Kevin is the teacher you want! Grades so fairly, easy quizzes. Gives you the study guide that is literally whats given to you the day of the quiz, same with the final. So thankful I was able to take his class. Always emailing students to keep us updated and sends powerpoints from class. just show up and study the study guide, youll pass with an A!
Kevin is the best. He helps the students understand the concept. He should teach more courses at GCC. I highly recommend him. Thanks Kevin, you are the BEST.
Highly recommended.
Kevin is a highly intelligent professor. His teaching style isn't for everyone. It's a straight-to-the-point kind of way. If you like that, then he's your man. He's also very lenient with most things. Attendance and participation are musts to get an A.
Kevin Mack is one of the best history professors at the school. I wasn't a fan of history but taking his class made me become interested. He is truly passionate of what he teaches. It is important to come to class all the time because he does take off points if you don't show up. Overall a great professor.
I have taken a lot of history classes and Kevin is by far my favorite Professor! I don't see how anyone can not enjoy his class because he is so passionate about the subject that you can't help but be intrigued. His sense of humor also makes the class very entertaining. Just study exactly whats on the study guides and you can't fail.
Very hard. If you're not a history fan, don't take him!
Cannot teach. Tests are all memorization.
The guy is one of the best professors at GCC. Don't listen to all these bad raters. What did you expect when taking a history class? an easy multiple choice class. The guy is really passionate about his class and does everything to help the students. He is very straightforward with his exams. He says exactly whats on the test before the exam.
One of the best professors at Gcc, and I am not only saying that because I am a history major. Professor Mack truly teaches history with passion and is dedicated to always helping his students. If you put in the effort you would receive a good grade in the class. Highly recommend students to take any of the classes he teaches.
HORRIBLE TEACHER! Reads straight out of the book. Power Points are useless. He doesn't teach. He just reads the book to the class. Very difficult class and he's extremely boring. It's very easy to zone out in his class.I have no idea why he has good reviews. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!
I was fooled by the good ratings, He is easily the worst professor i have had class with. He doesn't know how to teach, just reads from the text and the tests are possible. Do yourself a favor and dont take his class. He is unclear about papers, tries to make himself seem knowledgeable with big words & you have no idea wtf you're writing about!
An amazing Prof. He teaches his subject through lecture, and all you have to do is sit and listen and learn because he hands you the study guide to the exams which is very helpful. overall a good teacher.
He is very good teacher, I took him in winter, he gives u the quiz and the final questions ahead of time. If u didn't get a good grade blame yourself not him coz it can't be easier than this.
Professor Mack is the Man. If you are lazy and do not plan on attending class, this class isn't for you. His tests are very easy and all the preparation comes directly from the notes and lectures. Mack is solid teacher and I would definitely take his class again.
You can't go wrong with taking Professor Mack. He does everything in his power to ensure his students success. EASY EASY EASY A if you show up and study because he gives you the tests beforehand, he lets you rewrite papers and is open to discussion about grading. Extra 40 points if you participate. Easy homework. Just study and pay attention.
New teacher, better suited for a high school class. Too much HW. VERY boring class. Couldn't wait until it was over. Not a class you want to take if you are shy and don't like to speak out loud in class. Will pick on you to answer questions, makes you feel very uncomfortable. Testing system is horrible, all essay questions. Lots of cramming b4 test
What a roller coaster semester. This class was not easy by any-means, but the most important part was the fact that I learned so much. K.Mack is very helpful. If you don't take advantage of it, you will be lost. He provided the test before you take the test... Sounds easy but it's not... You have to do the work. Do the research and you'll be fine.
When in most cases students (or myself) can easily get lost in a history class. But Prof. Macks energy and knowledge on the subject made the class very easy to follow and become apart of. don't fail to take advantage of a young teacher who's easy to talk to, and still has the passion to make the class interesting.
He is very helpful, even though he is young he knows what he is talking about. His youth really helps his teaching because he makes it fun and easy to understand. He relates to us as students and as peers. His class was not easy because he expects a lot, but what he expects is definitely fair. All his tests are fair. An A is definitely achievable.
