he's tough, but can be fun. he tells some funny stories and jokes to keep the class from being so boring that it would put his students to sleep.
wouldn't recommend him for Phy I, if u take him then stick in there ;)

Very Funny
Thorough, tough yet understanding.
If you have never taken chemistry before do not take Ker Fong Lee. His lectures are pointless, his jokes are stupid, and his test are bogus. There are 12 test and 2 labs, you keep 7 of your best test. Many people get too comfortable with dropping test.
Excellent and Knowledgeable Instructor Study! He has a sincere love for teaching and it shows! He is extremely talented and any health science major would be wise to take him! He will challenge you and you will know chem by the end!
Mr Lee is a vey good professor he takes time out , in or out of class, to help students if they dodont understand the topic.
very good and knowledgeable teacher.
His test are nothing like his class. he gets his tests off of other colleges physics department sites. It's not hard if you know how to find the test online.
Do the homework, work patches, and read the book!Excellent professor for a basic foundation in chemistry.
Great teacher! Intellegent, nice, and humorous. Teaches everything needed for the tests, and will give extra help if needed. High class retention rate, impossible to fail, getting an 'A' isnt tough to do.
This teacher jokes entirly too much.Does not teach half of what is on the test.Easy class if you are not taking a hogher chem.If you are here to learn go somewhere else.I have an A and am a straight A student. No help outside of class.
Avoid. Mr Lee is not the best physics teacher. He tells you to learn by just reading the text and doing the problems. This defeats the purpose of having an instructor. He seems bored and jaded. His pointless tangents last over 30 minutes. Take Mrs Lee at Kent or go to UF. Otherwise a nice guy.
Dr. Lee enjoys teaching. He uses his stories so you'll consider what you learn and see the chemistry in everything. The material is not easy so you must study. Dr. Lee is very intelligent and sees potential in everyone. I worked for my A. If you study, you'll do well, too.
Great teacher! Makes lots of jokes that keeps things interesting. Tests and labs are easy as long as you go to class and read the chapters.
things on test not covered in class. poor use of class time.
If he used more class time to teach than telling his boring jokes we could learn something. Isn't very clear on material and what's on the test isn't what you discuss in class. Don't take him if you want to actually learn something.
if you take this class do not focus on his lectures so much. As long as you read the book and do the problems throughout the chapter and in the back of the book you should be alright.
Worst Physics professor, and changed grading at very lastday. Never take him
No Comments
His jokes are horrible and most of what is on the test are not covered in the book. He is very vague during class discussions. A number of other people including myself were smart enough to bail out early. Do not take him!
he is uprecise and very unhelpful when he teaches. He jokes too much during class and goes on tangents. He cannot stick to the topics. The first test was supposed to be an "easy" one and it wasn't. You cannot study for this class.
DO NOT take him if you want to learn CHM. Unless you want to waste your time listening to his stupid jokes. The tests are not from the textbook or class notes. So what's the point of coming to class and reading the book. His lectures are unclear and there's NO study guide through out the semester. My advice would be "stay away from him"
This "teacher" is nothing more than a want-to-be Chemist who could NOT make it out in the real world for obvious reasons. He does a horrible job trying to teach and thinks that by telling stupid jokes its all "ok" You will LEARN NOTHING and will have to depend on yourself reading the chapters to do ok on the "perfomrmances"..aka TESTS
DON'T TAKE!!!!!!!!HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!
He is an alright professor, but you got to teach yourself the material in any university you attend. This is a very hard class and that means you got to work very hard. This is a weeding out course for Engineers and Physics majors
STAY CLEAR...he knows chemistry...just not good enough to be teaching it!!!!!!!
I don't know why eveyone is complaining, this is only high school chem. There isn't even any math involved like that of Gen Chem 1&2. If anything, you should be complaining about physics if you had him as a professor. Do all problems, including the work patches and read every chap. Easy A.
Dr. Lee is a nice person and really knows Chemistry. However, his way of teaching is not easy. You have to do a lot of work outside the class in order to pass his weekly performances.Yes, you must expect to take tests once or even twice per week. Also you must prepare your individual help-sheet for each performance . Take him if you like challange.
