Very Hot, but hard and not helpful.
let me say something helpful... he is hard, have to know a lot. back quizzes help but he recently started to mix them up. quizzez every week . he doesn't smile or joke
This guy isn't too bad..expects you 2 know your stuff though. Best bet is to study the powerpoints! No curves or E.C
This guy is difficult make sure to study your powerpoints the test are directly from there. His lectures are very boring and there isn't much interaction in the classroom. He will help you if you ask him but he doesn't give curve or give extra credit.
tests are hard and doesnt give curves or EC.
His class is hard and you really need to study. He is a great professor and is more than willing to help you. He likes to see that you're putting some effort into the class.
He speeds through ppts in class so if you dont have them with you, you cant take notes. His tests are insanely hard and even his quizzes require hours of studying. If you take this class, make sure you have a very easy workload so you can devote all your time to this class. I would NOT reccommend him to others
Horrible teacher! His tests are ridiculously hard, so are his quizzes. Lectures are extremely boring with him whipping through power points mumbling the whole while. He's not helpful at all, I went him for help on what to study for his tests because his study guides don't help and he basically told me it was my problem to figure out DON'T TAKE HIM!
not sexy
not sexy. really hard. says a 70 average is about right for every test (aka not passing for most majors). makes you memorize millions of words in 45 minutes for lab then tests you on them.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS! you basically have to sell your soul! the only way to pass is to memorize your textbook forwards and backwards. Unless you want to study non-stop 24 hours each day then do not, i repeat do no take this class
worst teacher i've had so far at widener. does not know how to teach to save his life. reads the powerpoints in class doesnt explain them and puts you right to sleep. his voice is monotone the whole lecture. even after studying for hours you wont pass his tests or quizzes. hes impossible and he doesnt seem to care if the whole class is failing.
WORST Professor I ever had! He honestly doesn't care if you pass or fail. Taking his class was the worst semester of my life. Everything is hard and you teach yourself. He doesn't help you and even when he says he will do one thing for you does another. Study guides are worthless. Quizzes and test are impossible! I would NEVER recommend him!
i absolutly hated him. he was the worst teacher i have every encountered in my life. i would rater drop out of college then have him as a teacher again. i would never reccomend him to anyone. RUN RUN RUN RUN away from him as fast as you can. t least 30 kids dropped this semester. makes you have nervous breakdowns. and hes socially awakard/no help
the worst teacher in the world. wait, you cant even call him a teacher cause he doesnt TEACH. does not care if you fail. not sympathetic towards anything. is taking out on his students his terrible life. wont give you any help at all. never met a teacher that didnt want his students to succeed. rude and uncaring. worst person ever.
worthless, uncaring, basically wants students to fail, useless, the most terrible person anyone has ever come in contact with at this school. dont know how he is still teaching at widener. tests and quizzes are impossible. no way to take this class along with another five classes. could careless about his students. hate him more than anything.
words can't describe the torture this man puts you through. if you like having absolutely no social life and love living at the library until it closes every single night then your going to love him. he thinks that a 60 average is good and refuses to interact with students. the a&p material is hard to begin with and boyer makes it IMPOSSIBLE
life ruiner and doesn't even care. doesn't have the common courtesy to answer an email about your grades & the help you might need. if you have to take him for the anatomy classes during the school year, drop it and take it over the summer at another school. he is the worst person in the world. never met a more disrespectful and uncaring teacher.
if i wrote how i really feel about this man the website would delete it... dont ever take him even if forced. i'd rather transfer then have to take this thing again.
dont even try to get him fired cause it doesnt work. everyone already tried. just avoid him entirely.
Im Fred. people think that Boyer is difficult, but I think he is not. he really knows the material and presents it from the top of his head during lecure. he is strait when it comes to his grading. he will tell you everything u need to know about his essay questions and the multiple choice questions as well. when it comes to his lecturem, if u real
So I will admit, I haven't had him as a teacher, but I know him outside of his carreer at widener, and already had the negative feelings about him that so many posters already stated. I have also heard him say that most college teachers don't care if you pass or fail, which I think is wrong, but after reading this I have a feeling its right for him
Horrible teacher! He just stands there and reads from ppts. word for word in his boring monotone voice. Tests are impossible no matter how long you study, study guides are a joke (NOT HELPFUL) and he doesn't care. He once told our class that he didn't care if we failed because it's what kept him employed in the summer. Real class act...RUN!
