Great class, lots of fun, really clear, learned lots. Take a class from him if possible
He likes to hear himself talk and tells some strange stories as he goes. He always covers the material in great detail. His tests are fair and predictable. He needs to stay because he makes even the most boring material fun.
Entertaining proffessor, says "mmmKay" alot, reminds me of a non-gay Mr. Garrison from south park. Take his class but hope for good sports score that season... marking scheme correlates to scores of his teams.
I took this class not really wanting to be in it, but Kevin did his best to try and teach the materials... and even though it all seems overwhelming he helps you get through it. Going to class regularily definatly helps!
Really good teacher!! Makes everything even the most seemingly boring materials interesting. He's funny and drinks a lot of coffee. Take a class with him if you can!
I've taken more classes with Kevin than i will admitt, he is an excellent and stimulating professor. He cracks jokes, and makes materials fun and interesting. Even if you arent interested in the topic, you'll find it interesting the way he teaches.
This is what a prof should be like. I STRONGLY recommend him!! He knows his stuff, and he has fantastic stories. He's VERY friendly, and makes class a breeze. I am taking two courses with him this summer! If you're trying to decide, STOP! Just take the course with him...you will not regret it.
AMAZING prof! He is hilarious and just all around a good guy. Every time I see him I want to give him a big hug! He makes his classes interesting and just probably one of the best prof's I have ever had. Strongly recommended.
I have had kevin several times and he is an excellent prof. Very funny, personable and encourages the class to particiapte.
Excellent prof., makes the class fun and interesting. I recommend this course with him instead of with Dr. MacKay.
Took this class as a GLER and got an A so I'm happy. I wouldn't say its an easy class but Kevin makes it interesting and even pretty cool. Take arky from Kevin though or it could get a little dry. Kevin's fair and he's on the students side which is nice. P.S. If you want to ace the exams just go to the textbooks' website for answers.
He is a students teacher, funny, approachable, fair and really nice. I'm gonna take his arky class just cause of him, its a shame he doesent teach more history classes, 2001 is an great class Kevin made it my favorite of all I've taken so far
Awesome teacher! Great personality that made you want to come to class and always gave the marks that you deserved. Is easy to talk to, very helpful and always has a smile on his face. Easily my favorite prof.
Amazing prof. I've had him for lib-ed 1000, 2000, and arky 1000. Never a dull moment, even when the material is. You can talk to him about anything, and he's easily my favorite prof in all of Lethbridge. Take one of his classes if for no other reason than to hear him talk for a semester.
one of my favorite profs, very enthusiastic and loves what he does. funny guy and very helpful.
Easily my favorite prof so far. Makes you interested in the material, and no one enjoys his classes more than him! Phenomenal prof, fun guy, and no tricks to his tests. Listen to his lectures, read the texts, you're golden!
exceptional prof. definetly my fovorite so far, very easy to follow and stays with the slides well
very good prof, his class was one that i would look forward to going to every day. with his lectures, he keeps you interested by being very upbeat and vibrant, he also added humour, but made it related to the topic so we still covered the material on time. excellent class, would reccomend to anyone.
Kevin is a great Prof. and is very good at explaining concepts. He makes class interesting with stories of his experiences. He gives out study sheets for his exams and is helpful with after class help.
Very interesting teacher. I found his exams hard, you didn't really know what information to study. One test will be mostly on textbook and other on lecture notes. 3 midterms! I really did not like the text book, not good at clarifying. Overall enjoyed this class
Awesome prof, awesome class. Kevin was always very helpful, and was open in inviting students to go to him to talk more in depth about topics. The midterms covered a lot of material, but the sources assignment and in class essay were an easy way to get marks. Great class, highly recommended.
I found the material really interesting but the tests were very hard. I never knew exactly what to study. I went to a few of Sean's classes and found them more interesting and many people found her easier to understand what was being tested on and understood concepts better.
Best prof ever! I wasn't really sure if I would like archaeology that much, but after listening to Kevin, he makes you want to major in it (especially field archaeology) ;) Take his class, you won't regret it.
took course for GLER, ended up being my favorite of the semester. Great, valuable lectures, and a stand-up guy.
Kevin is an amazing proff. He is organized and fun. He makes you want to listen in class by keeping it light. The tests are hard, but if you are interested then you will get through. The workload is very very light. This has been my favourite class so far.
tests were not hard at all, if you studied what was required (notes AND textbook- he put study guides for the text online), lectures were of exceptional interest, and Kevin was always a gentleman when approached. Reasonable workload to get an A as I did.
