Dr. Brown definitely makes you think. Work load is not difficult, but he definitely challenges you intellectualy. I liked him, therefore I signed up for him again next sem. for ENG II. You have to read a good bit, but, reading is very intresting. My suggestion- take him.
Great Professor, has about one paper due per week. Has multiple reading assignments, there are 5 question quizzes over your reading. Any assignment I have read, I have received all five points on the quiz. Most papers are one page, he has three 4 page essays.
Dr. Brown is one of the best professors that I've had in my three years at Lee. He really genuinely cares about his students. He loves to teach and he knows his stuff. He made class interesting- and it was one that I hated missing. If I could take him again- I would.
Dr. Brown is an awesome professor. I really enjoyed his Rhetoric and Research class. He raelly makes you think for yourself. There's only one thing that I want to know....why does he wear all black?!
Easy teacher, enthusiastic about what he's teaching. Makes some strange jokes, so that will keep you awake in his class, due to people not speaking up and being more assertive. Otherwise, tests & quizzes are easy if you do the reading.
He may be funny, but he is not a good teacher.
Awesome teacher that is really funny and entertaining. His class is the only one that I don't fall asleep in.
Study for his tests and come to class. It makes all the difference. Great guy, funny in a cheesy sort of way
He's alot of fun. One of the few classes i actually enjoyed attending. His class has a very layed-back atmosphere. It's not a very hard class and he's always willing to help. Attendance is important to him. I'm taking him again. Only one bad thing: i still don't know why he wears all black.
it IS impossible to get an A in his class

He is hilarious- very cheesy but funny. He can relate to the students and his class is interesting. If you study and read, you will do fine
Dr. Brown is the most wonderful teacher ever. He creates an open learning environment which allows for true learning. He is concise about what he wants and explains what is required of his students extremely well. He is not an easy teacher, but I believe that is a good thing he urges you to truly learn.
I took him for 110, and I loved his class. I got an A but you do have to do the work and be dedicated to the class. Dr. Brown is dedicated to his students and genuinely there to help anyone who needs help.
UM YEAH
Tries to be funny but fails. It gets old. But good teacher. I don't think he's that hard at all. Maybe I am just too dumb to realize it.
One of the best here at Lee!
He's a good teacher who knows what he's talking about. He's a great guy, even though he wears the same thing every day. I highly recommend taking him.
Dr. Brown is amazing! I have learned so much from him and grown so much as a person just by being ins his class. In 311/312, Be prepared to take daily quizzes on the readings, write 1-page papers once a week, take 3 Exams, and write a 10-page research paper. It's worth it! The class is excellent!
great guy, very approachable! and no joke, I totally saw him wearing BROWN a few weeks ago! I was like WHOA.... Its not black! lol
Dr. Brown was very passionate about every author that we covered in his class [even though every author was boring and pointless for the most part] He is nice and kind, and if you have a problem he tries his hardest to help you out.
Great Teacher. Highly Recommend.
He's a fun teacher. Makes the class interesting. Has extremely corny jokes and punns, but took him for both my required english classes cause he made it interesting. Hard to get a 100 or even an A sometimes on papers but try hard and you'll do fine in the class. Great and fun teacher.
Very cool teacher. Very relaxed class. In 106 you'll have essays to read just about every class, and quizzes. Quizzes are easy, then the rest of the class is discussion (that you won't be tested on =D ) So just show up, he is very helpful at confresses. Go to writing center, get B's on the paper and quizes/other will get ya an A.
Dr. Brown is one of my favorite professors at Lee. He is a great guy and a cool person to talk to. He is always available for help. He is extremely fair in his grading once after he tells you what he wants out of a paper. He makes corny jokes and its fun to make jokes back at him.
Dr. Brown is one of my favorite professors at Lee. Even though he is rather odd and tells lame jokes, he is a great teacher. He is extremely helpful when it comes to papers, however, he is a hard grader. I definitely recommend to take his class!
Highly reccommend Dr Brown. Easy class, ENG 222. Fun guy and class but his jokes are quite corny and lame; which make them even more hilarious.
