Nice guy, Knows his stuff, but class is kinda boring b/c he writes notes on the board the whole time. Overall easy though.

Best class I have ever had
As long as you show up for class and take notes, this is a very easy class. He writes everything down on the board, and the tests are not bad at all. Always wears dockers khakis, pastel dress shirts and sweater vests ;-)
Very Good teacher. Do NOT buy a book for this class, you will not need it. He writes everything on the board and sort of spoon feeds the subject to you. It's true...don't expect to see him in anything other than Dockers, Pastel shirts, and vests.
Took this course telecourse.I am a science major with a 4.0 GPA who has already been through a significant amount of hard courses with very difficult instructors.. I was given a 3.0 from him. Would not recommend taking a telecourse with him.
Very good at what he does! Dont buy a book he very good!!!!!!!!!!!
Great guy, fun class.
Kevin's telecourse is ridiculous and impossible to get a good grade in - avoid it all costs!
His telecourse is hard and he will tall you not to take it. If you take his lecture you will be very happy he is the best @ Western and KVCC.
The class was fine but Kevin was aweful. Very arrogant and unapproachable. He has a VERY high opinion of himself!!! Which he shouldn't!!! You spend the money on his book and he never opens it. Don't waste your time.
excellent, The only history class ever in life that I took and enjoyed and pass with a 4.0 I dont care for politics but I dwrote lots of long essays for this class and loved it . Thanks.
Not interested in his appearance, but it doesn't matter once he starts teaching. Lectures for three hours without ever using notes. Incredible instructor, he was born to teach.
Awesome teacher...very clear about what is needed. Can't understand all of the negative reviews
This was a telecourse class and it was awful! He had someone else fill in for him during our orientation. I am also a 4.0 science major and this class was over the top. Avoid the telecourse class!
DON'T take the telecourse. The tests are WAY too subjective(and appear to be canned tests). The book and video are informative, but trying to decipher what information is important enough to consider test material is nearly impossible. I had a 3.75 g.p.a. - this course only brought it down. NO NO NO!
I was just taking classes at KVCC for the summer, I usually attend a private college and was anxious about the quality of work but Kevin did not disappoint. He was the best professor I have ever had. Knows everything and makes all topics relevant and useful. Also very cute!!!!
kevin is a great teacher, knew everything and was very specific about what he wanted us to know...my advice, go to class and take notes, go to the review sessions before the tests and you should do well.
He's so freaking smart. He knows everything about government and history. He should be someplace like Michigan; we're lucky to have him at KVCC. Oh, and he's not bad to look at, either. Cute!
Avoid the telecourse. Regardless of whether this instructor is a good one, the course is poorly designed, and will not reflect how much you work at it. I carry a 3.8 after 70+ credit hours, and this telecourse was my second lowest score ever!
Totally awesome, good looking but what makes him so sexy is how smart he is. Never uses notes in class, totally the sexiest man alive. Knows everything, always can answer questions. He even helped me with my philosophy homework(without knowing).
One of my favorites. Grades pretty fairly, and he's pretty cute.
Very fun and smart, class is a little difficult for a 100 level class, he expects a lot. Seems a little arrogant but backs it up with brilliance. Never uses notes, lectures the entire clas period, two big exams and a paper. Very good looking....smartest prof at KVCC.
Teaches class like a story, very interesting and makes every topic seem relevant. Class is harder than I expected but he is good. Very comfortable in front of the class, never uses notes, just lecture and chalkboard for the entire hour. Best looking professor on campus!
very hard class
very interesting class, although somewhat hard. long essays needed but i got a lot out of the class and the grading wasn't too bad, you just need to commit time into the class.
Knows what he is talking about. Very good. A lot of writing.
AT all cost avoid his Online course PSI 101. Though my four years of college, I spent more time on this class than any other classes. Over 50 essays I have written, 2 to 3 pages long each. Oh yeah there's also a research paper. Even though this is an online course there are due dates. If you like to write essay after essay, this is the one!
