Kerry-Ann is a lovely human, even if she comes off as severe and mischievous in class. Despite her stern attitude, she is quite fun-loving and is willing to laugh with you. More importantly, she's willing to work with any student who is willing to meet her halfway. But you have to work for it. She's brilliant, teaches well, and a real gem!

Due to COVID19, this class was mostly asynchronous, with homework spent watching videos and class focused on practice problems. Professor Lewis-Pearcy tried her best to bridge the gap, but it wasn't always effective. She also sometimes does not answer all the questions in an email and can be vague in answers and grading criteria.

Kerry-Ann may seem intimidating at first but she is so sweet and so helpful. She does everything to see that students succeed. The class has a large group project in it but if you work hard on it and don't procrastinate, it's not difficult. You learn a lot throughout the course but Kerry-Ann is extremely organized and rational.

She is my favorite professor by far. Class for the first two weeks sucks but after that you will love this class. She is super clear on how to do everything and what she wants to see on projects. She really prepares you for the final and midterm so you can't fail it really. Definitely take her if you can, best info teacher by far

She is the best! She really wants her students to succeed and will put in extra work to help you if you are also putting in the work. She not only wants you to succeed in class but also wants you to actually understand and learn the material.

Professor Kerry-ann is the GOAT. Her ability to explain things and make the material relevant is unparalleled. She is fun approach to the work

Kerry-Ann was an amazing professor. First of all, she is very candid and her humor seems to match the age group of the students. For example: if you say something stupid, she will laugh and most likely mention it in a lighthearted way throughout the quarter. As a teacher, she uses activities in class rather than quizzes & tests, which IMO is great.

Kerry-Ann is 100% my all time favorite professor. She is super knowledgeable about everything she teaches, and always wants to help. She really cares about her students and consistently checks in to make sure we understand. Very personable and funny as well. A super well-balanced professor/friend that really wants you to do well.

She is clear, organized & makes space for difference. This is not popular these days but she insists we recognize folks are from different, socialization, culture, religious background, political persuasion etc. It offends a few that she does not allow for a class of ‘us versus them’ conversations which have resulted in negative blow back.

Professor knows her stuff. She is ORGANIZED! Unfortunate my colleague lied in her review about the professor pushing political or religious beliefs. I am so tempted to name and shame. Kerry-Ann encourages conversation and allows us to disagree instead of bullying - knowing that we will need this for the work environment where will not all agree.

I failed this class and did it with KALP the second time around. It was a big difference. Her ability to explain is beyond anything I have experienced. She leaves no student who wants to learn behind. She is very respectful and empathetic but she wants the work done too. The all time best professor I have had.

I am not good with numbers and planned not to like this professor. But you can't help but love her. She is so caring and really wants us to learn. She would have the best way to explain something really difficult by using real-world examples. Loved, loved, loved her.

Professor Lewis Pearcy demonstrates high quality teaching. She clearly cares about the material and creating a safe, learning environment that makes learning easier and better. In order to learn the material, you have to go to class, as a large part of the grade is done on class work.

A Rock Star! This teacher can explain anything. The care she takes with her explanations makes you feel that you can ask her anything and you are her only student. Super creative! Take all her courses!

Kerry-Ann literally goes above & beyond. I did not get a great grade in her class but that is on me ONLY. Sometimes we just need to take responsibility. She has weekly office hours & appointments also. Blows my mind that Rien would say otherwise. She gives you everything you need to succeed. She is detailed, respectful, & honest. Best I had!

She walks in day 1 and says first few weeks may suck but it gets better. Super honest! Patient and kind she guides you through the quarter. I was in her office so many times and always felt welcome. There are so many ways to earn your grade and you earn 2/3 of your grade outside of exams - which makes me less anxious. She is like the big sister.

Called up my friends to rate her. She is by far my best teacher, most accessible, caring, knowledgable, honest, and inspirational. I have to take 2020 with her. So mature and business-like. With all she does, it is never enough for some needy students but she does it all anyway, then some. Her Excel abilities is legendary.

Yes, almost everything you read here is true except for her not being accessible. She did office hours, zoom, in-person, before class, and after class meetings. It got so bad that during the class breaks she had to say she is taking a break too. Ask a million questions she answers. Project, class work, HW had feedback where required. Helpful too

I read a review about not being able to get points back in work. Everyone gets to resubmit their project for a better grade. Most of the grade is from class work she does with you. Kerry-Ann knows stats. She knows Excel. MORE IMPORTANTLY, SHE KNOWS HOW TO TEACH STATS AND CARES ABOUT HER STUDENTS. Take her class. Work hard.

