STAY AWAY!! He is never and I repeat NEVER clear on what he wants! He answers all questions with questions. If you go to his office be sure that he will tell you that you are wasting his time.Grading system makes no sense at all! Test consist of matching, T/F, short answer and narriative essay. STAY AWAY!!!!
Never have I had a professor so knowledgeable and in tune with his students. Tests were difficult but fair. Funny guy and easy to get along with. Learned a lot but had to work for my A. Would definitely recommend him. TWO THUMBS UP!! TAKE HIM!!
Although I got one of the lowest grades of my college career (a C!) i still REALLY liked this prof! I wouldn't recommend taking his class as an elective as I did if it's not your major, but he's VERY straight forward about what he expects! Gotta respect that. After that, you're grown, it's up to you :) Nice, funny, soft spoken, I liked him!
Dr. White is a really great professor. His class is not easy, but it is a 4000 level class. He works hard to stress the importance of taking responsibility. He is very clear about his expectations, and does not waiver from them. If you want a true learning experience, take this class from him. If you want an easy A, don't.
Weird grading scale (100, 80, or 60) no in between... any questions you have he answers with a question. Class was interesting at times but he wasn't helpful in clarifying issues
Weird grading scale (100, 80, or 60) no in between... any questions you have he answers with a question. Class was interesting at times but he wasn't helpful in clarifying issues. Would NEVER take again
If you want to learn political philosophy, take Kremer! I really regret taking this class as did most everyone else I knew that took it. He's a nice guy, but that only gets someone so far. DO NOT TAKE!
Very nice teacher but doesn't really help with any questions or anything. He answers all questions with questions and has a really weird grading scale. I would never take him again. I would stay away if you are looking to keep your GPA up.
TERRIBLE grading system. Asks for "narrative essays" and grades them like its a dissertation -- extra info gets you points lost. I got an A in anatomy/phys comparatively. DO NOT TAKE IF YOU WANT TO GET A GOOD GRADE JUST FOR THE GEN REQ. This guy is the worst professor I have had at KSU in 4 years bar none.
Classes are almost never on topic and the PowerPoints are irrelevant to the material assigned for reading. His "Writing Rules" are ridiculous and will make you lose letter grades for simple comma errors (that are debatable). Tests are too short and graded way too harshly. T/F is designed to trick you. DO NOT take unless you can't avoid it.
Dr. White's catchphrase is "The only way to fail is not to try," and he means it. If you put even a minimal amount of effort into this class, you will pass, and if you try harder, you just might learn something.
I feel that Dr. White thinks he is helping people learn. His writing rules are ridiculous and unneeded for the subject matter. I had a 4.0 before this semester because I work hard. It is not possible to learn his writing rules in the time allotted. I would NEVER take him again. His book Buck is the worst book I've ever read and I read Twilight.
Nice guy, horrible teacher. He is passionate about the topic, but his grading is rough. You will never get full credit on anything you write, no matter the effort. He requires intense detail, but will count off if you go over 3 pages (which is very easy to do if you put as much content as he wants in it.) Overall avoid if you like your GPA.
Ridiculous writing rules! He makes you write a paper about his own stupid book! His grading system is awful! Quiz's only 5 questions. Each question missed is a letter grade. Impossible extra credit! The only way to make a decent grade in his class is if your not taking any other classes!
Dr. White is a great professor. DO not listen to negative comments from other people, chances are they just wanted an easy A. Dr. White is extremely intelligent and make learning fun. He's brilliant and I enjoyed his teaching. Again do not listen to all the negative people.
terrible grading system and terrible writing rules. the guy thinks he's a master of the english language just because we has a book published. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASSES IF YOU CARE FOR YOUR GPA!!!
This is the second class that I have taken with Dr. White and I am at a complete loss as to all of these negative reviews. The man grades your work like it is at a college level. He genuinely cares about the subject and gives you plenty of opportunity to do well. Seriously people! Study your work and proof read your work and you will do well!