Definitely one of the best professors I've ever had. I took him during the summer. He would give you the test questions ahead of time but it's still not easy. You can get an A but you can also easily fail if you don't put in the work. I've learned a lot.
Helpful and fair!
Professor Mack is one of the best professors at GCC. He's really helpful and so enthusiastic about history that you can't help but listen when he lectures. He's also super young so he really connects with his students. However beware: he is not an easy A. You will have to work for your grade because his expectations are very high.
I'm only 2 weeks into he course so I don't know how the grading is. But he is so hot. Seriously. Very. Very. Hot!!! 926838 chili peppers for you Kevin Mack
He is very HOT!!! but don't be fooled by his hotness :P :D he's tough. Not an easy A class, but If you work hard, its duable.
He's young and fun. The class isn't boring, so time passes by really fast. He's very young so take advantage of that and don't hesitate to ask for help. Too much reading, and his exams are all essay questionsdefining terms. Not an easy A, but doable.
He's awesome! Loved the class, and I would definitely take him again. He made the class fun and interesting.
Took his winter class. He is definitely one of the best professors I've had at GCC. It is NOT an Easy A, so if you're lazy, don't bother. You actually have to do college work, IN COLLEGE. He makes learning history exciting and his passion for teaching really encourages you to try your best. He's really helpful, so don't be afraid to ask questions!
He was a great teacher and enthusiastic with the way he taught. His entire class is based on group work everyday. It's assigned groups and same group the whole semester, however if you don't mind working with others this class is for you. Work hard and get an A. He also gives test questions a couple days before the test day.
I had him for spring and while he was awesome and passionate, HES NOT AN EASY A. I really enjoyed his lectures. They're not boring. He's actually really funny. He's so hipster too! I hated the group projects we had everyday but there's no way to not pass his exams. No excuse because he gives it to you a week in advance. Recommend him!! Cutie too.
He is an amazing professor and always makes his lectures as interesting as possible. He will give you the test before you take it to study, just make sure you keep up with the reading, it's a lot. He's also very attractive which doesn't hurt either. Overall 10/10 would take more of his classes.
Kevin is super good looking! I had a major crush on him all semester. Yes, you have to do a lot of reading but if you do all the reading it's an easy A. Also he gives you the test in advance which is great!
Great professor who ultimately cares about his students and their success. Epic lectures, Mack has very unique style to teaching history ,and his essay-heavy exams force you to not just memorize facts, dates, names etc.. but to actually identify progress and transition throughout time. Also a hilarious and chill teacher who can relate well.
If you're a history major, definitely take this class, because Kevin Mack is funny and passionate, and you WILL learn. If you're not, beware. His tests are the hardest I've had so far. His expectations while grading are very high, especially considering most of us took the class as a GE. Also, attendance is 17%, but thats actually a good thing.
Professor Mack has is a great teacher who will help you get that good grade. He is passionate when he teaches and gives good lectures. You must read and pay attention, and really learn the material because it is free response tests. However if you put in the effort, and get his feedback you will get the good grade easily. Very fun class
great professor class isn't easy but if you're in class, pay attention and prepare for his tests an A is very possible. he gives you the test questions prior to the test but they're all free response and he's very specific with what he wants you to write. he's very funny and lively. i highly recommend him.
He is amazing ! He's funny, very intelligent, and will answer any questions you have. He gives you the tests beforehand but beware they are really long! So you'll have to prepare for it the whole weekend before. There is a quiz every other day, online, so you have to do the readings. The group work is honestly better b/c the questions are tough.
Mack is a very understanding teacher. He does offer to help a lot. If you want a quick answer to an email him early morning he will reply within minutes! His lecture technique is different from other professors that I've taken in the past. He prefers to do things in groups. As for test they are essays questions.
A great professor and, if possible, an even better person. If anyone should be a full time professor here, it's definitely him. Empathetic, a unique orator, organized, and clear as can be, learning history doesn't get any more engaging and animated than this.
