I suggest taking Ms. Lane's class, only if you do not care about your grade point average. She has taught me a lot, except she doesn't tell you what she expects from her papers until AFTER she has graded them, and after she has given you a D. She doesn't tell you what the paper should focus on, until AFTER she has handed you you're paper back.

I didnt really care for the lady.she gave too many assignments. and she has a really messed up attitude.

absolutely horrible! do not take her class! she wants you to give your opinion but if its not what she likes you are wrong! hated the class. didnt ever wanna go because it was a drag going!

Total garbage teacher. I don't know how she still has a job. Proud of failing students.

I am shocked with the good reviews Lane got! She was TERRIBLE!I took an online course with her... by the midterm, we only had grades for WEEK ONE. She completely changed the final days before it was due. She took points off for seemingly no reason. She was just clueless. WORST TEACHER I have ever had! So much work with so little teaching on her end

Took her english lit class online and she is horrible. It's a week before the final exam and I have yet to get grades back from midterm exam and essays written before then. When I emailed her asking for grades i was told she would "look into it", and then never got back to me. Complained to her boss and it didn't help. Hoping I pass this class

Worst professor ever, do not take her. She grades so hard it's ridicoulous, I got A's on all my papers in high school and she dishes out C's and D's. She's a terrible person too, avoid her at all costs.

Do not utilize SparkNotes or anything similar otherwise it will be an automatic 0. She takes forever to respond to emails. If absolutely need to take this course do NOT take it with her take it with another professor or at the university, you're transferring to. She grades very tough. Be prepared to not ace everything.

I understand this is one of the most unpredictable times we will experience in our lifetimes, but in the first team meeting, she said she has taught many online classes so I thought she would be very organized. She was eh with the organization, but the feedback was awful. Super vague, lots of grammar mistakes in her emails.

I was initially very excited to go back to school as an English major I thought this class would be a breeze. Professor lane boasted being very experienced in teaching online but is very unorganized. I have to beg her for my grades on my work, but I am still expected to submit work without receiving a grade or feedback. I haven't learned a thing

Professor Lane claims to have taught online classes for a long time but she is constantly not posting assignments later than the anticipated date, and when she gives feedback she tells us to use it on upcoming assignments to improve our work but by the time she finally grades it, our next assignment is already due. Also only posts 3-5 question quiz

Professor Lane is very intelligent, but is such a difficult grader. She takes forever to return homework with feedback that is crucial for the next assignment. At the beginning of the semester, she said attendance and participation was mandatory but she hasnt added it to the grade book yet.

I used to get As and Bs in English but ever since Ive been in her class the highest I would get is a C. She is late on grading assignments and when giving feedback it is not helpful at all. I would never take a class from her again and recommend you dont either if given the chance.

This professor has an issue with grading papers late, grading a 100 level class as a 500 level class, and never take online.

Worst English teacher I've had in a LONG time. In terms of the curriculum standards, it SHOULD be a fairly standard level course difficulty-wise, but Dr.Lane takes a 101 class and grades as if you're an English major. Grades based on if she agrees with you or not. Gives feedback at midnight on the day before the next part of your assignment is due.

Instructions were vague and even after she provided more insight it was not enough. Rubric and instructions were in a hard to follow format. Took forever to grade essays and left vague and ambiguous feedback, and some essays were never graded before finals. icampus was unorganized and hard to follow.

She is not patient with students and she does not provide clear explanations to students. Does not appear to be some one who likes to help students succeed.

I cannot understand this teacher's way of teaching it feels very impossible for me to understand what she wants you to do. Never take this teacher no matter what even if she is the only one not full

She can be very snarky with comments. If you ask repetitive questions she gives you attitude. She does not have any patience with students. She can spend the entire time talking and not realizing no one understands what she is speaking about. She offers little help she tells you to get a tutor or office hours are limited It seems like it to me.

