His class if very interesting. You don't really have to take notes, everything for the tests come off of his online review sheets. There is also no book to buy so it makes this class very inexpensive. I recommend Prof. Jefferies to anyone!
Easy class if you have the time and willing to put in an honest effort

The class is boring as all hell, but he's a cool dude. He's funny and he makes it as bearable as a government class can be. I hated the subject matter but I still took him for both semesters. I passed with minimal effort.
Professor Jefferies class for the most part is real easy and fun you dont have to take notes but there are four papers which go along with the four tests (all m.c. and t.f. questions) the topics of the papers can be tricky but I managed. Read your assigned chapters and the online notes and use the review he gives you you will do real well He rocks!
I really enjoyed his class! He's an interesting guy!
His class was fun because he is literally out of his mind. He verbally assualts his students, but atleast he made us laugh. He's extremely intense and more than once he blew up on the class. Once he asked if we wanted to wear "dunce caps" and do construction paper prodjects. Overall his class was easy to make a good grade.
I don't know what happened to this guy, but he isn't funny, like the comments below say. His lecture doesn't help at all for the tests, so i wonder why i took the class to begin with. He has an attitude, and we just stop teaching if no one answers his questions. if you want to go listen to an uptight middle-aged politician,Mr. Jefferies can dobette
Very entertaining professor. Expects you act like adults, stay engaged in lectures and read the material. Does not like bad attitudes or laziness. Not going to just "give" you an A, but does go above and beyond to teach you what you need to know so that you can earn an A. Make sure to take 2301 before you take 2302 or you will be lost.
Very good lectures, makes you think! Best part NO BOOK!! If you are rude, don't participate, then you should be wearing dunce caps and making things from construction paper. If you're offended, he's probably right. He's always willing to work with those who actually care.
I took Mr. Jefferies through an online course. You didn't have to go in all semester for the online course, everything was on the internet. We wrote short papers EVERY week as the assignment, so if you do not like writing he may not be for you. We also had to write two 1,000 word essays. I REALLY enjoyed his class and I'm taking him again for 2302.
i took him online and it was a very easy class as long as you do the writing assignments you will do fine Just make sure you go way over the world limit and you are sure to getn an A =)
Can be cool sometimes, but watch out!!!
i took him for summ11 wk 2301, and we did 2 papers, easy. and he canceled the final in order to have time to work on the 2nd one. hes kinda funny, makes u think and he goes off topic alot. all the quizzes are 4 short essays per week and he will count off pts if late. however, if u have an issue of why cant do work he will help. class is very hard!
Before I took this class I heard bad comments and was a little scared going into his class. He makes the class as interesting as possible, and has everything online for you. Take a laptop makes things more enjoyable. He tries to involve the class in the lecture, weekly quizzes aren't hard, 2 papers, a final, I recommend him.
Took his online class. As long as you do the work and turn it in on time you will be fine. You have weekly assignments (he cancels one) and two papers. Pretty easy class. If you take is online class, you don't need a text book. He puts everything online.
Very easy class. Took his online class. He doesn't like blackboard so he uses another site. There are 13 weekly assignments and two papers and then the final. You don't have to buy a book for his class either. He puts everything on line that you have to read. Most of the time the reading material is linked to wikipedia.
I took Jefferies for both 2301 and 2302. He is very passionate about what he is teaching. He gives a quiz over his lectures on Mondays, I did find his class to be boring at times if you do miss a lecture he does post his power points online. Overall it a pretty easy to get a B, it takes some work to get an A. No book needed!
I took Mr. Jefferies class online this summer. The work was very fair and easy. He always has powerpoints and links to give you information. They essay questions every week are sort of hard, but you can get through them. The quizzes every week are pretty easy. I would recommend him as your government teacher at ACC.
I found Mr.Jefferies knowledgable, passionate about Gov't, & fair. Took Govt I online, & Govt II in class. Lectures are a delight! He likes essays so you Will be writing. Wkly quizzes; pay attention & you'll do well. He's interested in students' ideas, encourages active participation, & is respectful & kind. I learned a lot that I won't forget
Took his class online this summer. Class is time consuming, but essays are not to taxing, tests are multiple choice so if you study and put in some effort to learn the material you will do fine
I'm taking Jefferies online class and I'm on my 3rd week assignment and I dont understand a word of it. he expects you to read every word of his boring blog and visit EVERY link or youre not going to understand what hes talking about. he expects everyone to be super excited about politics and do outside research on every topic.TOO MUCH READING!!!!
