she is soo awesome! i loved having her as my instructor. she's funny, smart, and helps you feel more comfortable with speech. take her when you have to take Speech!!!

I have to say she changed my mind about public spekaing and having to give speeches. She wont take being disrespectful to people giving speeches, her pet peev. But I will say she is one of the best teachers I have ever had, all you have to do is ask for help and she is there to walk you through it, she rocks.... you will like her i promise

She is one of the best teachers I have ever had, she truly cares about her students & wants everyone to succeed. She lays down the law but does it to help us, not to be mean or a bad teacher. She made me feel like I could not only give these speeches, but also that if I trust and believe in myself I can do anything. Take her class you wont ne sorry

Professor Hughes rocks... she is one of the best teachers I have ever had...I learned more from her then any other teacher at CCC. She by far is my fav teacher and will never forget everything she taught me. Take her for Speech - you wont be sorry.

She is a hip young teacher, very cute and so much fun. She knows her stuff and will support you all the way through class... if I was 15 years older, WOW. She is the best teacher I have ever had and had the biggest crush on her.

Kerrie, to me, is a great teacher and simply wants each student to succeed. She makes the speech part a lot more simple and creates a safe environment to be in. I HATE speeches, but this class was bearable and the way she taught to just trust yourself up there, it was really good to learn. I'm more confident because of this class.

Kerrie Hughes Is by far one of the most amazing people I have ever met, not only as a professor,a person. SHe makes the class fun and inviting as well as making it a safe place for everyone in the class. I had fear when entering her class and can truely say that I am no longer afraid of public speaking.I tell everyone to take her class, no regrets.

I do not like that attendance is mandatory, this isn't high school. And the in class projects are useless.But,I enjoyed the course.

Great teacher. Makes you step out of your box. Sometimes have to do things that may be uncomfortable at first but in the end are a great learning experience. Helped me be more confident in public speaking not only in school but in my personal life. Kerrie creates an environment that requires a sense of respect within everyone in the class.

I loved this class! It was not necessary for my major, but I have an interest in communications and this was an exceptional class! I learned a lot. If you did assignments you got points. I didn't know how she would grade in the beginning and she kinda scared me. but I loved her! Not stressful, upbeat, realistic! TAKE IT!!

Rough around the edges but very nice when you get to know her. She doesn't put up with non-sense, but is also fun.

Kerrie is a crazy professor that loves to have fun and you can tell she loves what she does. I absolutely adored Kerrie, she was extremely helpful during the entire term and she obviously loves her job. She can seem a little harsh at first but thats only because she expects you to act like adults and take initiative for your own education. Love this lady!

Prof. Hughes is one of those teachers who you need to take. She pushes you to think and get past your fears. She demands respect and will 100% give it back. She loves what she does, be active and take part and you will be just fine. It is about you learning not her just talking. I give her an A in all the classes I have taken from her (5 total)

I wish all my teachers at CCC taught like Miss Kerrie does. She gets you to push yourself further than you ever thought you could. She knows her stuff and requires you to come to class prepared and ready to engage. I would 100% take other classes this professor teaches. Take her classes, YOU WONT BE SORRY!

Miss Kerrie is one of the best professors at CCC. She will take you out of your comfort zone but you will walk away with loads of information that will help you in every part of your life. Take her you wont be sorry. I wish all my teachers where as cool as her.

Kerrie is scary at first but if you work one on one she is very helpful. She's usually mean to people. She doesn't waste time sugar coating things and she's a very responsible teacher. However, I just really got tired of the harshness of the grading on little details. It made me focus on everything except actually improving public speaking.

Kerrie is a great instructor for this class. She seems to be a little harsh, but that's because the class doesn't LISTEN to her. If you want to improve your public speaking skills, this class is perfect for you - she will push you. The class is hard (can be stressful when talking infront of the class) but you learn a lot. LISTEN to her!

Kerri is great teacher! Her class is hard but you will learn lots! I hated public speaking, she made it fun and worked me through my fear! She is also a hottie!

She comes across harsh, but underneath you know she wants you to do well. Kind of a lose cannon. Grades small details harshly, so you spend more time on your draft then actually practicing your speech.

I really enjoyed the class, Kerrie is kind of a "straight shooter" but has a lot of underlying compassion. She will get you through this class if you want to!

