talks fast sometimes but he's really enthusiastic/energetic.
Great class! Loved the real life stories. One of the best professors I have had at SC.
Extremely fun class for such a dry subject. He is the man.
The midterm and final were fairly easy as long as you look over the PPTs and take good notes during the class. He is really funny too.
Made what could have been a boring class really interesting (and funny). You learn a lot of practical skills I hope to use in the future
Brings a practical approach to real estate law with great real life examples. Pay attention to the slides and his lecture comments and you should do fine
BEST TEACHER AT USC!! he is so funny and makes class very interesting/entertaining. gets to know students very well if you make an effort to talk to him. breaks difficult concepts down extremely easily, and tests aren't too hard if you go to class. not much work required. hands down fav professor at USC!! wish i could take class w/ him again
LOVED the class. He brings life to the material with a great sense of humor and practical examples. You can tell he cares about his students and the subject matter! The best teacher I've had at USC!
Fields is a nice guy that wants his students to do well. He grades fairly easy, but his tests vary in difficulty. His assignments make the class worth while since you have to go to court. The lectures are very boring and no one pays attention since you can get them online and study later. Overall pretty good class if you study on your own.
My favorite class at USC. I actually looked forward to going to class - that doesn't happen very often.
Semester is almost over and I'll miss it. This is the only class I actually look forward to each week. It's no wonder registration fills up very quickly.
After almost four years, my favotite class at USC!
Funny, approachable, enthusiastic, and charming professor. Even if real estate is not your major, Fields make the class fun and interesting. 2 midterms, paper, and a final. definitely one of the best at Marshall, I wish there were more professors like him.
Great professor. One of the best at Marshall
Definitely try to take a class with him sometime at USC. He's the best professor I've had in Marshall. Everything you learn in his class is applicable in the real world. This class is WELL worth the tuition you pay. He's super clear, very knowledgable, helpful, and makes class fun to attend.
I don't usually do ratemyprofessor, but K. Fields is one of a kind. Perhaps one of the best if not the best professor I've had at 'sc.
What a great professor!! He's a fair grader and is super helpful. Teaches with a sense of humor too. Highly recommend taking him.
Such a wonderful and helpful Professor and I would highly recommend him, even if you have no prior interest in the subject. His projects are really eye opening and he's a really down to earth former trojan.
I'm a foreign exchange student from Germany. Professor Fields is one of the best professor I've had in my academic career. Take him, you won't regret it.
Love his stories about his daughter katelin. He is such a good person. Love his class. He make going to class interesting. Fight On!
PROF K FIELDS is the BEST! He makes class fun and enjoyable. His exams are sometimes hard but it's always FAIR. I wish all professors at 'sc were as great as him!!!
highly recommend taking his business law class. he has great examples, and knows a wealth of information.
One of the best teachers at USC.
One of the best professors I've had at USC. Genuinely nice guy and super down to earth. Crafts the course to be incredibly useful in both legal and business fields. Not necessarily easy, but straight forward and intellectually stimulating - really makes you think. HIGHLY recommended, FBE 458 is great with him too
One of the best professors at USC. I looked forward to going to class!
Professor Fields is one of the best professors i have ever taken in my life. He is super cool, he enjoys the classroom and loves to talk about SC football. The professor explains the curriculum fully, and he is very helpful. Easy quizes, test are tough but if you prepare you will do well. I recommend him for any class that is available.
Prof Fields likes teaching and it shows. How do you think he got a 4.9 on RMP. His material isn't easy but it is straight forward. If you can memorize terms, sit in the first rows and aren't on Facebook throughout the semester, you get an A with a little hard work. Anyone who says that he is difficult is lying. Wish more were like him.
Fields is a good guy. Class is relatively easy: 3 non-cumulative tests, and a few assignments. Nothing too hard. Unfortunately the tests are essentially vocab/memorization tests, however it doesn't take too much studying to do well. Fields is a great lecturer though, clearly interested and cares, which is a notable exception to most SC profs.
FIELDS IS SIMPLY THE BEST TEACHER AT USC! He makes law/business so interesting. You learn so much while still having fun. His tests are awesome because he uses students in the examples. While class attendance is technically not completely required, I highly suggest it because he is HILARIOUS! Tip:Find a way to get him on tangents about Disneyland!
