This professor doesn't sugar coat anything, he tells it like it is! =)

He is awesome! He is 100% willing to help you out if you get stuck or get behind in the class. Classes are well organized and though it was at 7am (ahh!), he made it fun!

Kevin is a great professor, I have learned so much in his class. I look foward to going to class. He is imparcial, kind and funny.

Kevin is an awesome teacher. His papers were required you to engage in the concept of youth and society. They weren't boring papers, like you might have to do for other classes. I loved the Exam-buster projects. I learned so much from them! Highly Recommend you take this class!

He may not have conventional methods but that does not mean they don't work. He teaches things that are more important to understand than what you can read in a book. Classes do not need to be all about tests and lectures you will just forget in a year or so anyway. I feel that what I learned in his class will help me in my career and in life.

One of the best teachers I have ever had. It's not your typical lecture and test class, you actually do other things. Instead of reading about society we got to experince it. Out of all my classes his impacted me the most, because his class was the only class where I got to visit a jail and see what life behind bars is really like.

Prof K is way cool! Methods is typically a ridiculously boring class and he actually made it fun and interesting! He assigns weekly homework (pretty easy) and there is one big project due at the end of the semester. He is very helpful via email and office hours. Definitely recommend him for Soc 360! Don't forget to check him our on My Space!

Easy prof., but you learn a lot from his class. We didn't take any tests, instead, we got to visit the vista jail, the san marcos sheriff's dept., and the vista sheriff's dept., but you the student(s) have to plan out the trip on test day. He gives you an option on either taking the test or going to the trip to whatever institute.

Awesome teacher!!! Take him! He made the class extremely interesting. He is hilarious and always has you laughing. He loves to talk about news/sports for the first 10 minutes of class. He learns your names fast and is always helpful. Best teacher so far at CSUSM!!

His bark is worse than his bite!! I was intimidated by the course, but once I got through it, I realized how easy it was! Take him for 360 if you want an easy course!

Super cool and laid back professor. Didn't really learn anything in the class but all I wanted to do was pass. You can be very lost if you miss class. Tests are hard but they are open note and open book.I really liked him as a person.

He's so laid back, sometime lectures get you lost, but it just takes time for all the info to be absorbed. Take good notes cause exams are open. 2 exams and one paper/presentation.

He is a very nice professor. His tests are open book/notes, you'll need it. Weekly homework due, but it is easy. If you have quesions about the homework, you NEED to talk to him. Otherwise he will not go over it. Presentation, seems confusing, just ASK and he'll clarify. The final was a little more tough. Take good notes or tape the lectures.

I love this professor. You can talk to him about anything...anything. If you need help, just ask him. He's so helpful. But the presentation was pretty confusing. Open book exams. pretty fun cause you can surf the internet while he lectures. just make sure you take your notes or you'll be lost.

This teacher will scare you into thinking he is mean and tough, but he is one of the most paceint and carring teachers. Take really good notes, you will need them for the test, there are only two, and he pretty much holds your hand through the paper that you have to wright. wonderful person and amazing teacher.

Fun Class. Good instructor.

Easiest. Class. Ever. ...As long as you take any notes you need and do the weekly homework that takes all of five minutes. Heck I wrote an excel sheet to answer all the test questions for me and he was totally cool with it, and I used it to get a perfect score (at least on the midterm, unknown what I got on the final). Got an A in the class.

Professor has a GREAT sense of humor. a few assignments, midterm, final. final paper must be 8-10 pages, but you can works in groups of up to 3...overall great class

Best teacher ever, things were very clear, percise and easy to understand. He expalins things very well. If you do the homework, (which he does not grade, just turn soemthing in) you will pass the class.

Took at National University. Super easy class, very helpful and understanding. Would definitly take again. Wish he taught more at National. Loved this guy!

Prof K does an outstanding job relating the subject matter. He will assist you anytime. He is just what this subject needs for instruction.He cares for all of his students and his cats! A favorite of mine.

Such an easy professor! There is a long paper that you are required to do, but he tells you about it the beginning of the semester. Homework assignments prepare you for it & you can just copy and paste them in the project. You have to really try to fail this class. Tests are open book and open note!

