Very good prof. Very good looking. Entertaining, sense of humor. Really good class to take, fair grading. Would recommend taking a class from him!!
He is awesome if you want a prof in Religious Studies who keeps you interested take it from this guy. I am continouing on with Religious Studies just because of him.
Very good prof, knows how to keep things interesting when they could easily turn out to be very dry. Quizes have been fairly easy if you spend a lil time studying. He is very nice and very helpful, i would recoment this prof for any class he teaches!
Excellent Prof! I wasn't at all interested in Religious studies before this class, but now I would like to take another class from him. He is very smart and helpful. His classes are enjoyable. 3 quizzes, 1 term paper for the whole semester. Great class
Very helpful, interesting lectures with powerpoint, the great pictures are fun to see, very god prof, nice, and v. cute
Very good prof. In love with his material, makes it fun, and has a good sense of humour. Attend the classes and the textbook reading isn't very necessary. Would definitely take another class from him.
sooo good looking. He is the main reason why i even attend this class
this was my favorite prof and my favorite class ive taken in my 3 semesters of university. He is a very good professor and really cares that his class understands, he is truly in love with what he teaches and it makes you more interested. Quizes are pretty easy, not difficult to get above 80. if u can, TAKE A CLASS FROM HIM!!
great class. very very interesting very clear.
Amazing proff!! this guy knows what he is talking about and loves the topic. his classes are never boring and his class was the reason why i even came to school somedays.
Overall a pretty easy class. Three quizes covering 9 religions over the semester. An essay at the end worth 30% of your mark that i suggest start early on, because dumb TA's mark it and its bull. Final was pretty slack. Overall a pretty easy coarse that gave me a lot more knowledge about religions. I'd recommend the class to anyone.
EXCELLENT PROFESSOR! He explains religion in a fluent and organized way with a great sense of humour. If you have questions/need help he is willing to see you afterclass to discuss the issue. The workload isn't too bad, 3 quizes, an essay, and a final. This course definitely broadened my view about religion and made me throw out certain misconcepti
This is the second class I've taken from Kevin. He is extremely knowledgeable of the material, and you can tell that he has a lot of interest in it as well. His workload and marking criteria are fair. Too bad I'm convocating or I would take more classes from him.
HE WAS PROBABLY THE BEST PROFESSOR I HAVE HAD IN 3 YEARS OF UNIVERSITY. HE IS EXTREMLY INTERESTED IN WHAT HE TEACHES AND MAKES IT REALLY INTERESTING. HE IS ALSO PROBABLY THE HOTTEST TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD AND HE REALLY KNOWS HIS STUFF!!! I WILL TAKE AS MANY CLASSES FROM HIM AS POSSIBLE.
This is the third class that i have taken from Kevin and will definately try to take another from him in the future, i also took 207 and 290 from him. He is extremely knowledgable and fair, he loves to teach and it shows making you mnore interested.. if you have the chance TAKE A CLASS FROM HIM!!!!
A relatively good professor. Far too much reading, 15 pages per class. Also, too much work, 4 quizzes, 1 paper, an attendance mark, and a cumulative final exam. Class was really boring, he talks way too much, likes to show off his knowledge of the Japanese language, and he only uses powerpoint to show pictures, some notes would be very helpful!
I don't know why people think this guy is so awesome. He talks way too much and likes to show off how much he knows. Although the content is interesting, be prepared to answer really obscure questions on the 4 mini tests you will have to write. He can also be unclear about the concepts he is explaining. Know ALL the terms for tests!
Great sense of humour, and explains most things clearly. The quizzes were pretty easy if you showed up for class! Overall, quite interesting!
I would be surprised if anyone could not love this man! It was my favorite class by far. Bond is cute funny and cuts the crap, He knows the material and will get you interested.
Awesome prof. He's entertaining and he really knows his material so you feel confident paying attention. Quizzes are a piece of cake if you've attended the lectures, and there was only one short paper for the term. I'd highly recommend taking a class from him.
Excellent prof. Clearly loves what he's teaching and knows his stuff. Quizzes are easy if you attend the lectures.
this was one of my favorite classes this semester. He is a GREAT prof, loves what he's doing, and captures the classes attention. He uses lots of pictures, movie clips, and books as references, so you can relate to the topics. you get 5% if you just show up to class, and the quizzes and final are fair. definitely recommend him!
Great Prof! One of the best professors I have ever had. He is very helpful, he uses power points and his notes are clear and easy to understand. Attendence is mandatory(you get marks to show up), his test are easy if you study and the material is very interesting. Definetly take a class from him!
