He is a nice guy but he thinks he is hilirious and his humor gets old fast. Lectures can be very boring but there is only one test and two papers. He is a difficult grader on papers, but he has to be easier than Brown
Expects intelligent papers that are well organized and focused. Gives you the tools to do this. Reasonable tests. Interesting texts.
Dr. Graham tries to keep lectures interesting, and he does the best possible for such boring material (in my opinion). If you aren't the typical "philosophy" student, then he is a good teacher to have because he grades on your organization of
He's a little weird but is a good teacher. Not extremely difficult and extremely helpful. Makes appointments for papers. He knows a lot about the material which helps and i found the subject of the class to be very interesting.
Dr. Graham I thought was funny, but I have a dry sense of humor. I thought he did a great job with such difficult material. He really does care about the students. The papers were easy if you just put a little effort into them. Tests were cake! Take him if you don't have an interest in Philosophy
Don't even bother. His course material is completely unrelated to the course topic and the test. Irrelevant and unneccessary.
He was the best philosopy teacher that I ever had ... and I hate philosopy. He make things interesting and fun. I thoroughly enjoyed him and he remembers everyone's name ... even outside of class. You always want a teacher that inspires and knows your name.
Best prof. I have had at Creighton, very thorough- explains everything completely, u don't move on until it is all explained. Notes are easy to take b/c he writes them all on board, tests easy, daily homework is just effort not quality, has personal consultations for papers to make sure u are on track and know what to do. wants evryone to get an a
Very caring prof who is extremely helpful. He really cares how you're doing in his class and I've never received so much help on papers before in my life! He has two papers that aren't too bad and his two tests are really easy. He's just a good guy.
Great teacher. Tests were easy and was very helpful with the two papers you have to write in the semester. Cares how you do in the class.
You will actually learn somethin in this class
Tough Tough grader on written stuff. maybe that's just for upper level classes though.
He is cute is a nerdy school boy sort of way!! Sometimes the things that come out of his mouth are just so funny. If you want a good class, to have some fun, and to learn something take this class. It just might be worth your time!!
Awesome guy. cares about all students and how well they do in his class. is available for questions and help, sets up appointments before papers for assistance. all around great guy.
material is tough, but Graham does a good job teaching it and is a a very understanding grader, don't have to read, quizes are over what was covered last period, very helpful if you go and ask him questions, first 2/3 of class isn't that bad, but final third is challenging
Walks around the front of the room sounding intellectual. His participation grade is not based on being and their speaking, but on being there and saying what he wants to hear.
He is usually very fair, but a tough grader of essays. He doesn't necessarily seem to care about student progress, but follows each point of the end-of-semester course eval to the t. class is pretty boring and requires a minimal amount of work.
Very good for an introduction into philosophy. Willing to work with students on homework and is an understanding guy. Only a few major assignments, but are relatively easy to do, but require time. Will have a little bit of fun in class and tends to keep things lively. Also tends to hop around room. Highly recommended.
I have always hated philosophy, but Dr. Graham made it a lot of fun. He is really goofy, and always makes you feel like your answer is right. The essays/tests are easy, and he doesn't care about late homework. I would highly recommend him.
Awesome, very nice.. helpful.. would recommend him if you can fit it in your schedule- makes the class enjoyable**
Great guy who is always willing to help. Raunchy humor which makes the class lively. Great with names and not much homework with easy tests. 2 essays which took a good amount of time. overall good class
He is a great teacher and loves what he does. He is a hard grader though. You have to give him exactly what he wants on essays or your in trouble. Show up to class and it will be a lot easier.
The class itself is pretty easy. It gets a little tricky at the end but not too bad. Simple quizzes and tests. Graham gives a participation grade, but loves to interrupt when you try to speak in class. Can be frustrating at times. Not the best lecturer, but fortunately the material is easy. Does a good job of hammering down the main points.
He is so passionate about what he's teaching that he really makes you excited about philosophy. There are study guides with all the readings so it's an easy way to get some points. Also, he's really helpful when it comes to the 2 essays for class. He walks you through exactly what he's looking for and has advising times. TAKE HIM!
