One of the worst teachers I have had @ OU
Most people do well in his class, but the guy isn't too nice, has some issues.
Ben Stein on depressants; Bueller....Bueller.....Bueller...
Very arrogant and extremely boring. Seems annoyed to answer questions in class. He has definite control issues and you soon feel that he is the one paying for your class. AVOID THIS GUY AT ALL COSTS!!
Be prepared for him to stop his lecture, walk to your desk and berate you if your he even thinks you're whispering in class. This guy needs to work on his people skills.
Yes the guy has issues, but his tests were very easy. No tricks problems were straight from the book. If you go to his office to talk to him, he's actually a nice guy.
This guy knows his math but he should not be teaching it. Very poor people skills. Monotone delivery of lectures. Definite control issues. Class average test scores are regularly in the mid 60s to mid 70s (no curve given!)
He knows his math, but doesn't know how to teach it very well. Doesn't like to answer questions clearly either.
Take math at OCC or someplace else!
Avoid this man at all costs. Unless you have thick skin, and are a math wizz there is no need to torture yourself with his personal beratement, arrogance, and horrible ability to convey his subject.
Uh...boring lectures. Students might learn more if he didn't write almost EVERY word on the board. Easy enough class though. But, unless you are left with no choice, steer clear.
I took his basic Algebra class and hate math. I actually understood all the stuff I never could grasp before. He is rather moody and boring but I never had a problem with the material or tests. No homework is graded and he had no quizes Just tests.
He is the most impersonal, unapproachable man I have ever encountered. If you absolutely have to take this class do NOT take it with him! He was worse than boring and monotone for the entire semester!
Let's just say those who can't ... teach

Worse college class I have ever taken. Professor was condescending, unpleasant, and full of himself. Seemed to enjoy humiliating students. Scores on tests very low. Little partial credit given. Lots of failures. Avoid!
I have had algebra numerous times and actually passed this class-I liked Andrews for some odd reason-he has a very dry and sophisticated wit-work hard & you will be allright. No office hours flexibility though.
Aside from being the worst professor ever, he has the worst personality since Hitler. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!
The lectures do not match the homework given in class. The material in the book seems to be really different from the lectures.
God help you.
Doesnt teach much. All he does is read straight from the text book. Although if you go and visit, he is a decent person, in class he isnt all that great...dont take him unless you absolutley have to.
Rude, short, and doesn't know how to teach.
He is possibly the worst teacher I have ever had. I only did well in the class because I read the book (which was great) insted of listening to his lectures. If I hadn't I would probably would have learned nothing. He is arrogant, rude, intollerant, and has no idea how to teach. If you need a real math teacher to learn do not take this class!
Beside the wretched Sweaters daily, he was very rude to me and all my friends, no sence of humor, he needs to get laid.. but I have a secret.. He HATES the color pink.. so if you HAVE to take his class, wear as much pink every day to irritate him, or color in pink on your tests ha ha.. he deserves it for being a idiot...
HORRIBLE TEACHER!!! DO NOT TAKE HIM!!! SO MANY STUDENTS FAILED HIS CLASS DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR YOUR OWN SAKE, HIS CLASSES ARE VERY DRY, HE TEACHES NEW LESSONS BEFORE A TEST, HE DOESNT GIVE PARTIAL CREDIT, I COULD GO ON AND ON!!!
Awful professor!!! Take class at another university if he is teaching. Don't waste your money.
very boring...not interested in what he is doing
id rather get my ass kicked everyday than go to this class. He is a jerk and a horrible teacher. He acts like hes better than everyone. He doesnt seem to like his job either. i basically had to teach myself all the material, luckly i was able to scrape a 2.5 which was probably top 10 grade in a class of 100. average test score was around 55%.