You people are seriously lazy ! You can drop 5 of 11 test grades, you are allowed a help sheet, and a periodic table for the test. The lab reports are minimal. If you don't want to learn, don't go to college... this professor is great ! QUIT WHINING !
He tells our class that we should understand because its "Junior High" work. Funny no one gets it..hints the grades? You ask if he can do a problem..and he replies with, yes I CAN. Without doing it for the class. Honestly, a horrible teacher, nice guy, but not so good at being helpful nor understanding. If I were you I would think twice. NO lie.
Do not take Prof. Lee's class!! To much time is wasted on stories and tangents that do not have anything to do with the subject. He will talk down to you if you ask questions on what he has already covered. He is not very willing to help a student succeed.
witty, charming, incompetent
great teacher, you have to do some work at home. he allows a help sheet in the test he does not want you to remember but rather understand. you are a llowed to drop 5 out of 11 weekely tests and his grading for labs is awsome. he is a funny person who likes to joke.you have to do a lot of work at home like reading the text book. he is a fair person
I'm taking that class now, and I like the teacher. No attendence ,you can use help-sheet , drop 5 tests, ...... Just Read the book ad you will be ok
horrible class. He could do better at his teaching. Tests are mainly coming for book. Read! Read! the chapters. Have test once or twice out of the week. Good thing is you can use a help sheet.
Is not helpful, is not clear, test every week, grading system is extremely unusual. Takes lab grades and mutiply them by .67 and adds that score to total test grades. Which brings your score down a point/letter grade. Use out of date book. Expects you to know already what you come to his class to learn. Unreasonable.
IN THIS CLASS YOU HAVE TO READ THE TEXTBOOK! IT HELPS TO DO THE PROBLEMS IN EACH OF THE CHAPTERS AS WELL. THERE'S A TEST EACH WEEK BUT IT'S USUALLY ONLY ON ONE CHAPTER. YOU ALSO GET TO USE A HELP SHEET. YOU DROP 5 TEST GRADES OUT OF 12 TESTS. ITS A LOT TO DO ON YOUR OWN BUT IF YOU READ AND DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS YOU SHOULD DO WELL.
He is serious when he says on the first day you have to do a lot of studying. Very little in the class is intuitive, so you have to practice to become clever at it. If you are on track to become an engineer you should be interested enough in the material to apply yourself and finish strongly. It's not impossible.
He is a very frustrating prof. He tells LOTS of stories. he does let you drop tests, but his tests are only 15 questions (tops!)Not an easy class. If you want the formulas and just want to take the class this is not for you, he is still stuck on the idea of trying to inspire scientists!!!! sweet man though, just frustrating.
The only way to really pass this class is to read the book. Every test that I read the book, I passed the tests, every test that I naively relied on the professors ability to teach, I failed.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER if you want to major in a chemistry. He drags out the point of what he's trying to teach and by the time he gets to the point, your mind is already gone. He's a nice guy but not a good teacher. His grading is weird. He doesn't curve on tests. He teaches and tests you on some stuff you should learn in later Chemistry's.
Interesting class. The teacher is really nice and funny, but not really my style of learning. Class is more book-based than hands-on learning. READ THE BOOK! If you dont understand, use the science center. Asking him just gets you more confused. :|
not very clear with explaining, the book helped me more than he did. rare that you will get the answer to the question you actually asked, tends to drift into other topics. allowed to make a help sheet for tests, but it seems that they never helped me! barely passed with a C (thankful to have passed!) STUDY STUDY STUDY!
This teacher truely loves what he does and it shows. Do the work and you will make the grade, don't do the work then don't complain.
Dr. Lee is wonderful! I learned much more than chemistry from this man. He's an extraordinary person and unlike other professors at FCCJ, has high expectations for his students. It is difficult material, but if you make an effort, you'll do fine. Dr. Lee rules! (and so do his jokes!)
