His classes are interesting, he cuts up alot in class to make you at ease and his tests are pretty easy as long as you study the matieral.

An easy class - memorize some terms and write a couple of easy 1-page papers. However, the class is a must-have because Mr. Lyde is passionate about his subject, and makes it fun and interesting. I hate history - and loved this class!

I've taken him for four different classes. Tests are extremely easy (you basically just have to memorize the defs. for the list of terms he gives you). It's not even necessary to go to class since all the terms are in the book, but he makes the lectures

I loved taking this class. I usually don't enjoy history, but he made the class extremely interesting. you don't even need to attend class. just get the definitions from the test, copy it out of the book and theres no way u can get lower than a B.

He is a great teacher, even though you may not have to attend class to pass the test, you want to because he makes it so intresting. He loves what he teaches and it shows through his lectures. I had him for two classes and I really enjoyed both of them.

A LITTLE LOUD AT TIMES. HE CAN BE PRETTY ABRUPT. BUT HE IS GOOD. VERY INTERESTING FACTS ESPECIALLY HIS KNOWLEDGE OF WARS.

He is a good guy and has good exams but man he can go off in left field some days.

He will talk about 100 different things in one lecture. Do not skip because if u miss more than 6 hours (5 classes) he takes a percentage off your final grade. But gives all the terms, just make flashcards and u'll do fine. U can do fill in blank or essay 1(100pts),2(50pts each),4(25 each), or 5(20)

My favorite teacher at San Jac. He keeps everything interesting and his lectures command attention. I figured a smart way to study for his tests, choose 3 or 4 key terms and study them well and write about them on the essay tests.i got an a on what seemed every test but i somehow came up with a B.

You have to do a lot of work to get your grade, but if you do the work and study you will get an a or b. He is very energetic and VERY SEXY AND UNMARRIED!!! HE IS A CATCH LADIES!!!

This guy is awesome, I took a horrible teacher for 1301 and was dredding 1302 he made history fun! He really gets into his lectures,he gives you a review sheet for each test. Very fair

Mr. Lyde is the BEST history teacher ever.He is as cool as the other side of the pillow!! I would recommend him to every student at San Jac. Test are easy if you study..you really don't have to go to class but you will miss a heck of a show if you don't..he keeps you laughing the whole time.

I'm grateful I took Dr, Lyde... the best history teacher ever... give you a list of terms and all you have to do is to read the book, then you'll surely get an A. No need to come to class, read and search online for the terms... can't be simpler

Lyde is funny, entertaining and very passionate about history. He teaches better than any history teacher I have ever had partly due to the fact that he actually goes to the places he teaches about. I HATED history until I took his class. It's easy and I have learned a lot and liked learning it.

He is quite a character;he makes his lectures pretty interesting and funny. His tests consists of terms that you will need definitions for, all you need is to study them and you will do great!

He is the most amazing professor I have ever had. He is funny, witty, and insightful. The class is so entertaining, and I have learned the TRUTH about what happened in World War II. I am taking him for every class he has, because he is the best professor around. Not only is he intelligent, he is sexy, he should be President. =)

Hey is a really cool teacher... he has really really good lectures that are very entertaining to me hehe!! he takes students over seas and i am considering on going to one of his trips he seems like he knows very well what he teaches and teaches it well!! i think his class is the BEST and i like stories he tells hahaha!!

really awsome professor, all i did was sleep in class and look the terms up on the internet. this dude is hilarious, tells stories, and sidetracks alot. he does take attendance (i use the time to sleep), and tests are fill in the blank. i should of taken him for hist 1, really cool dude

By far he is the best most interesting professor I have ever had. His perosnal stories are great. His lectures are so interesting I could not even takes notes. I sat there and listened the entire time. You can tell he puts alot of heart into what he does and.

Wow, he knows what he is talking about and is VERY into his lectures...his tests are 50 fill in the blank questions NO WORD BANK...so you must study.

This professor is very enthisiastic about his teaching topic. You can pass his class with just using the class notes. However you do need to learn the terms thoroughly because there will not be a word bank, otherwise you can not pass his class. You will be assign to read "Band of Brothers" and write an extra assignment. Overall, he's alright.

I was able to pass this class with a C and I never bought a book. Had I bought it, I know my grade would have been an A. Great lecturer, funny guy, and all around wonderful instructer. He will never throw anything at you he hasn't fully prepared you for. Definately an asset to his department and his school.