I took an online class and enjoyed it. Work is commiserate with a 3000 level class and so are the expectations. Insightful, knowledgeable and fair. All you can ask for, really.
Little unsure at first, but in the end, couldn't have been more impressed. Dr. White is extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. He genuinely wants students to succeed. If you are looking for an easy A, AVOID. If you are looking to learn a lot and are interesetd in the legal system, do not hesitate to take him.
If you're interested in black and white thinking and more concerned with form rather than content, then White is for you. He's helpful in that he'll review work prior to due date and his lectures are entertaining, but he caricatures (if not outright misunderstands) opposing theorists and ideas. Intellectual lightweight, imo. Would not take again.
If you want an easy A then avoid Dr. White's classes. The man loves what he does and it shows. He is extremely engaging and really wants his students to succeed. Be on your A game, know the readings, proof read your work and learn from your mistakes. He is a great professor.
Dr. White is an incredible professor with so much insight into the constitution. He fills the class with interesting examples and is concerned for his students. Work hard, as you should in a college course and you'll dowell and learn lots!
I had Dr. White on Fridays in a Hybrid class and I cannot say enough nice things about him. He is passionate and explains things so clearly. His grading is straight forward he tells you what he wants, Explain(more detail) Identify(one sentence or two) This man is a genius, I cannot wait to take him again. Every Friday morning was FUN
Took as a Maymester class. Was highly entertained most of the time. Clear and easy to understand. He is prompt in communication and will help you above and beyond. It's hard work, Do the reading! Don't procrastinate on assignments. He is stickler for APA/MLA formatting but it's enlightening as most profs don't care. Great prof!
Almost a senior with a 4.0 GPA. I work very hard at my studies. This man is IMPOSSIBLE! Ten pages plus per week. Every sentence must have a citation. I'm sure I'll end up disputing my grade after this semester. DO NOT, DO NOT,take this professor under any circumstances!Far too demanding and arrogant! I wish I'd listened to others on here about him.
Professor was very unclear and wanted specific information on tests. Fill in the blank and short answer tests. Mid term was four questions and you had to be very descriptive. YOU MUST BE IN CLASS AT ALL TIMES. Almost failed because I was absent. His attendance policy is RIDICULOUS. Entertaining but rambles.
Mandatory attendance,5 quizzes, midterm and final. Gives extra credit based on participation. Very nice and funny but quizzes/ tests are only 5 questions long and extremely specific. I have a 3.9, study daily, and found it hard to meet his expectations. Takes off points for everything, and answers must be exact. I wont take him again.
After taking other teachers, I would give anything to take his class again! He is so knowledgeable, and you really learn something. He pushes u to think but is really helpful, straightforward, and clear. He gives out points for participating and lectures conversation style and engages the class. Hes awesome compared to the other Crju teachers
This professor is amazing. He is not easy but he lets you know everything you need to know. You will actually learn the material and know how to apply it in situations. You will learn how to think critically. You don't necessarily need the book but he does use it. =]
He seems like a super intelligent guy because he is. With that said, I think he likes making other people feel as stupid as he possibly can, but in a way that makes you think he could be pushing you to not be so stupid.
Warning... Warning... Do not take this professor. He is a very intelligent professor, that refuse to help.He demands that you read 100+ pages a week during the summer semester. He refuse to elaborate on anything. He acts as if you are suppose to walk in knowing everything b4 taking his class. He is horrible, the worst professor I've ever had in life.
HARD!! He is knowledgeable but arrogant. You are wrong he is right- nothing you can do about it. Quizzes and Final are True/False trick questions.1 wrong = B, 2 = F,Your essays are never good enough. 3 books that you HAD to read/memorize. Impossible to make an A in his class.
This professor is so by the books no room for error or unforseen circumstances. He never helps you and takes forever to respond to emails and then when he does respond he'll ask did you get with your friends in the class. Absolutely the worst and most unhelpful professor I've taken in my college career and I'm a senior so that says a lot!