This is the only professor I am rating at USC because he is that great! Fields is the best prof I have had at SC and he has the best upper division buad electives. Accountants- take his class for your ethics requirements! There is no hw, 3 non-cumulative exams that come straight from ppts. Go to class because his real-life examples are hilarious!
Took several classes with Fields. He always has time to answer questions and really cares. Great in class examples!
Fields is the man. Knows his stuff and has hilarious examples. Even makes questions on the test that make you laugh. Very helpful and just a cool guy. Also USC alumni and bleeds cardinal n gold.
This class requires a lot of memorization, might be hard for international students. Each exam includes about 7 chapters, and the average grade is above 80. If you study hard for the exams and go to class regularly, it's not impossible to get an A. He will tell you which slides will be in the exam in lecture. You just need to MEMORIZE all of them!
You shouldn't leave Marshall without taking a course with one of the Fields the father or the son. Kevin, the son, is a great prof. & a fellow Trojan. His classes r straightforward he gives a detail review and you should be able to pull of an A with just a little work. Comprehension is key to your success with some memorization. Fun guy! Loved him
Kevin Fields is a Funny man, He is a good guy as well. Mr. Fields teaches the subject well and knows a lot about real estate and law. He is a respected professor and always has his classes on a wait list because of the amount of students that want to take the course. I highly recommend him. He is a tough grader but doesn't fail anyone.
One of the most likable, funniest and best professors I've ever head. Really didn't even mind attending every lecture because it helps understand the material better and they are actually fun. Tests are pretty clear, not very easy, but detailed studying will get you an A to A-. Really great class and really great professor.
Prof Fields is AMAZING! If you are even remotely interested in any part of the real estate industry, this class is a must. It covers everything. Lectures are super engaging and straight forward. Although slides are posted online, it helps so much to be there. Prof Fields is so funny and always available. 2 midterms, final, & 2 page paper (easy).
Great professor, very personable personality. Teaches primarily from slides. Tests are slightly challenging but course is curved to 3.3 average. other assignments include a court visit report and negotiation report. Overall, a good an enjoyable course.
Awesome professor. I have taken two of his classes; I enjoyed both of them and learned so much stuff that I will use for the rest of my life
Great guy, great teacher, great class.
Great professor - wants you to do well and makes himself available to students outside of class. Lectures can be a little stale at times, but make sure you go because they are the key to doing well on exams. Lots of material covered in this course but very practical .
I truly enjoyed Prof Fields. His personality and sense of humor makes the lectures very enjoyable. He clearly explains concepts with personal examples and works hard to keep students engaged. He is well organized, makes all of his slide decks available on Blackboard and posts grade info regularly. It would be very difficult to fail this course.
I hated the pop quizzes. They were so random. I also didn't like the tests had some very weirdo phrased questions and he test you on the little stuff that he didn't cover. You are given a chance to contest the answers but that never really works. Lectures were kinda hard to listen to so you really needed to read the textbook. The textbook is huge!
He's funny but the test weren't easy. Idk i went into his class thinking It was gonna be a breeze but it wasn't. He tests alot of the small things so you really have to read the book. And the book is hella boring and time consuming. Almost everyone I know ended up getting a B.
He was a chill proof. But the test Average was always high so it really messed up the whole class curve. You really had to put in effort to pass with a decent grade. It was just too much sometimes.
Super chill professor. Cracks jokes all the time. Very personable. Teaches clearly. Show up to class everyday and listen and you should be fine.
Professor Fields is one cool hombre. Anyone that can take a dry subject such as business law courses, and make them fun and interesting has my highest respect. Attendance is optional; however, he does give pop quizzes that he allows you to do with a group. He also is very clear of what material he will be testing you on for the midterms.
Fields is an a great professor and an all around awesome guy. He loves to joke around and keep class fun and interesting. More importantly, his business law courses provide information that every business grad should know. I've taken two of his courses and highly recommend him to anyone.
Super easy professor. Enjoyable to listen to, funny, caring, and overall amazing. Take him!
Great professor. Really funny and enjoyable lectures. Says what topics will be on exams.
Professor Fields is one of the best professors at USC. His lectures are incredibly funny and entertaining, while at the same time informative and easy to understand. His exams are very straight-forward and have hilarious examples in regards to the subject matter. He's also very caring and easy to talk to outside of class. Take his class!