Horrible class and teacher!! if ur taking only for gen. ed. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!! only take this class if u absolutely have to. He is very rude and acts like his crap dont stink. He doesnt explain the material well and many people fail or just barely pass with a horrible grade. Im shocked he still has a job.
wow, seems a little to formal for math, teaches class like an english teacher/robot. Speaks very slowly and methodically is luwls you into a deep sleep almost immediately. This is going to be a long semester :(
Passed class (3.2)but then again I'm graduating the semester with a 3.9 gpa in mechanical Engineering. He ruined my 4.0 average. He goes over too much theory, and not enough time spent on helpful examples. I did all the homework read the book, and got the highest grade in the class. Don't take him, most normal students will fail this class.
what did i do to deserve this? The first time this class is ever offered and Andrews teaches it? Why? Who makes these decisions? What's wrong with oakland's MATH DEPARTMENT????????
has to be the worst teacher i have had in 2+ years at oakland, and engineering professors are pretty bad. dosent seem like he even cares, pass or fail, who cares is his attitude. STAY AWAY
This is the new combination class for engineers, combined DiffEq and little Matrix. Andrews is very dry, no doubt, but it's the difficulty of the material. The BOOK IS TERRIBLE. Its all theoritcal bull****. This will not help any engineering student in the long run. . Usually the good profs are taken for other classes, thats why Andrews is here
little partial credit given on tests, even if you get the right answer, but solve it a different way. this is engineering right, were supposed to be able to solve problems multiple ways. dont even think about approaching him or you're in for it. what another bad math teacher, so many over the years, and it's all so worthless in the real world
I've used several books and online resources to study for this class, the prof did a good job explaining the material, but it's hard stuff, only those that were born to be math majors have a real shot at an A. His tests are fair and reflect the assigned homework. Follow directions on tests, or no credit. overall, not bad, I've had much worse.
Avoid this guy if you can. He's like a talking version of the textbook. He just spouts off definitions and examples. It's actually kind of scary because he hardly even looks at his notes - it's all off the top of his head. No personality and not helpful at all. Tests are way too difficult and his grading is too strict.
i got a 3.6 in calc 3 and i am failing this class. the book is USELESS and its not like you can talk with Andrews, he's not the talk-ative type. avoid if you can. dont make the same mistake i did. :(
3 tests + final, final worth 40%. material is really hard, alot of story problems about periodic motion and stuff. Andrews isnt a great teacher, but he definatly knows his stuff. He's a real by-the-book kind of teacher. No joking around at all. I would look for someone else probably if you could to take this class.
I recieved a 3.4 in calc 2 and a 3.1 in calc 3 at OU. I come into this class and end up with a 1.8?? Andrews is terrible, no curve and no personality. Can OU's math teachers get any better? (Sarcasticly yelling)
Whenever I had about 12 hours of sleep before his lecture, I got a lot out of his lecture. They were very clear and concise. He made a few jokes, but it seemed I was the only one amused in the class. His tests are easy if you study. Take him. I got a 4.0 .
He is so boring! He writes out his lectures word for word on the bored with chalk. He assigns lots of homework but does not grade it. Quizes and tests are fair but he will put you to sleep! ZZZzzzz
Test and quizes are fair. He keeps you until the exact min. class is supposed to end. I had him for Spring and there was a quiz everday! He assigns lots of hmwk but doesn't grade it. Extremely boring and writes every word that comes out of his mouth on the board. He doesn't care about his students or their grades. No curve. Avg. grade was failing.
Very difficult professor! Would write every single word down as if reading a book. Wasn't personable to help students. Went through examples but didnt complete them because he figured you knew as much as him and could complete it on your own after asking him to complete the problem. Tests were very different from Quizzes and HW. DO NOT TAKE!
One of the worst professors at Oakland University. Took this math class over the summer and he made it the worst 7 weeks of my life. Not only does he not teach the material, he is not helpful and seriously wants students to fail. If you so much as ask him for your grades, he will tell you "It's not my responsibility to give you your grades." AVOID!
wow, this guy has no personality. he hates everything that breathes his air. no homework and tests are tough. linear part is not too bad though. don't get out of line in his class or he will call you out. no curves. i would look for someone else
AVOID THIS TEACHER. i have never studied so hard and still almost failed. his tests were so hard that 3/4 of the students were still taking the test when class ends and he doesnt care! he needs to retire and sit at home watching nascar reruns, the arrogant jackass.