Hard tests, lots of notes, research paper but if you attend class you should do well
Pretty cool guy, has fun with the class. Explains things well.
I took a hybrid class, I found it difficult but any questions I had were clearly answered. I didn't like the 12 page paper I had to write - I thought it was unfair in a 100 level class.
american gov. hard assignments of writing 12 page papers, more like an english class. he is very interesting and knows his topic, he also makes the class challenging, if you get the paper done you will get an a for the effort, which does require a lot of effort. not much studying needed though.
Chuck Wins.

Hybrid class with weekly discussion forums to cover chapters. Attendance only mandatory for exam days. 3-5 pg papers 3 times during the semester, not hard at all. Book is used a lot but easy to read through. Exams were multiple choice and filling in specified countries on a map. Dockerty is HOT. =D
I was shocked at the difficulty of this class for it being a 100 level class. The exams are all essay and very long. I had the highest grade out of the 8 people sitting around me, and I got a C on the first exam. I am typically an A student, and was not expecting this. He should bring it down a notch for an intro course.
Professor Dockerty is wonderful! He is excellent at explaining things, making it so easy to learn. He is willing (and importantly, able!) to answer any questions you have. He also has a laid back personality. He's great!
National Government. Very knowledgeable. I barely used the book. Tests are easy if you attend lectures. My class watched about 5 films and they were all great - don't skip them! It was really a pleasure to be in this class.
I took one of his online history classes and I found it to be labor intensive and quite difficult. The three exams consisted of four 2-3 page essays. You were then expected to write another 3-4 pages in the discussion forums for each of the three units. The thirty-some online quizzes included some incredibly specific questions (i could never get
I enjoyed being in Dockerty's class very much! He is a laid back teacher, but he knows his sh*t making it very easy to understand. All you really got to do is show up, pay attention and obviously study for the exams.
I am taking an online course and is not the way to go! Very hard to get a good grade! Think he is a good teacher just a little fast paced. DO NOT TAKE A HYBRID COURSE! You will be set up for failure.
DO NOT TAKE AN ONLINE CLASS!!! The tests are ridiculously tricky and his grading of essays are horrible. This man may be good in the classroom but do not take his online class. Each test is like 10 questions and almost every single one of them have a stupid twist to them. Ridiculous!!
I have taken many online classes, and this is by far the easiest. I actually did the HYBRID, which made it even easier. Great teacher who really knows his stuff.
I enrolled in the hybrid class unaware of how hard it was going to be. Attendance wasn't mandatory, but you were given bonus points for attending each lecture. The text was terrible reading- incredibly confusing and his quizzes were more difficult! But...he knew his stuff and was excellent at relating it to what we could comprehend.
He is one of the best teachers I've had this year!
Ive read a lot of bad reviews on him but I REALLY enjoyed him! I didnt do all that well on tests (avg testin70s) but I still got a 3.5 in class. You have 2 options, 100 quest scantron or essay. I did scantron.. big mistake! TAKE ESSAY! You will do really good. Lots of work but I learned a lot!! Hes cool! Super duper laid back!
Knowledgeable and laid back. Made the class more interesting than it normally would have been. Be sure to take notes and study them - they are more helpful than the text at times.
Take the hybrid--no tests!!! online quizzes can be done open book. You HAVE to do the reading--he doesn't cover everything in lecture. A few long in-class assignments and a six page research paper are the only bad things about this class. Sometimes offers extra credit for attending guest lectures at KVM. Easy enough--take this one.
Interesting lectures. 3 exams and research paper.
Dockerty is possibly the most brilliant professor I have ever had. He's personable and intelligent, a brilliant lecturer and also made me really love American History. Take his class! Also, he's super hot.
Love the his teaching style. All you have to do is show up and take notes and you'll pass, he covers everything you need to know you'll barely use the book for studying unless u want. JUST TAKE NOTES!
This class was great, the lectures were interesting, the instructor knew his stuff... As long as you take notes you'll pass but to do well you need to read, take the quizzes, and actually care about politics. Take the Essay tests, they are very easy and I never had trouble getting 2 pages for the answers...
