A really fun class. You have a group project that goes throughout the whole semester. Everything is connected. He doesn't put lectures online so make sure you are taking notes in class. He likes to get to know the class so be open to talking to him. I'd definitely take him for another course.
Super easy and enjoyable class. The whole class is based on group work and presentations. Otherwise, easy A. Didn't even need to use the textbook honestly.
Assignments look clear but grades heavy. Presentations for group project are the midterm and final.
One of my favorite class I took in a long time. You don't have to show up but if you do you will not regret. No tests, couple assignments here and there and a GROUP PROJECT. Now choose awesome people and you will be fine. The Midterm and Final are a group presentation. As to the books I personally only used it 2-3 times to do some assignments.
One of my faviorite professors. after a long time I actually enjoyed taking a class. Every assignment is group work. Choose your group wisely. I didn't have a great group which made things stressful. If everyone does their part then you will do fine. He is always willing to help.
Make sure to choose a good group! You have a semester long group project. The midterm and final are presentations so no tests! The class itself isn't that interesting, but he makes it bearable.
I enjoyed this class and its unconventional structure. The first half of each class is based on interactive discussions, which may not be comfortable for some; it is a communications class. The content and assignments aren't overly difficult, but hard work and having a great group doesn't guarantee an A. Make sure you use an outline for everything.
Loved the class when discussion and lecture were happening, hated the class assignments. Group project and no clear directions/conflicting information given. Straight answers were not given when a question was asked. He is an unfairly thought grader when it came to the assignments, but the exams are online and pretty easy.
I'm not even sure anymore how I feel about him. The class itself and the content is not difficult, what makes it difficult is HIM. He has very specific ways that he wants the assignments but doesn't tell you. He then will tell you and then tell you something else another time. Make sure to have a good group or else you're going to have a TOUGH time
Kevin is a cool guy and makes class interesting. Be aware that you do a semester long group project, so pick a good group! You really need a good group to do well in this class, a lot of this class is based on group work. He is EXTREMELY unclear when it comes to what he wants done in assignments and fails to clarify clearly when asked directly.
Lovelace uses lots of technology in the class which can be challenging. I like that he relates to the class and uses his personal experiences. I understand that some students find him difficult because he is engaging and requires you to think but I feel like that is what real work will be like.
I really feel that Kevin gave me a chance to voice my opinion in class even when there was a lot of arguing about the topic. I know not every one has the same views but we all need to be heard. I am not a fan of the group project, it takes too long and working in a group is not fun. He says that we need to learn to work in groups for our career.
It makes sense that a professor teaching communication will talk with you and not to you. Instead of talking about a subject, he guides a class conversation. If you make a mistake, he guides you through learning from it. You will learn how to communicate via email, sure. But you will learn so much more if you open yourself up to try.
As a person, hes super cool. But as a professor, hes so arrogant. Hes very strict when it comes to the rubrics so make sure you follow all of the directions. If you do all that he asks for, you should be fine. Your whole grade is based on group work, so pick a good group.
PROs: Easy A with attendance/effort. Little "homework." No real studying to do. Very cool guy, albeit a bit emotional (you can clearly tell if he's having a bad day or a good day). Learn a lot about powerpoints. Lots of practice with presenting. CONs: Asks for constructive feedback, but takes it poorly (a bit insecure). Assignments are unclear.
I would not recommend taking this class with this professor. He is a very harsh grader and the whole class is based on group project. If you get stuck with bad group, it will affect you.
This class is based on 2 group projects so pick wisely. Dr. Lovelace is a nice person but he is a really tough grader like he sticks to the rubric. Quizlet is your best friend for this class. Have fun!
Horrible professor. First of all he makes you feel dumb when you ask question. He gives absolutely no directions for his assignments but is extremely picky and will mark you down for anything he possibly can. Kinda felt as if he likes giving people horrible grades.
Worst professor who teaches business communications. He himself is hard to reach out and get a straight answer for any confusing assignments. Changes things up in class about assignments but posts completely different instructions online. Beware of this class because their are a ton of group projects and group assignments that require a lot.