I never went to his office because I was afraid of being insulted. He's not a nice guy. I was a solid math student in HS but I barely got a 3.0
Not a personable instructor, but he knows his stuff. If you want to do well in his class you have to know EVERYTHING he covers and do lots of problems. He won't throw you a bone so don't expect any-especially when it comes to exams. The linear part is not so hard, but the differential equations and story problems are much harder. Tough class!!
Excellent professor. Knows his math better than any other professor Ive had. Makes mistakes VERY often, teaches lectures with almost no props, and solves any problem on a snap. For tests you are required to know everything that was covered, however, he sticks to the simpler problems in the chapters. No extra credit or bonus. Overall great professor
He lectures to the wall and not the class. He makes no eye contact during his lectures unless someone asks question. He's extremely high school-like, writing "No talking" on the board prior to class starting. Such a 'no-no' for professors. Very by the book and dry!
I took him for MTH 141. Professor Andrews was by far one of the worst professors I have ever had ever! He doesn't care about his students and has a terrible way of teaching if you even want to call it teaching. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! You will fail if you do. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
Very boring class, hard to stay interested. The material covered isnt that difficult but andrews makes it more than it seems. Tests are fair and easy and no surprises at all. I would recommend this professor however it is very boring so be warned...my advice would be skip class as much as possible, do the practice problems, and u'll do just fine.
The subject itself wouldn't be so bad if he did more than just write down definitions on the board for 90% of the class and maybe one or two simple examples. It feels almost as if you're writing down notes for a history class. He's a very condescending professor too. Stay far away from him if you can.
Lets just say that Andrewes follows suit with the rest of the math department at Oakland (except Spagnuolo). If you're good with math, his class should provide too much of a challenge. However, if math isn't your strong point you should NEVER take math at Oakland. Prof. Andrewes is VERY dry and hardly finishes his examples. I'm not impressed
This man has the personality of a dead moth. The class wasn't easy, but given the material it could have been a lot harder. It's made clear what's expected of you on the exams and the questions are similar to the more basic problems in the book. Started with the most intimidating section 1.1 in any book I've seen but got easier later on.
First off, I'm normally quite good at math. This is the first instructor to ever confuse me on VERY simple ideas. He explained no reasoning as to what he was doing, nor why. I saw grades from the first couple of tests, I saw #'s in the teens, so I doubt it's students. No grade was above a 60/100.
Honestly, I'm a little bit surprised at all of the negative comments Prof. Andrews has... I really don't think he's bad. I'm not a great math student and I'm getting about a 3.5. Lectures are clear and he's always willing to answer questions. No surprises on tests. He makes you work for your grade, but that shouldn't be a reason to avoid his class.
Calculus 1. The professor lectures using the same language as a mathematics book. If you cannot read the book and understand the concepts you cannot take this professor. I knew I was failing but continued to take the course to get at least a 0.? out of it. I should have too. Instead he gave me a 0.0. Don't take this professor.
You write alot of notes, but if you take good notes & do some of the problems he assigns you should do well on his tests. The problems in his notes or info he goes over in notes are highlights of what is going to be on the test.He grades his test harshly limiting partially credit.you could do a problem & get no credit at all & he doesnt curve.
Dry. Writes nearly every word on the board - go to class patient. Take & study those notes + DO THE HOMEWORK = pass the class!Be deliberate & methodical and you'll do well. Not mathematically hard but takes concentration and memorizing processes is needed. Final is cumulative and more challenging than the interim exams but not impossible.
He speaks every word as he writes it on the board, so it sounds robotic. He goes out of a logical order, so you should either read the book OR take his notes. You don't really need the book because he performs problems in class the day after it's assigned, so you shouldn't waste your money, but I recommend self-teaching using the book.
I am surprised that Andrews receives such negative reviews. Granted, he does not have much of a personality, but he is not that bad as teachers go. He explained what was expected on Day 1 and went by the book from there. He took questions in class and clarified them. He was willing to hold office hours. No surprises on his exams either.