Very adequate prof. Everything was very straight forward and understandable considering it was a course on Buddhism. Fair marker. Knows his stuff.
not bad, lots of notes, he doesn't post the material, and there is a ton of reading, gave up on trying to stay caught up agter the first month. intersting class, good prof, just pick a good TA
Knows exactly what he's talking about. This is the second class I've taken from him and its looking like he structures them exactly the same. It'll be lecture style w/ a pwrpnt. You'll have a test each month and a 6-7 page essay due for the end of the semester. Tons of reading assigned but if you pay attention in class you'll be fine.
He loves Shinto, and it's largely focused on with his quizes.
He is a nice prof.BUT his quiz is soooo hard!I work my ass off but I only got 60%.He is very good looking though.
This class was really quite fun, The T.A's mark everything, but they are really friendly and approachable. Attendance is mandatory- if you miss two days in a row you're out of luck, Overall- excellent prof, excellent class.
Great Prof! Very Interesting class!
great class, he knew his stuff and knew how to teach it!
Very funny guy. Presents material in a very clear/concise method. Not overly helpful when it comes to papers. I went to him for help on the term paper and it was a waste of time.
Attendence for lecture is not mandatory but for seminars it is. The quizzes in the seminars were a bit confusing, not clear on what they're asking for. He's very thorough in his lectures; only one paper but 3 tests plus the final. Overall good prof but probably wouldn't take another class from him
He's funny and interesting as a person, but as a prof he's not the best one to take this class with. Compared to other RLGS 100 classes, be ready to work really hard. VERY picky! Lots of assignments. All the work his T.A. do. Can't say anything bad about him, but now, I would take this class with a different prof. He's good, but not the best one.
LOVE HIM. Taught the asian religion section of our class. His tests were extremely straight forward if you were actually at the lectures, and kept his lecturing very specific to what you needed to know. Even though he is a little uptight, I would highly recommend him.
AMAZING prof. Kind of a lot of work, there's a "quiz" for each section...although the quiz is long enough to be an exam. One large essay and three small ones plus the final. Only downside is he is so good looking it's hard to stay focused during lectures. haha. Other than that, he's top notch.
Amazing prof!! Concise, funny, and easy to look at. Very approachable and very helpful. He's the reason I'm minoring in Religious Studies. Only problem is he says right, A LOT! It's not overly annoying, but he averages 300+ a class. Doesn't make for a good drinking game.
Dr Bond keeps the material interesting. He expects you to keep up with the readings and gives 3 "quizzes" and 1 paper for the semester, which is very reasonable. Very down to earth and approachable outside of class as well. I would recommend taking a class from him... and he's easy on the eyes.
Clear lectures and assignments. Fair quizzes (3 worth 10% each). Does the lecture, but his TA's do the marking. Love this class! The reason I am continuing religious studies.
By far my favorite class that I have taken so far in University! The information was kept interesting and the class was definitely one I wanted to show up to everyday! I would suggest going to the lectures and the seminars, each class has useful information. TA's were AWESOME too! I strongly recommend this prof!
While his courses are incredibly easy he's actually a terrible professor. He spends most of his time repeating things and uses the exact same power points for different classes. He puts down students in front of the entire classroom. If you go to him for assistance he seems to rush through dealing with you.
Amazing Prof
Good prof. Not 'easy' but fair. A good elective but a decent amount of work. Make sure you study lots for the quizzes. The final exam is cumulative so prepare well. Also, a term paper and a popular religion assignment. Have to attend classes because he does not post his notes on UR Courses.
fantastic prof!! walked in the first day and thought he was ted mosby from HIMYM. very helpful and passionate even though some of the material can be super boring. very understanding and likes to make fun of the class for not playing video games and watching movies. like when ppl participate
Makes classes interesting because he is hot.. Quizzes are easy as he gives detailed outlines. Does not post slides, however textbook pretty much covers everything but in a little less detail. Highly recommend as i want to take another class from him
He's a nice prof, approachable. Fair marker. But in the end he had very hard quizzes. Got decent marks 70-80. But I studied lots for them. Compared to other Relig 100 classes, he had way more work. The quizzes were long enough to be exams & were quite tricky..I don't think I would take another class from him again
KEVIN BOND IS THE BEST !! fantastic prof ! the only class that I never missed in the whole semester ! absolutely recommend .. TAKE NOTES ! never read the textbook but took notes and got always 90s .. 3 quizzes 1 short essay and a final .. all his quizzes and exams are from the notes!
He is exactly like Ted Mosbey off of How I Met Your Mother. He looks exactly like him and talks like him. He is a great teacher and he will help you if you need. I felt like it would have been helpful to know a few things before taking this class.