Kevin is an awesome teacher! He's really funny. He gets frustrated when people don't pay attention, and he's been known to give in class assignments to people that are there, so don't skip. He has a very informative and simple way of explaining things, however, and I think that he is probably the best bet for taking American Government
2nd class with him. As far has never opening the book in class... well he expects you to read it on your own time and he highlights the important parts of the chapters in class with notes. The online course is hard, BUT there are CLEAR due dates, and yes he does expect you to spend as much time as you would if you were taking the class on campus.
Kevin is a grate professor, He is very active in our communiys govenment system. If you show up and do the reading you will pass.
Kevin's a pretty fun guy. The class is not exactly the most interesting but he writes all the notes on the bored. As long as you go to class and go through the book you should be golden. He gives you all the info that will be on the tests and lets you choose between multiple choice and an essay exam. Study and take notes and this class is a piece of cake!
Turned it basically into an English class. Spent more time writing a paper than anything else.
Interesting and informative. 3 exams, 3 quizzes, 1 research paper, and attendance.
You are given an option for exams-take the essay exams! Come to class and take notes. After this class I pay much more attention to politics than I ever did before. He talks a lot about Reagan and FDR. Its hard to determine what party he is, he covers both sides equally.
Great class. I had a lot of fun
All around quality teacher. If you respect him and his classroom he will respect you.
He is pretty tough. But he's cool. The tests hard and the reading kind difficult to understand sometimes. You will need the book. He has an assistant Celina that will help you. She's really nice and pretty.
Amazing teacher!! Very engaging! This is not an easy class, but he will answers any questions that you have. Quizzes are tricky! Despite the class being challenging, he is by far the best teacher that I have had at KVCC. Highly recommend taking his class!!!
Great teacher! I would take his class again in an instant. you get the option for multiple choice or essay tests. I always went with the essay and as long as I paid attention during his lecture I had enough information to ace them no problem. Great guy, very interesting and very funny.
Took hybrid version. Lectures were very interesting, informative, and laid back which fostered a great low-pressure learning environment. Short quiz after each class. Homework included a reading assignment with an online quiz, and a few groupindividual projects. Only real test is the Final. Pay attention, do your homework and you'll easily pass.
Kevin was really funny and taught you everything you need to know in his lectures. I never even looked in my book after the first few days. There is quite a long research paper, but he lets you submit it if you have it done a week early and will tell you everything you need to do to get an A on it. Make sure to take the essay quizzes!!
I wish I could take his class every single day. I learned so much from him. Super fun, friendly, and certainly knows his stuff! Very tricky quiz questions, though. Pay attention, read the book and you'll do well.
Kevin is one of the best professors at KVCC! He is always there for his students and wants you to succeed.
Should not be in charge of online classes. Does not understand that online classes happen online. Offers/expects students to come into the college for his lectures. Again ONLINE classes do NOT happen on campus. Expects students to take tests on campus in the testing center. If you do not trust the medium, you should NOT be teaching classes online.
Anyone who does not trust the online medium should NEVER be in charge of online classes. Having students who have signed up for ONLINE courses come into the testing center to take HAND WRITTEN exams shows absolute disrespect for the online learning method. Should NEVER be allowed near online classes again.
If you ever have the chance to take a class with Kevin, please do it! He has a great sense of humor, his assignments are pretty straightforward, and he's always more than willing to help you. However, attendance is mandatory. Don't go to class? You won't pass.
Frustrating online class. Worked through the class with my friend who has a Bachelor degree in History and we couldn't get over 60% on quizzes, while using the book. It left my friend incredibly frustrated on the inaccuracies of some of his questions. Class completely avoided crucial historical matters as well (ex. WWI). Be ready for TONS of forum
Worst class I have ever taken and I am an A/B student. The 10 question quizzes are timed, so you only get 12 minutes to take them. Not nearly enough time to read the question, let alone comprehend it. The exams were 5 questions out of 25 possible questions that could be asked. The difficulty level for a simple government class is ridiculous.