He speaks way to fast and never really stays on track some of his essay questions are confusing and there is way way to much reading!! And a lot of it doesn't even make sense!
Took GovtI online & GovtII in-class. Online was hard b/c so many links; lots to sort thru for essays. GovtII lectures were delightful! He's interesting & funny! Does talk fast - but mc-tests are based on PPTs. He's big on current events, well tho't-out essays, and vigorous student participation during class. I got A's, but they weren't 'easy' A's.
Good teacher. Just stay tuned into the online portion and you got it made
I took 2301 online in the first 5 in summer I and it was so difficult to keep up that I decided not to take 2302 with him in summer II. There is way too much due at one time. Like most others I have a full time job that's why I prefer taking online classes and it was just ridiculous. Hundreds of powerpoint slides per quiz, plus a webpage to be read
As long as you read the powerpoints the class is very easy to follow. I work full time, have two kids and was able to easily manage this course during the summer. Everything you need to know is in the powerpoints, read them and you should do great.
He is very funny, and all of the work is online.
Alot of writing
This class is really not that hard. You have a paper once a week of 150words and 2 quizzes that come from the power points. Just make sure to skim through them and you can make A's on all the quizzes. Great teacher and i took him for govt 2301 and 2302 online and have enjoyed both of his classes
All of the work is basically online. You have one essay to write per week (which is easy), and a online assessment that goes along with the powerpoint. Just read the powerpoint and you should be fine! There really is no need to go to class since you can do it all online.
Dr. Jefferies is a great professor; while he tends to ramble, he covers everything you need to know for the two weekly assignments. However, if you're not opinionated, it can be difficult to score well on the weekly essays. He's hilarious and quite interesting.
Amazing teacher. I have taken his online classes for history 1, 2, gov 1, & now gov 2. He has decoded the language of Government for me, which no other teacher could. He offers a plethora of information & breaks things down in a way that makes this class seem almost easy even though it was my worst subject in highschool.
Dont need book. He uses power points as chapters and has quizzes over them that aren't super easy and due every monday with an 150 discussion. Think he's a liberal and takes points off if your not.. easy B tough A.
Very boring but the quizzes are easy as long as you read through the powerpoint and dont rush through them. On weekely writing assignmenmts as long as you answerthe question in a semi intelligent way, you'll get an 85. Follow the powerpoints and you"ll make a B at least
This professor was very helpful! He worked with me on everything. I recommend him to anyone.
Mr. Jefferies is an excellent teacher! He challenges his students to think critically and way out of the box. Having taken his classes, I now believe I am an educated citizen, which is the goal of GOVT classes. You must stay on top of your assignments, or you will be overwhelmed if you slacken. Pay attention to daily news, both local & national.
In Dr. Jefferies government classes, it is easy to make a B, but making an A is very difficult. I takes staying on top of every assignment and preparing for the final exam. Dr. Jefferies is an excelent professor and will keep you entertained.
Jeffries is an awesome teacher, kinda cute too! Attendance is not mandatory, but it is extremely helpful. I would highly recommend taking his class!
He is not helpful and is really sarcastic. Got A's and B's on all of his quizzes but received a C because I failed the final exam (the only test he gives) and so did the majority of his class. DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU WANT A GOOD GRADE.
I definitely do not recommend this class, if you must take it, do it online. I literally fell asleep everyday in class because nothing of what he talked about was relevant to anything taken for a grade. He lets you know on the first day of school that you'll fail the final, there's better options than him, def. take them
Take his class online. No one goes to class because all he does is cover material you wont be quizzed over and all the work is online anyway. you are much better off doing the work at home (there's a lot of it) where you can keep the power points open to find answers.
If you don't have the willpower/time to sit through hundreds of powerpoint slides, this class is not for you. Lots of quizzes, all open-note with unlimited chances. Do well on those because the final exam is difficult. The writing assignments are relatively easy if you put some thought and effort into them.
Online course was VERY difficult! No textbook and hundreds of slides to sort through that were riddled with typos. 30 quizzes (full of typos and wrong answers), 4 writing assignments, 1 essay, and a comprehensive final exam all in 5 weeks. I don't think that it is even possible to make an A in this class.
When you ask him to clarify an assessment he will copy and paste the syllabus and not help you. His quizzes are easy since you can take them multiple times. Take online and figure out a system to get through the class without dropping it. Definitely a stressfull 5 weeks.