He is a JERK. He openly insults you to your face, never teaches anything relevant, and he purposefully tricks you on quizzes. He teaches from his perspective and only his perspective. He is the worst teacher I've ever had. Ive always made great grades and I'm barely going to pass this semester. Do not take him... ever.
he's really hard and really smart. you cannot argue withoutwitconvincefinesse this professor. it is hard to make him even seriously consider your point seemingly well thought out point. i never mad an A on any assignment no matter how much i studied.
One of the hardest and worst classes I have ever taken. Openly insults students to their face and often refers to himself as a tool. Quizzes are T or F but ridiculous, an example question on the first one was Do you have to come to class prepared everyday? Answer: F, you're in college and you have free will you can do whatever you like.
Dr. White is intellectual heavy-weight & one of the best professors I've ever had. I feel like I grew exponentially in his class. Effort will get you far, but it's more about the objective product of your work. The class is challenging, but that's the purpose of college. Overcoming challenges produces a betterstronger product. Highly recommend him
Don't do it to yourself. There's no clear way to study for the quizzesexams. They are true or false questions that are formatted to trick you with one word. I studied for every quiz and ended up guessing my answer majority of the time. Every assignment lacks clarityguidance. Good luck on grading errors, Dr. White will admit to being wrong.
This is the greatest professor I have ever taken. I learned so much in his classes, rather then memorize and dump. He is very intelligent and kind of a goof. It's a great mix. If you have a hard time, just meet with him. You will learn he is quite reasonable and does everything for a reason. I am sad I couldn't have more profs like him.
He is a really hard teacher. The hardest I have ever taken. He does not give feedback at all. And his test are so hard that the average on his test are a C average, and highest grade is high C. HIs lectures don't even go along with what we go over in the text. His tests questions are so nit picky that it doesn't cover any of the theory you go over
Lectures are completely off topic, tests come from the book. Tests are written to trick you - multiple choice but answers that are misspelled are counted as incorrect; answer choices intertwine with each other and are worded atrociously. Mandatory attendance & knows he is smarter than the entire class. 90% of the class failed midterm. DO NOT TAKE.
Do not take this professor! I am a junior and I've neverrrrr met a professor that was so against their students. The test are a joke, he will misspell words purposely to try to trick you to answer the question incorrectly. If you asks questions before the test he says he cannot answer them. He makes you feel low and dumb. DO NOT TAKE U WILL REGRET!
Worst professor I have ever taken and I am being serious. Hard grader. Grading scale is Check, Check-, and Check+. Tests are super hard due to half the answers answer the actual question, you just have to find the "best"answer. Hardest class I have ever taken. Class average was a C. Good luck if you are taking him. Survey project is really brutal.
2 MASSIVE semester long projects; course outline using the textbook and a book report. DO NOT TAKE UNLESS YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT. The most ridiculous, over-the-top class I've ever taken. Dr. White is vague and gives no direction on assignments even when asked. HARSH GRADER. Do yourself a favor and don't take this class with Dr. White.
Great teacher! It is not going to be a walk in the park, but you will actually learn something from his class. He doesn't just give you the answer because he wants you to figure it out yourself, because through research one will truly never forget what they learned. Also, go to class! It's not bad and its a discourse style! Legal Theory and Phil.
This class was tough, but I learned a lot. Come to class and participate in class discussions. Everything that will be on you final is discussed during class. You have to really earn your grade and it's not easy. He's a very knowledgeable guy and has a lot to teach. I would definitely take him again.
3 books are required & his written tests are a mix between in-class discussion and the books. Lowest test grade can be dropped (35% per test so study). Theres discussion posts and 10/15 are required for participation. Hes fairly funny too in a cool 90s dad way. Make sure your class picks or asks for tests over book reports though.
This class will require you to read three full-length books, each one expressing a different vision of the American Presidency. You will also be required to study outside texts. Professor White is very detail oriented in his arguments and definitions, so if you plan on sharing an opinion, make sure that you have evidence to support your claim.
I took Professor White for summer semester and it is going really easy. Be prepared to read and participate in discussions. Two book reports due by the last day of class. His instructions are clear in the syllabus and rubric. It tells you his expectations of what you should be doing for each assignment.