Great class, I enjoyed each class period. It wasn't hard and he is always helpful when you ask questions. Expectations are clearly laid out, class was fun and easy to follow. I plan to take more classes with him in the future. There is no homework and he gives you choices on the exams. Attendance is a big part of the grade.
I took the American Government hybrid version, I do not typically enjoy politics and government, but this was the best college class I have every taken! I would love to take more classes with Kevin.
I have taken 2 classes (web and regular) from Kevin. The web class was difficult and time-consuming but fair. I'm in a regular classroom class now, it's my favorite class this year. The lectures are super interesting, he definitely knows politics and makes it actually interesting. The classroom course is much easier than the web class was.
Super nice guy, helpful and interested in helping you succeed. He makes history matter to you. Class was straight-forward, if you come to class you will do fine.
He is easy to understand, and does a good job of making the class relevant and useful. I plan to take more classes with him. Expectations are straightforward, and he keeps up with grading and Moodle. My favorite class I had this semester!
Phenomenal all-around. I'm a history major as a result of his class!
Much better than any online class I have taken in the past. Grading expectations are clear. He has you analyze and think about history. Most of my online classes before this were multiple choice tests only, Kevin's class goes beyond memorization and asks you to think. It had the most interaction I've ever had with an online professor.
Clear grading, straightforward assignments- two exams, chapter quizzes, and attendance. You get your money's worth with him!
His online history class is great, he prods you to think more deeply about history not just memorize facts and dates. He responds to emails quickly and he is very helpful if something doesn't make sense. Lots of interaction and discussion, and he participates in the forums and is much more engaged than any online professors I've had.
Class expectations are clear. You take the same essay exams as the in-class does, so you have to go to the testing center twice. This class was hard but fair, lots of reading. He is good at answering emails right away.
If you visit his office hours this class is WAY easier!
His weekly quizzes are absolutely painful. I would read and take notes and try so hard and would end up only getting a 5 or 6 out of 10. What saved my grade is the fact that you could choose between a multiple choice exam or essay exam (CHOOSE THE ESSAY) for the essay he gives 20 questions then picks 5 directly for the exams word for word.
I learned more than I imagined I would. He is very down to earth but very smart. Can't wait to take more classes with him.
Will help if you ask. Class is fair and easy to follow. There are two exams in the testing center, if you study they are easy.
fun class, hopefully will take another of his, exams are easy if you go to class, hard if you don't
The class was fascinating, the books not bad , actually pretty interesting. He is very interesting and he held my attention during lectures. Class was easy. I was in his online version, but switched in the first week, so glad I did. It seemed a lot easier than the web class. He got along with everyone in our class, seems really nice.
Took American Government as hybrid this summer and learned a lot. Format was ideal for me. Kevin is passionate about political science. Would highly recommend!
My goal is to take Dockerty every semester if I can!
I never guessed his class would be a positive experience, I hate politics, but I learned alot. And he's not boring.
I took his online class. The weekly quizzes are HORRIBLE! I read the book, took notes & still got 4 out of 10. Not all information is in the book... I barely passed with a 2.0. This class is a 100 level class & shouldn't be this hard, I'm not majoring in history! I don't recommend taking him unless you have lots of history knowledge already.
Kevin is awesome. You need to either read or go to lectures very consistently. I hate reading. Rarely read and received the highest grade on the final and second highest on the midterm. Take notes and look over them and you will get an A or B. Kevin really wants you to come to class. He gives extra credit points on quizzes if you come.
Kevin Dockerty is an excellent professor. His lectures are exciting and engaging, and he seems to genuinely care about his students. He will move you into another room for additional time for a test. He grades you on both quizzes and tests. However, his M.C. questions to be confusing - choose the essay tests instead of the multiple choice exams.
This was hands down the best online class I have ever taken. The exams and forums are directed toward a thorough understanding of the history period. He is very active in the forum discussions. You get a choice between multiple choice or essay for the midterm/final exams. Take the essay, don't even consider the multiple choice.