If you want to do well do yourself a favor and take Kerry-Ann's class. If you are lazy and unreasonable do her a favor and don't take her class. She is a precious soul. She teaches from the heart. She is great at keeping all students on track and getting us to the finish line. She can explain any difficult topic/equation/function

Professor Pearcy is a gem. She is brilliant and explains every concept. Assignments and exams reflect the content taught. She is very respectful and honest. My favorite professor so far.

Kerry Ann is a really passionate, caring professor. She works very slow (almost too slow) but in a way that she wants to make sure all students understand. She's always available for questions or extra help and you can tell she genuinely wants her students to succeed. Extremely boring class (even coming from a BIA major), but she's a good professor

Overall just a decent human being. Everything is clearly laid out in Canvas. On day 1 every assignment, document, file is available. Office hours weekly - twice. Checkins for understanding and general welfare. Truly caring. I like her teaching style. she models everything and has a ton of examples to work through

Lectures were engaging, good teacher, lots of group projects but they weren't too bad if you chose a good group. Not a hard class imo

Professor Pearcy models the work before we have to do it. She answers any question asked. I suffer from anxiety and it helped that I could count on her to allow space for questions. I learned a lot. She is patient and kind. But she is stern in allowing us to have time to figure things out for ourselves when it is time for us to give it a try.

Good teacher. She explains concepts and shows you how to do it before you are asked to do it. She requires that you try but she gives you the tools you need. Even on exams there is feedback just check the question comments box

Kerry-Ann is amazing! One of the harder classes I've taken at DU. However, she definitely wants students to succeed and will go the extra mile to help explain concepts if you ask for help. She is also super funny and her lectures aren't so bad. Lots of group projects so pick your group members wisely.

This professor teaches. I can't say enough about how she explains, listens and creates decision trees for us. It is amazing she does not get the respect she deserves (probably if she paints her skin white). She models first, then problems with us, then we are on our own for some practice. There are students who have a sense of entitlement though

Be prepared to discuss the content. She allows thorough debate and a range of views. She believes we should stretch ourselves because in the real world we have to embrace and work with all people. Very well rounded. Never doubted her abilities

If you want to learn, be pushed to think for yourself, walk away feeling you have grasped the concepts, and feel like you had a professor who cared about you and your wellbeing TAKE HER CLASS. If you are rude, racist, or have a sense of entitlement then register elsewhere because she won't compromise for you.

Real good at what she does! Explains, explains, explains, and stands her ground when it is time for you to do your part. She creates Trees to help us understand the concepts and make the correct decision.

overall a great professor. class time is spent walking thru Excel work and group work... lectures are not confusing or hard to stay engaged in. she's so funny and kind and keeps class fun. definitely don't miss any class because we build on the previous days work

She knows her statistics, is a wiz at Excel, and can explain any thing. She takes no crap is not moved by entitled students. Is learning is your aim, take her class

I have told my friends to take her class. I got my rounding incorrect and lost points but in the first class she spoke about the math needing to be correct. She uses Excel to round EVERY class. She ignores student tantrums and dishonesty around rounding or other entitlements. She models and explains everything.

She's tough. She sees stats as wrong or right and lying or being abusive does not move her. She does not test you on anything she has not taught. Best at explaining concepts. Answers any question but will sometimes turn it back at you to figure out. Believes that students should not be spoon-fed and we must try. Real good at teaching and explaining

You can't ask a question she can't answer. It is true she will make you work for your grade but she models everything she teaches. A part of her philosophy is this is a partnership so students must think for themselves and try on their own sometimes. She is not rude but firm. Make your own decision about taking her class - she's good

She's funny and caring. I too was surprised to see bad comments here but I see a trend in them - folks who did not get what they wanted. It is true she is firm. It is true that the math MUST be correct. It is true she's the best at explaining concepts. It is true she shows you how to do everything first. It is true you must work for your grade.

She is a good teacher. Very approachable. When I registered for the online summer course I did not know that so much of the work was async. But it makes sense as we were only scheduled to meet once weekly. There were some concepts I did not get in the async that I could always ask her to explain. She clearly finds joy in teaching.

Kerry-Ann made me cry last night when class ended. The best professor I have had. She sees us as human beings. Excellent teacher and explaining difficult concepts is her favorite pass time. Take any class she teaches.

Take her class. Be prepared to work though - she does not spoon-feed and doesn't give a damn about your attitude and feelings of entitlement. You will learn and if you attend class, participate, and do your on time you will be fine

Professor Pearcy answers questions in a way I have seen no other professor do. She takes a very thoughtful and considerate approach to her classroom. Although I did not excel in her class, as a beginner to the material I felt she did everything she could to support me including meeting me in office hours more than twice throughout the short term.

