class was very fun, i actually WANTED to attend. notes aren't too much and are interesting to take. attendence is rewarded. biweekly reading quizzes (basically a test over reading) with extra credit from newspaper. tests cover notes only. definately reccomend!

Very intelligent, very helpful, he is hilarious, he gives alot of quizzes but as long as u read u will be alright. He is awesome, he can even keep the attention of everyone in our 5:00-6:15pm clas.

I loved this class. The notes were all on powerpoint, but he added a lot of personal stories to his lectures that made them really fun to listen to. The reading quizzes were sometimes difficult, but if you avtually do the reading you should be okay. He gives opportunities for Extra Credit, which is really awesome too

I took this class in Spring 06. I loved this class and the teacher was very funny! Class wasn't mandatory but there were incentives for attending. I came out with an A in this class!

I took Intro to Political Science with him from 5 to 6:15 in the evening-- a very long and boring time to take a class, but with his sense of humor and anecdotal tales he made it much better. Many opportunities for extra credit and he holds optional study sessions for tests to review all of the material. I would definitely retake him.

He's a great professor. The only thing the rextbook is used for are quizzes of which he gives a couple of over the course of the semester...The tests, on the other hand, come directly from the notes and there are only three, two tests and a final so if you study the notes, you'll do great. He's a GREAT teacher and he's highly reccomended!

I had him for American Gov. and he is hilarious! Lets face it, American Gov as a subject is BORING but he knows how to keep the class interesting and the people interested and awake. His reading quizzes are VERY specific and not something you can just scan over a chapter and be set. Tests are fairly straight forward and right off the power points.

Although I recieved a final grade of a D in professor Cook's American Govt. course, I still believe that he is one of the if not best professors I've had. I really liked the way he organized the class schedule combining notes, current events, & his occasional jokes. The tests were kinda hard, but I'm looking foward to retaking him next semester!

Good teacher. Funny and knowledgable. I had to read the chapters for the quizzes that are about every two weeks. There were three tests-- they were not too hard if I studied more than just the night before. The finals was not cumulative!

Cook is a great teacher. If you're lazy..don't take him. There are 7 quizzes that you have to read 2 chapters each for, and the questions aren't necessarily ALWAYS straight forward. Time consuming. But like I said, he is a fantastic teacher and his tests come strictly from his nothes and he does ask questions that he talked about-not on notes.

I was actually sad on the last day of class. Very interesting and I'm not even into politics, funny, quizzes from chapters, tests directly from notes. What you put in is what you will get out.

Excellent! He is funny, pretty lenient, and loves what he teaches. If you read the book, you'll ace the quizzes. Write down what he puts on the board, you'll ace the test. It is a super easy class with him teaching. You'd be a fool not to take him.

I took Cook for summer term! I hate politics but loved his American Government Class! We had 4 reading quizzes, and 2 tests w/essay but usually uses MC during the Fall/Spring. All the tests are over lectures so just take notes. He makes class very fun and even in a class of over 200 he got to know everone

Definitely take this class. I made a 80% or above on all of the tests. There is a lot of extra credit opportunities. The tests are straight from the notes. I was dreading this class, but it turned out pretty interesting. Also there is TONS of extra credit you can get, like up 15 points added to a test, 5 bonus questions on every quiz, lowest quiz grade replaced with highest. Oh and his test are worded exactly the same as the notes. I am pretty sure I made an A no problem.

One of the greatest and most intelligent teachers i have ever had. He won't put up with slacking off, though. Memorize the notes and you will make a 100 on his tests, because every time each test was verbatim from his slides. You have to work hard though, but he doesn't make tricky tests. Do the extra credit b/c theres no homework grades to help.

Hilarious professor. Really enjoyed his class and helped me out big time on one occasion where I slept in and missed exam. Allowed me to take it later during the day. My only complaint would be his quizzes. I would do the reading and would sometimes get a 50 and sometimes get a 100. Very inconsistent quizzes which seemed too detailed and tricky.

There are two test and a final, if you know the notes like the back of you hand you will make a hundred so make sure you take good notes! He also gives you extra credit opportunities. Hands down the most interesting and funny professor I have ever had. I am taking him for Political Science and he knows pretty much all there is to know. This class can be very challenging depending on your level of interest. If you are very interested in political science and the government it shouldn't be hard to pull out a A. But if you like be and it is hard to focus and read about the government it can be hard. Test are easier than chapter quizzes as long as you study.

I took this class over the summer and it was super easy. You will have a quiz and discussion due over but they are straight from the chapters. You also have a discussion, but as long as you reference the book, you will make a 100. He was also helpful and emailed back quickly.

