Great Teacher not too ez or too hard. Do the homeworks well they are an easy A for 30% of the grade. he quotes his text book verbatim but you should still go to Class anyway. Do the practice tests and know them cold and youll do well on the test. Great class
Not too bad. He's humorous the first couple of weeks, but then his act just gets stale. Concerning his level to teach, it's par at best. You could just read his textbook religiously and never attend classes and do quite well, if that's your style. Average in the end, at least for me.
easy but boring
Very approachable and have a sense of humor. You can tell he loves teaching and his students. Though sometimes he speaks really fast and unclear, his personality is really important for a freshmen class. Freshmen need an approachable and smart professor and he definitely is. Take him, highly recommended.
Good Professor, read the text book do the homework and sample test you ll be fine. Go to office hour, he will hand out extra sample test.Attend the class, a few questions in exam will be related to the lecture.
Do your problem sets, attend lecture (or scrutinize the textbook), and do all of the practice tests you get your hands on and know them cold. Kenny is extremely approachable & don't be afraid to ask for help--lectures can get repetitive but bear with it. The final often catches people off guard..so beware
This class is an easy A or A- if you do the problem sets correctly, and read the textbook. This is the best way to learn the material and also get as many old tests as possible to study for the Midterms and Finals. Go to lectures and discussions for answers to problem sets.
I had a hard time in this class because it was so BORING! Kenny is a really nice teacher but I could not stand his monotone lectures. He reads off the book so there's no need to go to his class. Just read the book and do your work, then it should be an okay class. But I hated this class with my life...
Great guy and good teacher. He knows his stuff and has a good heart.
You do not have to go to Kenny's class, but you MUST keep up with the readings. The mid-terms are fair but the final exam is pretty tough. Forget about cramming, its just too much stuff to learn last minute. He is friendly but rather boring in class as his act wears out on you after a while. Make sure to have a competent TA!
He's a very fast talker. But he knows what he's saying. Pretty easy class. Just gotta keep up on the readings and do well on problem sets. He makes the class interesting and put economics in a way thats easy to understand with real world examples.
He's just straight up a great professor. Very engaging in class and generous with his grading. Relatively easy class. Either go to class or solely read the textbook; his lectures are entirely based on the textbook material.
nice professor, but talks real fast. so if u cant catch up with the teachings in class, U SHOULD READ THE TEXTBOOK! exams are easy if u do the practice exams
he is one of my best professors and actually cares if you understand the class. in his class no question is a dumb question. The homework's take a lot of time but are easy if you understand the material. lectures are always interesting and this is definitely a class worth taking
Kenny is genuinely a great guy. Great teacher and learned a ton in this class. If you go to class, do the problem sets and read the textbook before exams, no reason why you shouldn't get lower than an A.
Kenny is great. Wrote his own textbook and teaches straight from it is possible to skip all classes and just read the book. Gives you everything you need to get an A.
Kenny is great, he talks quickly, but you get used to it. He wrote his own textbook and it is great, examples are easy to understand. He explains everything clearly during lecture. Tests really test your knowledge and problem sets (due every Friday) are reasonable and really help when studying for exams. Not an easy A, but I highly recommend him.
Very easy class but the lectures are mind numbingly dull. The class is poorly planned and we had to cram 3 lectures into the last class. He teaches his opinions like they are facts. He is liberal to a fault! This class does little to teach you anything (we didn?t even get to the IS/LM model) and is best taken online.
I just thought this class wasn't as easy as everyone claimed it was. You can't understand a word he says and I just couldn't get the graphs. I also am not interested in the economy at all.
This is not an easy A class you have to really work for it. I went in with the impression it would be simple I walked out with a B. Anyways Kenny is a great guy willing to help anytime. He talks very fast it's almost like he's rapping. You have to read the textbook and do the HW problem set the exams rely heavily on them.
I barely understood his lecture last semester:(,yet I still keep going to his class, for he might put questions on the test that were related to lectures. EX. The demonstration at the class for specific concept might be on the test. Go to office hour!! He's extremely helpful!Signup for a tutor in CIW!! She's really helpful too
He's really nice and pretty funny. He talks fast & eats his words - problem for non-english speaking students. Attendance to lecture is not mandatory, but is suggested, Tests are straight forward. Problem sets are easy. TA are mostly helpful, but some have no clue what they are doing. Final is decent, but included questions covered in lecture only
Kenny was by far my favorite Professor at Binghamton yet. He's got a knowledge like a encyclopedia, really clear notes, and a funny attitude to economics. BE WARNED. He's the kind of professor that you'll either love or hate, since he's got such a unique teaching style. Sit in one of his lectures and decide before you take one of his classes.
One of the best professors I've ever had. Talks fast, very energetic, but very helpful. I would recommend that anybody that has time to take the 350 course.
Kenny Makes Economics Fun. I loved the subject anyway, but his style is amazing and made me fall in love with it even more. His book is beautifully written with examples which you can relate to and laugh at, at the same time. He's entertaining and his style is unmatched. Also He makes my day with his 'fortune telling' that he starts his class with.
Kenny really does make economics interesting and fun. He wrote the textbook and it is very important. The problem sets aren't too hard, try to do them with a group of people. I got straight As in the class all semester but bombed the final, getting me a C+ in the class. The final is HARD! Sections tell you how to do the problem set.
Kenny talks faster than any human should be talking. He is an extremely nice guy but his lectures are nearly incomprehensible. Also... male ponytail
Speaks unbelievably fast. Lectures are boring and if you read the textbook are pointless. Tests are easy if you read the book. Problem sets are easy if you have a good TA
Great teacher, really helpful and makes the material easy to understand. I am not a math minded person but I found it easy enough to understand. Textbook is the same as lectures. Definitely take macro!
Pretty easy class. He talks extremely fast and is hard to understand at times, but he lectures straight from the text book.Very good class.
Good lecturer, knows his stuff. Talks very fast, so if English isn't your language, you might have a hard time. His lectures are exactly what's in the book, and the tests are exactly like the problem set. Very easy class.
He talks really fast and is sometimes hard to understand, but he's able to explain the material in a way that makes it as simple as it can possibly be. The tests are really fair and as long as you read the textbook and do the homework you should do fine.
He really annoys me. He wastes a lot of time in the beginning of class talking about current events everyday, but is not tested. And right before the final, he would cram like 4 chapters into 4 classes. Tests are extremely easy if you do all the practice tests on blackboard. Easy easy overall until the end when he crams in sooo much info.
I think Kenny is overrated. His lessons are straight from the text book, even his examples. I don't know why I showed up to class all semester, since reading the book would give me the same effect. His tests are ok, study the practice exams and you'll do well. He covers like 5 chapters in a few weeks before the final so STUDY.
Class is pretty easy. He gets angry when students assign their homework in the middle of class (and reasonably so) Teaches at a very fast pace. If you plan on taking 160, I suggest taking it before this course. To sum it all up, his class is relatively easy compared to upper level economics classes.
Rambles and babbles; his idea of further explaining a topic is repeating himself. Can rarely understand a word he's saying. English is my first language; I can only imagine how the foreign kids feel. Non-econ majors stay away. Made me HATE the subject of economics.
Kenny is a nice guy but its true that much of what he teaches in class comes straight from the textbook. You probably don't need to go to class but it helps clarify some things for you. Make sure you do the problem sets and read the book.
Nice guy. most of what he teaches comes right from the textbook. speaks fast. As long as you read the textbook and do the homework you should be good.
Kenny is the man! Class is basically optional. he wrote the textbook so just read that and you'll know all the material. You might want to find a study group. Problem sets might take a little bit of time but are easy grade-raisers. If you're taking Econ, take it with Kenny
As a professor Christianson makes econ as fun as you possibly can for the subject that it is. His grading criteria is very fair and the TA's are great help. He talks really fast but you get used to it
Kenny is a great guy. He speaks really fast and he is hard to understand sometimes but overall if you put forth the effort you will get an A. I didn't go to class and still got an A-. Take ECON 162 with him.
