He is the first the teaches that makes me like math class and want to go to that class .
He is always there to help you and he helps you understand math and get to know some of the techniques used in it .
Probably one of the best math teachers I've had. He's always willing to help and goes into a lot of detail to make sure that you understand. Assigns a lot of homework problems from the textbook but he gives you plenty of time in class to work on it and ask questions if you have any. Highly recommend!
I am taking Fink for statistics. He explains everything so clearly. I have friends taking stats with other teachersonline and all of them are lostconfused most of the time. The homework can be a lot but it is a math class. Quizzes are based off homework so study and you'll be fine. Tests are a bit harder but again study enough and you're fine!
Pretty laid back guy. If you pay attention, do your homework, and study for tests you'll do fine. I'm in his geom class that's not credited so I don't really try but I'm still passing. Easy attendance points, and tests are based off hw. On top of that hes not to bad to look at. Though I think he has a slight lazy eye. IDK. Overall hes a cool dude.
kevin is a real cool guy, im good at math and im in the lower math class so i think its really easy, but he does explain a lot and tries to make sure everyone gets it before moving on, hes there if you need help and he does a good job explaining the material, im taking his class again because hes a good teacher, drops two lowest quiz and hw grades
I do not like math, but I loved this statistics class. Professor Fink is very helpful, always has office hours, and drops the two lowest quiz and starter scores. He is a fair grader and he's funny.
Professor Fink is a great professor, made stats easy to understand and was VERY understanding.
Mr. Fink is a great professor, it's one of my best class at COD. I enjoy going to this class cause of his way of teaching and explaining the material. highly recommend him if you are struggling with math, he is available all the time to help you inside the class and even in his office hour. Take him if you need to be good in math and pass class.
Super nice guy and always willing to help. Explains things very clearly and outlines clear, concise steps to work through problems.
Fink is a solid teacher! Points are clearly laid out, and grading is extremely fair. He's always prepared for class, and does a great job explaining concepts. What I appreciate most about him is his love of math. For the potential nerd, his enthusiasm is catching. :) Class requires hard work, but it's very possible to get an A if you're diligent.
Mr. Fink is not the worst instructor but has potential. He is a very hard grader and will take off full points for minimal mistakes. I think only a couple of students have an A in the class. His lectures can be confusing at times and he puts the most challenging problems on quizzes for you to fail. Do not recommend.
Not to awful. However, half our class ended up dropping out after our 3rd exam. average was a 60% Most of the class studied too. His teaching is ok, I guess me and a majority of the class were just to dumb to understand it. Regardless if we did study and take the time to do the hw. Overall he's not bad, but he's not good.
Mr. Fink is a very nice guy! The 1st few chapters are all review of algebra. make sure you get those concepts down bc they are critical foundations. tests and quizes based off of homework. If you're confused, go see him and he will help you! Idk how students can fail his class unless youre not putting in any effort.
Fink is a great teacher, precalc is a hard class regardless but Fink explains the background and reasoning behind WHY you do this or that in math. He has hw once a week and its like 15-30 questions, honestly you will succeed if you do the hw and understand it. Exams are Q's taken from Quizzes and Quizzes is Q's taken from the hw. So no surprises.
Precalc 1 is such a hard class but Fink does a good job of making it a little easier. He gives attendance points AND homework points and also lots of partial credit on the quizzes and tests which is nice. He is really clear in teaching the course material. He's friendly and has lots of office hours. He wants you to succeed!
He is the best math teacher I have ever had. Period. He genuinely cares about your success in his class and will not make you feel stupid if you don't understand something. He takes a day to review before the tests and makes sure everyone understands the content and what they will be tested on. I can't recommend him enough!
Having taken multiple math classes, I can say for certain that Professor Fink is one of the best math teachers I've had yet! What's really refreshing is the fact that he collects homework (which is due once a week, or once in two weeks) and gives points for completing them. It gives you an incentive to turn them in, and easily succeed in the class.
He is by far the best math teacher I've had at COD. He is very approachable and WANTS you to succeed. He is always offering his office hours if you struggle with anything. Quizzes & tests are based off the homework. Quizzes and tests are pretty straight forward and some are even the examples from class! Great teacher overall!
He Grades tough which I would be fine with however the semester I was in his class By the third test just about 50% of the class dropped and almost everyone had a 60% going into the final because of the third test. In my opinion if one test does that to everyones grade then that means that no one gets the material and that is a teaching error.