Easy class to take with him, just come to class & listen to what he has to say. Do your homework, & you are set to make a good grade.
his class is extremely interesting and rather easy if you go to class and read the assignments. He is a funny guy who loves his horrible puns. he dresses in all black all the time. I learned alot in his class, and want to take him again! It made me love my major..English!!
Dr. Brown is one of the best English professors at Lee. He is very approachable and eager to help. He is a hard grader, but you learn alot from him. He tells corny jokes that are so bad you have to laugh at them. He dresses in all black, and the reason behind such attire is a mystery. All in all, a fantastic teacher. I recommend him highly!
Okay, let's just go ahead and state the obvious. He is extremely nerdy; but Dr. Brown is very kind and helpful to his students. The reading was EXTREMELY interesting and I looked forward to reading them. He provides the reading material and the only book you had to buy was the Wadsworth handbook. I strongly recommend Dr. Brown.
Dr. Brown is a fantastic teacher who really cares about the success of his students. He is slightly a hard grader, but you learn a lot from him. He tries to be funny, and it is that trying that makes him hilarious. He really knows his stuff and he makes sure you know it before you finish the class. Very dedicated and all in all a great teacher!
Dr. Brown is an awesome teacher. He makes jokes all the time and you can't help but laugh. He's very passionate about his subject. Expect to have daily quizzes on the reading and about 8 one-page papers along with two longer ones. It's a fairly easy class but you must keep up with the reading.
Very helpful proffesor. attendance is mandatory if you want to get a good grade. the readings for the class are extremely interesting and you learn alot. If you come to class, do the readings and ask for help when writing papers you will do great. Make friends with him. he's a nice guy
Dr. Brown is a solid academic professor, but doesn't grade everyone on the same scale, so don't fall on his bad side. There is a lot of writing for his class(es) so be prepared. Many who are not do not do well, but often receive a similar grade to those graded harshly.
Dr Brown is my least favorite of all teachers I have ever had, I was one of the few who he graded harshly, I had him for two semesters and tried hard to befriend him, He ruined my GPA, and left me extremely discouraged and doubtful of my English skills I became depressed and failed all my classes and left the university largely because of Dr. Brown
Dr. Brown is a great teacher! He is really funny and teaches material that is interesting and relevant. There is a lot of reading and a lot of writing, but as long as you keep up it is easy to make an A. He is probably the best Rhetoric teacher at Lee.
He is such a wonderful even professors not in his department suggest him. He is funny and fun to talk with. h=His class is easy and he has no tests. You write three papers and take a few quizzes, but it is not hard. The material is interesting and enjoyable, nothing boring. He is tied for my favourite teacher.
Dr. Brown exerts a lot of effort into his classes. The effort is two-fold because he is a great teacher, but he is very tough when it comes to grades. Also, the class was a lot of work for a required introductory course. Take someone else for an easy A. However, he is a great professor.
Dr. Brown raises the bar when it comes to advisor feedback, helpfulness, and making you feel totally welcome! He never belittles you for any questions asked, nor tires of them. He is an excellent professor-passionate about lit, knowledgeable, quirky, funny--makes class enjoyable. His grading is tough; you must put in the effort. Highly recommended!
Wonderful Teacher
Dr. Brown is absolutely the best teacher I've ever had. He's challenging, but the kind of challenging that makes you want to be better. I've learned more in this class than the total of my other English classes combined. Amazing professor!
Dr. Brown is a really great professor. He has a sense of humor, and I enjoyed attending his class. There was quite a bit of reading; nightly reading for the first month, but the stories were interesting. He wants to help in anyway he can and is quick to respond to emails. I recommend Dr. Brown!!
I really loved Dr. Brown's class. The class was comprised of four papers, I was always entertained and learned a lot. Definitely take Dr. Brown if you have a change!
Dr. Brown is the best professor I have had. He is really funny and clear in what he presents and wants. If you want to learn something and think about life you have not thought before take his class!
Dr. Brown is so funny! There are 3 longer papers in the class but you get plenty of time for them and all the help you need!