Kenny is an extremely nice and helpful professor. He is always willing to give you extra help or talk to you about extra points on the test. There is no need to go to class, he teaches right from the textbook. I thought his class was a joke but my view is skewed since i am an econ major.
class and test is ok; he will give you the old test for the review
He talks way too fast and it makes it difficult to understand anything going on in lecture. His lectures are always boring and he is liberal to a fault. He is also very nit-picky about homework answers and takes off huge points for small mistakes. I don't think I would take another class with him.
Can't help but like him. Talks very fast but keeps you on your feet and paying attention. Willing to help in office hours. Try's to make economics less dry of a topic. Good guy.
you can understand at first but he's awesome. Definitely recommend that you take this class if you're a freshman.
This guy is a boss. You can either go to lecture, or just read the textbook. He even wrote the textbook for crying out loud. At first, it may seem funny to you the way he talks and he has his crazy mannerisms (always takes sips of OJ) but overall he's a good guy and a good teacher
Pretty nice guy. He is entertaining and passionate. Unfortunately he crammed the hardest chapters at the end of the semester which is what the final exam consists of. The music videos at the beginning of class are nice but probably should be avoided when we can barely finish the curriculum. Overall a pretty good class though.
Extremely vague instructions on his exams/homework. Will take off points for not giving 3 examples why a statement is false, but doesn't specify he wants 3 examples. Many people went to his office hours to address the issue, but he remains unapologetic and condescending. Read the book for a good grade, although the book uses a horrible font.
This guy's a legend
I like the class and I like him as a professor. However, what really matters is who is your TA. The variance in quality among TA's is huge and I was very fortunate to have one that spoke English, graded in an efficient manner, and knew the material. Had it not been for my TA, I would have struggled. I learned most of the graphs from discussion.
MA BOY KENNY. everyone knows you don't need to go to class but just go. Even sitting there might help you remember something off the top of your head for the exam which you would not have remembered otherwise. Generally easy class. He is extremely sweet and has random games in class where he gives out money. YES MONEY.
I swear i skipped a lot of classes and still got the A. The only thing that matter, wherever your studying capacity may lie, is your TA. I visited every discussion section, studied 6 hours (real study + procrastinate) before the each exam, and then took the test. Oh, those practice exams are essential; HW easily graded.
Get a good TA! I didn't go to any lectures, but I went to all my discussions. My TA spoke English and knew his stuff! For TA's the nerdier the better!
Very easy if you show up and study and just do you work, can definitely get an A. If you miss class don't worry, it comes straight from the textbook (which he wrote). Very nice guy if you go to his office for help, he'll spend time making sure you understand it. Kinda funny in class, a little hard to understand at times but overall great.
Kenny's awesome. He talks incredibly fast for a guy that smokes as much weed as he does. He wrote the textbook and practically lectures out of it word for word, so there's very little reason to attend lecture. There are 10 hw's, all graded by TA's, that all together count as much as the final. Tests are easy-fair, & the final's not cumulative.
Nice Guy but torture to listen to so I skipped class a lot and just read the textbook since he wrote it. The practice exams and study guide are pretty helpful. My only complaint is I had to spend time reformatting his study guide because the man doesn't know how to use columns in Word.
Kenny is a very knowledgeable, funny, and well-liked professor. His demonstrations in class are helpful and fun. He wrote the textbook that's used in class so it's very helpful and applies well to the class. His voice can be a bit difficult to understand but it shouldn't be too much of a problem because he writes everything important on the board
Lectures are just reciting his textbook. Read the book, undestand it, and you'll pass.
Good guy but a difficult class. If you don't understand something you can go to his office and he will be happy to help you. The important thing about this class getting a good TA. I worked a$$ off but had a bad TA and ended up with a B.
all of his examples are related to pot. Class was fun and not mandatory. the practice tests made the test easy. writes own textbook so the lectures and examples are directly from the textbook
Kenny is a great teacher. Lectures are same as the textbook but I would go to lecture if you aren't one of those kids who are naturally smart. I went to class and read the textbook and I got an A in the class.
GREAT PROFESSOR KNOWS HIS STUFF HE WROTE THE TEXTBOOK!!
I never went to lecture but got a B+. Not the best but good enough. He's hard to understand sometimes, the way he talks is really fast and he changes tones a lot. Always do the homework and try to get a good TA. Final exam isn't actually a final, it's just on the remaining chapters of the textbook.
kenny is a hippie, that's pretty much sums up all his views in class. anyways, his class is alright and not that great . you don't need to go to lectures as he wrote the book but his book repeats the same info over and over again and he talks really fast and has bad handwriting. take him anyway as he gives you all the materials necessary to pass.
I took 162 with Kenny, and this class is basically a smaller, more intimate and harder version of that. There are three group projects, four problem sets, and he gives great notes. He kind of rushed through the last few sections, but he tells you exactly what to expect on tests so it's fine. Super fun and interactive class!
If you want a good grade in this class all you need to do is write down everything he puts on the board and memorize all of it before the test. Also before a test do his practice tests that he posts up and redo all the homework's and you will be fine. I did all that and got an A. Not so difficult but requires effort.
Vague and literally unfair (lack of) instructions on exams. May seem nice and cool in class, but go to his office hours to discuss grades and he turns into the biggest a--hole of a professor you might have in all of Binghamton. Had to adjust on the next exam and infer the answers he actually wanted.
His voice gets irritating after a while but attending class isn't a bad idea, even though he recites the textbook because he wrote it. 1st half of the semester is easier than 2nd, don't slack off the second half. Having a good TA is very important, go to discussion for homework help
You don't have to go to lecture. IMPORTANT: DO NOT BE LATE ON DAYS WHEN PROBLEM SETS ARE DUE. IF YOU HAND IT IN AFTER HE STARTS THE LECTURE HE WILL GET MAD AND HE MAY THROW OUT YOUR PROBLEM SET. Other than that he is a good teacher. A little bit of a hippy. But he has an enjoyable lecture.
The textbook is your best friend you never need to go to class . Do the hw and read the textbook. Thats it. Going to class will not help you whatsoever.
This class is probably your best option for Macro in Binghamton. There are only three tests (including final) so doing well on those tests is crucial to getting a good grade. As are hard to come by, but Bs are easy if you just read the book. Class is literally just exactly what is in the textbook (he wrote it), so missing class isn't a big deal.
I loved him as a professor and he really helps to keep your interest in the class.
You know what happens when you pour water on a gremlin? The same happens to Kenny if you hand in a problem set AFTER class starts. However, he's an engaging professor and a consummate bongo player. I enjoyed the class.
Kenny is a good professor but he is sometimes hard to understand. He basically dictates the textbook, which he wrote. You don't have to attend lecture if you just read the textbook. His class isn't really hard, he gives weekly homework and his tests aren't too hard to prepare for.
Christianson's lectures are useful to help you learn the material like they should be but his voice is agonizingly annoying and he constantly goes off topic for minutes at a time. Personally, I couldn't handle the boring lectures but studying is enough to do well. His textbook is extremely repetitive and uniquely boring. Doing well is a chore
He assigns 10 problem sets (best 9 count) for the semester. These are essential to getting a good grade. He pretty much repeats the textbook during lecture, so if you can read and understand the material then you are set. Best advice is to do the practice tests! They are extremely helpful. Beware, tests get harder as the semester progresses.
This class was harder than I expected. I studied my ass off and still didn't get the results I wanted. Although there may often be a line, he's always available during office hours and will stay to help you out. Not to mention, some of his TAs are awesome. Don't be afraid to ask him to repeat himself because he talks super fast.