Overall hes a great teacher, Its a hard class overall so you have to put a lot of work into the class to get a good grade, not an easy grader, but is fair. Hes lectures are straight to the point and honest. Hes very smart and knows what hes talking about. Very helpful, and is always there to help during his office hours. Great instructor.
Great teacher, very enthusiastic about math. Homework almost every week. Tests were not too difficult. NOTE: I took AP Calc in highschool, so this class was mostly review for me. 5 on AP exam only tested me out of Calc 1, even though the test was for Calc 1 & 2. Might be a little more difficult if you didn't already know the content.
Hw is a few sections from the chapter due each week with the quiz the next class. He goes over pretty in depth and answers any questions. The material is not easy itself so you need to make sure you're actually taking the time to study by doing the hw and reviewing questions from lecture/quizzes because the tests are the same. Overall great teacher
He makes sure everyone has the resources available to pass the class. He is available for office hours to go over things you don't know, and often leaves time at the end of class for people to ask questions if they're not sure on something. It's a tough class that you need to put effort into.
The only teacher I have taken more than once, he's willing to work with you and help you exceed in his class. The tests are hard but if you do the homework it's not as bad. If you ask a question he'll explain it step by step and help you understand it. Use the quizzes as study guides. It's a hard class but it helps having a great teacher helps.
He is a very good teacher. He is very knowledgeable and very smart. His lectures hold a lot of information. He collects homework and make sure you do it. Each assignment is 3 points, but all the assignments added together at the end really helped my grade. If you don't understand anything in class, go to his office for help. He will answer anything
Mr. Fink explains the material well, but if you don't understand it the first time, he gives you a lot of opportunities to learn it the second time. He gives you homework problems to practice, reviews in class and tells his students his office hours. Quizzes are similar to the homework problems and attendance are counted for points.
Mr. Fink is a great lecturer and genuinely is interested in mathematics. Homework is assigned out of the book and collected and skimmed for completion. Quizzes are off the homework and tests are like the quizzes. He changed our test date because it conflicted with an engineering exam most students were taking on the same day. Very cool guy!
Mr. Fink is probably one of the best math teachers I have ever had. I am definitely not a math person but I have learned more in his 1 semester class than I have throughout all of high school. He is strict on due dates and gives you points for attending class. Great teacher.
Professor Fink genuinely wants to see all of his students succeed and his passion for math is evident because he is always willing to help his students better understand the content. Tests were very fair but somewhat difficult; he explained everything well but some of the content is difficult regardless of instructor.
Good teacher ! Easy to get A
Very good teacher, Exams are extremely difficult. Homework, and attending will be key to passing. Expect to set aside at least 100 hours on homework and studying throughout the semester. Especially in a difficult class like Calc2. One of the best math teachers a COD. Your best chance to pass Calc2 will be with Fink. "Hint" Do the Evens as well.
Lord Fink is a Great teacher, really clear on the way he explains things. He sets up the class where It's easily manageable. His tests weren't bad at all, If you do the odds and evens in the book you WILL recognize a lot of the problems you see on tests/quizzes. Definitely take him, but don't sandbag. Trust me.
( WORST TEACHER ). Grading super hard like he doesn't care. explaining very fast or moving very fast like he just want to finish. The average of the first exam was %56 only 3 people got B not even A. Exam two, no one get even B. He's goals just want the students fails of his class. For attending, if you came to class and you forget to sign nopoint
I had him for my Calc II and he was the best math teacher I ever had. Unfortunately I have to transfer after my class but I really wish I could take all my math class with him. I wish he starts working in DePaul and save my life. His clarity of explanation, clear grading style and the way of organization really helped me.
Very touch grader but will explain the material,if you are already smart in maths then he is good for but if not you need an easy grader to pass
A very nice teacher. Lectures are clear and specific. If you have questions, he is happy to answer and will give you a thorough explanation on whatever your question was. Only bad thing about him is that since he assigns online hw so he does not give credit for late work. But as long as you do your work and come to class you will pass the class.
Rushes through lectures using his notes to write on the board. Hard grader on both quizzes and tests.
If you're not the best at math I suggest taking a different teacher. His tests are really long and hard. And he's a very picky grader. The averages on the tests are always betweens 50s and 60s and he doesn't curve anything or give extra credit.
although pleasing on the eyes, it was very difficult in his class. he is a very tough teacher and grader. if you don't show up you wont pass. he has this mentality where he doesn't care. if you meet him in his office he will help you. other then that very very hard.