Warning! RUN! I would NOT recommend this professor to anyone! He gives absolutely no directions for anything but then is extremely picky. Overall the class is very confusing and frustrating. If you ask him a question he will not answer clearly. Pros: no tests and easy quizzes ( which is not much of ur grade) Cons: group work and presentation.
Very harsh and challenging professor, material is simple and easy, he himself makes it hard. Take randall instead, he knows how to communicate material better to students.
If you seek a dedicated professor with clear expectations and flexibility, Dr. Lovelace may not be the best choice. Questions will be answered ambiguously but the answers will be treated as clear. Condescension. He has fallen into the category of professors who wear too many hats. Tedious. PICK COMPETENT GROUPMATES and you'll survive this class.
Professor Lovelace is passionate and intentionally answers questions ambiguously- it has a purpose but truthfully it makes the course far more difficult and him unapproachable. He's "by the book" in a way that can be insensitive. The group project the dictates most of your grade is time consuming and one bad member can bring you all down.
This class is fairly simple, it is focused on 1 group project for the whole semester. Ask a lot of questions about it because his syllabus and instructions aren't very specific. And in his words thats how he wants it, its up to you to figure out how to best to do it. Not to bad of a class, and made better by the personality he brings to class.
This professor is intelligent within the subject, he just shouldn't teach. My definition of a professor is someone who shows they wanna be there and someone who actually smiles. Professor Lovelace if you read these please show more empathy towards your students and our class this semester would agree to communicate more clear responses thanks!
Quite a poor experience, especially in a class that could potentially teach and inspire so much. Lovelace seems to think his unorthodox teaching style is supreme, when in reality it leaves students confused and frustrated. I am sure the only reason he would get positive reviews is because there is no homework and the class is pretty easy.
I don't know why the negativity exists with this professor, but I thought he wasn't that bad. Quizzes were from the book, no exams, just a semester-long group project. Overall, not a bad professor. The hybrid class goes by really fast and beware of who you pick for your groups because you'll be working with them all semester long. Attainable A.
Dr. Lovelace is very proud of his accomplishments. He may come off to you as arrogant and narcissistic. He will be more than happy to tell you how many people have told him he's their favorite boss ever and how they strive to be like him. He teaches with a very vague and indirect approach leaving many students wondering. I wouldn't recommend.
Dr. Lovelace has an unorthodox teaching style and structure is not the best. Despite this frustration, I really liked the lectures. The tests weren't overly difficult. The group you are in will make or break your experience. Meet early, meet often, assign tasks, and make sure everyone follows through. No homework besides reading. Solid choice.
A unique teaching style which leaves students perplexed and confused, all while exclaiming personal achievements, self-gratification, praise, and humble arrogance. Very ambiguous directions, particularly on the heaviest graded assignments. Group heavy/ dependent class. Trivial lectures with minimum information where participation is required.
My boss was really happy with what I learned in this class. He said I changed in a good way and now look at for promotion. Dr. Lovelace was always ready to help and I really liked how we got to make our final project our own. This class also set me up for future group work.
Great professor! I really enjoyed his lectures and how he brought his real life experience to the class. Great course, I would take both class and instructor again! He is vary approachable!
I would take Dr. Lovelace again. He made the class enjoyable and is approachable. I was having a hard first semester as a transfer and he worked with me to understand my major and class work.
Good course, I struggled to get into it as much as others seemed to. I would recommend others to take it!
He gets you ready for real-life industry jobs. Not for the faint-hearted or coddled child. Vague and challenging, but the strong will survive. You are in charge of your own fate. Keep up, and don't slack on out of class assignments and you will get an A. Think of him as your CEO, not your elementary school teacher.
The class is centered around 3 VERY big group projects! The projects are difficult to plan with COVID, and very time consuming!! His expectations are very unclear, and when you ask questions he tells you to find the answer yourself, or laughs at you. He comes across very helpful and nice, but with being online the class is very difficult.