Awesome instructor! Clear, concise, very helpful and kept students interested in material. Tests were incredibly easy if you actually put an hour or two into studying (definition based tests on WebCT). I studied the day of the final and still got an a+. Recommend to everyone-Take and you will NOT regret!I can't wait to take another class with him.
Great prof! Archy 1000 is a great science course to take which doesn't have a lab and it's a great GPA booster. The classes are also very fun (can get a little dry at times) but he always loves to crack some jokes and is a pretty funny guy in general. Tests aren't too bad if you put a bit of effort in and the final is very easy :)
Excellent prof! Take this as a good GPA booster. He's a funny guy and really tries hard to make some of the more boring subjects somewhat bearable. His tests are also pretty easy if you put a bit of work in, and his final exam (which is in essay format) is super easy. Definetely recommend this prof for any first year student (or any student really)
Kevin is a great Prof, he really interacts with his students well and his lectures are quite interesting. You do need to do the readings to get a good mark. He does expect more of his higher classes like a 20 page paper but he is a really fair marker and is really helpful is his comments. Great guy that loves his work
Great Prof! Very Helpful, clear speaker, makes all of his courses interesting. You need to devote alot of time when you reach the higher levels to get a good mark.. but that is that way it should be! I haven't met anyone who has anything bad to say about Kevin!
Will make you work for every percent that he gives you. But he is so epic and entertaining that he makes you not mind. Possibly the funniest prof on campus.. makes the driest of topics entertaining. Awesome rants about everything from egyptian archaeologists to his wife not letting him eat halloween candy :)
So cool!!!! This guy is great! I actually wanted to go to his lectures because he makes them pretty fun and tries his best to make the boring topics at least slightly bearable. Tests are okay if you put the work in, the textbook is actually good to use. Definitely recommended!
LOVE KEVIN. Amazing prof. Wants you to succeed not only in his class but at university and in life in general. Funny, charismatic, just fantastic. Loved listening to him talk and am so disappointed I can't take another class with him. TAKE HIS CLASS IF YOU CAN!
Kevin is an excellent instructor. He is very approachable and helpful, and he always makes his lectures interesting and easy to listen to. I feel very priveleged to have had him as a professor, easily the best professor I have ever had for any class. Brilliant, funny, kind guy... And very attractive in my opinion! Gorgeous blue eyes!
Kevin is one of the most amazing people I have ever met. he makes this class so interesting and easy. I changed my major because of him. He is extremely helpful and always has time for one on one help. The best prof I have had!
Kevin is an excellent prof. If you are going to take ARKY, take it with him, you will not regret it. He is very helpful outside of class and gives very clear explanations of what you need to know for the tests. You DO have to read the textbook though (for the tests), but even if you just skim it, you should be fine. Highly recommended.
Makes the material interesting even when it seems boring. Loves the sound of his own voice, but I'm not complaining :) you can get decent marks if you read the textbook and pay attention in class, sometimes the multiple choice questions can be tricky. Hot in an old guy way. Love the suits.
Kevin was great. He's seriously so funny. The course was decent.. slides are posted online but brief.. you really need to attend class to fully get what he's saying. The textbook was SO dry, but useful. He's great at responding to emails and is genuine in wanting everyone to succeed. I'd take a class with him again in the future for sure.
Kevin was so great. very helpful when you had questions. lots of availabilty for help. set up study groups with his TA's. Tests were easy if you took the time to study and do large amounts of memorization. Tests were a LARGE component of this class.
Second class I have taken with him and I love him. Very hard marker but is always willing to go over everything with you. Makes lots of jokes and ties things to modern pop culture? He is my favorite prof in the entire school. His slides are full of pictures with little word though but he posts everything on moodle
One of the best here. He can come across, and will admit to, being "mean" but he actually cares a great deal about his students. He's a tough marker but he expects the best from you. He'll point out the bad instead of the good, but there's a method to his madness. Follow his instructions and ask for help if you need it and you'll do fine.
Amazing prof. Class was so fun with him, and I have no real interest in the subject. Learned a lot! Gives study guides and with a bit of effort, getting good grades on the test is not hard. Definitely recommend to everyone, even those who are just taking the class to fill GLERS.
Kevin is hilarious. He makes the intro class so interesting you'll want to take a lot more with him. The tests are totally fair, and if you go to class and skim the readings you'll have no trouble on the exams.
He is a blast. Makes learning a very strange and difficult class a blast. He likes to "pin" people against each other in class but it made everything fun and made some real friends from it. I will gladly take any class he teaches.
Kevin is such a funny guy, and really friendly! Makes every lecture enjoyable even when the topics were dry. He always wants his students to succeed. He is truly a great teacher. I found his texts difficult because there was a lot of random info on the test that wouldn't seem important to study. Overall, great guy and a sick prof!