Amazing teacher, lectures are clear and nicely explained. However no extra credit opportunity was offered and attendance was sorta mandatory, you can miss a couple of days before points start to be deducted. Respectful towards students and offering to help. Would recommend!
Professor Fink was an excellant teacher, the way he teaches is very clear and concise with his notes. He's very approachable , and truly cares for his students as long as you put for the effort. you'll do well (:
The best math teacher I've ever had. Just show up to class and take note and you'll be fine.
He will explain clearly and will help you learn gives lots of examples
Lectures are amazing, asks before moving on, always multiple examples. Pretty straightforward. Be there for notes
Awesome professor especially in my first year. Grading was great on test with good feedback.
Mr. Fink made Precalc 1471 a great class! He provided the class with many clear examples of math problems and was available all the time to ask for help. He doesn't really give extra credit so study for the tests! He gives hints of possible test topic questions so star them in your notes! Great math teacher! Would definitely recommend!
Greatest calculus teacher at cod. I would be an engineer without any difficulties if he was always my teacher. Very smart guy and cool dude.
One of the best math teachers I've ever had, if not THE best. Very simple formula--if you show up to class, take notes, study, and do well on the test, you'll do fine. Literally the definition of a solid professor. No complaints at all. But make sure you do the homework and do well on the tests.
Uses videos in place of lecture. He does not lecture during class except for a few mini lectures. He is available outside of class. His teaching style just didn't work for me. The videos don't build a good base. Is impartial about the success of students. You either do the work or you don't. All homework is online and mandatory. Just ok for me.
This Guy is a Robot. He could care less about you or your grade. He is only there because he gets paid. Dont teach, uses videos on youtube to teach one of the most difficult subjects too? Tests determine if you pass only, and never on the material he says. I think he does on purpose. MOST UNCARING PERSON AT COD TEACHING. STAY AWAY, FAR FAR AWAY
This teacher teaches by video, beware as this class is one of the most profitable for cod and you need a real teacher that teaches live. He does not accept ANY excuses for not missing class or any reason. He doesn't care about you. All points rely mostly on tests, low weighting on quizzes and hw. He doesnt EVER use book or grph calc save yur mony
Mr. Fink does not teach the class and this class is one of the hardest classes in college. I bet you will post in December and thank me you didn't take this class. You really need a caring teacher to teach you this, not a person that doesn't care. Too many good teachers here to get flunked by this one
BEWARE There is something wrong. Why all the GREAT reviews? Hmmm. This teacher teaches by on screen learning by yourself. I want a job like this. Plus he is HARD grader and I do well in Math. Take anyone but this guy, I promise
He doesn't even teach the courses in class which defeats the purpose of even hosting a Precalc class that states it isn't online based. All of his lectures are on video and he is a strict test taker. For a class this difficult, there should be physical lectures done, not just YouTube videos thrown at us. Very upset since I had to drop the class.
if you are really good in math and like to go on your owe past this class is definitely for you!!!!!!
He doesn't teach with lecture in class. Makes you watch youtube videos. Lots of homework, tests are hard and he's a strict grader. No extra credit, not curves, attendance is mandatory and he accepts no excuses. You will learn absolutely nothing in this class. Please save your money and time, sign up with another professor. I regret not dropping.
He is a really good teacher. Those who are complaining are not accustomed to a fixed class setting. He does not lecture and instead has you watch videos, which I personally liked because I didn't have to sit through an hour math class, bored as hell. Take this professor because he is soo nice, and so helpful. All you need to do is ask for help.
dude doesn't even lecture. his "lectures" are incredibly boring online videos for yourself to watch so he doesn't have to teach it over and over, it's incredibly lazy. He also has no mercy for anything, there are 3 tests and if you do bad on one of them you are straight up screwed. dude is ideal for if you already know everything 100% but that's it
Unlike the precalc reviews, he does lecture to us in calc 1 on the material. Unfortunately I never felt that they really prepared me for the quizzes and exams. I would go in feeling really confident and then he throws in different stuff that you haven't seen before into them making you feel like you studied the wrong material.
Worst professor I've ever had. Please avoid him if you want to pass or actually learn. He doesn't lecture, you watch videos he posts online. Also, he is very arrogant. He thinks he knows everything and that his way is the best way. He doesn't actually care about his students or if they are having a hard time. He's a really strict grader as well.
Professor Fink is a solid professor, he is decent at teaching and his exams and quizzes are based on the homework and practice problems done in class. He does put some hard questions on the test but only about one maybe two per test. If you do find yourself struggling Fink does office hours everyday of the week, and you can see him for help.
