. There are 4 exams total and he drops your lowest score so it's really important to study and take his exams seriously. He is really knowledgable, especially if you're in the mental health concentration. Great professor overall and would definitely recommend!
If you're good a test taking then by all means take this class. Based on 4 tests ONLY. No class participation or homework and there is no extra credit. The chapters to study for are super long and a lot of material. He hates when you get up to use the bathroom, he will stop class just to call you out. Theres no review sheet either.
Absolutely loved Dr. Walters! His class is hard don't get me wrong, but it was so worth it and I feel like I learned a lot. Class is 4 exams and he drops the lowest. But he really wants his students to do well and is overall a nice guy and great professor.
Class is all about lectures, but he is great at them! Slideshow has everything you need to know. Class itself is really easy, usually a lecture hall of 100 students. Class is based on only 4 tests. All only 50 questions and its right from the slides. Take this course, he tries to say its hard, but it really isn't. -from Basic Average B Student
Prof. Walters is great! He first makes it seems like it's hard but not at all. Drops lowest test. Only 4 tests, n homework, no papers, no textbook needed. Just read all the powerpoints and write notes. He has great examples/analogy, very understanding IF you are willing to go to office hours and talk to him. I enjoyed the course, interesting too.
Pretty solid prof. Doesn't just stand at there and drone on, he walks around and talks to people a little. I could have done with less complaining about his mother though, and didn't like that we cannot use the bathroom. Only 4 exams and he drops the lowest grade. Attendance not mandatory but if you're late, he will take a point off your grade.
Dr. Walters is one of the best professors at SCSU. His exams are multiple choice, but hard multiple choice. There are a lot of A, B, C, D: Both A and B, E: none of the above type questions that make the exams challenging but not impossible if you study hard for them. This class isn't an easy A, but I would definitely take one of his classes again.
He is the best professor at this campus
Dr. Walters is brilliant and yes, a little eccentric. He truly wants every student to succeed and it shows. His lectures are extremely interesting and he gives real life examples from his career to help you understand material on a deeper level. There are only 4 exams which are challenging but an A is very attainable if you work hard!
Dr. Walters is a great advisor, very professional and is very good at teaching. He can come off as "strict" but you will then realize that he only wants his students to achieve more than they believe they can. He is the type of professor who makes you want to keep learning. Exams are multiple choice, easy to pass if you actually read your textbook
I've taken one of his class lectures before and he can come off as really tough (even via syllabus) but it's tough love. He'll push you to use your fullest potential. He's a professor who actually cares that his students learn the material. As long as you read the book/slides and apply concepts to the quizzes/exams you should get an A or B grade.
Only gives four exams that are very tough, he is a funny guy which makes the class more interesting but as far as class goes, he moves fast. If you struggle with test taking then you are in trouble.
Professor Walters is the best professor I have ever had. Lectures are interesting and he's very funny, he explains every little bit so everybody understands everything. He tries his best to interact with students to keep the lecture alive. Class is based off 4 exams that aren't that easy but passable. If you have test anxiety this will be harder.
4 exams, drops the lowest. That is literally it. He cares a lot about his students but has high expectations. He made the content easy to understand. You HAVE to study the powerpoints and "know them like the back of your hand". He said that in the beginning of the semester, I listened, and it's true. He's a tough guy and wants equality for all.
Dr. Walters is awesome. I had him for my internship seminar and he made the class very professional while also having fun! He is a tough grader but you learn a lot from him. My writing got significantly better over the course. You need to try hard and you will do awesome in his class!
Dr. Walters comes off as very tough only because he pushes students to their fullest potential. YOU WILL LEARN A LOT in his class. Getting the book will help you understand the material better. 3 exams & 2 essay exams, BE SURE TO SEE A WRITING or PSYCH TUTOR BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR ESSAYS.
I took PSY 220 online over the summer with Prof Walters. He was a really nice guy, very understanding of my busy work schedule with turning in assignments. His syllabus was clear and concise so I always knew what was due and when. I really liked how this class was set up!
Professor Walters really makes you work for the grade you want to receive. You can't put in "C" effort and receive higher than that. He goes over slideshow lectures very vividly and highlights the important information. Attendance to class and attention to lecture is crucial to receive many 'tidbit' details that may not be on the slideshow notes.
usual professor, but more on the difficult end. Get graded by weekly quizzes which are easy, but the exams are very tough, you really need to study but if you put in the work you will do fine. Make sure you do good on those exams and quizzes, that is all he grades you on.
This is my second time having him but this semester it was online due to covid. Made it super easy and clear. 10 question quizzes on each chapter which was really easy as long as you read the chapter. 4 exams and everything is in the lectures he posted. Definitely reccommend taking him!! Hes super nice and is willing to help you if needed.