Excellent Professor. His examples make difficult material easier to understand. He is the professor to take if you value learning over just getting a "check in the block" for your degree.
He's a NICE gut but: Hard class to begin with, teaching style is very diffent them what I'm use to. Hard to understand lets you make help sheet, not always helpful.Read the book and study lots.He thinks no one has to work over the weekend, the only thing we do is study for chem. Don't find class time to be very helpfull in passing test.
Wastes a lot of time in class telling stories instead of teaching. Do not follow lectures, instead read the book and do work patches and you will be ok. There is a test weekly so not a lot of time to prepare. No down time! He is nice but does not understand that some people actually have a family and a life outside of class. Good Luck!
i think he is cute!! kinda reminds me of mr. rogers. i think he is a great teacher.
NOT a good teacher. If I wanted to do all of the studying on my own I would have taken a hybrid class. Go out of your way to avoid this guy. Test are weekly so there isn't aton of comprehension going on and you don't use what youve already learned. He tells stories instead of teaching and will go on for 20 min about something that isnt on the test
DONT TAKE THIS GUY! Doesn't really even have a teaching style. Tells lots of stories and teaches things that wont be on the test. f you ask question he just tells you to read the book, and if you ask if he can do a problem, he says yes HE can. You get to use a cheat sheet but the test questions are so random it doesnt help. STAY AWAY IF YOU CAN
I took Dr. Lee twice and I wish I would have never stepped foot in his class, he makes this class extremly difficult.
Very good professor. His teaching is very different. He does tell alot of stories in class but he goes over material in the book that the typical student would have problems comprehending on their own. Face it people, this is college and professors are not here to spoon feed us.Read the book and do the work patches. You'll do ok. I got an A!!!
DON'T TAKE HIM!!!!!PLEASE FOR ME. FOR YOU!!!!! HE CHANGES AVOGANDRO'S NUMBER! HE MAKES UP HIS OWN CHEMISTRY LAWS AND CHANGES LAWS AND EQUATIONS THAT ARE IN THE BOOK! WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE! CAN'T BELIEVE I PASSED HIM!
This class requires lots of studying but is quite easy, with shortcuts Dr. Lee teaches. Dr. Lee is very nice and very willing to help if you get lost. On the tests, he allows a help sheet, calculator, and the periodic table. If you are lazy and expect an easy A, this is not the teacher for you. If you want to actually learn, Dr. Lee is the best.
He is an exellent teacher, I would take him again if I had the chance. To get an A all you have to do is do the work he tell you to do, that helped 100% to do well on the tests.
Dr. Lee is an intellegent and funny guy. He knows chemistry very well. When he says study at least 10 hours per week, he means it. Best advice- READ AHEAD OF HIM! (it's the only way youll understand the lectures.) If you dont read ahead or study the text book often, you will not pass.TAKE ADVANTAGE OF STUDY SHEETS!
Hard class with a professor who doesn't want to help his students suceed. Tends to drift off on topics other than Chemistry. Students are allowed to make a help sheet for the test. However, the help sheet never really helped in my opinion. I wish I would have never stepped foot in this man's class. Do not take Dr. Lee. He is AWFUL!
He is extremely smart and yes it is a hard class but what do you expect with chemistry...He teaches very well just make sure you study!!
I highly recommend Dr. Lee. He makes chemistry interesting and has a true passion for teaching it, especially if you put forth the effort. I studies about 15 hours a week, took my own notes, and answered book questions. I earned an A by studying hard and asking him questions. He drops 5 of 10 tests, and lets you use a HELP SHEET on all of them.
Regret to enroll in his class. Unclear.
I wish I had a way to tell you in just this little space how much you should never take this teacher. To hit the highlights, he is inconsistant, has random testing of 4 or less questions. Spends most of the class trying to tell jokes and then gets angry if you don't laugh. Refuses to answer questions and tells you to ask others. He is the worst!!!!
He was really a fun professor, if you have a great sense of humor, then you would love him, he not only teaches Chemistry with passion, but also he cracks jokes all the time. He is really knowledgable, and he will totally teach you everything that you need to know about chemistry!! He let you use help sheet on all of his tests. take him!