GO TO EVERY CLASS, OFFICE HOURS AND STUDY STUDY STUDY...THIS CLASS REQUIRES ALOT OF TIME AND ATTENTION BUT IF YOU CAN DEDICATE YOUR SELF IT WILL PAY OFF AND DO THE CHAPTER OBJECTIVES THEY ARE TIME CONSUMING BUT THEY DO HELP.
honestly, all the people that write bad things about boyer probably shouldnt be taking anatomy in the first place. this is the course where you are first tested to see if you can handle nursing/PT. the class is hard, but its due to the material, not the teacher. true, he is monotone, but he really knows his stuff. fair grader, but YOU MUST STUDY
Reads ppts created by txt book publisher VERBATIM for ENTIRE lecture. Knows he has stdnts by the balls-mandatory course for health sciences majors(sections VERY limited). Be prepared, don't be intimidated or preface questions with,"This is a stupid question.." Condescending to community students considering he makes $ from them. Why?
I really liked him. He is a fair professor and was very helpful to me. Quiz and exams were hard but fair. Anatomy is no joke with alot of material and info. I would deffinitly recommend him. He is great if you really want to learn and take it seriously. He tells you what to study for the quiz and what you need to know for the essay questions.
In all honesty, he seems like a cool dude but his teaching style is simply setting students up for failure. He tells you one thing is going to be on a test and its something different. I have never studied so hard for a class and still end up with a low B/high C. Other profs who teach A&P arent as bad (this is at DCCC) so if you can, AVOID BOYER!!
BARELY got a B, tests are impossible even if you spend every second you have studying, you'll think you're ready for the tests but you NEVER will be, he'll tell you what to study for quizzes but don't take his word for it..study everything. On a positive note, he does grade everything quickly; however you will not get the actual test back to review
Very good teacher. No surprises on his tests and they are somewhat challenging but fair. If you go to class, take notes, and study well, you will be fine for his tests.A&P has so much info and there is only so much you can do, and he does a very good job explaining everything. The majority of the class depends on the amount of effort you put into it
I failed his A&P I and have him for A&P II now, and have a B. I learned from my mistakes last semester. Go to class every day with his lecture powerpoints printed out, do the learning objectives, and STUDY (DONT CRAM) and you will do fine. Be ready to dedicate alot of time to this class!
HORRIBLE. 70% are failing. No guidance of what to focus on),speaks in a monotone voice, and flies through slides(whole book). No test review ever. Puts most difficult and obscure stuff on the test, asks ques in a tricky way, choices all similar. Tuitoring non-existent. Condescending,Quiz exam-like, Compreh final.Does not care if you pass or fail RUN!
Shame on you Widener for still having this guy as the only A&P professor you have, with all the complaints you get about him year after year, how many students he has intentionally failed... These are good students most with scholarships and A/B Averages he fails...You should refund everyone the $5000.00 they paid for this course! SHAME on you!!!
One of the hardest classes and he doesnt help at all. Will go through over 100 slides in a 50 min. class period and tests are based off slides, textbook, and minor things he may utter during lecture. He's a bit more helpful in lab but still not one of Widener's finest.
The worst. He does not limit what he will put on an exam, even if it covers 4 chapters. most people end up having to retake the course. Easily the worst teacher at Widener.
Boyer is really a great prof! He is thorough and prepares us well. Study hard.
He is not as bad as everyone makes him out to be. Is it a hard class? Yes. Do you have to study a lot? Yes. But it's not impossible to pass. If you think you're only gonna go to half the classes and cram two nights before the exam then yes, you will fail. If you're having trouble go to his office hours, he's very helpful. Study hard you'll be fine.
He's not as bad as everyone says. Yes, this class is very hard, it takes a lot of time and a lot of work, but you have to put in the effort. If you don't pass your not putting the time in. His tests are very hard study youll be fine
Do not put yourself through major stress! Take it at another school. Literally, I could spend the whole week studying and still get a D on a test. He puts the most minor details on the test and the lab quizzes are equally hard. Many people are dropping out, and it's pretty sad that he's seems relatively unaffected and even happy people are dropping
Boyer, is an extremely nice guy, if you need any type of accommodation (esp athletes) he has no problem letting you take an exam later. The class is extremely hard, but its the information not the professor, if you go to him with questions at any time during his office hours or his labs at night, he is MORE than happy to help you learn/pass.
I'd rather have him that vatnick that's for sure. He's hard to say the least.
He is a terrible professor, his tests are impossible. They are set up all multiple choice, if u don't k ow one answer you don't know the next ten. There is also material on the test that you will have never seen before. He doesn't go by the text book or his learning objectives. He has a little pass rate, better to take it with another professor.
