I love Kent. He's a funny guy, does an effective job teaching intro to soc. (good illustrations of points), and he really cares about his students. felt personal in spite of 200 people in class.

Good prof. Lots of group activities that aren't very fun. Do the study guide for the test as you read..don't wait until the night before the test or it will take forever!

He is a really nice and fun teacher. Keep up with the reading, and you'll get an A.

as long as you do the study guide and can choose good examples you'll be fine. most departments require taking attendance. the communications department as well as whatever sociology is in. dont take it if you can't show up to class a lot

Makes you want to read and go to class. Take a seminar with him if you want a class that's interesting and fun.

makes you think, kind of closed minded at times, if you like soc. or dont mind going to class and actually trying to think about things, its a great class and it def. shines new light on certain things.

Yes, he's challenging, but why the hell are you in college if you aren't looking for an experience like this? He's a great man who you can tell cares about what he teaches. Suck it up and take a chance.

I studied hard a couple nights before the tests and got an A. He's interesting and will help if you ask.

Very difficult class, have to work hard in it. He has his favorites and thinks he knows everything. The tests are multiple choice, but very picky questions. Wouldn't reccommend him.

Nice guy, you have to study VERY hard for tests.. if you can answer all questions on the study guide, you should be fine

YOu must have to read the book a lot because he says 95% of the test questions are in the study guide (online) but over half the questions are not given in the study guide nor talked about in class. Everyday in class assigments that count for participation points - take Someone else

This guy has really interesting lectures...you won't fall asleep in this class. His tests are hard. Key is to do the study guides as you learn the info. I got A's on the tests doing it that way. Just read the material. I didn't like him. He imposes his views on others..I wouldn't recommend him.

He's a good teacher and does his best to makethe class interesting. However, his tests are incredibly hard... BEWARE

This is a tough class, be prepared to work really hard. The tests are difficult but as long as you do the reading and go to class you'll be ok. I really enjoyed it though and learned alot. The only negative is that he tries to impose his views as fact. Know where you stand and you'll be ok.

he is a great prof. I learned so much in his class. Tests are kinda hard, but not if u study for like an hour. watch lots of movies, and has some interesting class activities. Keeps the class awake, and having fun.

Sandstrom is a fine professor. Some people have trouble with his tests, but they aren't very hard if you actually read the material and do a little studying the night before. He doesn't put down students as some have alleged. Pay attention and he will open your eyes to a lot of interesting points.

Nice guy, just gives hard tests. If you study enough and put enough time into it, you should be able to do fine...it's just a wake up call: HEY YOU'RE IN COLLEGE. *ouch*

He is a very good teacher, and really knows his stuff. Helps out as much as possible. 2 tests, 1 final, evn chances for extra credit. Good advice: GO TO CLASS, read material(not so boring), study for tests.

GREAT PROFESSOR! Some people don't like him because they think he is unfair. The tests are not that bad if you read and go to class. Nevertheless, it is no cakewalk. People get mad at him for questioning their views. But, he got you thinking! Otherwise, you wouldn't be so pissed.

HARD TESTS!!! Very nice professor though. He really tries to get you to learn the stuff, but you have to study for the tests.

Anyone who says this teacher is bad either did not go to class or had his or her view challenged by Sandstrom. These people would be your arrogant students who think that their opinion is always the correct one and cannot handle being made to look silly by posing their unfounded or unchallenged view

I loved Sandstrom's class. I got an easy A. It was an easy A b-c the class was so interesting that I didnt mind doing the homework. I think a lot of pple dont like him b-c he challenges a lot of the narrow ideas of the small town mentality of the students. You're supposed to be challenged in college! It's a first for many and a shock.

Yes he is straight up about his beliefs and pushes them on you, but I don't believe that is what makes his class hard. There is too much participation points focused on getting in small groups..this organization doesn't work in a large lecture like that! Do the readings & go to class & you should be able to pull a B

I have few words to describe how great Sandstrom is. Yes it requires thinking & diligence to do well in his classes but what he offers far outweighs your insignificant late night slacker sessions. Recognize talent when you see it ppl. Take what he says to heart: it can change the way you see youself and those around you; enlighten you.

If writing an opinion paper, make sure you have HIS opinion. Grading is tough. Is lenient when determining deadlines. Understands hectic schedules and works with you to accommodate your situation. Not good prof, but you can find worse.

Love him. Very personable and understanding. We showed up for the final and he said we didn't have to take it!

Single greatest professor I've ever had. The man is not only brilliant, he's humble, down to earth, and one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. His class changed my life. Do yourself a favor and take every class with him that you can...

Prof. Sandstrom is a very caring, thoughtful, and conscientious teacher. He cares enough about students to challenge them to think more deeply and critically about issues. He encourages you to question your basic assumptions and to grow as a "learner" and as a person.

Dr. Sandstrom taught an awesome class ("Women, Men, and Society" )this summer. We had great discussions and he gave very interesting mini-lectures. My classmates and I really enjoyed the class. I'm definitely going to take another class from him. Great teacher and a nice person!

Totally great person, great teacher. Only a complete moron could have a hard time in his class because he explains things very well. Only a complete jerk could dislike this guy because he is so easy going and always in a good mood. Cares about his students. Take his classes.

Kent was a pretty caring guy with alot of interesting things to discuss in class. Anybody with a moderate level of competence will do fine.

Awesome professor. Easily the best I've had. He made me change my major to Sociology. He makes the class interesting and really pushes you to think. He is the first teacher that actually talks about and understands each side of an argument rather than just saying he does. Highly recommended. Dont leave school without having him.

98-99 percent of students really like Prof. Sandstrom's courses. He's bright, caring, thoughtful and very helpful. If you want to learn how to think and write better, take his courses!

Outstanding class -- the best honors course I've taken and one of my favorite classes. Sandstrom is a great teacher who makes classes very engaging. He uses a discussion-based teaching style and makes sure that everyone stays involved. Asks thought-provoking questions... He also offers a lot of feedback on papers.

Great teacher and a caring person -- Cares enough about you to make you think and hold you accountable. Always willing to be helpful.

I took this class with a couple of friends more than two years ago and we still talk about it. The class is both thought-provoking and useful. Prof. Sandstrom was always willing to help us as students.

Discussion-based class that keeps your interest as a student. Relevant for all majors but especially for students in the social sciences. Thoughtful and interesting prof.