Professor Mack makes History interesting! He's goofy and energetic, making his subject matter relevant and funny to learn. He's happy to slow down or clarify for students who need help. Class participation, reading, and studying is super important. He gives great feedback on tests and homework. Overall, he's an excellent teacher! 10/10!
Kevin was the most difficult and amazing teacher. You will have to memorize a lot of terms but if you split the terms with a study group you will avoid stress and save time! i learned a lot and you have to work for an A. don't take him if you want something easy he is very hot and so interesting!!
He's the best history teacher I've ever had. You will get the grade you work for.
Kevin Mack is a great teacher that keeps you interested. You have to work hard in the class if you want an A, but it is doable if you do all your work and study.
He's a great professor. Seriously take his class. The homework is reading and group projects are in class. He's funny he has a ton of energy. Class is never boring with him. He emails back quickly, and he takes the time to memorize everyones name. Best professor I've ever had
Professor Mack is your best choice when choosing a History professor. He really emphasizes on group work and applying our US history to current events. His tests are all short answer and essay format. It may seem difficult at first, but if you put it in the work and do the readings; it'll all be worth it. Also, he's super enthusiastic about history
He's a really great History professor. Professor Mack really knows his history and is super enthusiastic about history. You can really tell with all his energy when he gives his lectures. My number one tip to you, if decide to take him, which you should do... is make sure you do the readings every night because ALL the tests are essays!
Professor Mack is hands down one of the best profs I've had! Def recommend him for students who are looking for a caring, enthusiastic prof who really cares about what they do!! He is always there to offer help and make sure everyone succeeds. Also, he posts his lectures online just in case you miss a class. Would take again in a heartbeat.
This teacher was honestly horrible. He teaches fairly well, but when it comes to tests, he grades it so tough and gives so many low scores that practically the whole class complains. Very aweful test grader. This is a GE class, and he made it harder than my major class. AVOID TAKING THIS TEACHER. There are way better teachers out than him. Horible.
History's not my favorite, but Mack makes it interesting. Definitely not an easy A class, so if that's what you're looking for, don't take him. A lot of reading and the tests/final are pretty difficult. The good thing is he gives it ahead of time, a class before, so you can prep for it. Too much reading when you have other classes to worry about.
He is extremely tough when it comes to grading, however because you get the test ahead if time it makes it easier to pass. He makes history extremely interesting and fun, he connects with students because he's fairly young. Always came to work energetic and being able to meet with him for office hours is really easy. READ THE TEXT BOOK AND SOURCES
This guy is literally the G.O.A.T when it comes to teaching History. Perfect combo of Lecture and readings, he makes history so much more fun with his enthusiasm towards the subject. Definitely recommend to History majors!!
Kevin Mack is extremely attractive. He is very fit and knows how to dress well which makes it easy on the eyes. Don't let his good looks distract you though he is a tough grader. His lectures are interesting and easy to understand. Kev is super energetic and always open for questions.
THE BEST! and gorgeous!
Honestly, he goes based off of a points system. He expects you to memorize the entire exam and even if you do he will grade it toughly which is understandable considering he gives us the exam. But memorizing 3 -4 essays plus 10 key terms in which he wants you to define in detail in paragraph length. He did not use a legit textbook either.
Honestly he is one of the best professors I have ever had. If you are planning on taking his class then know that there will be no multiple choice tests, its all essay questions. If you show up to class, take notes, and study the notes, you will get an A or B. That is what I did and I ended up getting a B. (FYI he makes the class fun & his HOT)
Kevin is a young teacher so he know how to connect with his students. His test are extremely hard but you get the exact test the class meeting before, on test day he randomly picks in front of you whats going to be on it. He makes you read the text book and other sources before every class then you do a short assignment (5 min tops) on moodle
A lot of reading is given for the homework assignments. He literally tells you what to study for the tests. He is a very tough grader and expects you to memorize 4 essays and 8 terms per test, yet you only end up writing 2 essays and 5 or 6 terms. Grades you off of 3 tests, a final exam, 9 quizzes, and projects given during class. Has White guilt.