Instantly puts you to sleep. Jumps straight into theoreticals without ever explaining practical applications of the knowledge learned. Lots of mindless abstract math and graphing. Math is easy, though. Go to TA review sessions before tests and get a second alternative textbook (Mankiw is great) to help study. Don't take unless you know you need it.
His lectures are identical to his textbooks that he wrote. If you're not going to attend lectures, read his textbook and you'll be fine. Make sure you do well on every hw assignment bc it plays a part with your grade. You must do at least above a 70 on every test to get in the 80 range. His voice can get annoying, but otherwise its bearable.
He's so hyper, and sometimes I wonder if he's on something... His voice is irritating and he's barely helpful. Go to his office hours? He'll talk in a rude tone and never really give you the answers you want to hear. Class itself is fairly easy as long as you read the textbook. Lectures are purely textbook-based.
As an international student, it was really hard to understand him. He speaks very fast. However, he writes every important thing to the board.
I wish I could give Kenny a higher score based on this rubric. Sometime's he's unclear because he speaks very quickly, but he writes everything you need on the board and his lectures are long and cover lots of material. But, he's very respected, very engaged with his subject, and clearly knows his stuff. I'm glad I had him for this class!
You can barely understand what he is saying. All he does is repeat the textbook he wrote and talk in circles.
Good macro class. Study hard for tests and you will succeed. If you do not, you will struggle. An A is obtainable.
He uptalks every sentence which was painful. Writes everything on the board, tho. HWs are unnecessarily long if you ask me. TA will go over similar questions tho. Tests are not too easy but if you read the book you'll be fine
Good professor! People already mentioned his odd way of speaking, but I honestly got used to it pretty quickly. He'll write all you need to know, and the textbook was really, really helpful -- probably don't even need to go to class if you study the textbook. Homework a little hard sometimes , but the TA sections are very helpful for it. Good class
By far the best professor I've ever had. Kenny is hilarious I love him
Kenny is an amazing professor, he genuinely cares about each and every one of his students, his lectures are interesting and useful, is very knowledgable about economics, and absolutely loves his job. If you take macro at Binghamton. Take it with Kenny. If he writes it on the board, it is important. Amazing professor. I would definitely take again.
I attended most of his lectures and never understood what he was saying, not because the material was hard but because of how he speaks. However, I recommend you to read the textbook, work on the hws, and ask questions during discussions, bc all that will be helpful for the test. The exams are not hard if you do all the things I have just listed.
He's an interesting guy. Doesn't have an accent but talks weird and it's hard to understand his lectures. Just write down everything he writes on the board, or skip class and read the textbook (he wrote it, it's exactly the same as his notes). Weekly hw can get tricky but he drops your lowest one. Exams are easy
Kenny is a great professor. His lectures are engaging and fun. There is a weekly homework assignment, but it doesn't prove much trouble if you attend the lectures and discussions. His tests are fair, and he posts multiple samples for you to practice with. I'd highly recommend Kenny for a macro professor.
Kenny is a very nice guy, but I find him hard to learn from and hard to understand. You really don't need to go to class or discussion if you have someone send you the notes. Class isn't hard, you just need to put in work because he doesn't really go into depth on topics in class
He is not a nice guy. I used to send e-mail him about some homework questions, but his reply was very impatient and rude. I mean there is no need to be mean if your student ask you some questions. Also, his lecture is not very helpful, since he only read the book.
Kenny is amazing! I loved his class. He was very approachable and was great at teaching. Lectures follow strictly from the book. If you attend all the lectures and discussions and read the book, you will do great. Tests are basically the same as what was on the HW and in the text. TAs go over similar HW problems at discussion. Take econ with him!
I took Kenny for Econ 162 and when I saw he was teaching 350 I was thrilled. He is an excellent professor and really cares about his students. Exams aren't too hard as long as you keep up with readings. Assigns homework assignments but its easy to do well if you put in the effort. Overall amazing professor and would definitely take again if I could
For ECON 162, do well on all the homework problem (he drops the one of the homework problem of the 10). Be aware that sometimes his homework are tricky and can get points off. Also, your TA grades the homework, so utilize them. For exams, do well because they count heavily especially the final. Overall, MEMORIZE textbook and review practice tests.
Nice guy bad teacher. His teaching assisnats are the worse
Kenny is the man. He is so chill, but lectures tend to be a little boring. If you can tolerate reading the repetitive textbook then definitely do it because everything in lecture is exactly from the book. Pay attention to due dates and make sure you know how to do the problem sets because the questions will likely be on the exam. Good luck !
Kenny was really behind and just didnt explain A lot of necessary concepts , I felt He just read from the textbook that he wrote
Lectures are a repeat of the textbook, which he wrote. TA's do the actual teaching of how to do problems that are on your HW and tests, he just teaches concepts. Clear grading criteria, but class averages on his tests are never great. Kind of rude and impatient, but also nice. Also really hard to read the board/his handwriting, and he talks fast
Kenny is a real gem; it's a simple as that. Most people in this course don't go to lecture, and that's totally okay since Kenny literally WROTE THE BOOK for this course. As a result, lecture is ba
You can still do very well if you don't go to class as long as you do the problem sets and the readings. However, he does sometimes ask specific questions about class on the final, and each question is worth a lot! All in all, I wish I hadn't skipped so often... even though lecture can be extremely boring.
The man's passionate, so he definitely earns my respect there. He's very casual in his lectures, which works for a lot of students, but isn't really for me. He definitely isn't a bad teacher by any means. LOTS of homework, and it takes awhile. Success depends on your T.A. (having to retake, 2nd time better). Read the book & you'll be fine.
So Kenny is Lecture HEAVY... all he does is speak and write down on the board and if you are not in class you will not be able to do his homework. He is not always available after class so you just have to wait for him to be available if you want your questions answered.
I honestly understood nothing he said, it was mostly because of his accent. My TA was pretty good so I wasnt completely lost. Theres a problem set due almost every week and two midterms.
I didnt understand him, his accent is very heavy and his handwriting is not legible. Without the supplemental discussion class I wouldve definitely failed.
Definitely an interesting man, to say the least. A true character with a very interesting voice. He wrote his own textbook that is used for the course, and his lectures consist of him reading it back to you off of pure memory. Go to discussion, as the TAs are very helpful. Macro is really hard, but the course has a huge curve. Don't take for fun.
Kenny is such a sweet guy, you can tell he really loves economics because he's really passionate about what he teaches. Problem is it's hard to understand him in lecture and his handwriting isn't the best, so if you don't understand what happened in lecture definitely go to your discussion, they help a lot. hw due every week, 2 exams, one final.
I really liked Kenny, he is very passionate about the subject, which helps. He is difficult to understand in lectures which can be difficult but he wrote the textbook and the lectures are carbon copies of it so I suggest reading the textbook a lot. The TAs are very helpful as well. Overall, great guy and not too hard of a class.
Discussion sections don't really help much. This is definitely a class you have to study for and work hard, read the textbook. Kenny isn't very receptive to questions during lecture, but he will help you during his office hours. Weekly homework assignments can be a little rough at times but overall not a lot of work for the class.
Lectures are very good, he writes basically everything you need to know on the board very clearly. The textbook is written by him and is basically just the same as the lecture, I didn't find reading it too useful unless I missed class. Discussion wasn't very helpful, mostly just homework help. There's homework once a week. He's very nice and funny.
I had planned on leaving my remarks about this professor and his class rather promptly after my semester with him, but better late than never. He is kind, caring, thoughtful, funny, helpful, considerate, and in short, possesses every quality that you wish to find not only in a professor but in any human being in general. Just do your best.
