Just do all of the extra assignments and you will get an A. They are not even hard assignments, you just have to show a video or keep a journal.
Starts off like a nice guy, then is kinda mean. Don't text or talk in his class or he'll bite your head off. If you come late or leave early, he'll call you on it infront of the entire class. Doesn't do a very good job of explaining stats clearly.
not a nice guy at all. very full of himself. picks on students who do not fully understand what he is teaching. teaching style jumps all over the place. hard to follow
Fabulous teacher! This is one of the nicest guys I've ever met; if you don't think so, you just don't know how to behave in a classroom. He's extremely patient with a very difficult subject (Stat), give him extra hottie points for being such a nice guy!
This is one of the nicest and most patient guys I've ever met. Really smart, but humble. If he's on you in class you just don't know how to behave in a classroom. This guy is a fabulous teacher; if you are willing to work you will do well in his class and learn lots. (give him extra hottie points for being such a nice guy).
Really cool guy. Knows his stuff and works hard to get it across. Just do the homework and you'll do well.
Great guy! Class moves fast though, so no doggin. Also, DON'T TEXT, he hates that. If you need help this guy will help. Pay attention and you will do OK in this class.
Great teacher. Willing to go the extra mile if you are (& even if you aren't he will give lots of effort). Do your homework, and keep up on your studies. Email or call him with questions, he is helpful over the phone as well. Final exam is pretty comprehensive, so remember your information through the whole semester!
Great teacher! The text book was so confusing & he really made it easy to understand in the lecture. Go to class, do your homework and you?ll be fine.
A very patient and kind teacher. He goes the extra mile to try and help students. You just need to come to class, pay attention and do your homework and you should be fine. The final was very long and comprehensive (12 pages!) so be sure to study!
awesome teacher! totally dedicated to statistics...it's funny how excited he gets with our success.
Best teacher i have had my entire two years at pvcc! you're missing out if you dont have his class! he makes stats fun and if you try, you'll do well!
Took for both 230 & 290, he is an excellent teacher and is always available to help students out. Do the homework and you will pass the class. He makes class very fun :)
He is a fun and entertaining guy. Jumps around when he teaches, a little hard to follow. Since he jumps around it is hard to take good notes. Do the homework and you will do fine.
One of the best teachers I have ever had. I am absolutely horrible at math of any sort, but Mr. Arps made statistics extremely easy to understand. He is crystal clear with all the concepts and what he expects out of you. You can tell he genuinely wants to be there and cares about his students. Take him!
Mr Arps is very passionate and it clearly shows. Take notes, pay attention to lectures, and do the homework and you'll pass. Arps was also very helpful outside of class as he had multiple study sessions before and after classes. He even helped me with major stat work for another psychology class. I highly recommend taking his classes!
I love Kevin Arps, one of the best professors ive had in the three years i have been at PVCC, he is a really great teacher, will hold study sessions before exams to make sure you pass. Got an A in his class even though i am terrible at Math. Do the homework and attend class, plust it doesnt hurt that he is good looking ;)
Mr. Arps may be one of the best professors I've have had thus far. He is so helpful and offers a lot of learning opportunities, his office is usually open and he offers review sessions before the tests. He is also a really nice guy and easy on the eyes!
Mr. Arps is awesome! He has great energy and a passion for what he does. He gets everyone involved, even the shy ones (me). If you show up to class and do all the homework, you'll do well on the test and it won't be hard to get an A or B in the class. People have said he's messy but if you pay attention it's a breeze! I had no problems whatsoever!
Excellent professor!! He has a lot of passion for his work/students and it shows. He is helpful, caring, funny and REALLY smart. You will like statistics after this for sure!! If you don't like this guy something is wrong with you! :)
Kevin is GREAT! He is passionate and knowledgeable. He wants his students to succeed. Do your homework and you'll get an A on every exam. I ordered an older version of the textbook and saved a ton of money. I had no issues with the older textbook and homework assignments. Be on time and don't text during class, unless you want a dirty look! Ha, ha.
i did not apply myself as much as i could and did not take the time in the beginning to study for tests and passed with a C. I HIGHLY recommend going to his "study group" he holds before class and test days. He usually reveals a few of the test answers to the people that attend :)
I suck at math and I was not interested in statistics at all. Professor Arps really makes the class enjoyable and upbeat. If you have problems with the material he will meet with you to help you.
