Makes class fun, for the most part clear, he is very understanding
A fun class. A fantastic professor. Be prepared to work for this grade if you are somewhat behind but that is a no brainer. Limited homework and no required attendance. 4 tests, etc.
He seems to always let class out early. He puts material on tests that was not covered in class.
difficult class, but washington is very helpful...some advice: always do practice problems over and over again!!! cuz you think you know it, then you get a test and you mess up.
speaks very clearly and makes sure all students understand a concept before moving on. class is very enjoyable, he makes math fun!
Was told not to take him but did anyways. Dropped the class before the final. Does let class out early all the time and tests on material not covered in class. I WOULDNOT recommend anyone take his class!
Good teacher. Makes class fun. Definitely would take again.
Jus an average teacher. Your attitude and work will be exactly what your grade will be.
Very good teacher. Covers material well. Guides students well in learning the material.

Mr. Washington was one of the best Math teachers I have had at Tri-C. He relates Math to everyday situations so it keeps you interested.
one of the best teachers ive had
Has a tendency to go off on a tangent about things, but overall a good teacher.
The teacher does not cover enough time on material and frequently tells stories. Great personality though. I spent a few nights helping other classmates and almost everyone was failing. If you must take an evening class, read ahead in the book and study on your own. Lots of handouts were given and many errors on the answer keys.
I enjoyed the class and Professor Washington. I would take another math course with him.
Not a very good teacher. His explanations left me more confused than I had been before asking. He tests on material not covered in class, and actually got annoyed with some students in my class who asked a lot of questions. I would not recommend him to anyone.
Class was semi easy. Alot of the information covered in the class wasn't on the test. Don't bother buying the book, he gives you handouts which are great. Stay up to date and attend class adn you'll do fine. He's always available for help. He does have a problem with going on rampages about nothing, but funny when replying to students
By far the best professor I have had.
I transferred to his Algebra class a month late, because another CCC prof was worthless. He was welcoming & clear in his teaching but never had book homework til the last month of class. He is big on worksheets instead. I failed course due to my own lack of basic algebra fundamentals...not due to the Prof. I'll repeat class by my choice.
Amazing Professor! One of the smartest teachers I've ever had. Mr. Washington obviously knows what he's talking about. He often has very interesting things to say about subjects related to mathematics and science. If you want to LEARN and not just take a class, take this professor! *for a heads up: the class was based upon 4 tests and the final
If there are things that ufeel he could do to help the class learn easier, he will.. just tell him. Dont be afarid to ask him anything, as long as u have been paying attention and trying in his class he is more than willing to help. @ first i thoguht the class was hard until i asked him to write notes and explain more, then things were alot easier!
One of the best math teachers I've ever had. He gets straight to the point, and gives you no fluff that you won't need. You don't need your book at all by the way. :P He is also very intelligent and has great, relevant stories.
Very knowledgeable about subject. Is very clear of what is expected of students. Explains topics thoroughly so all students understand. Does have a tendency to let evening class out early. Personable and definitely likeable. You will not be bored with him, even if subject bores you. Tests are very straight forward. GREAT mathematics teacher!!
Pretty good teacher, really knows his math, gives worksheets can do without book but better to have it. Lets you retake tests but the retake is twice as hard so you better pratice. Also gives sample tests but the real tests are 10 times harder! Pratice Pratice Pratice and go to class.
Great Teacher, highly recommend
He's very intelligent, funny, helpful, kind, and handsome... a total package! I'm not going to lie, I have a crush on him... Best math teacher ever.
AWESOME professor. By far the best teacher I've ever had, math or otherwise. After a 6 year break from High School, I jumped back in, and his was my first class. I actually looked forward to Monday and Wednesday nights. The worksheets he gives out are great, he keeps you interested, and is hilarious. Awesome teacher all the way around.
Best math teacher ever. I've never had math made so easy for me before. I went out of my way to be in his math class. He made me understand things in math that I never did before. My favorite math teacher ever.
i took an 980 in an accelerated summer course...bar far mr. washington was the BEST math teacher i have ever had! i can honestly tell you he goes beyond what is expected in making sure you get the material. i am in 1200 now and attribute my success in the class to his thorough teachings of the previous class. he is smart, funny, and patient!!!