Best thing to do is take anatomy I and II somewhere else. He is a terrible professor. Will not help you, his tests are impossible, they are not based on the notes, power points, learning objectives, or on the book. It's based in little things that he mumbles during lecture. You will be happy I'd u get a 30 put of 100 on the test.
He is a super totes awesome professor. His voice is exquisite and his tests are totally swell. Some of the jive people are saying just isn't true. This man is one hundred fifty percent a marvelous addition of wonder to the world of anatomy. Take this righteous guy if you want an awe-inspiring learning experience.
Boyer is a great professor! He's very nice and helpful. The class itself is hard, because there is a lot of material to cover. He tries to help out with that though. The people who say he is a terrible professor are those who don't apply themselves and fail the class because they don't take it seriously.
Boyer is a good professor. Anatomy was so interesting and I loved it but his tests are challenging. If you work hard and study everyday, you'll do fine. It's all about finding the right study method for you and once you find that, you can achieve the grades that you want. Get on Boyer's good side/make him laugh and he won't see so intimidating!
HORRIBLE DO NOT TAKE HIM! TAKE A&P 1&2 SOMEWHERE ELSE
hottie
Dr. Boyer is a great professor. He is very clear, gives great insight into the material, and is a fair grader. He was fine giving me an extension in an emergency and bumped me up to an A- when I was .03% short - very reasonable. There is a lot of material in the class so it pays to use as many tricks as possible to learn it. The book is helpful too
Awesome professor; challenging course.
Boyer is a professor, not a teacher. I learned from the book and my tutor. He is willing to help student, but he flies through information and is always a few chapters ahead than the upcoming exam. How can you obtain that information while concentrating on your upcoming exam?
I've never failed a class in my life, all of my other courses I took along with a&p I had all As in, but he is not a good teacher. This is a challenging class and he does nothing to help you succeed in it. He flies through information and when I went for help he was rude. I woud not recommend take it somewhere else.
I did not do to well in A&P 1 but that was mainly because i wasnt going to his lectures or studying, i did however just receive a B for A&P 2. He is not a bad professor it is the subject which is difficult. if you go to his lectures all the time and read from the book you will be fine. If you need help he was more than happy to go over stuff.
Took A&P 1 and 2 with prof Boyer. Lectures are pretty boring and hard to keep up with because he goes through the material quickly... Its not the prof thats bad its the course.. there is a lot of material to go over and if you don't study every day your screwed. Tough, just know have to manage your time well and know how to study and you'll be good
He talks too fast and is very all over the place when he lectures so I recommend recording the lectures and listen to them after class or when studying to fill in the gaps in your notes. He's not the nicest guy in the world and can be pretty rude sometimes. He's not unreasonable at all though, the tests are doable if you study hard.
This class was extremely difficult, Boyer is a great professor and knows what he is talking about but he is very in depth with his lectures so pay attention. You're going to have to read the book to understand anything he is talking about, start off strong because theres not catching up.
Heard a lot from upper classmen to beware. In person, he is intimidating. But had him for lab and lecture, and he is a VERY good professor (especially with office hours) and provides many opportunities to ask questions if you don't understand. No extra credit whatsoever, so read the book and takes notes! Do not slack in the beginning!!
he's insanely smart and you will learn a lot in his class. but you have to go to class and study regularly. he's always more than willing to help and his tests aren't as bad as people say they are as long as you put the work in. the class is difficult no matter what teacher you have.
He is good at lecture and he does focus on certain elements he knows are going to be on the exam. If you struggle, go to his office hours it will help indefinitely and use the mastering my study area to help prepare for exams. The lab he doesn't take as seriously the only way i found that out was by taking marengo. She is so much better for lab!
Boyer seriously knows what he's talking about. One of the most knowledgeable professors I've ever had. Yes, anatomy is a hard subject to master, but if you put in the effort it's completely doable. Boyer practically lives at Widener during the school year and he has plenty of office hours to go to if you ever need some extra help.
Boyer is one of the worse teachers I have had. Not only is he so rude, he really doesn't care how you do in class. You ask him a question and he responds "you should know that." He only uses pictures as his lecture slides with no words allowing you to learn, you must teach yourself everything. If you have a choice take a different anatomy teacher!
He knows what he's talking about but what he talks about in lecture is not what is on the exams so you need to read the textbook in a lot of depth. He does not care if you pass the class or not and does not really want to help you out if you need it, this is an on your own type of class
He is extremely helpful outside of class and knows what he is talking about. If you pay attention in class and go to him for help you will receive a decent grade. Keep on top of the material as you go and do not wait until the week of the exam to start studying. I did way better in his class than Marengo's for Anatomy 1, so no she is not "easier."
