I had him for summer and his class was really easy. He is not ****, he does make some comments that are questionible but are in good humor. He means no harm as far as I can tell. Overall I thought he was good and would recommend him.
I had him over summer and it was a great class. Was really easy and it he keeps you awake. Good Class
I disagree with the others. He didn't come off as anti-white at all. He has good class interaction and everyone has freedom to their own opinion.I little weird at first, but I would still suggest his class to others.
He was very good and kept your attention.
This ego maniac wants to blame everything on race when he has no idea what he is talking about. If he would learn his subject better he might not make so many stupid remarks.
Huge ego and makes rediculous cultural remarks that he is not educated enough to be making.
He has an agenda which is devisive and negative. Truly a very poor teacher who should not be teaching.
Challenging class. essay exams. Very funny and keeps your attention in class. If you dont like to read and participate in class do not take his class
Good teacher, plays favorites a lot and gets very into the whole slavery thing. Essay tests are rough, but if he likes you, you will get an A :)
Professor Kennedy is true to his students & himself. He is a very precise, clearly understood, humorous-funny & possitive instructor. If you can relate to his humor, you will find how easy going and diverse in his opinions are. Clearly only an educated, s
He is energetic and entertaining. He may feel strongly about some issues, but he is always open to other peoples opinions. He makes you participate and stimulates your mind.
Makes history fun. You have to read and participate to do well. I would recommend him.
One sided in his opinions. Makes classes suffer for individual "mess-ups." Does grade assignments and hands then back in good time. Never gives current grade.
Kennedy is good guy, a lot of essay test, lots of reading but if he likes you, you'll have no problems, the key is to participate right from the beginning. I love his class. "just a little jokey jokey" -kennedy 10:00 class
Mr. Kennedy is a very nice guy. Class is interesting. He will call on you and he'll get po'd if the class didn't read for class. He's very willing to help his students. The essays were tough, but I learned a lot.
hard class if you dont like history.funny guy, but not a fun class either way. i just wouldnt recommend him if history is a tough subject for you
Funny guy but he made inappropriate comments on more than one occasion. Never took any notes and taught directly to the test. Taking his class is a waste of time
One sided on topics. Talks about slavery WAY too much. Tries to be funny, but gets old and repeats jokes. Does not focus on necessary topics to complete tests successfully. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND
Participate and play along. If you play the game you will win, if you don't you won't like him. We did a 1-2 page paper each week, a group project, and and essay for the exam. He does get heavy into slavery, only for 2 chapters. He tries to get people fired up and it is funny when he does.
The only good thing is that he did not have essay questions on his test the only reason why is that the class had too many students.
Did very well in class. Loved having the lectures, they were very interesting. Not the normal boring history class. He is very oppinionated.
Lectures are a blast. Participate from day 1 and you will succeed. Civil War chapters were great. Journal entries made this class feel like a Gordon Rule. Course may have changed since I took it in Fall of '03. I recommend this class for those not afraid of reading and talking about it.
He is one of the worst professors of all time. Racest, Sexest, and very inappropriate in class. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. In addition, he does nothing to help the students learn the material. Go out of your way to a take any other professor other than this ****.
Mr.Kennedy is a great professor!!!!!!!!!!
I would have rather endured a firing squad than attended this class. If you avg your grade, then less than a 94% is a B, & less than 81% is failing. but he says its based on "points." I worked my butt off and got an A, but it wasnt worth hearing all his raging liberal comments. dont chose him
I was so scared at first to take this class with him because of my conservative ways, but his class is my best class this semester! I love going to his class, he is always making it interesting and fun. He does get a little inappropriate sometimes but that's almost what makes him so funny! Recommend
Kevin is a class act. Wonderful insturctor; never had any problems with him at all. He is not ****, or liberal, or rude. He is a wonderful instructor who enjoys everyday teaching. Very good at what he does. One of the best instructors I've taken.
I WAS VERY SCARE OF HIM AT THE BEGINNING BECAUSE HE LOVES TO CALL ON PEOPLE A LOT. BUT HE IS VERY FUNNY AND MAKES YOU WORK TO GET THE GRADE. I LIKE HIM BECAUSE HE IS VERY ENERGETIC WHEN TEACHES. WHICH MAKES THE CLASS INTERESTING AND NOT BORING.
NOT A GOOD TEACHER AT ALL.
difficult class
An excellent teacher and a good guy. Gave us a take-home final. Changed the midterm and the syllabus because some students complained it was too hard. Attendance and class participation important and you have to read the textbook. He's my favorite professor so far. I did the work & got an A.
funny and entertaining....changes mind a lot and forgets what he says.
Kennedy is a good guy. He's extremely smart and absolutely hilarious, so much so that class sometimes evolves from lecture to all out stand up comedy. However, he's an easy teacher and he loves the subject.
i had Mr. Kennedy for Am. History II and AfroAmerican History and he's fantsastic. i always looked forward to his class; discussion is encouraged and Mr. Kennedy provides a perspective on history that makes it relevent to issues of today. can't wait to have him for AmHistory I in the fall!
A very great professor hard but, you get something out of it. He is a very funny professor which makes the class interstead. Calls on people but, not that bad if you read the chapter or get the chapter outline out of your CD. If you participate a lot you will make an A. I had a B average on my tests got an A on the class. Do all he tells you and yo
I had Kennedy once. Enough for me. He was funny but never really taught anything. Only talked about women and racial issues. Knew nothing about history before the class, got an A and still know nothing. Don't take if you really want to learn.
Kennedy is a good teacher although he is kinda forgetful but very leniant

Hate history...LOVED this class!!!
If you like to read, go for it. If you have other things to worry about in your life, dont take him. It seems that he believes everyone is a super robot reader... and only his class exists. Unfortunately, this is not true.
Extreme ****,get over it Kennedy your people are not oppressed any more. You can't blaim the white man for ALL your problems!
The class discussion is too distant from the information we are supposed to retain for the tests.
I find him very annoying... He talks ALL THE TIME AND DOESNT STOP. all he talks about racism and religion... his test have 4 essays and you choose 2 of them but he gives you the questions befor the test day... BUT you really still have to study. they are 2 page essays and you have to know the material.. not easy but not toooo hard. Oh and he is extemely **** he likes girls alot more than guys and has favorites
If you take his course via TV study telecourse guide and you will pass.
Mr. Kennedy is amazing! He is my favorite proffessor.
Mr. Kennedy is the best!!!!!!!! I have much love and respect for this man. He may go off topic, but it's only to get his students involved in topics they can relate and comprehend. He cares and is leniant. I am definatley going to take him again.
I had him for two semesters and i really enjoyed his class... He gives you the questions for the essay's, you just have to look them up and them write a little about it. His class isn't hard at all. He does seem to like the girls more than the guys.. and sometimes he does come across as raist, but he is still a good teacher and i reccomened him...
Oh my God - this guy was incredible. Talk about blunt, but blunt with lots of knowledge. He is an excellent instructor and you will never fall a sleep in his class b/c its too live!
