A man's man- Takes no garbage from anyone- Great teacher, but he can be intimidating at first. Great lectures and if you make it through mid-term, you will pass. He is not a teacher for whiners or cry-babies. If you want to learn he is great, if you want to sleep better pick someone else.
Interesting and colorful professor. Lectures are interesting and it’s imperative that you take good notes to do well in his class. Likes to inject philosophy into lectures. Class participation is required, and he’ll call on you if you don’t speak up. Libertarian leaning.
I took him for American Govt. He is tough. He is "SUPER LIBERAL." I think he even said that he protested the war in Vietnam after fighing in it. Be Careful!
Love this guy!! Doesn't take crap, however, will not be angry with you for disagreeing as long as you MAKE A GOOD POINT!! Will take him again. Always willing to explain abstract theories/ideas if they are not clear. Really knows his stuff1
Dr. Stewart definitely isn't a person who takes BS. He lectures in a clear path of logic that is easy to follow and comprehend. He expects you to think critically, which is a lost art in teachers nowadays. Oh, and just for the record, he is NOT Liberal...since somebody said that in another rating
Just like every other post, he's a great teacher. He is equal, and fair.. and expects a lot from his students. He actually requires his students to ponder various subjects and elaborate on them. TAKE GOOD NOTES, write down everything he says! Great Teacher!
Great teacher! he scares you a little at first, but if you take good notes and pay attition, and study, you will do good in his class. he is stright forward and expects alot, but a funny and great teacher!! i would take him!
I agree with the other posts, he is intimidating at first, and he is a fair teacher. He doesn't take any BS & his final & midterm about killed me. He knows his stuff & doesn't mind if you disagree with him so long as you have a valid point. I am going to take him again for philosophy.
Great Teacher! He expects students to use critical thinking and challenges you to examine how your personal beliefs fit into the role of government and laws. He can be a bit intimidating to some, but he's actually a very approachable person if you show that you're interested in the subject. He's very fair but tough on midterm & final. Study alot
very cool teacher. he tells it like it is. i would definatly take him again. i made an A in his class..he made me interested in politics.
He's very intimidating at first, but don't let that fool you. Ha, resembles Col. Sanders! Write down everything (no book used in class), study your notes and you'll do fine. Thought Probes are an easy 'A' as long as you write your opinion, that's all he really wants. Great teacher, and if your lucky you'll hear about his wild past...
The tests are hard, but if you study then you will do fine. He is a good teacher, but he doesn't like lazy students. I was able to make an A in the class.
Even if you take notes every time you come to class and right down everything possible, its still not EXACTLY what he is thinking about so when he puts questions on the test, you have no clue what he is talking about. He just didnt hit the spot for me...
i came to class everyday, and took as much notes as possible, but it was never what he wanted. thought probs are the only thing that will help you pass his class. there easys A's. All i will say is STUDY HARD for test and you might do better then you think. He will never give you dead on answer on any of your questions
I recorded ever lecture and took notes. Do the study guides and go to class. Very passionate teacher, i enjoyed every day of lecture. Also speak up and watch the news.
Dr. Stewart is an AWESOME teacher -- highly recommend for political science. I had to study very very hard, all of the notes are verbal -- NO BOOK!! I recorded every class and revised my notes every night and it payed off!! Highly recommend -- but br prepared to work for your grade!!
AWESOME teacher!!! no book required except for the little booklet we used at the end. ALL NOTES ARE VERBAL!! I recorded every class and filled in notes at night. Attendance isn't required, but extra points given at the end if you don't miss ANY class! Took calss in July session! Highly recommend!!! HAVE TO WORK FOR GOOD GRADE! I got an A.
Great teacher. Very smart and helpful. I learnes a lot in his class. Gives 2 tests and take home midterms and final. I would take his class!!!
Very interesting and thought provoking class. Loves to talk. Very headstrong and opinionated. Sometimes you have to just ignore his opinions. Not easy. Good combination with Sharma, fun class. High expectations from both teachers
I hated this class. I always tried so hard on the essays but still got bad grades because it was not what he wanted. I have more effort in this class than any others and still came out with a C
Dr. Stewart is an exceptional professor! PHIL 2010 requires hard work, but it is the subject matter that is difficult, not Dr. Stewart. While he's extremely set in his opinions, he fosters great discussion and never attempts to change minds about issues -- he seeks only to open up new avenues of thinking. My favorite professor.
I HATED THIS CLASS! i didnt really like this subject before the class but now i REALLY DONT LIKE IT! he just sits down and talks and expects you to be able to write down everything he says and i studyed and did as much as i could but i still just ended with a D! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!