The worst. Only talks with powerpoints that are all pictures, NO words so you miss a word your screwed because he talks so fast. Told me he doesnt care if us students pass or fail :) if you have the opportunity avoid him!
Hes very initimidating and if you do not read the textbook in a lot of depth you will not do well. What he talks about in his lectures is basically useless because it is not on the exams.
Tests are extremely hard. Lecture is unnecessary. You are better off teaching yourself.
Boyer knows what he is talking about, but he knows it too well to teach it because he expects you to know it as well as he does in one semester. So much work, lectures arent mandatory but he is the type if he doesnt see your face he is not a fan. He talks so fast in lecture no words on his power points and basically tells you to read the text book.
You must teach yourself everything and test are extremely hard.
Very hard professor. His powerpoints are pictures taken right from the textbook and expects you to learn everything on your own. Nothing from lecture is on the exams as he only briefly touches the surface of what you need to know. Everything else comes from the textbook. His lab quizzes are pretty straightforward but the exams are very difficult.
Quizzes are a lot more straightforward than exams. Exams are very hard. I would read out of the textbook to help. Lectures are boring and there is a lot of material to learn. He only uses pictures on power points so listen carefully. You need to study a lot or you wont pass. He is very smart and knows what hes talking about but doesnt teach well
If you want to pass Boyers A&P classes you need to read the textbook!! I took him for AP2 and failed. Retook it again w him and I remember I got a 93 on the first exam !!! because I literally would read and reread those textbook pages every single day. Flashcards are not the answer for this class. His questions are detailed so READ THE BOOK
Teach yourself. Spend hours a day doing so.
worst teacher ive ever had unnecessarily hard exams and close to impossible to receive an A on exam unless you are studying every second of your life. Transfer before you even try passing this class.
God I don't even know where to start about Boyer. I will admit that I am not the best student but even then I have NEVER failed a class in my whole life. He is very unfriendly and only teaches you with pictures from the textbook. If you ask him for help he gets upset. I would study so hard for his tests only to get a 57% at the highest. Beware.
He is actually generally a very nice person. You can tell that he has no tolerance for messing around but he is willing to work with students that struggle. His tests are definitely difficult so you really need to read the textbook multiple times. The tests are hard but not unreasonable. You need to put time and effort into this class.
Kevin Boyer is one of the hardest and most spoken about professors on campus and not in the best way. At the same time he is given the task to deliver very challenging material necessary to your future profession in most cases. Although his entire class is lecture based, that info is usually different than on the test. I mostly had to teach myself.
I had to take this class TWICE and I barely passed the second time. He gets mad when no one asks questions in class but is extremely rude if you email him afterwards to ask something. His homework assignments take an hour and a half MINIMUM. All of the tests are based off the book and barely anything from lectures.
Worst professor I have ever had. He will give you minimal help if you go to his office hours but not much. Attendance is not mandatory so I would not even bother showing up because his lectures are useless. Does not give you guidance on what will be on exams. You have to read every page of the textbook in depth and really understand it to pass
His lectures teach only 10% from each chapter. He does not give enough time on his exams and none of the test questions can be found online. If you do not read the text book you will fail the course because the textbook is your main and only learning tool. Lectures are basically useless.
The course material in itself is not hard, but, boyer rambles when he talks and never gets to the point of anything he is saying. He is so rude when you reach out for help and his powerpoints are horrible. All that is included in lecture slides are pictures. The only good thing is that the exams are not proctored so less stress when taking them.
Boyer is a very nice person, his teaching method is simple, put in the effort and you'll be fine. The tests/lab quizzes are hard but not unreasonable. His tests are definitely not easy so you really need to read the textbook and you'll be fine. You need to put time and effort into this class. He wants to help but you need to reach out for help.
I'm not sure WHY he's still here! He seems to take pleasure in the fact I'am an intellectually disabled student, and when I attempt utilize my accommodations that are MANDATED by the law; he seems to resent it like I'm getting over or something. He's rude and arrogant! I hope he leaves this school soon!
Worst professor at Widener. Not sure how after 30 years he even still has a job here when hes been on academic probation 3 times and kids fail his class left and right every semester. He laughs when you fail and is very obvious that he doesnt care if we pass or fail! As a university im disappointed they don' see the patterns that arise with Boyer
He was so bad. I wanted to give him a zero but thats not possible. So I give him, a 1.