Goes off topic alot. If you don't like to talk in class about chapters, don't take him.
He is liberal and vocal and encourages debate. Not the easiest, but fun and informative. If you voice your opinion you will become his favorite. Easy A if you read the text.
oh gee your kidding. No good unless you have his opinions then youll do fine.
He is the most liberal **** teacher ever. I cannot believe MCC pays him to spout his crap. He rarely discusses the chapters that will be tested. He called a fellow student a redneck and then procecced to make jokes about him for 5 mins. He is the most unprofessional teacher I have ever had. He only likes you if you agree with his politics.
He is extremely **** and shows his disdain for white people. He states that all white people are all responsible for slavery. He goes off on students when subjects are brought up that he doesn't like. Never take his class unless you are black.
I loved this class, very interesting and challenging. I wish the students would stop being so narrow minded and immature so we could enjoy the lecture. The teacher was adequately prepared for class discussion. I also enjoy his History Club. Keep up the good work!!

If you are in school to learn, Kennedy is the man. Not the easiest, but you will learn more history than you ever imagined. Great professor and very fair. He knows how to teach a class.
he does not lecture about history, he talks a lot and ask the opinions of the class. if you like reading the chapters and learning on your own then this is a great class for you, if you have a photographic memory then you'll do great in this class, if you bust your but then you'll do fine in this class, if you don't then you won't!!!!!!
DO NOT TAKE HISTORY WITH KENNEDY!!!! Unless you enjoy having to memorize 80+ pages of history at a time. He tests you on all the little details that aren't important, not the major events. You literaly have to memorize everything to pass. Most of the people in his class this semester are failing.
He wrote new tests this semester. If you want an A you have to spend like 10 hours a week studying. When 20 people got Fs on one test he told us he doesn't care if we all fail because he gets the same paycheck no matter what. He's a horrible teacher.
Wow - this was the hardest class ever. Kennedy is a great teacher and I learned tons of history, but it was done the hard way. Memorizing 80 plus pages every two weeks was insane. Lots of extra credit helped with the grade. Don't bother highlighting the book to help - you need to know every line and every word!
A lot of reviewers said that he was funny, I have yet to see him make anyone laugh and the semester is almost over. He must have changed a lot. He also now refuses to talk about slavery even though it is always a huge part of tests. You do learn a lot in his class but it is from reading the book, not from him teaching you anything.
His lecture has nothing to do with the test
More classroom discussions than anything which was very interesting hearing other people's opinions about African Amercan History & Culture. If you read the chapters, you will do well. But, if you are like me and only scan the chapters, then you probably won't end up with the grade you wanted, but deserved! Also, he is funny from time to time.
not clear on what to study for, most people in class did not do very well
Hard class. Hard grading scale, 100-94 for an A. Did give plenty of EC to make up for scale. Holds you accountable for attendance. Requires alot of indepth reading, 80+ pgs every 2 wks, I recommend you read it twice so 160+ pgs every 2 wks. Any minute detail in the book is fair game on test. If you want an A YOU WILL HAVE TO WORK FOR IT!
I didn't think his class was very hard if you do all the reading. A lot of people think he's hard and unfair, but those are probably the same people who expect a detailed review for every single test and quiz in every class. It's college!! Put forth the effort! Other than that, he's pretty cool and very funny. I liked him a lot.
His tests are hard, the textbook is boring, and he offers no notes. He doesn't check his politics at the door. God forbid you disagree with affirmative action!
Please...the grading scale in Af Hist is straight 10pt scale(90-100=A). Yes, you have to read but his study guide is pretty accurate and to the test. This is college. You have to read once in a while. This class is worth a try for someone interested in another side of the USA, one that ain't pretty much of the time. Amazed more don't take it.
nothing short of amazing. yes there is a lot of reading to do, but this is college so suck it up. he makes the class fun and opens your mind to new things. he is funny to and always keeps the class alive. from what iv's seen students who dont like him tend to be the lazy not so good students in the first place. i highly recomend him.
SELF-TAUGHT CLASS!!! I learned nothing from his lectures, and everything from reading the book outside of class (only way I could possibly make an A in this class). His tests are difficult if your reading comprehension is poor. If you can make it through MCC without having to take Kennedy, I strongly recommend it.
the best teacher ever. Makes class fun and interesting.
He makes a lot of small projects due in the beginning, but it gets esaier as it goes along. He also gives pretty much what is on the test a few classes before, so just go to class, and you'll pass.
this is one of thoes classes where you have to read!! he has this particapation grade where you have to comment/ask a question in class every day. say somthing its worth 15 pts. a day for a total of 200 pts. so if you just plan to sit back and not say anything in class do not take this class you must read theres a quiz every week a diff. chapter
Kennedy is very funny, goes off topic but then goes back to the subject at hand with ease and doesn't get carried away. The semesters not over yet but I know I'm going to get a good grade cause he's cool and works with you. I'm taking him for AMH 1010 in the summer, can't wait!
I took him like three semesters ago and got an A. People complain about him, but the class I took was really easy. You could fail all exams and get a B with extra credit. Was funny and I don't know if I'm an overachiever, but the class was pretty easy and I sat in the back and hardly participated. Just read the book and you'll be fine.
If I could describe my experience with Mr. Kennedy in one word, it would be DISSAPOINTED. The book was very biased and so was the professor. Mr. Kennedy uses class time to advocate his political opinion instead of covering American History. Quiz questions cover trivial details and not the main themes of the chapter. At times he can be very offensiv
Boring class, reviews the chapter that your supposed to have read before class. tests are really easy as long as you read. You go off on alot of tangents which is a nice break from history
He's definitely a fun teacher. While he asks for a lot of participation from the students he makes the class enjoyable. Fair warning though, their is a lot of writing in the class. Theres a six page paper that doesn't appear to be related to the subject and the exams are in essay format. If you can handle that take the class.
Ppl say he's good for the same reasons why ppl say he's bad. If you take any comment seriously, it's this one. Ppl love him because they agree with him and they're the ones he is easy on. If you disagree with him, challenge him in any way, or you just aren't "picked," you'll get an unfair grade on essays. Ppl are joining me in a formal complaint.
Mr. Zinnedy teaches "his" story and not history. If you sign up, remember to take in the info with grains (and grains) of salt.
This teacher is Great! Those who do not like him just do not understand his psychology in getting people upset to see their reactions. He does have an obvious opinion but did not put those down who oppose his. He told stories and made the class interesting and allowed extra credit. You have to study, so dont take if you are lazy.
He is very knowledable over his subject. Has a passion for teaching, he breaks the ice with many laughs. Participating and voicing your opnions earn you brownie points. He likes to hear from EveryONE!!.. The more you engage yourself the better. the book is a must have! in order to pass the test you must read the chapters. fair grader.
Great professor. He is a virtual encyclopedia of history. His pyschology of teaching is great - he wants to get a rise out of his students to spark debate. Relates current events with history to help students understand. Very funny - cracks jokes all the time. I've heard from many students that they love him - they just haven't rated him here.