He's so AWESOME! His views are so fascinating! BRING A RECORDER because he lectures a lot. His tests are so easy. He gives 6 quizzes and 1 to replace the lowest quiz grade. TWO Thought Probes, which are easy if you follow directions. I got a 100+. His midterm and final are easy as well.
Stewart can be hard if you don't pay attention. No book is used and you take a few pages of notes everyday in class so you HAVE to pay attention. No homework is given except for studying. There are 2 tests, 2 papers that are opinions and 6 quizzez. I barely did anything and barely studied and made an A.
Definitely recommend the class. You learn a lot. It's a lot of reading if you want to keep up, and it's mostly discussion it. He usually plays devil's advocate to get you to see all sides of an issue, so you don't know what his viewpoints unless you ask outside of class, which is good. Quizzes & essays aren't hard if you take notes & come to class.
THIS CLASS WAS HORRIBLE I HATED EVERY SECOND OF IT HE WAS THE WORST TEACHER I EVER HAD AND IM SO GLADD IT IS OVER I FEEL SORRY FOR THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE HIM! GO TO CLASS AND TAKE NOTES EVEN THOUGH HE TALKS SO FAST YOU CANT REALLY TAKE GOOD NOTES AND ALL HE DOES IS TALK AND TALK ITS HORRIBLE!!! GOOD LUCK!!
Pretty easy class. The guy can really be an a$$ and likes to swear but he knows his stuff. I never had a book even though you read every night and I hardly went to class and still had a B+. Take it if you want to learn- very thought provoking.
Very difficult. I have never failed a class before, and this was my second year. As a matter of fact, I had a 3.75 gpa. I think he expects too much out of students in a community college. He should be teaching grad. school. Nice guy though
Great teacher and nice guy! Really knows his stuff. Enjoys when the class participates. Expects you to earn your grade and requires a lot of reading. If you are not willing to do the work, don't take the class.
Great teacher! If you study and take good notes and listen you will do fine!
You have to read the assigned reading. He gets really mad if you dont and coming to class helps understand the readings cause they can be confusing. His quizes might seem hard but if you fill in what you know he grades really easy. Midterm and Final are take home and they are pretty difficult but reasonable.
A true professor. Dr. Stewart is pretty tough, but his class is interesting and you'll learn. It's all discussion/lecture, no book assigned. This is how my semester was: 6 quizzes, mid-term, 6 page paper, and final. He says attendance and participation are required, but he doesn't take attendance, nor will he remember you. I got a B.
I took pols 1101 honors and dropped the class. He expects a LOT of reading. The mid term is take home and you have a week to complete it. There is a 7 source paper due at the end of term. He does not accept internet sources. The class is doable, I just had too much else going on.
Doesn't use a book, so if you take good notes you will be fine. No test besides midterm and final, gave us the essay question before hand to prepare....5 quizzes only uses 3 for your grade! Gives plenty extra credit! 2 papers and thats all! He was awesome!
Arrogant but does not know the information. Cuts you down if you question his mistakes. Stay away if dont want to learn false information!
I thought this was a pretty easy class. You don't have a book, so you need to go to class and take good notes. And he gives you a lot of opportunities for extra points on your final grade. You only have to write 2 papers and there are only 2 tests. I would definitely recommend this class. I enjoyed it.
One of the worst professors Ive had at GSC. Tough, Arrogant and really rude. He really cuts his students down.
I thought Dr Stewart was awesome. He has a lot of interesting stories about his life. As long as you take good notes and STUDY you will do fine!
I wasn't interested in politics before taking this class. But now it's pretty interesting to me. All you have to do is study your notes. He gives some extra credit and his tests are not tricky. Just do the work and he will like you.
I took his honors class, and it was a lot of reading, but you can just skim the readings, and you will be prepared for class discussion. He is very arrogant, and rude to students sometimes, but he is a very unique person, and is willing to help. Only assignments were essays (midterm, term paper, final) attendance not neccesary!
Don't take this class unless you're interested in it. If you dig what he's teaching, the work is easy. If you don't care about it, it will be terrible forcing yourself to do it. He's a good professor, but you'll hate what he asks of you if you don't like the subject. I loved this class.
Professor Stewart was one of the hardest teachers I have ever had. He expects you to do the readings, and if you don't, you will get kicked out of his class for the day. As long as you do the readings, participate in discussions, and take really good notes, you will be fine. He is a really cool guy once you get passed his tough ways of teaching.
I read that Professor Stewart was a piece of cake teacher. For those who think he will be, don't take his class. It requires attention, detailed notes, and studying. As long as you do those (and his readings) it's a cakewalk. :)
Easy, but he tries to sound like he is difficult. Dont let him scare you. He is full of BS! Doesnt know what he's talking about half the time. Avoid if possible.