Professor Mack is friendly and easy to talk to. His tests are given in advance however you will need to study hard to satisfy what he asks of you on the terms and essays in order for you to get a better grade. I feel that students shouldn't take his class lightly.
Hardest professor ever. Young and arrogant, and never gives full credit (not only me, but the whole class). If you're majoring anything but history, try to avoid this guy otherwise watch your GPA suffer.
First of all he has attitude problems, he puts up an act that he's "caring". He gives the study guide a week prior to the test but this was still not helpful because he is such a tough grader. The tests are all essay and he looks for details that he never lectures in class about. If you want to throw your gpa away then take his class.
Mack's a great teacher. He is a tough grader, but if you do the readings and ask questions you will succeed in his class. The tests are hard, but just ask him exactly what he wants and he will tell you. If you do not read, you will not succeed. READ THE BOOK! Take notes! The tests will hurt your hands. BLISTAS ON YOUR FINGAS. He's also GORGEOUS.
Please don't take him. There will be lots of homework and reading. There are so many BETTER professors than Kevin Mack. I regretted taking his 118 hist class. He is caring, but the grade is more important than anything else. He is a tough grader. Ready to spend hours and hours reading papers and textbooks and preparing the exam. NEVER RECOMMENDED.
He is the hardest professor ever. He never gives full credit. If you care about your GPA, don't ever take him. I already watched my GPA suffer. I tried my best and spent 3-4 hours a day, ended up with a B. Trust me, never ever take him. I USED to love history(US History, World History, ETC), but he literally made me hate the history.
You have to do all the reading to fully grasp the lectures and answer all assessments. It didn't really matter if you did good on the individual quizes as long as your group did well on the projects. The professor knows his material and can answer almost all questions about the subject! It was worth it taking the class!
beware of what he saying about all points adding up so you can pass. i took this class twice and he does not give you enough time for essay questions. i know better online professors that do not grade so hard because they want us to pass. i do not recommend taking him. don't waste your time.
Kevin is an amazing professor. his test can be difficult, but if you do all the reading, take notes, answer the agenda questions, and prep your essays you'll do fine. This class wasn't easy, you want that A you have to work for it. He is extremely caring and willing to help students who ask for help. He is so beautiful, it makes the class better.
Look. Trust me. Avoid this guy. That is all I can say. There are tons of better history professors out there at GCC.
He's a real history-majors-professor. If you're a STEM major and are taking this class for a GE, don't even bother taking him because you won't appreciate his gifts. His class is basically an honors course - very challenging but very rewarding. He's a good story teller and breathes life into history. If you're into that, take him, if not, then dont
One of the Best Teachers I've encountered. Class was serious but casual. We laughed a lot. I remember him saying something like- people who are really into history, dont get hung up on dates! HE GIVES YOU THE TEST TO STUDY AHEAD OF TIME! You still need to be sharp and specific on the test and participate in class. Lazy students will not do well.
He gives test ahead of time, so go and talk to him about what he expects on the test. If he assigns papers, try to get them done as soon as possible so you can get feedback for a better grade. if you want the A you have to work for it. he's not about dates and people, he is about understanding why events happened.
Cool, young, lively person, even outside of class. Makes you smile often, and presents tons of information in an accessible, easy, interesting way. History isn't my favorite subject by far, but by the end of class, I had a better understanding on how our country had shaped. Totally worth taking him. Expectations are clear, tests are 100% writing.
He is so enthusiastic about what he is teaching that you learn so much without even realizing it. However, the tests are all written and they are graded very meticulously. My advice: if you're just taking this for a GE or easy A you're definitely going to be putting a lot of time and effort into this class.
