Really good Professor, friendly and helpful. He use to be a N.Y.C. Cop though, so don't think you will get away with ANYTHING. Still, he is very fair. Show up bring your articles and you should do fine.

Kevin Barrett is one of the best instructors I have had in a long time. He makes class so enjoyable and is incredibly funny. Gets you ready for tests and very little homework. I highly recommend his class, especially if you are undecided about criminal justice.

Mr Barret was a very cool teacher. I had a 3 hour class with him and it was pretty painless. He has an endless amount of funny stories because he has worked in thazt field for so long. He is an ex-cop. He as a cool New York accent too. the material was okay, kinda boring. i didnt really like the textbook.Mr Barret cares, like a father figure.

I took him for terrorism and criminology. by far the most influential prof I've ever had. Great man, willing to help. understanding, informative. interesting material. even better than the profs I've had at the UC level.

Mrs. Barrett is the coolest prof. at palomar. Hes really funny and makes the class interesting. Its and easy class but also go over the chapers in the text and you'll do good on tests.

Mr.B is by far the best professor at Palomar College. He truely cares about each and every student as well as making sure they learn the required material. He definately goes above and beyond to help his students. I highly recommend if you are a criminal justice major to take Mr. B.

KB is a very cool teacher. Once I took one class with him I vowed to never take another AJ class unless he was teaching it. He is very dedicated and loves what he does. If you don't take this guy for any AJ class then you fail. He is one of the funniest teachers i've ever had and his classes are just fun. His tests are straightforward and gives no homework, aside from an assignment or 2.

My MOTHER is the one who recommend I take him since she took his class back in 1994 and enjoyed his classes. Took him for AJ 100, and ALWAYS wanted to take him every semester as a kick-back class (also cuz law and criminal justice is very interesting to me even before I heard of him). Took him for AJ 103 and AJ 180. TAKE HIM!!

King Of BS he calls himself. Barret is so hilarious and knws his material. He's a smartass and if you dont participate he will make the class teach others. other than that dont get caught texting or he will get you embarrassed infront of the class. The tests are always the same as the ones before NO FINAL

He is a lot of fun. A lot of Stories and was easy to keep up with when taking notes. The only thing he liked to keep the class room cold

Mr Barrett is one of the greatest professors ive had at palomar. not only is he a good professor, but he is also a good person. Ive also taken AJ100 which was a great class.He is hilarious and will keep you entertained while you learn a lot of interesting stuff. He will also help you with just about anything.

Barrett was HILARIOUS and such a great teacher!! The class was easy, but you also learn a lot! He makes the information simple and is very helpful. He did review before and after each test. The final was not accumulative, which was nice. Even if you don't have an interest in criminal justice you should take his class, definitely worth it!

Barrett is the GREATEST teacher Palomar has to offer. Retired New York Police officer and total BADASS!!! I will take ANY class he teaches, he is the greatest teacher I have ever had. All you have to do is try, and participate in class and you will get an easy A.

He doesn't like when students don't try and I feel like it would be very hard to fail this class considering the tests are basically only the notes he gives us. Quizzes are EASY but he tries to trick you with trick questions like dates & a mix of words so STUDY AND PAY ATTENTION to his lectures. They mean a lot.

Overall he's a very funny guy. Makes the class exciting and keeps everyone on there toes of passing the class. His tests are a piece of cake. Extra credit saved me. I would take his class again if I have to and highly recommend taking classes with him.

This class is great. Mr. Barrett is like the teacher version of Rodney Dangerfield. Such a passionate guy, who really cares about how his students are doing. Almost like a grandfather figure it's hard not to like the guy. One summary of a current event article per week for homework and one two page outline as the final paper. Tests aren't too bad.

Mr. Barrett is hands down an amazing professor. He has lived it, seen it and done it all when it comes to law enforcement. He is hilarious and tells it like it is. By participation I mean: don't dawdle on your phone during class, eat smelly and loud food, or talk while he's talking. He commands and deserves the respect of a professor. Plus, just because he's funny and has great stories, you still need to take him serious enough to listen and study for the tests.