Arguably the most "professional" professor at creighton. He really knows his stuff and explains it in a way that you can actually relate it to your own life. If you ever wanted to know more about ethics and how to live your life "ethically" then take him. It is a demanding class but it would certainly be worth it. This class made me love philosoph
Dr. Graham is a great guy and an interesting lecturer. He grades your paper like it is going to be published as a NY Times best seller. He wants everything exactly his way and if it's not, he rips the work apart. Also gives a participation grade--seems to be unfair. Even if you go to class every single day, you can get a C for participation.
Dr. Graham is really nice but pretty boring. You have to go to class because he gives pop quizzes on the readings (which are pretty easy). He gives a review sheet for the tests and the essays come straight from it so it's really helpful. If you don't like participating in class, don't take him.
Class is quite easy. Readings are pretty simple. Papers are graded rigorously, but As are quite attainable. Class wasn't all that stimulating, it was the only one I skipped. He uses an adjusted grading scale, which makes getting an A in the class quite difficult, even with As on the papers and final. Low work load, decent for the core requirement
I was skeptical about PHL because I didn't think that I would be very good at it or like it (sciences all the way!). Both turned out to be true according to Graham. For an intro level PHL class, I wouldn't take him because the class is too subjective. He's not a bad guy, it just wasn't a good first experience with PHL. But I took 250 and LOVED it!
He is the living definition of pompous. He has you sign a ridiculous "academic integrity pledge" for EVERYTHING! He is rather helpful during paper consultation times. The readings are very time consuming and rather difficult to comprehend. The reading quizzes killed my grade.
I came in to PHL 107 thinking it would be easy; it was not! Dr. Graham is extremely unhelpful. Philosophy is supposed to be your own opinion, but he does not see it that way, making it impossible to succeed. If you learn differently, prepare for his quizzes! he doesn't take disabilities into account. Worst professor I have taken. Avoid him.
Outlines what is expected very clearly. 1 mini paper, 1 5 page paper. Meet with him to discuss papers and write simply and clearly. I got an A, definately attainable B
Goes out of his way to help you, but he does not take student opinions into account. Just give him back exactly what he tells you and swallow your pride in your essays. Can also be slightly awkward in the way he phrases certain points. He has no problem marking you down in essays- get help on them.
I liked him as a person and he's really interested in the subject, but I do not recommend taking this class, unless you're okay with working your hardest to not come close to an A. He's a super though grader and has a high grading scale. He's willing to help with your thoughts, but that won't chance your grade. Take theo 250 or another prof.
Extremely enthusiastic about the material and a great teacher. However, he is a very hard grader and has a very high grading scale for the difficulty of the class. It is very hard to get an A, even when a lot of work is put into the course. Great person and good knowledge of the materials-willing to help but once again. does not give a's.
Not sure how people can call him a tough grader. I have a 96 going into the final. Its a 93% for an A but most philosophy classes are on that scale. 11 one page essays that are a completion grade. 2 tests and a final. 10 multiple choice and 1 essay (2 for final). One 6 page paper. Don't even need to read. Slides have all the info you need. Take him
I have absolutely NO interest in Philosophy coming into this class, however, he made this class fun for me. He is an excellent professor and he has genuine interest in his students. He helped me a lot on both papers that we had to write and his quizzes are easy, so long as you read. Overall, this is a good class to take.
Dr. Graham is great professor. He's interested in the subject and explains the material very well. He really cares about each student doing well (he even learned the names of everyone in my class of about 30). Frequent open-note reading quizzes, but the readings are usually short. I would strongly recommend taking PHL 107 from Graham.
Dr. Graham is a difficult professor, no doubt about that, but he is beyond willing to help out and really pushes you to become a better student. I would definitely recommend him as long as you're willing to work hard. His sense of humor is also hilarious!
Graham is a good guy, but this is a lecture based literary analysis course, NOT a philosophy course. Easy A, but the class isn't exactly fun.
I'm sorry his easiness level should not be that high. He is a hard grader, he contradicts the advice he gives when grading, and he chooses favorites. There is reading everyday, at least a 1 page paper a week, and an impossible 8 page essay thats worth half your grade. DO NOT TAKE HIM UNLESS YOU WANT A LOW GRADE. take the class through Metro.
He is a nice guy, but an awfully hard grader. He assigns a lot of hard reading and test you on that on the pop quizzes without explaining the concept earlier. A lot of homework and two essays that basically determine your grade. I do not recommend him. If you don't plan on being a philosophy major DO NOT TAKE HIM.
Excellent lectures. Very passionate about philosophy. Will help you out if you're struggling. Not an easy A though. Gotta put the work in.