The work wasn't difficult, however there was so much of it I was unable to stay ahead. There's an essay every week, endless power points with quizzes (open note, mulitple attempts) a 1000 word essay, and a difficult final. Do well on the quizzes to balance out the final. I do not reccomend this class for those looking for an easy A.
Very difficult to get an A in his class. Only B's I got were from the government courses I took with Jefferies. You basically have about 30 quizzes you have to take online, one essay, weekly written assignments, and a final. The final is impossible to pass. I still got a B while failing the final as I got an A on everything else. Got lucky.
He likes to lecture but rarely takes questions with no discussion. At least 2 quizzes every week plus a paper. Critical Essay on a novel that is 25% of your grade. I enjoy the subject matter yet find this class daunting and more work than it should be compared to others. Do yourself a favor and find a different instructor.
I would definitely not take him again. His lectures in class are extremely boring. The lecture has nothing to do with the quizzes in class. I loved government until i was introduced to his class. The work is too much compared to other classes. I do not recommend anyone to take his class!
Class isn't mandatory, mostly everything is online. Keep up with the quizzes or they will start to get overwhelming. His lectures in class are just over the power points that go along with the quizzes. This class was extremely stressful and I had to work really hard to maintain a good grade. He goes out B's fairly easy but really hard to get an A.
Only one test the final. A cool person, but not a class to take if you need to actually learn the subject.
I took his class online and got a B there is a lot of material an slides ,but he's so cool if you talk to him in person. By the way the quizzes are the final so just look at those for a review. The paper was easy considering I never read the assigned book. It's easy work ,but a lot .The only bad thing I'll say is that they were too many slides.
there is no syllabus. Its on his website that is extremely disorganized. This is also a self taught class. Lecture is scatterbrained. Cool guy, but Lectures are boringfutile and in order to learn the material, you must read the 200+ slide powerpoints. asgnmnts never discussed n clas His lecture course is still an online course. do not recommend
You have to take probably 50 or so quizzes online that are over 50 power points at about 3 per week. Attendance isn't necessary except near the beginning and end of the semester. Scraped by with an A just make sure to get 100's on all the quizzes. The final isn't impossible but its what almost made me fail. Keep up the pace and you'll do fine.
Ridiculous amount of work.. So many quizzes.. Yes, they can be retaken but there are 35-40 and can take 1-2 hours to complete one ! 200+ slides per quiz. The final is impossible. Impossible class of you have a job children other courses.
VERY confusing teacher. INSANE amount of assignmentsquizzes & reading. There are tons of power points at least 200 slides each. THIS class HAS to be your main focus to pass with a good grade. Final is insanely long and tough. You can ask questions but will never receive a clear answer. I was miserable this entire course!!
Tough, but fair grader. Final is tough, but probably should be. Allows unlimited retakes on quizzes. Some PPs have a lot of slides, but some don't. Way better than a textbook. Encourages students to figure things out on their own (like an adult would do). Manage time wisely to complete work. Cool guy if you talk to him.
So much coursework to be done. At least three quizzes a week combined with a weekly written assignment. Don't bother going to class because he's just going to go over the powerpoints which are also posted online. You can get a decent grade if you just read the powerpoints but beware, most are like 100+ slides long.
Personally do not recommend. He's a great guy but when he talks, he never gets to the point. I learned more from the quizzes than I did from going to class. Gives quizzes every week that go with the power points. Power points are at least 100+ pages. No tests except for the final, which is very difficult. Really, don't even bother going to class.
Took as a 5wk course. 31 quizzes, a short 150 word assignment each week, one 1,000 word paper, and a final. Quizzes are based directly off his powerpoints which are LONG! Anywhere from 100-200+ slides. I managed to get a B in the class but you have to stay on top of the course work. Don't slack off, or you'll get behind. You can retake quizzes.
There were over 30 Power Points of 120-250 slides each WITH 1 quiz each so it took forever. The quizzes are the final. You have a paper due every week & 1000 pg essay at the end. If you don't do everything, you will not pass. This said, he is really funny and if you do the work, you will pass with no problem. It was hard, but you WILL learn
Although there is a ton of daily grades, this class is not hard to do well in if you put in the effort. Prof. Jefferies' keeps his power points humorous and the writing assignments involve current topics to keep things fresh. The final test is challenging but your final grade does not depend on it. I would recommend this teacher.
personally, he's a cool guy; but when he is lecturing, it's not entirely clear on what he is talking about. the class is not hard, you just need to put in a lot of effort. much quizzes which are helpful for your grade, but they are lengthy like the power point slides.