OK, First off, Notice the Wonderful 1 Review below, and if you read close, I guarantee you it is 100 percent FAKE. Fink allows the videos do HIS teaching. He should teach the class and don't dare ask for any help. As many has stated material on sts is NOT from studying, as I think he likes this. Do Not TAKE, WARNING YOU
Attention, I agree that positive review is Fake and should be removed, please notice how it doesn't have mandatory class attendance, thats bs because it is very firm about this and even if you have an extremely valid reason to miss, GOD HELP YOU MY FRIEND. Everything all these reviews stating that this guy lets videos do the teaching is true.
I am a very easy going person but Kevin is just so rude ! He only cares about himself and could care less for students. He tends to help females a lot, not sure why. Avoid this guy he uses videos because he does not know how to teach.
Kevin was a great professor. The class was a hybrid so we learned the material online. He would have days where he would go over the tough parts of the chapter/section in-class. Really enjoys when people come to him for help; he knows that precalc is difficult on students, so he gives as much help as possible to prepare his students for the tests.
I took this course over the summer and it was really easy to follow. He makes math videos that you can look at before class or even in class. In class you can work on your homework and ask questions. He does tell you right off the bat that if you don't work for your grade you will fail.
Best Teacher ever! C'mon if you don't put effort, what do you expect? He is very understanding and professional. I disagree about all the rude comments. I totally recommend him!
WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD IN COLLEGE. He did not teach. He made the class watch videos instead of lecturing, then if you asked him for help he would tell you to re watch the videos instead of helping you. Tests are hard, he's condescending, tough grader. I honestly think it is HIM who is writing the good reviews. DO NOT TAKE, THANK ME LATER
He is an amazing Professor! If you work hard and get 70 percent or above in all of your tests, you won't have to do a final exam which is great!
Kevin is a bad teacher. If you just want to get a C and struggle take him. There are better teachers to choose from.
Kevin Fink is no doubt a great Professor but the thing that I don't like in this class were lecture videos otherwise He is the most helpful teacher outside the class and good at answering your questions.
Kevin is rude. He clearly does not like his job. I could not wait to finish his course.
He teaches a subject that is hard for most. However he is very nice about going back and explaining things you didn't understand in past classes or simply forgot. He'll do the best he can in class and go a little further in office hours if need be. He definitely know his stuff, however he does tend to save the hardest questions for the test.
Professor Fink is THE BEST professor I have ever had. He is very accommodating to my disability. He is an amazing teacher, and he is always there to help you when you ask. His lectures are clear, and gives several examples to make sure that you understand the material. We have online homework and quizzes, but if you do it you WILL pass! 15/10
Professor Fink is one of the best professors i've ever taken. His lectures are very clear, he makes sure you understand the content and if not he will offer extra help. He encourages students to visit him during office hours for extra help, this class is hard so be prepared to have a lot of homework! 10/10 would recommend + he's funny too !
Fink was probably one of the best professors for Mathematics that I had my whole college career at COD while he seems to grade harshly it's not really the case since every math professor at COD grades using the same requirements. What sets him above the rest is that if you care he cares and his dry humor can make a dull lecture great.
Has him SPRING 18. He is a great teacher cares about his students learning the material. His lectures are in videos he made, if you ever need to look over and review you can. He literally tells you what is expected to be on the test. As long as you stay on top of the videos, show up to class, participate in class, and ask questions youll pass!
Great guy, great lecture, HARD work. Lots of Homework
I thought he was a really great teacher; granted I had him after he stopped using the videos and started lecturing again. It's really important that you come everyday and take notes because you will need them. He gives out a ton of homework but it's all on My Math Lab so you can redo problems as many times as you like. I never used my textbook.
Honestly the best professor Ive had at COD, he is so helpful and doesnt mind answering a million questions. He makes everything super straightforward and helps you understand it, not just memorize for the test. Very important to do the homework he gives, there isnt a lot but its critical
Not sure how he is w higher level courses but he made a class that's already challenging even more challenging. If you struggle with math, I wouldn't recommend him cuz he throws curveballs on tests so it's hard to even know what to study for. I took 0482 with a dif teacher and got an A. Just don't take him if you aren't good at math.
Professor Fink was one of the best math teachers I've had! There is a lot of homework on MyMathLab but it prepares for you for the quizzes and tests that he gives out. Lectures were very clear and he answered any questions students had. If you miss a day, he has a video library with all the lectures he gives. Overall great class and teacher!