I loved his class, there was never a dull moment. PLEASE dont get caught texting on your cell phone or you will be sad because he will confiscate it. Be sure to study all the references that he shares with you because he pulls questions from everything-your book, lecture notes, news events, etc.

His tests are SUPER easy and based directly off of his lectures, but the reading quizzes are impossible - they are not representative of the chapters at all. He is very entertaining to listen to, and be sure to keep up with current political events.

Reading is a must and showing up to class will really help because major tests are only on lecture material and not at all on reading material. The book would not be helpful for major tests at all. The book is still needed for reading quizzes though.

He takes a subject that would normally place you in a coma and turns it into something actually interesting. The tests are over lecture notes only so you need to go to class or get notes from someone else to pass those tests. Everything on the test is directly from notes, it's just knowing it. Quizzes are difficult, you need to read your book.

Dr. Cook is a great professor who really knows his material. As long as you show up to class and take notes you'll do fine on the tests. He also gives reading quizzes which can be long, but you'll be fine if you actually read. I would definitely recommend him.

There are multiple opportunities for extra credit and he is willing to help students out and is good with communication. His lectures can actually be pretty funny, so a normally pretty boring topic isn't so bad. Just do the readings for the quizzes and take notes, and you should be fine.

Kevin Cook is, hands down, the best professor I ever had at GSU. He is hysterical. I NEVER left class without laughing. But do not be fooled - the class is not easy. The tests are word-for-word from the notes you take in class. The reading quizzes are a nightmare. Carefully read (and re-read, if possible) your book. Not an easy A but worth it!

Cook has a fantastic American Government lecture. He really engages the class and makes learning the information easy. His tests can be difficult and require a good bit of studying. His quizzes are hard. There's no way around it. You have to read the assigned chapter. He does offer a lot of extra credit on quizzes on current events topics.

He is so passionate and organize - his lectures are very easy to follow and class is never boring! I was never interested in American Government until I took Cook's class. The class was over an hour long but it never seemed like it because somehow he made his lectures so interesting that time flew by. He is SO knowledgeable about american government it's impressive. Great teacher, the tests are a little tricky but study and you'll be okay.

Weekly quizzes are 20 qs and 5 of them are current events, so you have 5 chances at free points. His tests are a little tough, but study for a few days and you'll do well. Honestly, he's one of the best professors I've ever had. He's funny and a great public speaker so his lectures are bearable. He gives tons of extracredit. He uses questions from the online textbook practice quizzes on his quizzes so take those.

Since I been here, he has been the best professor ever! His tests comes straight from the lecture and he gives up to 3 extra credit opportunities so make sure you do that to get all your points. One of the extra credit opportunities, you have to do a sign up for a current event poll and read it to the entire lecture class!

He is very passionate about political science, and always makes class entertaining. There are quizzes every other week on chapters of the book with up to 20 EC points from current events. 3 test over lecture notes per semester. He offers EC for giving a current event in class... TAKE IT! Good attendance him dropping lowest quiz grade.

The lectures are very interactive and students can engage the discussion often by just raising their hand. Very funny, very easy to talk to if you're having trouble in the class.

Professor Cook is my favorite teacher I have taken at Georgia Southern. His lectures are long but he has many personal stories and the way he conducts himself makes it easy to pay attention. I actually enjoyed going to his 5 pm class. You HAVE to read for the quizzes but the tests are not as bad. If you have the opportunity, TAKE HIM!

This is the professor to take for political science. Mr. Cook is an AWESOME professor and makes the class interesting. This is one call that I took during Spring 2017 that I was excited to attend.

Take Prof Cook for POLS1101 online!! Easiest class I have ever taken!!! The only work you have to do is one quiz and one discussion post for each chapter but the answers are right there in the text book. Final exam is literally the same questions from all the quizzes. There was literally a exam or quiz evry week. Quizzes need a LOT of reading and he lectures until the end of class. Attendance is a MUST. There was a lot to take in but he has study sessions before big tests. The TA was responsive and pretty to look at.!!

Tests are a bit difficult but only cover what is taught in lecture. He has 3 major extra credit opportunities (up to 15 extra points) as well as 5 extra credit points on quizzes.

Easiest class I took all semester. His tests are based directly from the notes and theres no application questions. Very straightforward and offered extra credit for every quiz and after each test. Had him this summer for government. REALLY EASY PROFESSOR AND CLASS!! His class structure online is so simple it's almost impossible to get anything less than an A. 10 discussions, 10 quizzes, and a final exam, and that's it. Follow the directions for the discussions and do well on the quizzes and you're good. TAKE HIM, you will not regret it!

The class is completely online so there's no need to go anywhere or hop on zoom. The assignments are really easy; you're only graded on the discussion pieces and quizzes every week and you are given a lot of time to complete them.