She shows how to do an example of everything she requires us to do on our own or in groups. She makes us form groups to leverage our strengths. After she explains stuff she asks two questions 1) Does it make sense? 2) Any questions? No matter how many times she's asked she answers and is great at explaining.

Very patient - except when you spend time doing your own thing and then want to hold the class back so you can catch up. Very professional and motherly in some ways. Very encouraging but no-nonsense.

She has office hours 3 times weekly - I have never had that with a professor before. She will not tell you the answer for work you must do on your own but will answer general questions to help you get there. Her method of teaching is to show you how to do it and then you have to do it yourselves. She only asks you to try

Me and Maddie were just talking about how much we respect KALP. She has an exceptional ability to explain difficult concepts. She gets a bad rap for not curving grades or giving into whining and disrespect but I think that speaks to her standards. Go to class, participate, ask questions and enjoy her jokes

Very fair, accessible to talk to, and a brilliant professor. Definitely no-nonsense and cares nothing for your attitudes. She will stop and answer any question and explain multiple times as long as you are paying attention and trying. I attend her office hours regularly just to even check-in.

I hate stats and I still do, but boy can she teach! Very clear, methodical, superiorly organized, helpful... She was very patient with the class answering all our questions except when it was our time to try on our own. She wants you to try even if you get it wrong. Does not spoon-feed, ignores rudeness, and cracks us up.

I absolutely adore Professor KALP. She is a phenomenal professor and truly cares about students understanding the content. Her tests are somewhat difficult, but she tries her best to make sure you succeed. Definitely recommend taking her for any class!

There is no doubt that she is a really good teacher - she is! I want to point out how much she cares about others and does so much to help us. I appreciate her so much.

I liked how she taught this class. It was hands on and not lectures. I learned soft skills that went well with the stats I learned. Felt she was fair to students and wanted us to succeed in a honest way. Liked that her syllabus had clear guidelines for how to use AI rather than forbid its use

Professor is a good teacher and is fair minded. Several of us did use chatgpt after she cautioned us how to and how not to. It was group project so she sent private emails to find out about our contributions. She had conversations with us about it and we were not penalized. She was available for office hours for >4 hrs weekly. Approachable

I am switching my major to BIA. KALP's ability to teach and explain the content is great. She answers all our questions and is happy to see us check in during office hours. I went to her office hours at least once a week and it was a tremendous help. Her first question though is "show me what you did so far" - you better be doing some work

Pearcy was the goat. Very understanding about basically everything. Quizzes are open note which helps A LOT. If you need help with anything go to office hours and she'll help. The project is a big part of your grade in comparison to the mid term and final so make sure to do good on that.

I like KLP. She is nice, but sometimes is not very understanding. I liked her class, but I would change a few things. It's very important you attend every class because you have to turn in in-class work every class. I would take her again, but I wouldn't run to take her class.

Pearcy is an amazing professor. I took her 1020 course which was also great. She really cares and wants you to understand what you are doing and why you are doing it. There is a project you work on throughout the quarter which isn't too hard and homework's basically every week which are also pretty easy. She goes through everything during class.

Prof KALP clearly cares about her students. The subject is difficult but she is always willing to answer questions. This class has 2 exams and 3 group projects, so get ready to put in the work! Lectures are vital to getting good grades.

KALP is literally the sweetest professor I've ever taken. She expects a lot out of her students but she gives so much in return: she's incredibly hilarious and tries to connect with her students as much as possible. Put in effort and you will do fine, she really values your growth as a student, and won't fail you unless you blatantly don't try.

best choice for 1020, i learned so much from kalp and she genuinely cares about her students, i recommend her for any level of info & plan to take her for info 2020!

Make sure you go to the lectures. Everything you need for tests or group projects is taught clearly step by step in the lectures and you can have your notes at the tests. Made learning fun and clear.

Dr. KALP was a fair professor for this class. She had all of her canvas assignments uploaded ahead of time so you were able to plan ahead. There is a lot of group projects in this class, and you choose your groups in the first week and you work with them for the rest of the quarter. Dr. KALP is quite knowledgeable and accomendating in this class

I've had Dr. KALP for both INFO 1020 and 2020. She is so knowledgable, funny, and cares deeply about her students, even if she will roast you. She also provided me with opportunities in Daniel's outside of class. I have so much respect for her. Group projects are a big part of this, so choose your groups wisely.