His intro philosophy class is not easy, but he guides you through it very well. There are two main essays and he does a wonderful job of preparing you and even gives you time to meet with him outside of class. The random reading quizzes can be tricky and make you stay up to date on reading, but other than that my most enjoyable class.
Great professor. If you do the exercises he gives then you will do well in his class. Fun and enthusiastic about the subject he's teaching. Frequent in group class activities. Fair grading. Would recommend taking this class.
I enjoyed his class, but it wasn't a breeze. There are 10 open-note quizzes that can happen at the beginning of any class so make sure you read or do the study guides he gives you. He provides you with past exam questions, and the exact essay questions that will be on the exam, which is nice. If you struggle, talk to him. He's very helpful.
He really cares about his students. There are a couple of important essays and a few tests, along with pop quizzes but he will make sure that you know the material. Just make sure you read and you'll be good. He sets aside a lot of time for meetings before the essays so you can talk to him and he'll pretty much tell you straight up what to do.
Genuinely good guy. Class isn't *easy*, but definitely manageable.
This is not an easy class, but Dr. Graham is a fantastic teacher. He genuinely cares about this students and is pretty entertaining. He's a hard grader for papers, but is willing to help! His tests aren't easy, but he gives previous tests to use as study guides.
This class is not easy, but Dr. Graham makes it both easy to follow and interesting. Always do the readings, it will help you with pop quizzes and class discussions. Participate frequently. He replies to your emails quickly and makes time in office hours and outside of class. Actually cares about his students, learns everyone's name. Great teacher.
Dr. Graham cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Even though you have to read, and you can have random reading quizzes, he makes class fun. I already signed up for his other class next semester, and I recommend him to anyone for any philosophy class.
Best professor I have ever had. He really wants students to succeed and he puts in a lot of effort to make that happen. Class isn't easy but it is interesting and I've never really been burdened by the work. I have taken 3 of his classes and adored every one. If you are into Philosophy take any of his classes. He's really the best!
Excellent class. Moderately difficult but Graham wants you to succeed and does everything he can to make you understand the material. Great introductory Philosophy class.
Dr. Graham is one of the most passionate teachers at Creighton. I took his Philosophy of Law class (thinking it was going to be hard AF), but he is super fun, explains everything well, and makes a 9:30 AM class fun. He has 2 major writing assignments and pop quizzes (aren't hard, literally open note and same questions as homework). Love him!
This is my second class with Dr. Graham and I have even more respect for him as a professor now. He cares about his students SO MUCH. If you want someone who wants you to succeed, Dr. Graham is the best choice. He has a clear syllabus, a great attitude in class, and the work he gives is not busy work, it's so you can truly learn. Take him!!
Dr. Graham is a great teacher! He cares about all his students and does his best to prepare them to succeed in his class. With that being said this is still not an easy class. He really makes you work for an A. Be prepared to read a lot, but Dr. Graham makes the class interesting and fun. You have only 2 tests, but you have to write 2 big essays.
Dr. Graham is a great professor and person. He is one of the best professors I've had at Creighton. He really, truly cares about his students, which is not something you find in every professor. You have to go to class, pay attention, and do the assignments, but if you do this you will do well in his class.
Literally the best professor I've come across so far. Makes a conceptually difficult class really fun and interesting. Not gonna lie, pretty difficult class at times, but he cares about your success and makes sure students leave class understanding everything covered in class. Highly recommended.
Dr. Graham is a passionate professor that knows how to portray philosophy to students. His lectures are fun and kept me awake and attentive even at the worst 8 am mornings. It is important to read the material if you want an A, but he outlines what you have to do to get a good grade very well. Highly recommend this guy.
Dr. Graham is basically a gift from God. His class is pretty difficult but he cares about his students so much. He really wants to see his students succeed and is always willing to help. I highly recommend Dr. Graham and will definitely be taking his classes in the future.
I thought I was going to hate this class because philosophy is NOT my thing, but I actually really enjoyed this class. Graham is super accessible outside of class. The homework and quizzes are not too difficult. The essays are a bit tricky, but the writing center helps A TON!
His grading is pretty arbitrary. An A is possible, but requires a lot of work on the essays and final essay. I would avoid taking him if you can as there are lots of easier PHL 100 level courses. If you have to take him, do not read. Just watch the online lectures with good notes and try to meet with him about the essays.