This is an easy class. I'll give the prof an E for effort, but after a full semester I'm more confused now than before I entered the class. Notes/text can be used for the midterm. Final consists of 8 page paper, but can be done as a group (15 pages) and he gives you about 4 class periods to work on it in. Not a bad prof to take this class with.

Professor K is the best professor at CSUSM hands down! really chill guy, makes the class fun and interesting and over all had a good time. attendance is not mandatory, but i found myself going to every class haha. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Great Prof. Understands college students lifestyles and what's going on with us as students. Coursework and midterms are simple as long as you keep up in class. He tells you everything you need to know before the exam and what is expected of you from your final project. HW has no due date can turn in anytime before end of semester.

Great Proffessor. He teaches you everything you need to know. He makes the class fun and interesting. There is a long paper at the end of the semester but he helped you put it together. If you save everything from day one in his class, thats how you do the paper. So save save save..

Not too bad of a class. Prof. is pretty cool. Weekly assignments are easy. Midterm is hard but he has a great way of preparing you for the midterm and final. He is really laid back and if you every need clarification of any work, meet up with him for office hrs. He really cares that you understand and will make every effort so that you do.

Amazing teacher!! Take him. Come to class, do the work, and study for the midterm and final. I wish more teachers were like him.

Awesome Professor. He makes the class fun with all the crazy things he says. You will succeed if you come to class, do the work (most of the times you can do it there), pay attention and take notes for the open book midterm and final. The final paper and presentation are easy and he guides you through them. We did our in class the whole time.

Take notes, pay attention to SPSS, turn in all your homework which he does at the end of each class. Midterm & final are open book, open notes. He a very dry sense of humor so don't take him too seriously. Glad I had to take this for my major. Wish he taught SOC361 too.

This guy is awesome. He relates to students and is very helpful. He comes off strict and difficult but he is quite the opposite. Take his class if you can.

He can seem very intimidating at first, but is actually a cool guy. The midterm and final are both open book/open notes. There is homework throughout the semester with problems assigned from the book. These count for your grade and help you understand the material. Don't be afraid to ask for help--he wants you to pass the class.

WARNING: he's actually a softie, once you get to know him. Attendance is optional, but it helps if you go, obviously.

He is one of the most helpful instructors who cares about his students. If you do not or cannot understand something, just ask - he would help you. Attendance is not mandatory, but it is a good idea to be there to get help. Just make sure to turn in your assignments on time.

Prof. K is by far THE BEST professor I've had. Although it may seem difficult getting use to SPSS, as long as you show up to every class, he will walk you through every process. You'll have two papers which are incredibly easy to complete, and the rest of the assignments are all done through SPSS. Have him check your work before you turn in it.

He cares about you and treats you like a human being without judgement. Great person to talk too when feeling down. Best teacher at CSUSM!!!

Best stats teacher ever!!! If you need to fulfill a stats requirement take him! He is awesome! He tries to scare you at first but he's a really good guy. He truly cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He makes stats easy to understand. If you don't understand something go to his office hours. It helps. Easy grader. Would take again.

Great professor! you will not be sorry if you take his class. He is random and gets side tracked often but he teaches what you need to learn while still being hilarious and making the class fun, no textbook required, no quizzes or final, just 3 big assignments that require detail but are not too difficult but he gives you plenty of time in class.

The class itself is not hard but Kilpatrick, although he is a cool dude, grades harshly. Don't do the extra credit because he never added it into our grades at the end of the semester just because he didn't feel like it. Again, he's a great person but a harsh grader.

Kilpatrick was a awesome guy. He came off as intimidating to me at first, but he ended up being amazing. Things in this class can be left kind of broad at times, but if you are willing to ask for help you will be fine. He is a very caring person and loves his students. Sometimes the toughest professors turn out to be the best ones!

Took Kevin when I first started CSUSM and he is so passionate and caring. His class was not the easiest for me, but he made the material doable and was always willing to help. If you are looking for a class with a caring and caring professor - you found him!

Great man and professor. Has a sense of humor and wants to talk to students. You can seriously do the homework in class and be done. Class always ended early for me but I stayed and finished homework. You do not have to show up but doing the hw right away gets it over with. I would take him again. Do not be afraid to ask questions. Jokester.