50 minutes of straight lecture, be prepared to type your notes bc you won't be able to keep up with him if you write them. He never interacts with the class to make sure everyone is understanding and never leaves time to ask questions. Hardly puts any grades in and the exams are horrible. Use the mastering study are to attempt to prepare for tests.
This was lab, so if you don't show up you fail. HOWEVER, Kevin Boyer is actually one of the worst teachers I've had. He expects us to come to class every week and know the material like the back of our hand in excruciating detail, a level of detail that is not nearly required on the exams during the semester. Plus, a cold and unwelcoming presence
This was the lab portion of A&P1. Boyer is the professor that makes the practical so it is good to hear it from him so you know what to expect. He wants you to work hard and know the material but is helpful when you are completing the lab and will point out exactly what he wants you to know. He only grades the reports on completion.
Do not take this class. Seriously. All he does is lecture off of PowerPoints that are just pictures, and it is so boring and not interactive. He is also very rude when you email him asking for help. His homework assignments all take at least an hour and are barely any points. I studied everything I possibly could and barely passed this class. Awful
Best professor for anatomy lab. He makes the practicals so its easier to get help from him. Lab quizzes are easy as long as you look over the slides and the lab. He is very helpful when completing the labs and answers any questions you have.
He's just rude when you ask questions. His lectures are all pictures and talks fast so its really hard to understand this course
The tests would literally be on anything but the content we learned in lecture or on the textbook. The questions would come out of nowhere and no one did well on them yet he never curved anything.
I do not recommend taking him. His lectures don't match the Pearson work, he makes the exams him self which makes it 10 times harder. his office hours are not that good, he does not explain things well. He talks really fast his lectures are to fast. overall don't take his class at all. Just a big NO overall.
People have their opinions for Dr.Boyer and I was honestly really scared going into it. He obviously isnt the best professor out there but he does know what he is talking about. If you do get stuck with him it is what it is but study off of the textbook!! The textbook is where he gets his exams from and if you work for it youll pass
I would absolutely not take him again, even though I have to for AP2... So sad, If you have him, then good luck. People use your textbook and YouTube. He's not very helpful, and you have to ask him specific questions if you're lost.
He just made the class way harder than it needed to be. Doesn't give good notes. Exams are impossible. Study guides don't help. Almost seems like he just doesn't want his students to pass. Definitely take another professor if you can!
Lab wasn't bad. Just study your lab reports and you'll be set for the quizzes. The quizzes aren't difficult when you're prepare for it. You need at least 3 days to fully study. Also, he's very helpful during office hour. also GET an IPAD. he lets us turn in work from the iPad. Goodnotes ate down. You may low-key suffer without an iPad for lab.
great for lab... exams are extremely hard for lecture... goodluck
He was very helpful if you asked him clarifying questions. He will not hold your hand through things, but that's not his job. An amazing teacher. His lectures were very helpful for me, and he as very animated which made it easier to engage. Doesn't like students who complain and don't take steps to help themselves. Would always take him for A&P lab
I had Dr. Boyer as a nursing student for A & P 1 and 2. Although his class is hard, it was worth it. If you put the time outside of class in, you will be able to succeed and do well. He is very knowledgable and his lectures are engaging and very helpful with learning what you read in the textbook. If I could I would take Dr. Boyer a third time.
Avoid this class if possible. The lectures are fast-paced, with little interaction, and the exams are extremely difficult. However, using resources like unstuck AI and the textbook can help offset the challenges.
Buddy can kick rocks. Horrible teach
very very hard professor, avoid if possible. Expects students to know way too much information that is almost impossible. Lab practicals are impossible to study for considering how much are on them and what he expects from you.
He is an amazing lab professor, not so great with lecture for me at least. He makes concepts harder to grasp in my opinion. Would take again for lab not lecture.
I highly recommend taking Boyer for the lab. He's very helpful with dissections and takes time to re-explain concepts. However, the lab quizzes and practicals are pretty challenging. Some useful resources on campus include the bone box in the library and muscle models in Kirkbride. Additionally, there are detailed quizlets that can be very helpful.
I had him for both lab and lecture. He is an amazing lab professor and is very hands on with lab. Lecture not so much, very fast paced and makes concepts more difficult to understand than they are. I suggest steering away for lecture but take him for lab, he makes the practicals.
People may say not to take Boyer but I would say its worth a try. As long as you pay attention in class for both lecture and lab, you will be fine. Be sure to write notes and flashcards on the material as it will be easier to retain information. The only bad thing is his attitude but I think it just depends on the day he is having.