Lyde is a great teacher. He made me enjoy history, a subject I have never been especially fond of. I enjoyed all his lectures.

He is born to teach History. He loves it and it makes it more fun! The class was very interesting, knowledgable, and exiting. The test my sound hard out first but if you split up the information between your classmates it's less time consuming. Enjoyed this class.

his lectures are interesting but to pass the test all you have to do is look up the terms he gives you at the begining of the year.

I took him for both sections of history. He is an AWESOME teacher! His lectures are fun and interesting. He knows his stuff and enjoys teaching. His tests are easy if you study...this is college so you will have to sudy, he doesn't give you your A, but I had not trouble. GREAT TEACHER and GREAT CLASS!!!!

Very entertaining instructor and sometimes made me interested in History. His tests are all fill in the blank, but not hard, just a lot of memorization. ONLY 4 grades!!

This is a great and entertaining class. It's very easy, I received an A and took maybe 3 pages of notes all semester. I suggest going to all the classes and just listening to him, you don't even need to take notes. On the 2 major exams choose to do the essay exams. You can write about 2 of the 70 possible terms and should receive an A on the tests.

great class. he's very enthusiastic and really wants you to learn. talks more that lectures. has interesting stories. study the lists he gives you, and read the outside reader. I got an easy B without ever cracking the book.

Pretty easy and very entertaining class! I HATE history but my interest level in the class was 100%!

His class was great. kind of hard to take notes cuz he talks more than he follows a specific outline. i never had to use the book and i didn't even read the outside reader. just study the lists he gives you and you'll do fine. i got a B easily. he's really sweet and has great stories.

Prof Lyde is amazing! I totally hated history and thought it was boring.He makes History really interesting and he has the best stories! He loves talking to his students and gives lots of extra credit and its fun to do. i always looked forward to going to class and just sit in class and stare cause he is a hottie :)

He is intersting and very good professor.It is very good to study history with him especially World War II. He shows movies about the war. His tests are easy if you study his terms.

I am a real student and I am not exaggerating when I call him the best teacher I have ever had.He gives extra credit to visit historical places(like a historical bar!)he takes annual trips with his students to teach you about history(party with your teacher in europe)And his is very funny and engaging.Strong passion for history that is contagious

Lyde is great! His tests are based upon a list of terms he gives you the first few days of the semester, and you can choose either a multiple-choice or essay format for your midterm and final--whichever you're more comfortable with. His lectures aren't actually necessary to ace the class, but you'll go anyway because he's just that interesting!

Do urself a favor, take this guy. I see why people call him a "SanJac Legend". His passion for teaching &d history shows. PLENTY of chances for extra credit, almost 50 points worth. Tests are fill in the blank BUT you don't get a word bank to choose from, so be sure to know the terms which come from the book/lecture. I made an A.

Profesor Lyde's passion for history shows in his teaching. This class is the only class I've taken that I have gone to just to get a laugh. His test are fill in the blank, but put all your terms on notecards, go over them a few times, and you make an A. And he may be in his 50s, but he is still hot! He gets extra points just for being sexy!

I LOVED this guy. He knows a ridiculous amount about everything he teaches. The first few months I didnt like him until I realized how strait forward his tests are. you dont really need to take any notes to pass, just study the vocab list well.He is really fun, and he seriously lives and breaths history. Take him, I got a 104 in that class.

This guy is an awesome professor!! He knows a lot about history but the bad thing is that its only 4 grades. One's a critique paper, the other two are two tests over lecture vocabulary or two essays. The other is an outside reader exam(hard if you don't read it!!) Hint: do the essays and you'll get an A

I love Professor Lyde. He is probably the funniest teacher I have had thus far at San Jac. He knows a lot about what he teaches. He has interviewed tons of people about history so he has some great stories to share. The tests are so freaking easy and you can start studying at the beginning of the semester. Do yourself a favor...take this class. :]

Fantastic teacher. My class is at 8:30 am but I don't ever miss it to sleep because he is such a good teacher. He is funny and his main goal is to get you interested in history and he definitely succeeds. His tests are fill in the blank or essay (essay is easier) and you can get up to 10 points extra credit by going to museums. Take this teacher!