Kerrie is a little gruff at times but she only does it to get the best out of you. she is a good teacher and makes the class as fun as she can. do not get intimidated by her first day speech.

Kerri is a excellent teacher. I've had her for several classes and expect to have her for several more. She pushes you to do your best and is always more than willing to help her students.

She WILL knitpick every little thing you do, which gets annoying because most of that is dealing with the writing part, not actual speaking. When shes having a bad day, you're screwed, she will take it out on not just you, but the entire class; you wont even have had to have done anything.

Kerrie made an intimidating class fun and memorable. I had a wicked hard term due to health issues, and she worked with me so I could finish the class. She is probably one of my most favorite instructors on the campus. Can't say enough good. She is a no BS teacher and she expects your best, but you will walk out of the class a better speaker.

Kerrie is one of the best instructors that I've ever had! She doesn't put up with anyone's crap and will tell you to leave if you're being disrespectful. Sure, she's a little rough around the edges and loud and in your face, but underneath that is a sweet woman that want to help you succeed. I am a better speaker now thanks to her.

Great teacher. Actually became friends on facebook. Seems strict at first, but then she's hilarious. Harder grader then some speech teachers, but you get used to her style of grading and then it become easy

This is my second class with Kerrie and she is wonderful. If you are a very sensitive person and take things personally, then you shouldn't take her. She gives her all to people who care and try their hardest. If that's not you then shes not for you!

Kerrie is an awesome professor. If you come to class, prepared, and to work, she will be your best friend. Some consider her rude. That is not the case. It is probably something that you did!!She is great at giving feedback and encouraging you. She grades fairly. She don't stand for excuses, she has time for students who work like her.

She is tough but if your prepared you will do just fine. She really wants you to learn and understand the importance of communication.

Kerrie is an amazing teacher. She's fair in her grading and is always there to help those who ask. She's very clear about what she expects from her students from the first day of class and holds everybody to high standards. As long as you do your work and actually try in her class, you should be able to pass the her class.

I really enjoyed taking her class. I'm not a shy person and I don't mind giving speeches so the class wasn't difficult for me. I love her attitude, if you're respectful she'll be respectful to you. The only problem I had was how she graded. Very knit picky. Oh, and don't buy the book. Seriously. I didn't and I still got an A in the class.

I will remember what Kerrie taught me, for the rest of my life. Before COMM111 I took communication for granted, Kerrie teaches you to respect it and make it work for YOU the best way possible. She gets side tracked sometimes, and a little off topic. However, I feel she does it intentionally to cut the tension of speech giving. GREAT TEACHER.

Kerrie is an amazing teacher! She is very clear and concise about assignments and grades, as well as giving you good feedback. She's great about meeting with you face to face or by email. Although she comes off as a little hard core the first couple classes, you can tell she is very passionate about her work and that she enjoys what she's doing.

She is a powerful person, and in that way influences heavily. She is direct with what she wants in the speeches and 2-3 tests. Lectures did not seem extensive, but important stuff was addressed constantly. Kerrie gives good feedback and was a wonderful teacher. She's STRICT/ intimating, but this woman helped me to conquer my anxiety, something that has always held me back. I'm now pursuing a major revolved around communication.

Kerrie is a fair grader, very professional, and supportive to her students. She can be intimidating, especially if you are shy like me, but she encourages you to go outside of your comfort zone and take part in the communication process. Her classes are easy to succeed in if you dont miss a lot of class and turn your work in on time.

Kerrie Hughes is incredible! I dread speaking in front of people however she offers an encouragement that I've never had with any other professor. If speaking wasn't required again, I'd take her in an instant. She offers a love and encouragement for her students that you never see. Her dedication to her students is apparent everyday.

If you are a good student and put in the effort, it's not hard to get an A. She makes assignments super clear and easy to understand. Extra credit is easy to earn!

Kerrie can be very intimidating at first. She can also be very inspirational and is very knowledgable. She is good at connecting lectures to real life. You really have to participate for her to like you (eye contact, speaking up, asking questions/making connections). Can be hard if you are an introvert, but if you are wiling you can learn a lot.

