Listen to me. You like an A. Take this guy. his work is online despite the fact u meet in class, sign up for a tutor and have the tutor do the work with you. hes an average at best teacher. he is funny, makes class interesting, their is a bonding experience in the class but at the same time, hes not a teacher, hes an entertainer.slackers take it
funny teacher. All his work is on the internet so whenever u need help with ne thing. you can ask him and hell go over with you and plus hell even give the answers to the questions in class but dont push him to hard.there was a point in class that the class asked to many questtions for the answer.he was piss off but other than that you will b fine.
Hilarious Guy! Wicked good - really helpful - great class!! Take it!
Great and interesting teacher. Makes his lectures exciting. A joy to go to class. He is very funny. Class is easy because almost all the work is done online. Gives answers in class. Just do your work online and go to class to get some answers and you will probably get an A. He gives half a grade for good attendance.
I found the class material difficuly but he is one hell of an entertainer. You wont sleep in this class. Nice guy but he has his off days. Do your work and you'll be fine.
The whole class is done via assignments on-line. Don't bother doing them ahead of time b/c all he does in class is go over people's questions which leads to him giving the answers. He’s pretty funny, so class isn’t that painful, but since he doesn’t take attendance as long as you do the assignments your ok, or just do all the extra credits
if you like an A take this guy. he's hilarious and slacker but on the other hand he'll help you when you need it. just ask for it. best teacher I've ever seen in the flipping school...
Love this class!!!!!! Highly recommended...
Funny guy.. very nice and care for his student.. willing to take time out and help if needed... Def. highly recommended!!!!
best prof! easy class
I would highly recommend taking ECON with him. He cracks jokes during class all the time and the assignments through aplia are wicked easy. If you want an easy A then take his class but try avoiding him during the early mornings (8:30AM). He can get cranky without his coffee.
He is an easy professor. Understands logic of Economics easily and great sense of humor. Take one class with him and you will enjoy it!
Had him for Econ 101 and 102. Real good, funny guy. Your grade is your choice-homework or the final. Attendance doesnt really matter. Great professor though, makes sure students understand the topic and makes a boring class fun.
FAVORITE TEACHER...VERY EASY

take his class. very easy to get A
very fun, very helpful and easy grader. would definitely take him again
I took him over the summer of 08. Your grade is mostly aplia and as long as you attend labs and participate you will be fine. I got a B and if it were with any other prof it would most likely have been lower.

great teacher just be ready to sing
He is the worst of the worst professor I ever had in my whole student life. If you want to learn something, please stay away from this pro.
Really funny and enjoyable! I am taking a summer class with him. It is actually pleasurable to go, even though its the summer, because I know I will get a good laugh! He makes it as less painful as possible!! Highly recommended!
He is the one who sings, jokes and even dance on the table! It is fun class. I doubt you'll remember or learn anything but you'll defenetly get an A.
Prof. Calrson is the man. he is such an amazing professor had him twice, loved the way he teaches and the aplia problems really helps learning real life economics.
Held no office hours. Did not answer e-mails. Would regularly pull of belt in class, while standing in front of always a female's desk. Surfs the internet for pictures of models, during class, with the projector on!
He is a great professor. Very easy class.
Useless and lazy teacher-does not teach anything at all and babbles on about his own stupid problems for 2 hours. Never answers emails or questions and is always unorganized, not even knowing the day sometimes- never knows what chapter he is supposed to be teaching us and draws the same diagram of S&D EVERY SINGLE CLASS.Horrible and a waste of time
Great and easy class!!!!
It's an easy class but you mainly need to teach yourself. You do all of your homework online and it's due on certain days. Does not really teach you much though so be prepared. I had one quiz that took 10 minutes and we had a final that we all worked on in class.....so like I said, this can be an easy A....but be prepared to learn all on your own.
Pay for the grade, not for knowledge, and sometimes you may get a B or C.(I said this because some of my classmates got it) I got an A, but I learned nothing. You have to teach yourself. He did not teach. And if he did, it would be boring. He is funny sometime though.Having classes is waiting time.Choose him or not, your choice.
I LIKE HIS TEACHING STYLE, HE DOES NOT DESERVE ANY NEGATIVE COMMENTS
You get out of Kevin Carlson's class whatever you put into it. He's laid back about attendance IF YOU DO YOUR HOMEWORK. If you do the work and show up to class and take notes, you'll get an A. His classes are great to take over the summer.
Professor Carlson makes class fun and he made the material easier to understand. He is a very easier grader and he wants to help his students. Highly recommend you take this class.
Good professor. His style is very laid back but he really makes the class enjoyable. The online problem sets are very helpful for driving concepts home. His speaking style can be somewhat drawn out but the classes are still interesting. HIS LECTURES ARE NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR READING THE BOOK! But they do drive the points home.
