I highly recommend taking a course with Professor Burke. He has a very funny personality and really cares about his students. He is very flexible with deadlines, and is understanding if you come to him with a concern. He is a very fair grader, and is honestly looking to be interested in your writing rather than nit-picky about technical issues.

i had a 99% in the class until he put in attendance. i was sick most of the beginning of the year and missed like 8 classes. literally he dropped my grade to a 65% and was very aggressive towards me through email. nice guy in person but can be really harsh. also always criticised my work and would never give me a full 100%, very nitpicky.

Attendance and participation are mandatory but it's not hard to engage with him; I love listening to him talk and he's funny. Gives good time to prep for papers and focuses more whether the content is good and interesting as opposed to being "correct" (i.e. punctuation, conventions) which is relieving and takes a lot of the pressure off writing.

The first half of the semester was based on reading assignments with written and in-class discussions, while the second was based in a group assignment and the final paper. The prof genuinely liked the class subject, so he was able to make it so fun and I found myself laughing most classes cause he's hilarious and students wanted to participate.

He is very personable and genuinely wants to get to know his students. He is a very interesting person, and he will tell personal stories and take up time in class if you don't want to do discussions around the reading.

Super chill, doesn't give very much homework, and not too crazy with assigning long papers. Most of the stuff we talk about is either random or common sense. He will ramble on about random stuff that makes class boring, but it's not work-heavy. Beware though to engage with him, because he does pick favorites, but he likes the kids who talk more.

It's frustrating when my professor seems to favor students, getting excited when they speak but grumpy with me. He claims I'm never in class, straight lie. Meanwhile, other students do homework for other classes during lectures, and he doesn't address it. I just want fair, honest treatment. At least it's an easy class.

Great professor! I never dreaded going to this class—it was always super engaging and never boring. The class is really conversational, not super content-heavy, which makes it feel more relaxed and enjoyable. A lot of our discussions turn into fun tangents, stories, or random conversations that still somehow tie back to the material.

He is sometimes rude and doesn't understand your questions that you may have. You scoffs when u ask a question sometimes and make u feel dumb. I did fine in the class but he can genuinely be rude.

Really easy class. He enjoys talking about anything and most of the class is just a discussion. It is kind of annoying he lets people who don't engage just do homework in the back of the class but its not that big of a deal.

This class was pretty easy. You're expected to participate in discussions in class, but to be honest, only a couple of people did, and there was no grade for it. You are mainly graded on 500-word reflection essays, a group presentation, and a research paper. The professor gives good feedback on your work, and you learn a lot about the 60s.

Rarely gives feedback on weekly papers. For your final paper, he gives feedback, but in my case, he gave me ideas to write my paper on, however, he told me I was "Doing too much" and that didnt relate to my thesis on a topic he suggested me to input in my paper.