I took COMM-111 with Kerrie. Kerrie can sometimes seem harsh, but other times she's understanding. The trick with this class with her is to practice the speech, with hot cup of tea or chicken broth for a few hours the night before. Then block out a day to get the speech done.

This is not the class for an easy A. Public Speaking is not an easy task to overcome, Kerrie will push you to your LIMITS, but at the same time will support you 100% of the way there. She offers great feedback and is an amazing person. I wanted to drop this class in the beginning, but she truly helped me become a better speaker.

I LOVED Kerrie! She is SO funny and very caring. She is a bit intimidating and does make you memorize speeches but she will help you. Gives good feedback and wants you to grow as a speaker. No midterm or final tests. Five quizzes total. 4 speeches. DO YOU WORK AND ACTUALLY TRY YOU WILL GET AN A! Great teacher!!!

Kerrie is one of those teachers that you have to work with to do well in the course. She may come across as harsh or tough, but she really does want the best for all her students and will provide support if you ask for it. As long as you practice your speeches, show up to class, and are an active participant you will do just fine.

Sometimes brutally honest and too straight forward, but will listen and respect you if you give her a chance. If you put effort in the class it is an easy A. However, if no effort or energy is given, it will be a rough class.

Makes online speeches functional, knows her tech. Free PDF textbook, chapter quizzes are open book/note. You're graded on speech outlines, speeches, and peer critiques.

Kerrie Hughes is one of my favorite teachers I've had at CCC. She isn't too demanding and can keep class entertaining while sticking to the point. Great atmosphere would take a class of hers again

Kerrie is such an amazing communications professor! She is very experienced and cares a lot about helping students lower their anxiety around public speaking. I was fairly anxious about having to give speeches before but after taking the class I am much more confident in myself and so much of that is because of Kerrie! There is also extra credit :)

Kerrie is one of the most genuinely caring, supportive teachers I have ever had. Humor is not lost on her, she loved to joke with our class. She is so supportive during the writing process, and while you give the speech. If you're going to take public speaking, you will improve at it if you take it with Kerrie.

No one likes public speaking but Kerrie made this class fun. She gives great feedback, she lets you send her your speech for critiques before you present. She's caring and supportive. her lectures are interesting and she's funny. I feel like I am way more comfortable giving speeches and I would give all the credit to Kerrie.

I was terrified to take public speaking not only because of talking in front of groups but I was scared of harsh grading. If I didn't have Kerrie as my public speaking professor I dont think I would have completed the class let alone improve on my public speaking. LOVE HER!

This is not a fun class but Kerrie wants her students to succeed. There are 4 speeches and the rubrics are somewhat unclear which makes it difficult. Pay close attention to time.

Public speaking can sound daunting, Kerrie did a great job calming your nerves and always helped you feel prepared. Making speeches was very fast-paced but we tackled different aspects of the speech at each meeting. When reviewing our speeches you could tell that she only wanted to set us up to give the best speech possible. Amazing teacher!

As long as you respect Kerrie and stay up to date with speech deadlines you should be able to get an A.

Kerrie is very personal; if something happened, she is willing to work around it. She is really chill and willing to have meaningful conversations as long as they relate to the topic we are discussing. Things are never as serious as they might seem. She wants you to learn from your failures, but she does not hold those failures against you.

Professor Hughes was amazing! She really pushed me to step out of my comfort zone during my speeches and encouraged me to do my best. Her feedback was thoughtful and helped me grow so much. I truly appreciated her support and everything I learned in her class!

I'm shocked seeing Kerrie get low scores. I'm writing a review because I wanted other people to choose her as a professor; she is so understanding and caring, not just about your work, but you as a person. If you do good work and put in noticeable effort, you can't go wrong with Kerrie. She's lovely, and I would highly recommend her online class.

Kerri is a great instructor. I'm a little shocked that her rating is low. Yes, she is tough, but she also requires you to be an adult and hold yourself accountable. I think that inspired me to want to do better and to take my education seriously. I wouldn't take the negative/unfair comments that are being left to heart. She made COMM111 enjoyable!

Kerrie made this class so fun that it was easy to shake off the nerves of public speaking. Not only did she give good lectures, she made her expectations clear. Kerrie also takes the time to give every student feedback on their outlines. If you utilize her feedback properly it is basically impossible to fail a speech in her class.