The problem set is good and is a large percentage in the total grade. If you did well on your homework you will be fine
Kenny's a super chill dude. He doesn't enunciate his words, but if you read the textbook and look at what he writes on the board you can piece things together.
Kenny was overall a pretty decent professor. He was humorous and his humor livened up the typically dull lectures. He wrote the textbook, so he's very knowledgeable about the subject. He does, however, speak WAY TOO fast and it's hard to understand what he's saying. But by reading the textbook and copying what's on the board, you should be fine.
Kenny's macro class was my easiest course even though i ended up with a B+ because his tests were a bit trippy, but other than that, he played a song at the start of every lecture so it was fun. As long as you attend lecture and copy the notes he writes on the board and do the problem sets correctly, you should be able to pull an easy A or B.
Kenny is really outgoing and cool, but he is not very engaging. Lectures can be every difficult to understand so it would be a good idea to go to every discussion you can. There's only once a week homework and they're fairly easy. Most of your grade relies on the two exams and final which are very thorough.
Can't say I was a fan of his course, although Kenny is a laid back and nice guy. Graded on 2 midterms, a final, and problem sets. I didn't go to any of his lectures after the first two weeks because I couldn't understand his accent and he basically reads straight off the textbook. Textbook is essential and you'll be fine if you study and read.
he's hard to understand and just briefly touches upon the concept while you have to figure everything else by yourself. The TAs are a lot of help so you should def go to your discussion section. sometimes he wouldn't teach us what was in the homework so we wouldn't know what to do. rushed things towards the end of the semester.
Kenny loves to teach which you can see. He can be a little tough to understand, so sit towards the front. DON'T buy the textbook, he will probably post it online. Go to discussions, it will help with the problem sets. Make sure to keep up with the reading, it will be hard to catch up (or understand Kenny) if you don't. Overall a pretty fair course.
Kenny is very nice and passionate about economics and is quite knowledgable, but his lectures are tough to comprehend and are boring. His lectures are basically the textbook word for word.
Kenny is awesome. He's very funny and passionate about the class. One homework a week and tests are fair. Speaks very fast, but writes everything down on the board so lectures are not tough to follow.
Kenny is super awesome. I am a science major and I took this for the general-ed because I took it in high school and liked it. I had a solid time in the class and found the material engaging. Kenny is one of the smartest men I've ever met even though he may not seem like it at first. Besides the tons of hw, would def recommend.
i dont undertsand him when he talks. you just need a pic of the board. you might learn in discussion. his tests are always the same
He's a nice guy, I'll give him that. Just a horrible at lecturing because he speaks too fast and is really incomprehensible. If you are an econ major, take this class cause you have to. However, if you want the N credit, I would stay away. Heed my words. This is a difficult class to pass.
Has anger issues and is very uninspiring. Not clear and hard to understand.
Professor Christianson is quite hard to understand at times. If you can get past that, his lectures are quite a bit enjoyable. The tests themselves are more difficult than homework and lectures would make you believe, making any course with him, one you certainly need to study a lot for.
Kenny is a great guy, very passionate about economics, and very helpful. Unfortunately he can be very hard to understand in lecture based on his odd speech or accent or whatever it is. Still a solid class as long as you read and go to lecture. Not much homework, just one 5-6 question problem set due every friday and 3 tests.
Kenny is by far the best econ professor at Bing. He is very passionate about what he teaches and makes class fun. The one thing I did not like about this class were the 3 group projects. Besides that, his tests are straight forward and fair and if you go to class and study you'll do fine.
Kenny is extremely passionate and knowledgeable. The only problem is his speech. Whenever he talks during lectures, he slurs a lot and puts an emphasis on the last word of each sentence. His speech is a little incoherent but you get used to it after a while. Test questions were specific, so pay attention in class, or read the textbook thoroughly.
I will tell you what you need. 1. You don't need to go to class if you read the textbook 2. Do your homework early it is heavy 3. Test are heavy 4. Kenny is a great guy
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PROFESSOR. He's hands down the best professor at Binghamton. This course was the most useful course in college. Three group essays/presentations, two tests, and maybe 4 homework assignments. Very fair class. If you get the opportunity to take this course, consider yourself very lucky. Tests are not hard and he prepares you well.
Super chill even though you can't understand him, he brings weed in to class during the first month, the lecture is half empty after that, he do be vibing though. Sample exams have the same format as actual exams and if you study those it's an easy A.
Amazing econ professor! It's hard to understand him in class but if you have his textbook open while he's talking you'll understand it well. He gives the textbooks for free too, which is a bonus. He's funny, does cool activities every once in a while. I'm definitely gonna miss this class
Hard to understand but easy to follow. If you read the textbook, the lecture is just extra reinforcement. As long as you write down everything he puts on the board, you'll do well.
I got used to his voice after a couple weeks. He writes the key stuff on the board, anyway. Sitting up front definitely helped. He sometimes gets annoyed at students but it's always justified. I liked going to lectures b/c it was easier to absorb than the textbook. Problem sets were good for making sure I actually learned stuff he missed in class.
Literally can't understand him at all. Has an attitude with students.
Good luck understanding him in lecture, which is coupled with the inability to read his handwriting on the blackboard. He will often become frustrated with students that ask him for clarification/to repeat something. My TA for this class was useless and didn't seem familiar with the material at all. Unfair final dropped my overall grade 15 points.
I found his tests to be incredibly difficult to figure out. As in, there was so much material in the course yet so little he put onto the test. It was difficult to pay attention during his lectures.
Lectures were hard to understand and unnecessary if you go through the textbook thoroughly before each test. 3 tests are basically your entire grade. TA didn't know the material but were helpful with tips for tests. Homework due each Friday but is fairly simple
Attendance was not mandatory, however it was helpful to go to class because he wrote all of the notes on the board. It was pretty hard to understand him a lot of the time because he seems to have some sort of speech issue. Overall, if you read the textbook, do the homework assignments, go to discussion, and study for the 3 exams it will be an easyA
Kenny is the GOAT, loved by most of bing. He's a little hard to understand but if you read the textbook and study you don't need to attend lecture. I went if I was behind on readings, as he tries his best to make lectures interesting. The problem sets are time consuming but not difficult. The exams actually require studying, especially the final.
Besides the fact that it is hard to understand him Kenny is great. The tests are overall fair. This class should be an easy B+ to A- and if you work a little harder an A is achievable. I would take Kenny again.
Kenny is an awesome professor. Just do the work and you should be fine. He's very friendly and cares about his students. Take him and you'll actually enjoy the class!!
Kenny is such a good professor and I enjoyed his ECON350 class so much! He gives good feedbacks for you group papers and hw assignments. Took his 162 at my freshman year and hesitated to take his 350, but glad I made the choice, the class environment and participation are so much better in a smaller class. Also class prepares you for ECON450.
Kenny is the goat. The workload is very fair and if you read the textbooks and watch the lectures it should be an easy A. Would definitely recommend taking this class.
Kenny may be the sweetest guy on earth. He is a straightforward lecturer but takes the time to record all lectures and play music before he starts. His textbook is exactly how he speaks and is super easy to understand. Pay attention to graphs. Do the problem sets and prac tests for midterms/finals. Go to discussion and pay attention. Love Kenny sm
Really easy going and straight forward with his grading. Just read the textbook to prepare for tests if you choose not to go to class.
He is super understanding about everything - whether it be a technical mistake made by myCourses or a problem you had while completing an assignment. He takes his time to explain his lectures and is a fair grader. He also dropped our lowest problem set grade and gave us a 100 in place of it. Great professor who really knows his material!
Kenny is a great dude and was a pretty enjoyable class to go to. He started off each day with a fire song. Class was optional and it was online so that was great. His tests were fair and there were problem sets once a week but this class should be a pretty relaxing class especially for econ. Stingy on not rounding up a 92.8 to a 93 for the A though
He's a good professor who cares about his students. He only gives one assignment per week, which is a short set of MPC questions. His lectures can be hard to understand sometimes, but in response to that, I would suggest reading the chapters of the textbook before he teaches them during lectures.