Dr. Brown is the bomb. Yeah, you have to read for nearly every class but it's all narrative, so it's easy to follow. There are also 3 papers but they're very doable. The class was pretty fast paced but not so much that you can't handle it. He's very kind and helpful. It also doesn't hurt that he is hilarious. I would definitely recommend him.
Dr. Brown is hard but his classes are worth it. He's a tough grader when it comes to papers, but he will help you fix your rough drafts and make them into excellent papers. His exams are extremely easy as long as you do the reading. He's funny and makes literature relevant as well as interesting. Also, he really cares about his students. Great guy.
Dr. Brown is the man! Yes, he can be quirky and a little annoying at times, but he is really there for his students, whether you need to talk about life or the 8 page final paper, he is there to listen and help in any way possible.
I took Dr. Brown awhile back- I graduated from Lee in 2007. I remember Dr. Brown as one of my favorite Profs. He was interesting and funny (at least I thought he was). Some of the material we covered was not the most interesting, but he made it bearable.
Dr. Brown is one of my favorite profs at Lee. Although I'm not an English major, Brown really made the material and concepts interesting. He understands where students are at in their lives and genuinely LOVES to help in whatever way he can. He's a man of faith, integrity, intellect, and humor. Plus, he's super approachable. TAKE HIM.
Dr. Brown is a great choice for an English class. He has a detailed syllabus that he follows consistently. Every class we have assigned reading and a quiz the next class. He is very creative with his classes and we do lots of group work. He really makes English interesting!
Dr. Brown is hands down the best professor at Lee. He genuinely cares about all his students and is great about giving you solid feedback on your work. He keeps his classes interesting, even for non-majors, and provides class instruction that is really good for learning material. If you go to class and study, you should be able to get an A.
Brown is one of those professors you do not run into often in college. He is confident in who he is and his IDENTITY. His lectures are humorous and engaging no matter the subject. He also holds dinners at his house to engage in students and learn more about him outside of class. I respect him as a teacher and as a person. TAKE HIM!
This class was definitely not an easy on for me.
Great professor. You will have a quiz and group discussion almost every class. The papers are not easy but not too hard. You will have to work for an A. I wouldn't mind taking his class again.
Tough Grader, average grade is a B- according to his syllabus, yet myself along with several others in the class failed. Anything below a 70 in his class is failing...
I liked Dr. Brown. His quizzes and discussions kept us engaged with the reading, and he was so open to help with my papers. I went over paper drafts before I turned in the papers and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that. It will really help your grade. Dr. Brown clearly wants students to succeed and he is always willing to help facilitate that.
Dr. Brown is hilarious and makes learning the subject fun and doing the work for his class is fun because he lets you express your opinion and not feel judged for it. He even takes his students to his house for dinner to just get to know you and is extremely caring. If you get the chance take him because you will not be disappointed.
If you like puns, Dr. Brown is your guy. His lectures are excellent, his assignments are beyond fair and super fun, and there's never a dull moment in his class. Be prepared to read and write, for sure, but the work load was never anywhere close to unmanageable and he's a fair grader. Well worth your time.
Dr. Brown gave me a new perspective on English classes. He will teach you how to write correctly and is a tough grader but will push you toward excellence. He is hilarious in class and engages everyone no matter the subject. Dr. Brown remembers students names around campus and is always willing to talk. One of the wisest men I have ever met.
I have a minor in Dr. Brown. I love him.
Dr Brown is an amazing teacher there are a lot of class discussions about reading topics and how they relate to writing. I would 100% recommend maybe if you don't like writing or even if you do he makes them fun and interesting giveing you new prespectives. He also is free anytime to look over your papper
Dr. Brown is funny and very knowledgeable. He's a good professor. You will have to work hard and read a lot of material, but making an "A" is totally possible. I personally had trouble with him because he makes a lot of passive aggressive comments. If you aren't an anxious person, you won't notice, but if you are, it will make you uncomfortable.