Goes over any questions before showing pre-recorded lectures, clear on what he is asking, if not he is easily reached via email or MS Teams (heavily used). Semester long project (assigned groupmates, weekly quizzes (easy but worth a lot of your grade), easy tests. Put effort into project, stay on top of quizzes, chill class with real-world lessons
Professor Lovelace is very kind and genuinely enjoys teaching. He was very passionate about the subject and he did a great job navigating this class while working with students through the pandemic situation. If you have an opportunity to take HROB101 with him, look no further because he is as good as it gets. Great educator and great person.
Material is interesting. No homework is nice. Group project that requires original research and data collection. Group project also involves writing a 15 page paper, 15 pages of body content not including the title, letter of transmittal, appendices, etc. Doesn't give clear cut expectations, more of a generalization and the rest is up to you to get
Work with an assigned group in MS Teams all semester long. If you get a good group, you'll do well in this course. There are 2 group projects (one small and one final), and 3 smaller group assignments. Weekly chapter quizzes (25 questions) and 3 exams (35 questions), no final exam. You don't really NEED the book but it comes in handy.
Get prepared to read the textbook and devote all your free time to his group projects. Dr. Lovelace is VERY ambigious with his project instructions, which is ironic considering he's a communications professor. He will grade you very harshly and his feedback lacks articulation and objectivity. Disappointed to say I would not take again.
Professor Lovelace is great. His class was very fun and it was really interesting. He answers emails and is always available to answer any questions. He really cares about his students. I would definitely take him if you plan on taking MGMT 102. He wants his students to pass so he helps as much as possible to achieve this goal.
BIG GROUP PROJECT! It will suck up much of your time. However, this project is something that you can talk about on your resume due to its extensiveness and interaction with the business world. He is very nitpicky about following the format. If you do badly on it, your grade won't suffer because you will do good on the exams and quizzes.
super easy class and his lectures are pretty entertaining. you definitely need to read the textbook to supplement them though. weekly quizzes with 3 exams which pull from the same test bank of questions as the quizzes. totally online course and synchronous but he didn't require attendance and recorded lectures. also only 1 lecture a week
This was a fully online asynchronous course. The book is only available online as well. The instructor did not do any teaching, there were no lectures just quizzes based on the chapter readings that only sometimes reflected what was contained in those chapters. Then there was a 500 pt group project due at the end. This was a terrible class!!!!!!
Mr. Lovelace is not the usual professor. He started class off with an open discussion. This helped give a better idea of who my classmates were and helped in other classes with these now familiar faces. I mentioned I was pursuing real estate and Mr. Lovelace connected me with someone in the field. Definitely pick your group wisely and stay active.
I dislike how he talked to the students. He talked to us as if we were kids and don't know how to read. We asked questions and he just reads off the same assignment. He literally does not help us or answer questions. He has that alpha vibe which does not help us students. The group projects are kind of useless too. The quizzes are also confusing.
Easy quizzes that basically set you up for the exams. The only issue I encountered was the clarity of group assignments and really any larger assignment. His instructions are not clear and when you ask him to clarify he literally rereads you his instructions as if that makes them any more clear. Lectures feel eternal but for an easy A, not bad.
Save yourself the trouble and take MGMT 102 with another professor. He never replies to emails or messages unless it's about his failing business and reputation with clients. For a communications professor, he sucks at it and is so confusing. The only thing I learned from this class was how to gaslight professionally.
Definitely not a good professor. He grades very hard and the guidelines are very vague. You will do a group project that is 400 points which can bring your grade down by a whole letter. He will have you select clients from his business and makes you sign a voluntary form. If you do not sign the form? Beware. Also learned nothing from him.
On one hand, the material was very easy and you just watch one lecture and quiz per week. There is a 500 Pt Group Project and a 400 Pt Group Presentation that takes the majority of the grade. He will not elaborate if you ask anything and just rereads his instructions and says that's simple enough. Take it for an easy grade, but you won't learn much
I took Professor Lovelace for MGMT 102. There were weekly quizzes online that were a bit confusing because of the wording. Huge group project and presentation towards the end of the course. Not the best but certainly not the worst.