Great professor. You will need to pay attention to what he says in class. Fair grader, he is very open and will provide help as long as you ask for it. Would recommend the class as long as you're willing to put in the effort.
One of the best profs I've ever had
Not only is Kevin a brilliant man, but he is a very skilled teacher and speaker. He is very good at making students feel comfortable enough to speak up in PE250, which made the class less rigid. Great teacher, motivator, and speaker; I highly recommend you take at least one class with him.
I made the mistake of not reading my textbook and so I received a very low grade, however from my fellow peers it seems to be that if you read the textbook and attend class you're pretty much golden. Kevin is a fun and interesting professor, he makes class interesting. Archaeology just wasn't my thing! I recommend if you take it, take it with him.
Best class I had last semester. I actually liked him more than any of my own department's professors. He is clear in class, tests are fair and he is easy to talk to. Also answers his emails pretty fast (within 5 minutes sometimes) so he is good with extra help. I will be taking more classes with him
Kevin was awesome! I appreciated his enthusiasm about what he taught and he was able to make the material interesting. I enjoyed being in his class and I hope to take future classes with him!
Kevin is great, but this was not the easy 1000 level class that I was hoping for. Test questions are very specific and require that you have attended the lectures and read the textbook. Textbook chapters are EXTREMELY long and took me 2-3 hours each to read. Wouldn't recommend taking this class unless you are prepared to work hard.
His lectures are interesting if you like the topic of the class. I like how the grade is supplemented by quiz since the paper is so large. His comments are illegible so if you want to know what it says you have to go talk to him so I don't know why he bothers to write them at all.
Kevin is a great prof, but his lectures are boring. His tests are super detailed and involves a lot of work. I would not recommend taking this class as a gler. It is not an gpa booster. However, if you are interested in the material you could do well in the class.
don't let his humorous lectures fool you, he is the hardest marker i have ever met. I was excited about this course and he managed to turn it to a chore to do. He tests things he will only mention in passing and the things that actually seem important he won't ask you on tests. I'll be happy if i even just pass this course. WILL NEVER TAKE AGAIN!
Kevin is enthusiastic and keeps things interesting. His tests were not cumulative, but they did require you to read the case studies in the text book which is terrible if you wait until the day before the test to read it (his tests were on moodle and all multiple choice). Good intro class, not sure why everyone is complaining. Keep up in your text.
I liked the class and found it very interesting. The in class movies were very interesting
Kevin was helpful, funny, and engaging. The tests were VERY hard, so do not expect this to be an "easy" GLER course. You have to work hard for a good mark. But the things you learn in this class are very interesting and will apply to many other things you will study in university. Sources assignment and final essay are grade-boosters, thankfully.
Kevin is a beautiful soul that can make carbon dating seem interesting. Lectures are a MUST as the powerpoints he uses usually only have 5 words on them. Showing up for lectures and taking good notes is an easy pass. Reading the textbook is an easy A.
Kevin is a fair but firm marker. Expectations were clear and he provided guides to help you study for quizzes. He gives great feedback that will help with other courses.. his writing can be difficult to read but if you take the time to go see him he will help you out and clarify things.. I definitely recommend and will take more classes from him!
kevin mcgeough is truly the voice of this generation of students. the guy is hilarious and super flexible with the class. he pays attention to the students needs and he instructs accordingly.
Kevin is a great guy. He's very engaging, and even though I found his lectures a little tough to follow in the first few classes, I quickly adapted to his teaching style and find it to be very helpful. He is quick to offer feedback and is flexible with all learning styles. He is cognizant of student needs and is always very fun and light-hearted.
Kevin is so funny. He makes this class so interesting and he has so many cool stories from his digs. The textbook is really dull, but you will need to use it. Take detailed notes because the slides barely have any writing on them. It takes effort to do well, but not as much as most classes. I would definitely recommend taking a class with Kevin!
GET THE TEXTBOOK!!!!! most of the exams are about random things in the textbook and random things he says in class. He's funny but treats all his students like first years, babying them and making you learn redundant skills that you learned in high school. Was looking forward to this class... really regret taking it boring and very difficult
Best prof I've ever had. Hilarious in class, very helpful when you go to his office for essay help. I've taken all my SS GLERS from him, cause he's that good. His 3rd year classes involve one 12-20 page paper, and 2-3 midterms, not cumulative, mostly lecture material but reading the text will bring your mark up a lot. Sometimes quizzes. 10/10 prof.
Had him for ARKY 1000 and ARKY 2610 Old World Archaeology. Probably one of my favourite profs at the University.