Great Teacher... Has a lot of knowledge. Very comprehensive, he was very nice, made the class fun, yes you have to read the book is must but overall the class was great. He is a very reasonable teacher and allows you to take exams if you miss them. I got an A in the class. Loved it.
great teacher! makes the class fun and interesting. Studying for tests is a must. Participate in class!
Hes a cool guy. i sit in the front row and he always talks to me. he does randomly pick students to stand up and give a speech about the chapter. i did it, its not hard. he applaudes effort. he really knows how to speak and make it interesting. you remember things without taking notes, i havent written anything down yet, and you only have 2 exams.
An amusing fellow, but he expects alot from his students. If your only taking his class (alone) you should be fine, but if you have other classes, then don't bother. Only 2 exams, and they contain essays.
He's great if you know what your getting into. He does have a left political leaning and not afraid to share it. However, unlike other teachers he is open to debate and will even congratulate you if you have a well rounded counter-argument. He's funny, will play the devil's advocate and makes sure there is never a truly boring moment in class.
Very unclear on expectations and grades are based on the GPA scale (4 for an A 3 for a B etc..) which excludes points (if you get an 85, its still only a 3). Nice guy but he doesn't really teach anything in class. Tells you to read the book and tests you based on the chapter. Then he claims the book is biased. Just leave this one alone...
OMG! I loved Kennedy! He is such a funny teacher. Makes the class go by real fast...talks alot and involves studeets!!! Always has something interesting and funny to say! I'd take him again! GREAT teacher!
This professor is awesome. If you dont like going to class and still getting good grades you should take this class.
Kennedy is a very fun and sarcastic teacher, most lectures are more class discussion than anything and everyone can state there own opinion. He makes it known he is liberal but does not force his views. Midterm and Final are essays written in class which are easy and the only other grades are power point presentations and optional quizzes.
he is a good teacher
Good professor, very funny and amusing. Loves to talk about the chapter and tries to relate it to the present time and civil rights in today's America. Daily quizzes and presentations.. STUDY the chapter(s) before each quiz and definitely do research for the midterm and final exam.. Very nice and caring as well :) you DO have to do work!!
Kennedy is a great teacher. He really cares for his students and wants to see all of them succeed to the fullest. Read the chapters, do the weekly quizzes, and write great midterms and finals (2 questions 1-2 pages each if your an A student he says). Enjoyed my experience at MCC thanks to him.
I LOVE professor Kennedy!! He is one of the best teachers that I have had in my two years at MCC. Encourages students to participate during class and really cares about your opinions. He makes it a point to learn the names of all of his students and does his best to treat you like a person and not just a number.
Kennedy's class was super easy. As long as you read the chapters or even define the terms you will get an A. His tests are 20 questions once a week and very easy. He's kind of annoying with participation but I never participated and got an A.
Very cool with students, jokes around, but stays on topic at the same time. Applies current events to historical events. Doesn't embarrass students, understanding guy, knowledgable teacher, and gives you FYIs on the test.
He has an awesome sense of humor, i loved having him. He likes it when people volunteer into the discussions but its definitely not a hard class. Tests are essay based and from the book, but most of it is just common history that you learn in middle school. definitely recommended.
I've been taking this class during 6 summer weeks, and it's been intensive, but fun as well. All the classes have been discussions. He's not your teacher if you're afraid to talk in class! We've had a quiz every Thursday, and they haven't been difficult - if you've read the chapters! I'd recommend him, and I'd be happy to take more classes with him
I've been taking Kennedy for Summer A and I find that he is one of the best professors I've encountered here. He's very fair; he reads you the material right from the test! Take your own notes at home and be prepared to speak in class and you'll do just fine. He has a liberal leaning but welcomes all intelligent debate.
Great! This guy is a comedian and i loved him. If u are shy don't take him & always be prepared to speak in class. I enjoyed every min. of class. I also met a friend :) so thanks mr. Kennedy i will always and forever remember your class. Keep up the great teaching style. UR gR3@t!
Great professor. Last semester he would give us four response questions from the book every two weeks, we would study them, and then he would pick 2 of them for us to write a page about each. (he counted them as quizzes) quizzes and class participation made the majority of the grade. This year he told us he would go back 2 multiple choice though.
Kennedy is a really funny guy! He definitely has "favorites", but does include EVERYONE in discussions. If you don't like talking I suggest you do not take this class, because a lot is about participation, and if you don't talk your grade goes down. My suggestion: ALWAYS AGREE WITH HIM! You will get a better grade!
He might be a little one sided, but it's a really easy class. read a chapter, talk about it, take a quiz. that's all you do. talk a little bit in class and you're good to go.
He is a fun teacher. Very animated! I took this over summer and it was pretty easy. The tests are based on his lectures and notes. Reading the chapter is mandatory.
Love him. One of the best at SCF!!
This man is a genius. He really cares about whether or not you "get it" rather than whether you make the grade. Has a true passion for his students. MUST take this professor for AMH 1 and 2.
Summer class so he gave all essay exams(6)(2 questions at least one page each). Easy to get an A just talk about ch for a page. Professor Kennedy is very funny. Very upbeat attitude. The whole class is run by discussion. Read chapter and discuss it in class(a lot of the times ends up being current events discussion). Doesn't teach but discusses AMH
Good proff..would love to see him on open mic nite @ McCurdy's. Keeps you awake and interested during 8am classes. During Summer all essay. Be prepared to speak in class. Does tend to find a fav name a calls on that student alot. Good harted, fun class. You MUST read chapters! Attendence is important, must show effort. He's fair/understanding.
Excellent teacher. Class Participation a must. Highly intelligent professor, loves what he does. Smokin' hot. ;]
Great Professor. You use the book a lot! Reading the material is mandatory but there wasn't any homework! All quizzes were essays but he gives you three topics to study and he picks two. Its awesome. You could skim the chapter before and probably get an A. Hes quite funny too! I would recommend him highly!
overall good! no homework AT ALL, just exams every 2 weeks, but you have to read your book! exams were essay form, so as long as you read your chapters, you will do fine! he really uses the book ALL THE WAY! instructor in funny too!
Great class! Kennedy is a hottie. It was nice to have something to look at during class discussion. Information was crystal clear. Make sure you read your chapters. That's the key to passing the class.
never gives homework. Test every 2 weeks. Have to read 1 chapter a week in textbook. Easy if you are able to read entire chapter and are able to put a great deal of detail into your tests, which are always essays. I found the class difficult mostly because I didn't have time to read the textbook. Hysterical teacher though.
Hysterical. Reading book is mandatory. test every 2 weeks. read one chapter a week. Never gives homework. Will get an A if you have the time to read the full 2 chapters and put a great deal of detail into your tests which are always essays. Class discussion is mandatory.