He gives hilarious lectures, funny and you can easily understand and pass if you go to class and pay attention.
Literally an all around awesome guy. Entertaining and super super useful info. He made it an enjoyable class even though the information is pretty dry. HIGHLY recommend.
I loved taking this course with Professor Fields. His real-life examples during his lectures are hilarious and help you understand the concepts easily. Tests are easy if you attend lectures, extra credit opportunities on every test!
Write down what he says is important, review slides, read the important bits and examples in the book (optionalish), keep past notes handy for quizzes and you will get an A. Hilarious, genuine, so self depreciating you begin to worry if he thinks of himself as a loser, and makes dry content easy to understand. A really good professor and person.
Fields is the best teacher I've had at USC. Extremely clear and makes dense material interesting with his examples and jokes. Attendance is not mandatory but it definitely helps, and you probably won't want to miss once you meet the guy. The textbook is not mandatory considering the lectures are pretty descriptive. Know the terms know the concepts.
One of the best teachers in Marshall, period. Down to earth, hilarious, great lecturer. Makes stuff super clear. No homework other than a group presentation. Just be ready for the quizzes and tests to be pretty hard. You have to know every concept like the back of your hand to get an A on all the tests. TAKE HIM.
The way to succeed in Fields is to listen to his examples and how he applies information. Write down those examples with the slides. For the tests, you really only need to cover the slides and his examples. He is SO funny. One of my favorite professors at USC.
Such a character. Really necessary class for all business students. The tests aren't bad at all if you study and really get into the lectures, plus he was willing to walk any pre-law students through the realities of that world upon request.
Warning very difficult class lots of material to study for the exams! Avoid it if possible. Overrated class. He's not that funny!
Easily the best professor at USC. He brings a genuine interest in the subject matter, and is able to draw on his professional experience for (hilarious) examples. Sometimes I just go to class to laugh. He is extremely supportive, posts his materials online, and the work is 100% manageable if you put in a little effort. A must take.
Professor Fields is my favorite professor at USC! I have taken both FBE 403 and 458 with him, and he turned the dense material of each into much more manageable, fun lectures. Prof Fields is the type of guy who absolutely loves USC and his students- do yourself a favor and go talk to him outside of class. Great classes and caring prof!!
Professor Fields is the perfect example of someone who succeeds not because of his intellect, but because of his personality. The class itself was rote memorization and promoted no critical thinking, but, because he tells jokes and is lighthearted, he keeps his job and most students like him.
I honestly don't see why he has such high reviews...I thought the class was incredibly easy and I learned almost nothing. Easy A but at the end of the day, you won't develop any critical thinking skills.
Professor Fields was my favorite professor at USC! The knowledge I learned in his class has been so helpful already and I have already applied. Class organization and lectures were easy to follow and his exams applied the material taught and used funny questions. I don't think I've ever laughed during an exam before until I took his exams. Thx!
Professor Fields is one of the best teachers I've had at USC. He really knows how to make class lectures engaging and interesting and I really feel like he cares about bettering the education of his students. I would definitely take his class again.
I've taken three of Fields' classes and all of them have been among my favorites at USC. He can make any topic interesting, and I'm guaranteed to laugh in every class. I appreciate that he truly takes the time to make lessons engaging, and course expectations are very reasonable. If you go to class and pay attention, you'll do well and learn a lot.
Prof Fields is hands down one of the best professors I have had at USC. I HIGHLY recommend this class to anyone whether you are interested in business or not. He is a fair grader and you can definitely tell that he cares for his students. His lectures are always entertaining and you learn a lot of important information. A must take!
This class covered many topics in law, finance and ethics that are so helpful and useful in daily life. I have often referenced back to this class for work I have done in internships and felt well educated and excited. Fields truly cares about his students and I guarantee you will leave feeling confident in the material. Bonus - He is HILARIOUS!
Professor Fields is one of the best professors I've had. He thoroughly explains law concepts and gives relevant examples. It is apparent he cares about his students and gives everyone the opportunity to do well. He made himself available for any questions. I never wanted to miss a class because he made the lectures engaging/fun.
His lectures were truly a joy to attend! He incorporated humor into each of his highly applicable examples which made them stick in my memory immediately. I couldn't recommend this class or Professor Fields in general more! I had no background in law and yet this class stands as one of my favs. Wish I could've taken another of his classes!