Concept based tests. Test given prior to test day, all of which is free response. If you're good at writing and explaining concepts then this guys tests are easy breezy. Doesn't care about dates, only about relativity behind events and their impacts. Pretty straightforward. Use book to define terms and find info for essay Q's. Simple
Took him in summer. Very memorable class, lots of group work, participation matters, read the book, (which is a very fun read) The tests are all writing. group tests are multiple choice. keep up to date with the readings to pass the group tests. understand the key concepts and details of history to pass the writing exams. Do the work, get an A
I wouldn't recommend him to my worst enemy. Way overrated (trust). He's too loud. Boring lectures. Activities are a drag. If you're willing to slave yourself to memorizing an unreasonable amount terms & concepts just to maintain a C then take him. Also, he talks about himself A LOT and I mean A LOT (even when the class is over). Bad experience.
This professor is a challenge and will make you work for a good grade. You have to read a lot but clearly it shouldnt be a surprise since its a history class. If you want to pass, talk to him during his office hours and he will help you. Theres no excuse unless your lazy and expect an A ( ur not gonna get it if u dont read) ... tests are essay
He is changing the teaching game at GCC. I wish all professors were as dedicated to their craft as he is.
He focused more on the impact of historical events instead of memorizing dates. I never read the textbook but I went to his office hours! The tests were 20 questions and 2 essays (the essay questions were posted beforehand). The final was 4 essay questions that we got to pick in class from essay questions from previous essays. Hands down amazing.
Kevin Mack is a good professor. He is funny, intelligent and always ready to help. However, to get an easy A in his class is impossible. You really have to study and do readings for exams. If you want an easy A, it is definitely not this Professor. If u want to hear amazing lectures about history, take him.
I took this professor and dedicated every day to reading. You cant read once and expect to understand it. He is a tough grader but I have learned a lot throughout his class. The essays are given like 4-5 days before so theres no excuse why you could fail. I got an A becuz I fully read and studied my butt off. Do the work and dont be lazy.
He is a very good professor and he explains the concepts easily to his students. He really cares about your progress in class and he is ready to help you with all the questions. He is also funny and nice to the students. One of the best
Professor Kevin Mack is literally my favorite professor! It's my first year and his class was always one I looked forward to. His lectures were always so interesting and class was funny! The schedule was given at the beginning and the homework was mainly reading. Overall, great class. Highly recommend !
Amazing professor!!!! He's very caring and wants students to learn. He makes you want to major in History. I took his class over summer and I would definitely take him again. I got lazy towards the end of the class and got a B. But if you put in the work, you'll defintely get an A.
A truly amazing professor, he is one of the most funniest professor I had. His lectures are very easy to follow, just be aware of his module quizzes they are a little challenging but you work in groups for them. Gives you the essays prompts a week ahead of his test so there is no reason to fail his tests.
Loved his lectures. Very passionate about his work, he offers extra credit just for coming to talk to him during office hours. A hilarious guy that genuinely cares about his students and wants to help them pass.
tests will be based on slideshow lectures so you must show up to do well. Makes history not boring. If you are a Republican frustrated with proffs and how they teach history, he'll annoy you a bit but in the long term respects your opinion and you'll get to share your ideas during debates. Lastly, take advantage of the essay rewrites, up to 100%
Prof Mack is an AMAZING guy. Really fun class, really cool guy. He's really clear about what he wants. As long as you read & pay take notes of his lectures you'll get an easy A. Textbook is free! Highly recommend taking his class. He gives a good amount of work in class but not a problem. He's really helpful. Have to work just a little but worth it
Prof Mack was an amazing teacher. Really makes an effort in making his class interesting. I was so happy I took Prof Mack's class! He's straight forward, tells you how to get an A. Essays can be rewritten and he's truly there to help. Checks his email frequently and will get back to you if you need assistance.
Mr Mack is a star professor! I only took History for GE & felt nervous about it. Mr Mack makes the subject come to life with lively lectures , art & debates. He is smart, inspirational and passionate! I got A & thoroughly enjoyed the class. FYI he tests via essays which was good for me but may be changing if your not good at writing English.
He really tries to make the class important. The class is about the Vietnam war. hey, it happened and finished. Don't make it such a big deal. You think the class is easy at first then he hist you with an essay every other week and he barely gives feed back and his office hour dont really help either.