Prof. Washington is an incredible math teacher. I had a few teachers in this department throughout Tri-C and can honestly say this is the best choice in a math professor. He knows his stuff, makes it up-to-date and easy to grasp, does not waste your time, and is very fair. Best prof!!
Awesome teacher, Calculus is hard so be warned, but he explains things in a way that is very understandable. If you ever get confused just ask him in class, he will help you! Grading based on 4 tests + Final, you can drop your lowest, + extra credit quizzes based off of problems many people got wrong on the test. Study your notes for the tests.. :)
If you are religious, you should know that he said in his class that what most people believe is fiction. He also claims that Darwin theory is fact. I have no idea why he said this in a Math class. I am religious and wish someone would have warned me about this. However, he is an okay and fair Math teacher.
I see why others like this guy, he does have good stories related to the work in class, and you can understand him. As for learning anything from him, I beg to differ. It's one thing to challenge students and another to play I gotcha, which this class and 1610 felt like with him. It should be of your concern when test problems stump tutors too.
At first, I thought he was an idiot. Instead I found out he's a genius. The problem is, I'm not. He covered material SO FAST. I spent a lot of time in the tutoring lab and was spinning my wheels. I didn't like his teaching method. If you need to be walked through step by step, pick another teacher. He doesn't have the patience.
Prof. Washington is an incredible math teacher.
Prof. Washington is a very good math teacher.
Prof. Washington is a very good teacher.
Professor Washington is a straight forward teacher that tells you what you need to know and leaves it up to you to practice the material on your own. If you use what he teaches, its an easy "A". If you don't, you will struggle.
Prof. Washington is amazing and was extremely helpful. If you like a prof with a sense of humor he's your guy.
does anyone know f his math homework is through math xl or through the book? does he give partial credit on tests?
Not Clear, very difficult tests, even more difficult grader', usually late to class, unresponsive, and has no regard for the people who are paying him to teach. He doesnt hand anything back either. I tried to call/email him for several weeks before I was able to contact him. Did not hand back last test (not the final). DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR
Very helpful teacher, He's a little confusing when he's demonstrating a problem, but he makes you do the problem after him then comes around and helps everyone. He tells you what is going to be on tests so you know what to study, he drops a test score. Overall, very good teacher
Very knowledgable, but difficult to follow. Assumes all students know all the shortcuts. Test problems may not necessarly reflet what was covered in class.
Great teacher. Very helpful and easy to follow. Shows you how to do the problem, then sets one up for you and lets you do it on your own while walking around to see if anyone needs help. Wish I took him again for current math course.
Very Helpful. I have a math learning disability and he was great. Very concise, tests are straight from his class work. Nice guy, too.
He is very smart, it can be hard to follow him at first. He is very helpful if you need it, and he walks around the class to see how people are coming along with the problems. My favorite math teacher I've had in college.
I took this class as someone who hated Math and came out with a greater Appreciation. Will explain examples on the board then give other similar problems for the class to work on as he walks around to help difficulties. He is also very funny, great sense of deadpan(think Seinfeld) humor. Had me cracking up all the time.
Hands down the best math teacher I've ever taken. I'm not one to be a genius when it comes to math, but I felt like one after this guy was my professor. If I ever have the chance to take him again I will over anyone else. Though, he does get a little ridiculous with a quiz everyday in class. But other than that, I rate this professor 11/10
Took Calculus III with this professor, and my overall rating for him is awesome. He is funny, repeats topics he thought were challenging to the students and constantly quizzes on those topics. I can proudly recite 85% of what i learned in his class. My case might be different because i love math with passion. Overall, AWESOME :-)
Greatest professor i have ever had. I am usually horrible in math, but with him I understood everything and got a B. I am going to take him again for sure. He repeats material every day so it stays fresh and it helped tons.
Best math teacher at Tri-C! I never got good grades in high school math and I'm currently getting a solid B. There are 4 exams, your lowest grade is dropped. 12 quizzes, 3 lowest are dropped. A lot of repeat questions on quizzes. If he gives HW, it is not for a grade, just your own benefit. He answers all and any questions. Super nice!
I took both calc 3 2310 and linear algebra 2410 with him because he is a great professor and will answer questions thoroughly. He is knowledgeable on the subjects covered. You will do well on the quizzes and tests as long as you do the hw but he does not collect it. Overall one of the best professors I've had!
