His class was a joy to take, and I recommend it for absolutely everybody on campus. But sign up early; his classes fill up blindingly quick.

Kevin Monroe made my experience at SWIC the most memorable. Lectures are fantastic, enriching, and are easy listening. Sign-up quickly and don't miss the opportunity to sit under his instruction!

Mr. Monroe turned me into a political junkie. He's one of the most knowledgeable and easily the most enthusiastic professor I've ever had.

I wasn't really interested in the subject beforehand, but he made me look forward to coming to class everyday & I felt like I learned a lot from him. Really nice, knowledgeable & interesting professor. Definitely take a class w/ him if you have the chance.

The only thing I can really say about Mr. Monroe Is that I would have never made it through school without him. He's not only a teacher he's an ear, a mentor and friend. You can trust him to be understanding and he will always give you a smile when you see him in the hall. I Miss being his student!

Mr. Monroe makes class entertaining and worthwhile. He is a great teacher who obviously loves teaching. Take notes, study, and you will easily pass. Tests are all multiple choice, no tricks! He's the best!

Mr Monroe is a great Professor, You will learn alot from him. He has good power point presentation. He has a MC test with 1 essay question to answer. He usually gives you 2-3 possible essays that will be on there. 1 is always on there. He does a compare and contrast on some of the questions. Take notes and you will do fine. Studay hard.

History of Religion was a really interesting class -- just a general overview of major world religions. I did not open the book once... great lecturer with use of powerpoints. You really have to study though because tests are difficult. As long as you study there is no reason you can't get an A or a B! Attendance is part of your grade though!

Awesome teacher! Very understanding also. He realizes that life happens, and he will cut you slack IF, and only if, you show interest, have an above average grade in the class and have been to class the majority of the time.

LOVE!! He has been one of the BEST teachers I have ever had. HIs tests arent really all that bad, just study over your notes. Excellent Power point notes. He really wants you to do well in his class. He tells really great/funny stories, dealing with the topic that makes your remember it. HIGHLY recommend!!!

One of the best lecturers I've ever had. There was a time ppl actually didn't want to leave even after the bell rang b/c they didn't want to have to wait until the next period to find out how a story he was telling ended. Very interesting and a genuinely nice guy. I definitely recommend taking him at LEAST once while you're at SWIC.

I believe in giving credit when it is given. His lectures were fantastic and interesting. If I like Pols at all, I would take some, however, I have no interest. Wish he would offer something I would like to take.

He's brilliant. Undoubtedly the best lecturer I have ever taken. Almost a guarantee you won't get bored. Class flies by. His tests aren't bad if you study. Look at the study guide and you'll have everything you need. If you know the study guide, you have no reason not to do well. Again, brilliant. Def should take at least once!

Monroe is a great teacher, but this post is about the particular class. American Civil War history I thought would be easy enough to get through, as I only needed it as an elective. I WAS SO WRONG! With all the battles and generals, my head was swimming, and I'm a great memorizer... don't take this if you think it will be your throw away class.

Very fun and exciting teacher the only morning glass that I did not mind getting up going to. He always kept you intrested...really nice...told a lot of stories, all which were really good and always listened to his students! def take him if you have to...I am taking another one of his classes because he is so outgoing and easy to understand!

Only decent teacher on the whole staff! I have had most of them since I m transferring in the spring to ISU. he is the only person who cares and actually wants you to learn. Not there to pick up a check. Take all of your classes with him to avoid the others if you are smart.

The best class I have taken at SWIC thus far! You learn so much and he is such a nice guy it is hard to not love his classes! No matter what religion he was talking he never seemed to favor one over another! Overall an amazing teacher!

As an adult going back to school, he was my instructor in American Government. He was inspiring,motivating, intelligent, fair and by far the best instructor I had while I was at SWIC. I encouraged my son to take a class with him and my son too was inspired. Any time I know someone attending SWIC, I encourage them to check out one of his classes.

He is by far the best teacher I have ever had! He explains everything so perfectly, however, he is not easy! This class requires studying and lots of work, but it wasn't horrible. I passed with an A. I wish I could take him for all my classes!