Absolutely love professor White. With the pandemic happening, he made everything flexible. Changed the modules to be bi weekly, so I had a lot of time to do the assignment. Not really a lot of work as long as you pace it out. Super nice too
At first it was tough, but easing into the semester more and more, more things became clear. Was a fine teacher and I enjoyed the way he taught the class and of course what we learned. It was all very interesting as well. Can be confusing sometimes but if you email asking for clarification, it will be cleared right up.
One of the best professors he takes extreme care of students and helps out with law school stuff. The class has 3 main grades all papers. There are bonus papers also. 2 papers have the same prompt, the other is a book report. Participation is graded he goes down the roster to ask questions for participation. Super funny and caring professor.
Lectures are boring/not super informative if you've taken other legal classes. Grades "holistically" and uses a writing style he made up. You'll prob get a bad grade on midterm trying to figure out what he wants. Do the extra credit. You'll be okay but he has no sympathy and is mean to most people if you're smart enough to realize what he is saying
The class has three main assignments, all papers. The papers are easy and as long as you following the writing format you will pass. He is also kind and will give help if you reach out. There is book report which can be pretty long. He also gives bonus papers for more points in the class, where he will give valuable feed back to help.
I absolutely loved Dr. White's class. I'm not a POLS major so I was a little nervous about this class but as long as you show up & take notes you should be good. Your grade is made up of 3 papers, enrollment and participation. As long as you follow his writing style and can write a complete thought you'll get a B. Learned a lot from this professor.
I enjoyed taking his class. There's only 4 things you get graded on but he isn't a very tough grader and he gives you lots of time to do it. You had to partake in at least 5 discussions, you had to write two letters to representatives and you had to write a book reflection. I enjoyed his class and would be happy to have him as my professor again.
professor whites class was pretty okay, super boring and he didn't talk about criminal justice till like the third week of school. also he has no remorse for any reason you didn't turn your assignment in on time and I mean like ANY reason. also make sure the stuff you do turn in is good because there's only like 4 total grades lol
He is now my FAVORITE professor! Yes, his criteria is tough and it is READ HEAVY and Writing heavy (approx 2 papers a week for summer 4 week course), but he provides insightful, respectful feedback that no other professor at KSU has ever done for me. Excellent professor! Just don't be lazy and you'll do great! :)
This was a summer online course so may be different to regular semesters but this class was literally only discussion posts replys and a paper for both the midterm and final. Posted weekly lectures. The discussion posts were technically due a day before the due date and the reply was due on the due date and the essays were submitted via D2L email.
Professor Kenneth White's criminal justice course was disappointing. The absence of feedback on assignments, heavy reliance on the syllabus, and tendency to go off-topic during lectures made learning a frustrating experience. The writing format that he made up is atrocious. He fell short of the expectations for an engaging and informative course.
Stay clear of this professor at all cost. This professor is not at all understanding of simple technical errors. This class is lecture-heavy, but his lectures are very hard to understand because of his inability to stay on one topic throughout class. He does not give proper instruction for assignments, refers to the syllabus for simple questions.
should be banned from all online classes. I have never been so confused by a teacher. When asked, he says "Refer to the syllabus" and will repeat this many times throughout the semester. Doesnt seem to care very much and makes life hell.
his class was easy as long as you keep up with deadlines and put effort into understanding the class. writing the midterm/final papers were difficult because lectures felt all over the place but it was still an easy class. just take good notes and read the syllabus if you feel confused
Insanely liberal, opinionated and left winged guy. Not a fan.
There are only 11 things graded throughout the entire semester (8 discussions, midterm, book report, and final). This class is very lecture heavy, if you do not attend the classes, you will not pass. He is very lenient and flexible in his grading and willing to help students improve where they need it. Midterm and final are essays.
I do not recommend taking his class, he is not very understanding and grades extremely hard for no reason. Very opinionated, likes to argue with students, and will find any reason to take points off an assignment.