Dr. Brown is a great professor to take. There is a quiz for every reading you do but it is pretty much just to let him know that you did and understood the reading. He is very sarcastic and makes a lot of dad jokes. He sticks to the subject but also tells a lot of stories. Show up to class and do the work. My favorite class this semester
Dr. Brown is incredible! I've only been at Lee for 1 semester, but he is one of the greatest teachers I've ever had. You do have to work hard, but with the feedback he provides it's easy to do well. He also meets with students a few times each semester to talk about their papers, & takes time to ask about life. Overall a very caring & funny man!!
Dr. Brown is quite engaging in class. There are daily reading quizzes, but they're generally just comprehension questions, very easy. The reading is usually pretty interesting, and although there are a lot of short essays due, he is pretty lenient on the grading. Overall easy A and helped me really enjoy literature again.
If you are looking for an ENG110 prof, Dr. Brown is THE BEST. Quizzes are easy if you read. He does class and group discussions over readings. They're laid back and very interesting. He does one-on-one conferences to help you fix/improve papers before they're due. He will help improve your writing 100% and he will also provide a great experience
Dr. Brown is AH-MA-ZING!!! There are daily quizzes on the reading and eight short essays that reflect the reading over the course of the semester. There's a big paper at the end that I didn't enjoy writing, but he helped improve my writing even though I didn't do so well. 10/10 would recommend!
Dr. Brown is incredible. He is clear on his guidelines, gives plenty of heads up, and is understanding about life. I had some health issues come up and he was willing to work with me. His sarcasm is unmatched, and his wit is fantastic. Hes a tough grader, so make sure you follow his instructions. But he wants you to succeed.
Dr. Brown is such a good guy and super funny! I would 12/10 recommend him. His class is almost 100% based off of the essays, but don't let that scare you because he has mandatory conferences with you to improve your paper before its due. As long as you read the stories for the quizzes and write decent papers, you'll get an A!
A friend and I are currently awake at 3am talking about how much we LOVE Dr. Brown. I took Western Lit as an elective, and it's one of the best classes I've ever taken. Dr. Brown has an amazing sense of humor and genuinely cares about his students. I learned so many life lessons from this class, bc he fostered discussion so well! TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
Dr. Brown was my favorite professor hands down. Yes, every reading has a corresponding Moodle posts. However, he centers the lectures about the post, so they don't seem like a waste. The classes have a lot of reading but not unreasonable for the levels. Learn from his feedback on short essay for the final paper as it is a huge chunk of the grade.
Great professor. Had him in the morning and never wanted to skip because I always knew I would miss something funny. Makes you want to learn and respects your opinion on every topic.
Dr. Brown is hilarious during class! He encourages you to come to office hours to get help on papers and holds conferences to improve them before they are due. He gives clear guidelines on the papers and grades quickly. The readings and class discussions are interesting and his quizzes are easy. Awesome prof who cares about his students' success!
Dr. Brown is hands down the best English professor in the department. What a hoot. Get ready to read, and I hope you know how to write because he will strongly test your ability to do so. If you have any difficulties, he is easily accessible outside the classroom. Take Brown if you want to better your writing skills, and if you want a good laugh.
Absolutely one of my favorite professors! He is funny, relatable, and positive. You will write a ton of essays but he is super helpful and will help you get the grade you want. Class is super fun and I never want to skip because I will miss out on his jokes! 10/10 take his class.
Dr. Brown is amazing. There are four short essays, a literary analysis, and a long essay. You also do weekly readings and write a short post about them. Even though there is a lot of writing to do, Dr. Brown is very accessible, and answers emails quickly and helpfully. Get ready to participate. This might have been my most entertaining class ever!
Dr. Brown is a very pleasant individual who clearly is skilled in the art of teaching and knows what he's talking about when it comes to his emphases. He isn't, however, very effective at correcting students in their writing. He can point things out, but those who may be deprived of a good writing education in the past should look elsewhere.
I love this professor! I hate writing and he really made it enjoyable. He is so funny, give amazing feedback. He cares about his students and their success. You need to take this professor if you can! You wont regret it. This class gave free reign on writing prompts and guides you through everything.
Dr. Brown was a really great professor. He does expect participation and you must write your papers. He assigns a good bit of writing but it makes it easy to get a good grade. He asks that you also go to the writing center and I never did and still made an overall good grade (but obviously be a better student and just go: ))