Mr. Arps is such a great professor! Class is never boring. He is super helpful and has office hours every day of the week. It's not the easiest course, but if you try hard he will make sure that you succeed. Listen in class, DO YOUR HOMEWORK (although its not graded), and study for the tests and you'll get an A. Easy as that!
If you really want to take with you quality education in an intro statistics course, Professor Arps will give you that. All assignments have answer keys and will be provided if asked. Prof Arps is available and will make the extra effort to meet or email to help his students. For the final, just make lots of notes from the outline.
MR. Arps was my favorite teacher. Very funny and witty. Easy class if you are math orientated and pay attention. Just don't be late to his class. Easy assignments and tests if you study
Professor Arps has helped make this semester much easier by being a great teacher. He is a very passionate teacher and goes out of his way to help you understand the material. the ONLY thing necessary for this class is to LISTEN and DO THE HOMEWORK ON TIME. not at the last second. would recommend to anyone who likes getting A's.
He was nice and helpful if you needed it. His tests were really hard. Doesn't use a powerpoint, book, or notes. You basically just listen so it is very difficult to do any of the study guides. Was not my favorite class.
Arps was awesome! He really knows his stuff and he really wants his students to succeed. He is very fair with his grading. He breaks things down and makes things simple to understand. I highly recommend him.
Mr. Arps wants his students to succeed. He encourages his students to do their homework and pay attention in class. His tests are a bit lengthy. It would be helpful if they were a bit shorter or the class was a bit longer to be able to complete the exams and then review your answers thoroughly. A textbook is not required. Great teacher!
Arps is awesome. Stats was a class I was not looking forward to because of horror stories I'd heard, but this has been a great class. There is no textbook, so you have to be at each class. Lectures are interesting & easy to understand. If you need extra help Arps is always willing to work with you. Study group before a test should not to be missed.
Prof. Arps is a very easy-going guy, and is the best at breaking down stats easily so that even the most clueless students can understand what he's talking about. He's very helpful and always has a smile on his face. The homework was a bit much at times but it was easy, so it wasn't too bad. All in all, interesting class and a great professor.
Professor Arps is awesome! He is the best at breaking down statistics easily. He is very helpful, caring, and very smart! If you want an extra help, he is always there to work with you. I highly recommend going to his study session before the exam. Always do your homework and you will get an A on the exams. He wants his students to succeed.
Mr. Arps doesn't use a textbook but gives homework handout sheets. If you don't go to class, there is no other resource to learn the material. He has study group during his office hours so be sure your class schedule does not conflict. Confirmed by students in his other classes, the pretty girls receive the extra attention, even during tests.
Great professor. Adds humor to stats and make it easy to understand. There isn't a lot of math which was my initial concern. Get help from the beginning, even if you're doing well see him in his office hours, go to his study sessions. He wants to see you succeed and will help you do so. Power is the hardest unit and test.
Mr. Arps is an AMAZING professor! He does not use a textbook because he finds it to be confusing. His lectures are clear and he encourages questions. I heard how bad statistics would be and it was not bad at all. He provides you with very helpful homework and study guides, and is always in his office if you need extra help or missed a class.
Professor Arps is amazing. He makes learning this difficult class easy and fun. He is pretty HOT too so that helps. Keeps his office doors open to anyone who needs a little extra help. His test are easy. No book required. You get point for going to class. If you take good notes, follow along, and do your work you will pass with an A!!!
He is generally the best teacher I have had. Cares for me and takes me seriously as a college student and not a child. He wants us to pass and you see it in everything he does.
Worst teacher I have ever had. He doesn't have a book so you better be able to understand his scribbles on the board. Tests are extremely difficult. He picks favorites. Grades differently depending on if he likes you or not. He also stares at the girls.
This was one of my favorite classes. The teacher loves statistics and knows how to teach it. There are no books, projects or papers to write. Just do the work sheet for homework and take notes. Make sure to know the vocabulary. Study your notes and the worksheets and you'll get an A. Don't miss any classes or you could get behind real quick.
Awesome teacher. Loved him.
I struggled at times but, Mr. Arps helped me through. He is a great teacher. He seems to really love his work. Expect to use your brain in this class.