Throughout my USC career as a Real Estate Development Major, FBE 427 was the most valuable class I have taken. Professor Fields not only helped me succeed in his class (because he wants everyone to succeed), but he also helped me manage my day to day activities in the real world. There is NO OTHER PROFESSOR at USC that cares as much as Fields.
Loved his class! You'll learn a lot, super entertaining lecturer, and definitely knows his subject matter. Accessible after class and super friendly. One of the best classes you can take at SC! This man is amazing.
I loved going to class! I had him for both Real estate law and Business Law and he had great lectures for both. He was very clear about all concepts and always gave examples to better explain them. His lectures were always interesting and never dull. He honestly is one of the best professors I have ever had at USC! You wont regret taking his class
My favorite professor at USC absolutely hilarious and very engaging which is helpful since the material can be confusing/dense. HIGHLY recommend!
Best one at USC: real-life lecture examples, jokes to keep us engaged, 6 not-so-pop quizzes and drops 1 (open book, easy), 3 exams (with extra credit), gives reports of class ranks, 93 is an A on exams. Group project: everyone got a B+ to A, easy. Book helps. Straight forward, respectful, and caring; a classic example of what a prof should be.
Real estate law was a real treat with Professor Fields! I loved his sense of humor and charisma that just made lectures so much more fun. He explains difficult or dense material well and is extremely clear on what we need to know for exams. Definitely taking another one of his classes!
Super funny professor, makes dry concepts really humorous and interesting. Quizzes every couple weeks but you get 24 hours to complete them. Lectures matter in terms of whats on the exams. Exams themselves are fairly straightforward but were sometimes be a bit vague on wording. Participation matters but not too much. Fields is a great prof.
Fields is easily my favorite Professor I have had at USC. He really cares about his students and makes sure you do well in a class with some super dense material. He is hilarious and made online classes so much more bearable. I would highly recommend this class to anyone. Fields is AMAZING!!!!
He is a great professor. Super organized, funny, knowledgable, and caring. You learn a lot of interesting and useful material in this class. 6 quizzes (best 5/6), 1 group presentation (easy), and 3 exams (non-cumulative). Definitely read the chapters if you want to do well and pay close attention during lectures. Highly recommend this class.
Professor Fields is one of my favorite professors ive had in college. He is so funny and keeps things interesting, which makes people respect him and enjoy his class. About to take my 3rd class with him. He is a fair grader and does not give much work. The tests are heavily based off what he says in class.
AMAZING!
He is what every professor should be like - straightforward, caring, and flexible. He knows what he's talking about, stays organized, and makes sure we all have a good time. His jokes are the best part of class. I actually enjoy showing up and learning such practical knowledge. 3 exams and 5 not so "pop" quizzes essentially make up your grade!
Fields is such a good teacher - the class is really fun and he is really accessible. I always knew what to expect and Fields is extremely understanding. Class was super interesting too.
His jokes are so out of pocket and so funny, I appreciate a Professor who keeps the class light and fun. 10/10 would take again but I graduated Haha
Kevin is def my fav prof in USC. Even tho I don't have to take this course I don't regret it at all. He is so funny that I couldn't space out. Tests might be a lil hard for 2nd language students but he is a fair grader. Def the best law prof in USC you can find. Really a smart and funny guy. I would want to be friends w him personally.
Professor Fields was incredible. Smaaaart! Keeps a long class feeling short. Always interesting stories. GO SHIBA INU! Hold Fields.
Best marshall prof ever! Love him. Wanna take every class he offers.
Best professor ever!
Fields is the best professor Ive had at USC. He is extremely funny and he actually makes you want to come to class. There are in class quizzes which you can take with a group, 1 negotiation exercise and 2 midterms + final. Exams are open notes/book but make sure you study for them because sometimes the questions can be a little tricky. Take him!!!
GREAT PROF. I learned so much abt business law. this class makes me wna take a lot of business law classes. curved the class average to a 3.5+ at the end.