Dr. Lee should not be teaching on this level. He isn't helpful to struggling students, never directly answer you questions, always refer to other students, well other students aren't getting paid to teach me. He tries to be a comedian; however he failed !!! I wouldn't recommend him at all.
I don't understand how you couldn't enjoy this class, unless you just hate chemistry. Prof. Lee is really funny and although he does have his own way of explaining things, he made me understand chemistry like I never had before. He really does care about his students. But I guess this is a subject where you either get it or you don't.
Dr. Lee is a very funny teacher, during class he makes jokes about almost everything; explains very clearly what is expected of you for the class; best professor I have had; material is a little challenging but Dr. Lee knows how to teach and teaches you exactly what you need for the tests; attendance is not mandatory but it better to go anyway
I really liked this prof. He jokes a lot and tells a lot of stories. Sometimes his lectures don't seem relevant to the tests(called performances in his class). He let's you have a help-sheet on each test. But if you read the book and do the problems, you are guaranteed an A. What helped me in this class was the high school chemistry.
Dr. Lee is very funny and explains things well. He very clearly communicates what is expected of the student and if you follow his leading you can make an A by doing what he says to do. He is not very tolerant of people talking and not paying attention in his class. Take this man very seriously. He knows what he is talking about.
he helped me so much and not only was i able to understand chem in the end but i got a good grade too thank you dr lee
Highly intelligent, should be teaching advanced chem or doing research. Always verbally berates anyone who asks questions, tells us we should have learned everything in the 5th grade, says if this was a real university he wouldn't have to put up with such ignorance. Won't help those who are really putting in the effort, making an A but miserable!
Was the hardest professor I have ever had in my life.
This as the worst experience in my life in college. This man is by far the most insulting person I have ever known. he will insult you if you do not know the answers & forget about asking questions. says you are UNEDUCATED if you do not understand something. NO worthwhile labs either. I taught this class to myself with help from internet. SAD
One of the worst professors I know.
Dr. Lee is a great teacher. He got me interested in a career in Chemistry. The subject matter in Chemistry is very hard so if you aren't intelligent take something easy. He is very helpful and smart people will love his class.
He is NOT for the weak, like others said he is no joke. Cannot asking him questions, he will yell at you, insult you, call you names, make you feel feel very stupid, makes inappropriate jokes. Be his pet and kiss his rear end and he will love you in return.
This class is not for those unwilling to really think about chemistry. The information is not given on a silver platter, however those willing to learn do well.He allows a help sheet and a periodic table on his performances. It is imperative that you attend class because he likes to add more precision to constants that are typically rounded.
THE WORST PROFF I HAVE EVER SEEN/HAD IN MY COLLEGE LIFE.....PLEASE TAKE HIM AWAY...HE SHOULD NOT BE TEACHING ...!!!
If you take school seriously and pay attention to his class lectures and *how* to pass it, you will pass! He's very funny and helpful, however he tends to digress from the subject and loses his train of thought. I took him early in the morning - and I'm not a morning person, but I still made a good grade & laughed! He renewed my love for chemistry!
HE IS HORRIBLE. I make Straight A's and I BARELY got a C. He doesn't explain things. He constantly changes what he wants. Not clear at all and makes lame jokes. Sweet old man, but isn't very good at explaining things.
He is very sweet, and an absolute genius. However, I don't consider him to be a great teacher, most genius' aren't though. I do not recommend him if chemistry isn't your strong point. Sorry Dr. Lee :(
Prof Lee isn't for everyone, but I thought he did an amazing job. His Physics class was quite easy for me. He does a great job of relating the subject to everyday life and making it understandable. You really need to come to class every day because you will miss too much if you don't. He is very fair in his grading and is very approachable.
Professor Lee is a very intelligent man but not a good teacher. He has done it for so long that it appears that he thinks he has explained things when in reality he has passed over key points. Will not answer questions, and insults class daily on their I.Q. I read the book front to back to pass. You will leave class feeling bad. He should retire.