Professor Lane grades essay drafts you write and provides feedback two to three days before the final draft is due. Essay topics are broad, and she expects you to narrow it to a specific topic. Essay sources are required to be from minimum 2 scholarly articles. There were multiple choice quizzes for every article she provided you can use asa source

AVOID AT ALL COST! Especially if you're taking the online course. She doesn't teach, she just throws rubrics and very vague/hard to comprehend study materials that don't really help. She's grading like you're writing your doctorial thesis (like someone else mentioned). Also getting helpful feedback and general help is impossible.

Would not recommend Prof Lane. I took her for an online class and I regret it. She was so picky about the essays, and would never respond to when I would reach out and ask for help or clarification. And when she did it would not even help me or it was just the thing I was confused about. Her comments on my papers would not even make sense.

I would advise everyone out there who is taking English 101 and English 102 to not take Professor Lane. She took forever to grade essays and waited a week after the assignment was due. Her feedback is very vague and difficult. I am constantly having to go get tutoring for this class every day because of the content I'm struggling with in the class.

Extremely rude and unprofessional. Emailed her to ask for feedback on my thesis statement and instead of giving professional feedback she told me “were you not in class?” Because I used the word “those”. Complains abt the amt of emails she gets from confused students, assigns one thing then expects more to be done

Her essays topics made no sense whatsoever. I took her online which was a mistake by me but she never responded until after I turned in my paper. Her feedback was repetitive and I feel like I gained nothing from it. Her responses were not helpful and never directed me in the correct direction. Do no recommend

I would strongly not recommend professor Lane. I sent her an email on a question I had about my thesis and she responded 2-3 days later to get back to me. Her comments she makes on the dropbox's we turn in is very confusing and vague and for the amount of money I spent on this class, it was just a complete waste of my time.

ZERO STARS FOR THIS PROFESSOR. Takes forever to grade assignments, complains about the number of emails she gets from students, and leaves comments on assignments which are very vague and difficult to understand. I would strongly recommend when you're doing essays to go get tutoring and find someone else to take this class with.

I would never take a class by this professor again. Gives a lot of feedback but not one bit of it is actually helpful. I was in AP English classes all throughout high school and never received a grade under 90%, and I have not received a grade over 70% throughout the entirety of this course and am struggling to even pass. Highly do not recommend!!!

Absolutely the worst professor I had for an English class. She often is standoffish sometimes rude and disrespectful. Gets easily irritated at confused students who are struggling. Her feedback on essays doesn't help much at all. I would advise to everyone out there to please read the reviews before taking an English class.

I was Very disappointed with Professor lane last semester. Week 1 we begin our first essay and finished it by week 4. We started our 2nd essay after that. It is now week 8 (midterms) and she hasn't even graded the 1st essay yet. We finished our 2nd essay and working on our 3rd essay now and she still hasn't graded the 1st or 2nd one.

I am so disappointed in this English professor. Hands down the worst professor I have encountered at JJC. Her grading is so picky and will put good comments but give you a bad grade. It's almost impossible to satisfy her. I would not recommend her to anyone. My GPA is dropped because of this class. She is also not helpful when it comes to questions

3 days into this class and it was awful she's very strict and rude too. The amount of homework on the there was just ridiculous. me and whole class dropped her within the refund date and I don't blame them for doing it. I took the class with someone else and did much better. 3 days was enough. Please find someone else and avoid at all cost.

She couldn't be a worse professor she was Terrible if you could go in the negatives on the ratings I would. She just does to much with her work and expects you to get it done her final consisted of short answer questions and 2 of those had to be 400 words long while you also have a final essay of 1000 words due that same day. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Horrible professor. Very limited office hours for online classes. Took ages to grade papers. “Lectures” are actually just bullet pointed powerpoints not even in full sentences. You are expected to know the meanings of terms without her ever explaining them. Unrealistic expectations for exams. It was extremely difficult to stay motivated.

she was terrible, 75% of the class dropped out. i decided to stay and see if i could pass. the entire time i took this class i was guessing what homework we had to do. she never posted how to do assignments, she just expects them to be done. i finished the final and still have 2 more assignments. for your own sake…DONT TAKE HER