There were no tests in my class. Your grade comes from online homework with a few extra credit assignments and those alone. If you can't solve them, ask him in class and he'll give you the full solution to any questions. Reading the book is a MUST. In short, you just couldn't get anything lower than an A- , if not an A, in his class. Best prof ever
Professor KC is the man!! I wasn't crazy about Aplia because of its confused graphs, but the rest was fine. If you don't understand something, bring it to class and he will explain it. Will take him again!
Love his teaching style, please don't change!
He is a very helpful professor. One of the Best Econ prof I ever had. I'll recommend students to take his class if you don't want to have a stressful semester, yet learn something. Easy-grader as long as you complete the assignments
Amazing Professor who makes Econ interesting and fun. Aplia are your assignments, do them well and you should have no problem. Professor KC helps those who are stuck on complicated assignments.
BEST TEACHER EVER I HAD
This professor doesn't take any attendance, but he remembers every single one of you in the class! All you gotta do to pass this course is to do the online quizzes and thats all! It may sounds simple but the online quizzes are actually pretty confusing and hard! Overall, he is nice! I got a B but i expected to get an A.
Best teacher ever. The class was really easy.
Best teacher I ever had. He does not give tests or quizzes. Just lot's of homework on Aplia. But he always extends to homework. He makes sure you complete them all and get a perfect score on it.
So there was basically no work for this class and all you have to do is show up. Also he's a pretty funny guy. Say yeah a little too much but the positives definitely outweigh the negatives. I need some easy credits and this class did it for me.
Prof jumps from topic to topic and seems to have a "class, what should we discuss today?" style of teaching instead of having clear topics every class. Can be funny but also gets upset easily when people disagree. Extends deadlines when necessary and asks for students' opinions on assignments and grades. Fairly easy class.
Carlson was super laid back even from day 1. He is an easy class but gives off the aura of an easy A even if you don't do the work. Don't be fooled, he is easy.. as long as you do all the work he assigns and sign up for all the websites he asks for. Only complaint is I wish he was more organized with our grades.
Carlson is very disorganized and lazy. He showed up with the intent of showing a movie and didn't bring a computer. He fumbled for more than half the class--waste of time. Had no idea how we were being graded, as there was no syllabus. He's obsessed with weird, old pop culture. He's very friendly, and tries to be funny, but it just doesn't work.
Carlson is the G.O.A.T. He will do what he can to help you pass the course, extending deadlines, revisiting topics, etc... his experiments are fun, and his love for Whitney Houston, Alicia Keys, and 50 cent is unrivaled
Easiest class I have ever took. If you have a pulse and show up, you would be able to get an A. If you are an econ major, I would not suggest you take him only because you would not learn anything.
Fun professor to have! As long as you do well on the homework assignments, you are bound to pass. If the course is a requirement, and you are NOT an Econ major, then I would recommend. You spend the whole semester simply understanding the concept of supply & demand.
Listen, Kevin Carlson is a GOAT. If you're an econ major do not take this class. He is the GPA building man. He is easily the most laid-back professor I've ever taken. He's a smart man and a very interesting fella. He kind of reminds me of Peter Griffin tbh. If you have a pulse and do the homework you'll be guaranteed at least an (A-).
He gives you some real and fun examples of eco concepts. He also encourages you make friends in class and makes jokes every class. He is a nice and understandable professor.
This is the second class that I have had with him. His unique way of teaching makes Economics both enjoyable and understandable. You will want to attend his lectures because he explains Economics concepts so clearly The online textbook (which he is one of the Authors of) is excellent, with integrated problems sets. This is a great course to take!!!
The professor is lit, if you want a good grade just take it.
Dude's probably the best professor I've ever had i in my few years at this school. He's nice, generous, funny, and extremely flexible. Participation does matter and he does give out plenty of homework, but he's more concerned on helping you learn the material rather than failing you for things you can't really control. Overall best teacher for Econ
very funny in class and very chill and laid back, everything is all online and usually he pushes back due dates a lot. i recommend!
He's kinda a joke but the class is extremely easy. You will definitely not learn what you should if you are planning on pursuing econ further. You would need to do some of your own work. I also took him during covid so there were some circumstances outside of our control.
Easy A! If you fail the class, please quit the college.
Awesome guy class is awesome too knows a lot about economics must take
Definitely take this professor ! So cool respects the students knows we have other things to do outside of it! Just do the things he assigns and youll be straight! Easy A if you do what he says ! Im happy with a C but if you need an A hes one to take !
This was my last class at UMass Boston before transferring. Carlson's class did not prepare me for higher Econ classes, and I had to take econ 101 all over again. I released that I didn't learn anything from a regular econ 101 class at other institutions. He is a nice guy, but he didn't provide a syllabus nor clear concepts about Econ. Avoid him!
Take Carlson's class if you can. Great dude. No homework and class is very enjoyable.