Teacher is pretty funny. The class is not hard, BUT you do have to read the textbook. If you read both assigned chapters, or THOROUGLY re-read one chapter, you should do fine on the essay tests. As long as you right a full page front and back, he'll give you an A im promise
Mr. Kennedy, has a great since of humor. you have to read your book(i mean it!) to pass his quizzes. he often drifts off subject but is really cool.
Kennedy is a good teacher. If you read your book you should do well on his quizzes. He gave a multiple choice quiz every Friday.
Kennedy is by far the most entertaining professor I've had so far, and I learned a lot in his class. There's an essay test every two weeks, and you MUST read the book (like 80 pages per test) in order to succeed, or at least do some extensive research. There's also a 10 minute group presentation. Fun class, fun guy.
Very funny, but you must read the book. Great instructor, very fair, gets all involved.
He is the best.
Professor is a great guy, very funny and always trying to keep the class involved. However don't even bother taking notes in class, you don't cover anything thats going to be on the test. To get an A on his test you HAVE to read the assigned chapters.
Kennedy is very fun and active in class. If you do not participate, do not expect to pass the class. He will be taking Attendance, however you won't be taking any notes in class that will be on your tests. Long as you read the chapter and remember the details, you will pass the tests.
If you dont read the Text then there is no point to the class. He's there to talk about what you read so if you dont read it then its all F's for you.
easy class. boring but easy. very funny person. got a b and didnt try
Good teacher, LOVES to talk. Get off topic sometimes. He calls on people randomly but doesn't really care if you don't answer. YOUR TEXTBOOK IS YOUR BEST FRIEND! Gives essay tests every 2 weeks on book material. If you read the chapter you will do fine.
You have to read the chapter to pass the tests but don't neglect your projects! Gives 4 projects and they can be on pretty much any topic you want within the time period of the class. DO THEM! They are not hard to do, I did most of mine the day before. Got mostly C's on the tests I actually took but all A's on projects and ended the course with a B
Excellent professor..not only does he know the material well, but he also knows how to teach it well. The class was very interesting.
People say that you HAVE to read the text book but I did for the first test and had way too much info in my head and got a C. The next couple of tests, I gave up on reading and just took good notes in class. He basically tells you the essay questions ahead of time. Then just go research it online. He loves when you use details that you found.
This man can not stay on track for one second. He veers off into a political rant acting with only one view. He assigned a 12 page research paper with 30 sources, so it is a lot of work. Once he learns your name he will call on you the whole class and it will never be related to what you are learning.
He knows his material and it shows. If you want to succeed in this class it is important to know the material in the text book. His test are essay style written in class every 2 weeks, which I wasn't a fan of but if you show any knowledge of the subject he will be fair. He did also assign 2 ten page writing assignments but graded them fairly
I took him for AMH1010 and AMH1020, and you can easily tell he knows his stuff. He did start assigning 2 article summaries a week, but for my first semester with him it was read the chapter, participate in lecture, and take a test on two chapters every other week. Don't be intimidated because they are 'essay' tests, it can be one long paragrapgh.
I love Mr.Kennedy! In my opinion, he is one of the best teachers at SCF. There is rarely ever a dull moment in his class. Kennedy really knows his stuff too and loves to school anyone who challenges him (which is soo funny). I recommend him to anyone taking history!
Interesting teacher, easy class as long as you read the chapters in the textbook, that's what the tests are based off of. You have a test every 2 chapters. He does start to ramble though, especially about politics. Overall easy class.
Took him for AMH 1 and 2. His sobriety is sometimes questionable, and his lectures can get boring. But he tries to make them funny sometimes. An essay test every two weeks on two chapters and sometimes an assigned essay in between and that's pretty much it. It's pretty easy for a History class- I recommend
He's a good teacher. He makes lots of jokes. The only down side is the tests. The tests are essays, so it REALLY requires that you READ the textbook. You also have to talk in class, so you can turn in an index card saying what you talked about. For some that was difficult but if you have an opinion or know some history, then you'll do fine on that
WEIRD GRADING SYSTEM: All grades are approximate. Ex: you get an A on a paper but never 92. He doesn't use angel. There 5 sections that he grades; attend., essays, tests, exams, & participation. He visually averages work from each section to get 5 letter grades. If of these 5 you get mostly A's, you get A, 3 B's or 1 C means you get a B, & so on.
Just don't take his class he talks too much. You get graded for participation but it's not possible to participate because he's talking entirely too much. Class is sooo boring.
He's a good teacher. There's a test every other class and they're only about 15 questions each so make sure you read the chapter's because he leaves little room for error. Professor Kennedy is very helpful, kind, and funny. I enjoyed his class.
Kennedy is a great professor but his in class "lectures" are more political current event based then off the book. Attendance is graded and how much you participate is noted as well. With one chapter a week, its easy to read it, understand it and be prepared when he calls on you. Like he says all the time, "I call on everyone, I'm not biased"
Professor Kennedy is awesome. He really likes his students to be involved in class, but he does his best to make the topics interesting and really loves his subject. He was my favorite professor this semester. Make sure you read your textbook!
Nice but makes participation 25%of ur grade&by his standards-u have to run every class basically. Its impossible to do that bc he talks&wont let anyone have a word in EVEN IF HE CALLS ON U! He switched to scantrons for my class-those were easy, but he even told us u can be in class everyday&ace all tests but if u don't "participate" u won't get an A
EASY! Read your book!!! If you don't read it you won't get the grade. I laughed a lot in his class.
Never a dull moment in his class. I never thought I would enjoy a history class as much as I enjoyed his. Very funny and energetic, loves when students share their thoughts and opinions. Very active teacher, not boring at all which is great for a history class. Tests are a breeze if you read the book. Easiest A I ever got. I really miss his class.
Took African American History. Hilarious teacher. Scantron tests but he creates the questions and I swear some of them are just his opinions. Once the majority of the class got a D. Test every Wednesday, so show up as you only get 1 retake. Read the book. Final was to be on the entire book but we lucked out and got it on the last 2 chapters.
Took him for 1020, pretty funny. But now I'm in 1010 with him and it is SO BORING. Literally same thing, same jokes each class. As long as he knows your name and you speak once he will give you a B in participation which is 25% of your grade.
I don't like how he teach, he does not have any idea of how to teach history. If you really want to learn something don't take his class. Quiz every week, he grades you on a very weird and different way.
Dont take his class. Have to read the book front to back in order to do the tests aka essays. He grades harshly. You have to participate in class and then write down what you said on note cards. Its stupid.
Professor Kennedy is funny and keeps you wide awake in class with his jokes. However the class does require you to read your book before a chapter test. Other than a good amount of reading the class is pretty simple!
Kennedy is a very funny guy, great personality! Did not learn much in this class, but it was very easy. I never opened my textbook, received mostly D's on weekly quizzes, barely ever spoke in class, and I did not even do the 10-15 minute presentation. I passed the class with a C. VERY EASY!!! Just make sure he likes you, and the class is a breeze.