Professor Walters seemed scary at first. However, all he wants is to see his students succeed. The class's grades are only tests and quizzes, however he makes them very manageable and sends many email reminders. If you don't complete them or study then you won't do great but if you pay attention to his emails you will have a great time.
I was honestly scared of him at first because he looked intense and I knew he meant buisiness from listening to him talk the first class. But now that I got to know him, I really like him and he makes classes fun by including real life examples from himself and students. He also explains material REALLY well so everybody can understand.
I seriously dont know how he doesnt have more ratings. I would DEFINITELY recommend taking him. We started off on the wrong foot but hes great. I started his class thinking that it was gonna be the one class Id fail but its the one class Im excelling at. Easy A if you study because he gives clear grading criteria and amazing study guides.
You cannot not understand the material because he will explain it in every way possible and you'll feel like you can ask him questions. His lectures include stories from his own life (which are a real treat). Love that man, I hope I can take another one of his classes.
Prof Walters is a great professor. If you like heavier lecture classes then he is the guy for you. His class is strictly lectures but hes fantastic at it. Class is graded on only 4 exams. He drops the lowest exam grade. Content is hefty but if you show up and study you'll pass easily. Hes very realistic and honest. If available I 100% recommend him
Grade is determined by 4 tests but the lowest grade out of the 4 is dropped which helps a lot. Make a quizlet!! I cannot stress this enough. Take the information directly off his slides & on to the quizlet & use the little tools quizlet gives you & you WILL BE FINEEE. Honestly one of the best profs ive had in a very long time.
Dr. Walters is very straight-forward. This class is not an easy A, you need to put in the work. He will tell you this, as he just wants his students to do well. Attend class and study the lecture slides. There are 4 exams, he drops the lowest one. His lectures fly by as he uses relevant examples to keep the class engaged. He is AWESOME!
I took him in person with a class of about 60 others. We had a lot of material to cover so he blew through it, but his PowerPoints are used in class and accessible online. He only had three exams and final that were all multiple choice but the wording was somewhat tricky. He's a good teacher but try not to get caught up in his personal stories.
Too Many slides with too much on them. I showed up to every class and took good notes, and studied and still couldn't pass. This is the only class and professor I withdrew from
If Psych is your major, you MUST take him. Textbook was optional. He is the best Psych professor at SCSU. He seems intimidating, but as long as you show up, take your notes and listen, then you'll do amazing. He is a very funny guy, has that dry humor that is just too funny. Talk to him about wings. Pay attention and you'll have the best semester!
I went to class every day and took notes and still received an F. The only assignments you have are exams nothing else. No extra credit and each exam get harder throughout the semester. If you love to read and do well under pressure
Dr. Kenneth Walters is very caring and wants all his students to do well, however, he won't put up with bullshit and can be very blunt, some may say cut-throat. But overall he is a great professor, would take again.
Best psychology class I ever took. Expectations were clear from the beginning and he adhered to them the entire semester. The textbook was optional as his lectures were excellent and provided all the information needed to pass the quizzes and exams. He's very nice and encourages you to do your best. You will not regret taking any of his classes.
Dr.Walters has a very clear set of rules that he introduces from the very beginning and sticks to throughout the semester without any exceptions. As amazing as his lectures are you have to put time in outside of class to study the lecture notes in order to succeed. MAKE USE OF OFFICE HOURS!
Honestly at first I really thought this class will suck, he seemed intimidating and scary but the more time I spent in the class I realized that this is just a man with a very clear outline for how he wants things run. Overall he is the best professor I ever had, his lectures were incredibly informative and used great examples! TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN!
He is a very passionate professor but he has a strict set of rules that is clearly stated in the syllabus. He has out of pocket comments but he keeps class interesting and you won't be bored! DO NOT BE LATE! He takes 1% off your final grade every day you are late. It is 100% worth taking his class and getting to know him because he knows his stuff.
Prof. Walters is knowledgeable but lectures were often sidetracked by unnecessary tangents/ examples w less time left over for the relevant material/questions. I was most successful in this class by memorizing the terms from his powerpoints which are made available at the start of the semester. Prepare ahead b/c the 4 exams alone makeup your grade.
Good guy, willing to lend a helping hand. Tests can be difficult if you aren't able to properly compartmentalize and distinguish between similar concepts so be sure to study his slides. If you know what's on the slides then you will do well in this class.
The BEST professor! Love his lectures, they were informative and easy to understand. His exams are tough, if you put in the work and study you will do well. I felt inspired by him. His instructions are concise and you will know exactly where you stand and what you have to do in order to do well in this class. I highly recommend Dr Walters.
