Kerri is nice, seems genuinely interested. I know its her first time teaching this course but she did a pretty good job, basically teaching right out of the textbook so if your notes are a bit funny the text will tell you everything. Her test was too long but that will improve im sure. She lets us submit questions for her exams which is cool.
A extremely hard course at first if you do not study alot. Also the class if half taught by Dr.Finlay and Weger. They are straight forward but material is very hard no multiple choice and Just short answer questions that are not easy. But, Dr. Finlay is cool just work realy hard and then harder and you be fine.
Boring!!!!!!!!!!!!! she is fine though..an easy class she uses powerpoint for her lecture's notes so you dont have to be there....if you know her notes you will be fine....
She is super nice and very helpful.
Horrible prof.. she made no sense most of the time and if you had a question she would just read right from what she had just wrote. tests were horrible, focused on things she only mentioned once or twice in the year
Very nice and very clear. She is trying very hard to become a good prof quickly, and always was interested in our feedback. Midterm was too long, but the final exam was the perfect length. I had a great time and learned a lot.
Had her for the 2nd half of my BIO 100 class, did not like her teaching style at all.. Got very bored with her and she gave extremely difficult questions on the final about stuff we covered in class for 5 seconds. Do not recommend taking her if possible, she's bearable at least tho.
I had her for Bio 100 and currently Bio 101 and I think shes pretty good. She expects you to know all the notes and is pretty straight forward in telling what will not be asked of you on the tests. Her exams are kinda tough and long so make sure you pick up on all the hints she drops. Oh and you dont really need a text book.
This prof is extremely boring in her lectures and just types stuff onto her power point without really explaining it. Seems like she knows her stuff but is not at all interesting about it. Dont go to class unless its for a test cause she just posts the notes anyways.
Very good proff, I liked her alot. She is very straight forward and easy to understand. Tests can be tough if you don't "understand" the material and have just memorized it. She posts her notes but I advise going to class or you will miss a lot. Will definitely take another class from her.
Brutal prof. Her lectures are not worth going to because all she does is read off the slides. Her tests are near impossible, studying barely helps because you won't understand what she is asking anyways. Avoid her classes at all costs.
Lecturing style was a bit dry (hard to gauge key concepts over fluff material) but quite clear. Tests are quite doable.Be sure to know all concepts discussed even if very little time was dedicated to it. I can recall at least one or two questions sniped from information not overly emphasized in lecture. Tests grasp of concepts over regurgitation.
Lecturing style improved over fall 2009 Biol 265 class. Highlights key ideas and more cues on what you will be tested on for exams.Emphasis on understanding concepts over regurgitation on exams. Survey style of class makes it hard to get interested in the material. Work load reasonable, easy to get 80s in class with moderate effort for a 200 level.
Okay prof, understandable, clear and concise. If you are to take a class from her make sure you have the time to study all of the material. Her midterms and final can get tricky. (focus on applying your knowledge to the bigger picture) She is very organized with presenting the knowledge. The class is not "easy marks" but good marks can be achieved.
For this class you pretty much study from her slides. Her tests are brutal. You don't know what to expect and she doesn't weigh the questions properly. Sometimes she's hard to understand in class and on tests because she expects you to know every little detail. She is a very nice person, but she isn't a good teacher.
Class wasn't terrible, if you actually pay attention and study hard then it is easy to do well. Her exams are either too easy or too hard, but that is understandable due to it being her first year teaching. Funny prof, and will take time to explain if asked. Overall, good prof!
if your trying to get a good mark DO NOT TAKE HER, its not cuz ur an unresilient student its about being in her class while she is still learning to be fair. she wonnt give you help the way you want either, trying to do the whole learn youself thing which is fine if she was actually fair. my grad school tutor coulnt answer her questions save urself
Love her! Her classes are extremely organized, and her tests come directly from her notes. If you think she is hard, you simply just aren't studying enough. Yes, you have to study a little bit in university. Highly recommended.
Coming to her class is essentially a waste of time. However, being mandatory, she likes to give out questions in the middle of class that are worth marks. Not that you have time to think during the lecture, being that she moves a million miles a minute. Only thing ive gained from her lectures is a sore wrist goin in to my next class.
just read the textbook, it is a far better, clearer teacher. Also a whole lot more organized, her note jump around all over
Gives notes via slideshow presentation. Organized, I guess but she jumps back and forth. Hard to tell what's important to know for exams. Do not take her if you don't have to!
Notes really jumped around and she moved really fast. Defnitely take a laptop or print out her notes. The textbook is an absolute waste of time!
You need to be prepared to teach yourself. The textbook comes in handy because you won't learn anything from her lectures. Her tests are extremely hard -they are wordy multiple choice Q's with wordy answers. It does not show that you understand the material. It more so shows whether you caught her trying to trick you . Avoid her if you can.