After reading all the raving reviews about Kennedy, I decided to take his class. I have never been more disappointed in my life. His tests are essays with no guidelines to help you prepare. He gives you a choice of eight questions and you write on two. He also has his favorites in class. Participation is a grade, but he does not call on everyone.
Mr. Kennedy is a very funny guy and his lectures are very open. You will need to read your textbook though. I really did not like the way he does tests. Definitely a class where you always have to be prepared by reading. But he is overall a hilarious teacher and his lectures are never boring!
Easy if you read the text (super long chapters though). His tests are 2 two-page essays from like 8 prompts on the reading, but it actually doesn't have to be two pages long. Lectures are also interesting and kinda fun. Attendance isn't completely necessary but you should still go.
This guys is the best teacher ever. You will have exams every week but he indirectly tells you in class whats the exam on. Its basically write about a topic front and back paper and get A. You will never find a history teacher better than him. I highly recommend to take this class.
Read the book, participate in class, write about the topic A He is funny and really hints well to test topics. tests are hand written in class 2 page responses to prompts. (not a grammar freak) Length of paper does not matter write the details (he calls it "more") fun class.
Good guy tells you everything you need to know don't really have to read just listen tells you wats on the tests if u don't go he will mark you off and he grades if u answer questions in class solid guy
Excellent History Professor! Test are essay style ,however; just read at least three to four of the subtitles in the chapter and you will be prepare for his tests. Oh and he tell you what subtitles you will need to know for the test. Just pick two out of several and write about them in your words
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR IF YOU WANT TO BE AN "A" STUDENT. You have to have an A participation in order to pass his class with an A. His lectures are about uncomfortable topics such as rape, racism, and others. He points you out in class and criticizes your opinion. IMPOSSIBLE TO GET AN A. Trust me- worst decision I could've made.
Professor Kennedy is the best history teacher I have ever had. He makes topics interesting and relates them to present day. Make sure he knows your name by the end of the semester so you get participation points (worth 15% of grade). Tests are essay, and he is an easy grader as long as you write enough. Final was easy and clear too. Take him!
Great professor. His lectures are interesting and he's very helpful. His tests are essay style but you get to pick your own topics. If you don't like textbooks, don't take this class though. You have to read a chapter a week, but honestly, I never read a whole chapter. He's also hilarious. I would take anything he teaches.
Professor Kennedy by far has been my favorite teacher since entering college this semester. Getting an A in his class isn't very hard, just know a lot about 1-2 things within the chapter and be able to write essays on them. Participation is a large part of the grade so make sure you give your input in a lecture at least twice a week.
Kennedy is funny and very into history, classes are lively and you MUST participate. Huge part of your grade. For my class, the tests were all essay, and we had one every other week. You're supposed to really read the chapter thoroughly, but i never read and got an A. Not a hard class. 2 projects: easy A, 2 page essays. Taking him again next sem.
Mr. Kennedy is really awesome. He is not though at all. What was really hard for me was to participate in class, and participation is important for the final grade. Prepare to read and have exams every two weeks. You should know how to write 2 pages essays. If you put some effort, all you'll get will be As. He makes the rules clear from the start.
I took this class because Professor Kennedy was rated high on this site. However, he sorely lacks professionalism because he can't keep his political affiliations to himself. Numerous times he made racial remarks that were both offensive and irrelevant. When he grades the tests (all essays), he doesn't give feedback, which impedes improvement.
Professor Kennedy does not lecture about history. He instigates political conversations and debate. He will allude to subjects that will be on essay tests, then goes back to the political conversation. The class is supposed to be two hours of lecture. He ends class generally about 50 minutes early. Amount of reading and project work is very heavy.
Kevin Kennedy provides no feedback as to why you receive a grade and when I asked for clarification his response was "I am the teacher you are the student, I assign the grades." I am not sure why but he seems to hate is job and he takes it out on the students.
Horrible teacher. For the time I had him, I didn't see one student receive a 100%, highest was a 95%. As you see I took the class for good reviews but now I see horrible reviews. Wish I knew this before I took his class. Wouldn't recommend or take his class again.
Kennedy is an ok professor. He is not the worst at SCF. I recommend though that you make sure he knows your name by the end of the semester, participation is worth 25% of your grade. This includes attendance.
I took him online. He is an okay professor. The class is doable and there is no reason you shouldn't at least get a B. He makes you read A LOT! Tests are essays and take a lot of time and effort. If you put effort, the highest grade he will give is a 95%. I might take him again because I know his expectations. Don't recommend if ur looking for easy
The tests are essay tests that you have a day and a half to complete. It is not HARD it is just TIME CONSUMING. I wrote well over 6000 words for this class. He does not give over a 95% on any assignment, but if you show effort, he gives you an A. He is tough but doable. I like taking the easy teachers, but still got an A in his class. put in effort
All of his assignments, test and projects are papers . He only gives 2 days at the most for papers to be completed. The projects are required to pass the class, however the students must do them on their own time and money, such as visiting museums and historical sites. Also did not grade several papers until the end of semester. Lots of work!
It was easy. There are papers to return but they are not hard at all.
I'm taking US history online and Kevin Kennedy is one of the worst professors I've ever worked with. His assignments are unclear. I email him as soon as the assignments are open, and he doesn't get back to me until after it was due. He also requires two projects done on your own dime (museum, etc). Terrible professor. Don't recommend.
He's an amazing teacher, i would definitely take him again. He's pretty easy, if you're good at history you don't need a book , tbh. it's basic knowledge, and he is straight to the point.
Great Lectures. Very knowledgeable guy. No surprises. Clear cut easy grading criteria. I'm going to take AMH1020 with him as well.
Professor Kennedy is funny and makes history interesting. His lectures go by really quick. You will have to write for the tests but if you read the chapters you will be fine. Museum or historic site visit, or in class presentation required. Good class.
Easy Class if you pay attention during lectures. Tests are written, however he tells you what you will have to write about so you'll be prepared. The lively lectures make it impossible not to learn. Funny and up to date on EVERYTHING political. Will take him again. I strongly recommend this class.
Kennedy is a great teacher. His lectures are long, he talks the entire class period but it's all great! He makes old history relevant, he knows how to relate problems to events that are happening now. He is very political and likes to hear back from students whether they agree or disagree with him. There are a lot of essays so prepared to write.
Best Lectures. Very passionate about history, and knows his stuff. Non traditional teaching style. Tests are written responses to the chapters read. Genius class. I learned and retained most of the information due to not just multiple choice testing. Take this class, read the chapters or points he gives in class, and get your A.
Great Class. One of the best professors at this school. I learned a lot. Easy A.
I see how people would hate him for an online class because he admittedly sucks at responding to email. However in his lectures he notes what to read specifically for the tests which are essay form and grades them very loosely. Hardly studied and got an A. Couple papers but pretty simple. Note what he says to read, read it, and you will pass.
Easy class if you read the chapters. He tells you ahead of time what will be on the bi-weekly tests. Two projects are simple and good for you. Visit places relevent to the time period and write an essay. I will take again. Read enough to be able to answer a question or two in class.