Attendance is not mandatory. Lectures have nothing to do with material on weekly quizzes which are over the slideshows he provides over BB. They are really long by the way! Most of them are over 100 slides. You can take them over until you pass, though. Also has weekly written assignments, they are not hard though.
The class was very difficult to follow because of the fact that he would jump around to different power points and you would have no time to right anything down. Everything is available to use online. I should have listened to the comments and taken the class online instead of in person. He does not take attendance and barely knows your name.
I can't say anything about his campus classes because I haven't taken them, but his online classes aren't difficult at all. The quizzes are doable if you read the power points and you get unlimited tries on them. The weekly writing assignments are difficult but may be a bit confusing at times (for me anyway) and the essay isn't hard at all.
This was a good class for an online course. Each week you download slides for your reading and go through those. You take quizzes which are based on the slides and you can take multiple times. Each week there is also a short writing assignment. I thought this class was very easy and would take this instructor again.
I am currently taking his summer online course. There are 32 quizes that you'll have to take at least 8 to 10 a week to finish them all. Each quiz comes with powerpoints that are over 200 slides long. Each quiz can be taken multiple times, but you'll spend 4 hours plus on each one minimum. The amount of work is INSANE for a summer course.
He's an okay teacher but be ready to look at 150+ slides. The final grade is divided by 4 things. Essay 25%. Quizzes 25%, Weekly writing assignments 25% and final25% There's 33 quizzes total and he lets you retake until you get a 100. The final exam is pretty tough. They're based off the quizzes. 180 questions in 2 hours! Be ready to PLAN AHEAD.
Took his online GOVT 2305. No book required, but TONS of powerpoints and documents to read. There are 32 quizzes of which you get multiple tries to take. HOWEVER, there are several answers that are correct and marked incorrect, one try an answer may be right and the next try the same answer may be incorrect. Not recommended for mini courses.
He was an okay professor. I was self motivated so I didn't have a problem staying on top of the material. Beware his spelling errors and he does have mistakes on his quizzes. The upside is you can retake them and mark what he said was the right answer and no not what the actual right answer was.
I would recommend taking his online courses since you really don't need to go to his lectures to pass. His online class is easy if you do everything on time. You can take the quizzes multiple times, but sometimes (rarely though) the questions are bugged and you may lose a couple points. The final exam is hard but is almost entirely quiz questions.
I took 2305 & 2306 in summer 1&2. He was very fair, but class requires time. We had a weekly writing assignment, essay, final, and quizzes. Each quiz he posts a corresponding powerpoint (these can be lengthy, but replace textbook) & you can retake a quiz as many times as needed. The final exam was long, but is a small portion of your final grade.
I liked his class because it was clear about what he wanted, beware there is A LOT of reading and quiz taking! Class attendance isn't mandatory, he goes on detours a lot, in fact I would recommend it online it's the exact same work. The writing assignment every week is easy, just hit the minimum word count. The final is terrible! 100ish questions!
Not really organized well, get ready to read, powerpoints are always at a minimum of 150+ slides. Final is 180 questions long in under 2 hours. Final is nothing like the quizzes during the semester. I recommend being on top of your work. He is a tough grader. However, if you do good on quizzes and written assignment, then you should pass easy.
Great, professor . You can tell he loves talking about government. Don't talk when he talk though, lol.. I took his class in the summer at the stafford campus HCC. As long as you read and complete your assignments you'll be fine. In the summer we did are quizs together so that was a plus. Good guy , I really enjoyed his class.
Professor kevin talks fast! I MEAN REALLY FAST!!! you gotta do 90% of the work of your own. He loves government and he knows almost every legislature dealing. lol! you need to be on time. complete class quizzes everyday. 1k words essay. and 2 major test, with a 100 question final....
I enjoyed having Professor Jefferies throughout his 5 week course! Overall, there was approximately 30 quizzes, 5 exams with 60 questions each, an 1,000 word essay, and a 120 question final. It may sound overwhelming, but if you can dedicate some time to completing each assignment, reading, and utilizing your quiz retakes, you will get an easy A :)
I liked his class, he was funny but he sometimes did not answer the questions you gave him
I took Professor Jefferies' online 16-week class. He gave good feedback on all written assignments, the quizzes prepare you for the tests, and you have all semester to prepare for the 1,000-word essay. There are four grading criteria: 10 short essays, 15 chapter quizzes, three tests plus the final, and a 1,000-word essay.