Professor Fink is a great math professor. Attendance is mandatory if you want to pass. He's very chill and relatable, so most days he let us out right after we were done with the lesson. It was homework and test heavy, but aren't all maths? Show up, do your homework/quizzes, and pay attention- if you do these three things it's an easy B or A!
His classes might be a little difficult, but he will always take the time to clarify any questions you may have, just ASK. He is an excellent professor who is very passionate about math. Would def recommend.
Hill, not understand the material and expect more from you. He loves to struggle you and make you behind. He confused us between textbooks and asked us to find our way. He said half of us would drop the class, and when this did not happen, he sent us that we are Cheaters from the websites. He is too bad; I don't advise anyone with him.
Good math professor.
SAVE YOURSELF. Im a 3.9 student and this is the hardest class ive ever taken. Im not over exaggerating: Homework everyday, ranges from 12-31 questions with 2-5 parts per question, quizzes twice a week (sometimes due on the same night as a hw), grading scale is weighted heavily, not easy to follow, book & course fees are uber expensive. AVOID!!
TERRIBLE PROFESSOR. He does not care about you passing and isnt willing to help you if you do not understand the material. 0/10 reccomend. Save your money and time.
His lectures are really detailed. Every lecture gives you the examples that will be given in the homework. He is always available outside of class. I took his online course and as long as you complete all of the homework, you will pass the class.
He is very organized and has everything planned out in advance. He also sends out reminders every time to make sure we don't miss anything. The class is hard, but that's just calculus in general. Really like him as my professor.
He is good professor but you have to really work hard and check your due dates. and make sure complete your homework on time you will pass.
Hes one of the best math teachers I be ever taken. He really has you understand the concept and vocabulary in math and theorems. Always asks you if we have any questions to make sure were not falling behind. Is very organized with the courses and teachings. A big part of the grade is just homework quizzes are rare and tests even less.
Hes a good teacher. Calc in general is hard so you obviously have to work for your grade. Hes willing to help if you ask for it & hes strict with due dates. Tests are hard unless you make sure to study well for them.
I took professor Fink back last year and he was amazing!!! By far the best math teacher I have had at COD. When I had him it was solely online and even then he taught amazing. I can only imagine its even better. His lectures were easy to follow and he always made room for questions. I will say there is a lot of assignments and can be a lot.
It is very clear what is expected from you, a couple of homework each week, probably 3-4 quizzes as well as 2 tests that are the majority of your grade. He is a really good teacher however the quizzes and tests are hard which is expected from any calc class regardless. I suggest taking his class since his teaching style is really good.
Probably the best math professor I've had. Explains and teaches the material very clearly in a comprehensive way. Very patient and willing to answer questions. He uses a free online site instead of a textbook, so that's a bonus.
Great professor with online assignments and practice exams on "MyOpenMath". By far the best math Teacher at COD in my experience taking the course. He is very patient and will answer any and every question giving to him. Would love to take a class with him again.
Not open to feedback, study guides do not match content on test, always felt like I had to guess what would be included in exams. Course HEAVILY weighted towards exams of which there are few.
Probably the best math professor at cod. His tests and quizzes are pretty hard but his class actually made me enjoy math. I highly recommend him to anyone who's never taken calculus before as he makes it extremely easy to understand. Show up to all his lectures and if you pass the first exam you're pretty much going to pass the class.
He was pretty good, very forgiving if you didn't pay attention. Focus on the lectures and take advantage of his many officer hours.
Prof Fink is amazing. I took his calc 1 class (Math 2231) and it was fantastic. His lectures are very interesting and he writes the notes with the students so the class stays engaged. He explains the concepts very well and the grading criteria is easy to follow. Easily accessible outside class. If you are going in Math, take him.
He is an amazing teacher. He explains every concept in a very simple and succinct way. If you want to learn calculus, then he is definitely someone to go to. However, he is a tough tester and an even tougher grader. His tests are a lot more difficult than his quizzes. Don't get false hope. Just because the quiz is easy doesn't mean the test is
While his tests are hard, show up to class and actually try to learn. You cannot BS him or this class. Professor Fink wants to help you and is willing to do so. Homework helps out a lot too. He is very good at explaining topics so show up to class. He is for sure on of the better professors. Most of the people rating him low expected an easy class.
You will be graded on 2 tests and a final with a quiz before each test and all the homework is online. He is very strict and straightforward about what is expected of you in the class. By no means he's is he a nice teacher but he is fair.