Listen to lecture, take notes, and sure to pass.
I very much enjoyed attending Kennedy's classes--he keeps things lively and his passion and knowledge on the subject rubs off on you. He isn't too tough of a grader as long as he sees you put a thorough effort in all of your tests and assignments, all of which are written. Keep up with your reading, write analytically, and it's a fairly easy class.
Professor Kennedy's class was super repetitive. Every week you had to post a discussion and every other week two papers were due for your exam. Lots of writing. The topics he gave were extremely similar which became very boring. I never read my book and just used the internet for my research. He would not give out 100%s. Highest I ever got was 95%.
I am currently taking the 6-Week version of this course. The professor overall is very good, He is an easy grader, However this class is all essays, no multiple choice, assignments are essays, exams are essays. BE PREPARED TO WRITE AND BE PREPARED TO READ. This class is centered around the textbook so make sure you have it.
Repetitive lectures, time consuming papers, and massive amounts of reading. His tests are just writing super long essays. His lectures don't really stay on topic. At least he doesn't take the whole class time.
Taking Kennedy's class was interesting. His work isn't hard, but it is time consuming. Kennedy grades you based on how HE feels you did. No one receives a 100 in Kennedy's class so forget about it. The highest you can get is a 90 or a 91 on his assignments. To pass his class with an A, go ABOVE and BEYOND. Overall good prof. , I learned a lot.
The most unclear professor I have ever had. His online course was so confusing. Do not take him. Big mistake!
Kevin Kennedy is the most unclear teacher I've ever had. Really hard grader, doesn't let you have an A in the class without 90% or higher on EVERYTHING you submit. Doesn't give any feedback, rubrics, or extra credit. Can be entertaining in class sometimes but will probably break your GPA.
this is quite possibly the hardest thing I've ever had to do education wise. He isn't clear on how he grades, he doesn't give out any rubrics, and he drifts off onto different topics during lectures. You have a four paper exam due every two weeks and a five page project each month. It's nearly impossible to get an A as well. Would not recommend.
Impossible grader. Very biased and grades just based on how he feels
Definitely triggers a lot of the classmates and whats mainly bothering me is the fact that he won't give us extra credit and he doesn't do power point notes therefore it is extremely hard for me to study for tests.
Professor Kennedy is a pretty cool history professor. I do have to admit though his class is not for everyone, only take his class if you like to read and write, A LOT. I like history so most of the exams I didn't really have to study for because I'm that big of a nerd but if you don't like history you definitely shouldn't take his class.
Where do I begin with Kennedy.. He has a very interesting personality, but the thing about him is that he tries to hard sometimes to keep the class lively.. He has a tendency to call on the same few people every class, so if you're lucky you'll hear your name 20 times while he's not even asking you direct questions.. The most annoying thing about this class is that you literally ONLY DO PAPERS! Every 2 weeks you'll have to choose 2 topics and write 2 pages each for them as a test. If you know the basic info then you'll be alright as he lectures in the class the entire time. He does get off topic a lot of the time which can sometimes be annoying. For other assignments we have, they are sometimes not clear at all, and always require writing multiple pages. If you don't like writing papers, DO NOT take this class.
Professor Kennedy is amazing! He can be a little extra sometimes, but he is really passionate about history and about bettering his students. Get ready to read a lot though there is a test every two weeks on two chapters worth of text and all the tests are essay exams. But overall he's a really good professor who really cares about his students.
Took Kennedy for 1010 and 1020. Skim the chapter before class, speak up at least once during class, and always talk about gender, race, and main idea topics in your weekly tests. If you can't learn material without studying it first, Kennedy is for you. If you want an easy A with minimal effort, Kennedy is not for you.
I'm currently taking professor Kennedy's class which we only have 4 more chapters left. For the most part if you have a general idea of the material and you explain your answer in detail you should do well. You do have a exam bi-weekly and quizzes bi-weekly so be prepared. Overall easy class, planning on taking him for AMH 1020 over the summer.
Very funny, lots of reading, easy A. The tests are pick 2 out of 7 questions, right 2 essays on them.
Mr. Kennedy is a wonderful teacher. I learned more from him than any history teacher. He is hilarious and sometimes get off topic but always makes the class interesting. I recommend him to everyone who wants to take a history class. He is very helpful and explains the material well. He is not an easy A, but if you study the material you'll be fine!
Kevin was not a very helpful teacher. Several times I emailed him about questions and I never received an email back and if I would receive an email back it would be after the assignment was due. Kevin also never updated the grade book and would finally update grades like three weeks later.
On assignments Kevin never gave feedback one time on how to improve our papers.
Definitely my favorite professor this semester. I absolutely adore Kennedy. He's very good at making connections between current events and the material being covered in class. He's not shy about his liberal views, but he would never shame any student for sharing their views.
Lectures are simply going through the chapters and reviewing chapters. Professor Kennedy is hilarious and super understanding as long as you communicate your problems but doing the work is the only way you will pass and that is what i fell short on.
Great teacher would definitely taker him again. Very specific in what he wants, quizzes are easy. Attendance is mandatory in order to understand the lecture.
Tons of reading and all exams are essays and same with the weekly test. Read a chapter and read online a week, and take the test.
So Prof Kennedy isnt a bad teacher, but he isnt great. Read a chapter over a week then take a quiz. Quizzes are over something he tells you to research and the next class you write a page about it . Pretty much the entire class. Pretty easy A if you look up info about the upcoming quiz.
This class is easy if you just read the chapter every week and research information on the subject he gives you to write about for that week. Kennedy is funny but once he learns your name, hell be calling on you every class. Hes always looking for discussions from the students, so if youre shy, dont take this class. Other than that, easy A.
Took the online course, would not recommend with this professor. Grading tough is an acceptable trait in a professor, however he very rarely gives you reason as to why he graded it that way. I would've appreciated constructive criticism on how to improve. Also it took weeks to see what grade I received on most assignments.
By far my favorite prof at SCF. Kennedy is funny, and has good insight on the history. (He's liberal btw) The class is a mix of lecture and discussion, and he connects the book with current US and world events. Work is medium, he expects you to understand esp as he reviews chapters in class. Weekly essays, and 12 comments. I only skimmed chapters
I took professor Kennedy for history, he was honestly the best history teacher i've ever had. One thing i hated though was that he never updated canvas so i wasn't able to see my grade till after the class was over. Lectures a lot. Both exams i took were super easy, he did not give any exam reviews. PAY ATTENTION! Take notes!!!
Grades tough, weekly announcements consist of criticism and no praises .
Professor Kennedy is a really funny guy. SUPER liberal but i really like him. His whole class is basically just reading the chapters and taking essay tests, but definitely listen during his lectures because he talks about key things in the chapter. Just get ready to read A LOT. But id defiantly recommend taking his class, he's fun and entertaining
Great teacher. He is liberal but it is an easy class if you read the chapters and do the assignments. I would take him again in a heartbeat but he is old fashioned and does not use canvas.