Great prof, i love Bio so I had lots of fub in the class. tests are easy if you look over notes. The lab is a little dry though. If you have taken Bio 30 lots of material shouldnt be new, though be prepared to teach yourself if you have not done Bio 30. Loved her, she used an iClicker in class that was awesome. Taking her for Bio 101 next semester.
She is very straight forward and her tests were not difficult. Just study and you should be fine. You may not even need a textbook because her notes have all the important stuff. Great prof!
I worked very hard at this class and only got 77. I recommend that if you take this class, you are willing to dedicate a lot of hours to teaching yourself the material. If you don't, good luck passing. Finlay is a decent prof however, and I am willing to take from her one more time in Bio 101.
Shes the classic "I'm here to read my notes" prof. Sure her notes are pretty helpful but they are so many with so much information and she doesnt narrow it down at all. And yes her tests are extremely difficult. You may think you did great on an exam but because of the way she words her questions it becomes extremely hard. Good luck..

Very helpful & fun and keeps students in mind. iClickers are useful in class, text not used much but a great resource. Take Bio 30 first unless you want to teach yourself most of the course (lots of details building on Bio 30 content). Tests medium-hard, pay attention to small details from class! No assignments but labs are terrible! Overall good.
Must know EVERY little detail for tests. Must know and understand very thouroughly... test questions often tricky. Will make 2nd midterm very difficult if 1st midterm has high class average. Must work hard and be good at remembering details. Nice enough person... but doensn't know her stuff that thouroughly.
It was a hard class, must know all details, but I came to university to learn... so that is expected. She is doing her best! She is nice, trying to have some fun with the class but everyone is just too busy being grumpy about their bad grades due to laziness.
Horrible. I would never take another class with her, got stuck taking 2 with her. She just reads off her notes, never explains anything, exams are hard, I studied my butt off for this class and still did poorly. Avoid.
Loved her class! It can get boring, but she is clear with what she wants on the midterms. She takes everything from her notes. If you work hard, you will get the grades to reflect it.
She was probably the worst prof I've ever had. She would read the notes off her ppt and never explain anything. So when it came time to study you had notes that didn't really say anything. Very difficult class, have Wagner now. Going a whole lot better this time.
Kerri is an awesome professor who was extremely helpful when I went to see her for help. Yeah, she may read off of her power points, but I find that she gives good explanations and if you do study for her tests, you WILL do well. I also found that memorizing her lectures was the best way to prepare for tests. Keep it up, Kerri!
Helpful, clear and gets to the point. Tests are hard but fair and she gives a great outline of what to expect.
Great Teacher
Overall a great teacher. All lercture info was made easily accessible. She tried to incorporate humour into a dull class on occasion! Tests were challenging, but she made it clear what you had to study. If you put in work in this class you will get a good mark.I would have her again as a prof anyday!
Awesome! Study her notes and you'll be fine. She tells you what to focus on for exams, and she's not one for tricks. She also throws in opportunities to get bonus marks.
Nice teacher. Easy test. Give examples. Helpful. I recommend it.
Midterms are very difficult, and came as a huge surprise. The multiple choice questions were extremely unfair
Actually a pretty easy class, textbook not needed, just powerpoint slides.
Dr. Finlay is a great professor. Attendance is mandatory since all notes provided in class are not posted online. Very available and helpful outside of class. Midterms and final are tricky (particularly multiple choice), so you have to work hard for an A; her multiple choice questions are very similar to those found in the textbook.
Dr. Kerri is a good prof. Very helpful at all times. she simplified the materials: very helpful, could be difficult to understand but review it and it will be ok. Beware of multiple choice! Tricky. Be preape on exams even though it's multiple choice. If u study, I'm sure u'll be fine. Interesting class, could be boring based on level of interest.
I love Kerri, she is always making the class more interesting.
Kerri was by far the best professor I've ever had in my university career. She writes directly on her slides which made it easy to follow and she keep things simple and easy to understand. I learned so much in her class and thoroughly enjoyed attending her lectures. I can now say Anatomy and Physiology is my passion. She does not throw curve balls!
Great professor! She really has a talent in engaging students during her lectures. Really enjoyed her "filling in the blanks" style during lectures to help walk students through the content! Nothing bad to say about this proff.
Kerri is a great Prof! Her tests are very straight forward, if you attend her lectures and study, you will do great in her class! She is very helpful, and is good at breaking things down!
Kerri is a wonderful professor. She walks you through the material during lectures and provides a good outline for tests. Tests are quite easy to study for. Attend lecture and do some readings and you will do fine in her class.