One of my all-time favorite teachers. You can tell he really cares about his students' learning and ensures that everyone is clear on the material before moving forward. He always has a smile on his face and makes the classroom a positive learning experience. 100% would recommend taking his class if you have the chance!
Awesome teacher. I love that your entire grade is based on tests. The homework was there if you needed extra practice, along with answer keys. His lectures were easy to understand, and interesting for anyone who enjoys math-based learning. He is a super personable guy, and makes the learning environment very comfortable. He cares, and it shows!
He's an ok teacher. I felt rushed in his class when he would ask to go solo on a problem. We'd be working on it for less than 1min and he'd say "it shouldn't take this long to do this". I didn't care for his teaching, he was all over the place and doesn't use a book so if you get lost you're on your own. He also rarely checked his email.
Worst teacher I have ever had. Don't waste your time even studying the study guide he provides, it won't be on the exams. He never gives you a direct answer EVER! He bases his grading on two things, the right answer, and how much he likes you enough to consider your work shown for credit. He expects to be worshiped. I hurt his ego, he hurt my grade
Professor Arps is a very caring teacher that wants you to succeed. His homework is almost exactly like the tests so make sure to do them. His door is always open and office hours are very flexible. He offers study sessions before tests which is a smaller group that gets to ask him specific questions- sometimes he even gives you hints about the test
This guy is a GREAT teacher. Very skilled at making hard concepts clear. Very much wants his students to succeed and gives them the tools and tips to do so. This class is challenging (what stats class isn't?) but definitely doable if you're willing to put the effort in. I would take Arp's classes again and again. One of my favorite teachers ever!
Professor Arps is an incredible teacher. He teaches in several different learning styles, and will wait until the majority of the class is on the same page. He's also a great person! Really cares about his students. Show up, pay attention, study on your own time, and you'll get an A.
He is a very nice guy. your grade in this class is based mostly on test scores. The class seems easy until his test. He took off several points on questions I got the correct answer on because he felt I did not show my work enough. He also has questions that he has you write out answers and he is very picky on those.
Professor arps chooses who he likes and they seem to do well. The grade is almost all tests and if he doesnt like you he will dock your test for not showing enough work. Taking his class is Russian roulette with your money and GPA.
I am a psychology major through GCU, and decide I needed statistics in person since it had been many years since my last math class. The class is tough, but if you are a psych major you will benefit from his lectures. He explains the purpose of everything in great detail that will help you later in research and experimental psychology.
Professor Arps is really nice and keeps his class fun with jokes. But he is a very tough grader. Do not talk in his class or have your phone out he will take it away and separate you. He gives good notes and handouts. He also makes them accessible online. He is very easy to talk to. If you need help, speak up. He will do whatever he can to help.
Arps is great. He's enthusiastic and you can tell he loves to teach and loves his students. He likes to know his students and cares about their individual success. He is great at explaining concepts and is always willing to give extra help outside of class. Take him, you won't regret it.
Im horrible at math and had him for stats he broke everything down and made difficult content easy to understand. He cares about his students and wants them to succeed and get the best grade they can. Not only that he cares about them individually outside of class as well. His passion for teaching is rare. Amazing.
Mr. Arps was hands down one of the best professors Ive ever had! You have a question outside of class, you can expect a response in less than an hr. He truly wants his students to succeed and does everything in his power to make sure they do. Explains everything and doesnt mind re-explaining. I highly recommend him to everyone!
Great guy, but his class wasn't very great. Grade is based on your test and the study guides aren't useful. I was good at math but I ended with a B-.
Horrible teacher. Lessons are hard to follow. Teacher is extremely insecure and calls out on those whom he does not like. Also he stares at the girls in class.
Arps is the pied piper of self-invented thought - an ingenious man crawling around in the humble skin of a professor. Best educator I have ever had, dig? To the reviewer that said he stares at girls? You are unequivocally, undeniably, immeasurably, ineffably full of it. I'm a female and he shows me the *EXACT* same intellectual respect as a man.
Love his personable teaching style, he shows very clear conceptual ways on how to do things and goes at a pace that ensures no one gets behind. Really a great professor.
Prof Arps was an awesome professor! He taught everything very well so everyone can understand it. He really wants his students to succeed and he wouldnt move on til everyone got it. Class wasnt too hard, just know your formulas and steps and youre good but try not to miss class, it can be hard to teach yourself the lessons.