I have taken 2 classes with Professor Dockerty. He is very knowledgeable and a dynamic lecturer. One class was WEB, he is very hands-on in the web class, and participates in all the history discussions. But the classroom class was even better, he's smart, funny and charming while lecturing. Hot for an old guy.
I'm an adult student, and I found this class to be the most valuable class I've taken outside my major. I learned to appreciate history from Kevin's guidance. I couldn't believe how much more the present makes sense when you you view it through the past. The forums/exams were setup to think about why things are the way they are, take the essay exam
Dockerty is not a very good instructor. He is very vague in telling students what is expected. He does not help students when they ask for it. He does not grade fairly. He often goes off topic when we are supposed to cover material related to the class, and it is specifically written in the syllabus. Stay away from Dockerty.
Class was great, easy to understand and straight-forward.
Excellent: easy, straight-forward, hilarious!
This course was is my favorite college course so far! There isn't a lot of assignments, and no homework. Hes really friendly and enthusiastic and not intimidating, he was also very helpful after class. I had a great time in this class, it was actually fun. He rocks!
It's basic political science, like the stuff you learn in 5th grade social studies. Show up and you'll pass. It helps that he's cute.
I really enjoyed my class with Kevin. I had no interest in government, but he made it interesting. Kevin makes it simple to understand and gives you what you need to know. I took the hybrid course and it was an easy A. He is kind and understanding. Take the essay exam, you will do better on it. Take government with Kevin!
Do not take online. All he does is have a multiple choice questions every week. There is no content. He does no actual teaching. Then expects you to take your midterm and final in person with a list of essay questions that he will pick five of. He does this to be "fair" to his in person classes.
Entertaining class!
Good teacher can a lot of reading I highly recommend the hybred class
If you take his in person classes you'll get most of the content from his lectures. His quizzes are online and gives you the choice between essay air multiple choice exams and gives study guides to both. If your class makes him happy he'll cancel the quizzes. Make sure you attend class because he sometimes gives random extra credit.
I took American History since 1865 online as apart of my general education credits. May I suggest reviewing all the material before taking the midterm and final exams. You have a choice to take either a multiple choice or short answer midterm and final. I highly recommend the multiple choice if history isn't your strongest subject.
Take the hybrid class!!!! Kevin is a really solid teacher, has clear expectations. Take one online multiple choice quiz per week, a midterm, and a final and that is it. I passed with a 4.0 and never even opened the book one time. If you show up for his lectures you will have everything you need to pass easily. Highly recommend
Very unbiased. Never could figure out whether he was liberal or conservative. Shows a lot of numbers on his powerpoints, writes out his notes. He doesn't force you to attend, but if you do the class is not hard at all. Way more interesting than I thought it would be.
He's a lot of fun. The book is boring, but his lectures are interesting. There aren't very many assignments and he tells you exactly how to prepare for the exams.
Class is an easy A, you show up for lectures and you'll do just fine in the course overall. It's just like fifth grade social studies all over again, minus the projects. He's really easy going and holds extra days for review before exams, which are optional in terms of attendance.
Everything's online, it's not difficult to get an A. Just review the midterm/final questions over and over again, trust in your answers by comparing them to what the book says.
Attendance is important, you get a point every day you attend and sometimes there are small quizzes after the lectures that you might miss. He tells you the essay questions prior to the exam, you know how to prepare. His lectures are interesting and he is very unbiased when it comes to politics. After 12 weeks I still don't know his political views
Very funny and easy going, he makes his lectures enjoyable but theres not a lot of assignments so make sure you attend class and take notes.
Kevin is one of the rare teachers that work with politics and will keep you guessing on his views because he doenst allow his bias to overflow into his teachings. He allows his students to think for themselves. Good class for conservatives and liberals alike. Class is easy and you can skip the book if you come to class everyday due to lectures.
Good professor, is caring . when he lectures he goes slow enough to take good notes. Would take again
Kevin is a great professor. Not bias whatsoever towards either political party. Blames baby boomers for everything (probably the funniest part of the class). Although unbiased, he hinted to the fact he's more left-leaning, but this wouldn't be apparent in the lectures. GO TO CLASS AND TAKE NOTES! Missing 2+ classes can very easily screw you over.
