Clear and helpful. I heard bad rumors but he was cool.
He is awesome, takes the time to really understand what your problems are and work with you on them. Very clear
Some explanations made things LESS clear, rumors of impatience in his algebra classes, he could be intimidating, brusque manner, favors older students. Overall very passionate about math, very organized & meticulous
Kevin is an awesome teacher for those that have a math aptitude, which I DO NOT. He looks at things mathematically every which way from Friday to explain things, which is good. If you're not strong in math, though, get a tutor FAST, go to math lab.
I didn't like his teaching style and he didn't seem to care much.

Good teach overall... but moves through subject fast! Way Hott!

He's pretty cool. Makes too many jokes about baseball though!

He explains things very well, and really helps us think statistically. He's very helpful, honest & flexible... and funny! Great teacher, I highly recommend!
This guy is a total jerk. He thinks highly of himself and doesn't explain things well.
Prof. Fox was very good at teaching his subject....if you didnt think he did, then you are dumb and can not relate to anyhting...i understood, and learned what he was teaching, though i struggled cuz im not to good at math. recommend
He is cool. You should take his class.
If you have the opportunity to take stats with a different teacher, do it! I thought I liked math before I had this professor. He lets you use your notes on tests but they wont help you with the essay questions. He says he doesn't want to "blow you out of the water" with the essay questions but he usually does.
This was a challenging class. Mr. Fox does a pretty good job on teaching. You can use notes on quizzes and a notecard on the tests. He did seem to rush through things but still a good guy . Reminded me of Jerry Seinfeld!
Mr. Fox ROCKS! Very smart and knows how to get students to learn this material. This is a tuff subject. Hopefully, future students will get to use "his" book. It's simplified, concise, and no BS. Must attend lectures or you'll be lost. No homework to turn in, but if you don't do the work you'll never figure it out. Grades fairly. Easy to talk to, a
This class was buh-roo-tall. But Mr. Fox was great. If anybody was going to rake me over the white-hot coals that is Statistics, he'd be my pick.
Great teacher. Class was easy to understand and it wasn't hard to get an A. So if your not stupid, do occasional homework, and study for tests you will ace the class!!!
I took this statistics class online, and never met Mr. Fox. But he was helpful in answering my questions via email. He provided instructor notes to go along with each lesson in the book, which were VERY helpful. Good class Hard subject. Need to practice the lessons, but no homework. Midterm and final were open book at the math lab.
I hate math and always will/have. Mr. Fox is a hard teacher but he gives all the help in the world if you ask him. If you need his help he will sit there for hours trying to help you. I am not great at math and when I ask him for help he gives it to you. He is very funny also by the way he constantly insults the book he uses. I love his class!!!
Talks way too much about things that are completely irrelevant. The class is difficult and attendance is very important. He moves at a very fast pace.
I liked him, but I had a really hard time following him. He goes off track a lot, and he doesn?t require homework but he does assign problems, I never did them, that?s probably why I didn?t do good. He lets you use notes on test, so that helps
Enjoyed his sarcastic sense of humor. He starts off tough and seemingly uncaring, but that is just a ploy to get rid of those who really won't put in any work to learn. He is *extremely* helpful if you show real desire to learn. Generous with office hours. BUT... too rushed sometimes, and too many tangents. Tests sometimes cover ground not taught.
Very nice guy and extremely helpful. He does like going on tangents here and there, but where he really is great is in his examples he shows. If you're someone who learns by watching someone do problems over and over again(repetition)then you'll do fine in this class. One other plus is that he doesn't collect HW. If you need it to help u then do it.
Not a great teacher at all. He tries to show off his math skills and throws tricks on every question on the exam. I got through with a B, but it should not have been this difficult. I don't mind a challenge, but his style was unnecessary. We had a take home test that I brought to the math class, and even the tutors couldn't understand most problems
I'm attending his class, it seems like its going to be a hard class but hes way of teaching seems to get through to me. I am actually enjoying his class im not sure if its how he's teaching his class or just him in general lol either way it keeps my attention
Mr. Kevin Fox is the most amazing teacher I have ever had. I find it humorous when I read the other comments that painted him as a hot head or as a jerk or as a man who doesn't understand his math. Of course he knows his math, he's a genius and I highly highly recommend his course. If you take the time to get a good grade, you'll pass.
Took his online class. Exams very difficult. Doesn't return phone calls or emails to help for days or week. Tons of work and difficult to understand some assignments. Tests on stuff farther in the book than you are.I would not recommend this one.
Statistics was a difficult class but Fox had his materials organized. He took a while to respond to e-mails and there were quite a few errors on the online quizzes, but once he DID get around to me there was always good resolution.
hard class, but pretty straight forward. usually allowed an index card of notes for tests. lots of assigned homework-- it's not required that you do it and turn it in, but he moves quickly and if you don't work the homework problems, your scores will show it.