Very easy, textbook is not necessary though it might help. Going to class is a must. GO to class, read over your notes a couple times before each exam and you will ace
Great Prof. Cares about what he teaches and wants you to understand. This class is enjoyable and you want to be there. One research essay, isn't hard, gives you lots of time. Three quizzes based entirely off lecture notes. final is a combo of all quizzes. great class, great guy. highly suggest taking this class!
Class was interesting. Quizzes are a good mark booster. Go to class and take good notes. You won't need the textbook, exams are based off class material. Good mixture of Q's on exam; fill in the blank, short answer.. Great guy and very knowledgeable on the subject. Doesn't use URcourses but if absent for legit reason he will send the slides.
Amazing prof who knows his stuff! Love his stories and experiences with the subjects he teaches. Classes are always great, marks fair and really gets you engaged in the material. I learned a lot from Dr. Bond and I would highly recommend him as a prof!
Dr. Kevin Bond is one of the most amazing professors I have had in my University career. He has exceptional knowledge in his field, he is an incredible instructor, and he is passionate about his work. He is helpful to students and gives excellent feedback. Absolutely one of my favorite professors.
i loved his class. he's an amazing prof. If I could, I'll take another class from him.
Kevin is probably the worst prof I've ever had. His quizzes are absolutely ridiculous. He tells you to study a list of 50 concepts, then you memorize them, and he'll ask you questions ABOUT the concept but not the actual concept itself. He was so rude too. I wasted my money. I thought this class would be interesting, but it was so dry. Avoid.
Dr Kavin is really awesome prof, I took RLST 100 and i would like to take another course with him, he is help full, and if English is your second language he will show you centers in the university where they can help you improve your essay. and when you go to his office he will try his best to explain the concepts to you. tumps up
Brilliant, best professor I've ever had. This class and this teacher inspired me to take Religious Studies as a minor. If you avoid Professor Bond, you're avoiding inspiration. Seriously.
I really enjoyed coming to class, it was interesting and funny and of course he's not as to look at either. If you need to take a religious class I recommend taking a class with him!
Dr. Bond was amazing. He was hilarious. His lectures were always super interesting. Only thing is you have reading quizzes so you need to do the readings. Theres a final paper worth 45% of your grade, and you need to be in class to understand it. The slides on line are explained in class. If you attend class, you're going to love it.
Made me see a side to Religion that I had never seen before. Fascinating stuff. Really interesting. I enjoyed it very much and never missed a class. The essay was a bit tricky but fun as well.
Kevin is really hard to approach. He also never responds to emails, which is why it's a good thing that William does. His lectures are sometimes interesting. TA's mark the first assignment and the quizzes so watch out.
If you're not interested in the certain topics discussed in RLST 100, or not paying attention because you are bored, you most likely won't do well in the class. 1 Research essay, 3 tests, based on the sections (units), no midterm, and a final. I found the tests really hard. Very hot prof though.
The essay is an unbelievable work! Quizzes are super hard!
Dr. Bond is by-far my favourite prof. His lectures were hilarious and informative, he tells you exactly what to expect on the tests and he is very personable. Dr. Bond is extremely helpful. Every time I had a question, he responded quickly by email and always pointed me in the right direction towards success. If you have the chance, take his class!
I took his class as elective to boost my GPA but I regret it. The work need to be done in this class is too much for a 100 class plus he marks hard especially in essays.
I have taken so much harder classes but this one is just so meh. It is even just a 100 level course but the load of work for studying for the quizzes (contains multiple choice, fill in the blank, enumeration, drawing, etc) and how picky the prof is for the essay (6 pages, Chicago style, etc) makes it more difficult. Prof makes it way hard! Regrets!
Monotone prof, hard to be interested in what he is talking about. Tough marker, expects a lot with it just being an entry level class. Had one midterm, paper and a final. Midterm was incredibly hard. Definitely turned me away from ever taking a class from him again. Must attend class in order to pass, and take a lot of notes
Readings and text not used. Lectures somewhat hard to understand the point.
He's extremely knowledgeable on the topic. If you're going to take his class make sure that you care about it. That means going to class, listening in lectures, and taking good notes. It's interesting stuff if you apply yourself and you'll do well if you care. He gives reviews for his quizzes and provides guidance for the essay. Smart guy!
If you are going to take Kevin's RLST class, make sure you have a genuine interest in what you are about to learn. This means going to class, taking half decent notes, and hearing his side comments. He is extremely knowledgeable, and he is super helpful and accessible after/out of class. He is quite funny as well. Easy to pass with minimal effort.
If you want to pass this class, read and understand the slides he posts. If you want to do WELL in the class, GO! You're paying insane money to take this class, and its an easy class to do well in. If you open the textbook every so often (or even just when you don't understand a concept), go to class and LISTEN, you'll thrive. Its an easy A!