This man writes his own textbook. There's a lot of extra information you do not need to read to pass or to understand. Lectures are usually miss. Sometimes people just drop their hw on Friday and leave. He always plays music at the beginning of class, which I loved. But, this man cannot teach. My TA was sort of helpful. Just not my style of learnin
Kenny is great.
Easiest class I've taken, especially with covid. He posts his lectures, you don't have to show up to anything, there's review sessions for the weekly homework. 3 tests and homework decide your grade. Really the only worry are the tests.
Kenny is the coolest boomer ever! I should have paid attention more but bc attendance was not mandatory, I didn't go each time. The problem sets were easy and my TA just gave us the answers. There were three noncumulative tests which i thought was fair. Overall, would recommend this class, not bad at all, and definitely take it with Kenny!
Kenny is the absolute goat, he's a great professor and you can tell he cares a lot about the class and his students
Kenny is a G and for people who are into economics I would recommend. However for people who just need the gen-ed requirement like I did, be careful. His zoom lectures weren't necessary, but if you don't pay attention you won't know whats on the test. Homework was easy but tests were difficult and were most of the grade
Kenny is a good guy and really likes his students and his material. Since his class is so large it's hard to build any real relationship. His lectures are somewhat non-engaging but overall easy to follow. He provides the textbook himself so you don't have to pay for it and you really don't need to read it either if you pay attention in class.
Kenny is the GOAT. Some people didn't like his lecture style which I suppose is understandable, but in all honesty this might be the coolest guy I've ever met in my life and his class isn't that hard. Grade depends heavily on tests so don't mess the tests up, just read the textbook (which he wrote, and gives everyone free access to). Love this man
As long as you read the textbook you will be fine. There are not a lot of assignments for this class besides reading the textbook, doing a small weekly assignment, and studying for tests so it is very manageable. Professor Christianson makes the lectures very interesting and provides many real world examples.
Kenny is awesome. His lectures are very informative so make sure to pay attention in class. He knows a lot about the subject and really tries to help you understand it well. He also gives you plenty of study resources for tests which I appreciated a lot.
Kenny is a great teacher, very clear and easily understandable. Must read the textbook and don't really need the lectures if so. There are weekly quizzes but they're not hard if you keep up with the material. Tests were also straightforward, and all multiple choice. Lectures were recorded so you don't need to go to class.
Kenny is a super cool dude. Made his own textbook so you don't have to buy one. Tests can be kind of difficult so I wouldn't recommend as a Gen Ed but if you're interested in economics at all he's great. Graded on problem sets once a week and three tests. Not super hard but definitely wouldn't say its an easy A at all
Took an online summer class. Great professor, knows a tremendous deal about the subject. Exams come straight from notes/textbook. There are three papers which are relatively easy but require extensive research. Explains topics more complex than needed at times. A good amount of hw given, grading for hw is strict (mistakes are costly).
Incredibily boring and his voice is sort of bothersome over time
Kenny is a cool professor. He's tough to understand sometimes especially with a mask on. His lecture is word for word from his textbook so if you miss a lecture, just catch up on reading. There are 3 tests and they are non-cumulative. Problem sets are weekly but if you go to the discussion, your TA usually explains the homework very clearly.
Kenny's a knowledgeable professor... he knows what he's talking about. However, he's very unapproachable. He always seems unhappy talking with you one-on-one and he takes forever to respond to emails. Only take this course if it interests you, otherwise, you'll be screwed.
I don't think there was a single time this semester where I understood what was going on. Kenny is a chill guy but this class made me want to cry :(
Kenny is a chill and funny guy, but his class is definitely not easy. Ten problem set with the lowest grade dropped, and almost everyone got 100. Two tests worth 40% in total, and one final worth 30%. Dont have to go to class. Read textbook thoroughly then youll be fine. Just not an easy A
Good and caring prof who tries to create a cohesive learning environment, but it's not the class to take if you care about your GPA. Even though it's not a hard class, a lot of your grade is out of your hands. There's 3 group projects and he's a harsh grader for those as wells as the homework. Tests are very easy to do mediocre on but hard to ace
I think he does try and cares about his students but this class is insanely lecture heavy and I can never understand what he's saying so I just teach myself everything before tests. If you have a really good TA it's probably super easy but this class definitely is taught in a way that makes it harder than it really is.
The exams can be difficult, so study a lot and memorize the formulas and graphs from your problem sets. If you have any questions you should go to his office hours because they can be very helpful. He is a good professor, but he can be a little difficult to understand sometimes, so I'd recommend not sitting too far in the back.
Textbook is free and written by professor himself. Teaches his textbook material in class. Difficult to understand during lectures. Weekly hw assignments that can be challenging. Exams are very difficult and they count for the majority of your grade; they are not cumulative.
he teaches straight from the textbook (which he gives you) and gives plenty of resources to help you do well and the lectures are overall helpful. he's a super fair grader and is one of the more chill teachers on campus.
The class wasn't too difficult, there were just not many things that go into your grade. We had 10 homework assignments and 3 tests. He provides a textbook, which I read, but not sure if it helped me that much. Most test questions are similar to practice test questions, with some exceptions. If you have a good TA it will make this class easier.
a really nice guy but horrible teacher. DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE BEFORE MICRO. Take micro first or you won't get it because he's such a bad teacher. His lectures are useless. If you read the textbook and study you can succeed but his lectures suck
Easy listening professor to learn from and take notes. He has his own textbook which he teaches from almost exactly. If you read the textbook and take notes in class, its easy and enjoyable. He is also very available outside of class! 10/10 would take again!
The information he provides in lectures is important and can definitely help you during your tests. With that being said, he is really difficult to understand in terms of the way he speaks. Cool guy and seems like he actually cares about his students.
I could not physically go to class because lectures were so hard to follow with the way he speaks and teaches. class is pointless the homework and tests are easy if you study like a few days before and go to discussion.
He is very passionate about his teaching, but he is somewhat hard to understand in the lectures, which are practically useless as it is just him reading from his textbook. The two midterms and the final make up 70% of your overall grade. Although you only needed a 90 after the curve to get an A in the class, only 1/9 of the class was able to do so.
His textbooks were free and the tests and lectures were completely based around the textbook. Going to lecture is not mandatory, or even necessary as long as you read the textbook, but it is definitely helpful.
While I couldn't understand what he was saying half the time, I thought Kenny was a great professor. His textbook was free, and it really helped with studying for tests. The test structure for the two midterms and final was exactly the same - they're relatively easy as long as you study the content. Problem sets are really helpful for tests as well
Great professor! He really cares for his students and also loves what he's teaching. You're graded on 2 midterms, a final exam, and homework. He made his own textbook, so you don't have to pay for one, and his lectures align with his textbook which is helpful. If you put in the right amount of effort, you can definitely get an A in this class.
You should definitely take micro first. He's a really good guy but a terrible professor. Majority of the class, you can't even understand him. Tests are pretty detailed and can be difficult. I would not recommend this professor or take this class again with him!
Kenny is a great guy and his class isnt hard if you read the textbook, do problem sets, and go to discussion. He can have pacing problems in lecture and goes off on tangents but I definitely recommend taking his class.
Don't take this class before micro, the only reason I did well on the first exam was bc I knew the material on it from micro and I didn't do well on either exam after. He is hard to understand and you will not get an A in this class unless you put a lot of effort into it. Not impossible but certainly not an easy class. This was my lowest grade.