He graded the weekly discussion board posts somewhat tough even though the requirements were met.
I am a business student and his class was a class I needed for credits. The exams and quizzes are online. The majority of the points is on the student project. It's not hard, just time consuming and gotta put in effort to get it done.
I think that this professor was really caring and put that effort into his teaching. I think that he seems a little scary at first but that is just the professor feeling he gives off. Overall had a great time in his class and would recommend him.
AHHHH, ego alert! What a nightmare. His lectures and textbook are irrelevant to the quizzes. He was incredibly rude to the class and constantly made us feel that he was better than us. He has high expectations, but never conveyed those expectations clearly in his instructions. Only take if you must, there's a lot of potential masked my a huge ego.
Very Though grader, do not waste your time with this professor. He does not care about his students.
I would NOT recommend this professor to anyone!
Great class, having a business background is definitely a plus. Must read and pay attention to the lectures.
There is a big group project which was very difficult to complete since this is an asynchronous online course. There are a lot of assignments so there are many opportunities to get points. The group assignment was just so time-consuming.
Super easy class to take. have to do some reading every week because of the homework but super easy tho one thing I didn't like too much was the the final project which was a presentation almost 13% of your grade depends on it not to hard tho
Chill dude. The grade really depends on your group, though. If you get a good group like I did, then this class will be a breeze. If you don't get a good group this class might be a disaster because it's tough pass without passing the big group project at the end of the semester.
Easy A. Attendance is not mandatory. Many extra credit. Group project but not hard. 2 minutes presentation at the end. A couple of exams, but all exams and final are online. If you want to increase your GPA, take this professor.
There is a group project that takes up a bulk majority of your final grade.
Dr. Lovelace was a great professor and is very knowledgeable about this subject. The course consisted of a group project that you work on throughout the semester and chapter quizzes/exams. Make sure you pick your group members wisely! His lectures were very tedious. Also, ask questions because he can be vague or not clear with his instructions.
Professor Lovelace was a great Professor when it came to his lectures and was very chill. Attendance isn't mandatory but there are times during the semester project when he'll want you in class. A semester project worth lots of points and may seem intimidating, but it was a lot easier as time went on.
This professor was one of the best professors I have had. He wanted you to feel comfortable and like you were his equal. He would ask you about your weekend and morning which would break the ice every morning and it was quite nice.
Professor Lovelace is an AMAZING teacher. There is a group social media project you work on the whole semester 3-5 people. You select a nonprofit or small business and recommend things to enhance their social media. Lovelace creates a warm and welcoming environment. He cares about his students and their success.
The BRO of business. Lovelace is a very cool dude. You can tell that he cares about his students. There is weekly quizzes that are pretty easy, with 3 exams. As long as you listen to the lectures and/or refer to the book, youll be fine. One group project that is very fun. Although when you ask for help hes not too detailed. Take him!
Professor Lovelace is a really nice guy who definitely cares for his students. The class itself was fairly easy although majority of your time will be spent on the social media project, which can be difficult depending on your group. If you get a good group, then this class is an easy A.
Course material was not interesting nor learned anything important. Stuff like "Beware of slackers in a group project" like thanks for teaching us that. Easy class but I don't recommend going to class time.
The class is easy, however the group project felt extremely disorganized. He takes random attendance and doesn't take into account all of the other days you are present in class. This is extremely frustrating as you can miss only one class and if he happens to take attendance that day you are given a 0.
Takes attendance on random days and can bring your grade down. He can be difficult with the group project since he does not answer your question with a yes or no. It's always "possibly" "could be". He does not give examples from previous class except the book for the group project. It felt very disorganized with due dates
Lectures were boring and repeats stuff from the book, but its not enough for the quizzes. He can spend up to 20 mins just talking about a quote lol. Group project was okay if you have a good group, but he's really bad at answering questions. Doesn't give you a straightforward answer. Wish we had assignments in class related to the report instead
Dr. Lovelace's grading system sucks especially for the project. It can impact your grade drastically, 200pts per discussion post, 500pts for group project, 400pts for peer review of other people's presentation and 800pts for the individual part of the project. Attendance is taking randomly and can greatly impact your grade.