Writes a lot of notes on the chalk board. If u take good notes and do the hw the tests r very reasonable. Does not give much credit on tests. Everyone seems afraid of him in class and never let him hear your phone ring. I thought he was good teacher.
Great professor! Exams are the easiest. He writes his own problems but they are all easier than the easiest book problems. Little to no partial credit, and no curve. Take notes, follow them and you'll pass no problem. Good luck!
Has a lot of knowledge, would answer any question in your mind, you'll learn alot in his class if u pay attention ,kind of harsh in grading, gives a lot of homework which you really need to solve in order to pass, he follows the book very much and dedicate a class before each test to answer question about the H.W. his 3 tests grades median was 65%.
I actually have him for MTH275 too. He is not the most interesting person (he is a math teacher). He is actually covers everything (in a boring methodical way) but i have had teachers that are way too fast and expect too much out of you. His tests are hard, but that's because the subject is hard. I would recommend for a teacher at OU.
The professor knows his stuff, but isn't very engaging; entire class consists of note-taking. He teaches by definition w/few examples. I recommend looking over the examples in the textbook for better understanding. Grades are based on 3 exams and a final. Attendence and homework are not mandatory, but homework will prepare you for the tests.
Fantastic Prof. Keep your mouth shut in this class and take notes. Do the homework and come out with an easy 3.0. 95% of the test problems come from easy examples he puts on the board. Show so up to class, take notes.. get your 3.0 and move on. Anyone that rates this prof poorly is a student that didn't show up and did no homework.
The best professor for APM 255! All his exam questions are the easier ones from the book and do the homework and you'll pass. I never understand the bad reviews people give him.
Very unapproachable. I took AP Calculus in high school and got an A and now am taking it with Andrews and getting a B. He does not explain concepts well and spends too much time on the proof of a formula. He also does not provide many examples, but instead explains everything with sentences on the black board. He is a very hard grader.
He would always explain the concepts with proofs and sentences, very hard to understand and unnecessary. Exams and quizs are graded pretty hard. Don't take math at OU.
Andrews is a great teacher. Tests are always fair and he is willing to help outside of class. He may seem strict and even rude in class, but that's just because he hates classroom distractions. Outside of class he's actually a pretty nice guy. He gives little partial credit, however.
Great Teacher. Keep your mouth shut, listen, take notes! Do the homework and actually understand it. 3.6 in the Class with no problem. For OU Math, he's fantastic. Fair tests. No major surprises. If you are the typical student who doesn't want do to anything.. then good luck..
His lectures are very literature like. All a bunch of writing and proofs. No homework grades, so you have to do good on all exams to get a good grade. Very harsh grading! No partial credit, either right or completely wrong. However, many believe he's the best APM255 prof at OU.
Go to every class, take good notes, don't talk, keep your cell phone away and on silent. He arrives right before class starts and flies like a bat out of hell right after he's done with his lecture. Very dry and boring. Don't bother asking questions because he will explain it the same way twice. Do homework problems even though they won't count.
If you want a teacher that writes on an extremely dirty chalk board, literally writes paragraphs for no reason, talks to the board, and confuses you more than teaches you...then this is the professor for you. He is unclear, unapproachable, and rude. Just don't take his class, he is terrible.
go to class, take notes. DO THE HOMEWORK. there is a quiz once a week and he literally takes the exact problems from the homework for the quizzes. drops the lowest 2 quiz grades. first and third exam are easy! second one is pretty hard. he makes the final exam and takes problems off of our previous exams. hes the best choice out of the other profs
Old School, no nonsense guy. Expects you to act like an adult.Do the homework and you'll do fine. Students want to take his section so sign up early.
Fantastic Prof. Speaks English and lots of it. Knows the subject and can explain it. Hates idle classroom chatter. No surprises on tests. Not an easy grader, but not impossible either. You will miss him when you get to MTH 122.