Kevin's one of my favorite profs. Dude's out of pocket hilarious and has a ton of interesting stories but still teaches us what we need to know. His textbook isn't the best but it gives practice Qs written by him. Tests were open note and his court visit assignment was really cool. Put in 0 effort and got an A, taking his 2 other classes next sem
Professor Fields has the best, most contagious laugh ever! He always kept the class entertained with real world scenarios and cases. You can tell he's passionate about what he teaches and genuinely cares. Definitely take his class if you have the chance!!
Extremely funny guy. You will definitely look forward to coming to Fields' class each week for his knowledge, stories, and humor. There are three exams (all non-cumulative) in which you are allowed to bring in a one-page front and back cheat sheet which inflates exam scores. Overall, the class is not too hard and there are plenty of easy points.
Professor Fields is one of the best professors at USC, and he has a reputation for it too. Every class is interesting and insightful, making it much easier to want to learn and do well within the course.
AMAZING CLASS. AMAZING PROFESSOR. You will truly look forward to attending class. A good grade, such as A- and A is very doable. You'll get that grade by participating in class, attending all lectures, taking thorough notes, and studying well. Professor thoroughly explains topics and provides great examples/application of topics.
The best professor hands down at USC, hilarious and professional lecture
One of the best humans at this school, incredibly funny and caring prof. You don't get 70 five star reviews for no reason. Very clear grading, set us up for success, curves nicely and gives nearly 0 workload through semester. Makes law somehow very interesting and deserves all the success in the future
The best professor I've ever had at USC. He has a textbook, but everything on tests are covered in class. Attendance is not mandatory, but going to lectures means knowing everything on the midterm/final. Very knowledgeable and has lots of funny stories. My friends and I only reviewed the slides for tests and did good.
I am so appreciative for Professor Fields! He is HILARIOUS -- will make you die laughing in lecture no matter what. Lectures are really interesting and he is great at answering questions. Tests are straightforward and you will learn a lot if you put in the effort! Very understanding with personal matters too. Thank you Prof!
One of the best USC profs! HILARIOUS, I laugh so hard every lecture. His humor makes him very approachable and it's never intimidating to ask questions. I genuinely feel he cares about his students and I appreciate his empathy for life circumstances. He's great at breaking down difficult topics and providing examples that help clarify the material.
I'm a junior and Fields is my favorite professor I've taken thus far. His lectures are consistently engaging, thoughtful, and full of fun stories from his own life and experiences being a lawyer. Fields has the best sense of humor, and he will make you laugh almost every class. He's also very kind and easily accessible outside of class. TAKE HIM!
LOVE LOVE HIM! Convinced me to pursue law! His class was so interesting–loved his lectures. He always related topics in class to real-life scenarios. His exams were very straightforward if you took good notes in class.
Fantastic lecturer (with some out-of-pocket jokes) and an obfuscating method of final grade calculation—I couldn't predict mine. Exam questions are challenging, and you're tested extensively on both lecture and textbook material. It's hard to miss lectures since he covers info outside of the textbook. I definitely had to work for this grade!
attend lectures helps you get the extra credit points on exams that can ultimately become the difference between A and A-. content is very interesting and as long as you make a good cheat sheet you'll do fine. no attendance required and quizzes can be online from home.
Tough grader and hard to get a good grade in this class because of the quizzes. The exams are relatively easy / medium difficulty but there is also a paper that you need to go to court to write.
Fun and engaging professor who makes law interesting. Thorough explanations, fair grading, and opportunities for easy points. Unstuck study was a lifesaver for class prep. Definitely take this course if you can.
He is a cool guy, but not sure why this class gets such a high rating. 2 hour lectures with little else other than slides. The midterms are super difficult and far from an easy A. Unless you're okay with either studying a ton or not getting an A, I would definitely avoid this class.
BEST PROF EVER! He explains subjects well, is very accessible, and his grading criteria is clear. He cares so much about his students. His personality makes it easy to learn; he is very approachable and makes learning fun. Even if I didn't do the reading I always go to class because he is so funny I cry laughing everytime. His class is a MUST at SC
Professor Fields is one of, if not the best, professors I've ever taken! No matter how tired I was, I always looked forward to class because of his real-world experiences relating to the law, but was also cracking jokes, making everyone laugh. Outside of class, he always ensured he answered emails and was always super helpful during office hours.
Truly a great professor, will take many more classes with him. 3 midterms (including final) 1 non test assignment to go to a court, which was super fun. Go to every lecture, will pretty much guarantee an A.