BEST HISTORY PROFESSOR!! He makes the class very interesting and it makes you want to learn more. I seriously thought about changing my major to history after this class. Take him, you won't regret it.
Thinks he's chill because he swears in class. Looks for unrealistic level of detail with amount of time given for in-class group projects. Online essay(ish) homework is graded really hard. I feel like I need to go way beyond a couple paragraphs to cover the bases & still receive a low A or high B. Over the top with his grading. Take someone else.
I've only heard good things about him so I decided to take his 135 class about the Vietnam war. Turns out this was the biggest mistake; he gives us very vague topics for essays that we have to do every week and on top of that he barely gives us feedback even during his office hours.
Lectures give no information, he gives no feedback, and he does not care about his students.
Professor Mack cares about what he teaches. His Vietnam War class was very interesting and he did his best keeping his biases to himself while also discussing different perspectives. Theres an essay every other week but your always given a chance to submit them for a better grade. Sometimes his assignments can be vague, but he is well-intentioned.
Would fail students even after answering the topics on essays. It's a great class if you wanna tank your GPA.
I would have enjoyed his class if I didn't have to spend hours making essay outlines for each of his tests. It takes ridiculously more time to prep for than other classes. He makes you write 4 in class essays for the final...4. He gives good knowledge on the subject and I value his opinions but the structure of the class makes it frustrating.
Kevin Mack is Honestly a good professor! His tests are fairly simple since they have a multiple choice & essay portion. He normally gives 20 questions on the muliptle choice & makes you write 2 essays. He gives extra credit opportunities & makes the class interesting with his lectures. He cares about his students passing. I recommend taking him!
One of the few professors that truly cares about your well-being of not only being a student, but of your life outside of class. You have to put in effort to receive a desirable grade. Hes always accessible, to answer your questions or chit chat during his office hours. Textbook is used, but he provides you with a free link to access it.
Kevin Mack is a very knowledgeable, smart, hard-working, fair, caring and nice professor! I learned so much and improved my writing skills due to his class. Honestly, I think he is too good for a community college.
I was in the honors part of the class so I had extra more work to do. Nevertheless, he's a really easy and simple teacher that made the lectures enjoyable. If you want an A in his class, I HIGHLY suggest actually reading the textbook chapters he assigns before the class meeting. His tests are extremely easy.
Professor Mack was a great professor. He presented the material with enthusiasm and made coming to class enjoyable. Assignment readings were critical to knowing the material. But if you take good notes during lecture you'll make up for the reading.
I really enjoyed this professors class. However I wouldnt recommend taking this class in 5 weeks like I did, there was a lot of reading and writing in such a short period of time. I think during COVID times his expectations for us to write a good essay are too high. You have to write 5 essays for ur final which is a lot with barely enough time.
he is teaching history in different way , docent care about date & numbers more like critical thinking , book is on line but you need to be participate if you want to pass, every week quiz from chapter and 3 test among weekly discussion and replying to participant not with good job and etc you really need to read and reply, over all cool .
I took him for Fall 2020 on zoom freshman year. Overall it was a fun experience I really learned a lot during half the time I was paying attention, to be honest, there is a lot of reading you must do and background knowledge will help you extraordinarily. Just take good notes honestly and follow along to be able to do good on the tests.
Took him over Winter and he was awesome. The class is information heavy, but no memorizing dates. Take good notes and just pay attention. Reading the material before class helps a lot. He gives group quizzes during class and analysis of primary sources. No homework except reading. Tests were easy but tough grader on the essays. Easy class overall.
Took him over the winter and had no regrets. He is entertaining while teaching and has a great personality. The tests are standard but there is a lot of essays. I recommend writing all essays before the test day. Although there is a lot of writing he isn't a tough grader on essays in my opinion.
Currently taking this professor right now! He's always there to answer any questions you have. This class is both fun and entertaining. I know history fun, crazy right? but possible definitely would recommend. ^-^
Kevin is an amazing professor! This class will allow you to think critically and with a new perspective on the challenges we face today based on the historical knowledge you gain in this class. Lots of essays 3 for each test (so 9 total) and 5 for the final. Even though there is a lot of work this class is so worth it. Highly recommend!