I ended up having Prof. Dockerty in another class due to the teacher becoming indisposed for medical reasons and what I gleaned from those classes were that Professor Dockerty is a bit on the tougher side but he knows his stuff and wants the students to understand. He wants to make sure everyone understands.
I've struggled with Mr. Dockerty Since week one of classes. Didn't have access to all of the online course materials. No opportunity to earn points aside from weekly quizzes a midterm and a final. Quiz material isn't outlined. Shouldn't be teaching online courses if he doesn't have a method. Midterm and Final are mostly essay with poor outlines.
Took his class as an online class, and ever since the first day it was obvious this was going to be a seemingly impossible class to do good in. I did everything in my power to do good on his quizzes and they are hard! DO NOT TAKE AS AN ONLINE CLASS
Great class, highly recommend! It was cool to see him on TV while taking his class. Cute eyes!
I took his online History since 1865 course. If you don't have a very solid understanding of American history, it may be very difficult for you. You'll be expected to respond to all forums and read a lot of material! He has plenty of rules and guidelines, too. If you have the option, you may want to do a more personal class, instead.
I took the hybrid class. One hour lecture a week & did readings/quizzes online. He is a great teacher, and he cares about your success. If you can, take the hybrid or full lecture class with him. Very easy exams if you're in the hybrid class. Talked to someone in the online class and exams are MUCH harder for online class. Quizzes are TRICKY.
I am currently in his PSI100 class and it might be the most boring thing I have ever done. I was really excited about his teaching in the beginning because he provided a lot of information that made one thing he would be really clear and a good teacher. Don't be fooled. It was all a bunch of useless garbage. His study guides are a joke.
if you are taking the online american government don't waste your time buying the access code for the class. he never grades it and doesn't tell you but its for "your own knowledge ". wasted about $130 for the access code and never even used the site.
I took 2 classes with Dockerty. I had 1 in-person and 1 online. The in-person class is SO MUCH EASIER. In-person you get the lecture+group discussion experience along with reading. Online is just reading 3-4 chapters a week and it's DRY. Required 20 forum posts w/2400 words total (with research citations), 10 quizzes, & 2 exams. Do the essay exam!!
Took PSI 100 online, great class! Interesting and easy. Chapter quizzes based on readings and powerpoints, weekly forum on current events or issues, 2 easy exams.
Just took the online class, the class structure is very straight-forward. Class was interesting and the quizzes were easy.
I had him in an online class and he was not helpful at all. He didn't have any lecture videos and required an access code but never utilized it. I do poorly when the class is mostly reading with unhelpful videos and this reflected in my grade.
Easy A for me. He does 2 chapters per 2 weeks with a chapter quiz at the end of each chapter. His participation writing is done every 2 weeks where you have to use an outside source and relate it to course material. His tests have been fair and he grades fairly. Be ready to reach each chapter and take your own notes. HIs lectures are sub par.
This is the only class I've struggled with at KVCC. It's just reading the textbook with a quiz every week and is timed. The midterm seemed impossible to get a good grade on. I studied every chapter outline with flashcards and still barely passed. Do not take this as an online class. I could buy a textbook and read it on my own for less $/stress.
If you are looking to take this class as credit for electives DO NOT take this class. Very hard, nothing basic at all about this class as a level 100. Did not learn anything, and discussion posts/quizzes were very hard and made little to no sense.
Very clear and well-organized web class.
Respond to his discussion comments and you will be fine. Either watch the lectures or read the book and the quizzes are easy. Watch the exam study guide lectures and the exams are no problem.
Will change your grade to a zero over nothing, until you comply with what he wants. He will then change your grade from a zero back to a score lesser than what you achieved. (I GOT AN 85 ON MY MIDTERM, CHANGED IT TO A ZERO FOR NO ID, PROVE MY ID, CHANGES IT TO A 65...)