Kenny is legitimately the father of Binghamton. Amazing person, love everything about him, except his teaching ability. His accent is hard to understand and he moves fast. Long problem set for homework each week and a hard test also multiple times throughout the semester. But that's it. Take him if you need credit but temper expectations.
Kenny was a great professor. He has demos in class that are really good for teaching new concepts. If you put effort into the problem sets and go to discussion, you will do well on his tests.
Teaches straight from the textbook he wrote so if you miss a class it's not a big deal and the weekly problem sets take 1.5 hours at most (5 questions each). The tests are very fair, I would recommend this class.
His lectures come straight from the textbook and he even uses the same examples so if you just read the textbook then you don't need to go to class. Your grade is just two tests and the final, not cumulative, and problem sets with the lowest dropped. Problem sets aren't too hard but it really depends on how helpful your TA is.
Kenny is pretty dope and funny asf, talks weird sometimes but nothing crazy, shouldn't have any issues with him. Textbooks included, 10 problem sets, 2 tests, and a final, not bad. Tests are fair just be sure to study. No complaints really just make sure you prepare for tests and join the group me's for help on problem sets and you'll be aii
Lectures can be difficult to understand because of his fast talking so READ THE TEXTBOOK. Really funny guy. It helps if you have a good TA to help with the weekly problem sets.
Kenny is a great prof. Knows the content is a bit boring but makes class fun - today he had a girl cut a banana in half. START THE PROB SETS EARLY. They get really hard and sometimes involve content we didn't learn yet. Kenny speaks very fast but he gives you his own textbook for free so just follow along as he speaks and you'll be good.
Kenny seems like a nice guy who cares about his students, but he isn't the best at teaching. He can be difficult to understand and has a problem with pacing as he always is cramming a new concept into the last 2 minutes of class and we have been behind in the syllabus all semester. Tests are fair but hope you get a good TA for problem sets.
Kenny is great, however during lecture can be hard to understand speaking wise. Lectures aren't mandatory, but definitely super helpful in understanding concepts. the textbook is super useful if you miss a class or couldn't understand him. Problems sets are simple if have a good TA. Tests are fair, and follow the same format each time.
Overall I enjoyed the class. You're graded on two midterms, a final exam, and ten problem sets. Kenny's a nice guy but can be kind of hard to understand in class sometimes, so reading his textbook is a must if you want to do well. Definitely recommend!
Econ 162 is definitely a bit of a hard class, but Kenny makes it a little bit better. If you want to do well on the tests, go to lecture! The problem sets are a grade booster but you have to actually put the work in. The final was pretty hard but not cumulative which was nice. The discussions help if you're TA is good, if not, good luck
Kenny is an amazing person and makes class fun. 3 group research projects graded a bit harshly but fair. Midterm and final were very fair and straight from his typed out notes he provides. The class has its own commodity, bond, and stock market with class cash currency which was fun. I enjoyed buying my weekly Hershey bar with fake class money.
Great professor, fun class. He can be a tough grader with seemingly random grading criteria, especially on the HW and group projects. However, his class notes and review materials are excellent and makes studying for the midterm and final very manageable.
Kenny is very lecture heavy, but difficult to understand because of how fast he talks. His homeworks are easy, but some midterms are challenging bc of how much there is to remember. He posts past midterms for review prior to the tests and always has the same format for each test. Make sure to attend lecture if you want all the notes (theres a lot)
HW is worth 30% and is easy. Boring lectures, tests are more difficult than any practice. Material is easy and online so the class is passable and an A is attainable with some work.
Kenny was a v good prof. He spoke a little fast so record his lectures if you can bc you probably wont catch everything. Graded on 3 tests and 10 problem sets. He gives really good review materials for his tests (review sheet and practice exams). The tests also aren't cumulative so thats a plus. overall good prof and a very fair grader.
It is true that his lecture was hard to understand and couldn't help not understanding his class at all sometimes.
His lectures aren't that helpful and can be kinda confusing but all that really matters is if you read his textbook. It basically says everything he says but more clearly. But its overall not too difficult of a course, you just need to put some effort in.
Overall Kenny is a good dude. He is super hard to understand and the homework was a lot every week. The good part about it is that homework counts as 30 percent. This course is annoying like a lot of other intro courses but you will be fine on the tests if you complete the problem sets every week with full understanding. Good Luck!
Econ 162 was a pretty OK class. Kenny made the class fun by doing cool activities pertaining to the specific topic. Some of the topics on the Problem Sets aren't mentioned until the day they're due, so I would use the GroupMe or Textbooks for help. Kinda hard class if you don't have a good TA (which very well might happen).
Kenny is an excellent professor overall, however, the lectures are pretty confusing if you aren't keeping up with the textbook. If you don't understand the material he's extremely helpful during office hours, he explains each problem set and helps with the questions if you're stuck on them. Very easy to talk to and knows a lot about his topic.
Look over Kenny's textbook (available on Brightspace) if you got lost during the lecture since those are really similar to each other. There are 10 problem sets, which is helpful on the short response section of his test (3 in total), and he will give review materials before the test. Def. use the TAs if you are lost on the material.
Really nice guy and definitely has more entertaining lectures than other professors. Taking notes and studying the textbook will get you a good grade in the class almost guaranteed (tests are basically straight off the textbook). Forming a study group to do homeworks and prepare for the test really helps
I could not hear a singe word that man said, I really liked him but somehting about his voice sounded like music and I could't understand his lyrics. I love how much he loves Macro-Econ but I did kinda struggle in this class. If you like macro do takeeee
Overall fair class as long as you read the textbook, attend most lectures and do the homework correctly. The TA's suck but they tell you the problem set answers. If you do the work, an A is attainable.
Good guy. Class is fair, he gives you the textbook online for free which exactly matches his lectures. SUPER difficult to understand though. If you read the textbook and do the problem sets you'll be fine. He is a tough grader, and tests tended to be a little rough, but overall this shouldn't kill your grade as long as you do the work
Great professor, sometimes hard to understand. You learn most of the info needed for the problem sets in the discussion classes. Overall, it was an enjoyable class and he posts many resources in order for you to succeed, would definitely take a class of his again.
Don't expect any remorse from this guy. It is not impossible to succeed, but you must be willing to put a heck of a lot of effort into it. He is hard to approach, but I would highly recommend going to office hours and requesting extra tests. As an SOM/ECON student, this class is a must, so don't let it get to you too much. No way around it.
Kenny talks way too quickly during lectures, making it hard to grasp information if you're not closer to the board. Just read the textbook and get a decent TA for discussion and I'm sure you'll do alright.
To get an A: Do the problem sets & read textbook/attend lecture. Exams highly reflect the problem sets, so make sure u fully understand them. I didn't read the textbook, but I attended lectures and went to his office hours almost weekly to ask questions. Kenny provides a study guide prior to each exam, CTRL+F on his book n read around dem. fab ken!
Kenny is extremely hard to understand so it's important that you have a good TA, actually do the problem sets, and read the tb if ur not gonna go to lecture. The course is hard but he offers a lot of practice material and reuses.a lot of problems. Go to him for office hours for extra help/practice exams. Not impossible but def very difficult.
Kenny is extremely hard to understand due to his accent so it's important that you have a good TA, actually do the problem sets, The course is hard but he offers a lot of practice material and reuses a lot of problems.
Kenny is the GOAT. The class itself is quite difficult, its economics, but if you go to office hours and really put in the work an A is very achievable. Kenny gives a nice curve to grades and really wants to see you succeed. He gives us practice tests that are very similar to the actual tests and his class are based off his textbook. Take him.
Kenny is the GOAT and one of my favorite professors at Binghamton. He is such a nice, wholesome and funny dude who is very knowledgable. You might not understand a single word he says but that's what the textbook is for. Attend lectures and ask questions in your discussion and you'll be fine. The class is honestly worth it just to experience Kenny
Kenny is a good teacher but his accent is so bad that I didn't go to lecture. He gives you his own written textbook online and if you read/study that then you'll be good for the exams. What he teaches in lecture is verbatim from the textbook. Discussion attendance was optional but if you went then he would round up your letter grade if close.