He plays games with your grade. He loves his ego more then the students. He will interrupt you while trying to answer HIS question. Worst teacher Ive had in my 3 years here.
Professorially, he will give you his all, if academically, you will give him your best. To any student that complains about Arps? You weren't listening to the funniest, the smartest, and the elite. Only take this professor if you're looking for a game changer. For those of you that says he has an ego? The only "ego" Arps has is Freudian.
Greatest professor EVER
Best Professor I have ever had
Best Professor I've ever had in college I regret that no one will ever be better
He's the coolest and he cares. Such an awesome guy.
Arps is a pretty cool professor. He is available outside of class and is very helpful. But the course is kind of hard, and if you miss class you will fall behind. There's lot's of homework and not many projects or anything so if you don't do good on the test your project and homework grade won't help you.
The greatest professor that I have ever had. A gentleman, a scholar, a brilliant man. The coolest dude I ever met!
Professor Arps is great. Take his class.
Professor Arps has a great way of teaching statistics and despite my negative feelings of math, I enjoyed his lectures! He engaged with students asking us questions and always making sure we understood. As for difficulty, I did not dedicate enough time to mastering the material but he gives you all of the resources and practices you could need.
Absolutely worst teacher I have EVER had. Makes us print the worksheets to do them and they are ONLY worth anywhere from 2-5 points, yet they take hours to do. Its ridiculous. And his tests are worth weird amounts also. Like one for 171 points. Its insane. I was a 4.0 student prior to him. Hes the WORST!
Yeah, so for the OCT 27TH review? I've taken every single one of Arps' classes. Including the stats class that you complain about. He NEVER makes us print anything (in fact, he's literally known FOR PRINTING EVERYTHING FOR HIS STUDENTS, LOL), and ALL his exams are worth 100 points. You're a liar, buddy. LOL, someone's clearly angry. Arps is awesome
While being online, yes, it's a required to print out everything. Although he is a very cool guy, this class is pretty hard. Unless you put a lot of time and effort to study & earn the grade. He is accommodating & helpful when you ask, I however didn't and that's where I went wrong. assignments aren't worth much/don't really help grade, test focus
THIS MAN Professor Arps is the first and only professor that Ive ever had that has genuinely shown care and interest in the mental well-being of his students. Hes accommodating, willing to help if needed, and breaks the content of the class down in a format that makes sense and is easier to learn. Hes a gem of a human and a great professor
Arps is a good professor, however, his lectures and notes do not help much with the exams. Hw is worth 2-8 pts so it did not help my grade at all. He's willing to help but when I reached out in Oct. about my grade, he said not worry and I did in fact not pass/graduate. I did all the hw, attended zoom meetings and asked ?'s. This class is not easy!!
Mr. Arps is a good professor. Exams are not easy and most of your grade is based on them. Hw is worth 2-8 points. Attending the zoom meetings are helpful if you have questions. He has a review before each exam and you get an idea of what to expect. The math is easy, but the conclusions get harder as you advanced on the course.
Arps was awesome!!! I only took this class for a short period of time but he was amazing. Gave great feedback on assignments and tests, his video lessons were engaging and well explained for all topics, and he gave many examples to help you better grasp content. Overall one of my favorite professors thus far.
One of the best teachers (if not the best) I've had! He is really accommodating and truly wants you to succeed and understand a difficult class. His lessons are very thorough and you will understand the material as long as you try. If not, he is super willing to help! Even in an online setting his caring personality is easily demonstrated.
Professor Arps is a funny guy, and his lectures are also good. Your grade is based mainly on the 6 exams, 80% of your grade and the assignments range from 1-8 points and are 20% of your grade. You will definitely need to study for the exams; the exams can be quite difficult with a few tricky questions, and they're proctored.
Professor Arps was amazing! The class was online, yet he recorded lectures for each lesson that were very clear to follow. He was easy to get a hold of if there were any questions, and he held weekly review Zoom sessions where he would go over any material. He gave great feedback and provided us with all the tools to do well on tests! 10/10
Very kind and knows how to teach. Perfect person to teach this class. Make sure you study. Will not pass if you don't. Answers any questions you have throughly.
Professor Arps made a hard topic easy to understand! I know I got a C in the class but that is an A in my book when it comes to stats and math. he makes the class fun and is really caring. He also gives lots of extra credit opportunities