He is very intelligent and has interesting stories about history. You do need to be serious about your work from day one though. You only get 4 grades. Article critique, two exams (essay or fill in the blank (you choose)) and an exam over either the book Seabiscuit or Band of Brothers. Just put some effort and you'll do fine. Extra credit available

Great teacher, He made me love history all over again. I would take him again if he only taught the before 1877 - 1301. If you you get the chance take him.

He is an amazing professor! Pay attention in class and you should be able to do the two essay exams with no problem. You have to read one outside book which is actually pretty interesting and you have to do an article analysis. Most interesting class EVER!

ALL very easy. he does take role. towards the end he gets lazy, but he picks his lazy days. He's very interesting to listen to. I enjoyed his class even at 1pm.

Wonderful professor with great stories to tell. He doesn't need the book because he knows it all by heart. I learned more in this class than I have in all the years of my schooling. I moved away, but would move back JUST to take his class! Very educated, informative and wonderful man.

TAKE THIS CLASS!! Mr. Lyde is AMAZING! I used to hate this history before this class. He knows SO much and won't just lecture to you he will make things interesting. A Mid-Term, Final, Article Critique, & Outside Reading assignment with test and that's it! He also gives lots of opportunities for extra credit! TAKE HIM! you won't regret it!

Only 4 grades for the class. 2 vocal terms, a paper, and an outside reading test. Gives ALOT of extra credit opportunity. He is very funny and keeps class interesting with all his stories. i definitely recommend him, very easy and very interesting class.

Professor Lyde was the absolute best history teacher I have ever had. He made history fun and interesting for me. He is constantly cracking jokes and you are guaranteed not to fall asleep

His class was very interesting. I enjoyed listening to his stories, he knows a lot. He's pretty funny too and his exams are either an essay or fill in the blank. I did not use the text book at all. The fill in the blanks can be challenging, but if you studied the terms he gives you, you will be okay. I wish I could take him again. :)

He is a good teacher I took him and loved the class and the way he teaches it, makes you Interested in history.

Took this professor for spring, lots of reading but more like skimming through the book for key terms. Lets you make up mid term which many professor does not, along with class make up for attendance. one paper assignment, and three exams which are mid-terms, outside reading exam, and the finals. Extra credit is optional but its educational as well

This man is the BEST history lecturer ever. Very clear, informative and interesting lectures that make the time fly by. unfortunately his grading is ridiculous. He does not provide word banks for test. Also it is ridiculous when you read the reading material TWICE and still fail the exam. Be prepared to study in this class.

This class is super easy if you know what you're doing. He gives you everything you need for all the tests on the first day of class. He only has 4 grades and gives a bunch of extra credit. (take advantage of the extra credit)!!!

Amazing! Only 4 major grades. You have to try to not pass his class to fail. MAJOR EXTRA CREDIT!!!!! Hilarious and can be serious lectures that are either his personal stories or those he has interviewed himself. Very passionate about his job. If you have a problem with cursing, do not take: but it is funny and not over excessive. Would take again.

I honestly don't know what the other people are complaining about, clearly they have never taken a truly hard class. "He doesn't give a word bank" LOL. If you're looking for a great class that you'll learn a lot in and also boost your GPA, take this. You don't need the textbook. He's a war expert so that's a big plus. He makes history come alive

BEST teacher by far! His lectures are very intriguing, even for those who don't like history. He puts many details and stories into his lectures that you would never get from a textbook, he really does his research and enjoys teaching. Gives plenty of extra credit. Took Hist 1302 last summer with K. Lyde at San Jac and am currently enrolled at UHCL, and I have never had a better history teacher than him. What a fun class, even if you don't like history, he will make you laugh your butt off. Tests are straightforward, you should pass with ease, and should even get a B by going to class. Tons of extra credit A+

Great teacher who is funny and offers loads of extra credit. To make something other than an A in this class means your not ready for college. Test are pretty straight forward however he doesn't give you a word bank and its fill in the blank. Study at least the night before and you'll make at least a B. With the extra credit, do it, it'll save you

Took Mr. Lyde for Hist1302. Very intelligent and enthusiastic professor. Passionate about history and it shows. Expect to put in effort to get the most from his class. His course taught me a lot and really enriched my education. Not often do we students stumble across great professors, so seize the opportunity! Loved him.

He really cares for his students success and is very passionate about his subject. He does curse quite often, but never towards anyone. I would ABSOLUTLY take him again.