Took professor for Federal Gov. Lectures are pointless, he will talk about current events but not on what you'll get tested on. Lectures were boring, half the class would sleep. He will make you work, with a quiz and written assignment every week. However he does take it easy on the grading. As long as you turn in the written, he helps you out.
I took Dr. J's 3 week course and had no issues! 3 written assignments, 4 essays, 15 quizzes, and a final exam were a part of the curriculum. I'm not sure how his on-campus courses are, but I'd recommend his online course to anyone willing to put in the work. Overall, easy A with Professor Jefferies' online course! :)
tries to be funny when not
He was a good professor, although he would get off topic so much during lecture so a lot of stuff we would talk about in class was never relevant to our assignments. He grades really easy and as long as you do the work you'll get an A.
He's easy going and good convo in class. Lectures are more about current events & less about what you will be tested on. The tests come from the book. Quizzes are weekly & are based on each chapter. Occasionally he allowed for the quizzes to be done in groups, which did help some. 1k word essay due @ EOS. Read the textbook and you will pass.
Honestly an easy class with him. He talks a lot. Be able to understand the constitution. Just listen in class READ the textbook. Get assignments in on time. MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND WHEN DUE DATES ARE. AND MAKE SURE HE KNOWS YOU MADE SURE THAT YOU CHECKED WHEN DUE DATES ARE. Easy to pass if you Just stay on top of things. GOOD LUCK
boring class, tries to be funny when he is not. the class is almost all half asleep. he talks a lot than necessary
He is very sarcastic even in serious situations.
I have taken his Texas government class as well as his federal government. Both were mini-mesters. I learned a lot and enjoyed it overall. As long as you do the assignments on time and the readings, you'll do great!
This class was great overall. Quizzes and tests are all HEAVILY over the textbook (like near exact). Downside is that the class lectures were pretty boring. He talks A LOT (more than needed) but has good personality. Just make sure you know when all the quizzes and tests are due and you'll be fine. Easy A. Only one full paper due at the end.
Very nice professor, but he goes off on tangents A LOT. It's really hard to follow his lectures, so the textbook is where you should pick up the slack. He is like a mixture of Jack Black and Leonard from Big Bang Theory. Most people in the class zone out or leave just because the flow of each class is not engaging. Bottom line: Watch Crash Course.
Amazing if you vibe w/ a teacher who doesn't care about ur grade but will gladly do what u ask of him if u do. Most tune out his "lectures" bc they don't understand he's not tryna teach, he just likes talking and learning for himself. Up to u to go along for the ride. No class participation necessary, v clear grading. The coffee cup is alcohol :P
Just take in online. Everything is online he does not provide lectures that help with test. But everything is open book/ Note so it is very easy. Just be prepared to teach yourself.
Easy Class and a very good professor.
Took dual credit @SCHS fall '21. Kevin is great; his apathy rivals that of his students, lets you leave class as long as they don't get him in trouble. If you do stay & listen ambiently he likes to ramble about the Constitution and current events that are somewhat related to material. Grades come from short writing but mostly mcq quizzes and exams.
Mr. Jeffries understands that not all of us are going to major in politics or history etc. He makes the class fun and bearable for those who are just looking to get rid of intro classes. He has a great personality, is fun, and makes students engaged. Best of all, he uses real life situations to teach the course. He does not rely on a textbook.
A lot of reading and many discussion posts. I feel like all government classes are going to be like that regardless. As a teacher he is nice, it wasn't hard.
Loved taking this class. It went at our own pace. Even though it was a mini semester with a lot of work. He gave you time and guided you when to get the assignments done so you can be prepared. He is very understanding and I would for sure take his class again.
I couldn't select any of the descriptors because I'm not sure how to even describe him. He's a friendly guy but a terrible teacher. His textbook was completely inaccessible (I took a dual enrollment class, which could've been the issue) and he just told us to use Google. His tests are long and grueling and I learned absolutely nothing in his class.
To be honest I barely even learned anything at all from this course. I do recommend taking it online instead of in person. I hate all the tests and quizzes as they take so long to do. Just find a Quizlet with the answers he doesn't really care. but he is a funny and cool person if you choose to engage in conversation with the lesson.
Loved this professor so much. His class was incredibly easy and he is so funny. He likes to talk a lot but he goes off topic sometimes and can be funny. Easy class. Me and my friends took him for both governments!