I took his class a few semesters ago knowing i struggle in math I went to the math lab the first day after class and the first weeks. He jumped around all over the book and showed complicated ways to solve the problem. He did try to help me but his teaching style just wasn't for me. I failed the class however I didn't even attempt the final.
Quiz given almost every class, no homework was ever given so grade is based off quizzes and tests
Best math professor I ever had. Doesn't make you feel stupid for not understanding something. Extremely helpful and the fact that he drops the lowest grade on both quiz and exam makes him even more awesome. Seriously-best ever!
Washington is a great professor, who knows his stuff. There is no homework, so grades are based entirely on tests and quizzes, of which he drops your lowest test grade. That being said, he likes to teach by example, so there are a lot of example problems and he walks around and checks your work. Overall, I really like him, and would recommend him
Professor Washington was the best Math teacher I've ever had. AS a matter of fact, the best teacher ive ever had period. I'm terrible at Math and the techniques he used helped immensely. He broke everything down into ways that would stick in my mind. He wasn't monotonous by any means and always had jokes to say. I would recommend him over ANYONE!
Prof Washington knew how to break things down in order for us to understand the complexity of problems. His overall teaching methods were some that I've never witnessed with any other teacher. He is hands down the best teacher I've ever had and I would highly recommend him to anyone. I actually looked forward to going to class, and I dread Math.
Absolutely love him! Homework is not mandatory but he does offer some for practice. Gives a quiz every class that is to help review. Drops the lowest quiz and exam scores. Gives TONS of practice in class. I am currently taking him over a shortened semester so it is fast paced. He is very knowledgeable and very humorous! A must take for math!
Very good and funny professor, one of my favorites. Gave a quiz every class but they were worth very little points. gave study guides before tests that covered exactly what was going to be on it. Made a 2 and a half hour class bearable. Wish i could have him teach every math class!
He is a very good teacher, but you have to show up in order to do well. You cannot pass without being in class. As long as you understand what was taught by the end of class you should be fine. He loves when you ask for help and he will help you. Mr. Washington was a fun math teacher, would take again.
By far best Math teacher I've ever had. You must go to class to be able to understand the concepts but it seemed his teaching style worked for me. HW is optional but I did do the work. He gives short quizzes every class where he brings back old material and adds the new to keep everything in the front of your head.
Taking his class its very robotic and clean cut. Handout, notes, break notes, quiz. No calculators to be used during class only on test. His notes are great and give great study guides then when it comes to the exam its horrible! Throws in stuff he thinks you should be able to take to the next level. If you don't do well on exams and quizs drop it
Kind of goes by the curriculum. He teaches math in real life ways to apply what you've learned. He doesn't really use the textbook during class and dint believe in us using it to learn. He had a great sense of humor and really helped if a student needed it. Would recommend and would take his class again.
I took this class and had to drop it before the end. My grandma passed away and it was devastating and he didn't let me make up anything I missed. He gives quizzes every Wednesday. I he was nice but made me feel like I was too behind to catch up. He made sure to know others names but because I was quiet didn't know mine. Made me uncomfortable.
Professor Washington has a GREAT idea of teaching, but it doesn't come across that way. His tests are HARD because he throws in stuff that we never went over that in depth. My class had an average of 60% on a pre-test we took, so what does that tell you? Homework is optional. I didn't buy the book. His notes are helpful; teaching method not so much
A great teacher and a nice person. Really cares about his students and should teach classes on education as well as math so other teachers could learn from him. Friendly, helpful, and patient. Some prior knowledge of material would be helpful but if you run into a block a stop at the tutor would probably be all you need or asking for clarification.
Best math teacher I've ever had. He makes class really interesting and explains things in a way that are easy to understand. The time flies by in this class. I wish more math teachers were like him.
Takes points off for any little things. Test and quizzes are hard
He was a very helpful teacher. Class was easy. Show up, learn new topics, take quiz. Five exams, including the final, and he took the lowest test score off. Easy A. Just pay attention and show up!
Great Teacher! Not only does he teach the subject but also points out great study techniques. It is not an easy class but considering it's Calculus expect to put in the extra work. He does a lot of quizzes (very small % of your grade) which can be intimidating; but, you will learn they actually help you a lot.