Kevin is truly a gem. Although he is a very tough marker, he makes it clear what you need to do to pass, and he tries his best to ensure you do. Talking to him outside of class is beneficial, as he gives very constructive criticism on specific papers and tests.
Don't take if you are an english major and archaeology digs do not inspire you. The material is extremely dull, and the tests are extremely hard, and cover random trivia about history, so make sure you know your history! However, the prof genuinely cared about everyone, and knew how to put everyone at ease during exam taking. Way to go!
Kevin will be one of the best profs you will ever have. He cares about your overall university experience and wants all his students to succeed beyond his lecture. He posts his notes but much of the needed knowledge is verbal, so attend his lectures! Getting the textbook is also suggested and will help a lot for the midterms.
Kevin is a fantastic lecturer who always includes some element of humour to keep the class engaged and interested. He can be a tough grader but his feedback is incredibly valuable. Use his office hours if you have questions or need some clarity. He's excellent at explaining things in different ways until you can understand the material.
Dr. McGeough is a very respectable person that knows the course and is passionate about all of the material that is in the course. The lectures that McGeough gave were very insightful and all of the information was interesting from the beginning. He is very good at responding to questions, and very good at explaining all of the material
Kevin is by far the best prof I've had so far. He truly cares about his students and is super clear on what he expects. I recommend going to class because although the slides are accessible online they are usually just pictures and plus his lectures are fun. You should read the textbook if you want an A, but I never did and passed so you do you.
Kevin is a really great prof! He put tons of effort into making an online class the best it could be including virtual field trips all around Alberta! You have 7 tests and a written final. All were fair if you studied a bit. Only complaint was there was a lot of lecture material to watch, much more than if the class was in person. Otherwise awesome
Kevin was singlehandedly the BEST teacher I have ever had. He cares about indidivual students, he answers emails super fast and he makes his lectures humorous, interesting, and knowledgeable. I got a lower grade because Im lazy but it really is an easy class if you just participate. Would 100% take a class with him again.
Hes fun, informative, and fair.
I loved Kevin and would love to have another course with him in the future. Highly recommend taking his courses.
Read all these reviews before taking this class and wish I had known how much I would hate it. In general he is a fine teacher but as a 1000 level course he expects WAY too much of the students. I've taken 15 courses in Uni and this has been the worst. The tests were random things, studied for 15 hours to get a 75. Way too much reading and videos.
Kevin was a great prof and very entertaining, although his tests felt like they were composed of random topics. He provides study guides which really don't help at all and reading two chapters of the huge textbook every night also wasn't great.
This class asks a lot for a 1000 level. Lectures, Moodle videos, and textbook readings were hard to keep up with honestly. That being said, it's not impossible to do well. I would recommend NOT skipping textbook readings but don't read the whole thing front to back--focus on covering what's in the study guides. Bonus marks are available!
He is a great professor, but this class took quite a lot of my time. The tests covered lectures, the textbook, online field trips, and online lectures. The lectures are interesting, and he makes complex topics easy to understand.
Loved this class, he was an amazing professor and taught a very interesting course
Kevin is hilarious! Very approachable and non-judgmental if you need extra help understanding concepts. Grade mostly based on exams and they can be tricky! Textbook mandatory, as well as attending lecture or watching recordings as that stuff is on exams. Worth taking as an elective!
Kevin is awesome and one of my favourite profs, he is a tough grader, but you leave his class knowing the information. Attending and paying attention to the lectures is super important and if you do that the material will make sense, attendance isnt mandatory, but showing up to class is the only way anything will make sense
This guy is hilarious, and he makes sure you're engaged with questions and weekly forum posts. I really appreciate that he doesn't just read off a screen, he makes class digestible with stories and context and simple definitions for the terms we need. The downside is his slideshows are vague on their own so attendance is important. Awesome stuff!!
Very interesting class and Kevin is a very engaging and passionate professor! Provides a lot of extra sources if you are not understanding and all old covid lectures are posted if class is missed or just for review. There are weekly forum posts and virtual lectures but both are easy. Great class!
Kevin is a hard grader and expects a lot, but he pushes his students to be better (especially at writing). He is very funny and his lectures are interesting. Would definitely recommend taking a course with him.
His lectures bore me too death. I've never once in my life slept during a lecture but I remember I even dreamt while dozing off during his lecture. Very hard to fail this class. Gives us many opportunities to get a grade! Very heavy on textbook reading!!! Really liked the bonus opportunities
Kevin was very kind, helpful, and clearly an expert in his field. He made the class environment very friendly and helped break the ice whenever necessary. The best professor I've had the honor of being taught by, and I hope to join his classes in the future. His passion for his field made me feel so excited to learn that I almost switched my major.