Class is easy, take it for a good grade. No homework just weekly online quizzes and some discussions. Exams are online and one group project which is not hard just hope for a good group.
will never give you a clear answer, i'd avoid taking this professor
Professor Lovelace outlines the class clearly, or at least he thinks he does, so he won't answer questions you have for assignments or individual presentation. There's a group project, so pick the right members. He also is strict on grading; if you make a mistake in uploading an assignment, he says too bad :( He's bearable but can be frustrating.
Professor has good lectures and makes an effort to make everyone practice formal work practices such as greetings etc. Lectures directly correlate with assignments/quizzes/tests which is a plus. Group project involved improving a business through social media. Otherwise great professor.
There's a huge group project due at the end of the semester, definitely get those academic journals out the way first! A quiz after every chapter, and 2-3 exams. The workload is average. You can tell he genuinely cares about his students and loves his job. I would take him again if given the chance! 10/10 recommend.
This was an easy class but his lack of communication and very odd grading makes it a crap shoot. He acts like a cool dude but really is not. He gave me and the other girls the ick...
Dr. Lovelace is great! This class has a lot of assignments and quizzes. I would say the most important thing from the class was the group project. Basically all the lectures and quizzes prepare you for the project. The project may sound difficult in the beginning, but its really not, so don't get scared. 3 exams, two in person and final is online.
Presentation recorded on zoom and was played in class. Group project seemed intimidating and confusing at first but it's really not as complicated as it seemed. Professor is a funny guy, but he's serious when it comes down to business. First two exams are in class but taken on canvas, final is at home, all exams uses lockdown browser.
Attendance is taken on a few pre-selected days. Try to finish the Group Project in the first 4 weeks MAX and keep asking him how to improve it. Great at presenting, shares some very useful personal experiences. Organized, collected, interesting in terms of knowledge and character. Read the book and take notes!
extremely caring for students. accessible in office hours. one large group project, get a good group. involves a lot of research and writing. about 7-10 presentations, 2 minutes MAX. all recorded for a discussion board, very easy. a couple tests, midterm and final on lockdown browser. lectures were clear and useful. balanced and great overall
This is a very useless class, you dont really learn anything. The project is lengthy and annoying. Professor is mean, disrespectful, and will never give you a clear answer. Thinks he is a know it all.
The class failed the exam and he did not care. Quite a stern guy and makes people uncomfortable. I hope he can be more empathetic and caring to future students. Additionally, grading can be unfair and random. I do appreciate that he asks why? when a student answers a question, it does make you critically think.
I'm rating MGMT117. this class clears your intensive writing. Take his class and avoid buying the textbook. Bus. Ethics & Society was a good class. He tells stories but also teaches the class. Laid back but takes the syllabus seriously. Participate!
The debate was amazing, but the exams were horrible. He didn't give any test prep and was very vague with what would be on the exam. I heavily studied my notes and his notes but the test was composed of 95% of textbook material. It was also very specific material… never clarified if it was open book, just I open note… cooked.
This is for his BUS courses. He is extremely difficult to communicate with, never gives clear answers, and can't seem to understand anything he is asked. He gives zero feedback on what you did wrong on assignments. BUS 310 is completely useless as you can learn the material in any other class. Instructions are unhelpful and he is not understanding
Dr. Lovelace is an amazing instructor. He's professional but also has a sense of humor which is refreshing. Quizzes and exams require lots of critical thinking, you can't fly by without studying. The skills he teaches can be used in lots of other business classes. Syllabus outlines everything and he provides ample extra credit. Highly recommend!
Guy is nice, but at the same can be strict / emotional at times. Provides tips that can be applied to life and corporate career if you listen to lectures. He is more focused on tips for climbing up the ladder and corporate world which is solid. Exams have a bunch of trick questions and can have random stuff on there.