Was a pretty good professor. Is good at math, and wants to see you succeed. Gives a few tests, not a lot, and didn't have to take the final because I received an A on the previous test. Lets class out early if nothing else to do. Tests not too bad, drops lowest one and gives extra credit, very little homework.
I can't really say anything bad about him per say, but I think he moves too fast! Sometimes it seems like he thinks Math should be easy for everyone because it is for him. He does try to work with me but I wish the quizzes were worth more than three points and there should be more opportunities for us to get extra credit!
He's a nice person in general but he moves too fast he doesn't use blackboard so you don't know what your grade is and there no extra credit and he's a tough grader
He really helped students remember the material.
He gives a quiz after going over new material almost every week, with the exception of big test days. Fairly straightforward, I did not touch my textbook this semester at all. Homework is optional. If you have a passing grade by finals, he told us we didn't have to take the final.
This guy is awesome. Most of the points were earned in class. No use of mymathlab. Has zest for math. Best teacher i've had yet.
Differential equations is no joke and I think professor Washington did a great job teaching it especially in a 10 week summer course. He doesn't assign mandatory homework, gives 4 tests and small point quizzes, his tests were pretty straightforward of what I expected, super nice guy and I would take him for a class again!
I cannot say enough good things about this professor. Linear algebra is not a walk in the park, especially for a summer course. He was always willing to reexplain concepts to make sure we understood. With that being said, you do have to study a lot to succeed in this class. Doing the optional homework he assigns really pays off on test day.
I absolutely loved him as my professor, as long as you show up to his lectures and be ready to learn you should be more than fine, I was lucky enough to get him in a smaller class where he didn't mind helping everyone out with any issues. I'm hoping to get him in another class in the near future if he teaches any of the classes I need to take.
Didn't respond to emails, forgot to give us a study guide for the final? Went through material way to quickly.
I can't say enough good things about Professor Washington. He has a passion not only for math but educating in general. He would offer to meet with you outside of class hours if you were really struggling with a concept. He listens to his students and he really cares about your success. Great person and a great professor!
If you are thinking to take class with this professor, and he is only option - NO! Tests are heavy, makes mistakes in his own tests and doesn't admit them. Doesn't communicate or reply to e-mails. Doesn't give partial points even if you did all the steps correct but somewhere made a mistake. If you do problem your way, you won't get points.
Do not bother if you have to take him with this class online. Never responded to e-mails, very unhelpful and unclear about what was expected. Took the class online and found out after the fact that tests had a very specific time frame. From 2-4 on Tuesdays, which conflicted with work scheduling. You do all of the work on my math lab.
Professor Washington was probably the best teacher I've ever had. In high school, I barely passed math, but in Prof Washington's class, I consistently made A's. He took the time and made the effort to make sure I understood the lessons. Of course, I had to make the effort too! I'm so thankful for his thoughtful, informative instruction.
Please do not take a class with this professor unless you wanna fail. I literally have never gotten lower than a B in a math class my entire life. This class was ridiculous. He is never clear with his instructions on the website and is petty in his emails. Many questions were marked wrong on tests from the picky website and he wouldn't fix it.
RUDE! Dont trust the good reviews. They have v similar writing styles & are probably written by him. he does no lectures, gives no study guides. Youll be teaching everything to yourself. Ask for help, & he TRIES to be unhelpful. Not only is he a bad teacher, hes a bad person because he intentionally tried to make things hard for me. dont take him.
Your grade is entirely based off of 5 exams that are taken on Pearson. If you do poorly on even just one or two tests, your whole grade declines quickly. I don't feel exam grades always justify the student's understanding of the material. I would not recommend this instructor to others based on the implemented grading system.
Self taught class. Something is wrong with the Professor. Good luck!
Professor does not teach. You get a mathlab code and teach yourself. Only points possible are 5 tests, no make ups, and despite being a "no set meeting time" class, he makes tests available only for a few hours on 1 day he chooses but gives less than 4 days warning for. Communication or response to emails is completely absent.
I do NOT recommend. The class is completely self taught through MyLab. there is homework assigned but it does NOT count towards your grade. There is 5 exams worth 100 points each& thats your total grade for the semester. He makes the exams available only on a certain day &time. (Like a Wednesday at 2-3:30 or 7-8:30. Bad at emails, unclear syllabus