Professor Kennedy made you work for your grade. Getting an A is possible, but you had to dedicate a good amount of time to the class. Also, Professor Kennedy is great at presenting the class material.
I love Kennedy to death. He's like a cool uncle. I took his class last semester and taking him again this semester. Get ready to read each chapter of the book and write weekly prompt papers and the exams are essays as well. Definitely watched my fair share of people skip class and miss a lot of work. Would not advise. Do the work and show up!
He's a really cool guy. All you need to do to pass is read the chapters. The tests are about 6 questions, you choose two and then write a full page answering each question. So one side of a page per question. that's it. congratulations you passed the class.
Took two semester with him. The class isn't hard as long as you read and do the weekly research paper. Otherwise there's one project per semester and an essay test every two chapters. However, I didn't enjoy his course and cause he rants and assigns work about unrelated topics. He can be quite liberal in his presentation and assigned topics.
SO MUCH WRITING. Everything is writing. I would have appreciated a few quizzes with questions. Everything is a paper which is not what you expect from a history class. Sometimes 2-3 two paged papers a week. A lot of planning and outlining goes into these. Felt like the work load of two classes.
I took this as an online class, this professor gave zero feedback on every assignment. Essay after essay after essay... I spent hours upon hours just for an 84 and no feedback. Would take off points for no reason and when questioned about it stated he would look into it and never got back with me or changed my grade. Good luck
Not a hard class. Buy the textbook, raise your hand to comment for participation credit. Weekly quizzes that required you to write a page worth of analysis. Do that & you'll get an A. No homework or tests. One project but not overwhelming.
If you dont like writing, dont take Kennedy. Every test is 2 handwritten 2 page essays and the weekly homework is an 2-3 page typed essay. With that said, I enjoyed Professor Kennedys personality along with his enthusiasm and knowledge he has for the subject. He feels when his lectures are getting dull and tells a joke to lighten the mood.
Professor Kennedy was not a good teacher. I took his class on line and he was pretty much non-existent. He did not provide any feedback. Graded papers maybe twice in the course of the class, therefore, would go 6 to 10 assignments without grading. He would occasionally reply to an email, but often the reply was incoherent.
Great teacher, and prepared good lectures, even tho this was an online class.
Kennedy was a good teacher, but entirely traditional. You didn't turn in anything online and will not know your grade until the very end of the year when it shows up on your transcript. There was a bi-weekly essay test that were always entirely from the textbook. Lots of reading and even more writing.
Kennedy was one of the greatest professors I have had throughout my academic career. Kennedy does a well good of keeping the material interesting, and even brings in his own humor. Class was based solely of the textbook and 2 chapters were assigned every 2 weeks. All tests were essay tests based on the chapters read the previous 2 weeks.
Class was mostly overview of textbook material. All tests are in essay form during class. One group project and multiple other projects that involved heavy writing and presentation in class. Politically liberal leaning and will inject his political beliefs in some of the material. Easy class if you're willing to read and do the work.
Professor Kennedy was hilarious and always made his lectures fun. His test are very easy, all they consist of is doing 2 questions and writing a summary of them front and back on 2 sheets of paper. His projects are also very easy as well.
Pls take my advice and don't take a class with Kennedy. He doesn't teach, just talks about unrelated events and shows youtube videos during class. Does not know how to use his email/Canvas. No grading criteria is given -all tests are essay format. He may be easy to get a B or C with, but if you are looking to work for an A he is not a good choice.
He is a great teacher as long as you can follow given instructions. He is very caring too and allowed for me to make up some assignments that I had missed. He is veryyyy liberal but overall a great teacher!
Very nice and caring professor. Tests are essay questions but it is not hard and there are multiple to choose from. Would suggest reading the book to get more details but you will pass even if you just listen to his lectures. Would definitely take him again!
He was legit the coolest professor I took. His lectures are summaries of the book. I learned alot about history bc of him. Take him!
Very easy A, if you pay attention to due dates for projects. One of the easier classes Ive taken. There are just tests on every couple of chapters and theyre all essay tests so be ready to write. As long as you read the chapters before the tests youll do fine.
Doesnt use Canvas at all. Difficult to keep up with assignment deadlines and details of assignments when he also doesnt answer emails. Tests are essay questions and a lot of writing.
There is an exam every other week. You choose 2 essay questions and write 2 pages for each question. He was lenient in grading in my case but the exams are difficult if you dont read the text. He is also very left and tends to say some offensive things about people associated to the right so dont take this class if you will get angered by that.
Best professor ever. Very easy A. Only one test every two weeks and has a take home final. His lectures are so funny and easily my most favorite professor.
Very easy and very fun professor. Only a test every other week and the final is at home so there is almost no reason not to get an A in the class.
Hes a funny professor but hes very left and talks a lot about personal politics. His assignments are pretty easy but his grading is confusing. He never uses canvas or answers emails. He only gives letter grades for assignments and averages them out at the end of the semester. His lectures are very long but hes pretty entertaining.
No homework. Make sure to study for exams every other week. The final is writing 9 pages so if you would prefer questions with written answer take the online class. Class is lectures and you will have some projects. Like a video presentation, powerpoint, and a couple of papers. Overall, he is understanding about late work and grades well.
Amazing professor, i have learned so much from him and his class. He is so funny and knows how to keep the class entertained. there are a few projects but they are very easy and fun. There is a test every other week on two chapters but the test is easy if you just read the chapters.
Mr. Kennedy is a very intelligent guy. A lot of his political views are imparted in the class lectures but is open to discussion from opposing views. Class is very essay heavy, so if you don't like to write take another class. No grades posted online and no feedback given on assignments with the exception of your grade. Not an easy course.
Very exam heavy with a 4 page writing exam every other week. He also did not cover much material in class, as he spent most time talking about politics. This caused students to have to read lengthy chapters at home in preparation for the exams. He is a nice person and the course is an easy A if you don't mind reading the material on your own time.
Prof. Kennedy was awesome and always respected any personal issues that were to happen outside of class. He doesn't mind a few missed classes but will call you out if you miss a lot. He has an exam every other week on 1-2 chapters and each exam is a four page hand-written assignment that you must do in class with no notes. ITS HARD! but fun.
He's incredibly one sided and doesn't teach much history, rather bits and pieces of history with his opinion on the subject being his main talking points. If you have any ideologies that differ from his and you speak out on it when called upon, no matter how respectful you are, he will mock you and twist your words into something they're not.
I enjoyed Mr.Kennedy's lectures. 10000% take him. Mr.Kennedy makes his lectures fun/enjoyable to watch. I took him both Spring & Summer semester and enjoyed both equally. There are essays but as long as you pay attention and write notes, you will be fine. 100/100.
DONT TAKE HIS CLASS.
I'd suggest not taking his course. My experience with this professor was negative, due to him rarely discussing the actual course material, and instead talking about topics which are unrelated, and showing us even more unrelated youtube videos about his lectures. It almost feels as if you're on your own for studying, rather than him helping you.