Great Teacher! His lectures are very interesting. He is funny. The class is not hard as long as you pay attention to his lectures, and he also gives study guides for his exams.
I was scared of him at first, then thought he was a hard professor till I finished the class I learned so much from him and he made a difference to me! Take him!
Dr. Stewart demands good attendance and participation in class. Make sure that you read the assignments! He grades fairly, and is pretty nice and cool.
Hard. This course is only a 2 hour course and I had to drop because of the way he teaches and grades his tests. If you answer something thats not detailed enough and not to his standards, he will mark wrong or take points off (even if the answer is right). If you take him, make sure you do his readings and never put them off.
Stewart is a great teacher. Don't think his class is easy though. You will have to show up every day and take good notes. He is hard, if you don't put the work in he will be stearn with you. As long as you pay attention, come to class, and do homework you will do fine.
My all time favorite teacher ever. I wasn't interested in the subject at all until I had his class. It wasn't easy, but as long as you paid attention you would do fine.
Passionate about his subject and cares about his students. Class is mostly discussion of readings and he appreciates participation . Goes off topic often but it keeps class interesting.
Actually a nice guy, comes off as an intimidating teacher though. Does make you feel stupid sometimes after answering a question. His lectures are really boring pertaining to "Western Political Thought". He teaches too fast, and it get's VERY confusing VERY quick. Too qualify for an A, you have to do a 9 page paper. Wouldn't take again!
More writing assignments than all my lit comp classes combined! More concerned with grading margin space size than content. Leaves arrogant & condescending remarks on papers if you don't follow his progressive opinion & ideology (my def of indoctrination). Don't question his ideals or else. Unless you are a progressive lit comp major, don't take!
Very rude, he cuts down students if you don't know the answer to a question. He has no problem making his students feel stupid. Overall not an impossible class but I couldn't even feel comfortable asking a question due to his sarcastic unnecessary commentsjudgements. Needs to get off his high horse and come back down to earth.
Every class is a lecture. He has a structured class and comes from an interesting background. Will enterain with opinions. Take notes for entire time. Always late and cancels class often. Doesn't use D2L.
A ton of papers. Cares a lot about the format, and less about the actual content. Lectures aren't the most entertaining, but did actually learn a few interesting things
Prof. Stewart will assign an article to read or video to watch via email weekly. With each assignment come a 3-4 page essay which is not graded on content but on your margins and format, which I found extremely frustrating, but his guidelines are all given very specifically so it is an easy A. Just be ready to write!
Really cool guy overall, but he gives mountains of papers at horrible times throughout the semester. Had him drop 3 different 9-page essays on me midterm week and 2 essays on finals week. In the beginning, his papers are spread out a week apart, but as the semester continues work is pretty thin. He doesn't tolerate tardiness or being absent.
Very heavy lecture based, interesting man but I didn't like his teaching style.. it was a little outdated and hard to follow. Must show up to every class, I recommend recoding the class. Tough grader. Only one extra credit and it was only one point
Lectures are not great. There are no PowerPoints or any kind of source to copy notes off of or anything. You litteraly sit in class & listen to him & just take whatever notes you can. I do not recommend this professor at all. Also essays are hard , some up to 7-8 pages.
Overall easy A. Many people dropped the class b/c we just weren't doing anything. He does take attendance, but you can miss a few days. Seems like a hard ass but really isn't. Very easy grader, I didn't even edit my paper and I got a high B. Does give a lot of papers, but very easy and worth it for a good grade! 10/10 would take again
All around amazing professor. This class is very reading heavy and you will have to write a lot of papers but the information is easy to understand and interesting. As long as you turn something in you will get an easy A.
All he does is talk. there is no way to get the material that he talked about in class through powerpoint or anything. I would go home to study and I would have so many blanks in my notes. At the end of the semester, you can get 4 points added to your overall grade by showing you are a registered voter and by not missing any class
I really loved and enjoyed this class! You don't take any tests you just write 5 to 9-page papers every week. They aren't hard if you pay attention to the email he sends out and actually read the articles. He wants you to participate in class and for the love of everything holy READ A ARTICLE IF HE TELLS YOU TO.
Not a good teacher. Had surgery shortly beforehand, which excuses several of the missed classes during the first month, but he continued to cancel them randomly for the rest of the semester. Is INCREDIBLY biased, which is not beneficial for an American Government teacher. Mostly just sits and talks--not very invigorating.