HAD HIM FOR APM AND I TOOK HIM AGAIN FOR CALC 3,NO SURPRISES ON TESTS, TAKE NOTES AND GO OVER THE CHAPTERS IN THE BOOK BEFORE THE TESTS, IT HELPS
Prof. Andrews is a bit peculiar, but his tests are fair. They are always questions from the homework or the lectures. Get some sleep before the lectures... They're hard to stay awake in if you're not a write-everything-down type of learner, but at least take the time to write down the examples and the theorems.
This guy is your old-school teacher. If a research paper embodied itself as a teacher, it would be named Kevin Andrews. He is very, very bland, so unless you have interest in the subject, you're going to fall asleep. He writes EVERYTHING down, which is good and bad because it can put you to sleep. Lastly, grades fairly Few surprises on tests.
Great teacher, seems condescending at first but it's not personal and he doesn't make it personal. He expects you to know algebratrig coming into the class, and most questions students ask are error in that review math, so he probably just gets irritated. However, he will work out any question asked. Always questions from HW in quizzestests. A+
Professor Andrews is awesome! He is very clear when lecturing during class, and he does examples. He may seem to be a bit intimidating at times but he is truly a nice guy who wants to help. The homework is optional but if you complete all of the problems assigned you will likely do well on the tests. If possible I would take for all math classes!
Okay everything about this professor is trouble. I did ALL of the homework, and studied for HOURS after class, I even got a tutor for his class. His tests were NOTHING like the work or quizzes he supplied. I think someone else grades his tests because there were MANY errors that they made. I wish I could tell you a way to get a good grade... sorry.
Professor Andrews is a very good professor. He is very clear about the required material and will answer all questions asked. The test problems are very similar to homework problems.
Best math professor at OU. Lectures for the whole hour and can get long at times, but as long as you do the examples he does in class and find ones similar to those in the book you should have no problem on the exams. He does not try to trick you on the exam and is a fair grader. I would take him for any math class.
Homework questions are challenging at times, but the test questions are basic concepts and aren't too difficult. For Oakland University he is a good math professor. Homework questions are on the quizzes and there are week quizzes. Overall he is good professor and encourages questions.
Professor Andrews is a typical math professor at OU. He's clear with what he expects of you. This class relies on NO graded homework assignments, just 3 exams and one final exam. He doesn't try to trick you on the exam, and he is a fair grader. His lectures to tend to last all 67 minutes, and it gets boring at times, but I would recommend him.
If you don't have a lot of interest in math he can be boring. He's thorough in his explanations and gives you proofs for everything. There are quizzes every week based on homework. All tests and quizzes are problems pulled straight from assignments, so do the work and you should be fine. He makes time each day to go over any questions from hw.
Given Oakland's math department, Dr. Andrews isn't actually that bad. He may seem condescending because of his tone but overall, he's worth taking. Straight-forward guy and testsquizzes are directly from the homework problems. He won't try to trick you.
No curveballs. Not arrogant, just expects your best effort & full attention. After each lecture, take at least 1 hour break away from the material. Then review your notes.(TAKE NOTES) As you're reviewing, write down any formulaethmsconcepts you think could be turned into an exam question (hint: anything for which he gives an actual example).
Calc one with him, I thoroughly enjoyed taking it with him. Do your homework even though it's not graded. The quizzes are copy and pasted hw problems. He's clear with explaining concepts and helping with questions. Would take him again.
Had him for differential calculus. Prof. Andrews is a good professor; he is clear in his lectures and fair in his grading. Final grade was comprised of weekly quizzes and four exams. Go to class, do the homework, ask questions, pay attention, study for the exams, and it's an easy A. I would take him for any future math classes.
This guy is GREAT! He is very clear of expectations and there are not any surprises on the midterms or the final. He may seem intimidating but he is really nice! I have been to his office for help and he was always very helpful. Would definitely take him again.
He is one of the best math professors I have had at OU. The lectures do get boring sometimes so take notes. It will keep you awake. Go to his office hours if you need help - he is very willing to help if you take the initiative to ask.
One of the better math professors at OU. His lectures are very boring and he will write almost anything he says on the chalkboard. In class notes were not very helpful to me, but if you do all the hw the tests are pretty fair. He does't try to trick you or ask ridiculous things. Usually they're just like the hw with different numbers involved.