He is a fun teacher. He sometimes gets off topic, but is pretty funny. I hate math, but I actually like his class. I'm taking intro to stat with him, and it is difficult, but I am still getting the concepts. If you can, take his class!
This class was very difficult. I had already taken Statistics prior to his class and he told me that my other teacher had taught me wrong. He assigned us homework, but claimed the answers in the back of the book were wrong. He taught really fast. Don't get me wrong, he was a funny, friendly teacher, but this class was far from easy.
Great teacher, this class isn't that hard if you just pay attention. I liked Fox's sense of humor too, he made the class fun and interesting.
I took his Stats course in the summer. Passed his class with a B. This was due to hard work on my part. Fox was unprofessional, the majority of his class is filled with him ranting about how much he hates Obama, the government, and the author of the text book. He does not prepare you for stats at the University level. He teaches from the calc only.
Survey of Calculus is not an easy class. He makes it interesting and he is easy to pay attention to. He will help you if you are dedicated and have the extra time. He has a really good sense of humor and will admit when he makes a mistake. He seems to know a whole lot about everything. He will share his knowledge with you if you are interested.
I wouldnt recommend him to anybody. He doesnt have office hours for online students and encouraged us to email him for ALL correspondence. I emailed him many times over the semester & if he ever did respond(which rarely ever happened)it would be at least a week later and always after due date of assignments. I basically taught this class to myself
This teacher is rude, useless, and completely out of his mind. I took his online stats class, and it was a disaster. He rarely responds to emails, or gives you just a short answer. The class is really hard and difficult to catch up with, there is nothing like a discussion forum, and he gives you a one day notice for the finals.
This teacher would never return e-mails. He doesnt have office hours for his online student. I have taken lot of online class and this was by far the worst one. It was like you were trying to teachyorself, he never had any post or would never answer your question! My advice would be to NOT take him!
LOVED his class!! If you work hard, show up to class, and pay attention there is no doubt that you should pass. A good conservative man.
If you want a clear vision on what statistics is, I would advise you to NOT take his class. He uses every opportunity to teach his version of the required text. However, his version is half assed and useless to your knowledge. His graphing calculator examples are useless in the long run. There is a good reason his class is rated one of the worst.
The worst mathematics professor I have ever had. He refused to help if you did not understand. He told students to ask for help from other students and he would say that he was not their to help us. The tests were on topics completely different than what he would lecture about. Also, the textbook that is required is just as bad as his teaching.
He just spent so little time on the work and spend more time talking about anything irrelevant to the subject
I took Math 13 with Mr. Fox and his lectures were not very thorough. He tends to make jokes that aren't even funny. He makes you feel "on the spot" when he asks a question that you understand. He is a tough grader so be prepared to do your homework and study.
Stats 14 online: worst math class I've ever taken. Quizzes: missed up to 4 points per question for being anywhere from .0006 to .01 off the right answer. And he refuses to give credit back when you point it out. It's ridiculous! Not to mention that there were several things we were quizzed on that we hadn't learned yet. Just don't take this class.
Even though this was a pretty tough class for me, I loved Mr. Fox. I would recommend it compared to the teaching styles of other professors. He will show different methods of obtaining a solution and you can easily find a way that best fits your learning style. Just keep in contact with the teacher and ask questions. Plenty of questions.
Kevin Fox is a good professor. Although his course materials had more than the typical amount of errors and typos, he was helpful and always fixed his mistakes. Note that you will be required to purchase a TI-83/84 series calculator and take the final on campus.
Very hard class. He is ALWAYS willing to help, I wouldn't e-mail him though. Just go to his office and he will help you with what ever you need. He'll give you step by step examples until you understand. You will have to do the homework, and practice, but if he see's your trying he will do what ever he can! Great teacher, explains in detail.
He is a decent teacher but gets off topic sometimes. We were talking about bell curves one time in Statistics and he went off on a political rant, so be ready for stuff like that. Make sure you study!!! His tests are tough.
Dr. Fox is a great Stats teacher. Stats isn't easy to begin with but if you don't understand something, he will make sure you do understand as long as you ask for help. He's sarcastic and funny which makes the class a little more enjoyable when you're exhausting your brain for 2 hours. Attending class is mandatory if you want to pass.
Ive had Mr. Fox for 3 classes now and would definitely take him again. He is extremely difficult to say the least but if you put in the effort you can get an A. Very helpful and extremely knowledgeable. Worth taking if you want to learn the material and don't want to just skate by.
Professor Fox knows his math very well, and has his own opinions about certain topics. I took his statistics class and it was very interesting, and he is there to help you if you need it. Attend class and study for the tests, and you will do well.