I liked this prof. Fairly straightforward with her notes and understood them well. Tests were pretty good, as long as you actually try and make the effort to study. But sometimes, all you really need are her notes. She's nice too, sometimes tries to make jokes. Not super exciting, but not too boring either.
Loved her class-- would take anything else from her! Lectures were straightforward, and her twist on the "post the powerpoints" thing was very engaging! I recommend her above any other prof in the department.
Kerri was a fantastic prof! The notes were very straightforward and organized. I didn't open my textbook once. She always made sure to review difficult material. Easy to study but her midterms are tricky
She was ver helpful and clear. She put her main focus on material that we needed to know and not the extra.
Meh. Pretty good but the material isn't the most fun. Lots of memorizing but she did show cool youtube videos unless there was an ad first in which case she just gave up.
Was ok for Bio 101, but had a blast taking 265 from her this term. Very intelligent and passionate about biology. Her tests are hard, but by this point her comprehensive style is welcomed! We laughed so much and she was always open to talk about anything we had questions about
Clear, concise, very helpful. Gave lots of examples and very open to questions.
Great Prof, keeps students interested in the subject. Is always ready to crack a joke (even at herself) ALWAYS available to answer questions, emails, or extra help. I would definitely recommend her to other students! She is great!
Absolutely useless professor. I am above an 80% in all my other courses, but this course was just brutal. The average was 63% after the final.
Excellent prof, class was very straight forward. Keri practically writes what you need to know on the PPT for you. Tests are fair and concise.
Dr Finlay definitely saves Bio 101 after Stav. Her exam questions are similar to textbook questions so attempt those. Her short-answer questions are fantastic. She teaches straight from the textbook, but could be worse. Bio 101 is not as good as 100, but try to like it and it will make memorization easier. Laptop is more convenient for notes in 101
Great class to take with Finlay. Notes were given as slides and were very clear. She also told us exactly what to expect on the exam. Did not need textbook at all.
Kerri was an excellent prof, really enjoyed her class.
Kerri is a very initiative professor, her lectures are to the point and pertinent, extra importation only acts to better understand the material. I hope to have her for future classes.
Kerri was okay. Her lectures were a little bland and it was hard to hear her. And her midterm was super hard. Would not recommend her.
Kerri is such a sweetheart. She can be hard to hear at the back of the classroom. She is quite passionate about biology, esp. strange or odd phenomenonsanimals. Many of her questions came from the textbook. Loads of memorization- her short answer really made you think and put concepts together that you have learned. Would take from her again
Really awesome prof. Her midterm can get a bit long but that is because the course is really content heavy with a lot of memorization. Her questions are about relating topics to one another. She is passionate about her field and has a really awesome sense of style! Would take her again.
She gave our class lots of videos, websites, and used si to help us with the material. She is very easy to communicate with too!
She is such a sweetheart! Gets very excited about the content and is happy to clarify if you don't understand. Exams weren't terribly long but do make up most of your grade (90%). Gave us "terms to know" for each unit which made studying A LOT easier. Provided SI, extra supplementary videos and the class was recorded. Would definitely take again!
I took this class via video communication. Kerri was very delightful. You can tell she loves her job and tries to make the class engaging and interesting. She made herself very available through online forums and emails. Everything was covered thoroughly in class and I barely opened my textbook. I would highly recommend taking a class from her.
Great girl
Kerri is an awesome prof who knows how to make her lectures engaging. She also knows how to simplify even the most complicated aspects of the anatomy. And if you still don't understand after her lecture, she offers a lot of supplemental instruction. She actually cares about the students and wants them to succeed.
Kerri does a great job of simplifying anatomy. Great foundational course.
Kerri is an amazing professor. She cares about her students and wants them to do well. However, she also expects her students to know the material. During lectures, you only need to write down what she writes on the slides. Also, I only used the textbook for the assignments. For tests, I studied the powerpoint slides and did very well in the class
Just talked about the same things over and over again make for a super boring class
A & P isn't the easiest subject to teach I'd say, but Kerri does it in an awesome way! Print off the slides before class and write as she writes. Textbook is informative and provides information. Terms to know is basically what is tested. Her tests are hard though, but what can you expect for A&P :)
Kerri's lectures are interesting and engaging. She is intelligent, humorous and more than willing to answer questions both during and after class. Exams only. The course has a lot of material to learn, and lots of terms that flat out need to be memorized, but Kerri teaches the material very well. Loved her class -amazing prof and a great person!
kerri is an awesome prof. She gives you "key terms" to study and all I did was do all of her key terms and know them inside and out and I got a 90% in the class. You have to take the time to study the terms lots but you will do just fine if you do practice questions given and really know your key terms!