I am a retired science teacher who took Kevin Barrett's Criminology class just for the knowledge. This man is a role model to all instructors. He obviously cares about his students and wants everyone to succeed. His lectures are interesting and create an interest for learning in his students. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO ALL STUDENTS! He always says funny things and he has a background in law enforcement so if you take administration of justice he's the best teacher to have. He is probably my favorite teacher at Palomar College and I had for 3 classes now.

I had professor Barrett in the fall semester, and he was awesome. Out of the five classes I was taking his was my favorite. His lectures were educational, but he also told some funny stories relating to the material we were covering. If you take his class BE RESPECTFUL! He is a nice teacher, but he dose not take any bogus class work!!!

Honestly the best teacher at Palomar! Ive taken every class he teaches and he is phenomenal! Very clear about the material (occasionally gets side tracked during lectures), and genuinely cares about his students and your grades! Always there to help! The previous tests are all on midterm and final! Super easy to study and succeed!

Professor Barrett is one of the best teachers at Palomar! Most of the time his lectures are half educational (Powerpoint) & half personal stories that relate to the material. AJ100 consists of two quizzes, a midterm & final, weekly current events, & a 2 page "essay". He doesn't use Blackboard so if you want to know your grade just ask after class.

DO NOT EVER HAVE YOUR PHONE OUT IN CLASS! you WILL be dropped a grade point EACH TIME he CATCHES YOU! So long as you adhere to his cellphone policy he is a fantastic professor, very easy. Our final project was a double space 2 page outline. You only need to read about a total of 50 pages, and you almost always get out of class early. Take this Prof

Mr. B was by far the best teacher I have had in my 6 years of palomar. Be prepared to listen to the lectures and write notes and of course study for your tests and you'll be golden. Tests are all multipule choice except the final, which is half written, but if you study it should not be hard. I totally wish I could take more classes with him.

Mr. B is awesome! He has so much knowledge and truly cares about his students. You must attend class for lectures and put your phone away, but honestly you will want to go just to hear his personal experiences. Don't be afraid to ask questions, he is more than willing to help you. If you can, TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!! You will not regret it!

KB makes every second of class time count! If you're looking for an easy 'A' look elsewhere. His 'no nonsense' method is what has made me respect his manner even more. His lectures are on point with the subject matter. Miss a class and you'll need to catchup before moving on. He is well aware of what happens in class. Dont think otherwise.

I took the 3-hour class with Barrett and he made it survivable. He goes off on tangents, mostly "when I was young" stories but is still extremely funny. Let us out 30-40 minutes early most classes. The book is used only once for an in-class assignment.

He was an amazing teacher! I loved his class, the section about 9/11 was a bit interesting, because he was there. His story was just fascinating. I think that all in all he was one of my favorite professors that I will always remember. Just a fact about some classes, the answer on multiple choice that says 'all of the above' is mostly always right!

If you're looking for a Criminal Justice professor, Barrett is your man. He makes class fun, and has a lot of stories to tell. He does care about participation, but it is overall easy. He has no tolerance over lies, and he does not really like giving second chance, so take advantage of going to class. I highly recommend him for learning law!

KB is a great professor. Funny guy, can be a bit uptight at times and gets distracted easily, but overall he is very funny and entertaining and the class is very easy. Be respectful, do your work, be a good student and you'll be fine. Just 2 exams, 4 quizzes and one group project with a presentation. Easy A would take him again if I could.

KB is a very nice man. His lectures were good however I believe he broke off onto tangents a bit too often. I wasn't too bothered, as I was already very familiar with the subject matter. The textbook used for this class is trash. It reads like stereo instructions and is not well organized for getting the most out of it. They need a new text.

KB was by far my favorite professor at Palomar. He has a deep knowledge of law enforcement from both a military police perspective and street cop perspective. He makes every class fun and engages with students. I'm so stoked I got to have him for multiple classes.