Very straightforward. Would tell you what he wanted and even gave extra time to certain people. Be prepared for a lot of writing. I would say it's easy if you put in the effort, and you don't have to put in a lot. Very good lectures. I'm taking him again.
Whatever you do, do NOT take this professor. His lectures are completely about politics, and he only talks about the correct material 5% of the time. He assigns weekly essays, and bi-weekly exams which consists of completing two-page essays. Do NOT take this professor, do yourself a favor and take any other professor.
He is an average professor. He gives us weekly essays, biweekly exams (4 in total), and 2 projects. The exams are easy as long as you read the textbook enough. He is not tech savvy, his lectures are mainly about politics and not class material. The class is very writing based, so I would not recommend you to take this class if you dislike writing.
He does not go over material but tells you exactly what is on the test. Most of the time you won't even need to read the full chapter. Unapologetically far left and you will never know what he is about to say. Not a harsh grader at all. Loves uniqueness and personality in his students and wants them to express it in their projects. funny and nice
His lectures were great because he would basically give out what he was going to put on the test, but sometimes he would just talk about his political viewpoints. The test was 2 essays about 1/2 pages each. He tries to assign weekly essays, but sometimes forgets to assign them. He is a pretty easy grader, and final was online and in essay format.
I would not suggest Professor Kennedy for this course. He is not tech savvy, and I didn't really know my grade at the end of the semester because our test are not added to the Canvas. He tends to go off on unrelated topics when lecturing, and will go over the same subject material in class instead of starting something new. He was just OK :/
I would take Kennedy again, I had him for AMH 1010 and 1020 and I loved it! He makes the lectures fun and will be understanding and caring if you're a good student and do the work. However, the class is heavy writing and has a lot of papers so if you aren't a fan of writing it might be hard, but he takes late work, and the papers are easy.
Professor Kennedy gives an exam/test every two weeks. They are very harshly graded so be glad with a "B." Most assignments are essay formatted so be prepared to write. Tends to state his own opinion very frequently during lectures. He has at least two projects where you present in front of the class.
Talks a lot about politics but that is to be expected from a history class. Very straightforward class & professor, nothing too difficult or out of this world if you are paying attention to class and doing what you are assigned to do. Recommended it if you don't mind hearing different opinions/perspectives on political subjects.
2 page essays every 2 weeks, 5-page paper assigned Day 1; he created a tense atmosphere with very aggressive, sneering, mocking, tear-down talk about political candidates and their "constituents." Lots of projected warnings about elections so he is not instructing. I like history so this was very uncomfortable and disappointing...
He is extremely chill, and I personally like how his tests are essay based, because I suck at "normal" tests. However, he goes on political tangents instead of talking about what is on the test lol. He tends to be a little unsensitive at times (against jewish people and LGBT people) but I know he means well. I am taking him again for AMH1020.
theres a lot of essays so if you don't like writing don't take this course
He knows his history and the class isn't too hard if you're okay with writing, as there are weekly papers and all of the tests are essays. The only issue I had with him was the political tangents he would go off on. He very clearly was trying to persuade students to think a certain way politically. Made the class uncomfortable. Wouldn't recommend.
Professor Kennedy's class is not that hard if you have a decent background on american history. The class is structured on a 2 week schedule: 3 classes of the professor reading over notes (he will tell you the exact prompts for the tests!!) and then a class for tests. The test is 2 papers each being a page front and back. The essays are graded easy
All he does is go on these obnoxious political tangents. On the very first day of class, he went on a political rant the second he walked through the door that lasted for a good 5 minutes. It was extremely unprofessional. The lectures are even worse. He constantly goes off topic and scoffs ideas and people that he disagrees with.
he often gave a lot of papers and every other week on wednesdays he gives a test which is pick two prompts and the write a two page essay which i can understand why someone wouldn't like. he is sometimes about 5 mintues late to class but if you're up for the writing its a easy class.
Professor Kennedy's class can be treated like a study hall. Expect to write 2 essays every other week as "tests" and occasional projects. Nothing is graded inside class hours, and none of the writing is proctored. As long as you can write on history and it seems like you know what you are talking about, this class is an easy A.
He was very rude and is very political rarely speaking on topic.
people don't like his " rants" but if you listen to what he is actually saying and not take it personal it has a lot to do with current events , 4 projects in class all due before the semester is over which are pretty easy projects, easy grader, his test are two one page essays which are on prompts you pick. he will tell you what is on the test
Professor Kennedy's class has a lot of writing, but if you engage with it, the lectures are worth attending. Use unstuckstudy AI and the free textbook to prep - it saved me time and helped me earn a solid grade.
He talks about racism, his own gun he owns, rapists, and illegals and asks if anyone has drugs so he can turn them in to get money because he does not get paid enough. He says horrible jokes that should not be in a classroom even if it is filled with adults. He is offensive with his jokes, makes sexist and points out colored people in class.
This class is very manageable, clearly gives out what content will be on tests. Tests consist of 2 separate 2 page papers, with on option of about 10 different writing points on 2 chapters. He is very engaged with students, pretty funny guy. This is an easy A.
A lot of work but it's easy. He doesn't really do lectures just tells you what to read up on for the test, test every 2 weeks, 2 essays, in person. Weekly discussion posts, oral presentation, project, 5 min video etc. a LOT of work. Mostly self taught course!!!
10/10 class experience! It's very essay heavy but, it's fairly easy if you read the chapters in the book. He gives you most of the topics that's going to be on the test. The "test" is two separate two paged essays about the chapters. I would not recommend not if you're very sensitive to different point of view of today's issues and cracking jokes.
Professor Kennedy is a knowledgeable teacher who clearly understands American history. The work isn't difficult if you read the textbook. Homework is a lot of essays but they aren't difficult. He does tend to give a lot of personal social and political opinions which do get tiring after a while. If you can look past them, this class is fine.
This was the easiest class I've ever taken. He tells you what will be on the essay exams and what chapters you need to study. As politics is a part of history, he will talk about the current political climate. As a queer POC, I never felt uncomfortable. Everything is straightforward, I highly recommend this class if you want an easy A.
This class was EASY. There were about three major assignments and a written exam every other week but he grades nicely. He goes on a political tangent for most of class so this class can be used as a study hall. Dont take this class if you are easily offended by peoples opinions.
I honestly loved Kennedy. A lot of people argue that he goes on political rambles in class a lot, but if your mature about that sort of thing, it really doesn't affect the class. Kennedy is super understanding and he assigns many little assignments throughout the semester with tests every other week. It's pretty managable overall. Super funny guy.
Professor Kennedy is a great professor and great at his job! He does say things some may take offense if too sensitive so if that's you don't take his class. He teaches by making jokes and comparing old history to pop culture or funny recent things to help students grasp it better I feel like. I would recommend him!
Condescending and incapable of giving valuable feedback. Save your time and find a different professor.
There is pretty much 2-3assignments a week. Lots of writing but his instructions are clear and it's an easy A if you turn in good work. And make sure you don't use AI.