Mr. Fox is helpful, but to a certain extent. If you ask a "simple" question, he will make fun of you in front of everyone. He is very condescending! And quite narcissistic. He will say that a question on the homework was a good question because he picked it out. Always wanting to put his opinion into everything we talk about in class.
I've never had a hard time with anything math related until I got Fox as a teacher. He spent incredible amounts of time on details that were unhelpful and irrelevant. No matter how much i studied, i always felt confused on each exam. He talks fast, doesn't seem to care if the class is following along or not, & is condescending when asked questions.
Best teacher I've had! He's a very intelligent man, and he challenges you to work your hardest. Some of the things you have to teach yourself, like with any college level math class, but he's always willing to explain and help. It's nice not just to cruise along, but actually understand the material. I would definitely recommend
Fox was a wonderful teacher and his class was enjoyable. You have to be prepared to work and staying up on the homework is a must. He is very intelligent, loves what he does, and is willing to admit when he is wrong. He explains anything you need help on but expects you to try and put forth effort as well. He's a fair and clear grader.
Do yourself a favor and don't take this class online. Stats is difficult as it is let alone trying to teach yourself. You have QUIZZES on new material EVERY SINGLE DAY, he isn't super clear and all of his attachments don't work on a Mac computer. He puts questions on the quizzes that weren't found anywhere in the homework or his notes.
If you want to learn math using tools like calculators and compasses this guys for you. He wont teach the math way of some things if it can easily be done using something else. Personally frustrating way of teaching and grading.
Me. Fox is awesome! If you show up, pay attention, and do the work you will pass. Every class is a lecture so if thats not how you best learn material, probably avoid. But hes very clear, open to questions, and very helpful. He always shows multiple ways to approach a problem so you can decide for yourself which way makes the most sense.
I didnt understand anything he was talking about
Awful class, terrible teacher. None of what he teaches lines up with the required material. Worst few weeks of my life. DO not take him!!
Fox is an amazing teacher! He is very enthusiastic about math which makes his lectures exciting. He thoroughly teaches everything that he will test on and his grading is very fair. He expects you to do your part and keep up on homework but he is not a picky teacher and is willing to work with you. I can't wait to take my next math class with him.
Excellent Teacher who knows his Math on a very High level! I was not a good student so I did missed too much, specifically missed so much from just one class. If you do not study or do homework you will fail, no excuses. Very kind person who will help you outside of class and work with you.
Kevin Fox was one of the most scattered and unorganized professors I have ever encountered. I actually dropped his class because his lectures were impossible to follow. He literally would write on the whiteboard with the projector on shining other work over top of what he was covering. Absolutely ridiculous.
Mr. Fox is amazing! Honestly one of the best math teachers I've ever had. His whole class is a lecture and he does not follow the book too well. His lectures do contain everything you need to know, so if you show up, pay attention, and take good notes you will pass! He is a very fair grader and super caring and available to help. Highly recommend!
Do not take online. Only graded on quizzes worth 60% of grade 2 tests 40%. Allows one take on all and you have to take one every 1-3 days. His instructions are unclear and has you do unnecessary things for the calculator.
Mr. Fox is a great teacher that really knows the subject. If you want to learn show up and take notes and study for your tests. He grades on a curve and is extremely fair. If you do not do well then the subject might not be for you due to difficulty, but likely you just need to look in the mirror and ask did you put forth your best effort.
Awful, do yourself a favor and find literally any other math teacher. Worst professor I've ever had. Quizzes don't line up with any of the homework.
I can unfortunately say it was the worse class I have ever taken. My first failed class even though I technically got a D. His lectures were very long and pointless when it came to what you needed for the test. He knows math well, but undeniably has no clue how to teach it. No study guides, no sense of direction through homework. Please avoid him
Tough class, but Mr. Fox actually cares if you're learning the material. He gives many external sources to help, but you have to put in the time and work hard. Explains material well and will help anyone who asks!
Just bad
Teacher is completely inaccessible. Hardest class I ever took and the teacher did not return one email. I think he's approach is let the strong survive and to hell with the rest.. I would never take him again. Every student complained that he does not return e mails. It is an on line course.
Mr Fox is good at relating the math to the real world. His excitement about math and its real world uses is entertaining and inspirational. Possibly my favorite professor at Shasta College. But do your homework, he doesn't sugar-coat anything.
The online Stats 101 course was basically a teach yourself course. Emailed him 5 times and he responded once the whole semester. No lectures. Notes were from 2003. Never gave any feedback or resources. I am retaking the course online and have been introduced to so many helpful resources I didn't hear about in his class. Completely terrible.
Dont take him!