If you need structure and need to learn something, don't take this class. If you want an easy A, with no/little need to understand the subject, sure take it. I think it is waste of thousands of dollars to learn very little and listen to stories but its your money. He's nice but it doesn't make him a great professor.
Very nice guy however, don't take this class if you are actually an economics major because he doesn't teach very much. One day he would teach us stuff and then the next we would just be watching a movie or listening to songs the whole class. It was a fun and enjoyable class and an easy grade.
I liked coming to Professor Carlson's class. He made learnings economics enjoyable and would often give us real-life examples in order for us to understand the concepts. There's no homework. Come to class because there are quizzes that he goes over. There's no reason you won't get an A in his class. Overall, I'd take his class again!
If you're looking for an easy A, this professor is the one. He teaches economics a lot by connecting it to real-life situations. Most of his assignments are fun to do, but others rely a lot on the quizzes, which he's willing to help out the entire class for. Overall, Kevin Carlson is one of the best professors for a fun & understandable class.
The GOAT. If you aren't an economics student (or need to really be challenged w/ knowledge of economics) choose him. Sen. Lecturer Carlson is a great guy and wants you to learn the material without penalizing you for mistakes. You can attend class remotely or in person, quizzes reviewed in class + retakes! Automatic A, just attend a few classes.
Carlson is a great person, but as a professor, not so great. To be honest, I did not learn anything about ECON. Although, it might be because he knows that most people are there as a requirement and not because they want to proceed in that field. With that being said, he gives the option of zoom as he knows that many students are working students.
Carlson's class is very laid back and informal. He doesn't waste time with busywork, and understands most of his students aren't all that into econ, so he makes class fun. You'll watch movies and listen to his stories, but he manages to sneak course material into almost everything. Very difficult guy to read, but he's honest and full of energy.
Mr Carlson is a gem. THE BEST
Professor jokes around too much and has a terrible sense of humor. It is impossible to focus in the class as he will never stay on topic!
He is really easy and understanding, but I just hate that Im not learning anything :(
The best of the best.
No homework, no tests, no work, this is all great, but if you are trying to learn this could be negative. Really REALLY easy A. You do not need to attend class to pass. He is a great person, maybe he just shouldnt be a college professor... maybe high school?
I am not learning anything and neither is anyone else in class. I wish he was more systematic and organized. You dont have to go to class, in fact you dont have to do anything to pass, but it is bad for all the money people pay for these classes. Good for credit but not knowledge attained AT ALL.
Easiest professor, but you won't learn anything, however, I would recommend it if you have heavy lecture classes and just want another class.
Class is really fun and he likes to make jokes but you will not learn much in class. He super lazy for better or worst all his work are online quiz and his true or false question are mostly true. At first his was an in person class but later changed it to online for those that dont want to come to school.
Honestly a great person. He has great sense of humor and he knows his stuff.
EASY A. Take this class if you want a free A. Only graded on blackboard quizzes, which Prof. Carlson does in the class for you. No mid-term or final. You can also attend zoom or watch recorded classes. Prof. Carlson is very funny, and great to talk too.
Professor Carlson is a really funny professor but you won't learn anything in class. Take the class for a gen ed or as a required course, but don't expect to learn. He posts weekly quizzes that are the entirety of your grade, but he goes over the quiz answers in class, and if you ask he will let you have multiple attempts. Super fun guy!
Professor Carlson is a very fun teacher, always helping his students, very approachable. Gives weekly quizzes but they are super easy and if you need help he will help you with the quiz.
TAKE HIM IF U WANT EASY A. wont really learn anyt but funny guy and easy class. a lot of tests but all on blackboard and he gives u most of the answers in class. a few easy assignments, no final or midterm.
GOAT at umb. I really enjoy his class a lot because lecture are amazing. He does make joke a lot sometimes, but he also give you some knowledge about statistics and accounting too. But if you're econ major don't take this class, but if this class just on your requirement then take it, it's impossible if you not getting A.
Attendance is graded, but technically not mandatory (he assigns an assignment as an attendance grade and you get full credit if you're there in class). He has weekly assignments that he calls tests, but he literally gives the answers out in class. Great teacher and genuinely cares about his students. He doesn't teach a lot, but free A!
Carlson was awesome, he's super funny and I really enjoyed Econ because he was teaching it. I didn't learn an incredible amount but being in class with him was quite an experience. Please take him, his class is very manageable and honestly kind of fun.
He is the easiest professor at UMB. Class was recorded + he runs zoom during class time as well. No final or tests. Quizzes all on Canvas but you get to take them 3 times. Most of the times watched movies/shows relating to Econ. This is an absolutely free A. If you are breathing you will pass/get an A. Just do the assignments.
Super easy professor, but if you're an Econ major, don't take him.
Professor Carlson is one of the easiest and funniest professors at UMB. Take him if you want a free A!
