An instructor that teaches his subject well. Gives a lot of homework, but he has taught you how to do the work.

By ease I mean he makes learning interesting and will work with the student to make sure they understand a concept. He does not hold the students hand but does make the learning fun and interesting. He makes you to step up your pace, writing skills, and creativity and does make you think critically.

If you do the readings, and the journals you can definetly have an easier time doing the essay's. He makes the class pretty fun.

He really makes his lectures come alive in the classroom and he brings the themes of the novels into everyday life so that we can relate to the characters on a personal level. Stoddart is one of the few younger teacher's at LAHC who has crystal clear lectures, assignments, and is very organized. It's refreshing to have a teacher under 60, yes i said it. He's a wonderful teacher that will change your view on the world and how you view english papers. There is little wiggle room for error, or slacking so tread lightly!

English 101 with Stoddart allowed me to find my potential as a writer. He utilizes the Scott Forsman Handbook for Writers which is an excellent tool I use to this day. Energetic professor who will change your life.

I took his online class for ENG 101 and found him to be an effective teacher who grades fairly. In the beginning he was picky and criticized my postings, but he actually helped me become a better writer. After taking his advice I was getting max points on everything. The workload is not all that bad but if you are a slacker I don't recommend.

Very good teacher. He is a stickler for writing mechanics, and MLA rules. The writing textbook and his weekly notes are a must for his weekly multiple choice exams. We had to write 2 6 - 8 page research papers and a 500 word extra credit essay. Plus, weekly discussions. Overall, he is a fair teacher, but make sure to watch the deadlines.

Stoddard is one of the best teachers I've taken. He's funny, intelligent and always willing to help. You def have to be willing to work though but it's totally worth it in the end. I feel I'm a much better writer and it's all thanks to this class and his excellent guidance.

Stoddart is a really chill dude. The class was easy for me but I'm sure the difficulty will vary depending in how good you are with essayswriting. You read awesome books and discuss everything in class. Almost every assignment you do is some form of essay, plus a weekly online exam that is very easy. Just show up and care, you'll do fine.

Great teacher! You must read the two assigned novels in order to do daily journey entries worth 5 pts. There is a research paper for each novel but he explains clearly what he wants. Also, you must take weekly online quizzes based on the novel and textbook. Overall, pay attention and do what he asks for and you will pass.

This is truly the most creative instructor I have had throughout my college career. He is enthusiastic, and engages people in a theatrical manner. I would have gladly taken the additional required courses with him but relocated to a closer college.

If you want to learn how to read and write at the college level, you should take his class. This class is not for slackers: two novels, two research papers, midterm, final, and online tests.

Mr. stoddart is very knowledgable and interesting. I find the class easy! you just have to go to class and do all of the assigned work. Like he said, every student has to turn in all the work to pass the class. Just dont be lazy and everything should be a breeze.

Stoddart is great, but tough! There is a lot of writing and reading in his classes. From a journal you are given entries to do every class. And on average 4 to 5 essays you have to write over the semester. His lectures are engaging however. And he really does know what he's talking about. So listen. And don't fall behind. I took Stoddart's online course. Face to face, I understand he is pretty funny and entertaining. I couldn't get into his face to face class, so I couldn't say. Anyway, he chose good novels and a great textbook. He is clear and precise with lecture notes, provides great examples with discussions and the research paper. I learned a lot!

I took Stoddart's 101 online course and then took him live for 102. This teacher was awesome. He is very organized and gives you clear examples of what he wants: templates, rubrics, bullet lists. I feel more confident with my writing after taking his class. I highly recommend this instructor.

I took Professor Stoddarts English 102 class many years ago. I felt the need to give him a review because I am now in Graduate school and still find myself still using the reading and writing skills he has taught me. There is A LOT of reading and writing involved in his class which means better skills for the future. Hes an awesome professor.

There are many mini essays on the novels he has your read. However, the novels are interesting, unlike others that are boring. You must follow his directions and do the writing. He's a fair grader. He offers extra credit. It's not an "easy" class, but for sure don't classify it as "hard."

Mr. Stoddart is my favorite teacher I have ever had in college or in high school. He does not give work for no reason and explains every assignment clearly. I am currently taking Prof. Stoddart online for Eng101. In beginning he was very critical while grading discussions, but his criticism definitely helped me to become a better writer. He does assign two 7pg essays on the 2 books read in the semester. Expect to type long discussions/responses. If you put in the effort you will get an A or B!

The class is very simple. He is well organized. For his class we used 2 books, siddhartha and great gatsby. Every week he will have you write a discussion for the chapters read & a weekly quiz of 10 question. Just make sure you check out the files in canvas, he attaches lectures for the chapters, and examples for the discussions. Great Teacher.

This class was super easy and beneficial. All the homework is, is reading a short story, and writing an essay type discussion post and responding to 2 classmates each week. Along with 2 five page essays due in the middle and the end of the class. Professor Stoddart gave very good feedback and graded very fairly.

I took English 101 back in 2016. I just wanted to come back and say because of Professor Stoddart. My writing has improved so much. He cares, is passionate, and wants you to succeed. I am done with school. But just wanted to come back and give credit where it is due.

Im so glad that I took Professor Stoddart for English101! Every week you get a discussion and quiz which is fairly moderate. The major grades throughout the whole class are just two research papers and he gives you enough time to start and finish. He even gives you an easy to follow rubric for discussions! Look, if you somehow cannot pass this class, I don't know. Prof. Stoddart helps students in any way he can with assignments and gives easy extra credit for people who need it. Good professor overall; writing is my personal hardest subject but I still got an A. Although frustrating in the moment he will push you to be a better writer by leading you in the right direction, rather than giving you the answer. Biggest issue is there was no time allotted for the midterm essay and we were given assignments over spring break.

I had Stoddart online and face to face. He is not an easy teacher, but he is very clear with expectations, explanations, and examples. At times, he is pretty funny, and I was never bored in his class. I feel confident with my writing after taking English 10 and 102 with him.

Lectures, assignments, and essays are organized with detailed criteria and expected due dates. He does not take any late work but does offer extra credit to make up for missed assignments. Easy class as long as you stay on top of your assignments. One quiz and one writing assignment per week. Two research papers for the whole semester.

If you're nervous about creative writing I would 100% recommend taking this professor's class. You will get full credit on every assignment if you just genuinely try, no matter how "bad" you think it is. I also asked for an extension twice and he granted it both times so he's very flexible and caring!

Took this class fall and winter both online. One quiz and one discussion post per week. Pretty easy follow the outline that he gives for each discussion which you just fill in with your points on the question. Extra credit at the end brought my grade up from an 89 to a 95. Got an A in both winter and fall. Overall nice professor, make sure to read.