She said studying off her PowerPoint slides was enough to get you 90% in the class. Make sure you memorize most of her slides though, she might test on something small that she downplayed the importance. Going into the tests, I really never had a clue what we could possibly be tested on.
A&P is a hard class but Kerri makes it enjoyable! She often made Kahoots which were fun to participate in and she was always willing to answer questions during the lecture or outside of class. I rarely used the textbook and mainly used notes from class and did fine!! Overall, if you put in the work, you will do fine.
Kerri was an enjoyable professor and loves what she teaches but there is so much information in the class which makes it difficult to stay focused the entire lecture. You would probably have to study for 3 hours after each lecture to make sure you get a really great mark. Definitely do not skip class.
As always, Kerri is an absolute pleasure to work with!
Kerri is an amazing prof, hands down. If she feels she didnt cover something good enough , she goes back and reviews it. She is constantly asking if we understand the material and doesnt hesitate to stop and explain something more in depth. She made lectures fun & was always cracking jokes. Study lots , do your reading and you will be fine. 10/10
Go to class and get the notes and you will be fine.
Very talented teacher. Explains everything very thoroughly, provides tons of examples, and tons of outside sources to help you succeed in the class. Truly cares about the subject and the students success in it.
Very open with what will need to be studied for the tests which you don't get a lot of in uni.
Kerri is honestly the most genuine person you will ever meet. Super straight forward and honest about what is expected.
Lectures got off topic at times because of students random questions but she always made sure to give an answer. Gives lots of feedback and practice. very understanding, especially with online learning. Tests were focused on textbook material so textbook use was essential in this course. I enjoyed the class even tho it took up a lot of time.
Lots of things to be graded on which is important in this class, as it's challenging and there's a lot of material. She always makes sure to answer your question in class, and if she can't she will post it on the class forum when she knows it. Classes were enjoyable, and for the second time taking this class (first at U of R) I really enjoyed it!
She is the best. My fav prof. She is very straightforward and is very reasonable with things. I love her.
Kerri was a great prof and was very interested in anatomy and taught it very well. Quiz once a week, midterm, final, paper and group project. All pretty simple if you attend class and read the textbook. Kerri is very willing to help and answers everyones questions. Lectures were interesting and interactive. Great prof!
Kerri is fantastic! The material is tough, but she does what she cant to make the class flow as smooth as possible. She gets marks back incredible fast. I wish she taught more biology courses in nursing because I would take another class with her in a heartbeat.
I had absolutely no issues with this class. The setup, structure, and assistance and help was all excellent. The tests never felt overly demanding, you just need to know the material and study. The class was very straight forward. Finlay is also a very caring individual who will answer all sorts of questions and have fun in her lectures.
Kerri is definitely one of the best profs I will ever have. She is extremely understanding of the current situation with the pandemic and did her best to make her class as clear and problem-free as possible. She is easy to get a hold of with an email. I finished her class with the highest grade out of all my other classes. She is amazing!!
Dr. Finlay's class was amazing. Testing every week was a good way to keep the information set in my brain, she was very helpful, her lectures very interesting, and I highly recommend that she teaches more anatomy classes. I enjoyed both the group and solo projects. I thoroughly enjoyed this class! Would have enjoyed it more had it not been online!
she is an amazing prof, lectures are interesting.
Kerri is a very good prof, who knows what she's talking about. She explains things VERY well, and accepts feedback well and takes your input into consideration. Her exams we're a little on the tougher side, but if you know the material it isn't something to stress too much about. Great prof.
The online McGraw Hill connect form for quizzes leaves so much room for error when marking the quiz
Kerri is AMAZING! Yes, this course is tough because there is so much information to know but she is by far one of the fairest professors I have ever had. She provides students with supplementary learning materials and "terms to know" which really help with exams and quizzes. As long as you don't procrastinate, you will do well in this class.
Her midterms and finals are quite different than the quizzes we get every week on McGraw Hill Connect. 3 hour lectures make it very difficult to keep up. Tried reaching out to her once about study tips or how I can boost my grade, and she told me to google different ones. Not great.
Came back after taking BIO 111 and had to say that Kerri had to be one of my favourite professors. She was hilarious, cared about her students and how we are currently doing in the class. I can tell she is very passionate about biology. Exams were hard but it was a hard course regardless, very understanding prof too!
no outlines given for exams, or advice on what to focus on.
Super kind and caring prof who wants her students to succeed. Allowed us to take reference sheet into midterm and final, and gave study sheets as well as practice questions to prepare. Fun lectures too.
She knows her stuff but she is hard on the exams! She makes hard exams and any amount of answering would not satisfy her. U might end up panicking in the exam. She does not really seem to care for her students.
She makes an easy class very hard, you could be getting 90s, but end up with 70s. She does not give exam guide or outline and practice questions are nowhere near the exam.