I think the way that he tells stories to help get a better understanding is good, he is always there to help, good office hours, very nice and friendly
Mr. Lee is a goofball and has me laughing through most of the class but somehow makes the simplest of things difficult. He can talk down to his students sometimes and has a hard time dumbing down the material to our level. My class with him was liberal arts physics but I would never in a million years take him for a higher level physics class.
DR. Ker-Fong Lee is one of the best proffesors at Florida State College at Jacksonville. He really knows his stuff and is too smart to be at FSCJ, he should be at M.I.T. If you are majoring for engineering, physics or chemistry do take this guy and you will really understand the world of natural sciences. I never had a teacher like him before.
Dr. Lee is one of the best teachers i have ever had. I hated science before i took his class. He made it so interesting and related it to real life situations. He's super funny, super nice, and he will help you out with concepts you dont understand. He drops your five lowest quiz grades so basically you have 5 times to mess up. Great guy. Take him
Homework questions are used for tests and he will go over them in class. You can use "help sheet" for tests, so write down examples of questions on help sheet using variables. If you have basic algebra knowledge you should be able to pass this class easily. He is very helpful.
There are three outstanding things about this professor:funny, smart and devoted to teaching. He loves teaching and seeing the students enjoy his class. However,if you are not the type who focus on the details, you may get upset. He's no joke when it comes to precision and following instruction. Overall, if you want to both learn and enjoy, take him.
I really recommend you take his class. He is a funny and smart guy. If u wanna both learn and enjoy, take it asap or else u gonna regret. SERIOUS. He loves his students and is supper easy on everything.
Easy compared to other CHM1025 professor(Compared w/ 5 other friends). Will spend a whole day on 1 concept to make sure everyone understands. Allows Help sheet during test, drops lowest test scoreS. ONLY 4 lab reports( I hate writing reports). HIGHLY Recommended for CHM1025, YOU WILL LEARN CHM THE EASY WAY. I am a LAZY student take my word for it.
DONT TAKE HIM! He's unclear. Doesn't specify what he wants on a test. Won't explain how to do HW problems. Will not answer questions and embarrasses the students who ask. Never comes to class early and refuses to stay behind if you have a question. All tests are 4-6 questions only. Doesn't grade fairly- marks off for one student but not for others.
Dr.Lee is awesome. Highly recommended!
Dr. Lee is a nice man, but his class operates in a very illogical manner. Tests sometimes contained material that was never reviewed, or barely touched on. Sig figs are used on the test, but not on homework. Students don’t get enough practice before being tested on them. Tests are 4 – 6 questions, so one wrong answer has a big impact on your grade.
You have to work for the grades in this class, but if you didn't you wouldn't feel you'd earned it. The labs were fun and relatively easy, and Dr. Lee gives lots of chances to make and fix mistakes. 5 of the first 10 test grades are dropped, as are some of the lab reports. He lets you use a "help sheet" with formulas and anything you want.
This class was relatively easy if you are science inclined. However, he does take his time going over the lectures and mas sure his students have a good understanding before moving on. If you can handle dry humor then take his class lol. Overall, he's a really nice and helpful professor!
Great Professor. Highly recommended. People would be foolish to withdraw his class at the end of the semester.
I have no idea why Dr.Lee has so many red faces, he's a great professor. He always made humorous jokes in class and broke down chemistry to everyone's understanding; he also drops 5 of your lower performance ( test ) grades, this is very helpful, I highly recommend Dr.Lee. I'm so sad that he's retiring soon, but I am so grateful that I had took him
I love Mr. Lee as a person, but as a professor not so much. He tells more stories and jokes than explaining the material. Expects you to already know this stuff but I thought this was intro but felt more like chem 1. 10 test but five lowest are dropped. The last three test can't be dropped so 13 test all together. Labs are fun but have to be 5 page
Great professor. I would definitely take him again. Wants everyone to understand and pass his course. Memorization will not pass this class. You must know the material.