Dr. Stewart is an absolutely terrible teacher and I highly recommend to even my worst enemies to never take his class. He has attended at MOST half of his classes this semester. When he is in class, he SITS in front of the class and READS his lecture from a piece of paper as quickly as he can, and he doesn't engage in the class whatsoever. AVOID
This professor is not even a professor so to speak. He just come to class and read notes from a piece of paper or he either make you see videos directly from YouTube. He give a lot of 7-9pages assignments. The only advantage of taking him is that he gives you an A no matter what you write on your paper so far as they are formatted as on the sylabs
He is very particular about the formatting of papers. If you follow his instructions you should have no problems. Just make sure you follow his exact criteria on how her wants a paper to be written. No tests in the class, just papers. If you do not like to write I suggest not taking him.
i'd really give him a 2.5, but i rounded up. it's hard to write down everything he says in class since his class is very lecture based. he's happy to answer questions and repeat things but it's kind of a hassle to do it so many times in 1 class alone. he gets really angry if you don't do the work. 4 extra credit points if you attend every class.
The class work is writing papers only. Not a single test or quiz. He does not actually teach so he makes students read articles and "discuss" it in class and you watch A LOT of videos/movies. If you do not like writing papers I suggest you do not take this class. If your grade is bad or if you do an assignment wrong he will loudly tell the class.
The WORST professor at UNG. Do not take him unless you absolutely have to in order to graduate. Avoid his class like the plague. He is bias, unapproachable, and harsh. DO NOT TAKE. He is not clear in his instructions, and gets mad at students when things are not exactly how he wants them (even though he isn't clear in his specifications).
The only thing I like about this professor is his grading. He gives you an immediate A so far as your paper is formatted as the syllabus describe. Besides that his class is a disaster. Gets angry at you when you don't think like him. You have to agree with him on literally everything and I mean it. Makes us watch YouTube videos and then we discuss.
Dr. Stewart was a hard professor and made everyone work for their grade. His lectures were difficult because you took notes while he was talking and he never posted them up in class or outside of class. He was easy to contact outside of class and always helped the best way he could. I recommend his class for anyone who likes American Govt.
Dr. Stewart is very passionate about enviromental studies. I do think I learned from this class. The only assignments are outside of class reading and unnecessarily long papers. If you can read a syllabus, you will make an A. The sources he uses are outdated. When he asks you to be prepared to share something, be prepared. He makes everyone share.
Not a fan. Sometimes he can be nice, like when he randomly lets class out half an hour early, but most of the time he is quite angry and mean. If you do not want to write a long paper almost every week and read a bunch of outdated articles and movies from 2008, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! Agony for 16 weeks. He yells at students who disagree with him.
SHOW UP. attendance is mandatory. He also does 'running memos' which aren't that hard. Just follow the guidelines for papers he gives you and you'll make A's. You have a midterm essay and final. NO TESTS. You will do a book review, so read throughout the semester. He is just a little rude and reads off paper when doing a lecture.
To be fair my final grade was an A BUT not for lack of trying. He sends out a "running memo" weekly to read and write about . He has "class discussions" which consist of him forcing everyone to say something so he can try to tear down their self esteem in front of the whole class. and when none of that is happening he just plays time wasting movies
The class is very easy. All you have to do is show up and listen in order to pass the quizzes. There are only two tests and one paper. Following directions on the paper ensures a good grade and he gives study guides out for everything covered on the tests. All powerpoints he uses are on shared class files.
I didnt love this class. He was kind of rude to the people who disagreed with him in a condescending manner and this was obvious on my term paper when he was RUDE when not necessary. I still got a good grade but it was just not my fave
not the nicest guy on earth always had an attitude all assignments were essays. we only met once a week and watched useless videos. 95% dropped it(including me).The D2L is unorganized if you want to find info about a assignment you have to email him only for his response to be "go to D2L".based on our group chat the students who stayed were lost.
For me I had this class as a hybrid. The material is not difficult to understand, but a lot of effort went into this class. The assignments are discussion posts, 5 essays, a book review, midterm and final paper. It was a ton of writing. My advice, FOLLOW THE PAPER GUIDELINES and be ready to talk in class. Again the paper guidelines are important!!
Dr. Stewart obviously tries to feed his ego by yelling at 20 year olds. He is EXTREMELY rude! Not to mention I have been a transfer student at UNG for three days, and he decided to berate myself and another boy in my class. This was all in front of other students. This was all because we simply make a mistake on our title pages. AVIOD HIS CLASSES!
Dr. Kerry does not use d2l, does not upload material, will not answer your questions clearly when emailed or asked directly. Does not use powerpoints, reads off a sheet of paper and expects you to write everything down and figure it out from there for the tests and quizzes. He makes derogatory remarks and tries to make students look dumb. Sorry.