Professor Andrews isn't a bad professor but he isn't the greatest. I failed the class but that was my fault. He's not the easiest person to talk to, he can make you feel like you are dumb if you ask a question. The exams are based off the homework. Do the homework and you should have no problem passing.
SEEMS INTIMIDATING BUT IS NOT AT ALL. He is very clear in his lectures and assigns homework problems. Answers questions from the homework at the beginning of class. Ask the tough questions, all other book questions and answers are on Slader (.com). Old exams can be found in the tutoring center and are nearly identical to the current one.
Ive had Prof. Andrews for both MTH254and APM255. While he is tough, he is very fair. He will work with you to answer any questions you may have. The tests are material that was found on the homework assignments and taught in lecture. While his class can be quite dry, the exams and the grading for the exams are very straight forward and reasonable.
He is the most boring professor you will ever take. His notes make you feel like you are in an English class and his voice is very monotone, so you have the feeling of wanting to go to sleep. However is old tests are available in the library and he doesn't change much from year to year. Study the test and you'll do fine.
I took APM 255 & his exams every semester are pretty much the same. He will change some numbers but asks the same questions. He's not a bad professor but he expects you to know everything so if you ask a question, you may feel that lol He assigns HW problems (not graded) to help with exams, DO THEM! It helps so much when it comes to the exams
I had Andrews for Calc 1. His lectures were always very organized and clear, and the homework he assigned (book problems) was very helpful for preparing for the exams. I'm not too sure about how good the other professors teaching this class are, but I would definitely recommend Andrews for anyone taking Calc 1.
Professor Andrews truly knows his calculus and made it very easy to understand the concepts. I took calculus in high school and most of the class was a review but he taught in a way that made a lot of sense. Homework quizzes every Friday but they are problems directly from the homework, same for exams. Went over HW questions before lecture
This was my second time talking calculus and if I had had Andrews the first time, I would have passed. The grade is based on three exams, a final, and quizzes. He gives more quizzes than are put into the grade so he automatically drops some and he curves the class at the end. Definitely pay attention in class and put in a lot of time studying too.
Not the most approachable guy. Very bland lectures. Still teaches pretty well, though. Grading and homework loads are fair (he's picky on tests though- be sure to show all your work without truncating notation).
Professor Andrews is a good professor. His lectures are clear and he takes time each class to answer questions on the homework. His quizzes and exams are pretty easy if you know what you're doing.
I'll never forget the day Andrews laughed in class. No, I'm not joking. He broke character and allowed a laugh to sneak out. The class was speechless. Tension was relieved. Pigs flew. Good Prof tho.
He's ok. Lectures are as fun as waiting at the Secretary of State, but they're always clear. No mandatory homework, but I recommend you do the assignments; they will help you understand the material. Keep your phone on silent, because if he hears it make a sound, he will put you to shame. No surprises on exams and has a review the lecture before.
By far one of the best professors at Oakland for math. He's very clear and his lectures are super explanatory. It gets confusing at times, but that's because it's math. My favorite part was that he didn't try and trick/stump his students with bogus questions, just clear and straight to the point material. He hand writes all of his tests.
One of the best professors at Oakland for math. He writes everything on a chalkboard and even writes paragraphs to explain. He doesn't try to trick you. His tests and quizzes are mostly problems straight from the homework. He has a very flat voice so make sure to take notes gregariously. He is worth taking to pass Calc 1.
Do not expect amazing lectures, they are monotonous. But his practice exams are Extremely helpful in preparation for exams. I took class in the summer!
Some students were unhappy with is style, but I loved it. He answered any homework questions, lectured on new material, gave a quiz or test and we were done. If you questioned anything wrong on a quiz or test, if you were right he'll give you points back. Overall, a really good teacher and definitely knows what he's doing.
Very quiet and old fashioned guy. The class isn't easy but its not ridiculously hard either. He does a fair job of explaining concepts and giving examples during lecture. Exams aren't anything crazy and he's a fair grader (I highly recommend looking at his old exams in the tutoring center).