He's not the worst professor I've had, he's very blunt and straightforward with how he wants things run (nothing wrong with that at all), but he was very condescending and rude to me when I would ask for help. Luckily I did well in the course (material is very manageable), but just don't get on his bad side. Yikessss.
The course itself was easy. Open note/book for all quizzes and exams. He says late work would be penalized by 15% in his syllabus but all quizzes and exams close and are not available after 10pm on the due date. I would've done better if I had not missed the first exam but I couldn't take it late anyways since it was not available on BB anymore.
Online asynchronous class, quizzes and exams are open note. Simply structured, a quiz after each chapter and three exams. Dr Walters gives clear instructions and you will know exactly what you have to do. If you have questions about the material he is prompt to respond to emails and provides great feedback. I strongly recommend Dr Walters.
Dr. Walters was FANTASTIC. His lectures will keep you engaged and wanting more. He explains them in ways you can understand and that will help you study. Attendance is not mandatory just don't be late as he will take a point off for each tardy (his reasoning makes perfect sense). His exams are difficult, if you don't go to class or study. Loved him
Don't say you weren't warned!
ONLY 4 EXAMS (scantron) drops 1. grades same day. Very good professor lectures are interesting he goes off topic to "relax" the class after learning something heavy. Takes 1% off final grade if late to class no points off if you don't come. lecture study for exam that's it. 1000% recommend would take again. A little funny. clear expectations.
There were only four tests, and that is it. He gives good examples and is passionate about what he does, but he is very blunt and sometimes comes off as rude. he likes to push test dates up but will tell you if he does.
4 exams, one is dropped. You don't need the textbook. I really like his lecture style and he posts all the slides beforehand. He can come off as strict but it doesn't affect your performance. Most people who write a bad review for this class are likely just bitter that they didn't study so they got a bad grade/had to drop.
Professor Walters is straight-forward and passionate. His lectures are informative, but exams can be challenging. Using unstuck AI and studying the slides are key to doing well.
Dr. Walters runs a straightforward class with clear expectations. His engaging lectures cover the material well, but you'll need to put in the work outside of class to succeed. unstuck AI can be a helpful study tool alongside the lecture slides.
I have had the pleasure of taking 3 courses with Dr. Walters and enjoyed his classes immensely. He is an expert and is always willing to help his students. He was a great mentor and he guided me throughout my application proccess to grad schools. You will truly learn A LOT of relevant information in his classes, you just have to put in the work!
Psychopharmacology was very interesting. One textbook is required. Dr. Walters had amazing lectures and explained each chapter in the textbook. The grade was based off of 4 essay exams. He is generous with grading the first exam and provides very informative feedback. He does not drop the lowest exam score. I highly recommend taking this class!
Dr. Walters is an amazing professor, this class was lecture heavy but he did cancel classes because we did not need the whole semester for all the information. Be prepared to take notes, attendance is not mandatory and does not affect grades but you should attend to not miss anything. All in all, he is helpful and cares about his students learning.
This is a class that is perfect for people who love listening to lectures without the pressure of having to memorize a large volume of material. The grading is just 3 essay exams that are all graded strictly but are open note. This professor will tell you EXACTLY what you need to do in order to suceed and get a good grade!
Lectures, readings, and presentations are structured. A disciplined class experience. If you want to learn from someone who knows how to teach, take his classes. If you want to take advantage of the non-mandatory attendance and cram before his tests or essays, you will do poorly. He is not going to waste your time, so do not waste his. 11/10
Structure: Just 4 exams, each has 50 multiple choice questions. No midterm, final, or any papers. However, the exams are not easy and are very detailed. Professor Walters is one of the best professors I've ever had. His teaching style is extremely effective, organized, and engaging. I have taken 2 classes with him and if I could take more I would.
Professor Walters is amazing! He is very kind and understanding, and if you are having tough times with the exams, read his syllabus—he directs you to set aside hours to study the material!! It is a lot (3 chapters to study for each monthly test), but if you study before class, during class, and even outside of class, you will succeed. Study hard!
Dr. Walters gives only three grades all semester, all essay exams. He is very clear about the required format, but will take off points for even the smallest errors. Extremely tough grader, so attention to detail is critical.
Dr. Walters is very clear he does not tolerate lateness and runs a tight ship. While he can be strict with attendance, he is so incredibly passionate about teaching and inspiring his students. He shares anecdotes from his own life and makes his content incredibly digestible. I will forever be grateful for the knowledge he has shared in this class
I took Psyc 228 with him; he is a great professor. I loved his lectures and learned a lot. my remcomendation to succeed would be to attend every class and study the powerpoints. This class only has 4 exams, and that's it; the lowest gets dropped. They are all based on the PowerPoints, so make sure to study those.