Attendance is not mandatory, gives great feedback, pretty funny, very approachable and gives you detailed expectations which are easy to follow. Highly recommend taking a class from him.
Professor Bond is passionate when he lectures. He messed up a couple times on some questions for the first two tests and gave the class an extra 10%, pretty generous guy! Don't have your phone out during lectures because he will embarrass you, be respectful with this. Cares about the students & highly recommend if you want to learn about religion!
Overall this class was pretty good. You can tell he cares about his students and doesn't want you to fail - our midterm average was really low so he gave everyone an extra 5%, then added an extra 2% because two questions were wrong. Also gave everyone an extra 5% on our essays. Final was easy. Go to class, he gives lots of info that isn't on slides
He is a very knowledgeable professor and has a good sense of humour. It is important to go to class and take notes because he discusses things that are not on his slides. Don't use your phone during class because he will call you out. He is generous with his grading- he gave our class extra marks due to our low class average. I enjoyed his class!
Dr. Bond is super caring, and a nice guy in general. Do not be afraid of his fill in the blank questions- for some there are multiple acceptable answers!! Attend class, his slides have very little information. ALWAYS willing to talk extra, help you out, etc. One of my favs.
Kevin is a very passionate about what he does. His lectures are somewhat boring as he does not involve the class and basically talks the entire time. Class is somewhat mandatory, slides are posted but information can be accessed through the textbook. Only 3 tests and a final. Tests are 50 multiple choice and gave bonus marks for unclear questions.
I cant say enough good things about Dr. Bond. Hes an amazing prof, very caring, willing to meet with students outside of class time to go over any questions, it is obvious he cares about his students especially if you put in the effort. His lectures (and looks) are so good you actually want to go to class which definitely makes it easier.
This prof is extremely passionate about this teachings. He enjoys this stuff and has a lot of knowledge to share. He is fair and generous. If you attend class and write notes you'll pass the class. (Pretty simple)
I loved taking Dr Bond's class! He's very interesting to listen to, and very approachable. I will absolutely be taking more classes by him in the future! Definitely recommend RLST 201 ghost, monsters and demons. Great class!
Dr. Bond is very passionate teaching the course. However, his lectures can be boring as he is monotoned. He also has a very strict policy in class and don't ever take pictures of his slides. Take this class if you really want to know more about religion. Kevin was great overall.
gives reviews for every quiz or exam so you know exactly what is being tested. dont let him see you on your phone or taking pictures of powerpoints or he will call you out in front of everyone. overall good prof with insightful lectures
Class has an essay, midterm, final and small 5 min presentation on your paper. His tests are multiple choice and fill in the blank but most of these arent just one word answers, theyre more like short answer so its not as easy as it seems. Hes a great prof and tests were fair but says a lot more than whats on the slides so go to class!
Dr Bond is truly passionate about his job and it reflects in lectures. Attend class as he does not offer a lot on the slides. Reading the assigned textbook helps immensely. Sometimes gets off track but it's because he seriously loves talking about religious studies. Very fair grader and easy exams if you studied; two midterms and a final.
Pretty nice prof. Focuses on Asian religions which is very interesting. Class was graded on 4 quizzes and a final. Quizzes were not hard. His slides and readings are helpful for the quizzes. The final is not hard either. Overall nice prof who knows what he's teaching.
Kevin is a great prof and really cares about his students. Very knowledgable in his studies and is clearly passionate about his work. Class involves a lot of writing as well as 4 MC quizzes. Would recommend as an elective. Kevin can be a bit monotoned sometimes which can make lectures seem long but he is a great person overall
Kevin was a great professor for Buddhism, he expected attendance in class to be successful but if you showed up and put effort in he cared to help and educate you. Kevin also made many accommodations for extra study sessions for each test in the class which was very helpful and kind of him!
Show up to his classes, take notes and you will succeed. He provide a sheet for key terms and exam questions for exams in class - those helped alot. One has to still put in effort to prepare for exams. Use Midterm exams to prepare for final.
Kevin was a great prof! He does not post the slides in advance which can be tricky for taking notes as a lot of his lectures are explaining the pictures or examples from the slides
I do think that Kevin Bond has a plethora of knowledge, and a clear passion for his research. However, I did find him to be slightly condescending and he was rather pessimistic and grumpy during the majority of the lectures. It felt as though he didn't really want to be teaching a lecture most days.
He is a wonderful professor. Very friendly. Classes are so easy but you will have to study. Its so easy to get marks if studied well. Attend the class regularly.
Kevin is an amazing prof. He gives you study sheet and long answer question before midterms and final.
The prof is nice and really supportive. Just the class was very hard for me. I personally enjoyed the class and the prof made it very fun! He is a wonderful human. I only struggled with understanding the content but otherwise he is a great person.