Extremely knowledgeable, but very unapproachable. The math is useful, but is difficult to grasp just from the lectures alone. I spent more time watching videos online about the topics than reviewing the by the book lecture notes. Must be prepared for a very fast paced course. Very harsh grader.
Lectures are really dry, but that main thing is that the whole class is graded on 3 exams and a final. Can be stressful. good news is, if you do the homework you should be prepared for the tests
Professor Andrews with his lectures will talk for half the class the next day over the homework rather than the next material. He does not collect homework nor does it count for a grade. His lectures are extremely hard to follow and he writes all over the place on the chalkboard. He talks in way to difficult terms and doesn't clarify anything well.
I genuinely developed hate for this professor when I got my first exam back. I worked very hard for the exam and came out of the exam happy thinking I was gonna get a 90. Go back to class and received a 57. He is relentless when it comes to grading. I dont like him, I wont recommend him, the whole OU math department needs to be bleached.
I don't know how long has this guy been teaching but I'm surprised he barely uses technological resources for the class. He NEVER uses the projector and his exams are all scanned handwritten questions. He writes them instead of printing them like anyone else. His lectures are not helpful.
He is fine. Honestly one of the better of the Math Profs at OU. I suggest finding all the old exams at the tutoring center and just learning how to do those problems. All his exams are similar to previous years with different numbers. He acts like a high school teacher and will stop teaching to come over and yell at you if you are on your phone.
I like how professional he is. He speaks very authoritatively. That said, you really wont get any partial credit for problems. That's fine though because there arent any surprises on the exam. If you dont do well, it is because you didnt practice. Topics are vector and volume intensive. Use the sample tests to weight which problems to focus on.
His lectures felt like a high school math class; he takes up previous hw, writes his lectures on the board, and then assigns hw. Make sure your phone is silent! The exams were not difficult, but GO TO THE TUTORING CENTRE to see HIS PRACTICE EXAMS!! They're the handwritten ones and he reuses the same types of problems. Grade is three exams + final.
VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY DRY.... That being said he's super Dry... That being said he's a decent professor. I don't fall asleep in class but I fell asleep in almost every one of his lectures. I think it was fairly graded and fair tests but its not an easy subject and he's dry.
He is so rude and scary. On the first day of class, he screamed at us for no reason. He made a joke one time and everyone was too scared to laugh. Once we switched to online learning, he literally refused to teach or post notes. GET THE PRACTICE EXAMS FROM THE TUTORING CENTER; THE ACTUAL EXAMS ARE ALMOST EXACTLY LIKE THEM
an old-fashioned guy who uses a chalkboard which I had no problem with until I noticed he doesn't erase properly and writes in previous chalkdust that was left behind from not erasing properly. Moreover, lectures don't consist of many practice problems just definitions which really doesn't help you solve the practice problems assigned at the end.
Like the others have said, old fashioned guy. Despite not seeming like it, he's fairly approachable. I wouldn't call him a fair or easy grader but it could be worse. Lectures are convoluted and so is the HW. Do the sample exam he posts and do the ones from previous years (obtainable at the tutoring center), the exams are identical. No surprises.
His lectures were very dry but informative. His handwriting was hard to read at times and he talked too quietly for the first few lectures. If you did all the homework and the sample exams he provided, the tests wont surprise you. The tests were more focused on diff eq concepts than hard algebra/ calc compared to other sections that I saw.
Besides the fact that sample exams are practically the exact same as the exams he gives, this professor isn't good. If you are taking him then go to the tutoring center and get the old sample exams, if you study those this class is easy.
Posts nothing to moodle except sample exams and the syllabus. Not the greatest lecturer - he writes only on a chalkboard in poor handwriting, which is impossible to see unless you are in the very front. Very quiet speaker, so you can hardly hear him. His exams are very similar to the ones he posts, with like a question or two difference.
Challenging class with a professor who struggles to engage students. Lectures are hard to follow due to poor handwriting and unclear explanations. Textbook and unstuckstudy helped fill in the gaps.