He truly cares about the well being of his students, even would frequently talk about the importance of mental health. The classwork itself wasnt the most interesting to me but he made it relatable and I looked forward to every class just because of his teaching style. Very honest and super funny guy, cant say enough good things about him!

I had Professor Kilpatrick for 201 and 360. He is incredibly funny, kind, and actually cares about you as a person not just student. He is understanding of your other class responsibilities and is responsive to student questions and concerns. Awesome professor!! Highly recommend taking his classes :)

My easiest Professor this semester! He cares a lot and accepts late work due to the circumstances of COVID. Super funny and understanding. Would take him again!

Professor Kilpatrick is such an awesome human being. He creates a fun and positive online learning environment. He cares so much for his students and shows support and encourages you in every way possible. Please take him , I promise you will not regret. I wish I could take him for all of my Soc classes.

THE BEST PROFESSOR AT CSUSM!!! This dude is so funny and caring for his students, would defiantly take his class again. Don't miss his class because you can get lost but he does record zooms and send them to everyone. He ties jokes into his lectures which make them entertaining. he should get a raise for being such a great teacher!

Kilpatrick was a pretty solid professor. The material itself was pretty hard for me, but he makes it easy. Not only does he teach it in class, but there's videos on Cougarcourses on how to do it. He also records class and posts it online. All the resources are there for you, which makes the material a lot easier to learn.

Soc 360 was definitely the class I was dreading the most, but if he wasnt the professor there is no way I would have enjoyed it. He is so funny, entertaining, and extremely helpful. He goes the extra mile to help and will do anything to help you succeed. He also offers easy extra credit! The final is the hardest assignment. Definitely recommend!

The best professor I have met in the united states. Very humor and caring student require. Friendly and smart. It change my attitude and give me a big help. He is a good professor and influenced me so much. I have to say he is a real teacher and a real educational worker.

Awesome professor! He will literally walk you through every single thing you need help with and truly cares about our success. Funny guy who seems to not win over the more serious ones. If you want a fun class where youll also learn then take him! Its impossible to fail this class unless you just dont try.

Professor Kilpatrick is very personal and is a really fun guy! He is very interactive and helps those who ask for help! The material learnt is very professional stuff, like GIS mapping, and SPSS databasing, even writing papers- the way you present your project is graded on skill and professional display, you get practice for real work-environment.

Kilpatrick is just AWESOME! I took him for SOC 201 and had him again for SOC 360 because he is just that great! I am HORRIBLE when it comes to stats but his lectures and videos made it very easy to follow along. He is always happy to help and I loved hearing his stories. I will definitely miss having him as a professor!

He is amazing, understanding and very funny! Heads up, his lecture videos are very old and it could be very hard to understand. He will try to help you to the best of his ability. He's very reliable and great!

Not many assignments throughout the semester but the final was very heavy (2 group and 1 individual project). Gives great lectures and is very clear. If you don't understand he is very welcoming of questions. Also lots of extra credit opportunities to take advantage of. One of my more fun classes this semester.

Prof Kilpatrick is one of a kind. He's a funny guy with rad dad jokes. He also replies to emails quickly! If you have any questions, ask him immediately; he'll help you 100%. Also, make sure to have SPSS ready. There were only two papers: one short paper and the group project for the final. The class itself is pretty chill.

one of the best profs i have taken! super funny prof and great lecturer. some of his video lectures are very old but he accepts all questions and is super helpful! the final projects sound super difficult but every assignment in this class teaches you how to do the final. it isn't a hard class at all, just super tedious.

Weirdest professor I have ever had in my three years of college. Shows up late to his own lecture, walks around barefoot, and talks about his ex-wife and current events. HOWEVER, he is the BEST and most knowledgeable when it comes to SPSS and other related things. I highly recommend Kilpatrick if you want to have a pretty relaxed stats class.

Professor Kilpatrick was an amazing professor, he teaches well and all of lessons are online so those who like to stay at home and work. He does have some big projects so please don't wait last minute, plus, please complete the homework, your grade will suffer greatly if you miss one or two assignments. Would highly recommend tho

Professor Kilpatrick is a great instructor, but be aware that he doesn't do much actual teaching during class. That being said, if you take the initiative to go to his office hours you'll have a much better chance of succeeding. I ended up with an A in his class. Overall, I'd still recommend him.