This was maybe one of the most worthless classes I have ever taken. I had previously taken philosophy in high school and learned a total of 0 new things from this course. There is a total of 15 homework reflections that total up to 5% of your final grade. SO basically, homework in this class is a complete waste of time. Test and quiz-heavy class.
Amazing professor! You can really tell he cares and is passionate about what he teaches. He makes his classes very interactive and you have to participate a lot, but it really helps you understand what is going on in class better.
Dr. Graham is one of my favorite professors! He treated our class with such respect and kindness, and although the class is rigorous he provides a lot of support. I'd take this class even if it weren't required; I learned so much and came out of it with a new perspective on how to apply philosophy to modern issues.
terrible teacher, harsh grader.
Professor Graham is so sweet and his class is interesting, but he takes forever to grade things and when he does, he's a hard grader. If you are looking to fulfill a magis core requirement, go with someone else.
I learned a lot from this class and Graham was a great teacher. That being said, it was not an easy class. Being a MAGIS course, it took a significant amount of effort, so beware. He does not let you slack off and he grades pretty hard. He knows what he is talking about and wants you to learn. Learned a lot, but it was by no means an easy A.
Dr. Graham is my favorite prof at Creighton. If you're not willing to put work in, definitely don't take his class, but if you consistently put in effort his class is enjoyable and you get a lot out of it. Very accessible outside of class, there are a few essays worth a lot of your grade but he goes over exactly how he wants you to do it.
This is a tough class, but it's very interesting and I learned a lot. Weekly readings, four exams that are actually essays, and one big essay. Dr. Graham will always meet with you and go over your work before you submit it and makes expectations so clear that it's hard to do badly if you follow his instructions.
You will be challenged in this class. There is a lot of reading and it requires a lot of work. Dr Graham will treat you like a college student and hold you accountable. He is such a sweetheart though and he cares about his students.
Such a sweetheart of a professor. He really introduced me to how to study in a college setting and connected what we were studying to the law which was good. He is very busy so booking an advising appointment might be hard but overall a good introductory professor
Dr. Graham has his quirks, but he is a genuine dude who cares for his students and their needs. He has an unique style to his lectures, and he can inadvertently be pretty funny sometimes. This class is not that hard if you just pay attention to lectures and take decent notes. He basically tells how to do every test and essay. Sweet guy, solid prof.
Dr. Graham is a very quirky nice guy, and his lectures were engaging. But this class was super hard for a Magis core class and you need to put in a large amount of effort to get a good grade. Get ready to be writing and studying constantly.
Class is a ton of work for a magis core class. Nice guy who's inadvertently funny but I wouldn't take unless you're a philosophy major.
This class is an insane amount of work for a magis. K.G. is definitely a chiller but man this course is roughie.
Dr.Graham is super nice but be prepared to read a lot. There are a lot of reflections which end up being 2 pages. Sometimes two reflections a week and a quiz. Hard to get a good grade. Frequent quizzes which are impossible. Exams are short answer and you only have 50 minutes.
This was by far the hardest class I've taken here at Creighton. He is a funny guy and has amazing lectures. I STRUGGLED with his quizzes and failed multiple of them but they only count for a small part of your grade. He will treat you like a college student and hold you accountable. DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU ARENT MAJORING IN PHILOSOPHY
Graham is a really smart guy, and his class lectures are super interesting and he always keeps you engaged. I will say if you aren't interested in law or philosophy don't take this class. But if you actually care to learn and apply yourself, the stuff you will learn is awesome. He's a tough grader but always gives rubrics and comments to help you.
Very hard course for a Magis Core, highly don't reccommend unless you are willing to spend countless hours on preparing for quizzes and reflections. One essay that is worth 30% of your grade. 4 written exams, only nice thing is he allows you to bring a note card.
The class itself is interesting, but he is a very harsh grader.
Philosophy of law. It's reading heavy and participation matters. Also, there are a lot of seminar essays that have a tight and strict schedule and if you are late or miss one of the essays your grade is screwed. The final term paper is a bit stressful but he gives you feedback on your draft. He's a tough grader but I learned a lot.
I've had him before and this class was awful. The organization of this class was awful. We would learn the material outside of class then we would come in and he'd work out a few problems with us. I spent 15-30 hours a week on this class alone. He is a good teacher usually but the way this was structured was bad. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE FOR LOGIC