I took Kevin's HIST 117 course during the Spring 2021. Although lectures were all on Zoom, he kept the class engaged. He is a great lecturer and is open to discuss any opinion.
I took HIST 117 and 118 with Prof Mack and he is 100% my favorite professor at GCC. He makes class super interesting and obviously cares about the stuff he is teaching. Tests are hard and he is a tough grader, but if you take notes and participate in class you should get an A.
Just a cool guy honestly, very chill and wants you to succeed.
Had him for 118 and 135 and he's absolutely amazing. Not only is he incredibly understanding and lenient, but he has amazing lectures and class dialogue that really expand your horizons. He doesnt take himself too seriously whilst also being a great professor who teaches his content beautifully. Would no doubt take again.
Professor Mack is a historian's history professor. If you are expecting this to be like high school where you just show up and pass then welcome to college. I can not recommend a better American History professor at GCC. If you do the reading, participate in class, and ASK for feedback you will get an A.
Great lectures considering the online format, is an understanding professor as long as you communicate any concerns, grades fairly, reasonable workload, also he's just a cool guy to be around.
Professor Mack is amazing! Weekly discussions require reading the textbook but aren't too difficult. He's extremely understanding if you ask for an extension on a discussion and he also doesn't grade too harshly. Tests were pretty time consuming however he gave a week to complete it and if you manage your time, you'll be perfectly fine.
Mack is a good professor that cares about his students' success. Just be sure to do a lot of reading. Tests require you to define key terms and explain their importance. Be ready to write a short essay answer. Tests are posted about a week in advance, but the key terms and essay question will be randomly selected, so look out for that.
An incredibly talented historian and a pretty engaging professor. Determined to challenge/intellectually stimulate his students -- whether that's a good thing or not is entirely up to you. Almost all assignments were handwritten and essay-based, including in-class analyses and tests. Provides the tests about a week prior to the exam date.
Professor Mack is awesome, and one of the best at GCC. The class is chill, just group projects and quizzes every week (I had it once a week on my schedule). he understands if you have an emergency, but you gotta really get the material down before the exams because there are no easy points there.
Tough class that will have you needing to read through the textbook and think before hand about how to tackle the test. Best advice I can offer is to just talk with him about what you'd like to do on the test and ask for clarification when needed. Extremely understanding, grade is heavy on tests but is extremely helpful if you just ask about them.
Kevin Mack might be my favorite professor of all time. He is by far the only person who has taught me history in a way that can keep my attention. Every lecture has helped me understand the world better and helped me do great on Quizzes/Tests. He never gets boring to listen to and is always kind to speak with. FJ :)
This professor gives a lot reading, but nothing crazy. Quizzes each week, based off the reading. He's picky when grading the midterm and final. I didn't like the groups he put me in. He's easy to talk to when you have questions. Overall enjoyed the class :)
Amazing Professor, get ready to read though. His lectures are very interactive and enjoyable and overall the reflections at the end of every class are fairly simple. If you need to take a Philosophy class I highly recommend.
Mack's HIS117 class has a good balance of reading, quizzes, and exams. The tests can be challenging, but he's understanding if you need help. unstuck study and the textbook are great study aids.
He's just nice, and he doesn't expect you to know everything perfectly. Do the reading and listen to him in class and it's hard not to get an A.
Easily the best professor and teacher I've had in my life. As someone who participates in his philosophy and history courses he is very communicative and easy to talk with, as well as incredibly chill and charismatic. Grading system is fair and not much is asked of the students. Will be taking more classes with him, Professor Mack a dawg fr - Cade
I had Kev for US History and enjoyed the class so much I took Philosophy 121 with him later! Philosophy isn't a subject I considered before, but he's so engaging, funny, and interested in hearing everyone's thoughts and discussing; I couldn't help but love both classes! If I can, I totally will take another one of his classes in the future!