Literally one of the easiest classes I have ever taken. You can literally find everything off of Socratic and he is such a laid back professor. I had taken his online class, but make sure when you do discussion posts, you use a citation or he will give you a 50 for it.

Take this class online and it will be an easy A! Just do the discussion post and quizzes once a week. Everything is online and is not proctored. You don't even meet on zoom.

I had zero interaction with this prof because the course was 100% online and fully automated. There's only weekly quizzes and discussion posts but you don't even have to respond to other students so it's barely any work. You can definitely get away with not even buying the textbook because all the quiz answers are on quizlet.

He was an excellent intro-course professor. As someone who is more science-minded, it's harder to find interest in things like politics, history, etc, but Mr. Cook made the class engaging and funny, and honestly, his contagious enthusiasm kept me coming for more classes.

Great professor! Everything was straight-forward. We used a textbook but only for discussions because we needed to use citations. Overall, easy grader and easy work. Take him if you're needing to take American Government.

Great professor! Just a weekly quiz and discussion that are not hard at all. He is also a very kind person and will work with you on grades and clarity for assignments. Defiantly would take again!

Yes; this class is an easy A if you do the work. However, you will still learn something. The online class is very well organized and everything you need to know to complete assignments and tests is readily accessible.

Professor Cook's POLS1101 class had very clear instructions and he responds quickly to any issues. GPA boost if you read the material, and do all of the assignments. Would 100% recommend.

So easy, all tests and quizzes are multiple choice, and you can find all the answers online. One four sentence discussion per week easily graded.

Mr. Cook was one of the best professors I have ever had. His lectures were very understanding and straight forward and he 100% knows what he's teaching. He responds to emails and in class questions. None of the notes are online, so I would recommend going to class to pass. His tests are exactly like his lectures and the quizzes are online.

Very Easy Class and cool professor. Show up and take notes. He has a power point presentation that he goes off of and you have plenty of time to take notes. His exams are all based off of the power point slides and only power point slides. He also does review sessions. I would definitely recommend taking.

recommend this professor 100%. he's very funny. he explains the material very well. there are some quizzes which are online and they are over the texbook, super easy. and exams (you can have a little card with your notes if you come to lectures). exams are only over lecture material, so you better come to classes every though it's not mandatory

I love Professor Cook. He is very passionate about his work and is overall a very funny guy who loves his job. Class is fairly easy, just go to class and listen to material and you'll be good. He only grades off of quizzes and test. Test are pretty easy and get cheat sheet, quizzes are online with answers easy to find.

There are only 3 tests and 6 quizzes throughout the semester but the quizzes are online and very easy. The tests are only over lecture material and powerpoints from class and you are allowed to bring a cheat sheet to the tests. He always made the class a positive environment, made it fun for everyone, and is very caring about you and your success!

Definitely my favorite prof so far. He is so sweet and funny and he truly cares for his students. You can tell he loves his job and wants everyone in his class to succeed. Exams are strictly over lecture material so come to class even though attendance isn't mandatory. Definitely take him if you get the chance!!!

Mr. Cook is a fantastic and funny teacher who makes himself available to students. The course workload is manageable with just 5 quizzes and 3 exams, plus 3 opportunities for extra credit. He encourages students to attend class and study effectively.

One of the best profs out there. Amazing/funny lectures that get you engaged. Final grade is 3X in person exams and 5X online reading quizzes. Allows small cheat card for exams. Exams are literally based on lecture notes (same words). Great & friendly guy who loves his job. don't bother in buying online textbook, save $50, made an A without it

GREAT PROFESSOR! I just took him over the summer for a minimester and it was one of the best decisions I've made. The class consist of 10 discussion posts and 10 quizzes (and a final). He's a fast grader so I would def recommend him to anyone.

POLS 1101 was so easy online with Professor Cook. His modules were well organized (by unit). Each week, a quiz and discussion post would be due.

If you listen to anything take this professor especially if you're taking it online . All the homework was incredibly easy there was one quiz and one discussion post every single week but on different days(You didn't even need to respond to anyone just the criteria). The final exam was also online. If you want an easy A, Take. This. Class.

Professor Cook's lectures are not boring since I spent time paying attention and taking notes, not only on the slides but also on the additional information he provides that will be on the tests!! We only had three tests on lecture material, five online quizzes based on textbook information, and 3 extra credit opportunities. I highly recommend!

I took his class this semester and it went pretty well. He's very knowledgeable about his material and essentially recites the slides. The reading quizzes are easy grades and he has 4 extra credit opportunities. Every test you can use an index card as a cheat sheet; write down everything!! I would definitely recommend this teacher and this class.