Kenny is not a professor, he is an experience. He is a funny and based guy. He makes Macroeconomics fun, and his lectures are just great to attend. And don't forget the free textbooks! His lectures are based on the textbook, so read that and attend lecture, and you should have no trouble. Weekly problem sets, midterm and final are the assignments.
KENNNNNNNY - But seriously this is one of the best economic professors at Binghamton, Kenny is a really nice guy, his class is fun and enjoyable to go through. Not participation heavy, I was often on my phone while taking notes but did relatively well in the class. I highly recommend talking a class with him if you get the opportunity. :)
Kenny is a great person but his lecture is just based on the textbook he posted in brightspace. Everything sounds easy but when the midterm and final hits, you'll do bad on the test for no reason.
Kenny is great! He is a fair & fun professor and the class is an okay workload. He is definitely hard to understand so sit up close during lectures, and hope for a good discussion TA. Textbook is free, discussion is optional, 3 tests total & 10 problem sets. At least attend lecture or read the textbook, and do your problem sets, and you're set.
His inflection is to die for. Everything is a question
70% of your entire grade is based off 3 exams. You will almost never know what he is saying so going to lecture is useless, just read the textbook during class time (dont fall behind) and you will pass. He does not help you in any way if you are or feel like you are failing and he ignores emails that asks about grades/curves. Hope for a good TA.
70% of your entire grade is based on 3 exams and there are weekly problem sets. Get a good TA and they will help you. Lecture is fine but it can be difficult to understand Kenny's voice.
70 percent are exams which are easyish. He is a terrible lecturer as he talks more about his personal stuff and his divorce and all of that. It was funny but sad.
Best professor ever! Make sure you sit in the front of the class because sometimes he's hard to understand. Very easy for a 300-level ECON elective.
Kenny is the best! And this is probably the best 300 level econ elective you can take at Bing. Two exams each only worth 20% of your grade, with the bulk of your grade made up of group projects and homework assignments that are easy.
Lecture and textbook are the same so I would recommend going to class and using the textbook to study aspects you don't understand. The class was fun in the beginning but got more challenging as the semester progressed. Discussion section was very helpful for answering questions and reviewing problems for the problem sets.
Ask anyone and they will say they love Kenny. His lectures are always fun and he will usually incorporate something interesting, wacky, and memorable that relates to the topic. His handwriting and voice can be hard to keep up with at times but the lectures are almost identical to the text book so you can use it during class. Exams are 70% of grade.
Mr. Christianson was a fantastic teacher. His lectures were entertaining and informative. Be sure to read all assigned chapters in the textbook as they directly correlate to lectures. Discussion sessions are valuable for going over the weekly problem sets. I highly recommend this class to any freshman interested in an introductory economics course.
Lectures were pretty difficult to understand, though on some days there were demonstrations of economic concepts that had the class enjoying themselves. TA did a lot of the heavy lifting for my grade. Oh, and turn in the homework on time, because after a certain point in the semester, if you are late you will be publicly humiliated.
Kenny is a great is a professor and if you put in work you will succeed. The readings he goves each week are identical to lectures so you don't need to go to class. Tests are similar to porblem sets and sample exams he posts. As long as you study and do the readings and problem sets you will succeed. Would definetely take.
Kenny can be engaging but it is incredibly hard to understand him. Ended up reading the textbook on my own to understand the materials. Tests also make up 70% of your grade but overall wasn't a tough class if you put in enough effort.
Kenny is a great professor and tries to engage with the class in lectures. The first midterm is straight forward, but then people's grades begin to drop during the second midterm, and the final. Discussion sections were helpful to ask questions, and you just go over problem set work. How helpful a discussion is depends on the TA.
Kenny was a good professor in the beginning but his lectures became more and more difficult to understand. He would not give enough preparation for exams (only two old tests that are 10 years old). We never knew what specific detail he wanted us to know on the test. Most of the class ended up failing midterms/final, which shows a lot about a class.
Great guy. A bit hard to understand, so probably not ideal if you have audio processing issues or are a nonnative speaker. Go to lectures and read textbook and you should be fine. Super nice if you ever need help!
Very nice guy but very hard to understand his lectures because of how fast he talks. The tests were pretty difficult but depending on the TA you can do well on the homework assignments.
He comes to class inebriated and you can not understand when he talks. Although what he says in class is word for word the textbook so there is no point on going. 30% of your grade is hw that is graded by a TA, so if you get a mean TA your basically screwed. He has ten year and you can tell, he reuses past hw and tests and has no new material.
Fast-paced lectures, but engaging TAs make up for it. Textbook and unstuckstudy ai great for exam prep. Grading depends heavily on the TA - get a good one and you'll do well.
The content is fair for a principles of macroeconomics course. Grading depends on your TA as they grade your homework and exams. Kenny is great however it's so difficult to understand him. The way he speaks and the pace he speaks makes it difficult to follow along which is why you should have the textbook opened during lectures.
Professor Christianson is amazing. He makes his lectures very enjoyable, and is very clear with concepts. The discussion sections were helpful, and problem sets were fair. He ties what is happening in the real world to the class. His exams are very similar to his practice exams, and the same applies to the final. Very funny and knowledgeable!
Kenny's awesome, super nice guy who's very knowledgeable about economics. I really enjoyed his lectures, never read the textbooks just paid attention and took handwritten notes. Lots of great TA's and tutors, tests are fair. If you put in the work this should be an easy and interesting class for you!
Kenny is a great quirky guy, he's nice and he even plays good music before class. The class is straight forward, he is hard to understand but the lectures are the exact same as the textbook. If you spend time to read it you'll do fine in this class. Tests have the same types of questions. He is very knowledgeable and the material is interesting.
He is a pretty funny guy. Just read the textbook and pay attention in class. Pray you get a good TA. If you do not get a good TA go get a school tutor they are very helpful. To study the exam, spam the practice questions and go to his office hours for more practice questions.
Probably the worst teacher I've ever had in my life. He does not care about his students at all.
An institution at Bing, not sure why. Rambles heavily, slurs his words all class, has bad handwriting, uses a textbook he wrote years ago. Read his textbook instead of going, he's unclear in class and doesn't check email. Go to section, prep for tests with past exams. Talks politics half of class, big time waster (read his election mail in class?).
He is a great teacher, sometimes hard to decipher his handwriting and understand what he is saying but other than that great. Go to your discussions, they are arguably even more important than the lectures.
Sometimes hard to understand what he is saying during lectures and his handwriting can be hard to decipher sometimes. I recommend going to office hours before exams, he gives out last semesters exam and they are always very similar. Also go to all of your discussions they are arguably more important than the lectures.
Very hard to understand, also handwriting was not good. Made his own textbook and it's the same as what he says in lecture. Nice guy but personally did not understand most of what he lectured about. Final exam was pretty tough and he crams everything in last minute even if it's really last minute
Great guy, fantastic class, he could have made the class a nightmare but instead its a fun class that gets you interested in the field of economics, I HIGHLY recommend going to his office hours.
Kenny is very entertaining and he makes lectures interesting. If you pay attention in class and take notes you will do well. Grading is based on group projects and tests. The group projects are not hard and the tests aren't very complicated either as he posts practice exams that are very similar to the actual test.