If you're really a slow learner and dont really even like math such as myself, this class is not for you. Fox's lectures make no sense sometimes, he pretty much just guides you through problems but expects you to learn on your own, basically a self learning class, this class would be for those that are really good at math already, if not, avoid him
I am not sure how I passed this class with a B. This is one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. Mr. Fox takes forever to respond. He is very anal about his answers, if you forgot a word or a period you will get it wrong. Do well on the midterm because I woke up with an A and went to bed with a C because I missed 4 questions on the midterm
Avoid taking Fox at all costs. He does not grade his quizzes and exams properly and will remove many points for minor mistakes. His grading criteria is unclear, and he is a poor communicator with his students. He had only returned one email the entire semester I took him, which he had taken a week to respond to the initial email.
I took his class Spring20 when we switched to the online setup halfway through the semester(Corona). He went from one of the most caring and passionate teachers to someone who could barely do the bare minimum. We had 2 exams, which he didn't even give much notice for and expected us to do it on a Sunday. I'll just say I wouldn't take him online...
I have taken Mr. Fox for three semester now, I took him every chance I could. He is passionate about math and knows the subject well which makes his lectures thorough and easy to follow. His tests and grading are very fair, but that doesn't mean it won't be difficult. Actually do the homework and study and you will be fine.
While Professor Fox was nice, his online class was a mess. The grades were based entirely on quizzes and tests, of which there were not that many in the first place. His zoom meetings were long and pointless, and he took weeks to reply to emails. The material in tests was often not well covered in what we read and watched. I would not recommend.
Online class. After removing some quizzes and tests he unexpectedly announced a 100 pt test with less than a week to study. No study guide, no clear definition on what ch. we need to studying. I wrote him 3 times during the semester, never got a response. multiple times we had a quiz/test that had questions on it that we hadn't learned yet.
Don't take him. The course was online, but there was no communication whatsoever. I emailed him multiple times, and he answered once. The module notes had incorrect answers and had nothing to do with the tests or quizzes. I would not recommend.
He did not teach the lessons well. I tried talking to him about it but, he showed he didn't care.
Mr. Fox is nice but I feel whenever you talk to him on the zoom meetings what he teaches you about the math homework isn't what's covered on the tests and that includes his recorded lectures.
Don't take this class if you have any struggles with math. Professor Fox is incredibly hard to reach by email and doesn't give out his time. If you need a session, he is hard to get ahold of. If you need his office hours, he cancels regularly with no notice. Almost failed due to no learning time. Avoid at all costs unless you're a genius.
If you are a motivated student who enjoys math, I highly recommend Fox. He will challenge you, help you enjoy Calculus, and provide extra credit to boost your grade. If you just want to get 3B out of the way, do not take this class! There is a lot of homework, tests are challenging, grading is tough but fair, he isn't very available out of class.
He is impossible to get ahold of and doesn't even know his own syllabus. He won't help you. He has no lecture and no guidance. His tests and quizzes have absolutely nothing to do with the homework that he gives out. Useless teacher to those who aren't math majors. I would run away from him if given the choice.
Mr Fox is a good teacher - he explains the concepts so his students will have an intuitive understanding of the material. Calculus is not an easy subject to start with - Mr Fox is more than willing to help his students master the material.
Great Professor. He really cares about the subject and if you are willing to put in the effort he will help you understand the subject matter. Only things I would say to be weary of is that he will have high expectations on your work so if you are lazy you may have a hard time, and that he grades by 7 assignments total so there's no point cushion.
His "lab assignments" were incredibly difficult, tedious, and stressful to complete, and he was completely unreachable over email. I do think he's a good lecturer, but that is overshadowed by the assignments in my opinion. There were a total of three "lab" assignments over the semester, but even that seemed like overkill due to the content.
His assignments can be hard to find in canvas and are required to be printed. He also requires graphs to be pasted in which can be a major pain in the ass. His lectures are only good if you like math, but are very important, and missing an important day can really screw you over. His tests and quizzes are easy, but his homework is HARD.
Graded assignments were hidden in the course, I found questions that had incorrect "correct" answers in quizzes, and the final exam was entirely about logarithms and compound interest. This was the first assignment about these subjects worth 100 points, the difficulty curve was very unfair. I have A's in all other classes, upsetting experience.
Tough course, but using Unstuckstudy and the textbook really helped. Professor is hard to reach, but the lectures break things down well if you stay engaged. Worth it if you put in the work.
Calc made slightly easier
I frequently tell people that Prof. Fox is the best math professor at Shasta. His lectures are well formulated to give you the tools to succeed on the homework. And as long as you are consistently challenging yourself and actually putting in the hours with the book problems and hw using the tools he provides in lecture, you will smoke the exams
I love mathematics. Unfortunately, Mr. Fox lacks the ability to teach this class with any confidence. He is unorganized and confusing in his lectures. He starts problems, fails to finish them, and often lacks direction. He assigns lengthy homework, often unrelated to the poorly written tests he gives. His top students usually took it previously.