He is great professor. How ever make sure you pay attention and fully grasp on to the material that is said! Take detailed notes, questions on the quizzes and midterm can be tricky! Put in the effort! Ask questions if material is not clear to improve your success rate! Be sure you make it to class every time! Trust me you’ll want/need it!
Dockerty is good professor, he provides feedback & seems like he cares about his students. However, the book is not really used and there have been pop questions test. Be ready to read in the book, study guide overview, power points to do well in class. I wish he would let us see we what got in the test in class.
This professor is excellent at teaching political theories and such without using his own biases in the coursework. He does, however, require a lot of reading/homework from students, so be prepared to have a bit of a demanding workload. Worth it, though!
I see complaints about how "the class should be easy" which just sounds like students trying to blame him for their lack of effort. He is clear about how to get a good grade in the class & provides material for you to suceed. Read your textbook, take notes, & engage in discussions with him when he responds to your essays and you'll do just fine.
Read the chapters, participate in class, and enjoy the lectures. He writes everything you need to know on the chalkboard-- just pay attention to the chalkboard and you'll do fine. The material can be a bit arduous but his lectures are always interesting. He gave current events and related them to the topics in class, which I found interesting.
Kevin's class doesn't require you to regurgitate fact after fact, or to memorize dates or names. More application of politics to current events and issues. Way more useful than I expected. He made the class fun!
Simple structure to the Canvas page and the book is completely free online, cheapest college class I've had. The class gives a lot flexibility on what you study. It wasn't all elections and president stuff, actually pretty interesting.
Good class, if you show some interest you are rewarded. Mostly quizzes and writing assignments.
Clear class structure, simple structure, makes everything easy to understand. Not a lot assignments.
Professor Dockerty was a very kind professor, at the end of the semester he offered a makeup quiz to replace any low score, it was very appreciated as I turned a quiz in late one week (a mistake I made). But he was great, and I would recommend his class to anyone.
This class is surprisingly useful, he's really interesting when he discusses topics outside the book. The book is free but boring. If you attend class, and especially if you participate, there's no way not to do well. Every class period is worth points and as long as you participate you do well.
The class has a fairly demanding workload, but it covers interesting political topics without overt bias. The textbook is free, but dry - consider using Unstuck AI alongside it for more engaging study prep. Attend class and participate to do well.
Love this man. While I thought the subject was boring, class was not. His lectures were actually interesting to attend and he always answers questions in a way that made sense. It's not the easiest A but if you actually study you'll do good on the class. He even gave us 20 extra credit points cus the class was sad trump won. Take him if you can.
Took a PSI course online as a mandatory elective. Courses are straight up inaccessible and can't get any communication. Wasted my time and money on this grift. Heck I've already ran in local government. If you had a real subject to teach it would be available to do its assignments and wouldn't be a mandatory class to take regardless of major.
This class wasn't awful but I'm sure it is for sone. All this class is is lectures and a quiz every 2 weeks. non engaging. To pass this class you pretty much have to note down every word he says in lecture. then the quiz will only be on 2 out of 20 topics he brings up for hours and there's no way to know what the 2 will be. hard to keep up with.
The material he showed in his videos only covered about 10% of the actual quiz. I basically wasted my time watching videos that served no purpose. He is also very strict on deadlines and due dates, leaving no room for error. This was the first ever online class I have taken-- will not be taking another one again because of this experience.
This is not a class that you will be able to just skate by in. It was a lot of material to cover as a summer class but he gave us almost 2 weeks per section. I really liked that he did not show favor towards any political party and also that he gave the opportunity to earn extra credit on assignments by answering some follow up questions.
Kevin is a solid professor! He's objective, thorough, concise, gives students questions that employs critical thinking. His teachings help shape your perceptions that are useful in the world. The reading is daunting so pay attention to the curriculum. He is easy to communicate with and responds in a timely manner. Your grade reflects your effort.
I took this class as a dual enrolled junior athlete (big mistake). After doing 1 week of this class I knew I was not going to be able to keep up with everything. The lectures go very fast, and there is a TON of reading. If you were to take this class, I would recommend having a lot of free time to learn everything.