He wrote on the chalkboards to teach the lecture - really hard to see from far away. Readings got too overwhelming, if I spent more time actually reading them I would have gotten a better grade in the class, he went over the concepts from the readings in class - definitely beneficial to do the readings. Funny guy, open to help you outside of class.
really nice and understanding, weekly problem sets that help with tests, tests were very similar to practice tests. very fair grader and responsive to emails. would love to have him for a different class
Class was 70% based on tests, 30% homeworks. Lectures got kind of boring and he teaches right out of the textbook. Skipped and took my own notes instead. Tests were extremely similar to practice exams. Go to office hours to get more recent practice exams!!! Overall easy to pass the class if you put in the effort.
He's fine! Subject matter wasn't too hard and there was a ton of available test prep, plus lots of really easy hw grades. He can be a little strange and tends to talk way too fast during lectures, but for the most part the class is alright. My experience was definitely helped by having a really solid TA.
Love this guy. He goes out of his way to make learning more interesting for us (ClassCash). He's understanding, and granted me an extension when I really needed it. Loved listening to him speak. He was hard to understand at first, but I got used to it. He also posted class notes/lectures online, if you couldn't understand something.
Kenny was my favorite professor. Even though he can be tough to understand sometimes hes awesome. I took Macro with him and he gave reasonable work and fair tests. The practice tests are insanely helpful and the ones he gives during office hours are identical to his tests. Also the tutoring at CIW helped a lot if you dont understand lecture.
The class wasn't that hard , the problem sets every week are a great grade boost and the exams are almost exactly like the practice test - go to office hours to get extra.
Professor is very caring and accommodating to our needs. TAs are knowledgeable and helpful. He's funny and does his best to make his lectures somewhat entertaining for his students.
Very knowledgeable about econ but terrible at conveying the info. As the semester progressed his lectures became increasingly confusing and he seemed to expect us to know content that was never fully discussed in class if at all. I found myself studying new concepts for every homework and low class averages on exams show that I wasn't the only one.
Kenny is a nice guy but his lectures are useless and he's inaudible. Read the textbook. Homework is easy and a grade boost most of the time, but sometimes he teaches you the content of the homework after the due date??? Class is not hard, textbook is your best friend
Spends half the class talking about politics, is quite literally inaudible and writes all notes in illegible handwriting.
Dude has to be developing dementia or something there's no way he's still a 3.8 professor.
Speaks fast and mumbles, making it impossible to understand him. To make matters worse, you can hardly copy down any of the notes because of his messy handwriting.
Sweet guy, just inaudible. As a non-econ major, all my friends in the econ dep here have told me to just take micro and macro through my community college for the credit, as the econ team at Bing isn't great, and this class really cemented that for me. Don't waste your time, just take micro and macro at your CC.
Kenny's so sweet, but he's terrible at communicating content. He's inaudible, and his lectures are a jumbled mess. He often teaches content after assignments are due and expects you to understand everything. His textbook also barely makes sense, so be on top of reading and teaching yourself.
Wish I could give a 0
Kenny was alright. If you want to do well in this class you have to read the textbook. I spent hours every week reading the textbook as I couldn't really understand him in class or read the board. The practice tests are also extremely useful and I highly recommend going to office hours to get more. He's a nice guy but you have to read to do well.
Cant understand what he's saying
He is extremely difficult to understand and it can seem like he is speaking a completely different language. He doesn't utilize class time efficiently- first 10 minutes he plays music and the next 20 minutes he rambles on about hating President Trump. Even his textbook can be confusing. Puts questions on tests that have nothing to do with econ.
are the comments about him being hard to understand true? Yes. if you just try and don't slack off its a really easy class people just don't go to class or read the textbook and expect to get an A. get extra tests during his office hours and study the review sheet. he a nice guy overall but can be a rambler. take it at cc if you dont wanna try.
Lectures can be hard to understand/pay attention to, plus the weekly problem sets were somewhat challenging, but if you talk to him about most issues, he is understanding and wants to help you out. Chill guy. Beware of occasional political commentary, however.
He showed us his weed stash in lecture. Very hard to understand him so sit towards the front. Go to office hours before the exams to pick up extra practice tests. Read his textbook, it's free and very helpful.
Its impossible to understand anything he is saying so get ready to rely on TA and homeworks. There are two exams, both the same layout.
Kenny is a great guy who really cares about his students and the material. He can ramble a bit during lectures and sometimes is difficult to understand. He is super available outside of class and excited to give extra help if you go to his office hours. Practice tests and review sheets are identical to midterms and final. Great guy overall.
Kenny rambles a lot during lectures, but he is a chill and nice guy. Go to his office hours before exams since he gives out extra practice tests. If you study the practice tests and have a lenient TA, you'll do well. As for comments on not understanding him, it makes sense since his intonation is worse than the rollercoasters at Six Flags.
Homework once a week that helps to prepare for tests. Lectures are more useful than the book so even though participation isn't graded, go to class. He's a great speaker and makes the lectures fun
couldnt understand a single word
Can't understand a word he says
Yes, he's tough to understand, but he teaches from the textbook so just skim over concepts after lecture. Super helpful/caring during office hours. Practice tests are exactly like the test. Just study and you won't struggle.
Kenny's a great guy and accessible out of class, but super hard to understand during lectures. You can get by just reading his textbook and doing homeworks without actually going to lectures.
Kenny is great human. Grading is clear and he gives great resources for midterms and finals. Lectures can get boring, he tends to yap and he cant be hard to hear sometimes, but if you sit in the front its very easy to hear him. If you aren't lazy and can study a little you will be just fine.
All of these negative ratings are people who are lazy and didn't go to a single class. Kenny is a caring prof who will tend to yap at the beginning of class but will always provide study resources. Some of the practice exams he gives have the exact same questions as the exam ones so those are free. If you can't do the bare minimum then drop out.
Insufferable
Can't understand what he says. He's a nice guy though. Textbook is your key.
Old school professor, hates digital stuff. He isn't afraid to embarrass his students(he is a bit rude sometimes) and the way he talks is very difficult to understand, listening to his lectures makes me want to drink water. Not lenient with deadlines, need proof for everything, got a 0 on my hw because I was sick and couldn't provide documentation.
He is such a nice guy, super down to earth, and very easy to talk to and willing to help. Problem sets are key to learning the material. Lectures are super old school, chalkboard notes, and hard to understand, but he makes it easy to do well if you do your home work and study the textbook. Tests always throw a curveball, so be prepared.
I was a pretty good student in highschool but this class is TOUGH. Yes you can read the textbook and attend lectures, but since the class is mostly graded through exams, it is hard to achieve an A.
Great guy and knows what he is talking about but those are about only the redeeming qualities about him. He rambles a lot in class and it is impossible to understand what he is saying. His lectures are taken directly from the textbook and tests are pretty easy except for a few questions that have nothing to do with economics that are thrown in.
Kenny is funny and chill as a guy but as a teacher is rough. he mumbles and writes incoherently and puts questions on the test that don't exist during lecture. only take this class if you have to.
He is very hard to understand so be ready to go to tutoring sessions and other study groups. Material is challenging and he isn't very clear with what will be on exams. His exams are pretty fair though, but are extremely hard contextually. I recommend reading the textbook and attending tutoring sessions, or you will not pass the class!
Cares about teaching but extremely difficult to understand in lectures and often leaves you guessing what material will be on the test. Free textbook, but over 150+ pages for each test and could randomly bring up anything. Only take this class if needed by degree, better options for Gen Eds.
Very test heavy
Professor Kenny is a great guy with a fun, engaging way of teaching Econ. His fortune cookies always had something to learn from. My only issues were that he talked a bit too fast, even from the front row, and the tests focused on MCQs and T/F he didn't review. Otherwise, he's a solid professor.
Kenny is a funny guy who had some fun moments in lectures here and then. His lectures are barely understandable and it requires an abnormal amount of focus to comprehend what he's saying. Tests are also relatively difficult, so make sure you put some extra study time into the class. He is very accessible and his office hours are definitely helpful.