He taught the first 3 chapters slowly and explained them well, but rushed through the rest of the material. There were only 3 exams, and he grades harshly. Quizzes and homework were not worth much. The exams were extremely challenging, and even one mistake had a significant impact on grades. I do not recommend taking his trigonometry class.
Fink is a tough professor, especially when it comes to his exams. But lectures were easy to understand and is always willing to help and accessible outside class. Be sure to take advantage of his office hours and email him whenever possible.
Best math professor I've ever had. There were 4 quizzes, 2 exams, 2 projects, and the final, and a lot of homework that weighed basically nothing but helped a lot. No extra credit but projects were free points. Attend classes because lectures are important. Overall, taught well and cared about his students. Take him- calc isn't easy anyways.
Taking this class right now during the summer, and it's really tough. There's HW due almost every night, many quizzes, and 3 exams make up most of the grade. No calculators allowed. Exams have been really hard compared to the HW, so it's hard to study for them, and he seems like a tough grader.
its NET so very fast paced which I knew but he thinks we don't struggle at all he thinks after watching his slow and lectures that only he understands will make us understand the material. I emailed him but he came out so rude and asked me to drop the class because he said he wont be lenient with the grades and failed me in the second exam too.
I took Fink online during Covid for Calc 1. Video recorded lectures were chef's kiss, I pretty much did all the homeworks without issues based on them alone. If I did have questions he reply and lighting speed. I'm talking responding in 5 minutes to questions asked at 2pm. Homework and especially quizzes prepared you perfectly for exams.
I am not fond of math. His videos made it a lot easier to understand the material though, so getting through the course has been less painful. He sends reminders daily about upcoming assignments, but there are a LOT on ALEKS you'll need to do if you take it online.
Pre cal is hard. Fink is a tough grader. He does not allow calculators for any exams and exams weigh heavy on your overall grade. Homework is just practice. He is tough...BUT he is also available if you need help. He responds to emails and he's always in his office during office hours. You just need to ask for help.
Mr fink is honestly a really solid math teacher. I like how he explains things stuff and makes sense, but you definitely have to put in the work if you want a good grade. I didn't do so good on the first test (got a 55), but he has this policy where if you do better on the final, it can replace your lowest test score, which is a huge dub.
You are the sole architect of your life. No one else will carve your path or lift your dreams into reality. The life you want waits for you to create it.
Took calculus online and it was a nightmare. Way too fast and hardly any explanations in the recordings. He just says "you should've learned this in trigonometry". Tests were very hard and he is a tough grader. I studied all day, went to two tutors consistently, and still failed. Took it at another school and got a B with minimal effort. Fink.
He's a great teacher, explains topics very thoroughly, and will answer any question you ask, with zero judgment. Homework is very heavy but easy if you take notes and such. He doesn't take any late homework so make sure to turn it in on time. he's also very accessible and flexible with office hours and always willing to help out!
Calc 1 Online. Multiple HW assignments (3/4) a week. VERY test heavy w/ only 2 tests and some non-credited quizzes (midterm 40% of grade final 40% of grade). Not allowed a calculator or scratch paper. No credit for late HW, although 3 HW assignments get dropped. Yes, he cares for students and is yes he is good at math but he can't TEACH math.
I took the online class and was not a fan.
He is a good teacher, but be prepared: semester and final exams make 80% of the grade, and test papers can be challenging. A strong foundation in pre-calculus is must, as he rarely reviews those concepts. For homework no late submission, with 34 homework counting for only 10% of the grade, which feels unfair. No extra credit.
Fink is a very tough professor, especially for those taking calculus for the first time. Tests are very difficult, and he does not grade kindly. Multiple hw assignments every week and 3 projects. 2 tests make up 80% of your grade, do not go into the midterm unprepared, even if you took calculus before. Very helpful to go to his office hours!!
There are so many things I can say about Fink. He truly prepared me for math at my four-year college. You need to work your butt off, but that's how calculus and beyond should be. If you have a long road of math ahead of you and want to be successful, take Fink. But absolutely do not take calculus online during the summer. Don't torture yourself.
Fink is a tough grader. The exam is harder than the practice exams, so even knowledgeable students need to work hard. I'd give him 5/5, but expecting calculators on HW and quizzes then not allowing them on the exam is frustrating. He seems a bit prideful, so he might not care, but that is where he lacked as a professor. Besides that, he was great.
Take his class if you're ready to put in the work. No textbook. He uses a free website for the homework and quizzes. He cares about preparing you for your next math class rather than just passing you. He is super helpful and accessible outside of class. Don't be scared to ask questions. 3 exams total. The final exam can replace a previous exam.