Demonstrates a lack of concern for his students and receives pleasure from assigning poor grades, deducting points, and arguing with us. Many instances where students expressed their opinions in class, only to be met with attempts by the teacher to embarrass them. Please save yourself from unnecessary stress and take any other teacher possible.
Pay attention to reviews before signing up.
He just whines about how much he hates trump and republicans the whole class and attendance is mandatory, so you have to sit there and listen to his incoherent ramblings. Incredibly tough grader, barely teaches, and treats the students like babies. the worst part is he makes everything as vague as possible in class. DO NOT LISTEN TO GOOD REVIEWS
This was a class that I got put into during drop/add and I regret it. His lectures are worded in a way that is very hard to understand and they are typed. You have a discussion prompt due every two weeks that if you follow the formatting he grades you poorly but if you don't follow formatting then you do okay. Advising says to just make a D.
i took the AP version of this class in senior year (ap gov) and it was significantly easier than taking this class. the only good thing is that he offers up to 4 points of extra credit, but otherwise you are stuck reading the 24 page syllabus in order to do well. lots of discussion posts and papers, and his grading is extremely hard.
This professor made me want to change my major. When I tell you learned NOTHING in this class, it is NOT an exaggeration. He makes absolutely no sense in his lectures. We talk about the most random of stuff and nothing to do with the criteria. He would write one vocabulary word on the board and didn't explain it at all. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!
He doesn't teach, he always rambles on during lectures talking about nonsense (often about Trump or abortions). He randomly has attendance quizzes (that MUST be on 8.5x11 loose notebook paper) so you have to be there. He is SUPER strict on how you format assignments, so you're always looking at the syllabus. He also barely checks his email.
Awful professor, do not take him for an online class EVER. He is extremely strict on his format rules for discussion posts, so you will rarely ever receive higher than a B on any assignment. The lectures are also indigestible and do not relate to the course content/discussion at all. His formatting rules are designed for you to have a bad grade.
Professor absolutely does not care if students pass or fail. The grading system makes absolutely no sense, learned nothing throughout the class, made me almost consider changing my major, and incredibly focused on the syllabus and nothing else. He is actually one of the worst professors I have ever had.
There were multiple instances of essays due throughout the semester over topics that were seldom discussed during lectures. He focused way too heavily on specific details he mentioned in the syllabus and formatting rules when grading papers which made it feel like I was in an advanced writing class more than criminal justice.
Really harsh grader, a lot of rules just for him to be grading out of 5 points. You can lose more points than you can gain. 16-page syllabus that he expects you to memorize. Would not take this class if you're just trying to get ur gen ed out the way, def not beginner friendly course.
RUN AND DON'T LOOK BACK. Taking this class was the academic equivalent of stepping into a burning building and being handed a gasoline can. This professor has mastered the art of making everything ten times harder than it needs to be. The lectures are useless, Grading? A complete mystery. If you value your sanity, or will to live, flee this course
Dr. White is a good, nice, laidback professor but bases the grade of all assignments off of the syllabus. 9x out of 10 he will just refer you back to the syllabus when asking for specific feedback, but does supply questions with a bland answer, then refers to the syllabus. No tests; midterm + final paper,+ book report (major assign.) +in person EC.
If you like to read the syllabus a bunch of times and go back and fourth for the whole semester making sure your following his made up rules perfectly then revive a bad grade and the only feedback being “look at the syllabus and self grade” take this class. the typed up lectures where hard to follow as well.not a good professor.
I do not recommend taking his online class. It was horrible, no recorded lectures, lots of reading and no meaningful feedback. The assignments are also frustrating as you basically work a lot for a paper that is only worth 5 points.
The big thing for this class is just follow the syllabus. If you explicitly read and abide by the syllabus, you will get an A. Anyone who has any issues with Prof. White is because they didn't read the syllabus thus didn't get the grades they wanted. Class is very achievable just be very deliberate with explicitly following the syllabus.
Overall Professor White was great! He is a tough grader but if you take time to actually look over the syllabus you should be fine! Each week you will have a topic paper and a discussion due. No quizzes or midterm!