Good Instructor that knows his stuff. Reading the book is not good enough to get an A on the exams. The powerpoints are a must read to excell in the class. The selection of paper topics was huge. Really enjoyed the class!

Best teacher at SWIC!He is so entertaining and very funny!If you do the work your set.He lectures,thats where you get your notes,if you study the notes your good for the test.I used my book once, its not worth getting.You have to write a site visit ppr thats 10 pgs or 2,5 pg pprs,but he doesn't grade super hard.If you have the chance take his class

He's a GREAT professor, makes learning so easy. Very easy going, easy grading, all the tests are the same set up. His lectures are interesting and hilarious. Tells great stories related to history. Best Teacher at SWIC by far!

BEST PROFESSOR AT SWIC! Lectures are insightful and accurate. Uses awesome analogies, and is always willing to clarify. To pass the four tests, you do need to study a lot, but its pretty straightforward. A++++++++++++! Wonderful teacher. Genius.

One of the best teachers I have had. Keeps the subject super interesting and understandable. Never a dull class period. He is not an easy grade though you will have to study. If you want to learn an immense amount and enjoy class take Monroe. you wont forget his personality.

12 page paper due from a list of selected topics - He makes you clearly cite and requires a full 12 pages as well as page numbers and correct format. Each week 4 discussion posts (they are very easy actually) and a 10 point quiz then 4 major tests due (they were def. harder than quizzes that's for sure!) But the grade you get is what you get online

Mr.Monroe is an amazing teacher! I took his religions class and he kept his opinion out of it all which was great! He is so passionate about his subject and he makes it so interesting! DO NOT TEXT in his class..EVER! He is not easy but he makes it interesting and you will take soo much from the class. If you can take history with him DO IT!

Liked his class. Not very interesting to be considering I am a Nursing major but it was tolerable. The book is the only material you use. If you cite and do the full 12 pages of the required paper she will give you full credit and that's beyond fair! Class was not hard at all it was pretty straight forward.

Loved his class, this is the second History class of Professor Monroe's that I have taken. Very interesting and knowledge able about his topic's. Enjoys having students ask questions and actually looked up information to answer a question he did not have an answer to. Multiple choice tests with short essay.. easy.

Awesome teacher! He makes material very interesting and easy to understand. He knows his stuff and will go the extra mile to make sure his students feel confident with the material. However, you will have to study to pass, but as long as you do it is a breeze. There is a term paper too.

Mr. Monroe is the best teacher I have had at SWIC so far. He makes every class fun. He really knows what he's doing and his tests are a breeze if you use his study guide. The book is not necessary to get good grades, he will tell you everything you need to know in class.

One of the BEST teachers at SWIC!!! He is always willing to help you, and he never gives you the cold shoulder. He wants his students to understand the material. He is such a funny guy and always has a story to tell. Don't worry, he doesn't get off topic too easily. He gives the students a good idea of what to study for for his tests. Take him!!

He is very passionate about what he teaches and makes sure you get the best learning experience possible. He only tests you on what you learned in lecture (NO TEXTBOOK REQUIRED). You'll take lot's of notes but he keeps them simple

Mr. Monroe is one of my favorite professors! His lectures are interesting and they are easy to follow along with the lecture notes that are posted on blackboard. I would highly recommend him to anyone taking a history or political science class. He is funny and not intimidating, making it easy to ask questions whenever something needs cleared up.

Good teacher. 4, THOROUGH, difficult tests. Lockdown browser required. One, 12 page paper - interesting topic. Weekly discussion postings - simple, easy points. Responds promptly to emails or discussion postings of questions. Doesn't teach necessarily since it's online, but great support if needed and gives powerpoints to help. Take again.

This is by far the best class I've taken at SWIC and Mr. Monroe is the reason. What a fantastic professor! His lectures are fun and interesting. He made learning fun. I learned a ton in this class. The tests are a bit tough but if you pay attention and study you'll do just fine. You dont need the textbook. I highly recommend Mr. Monroe to everyone.

Mr. Monroe is a great professor. I am typically not one for any history class, but he made it interesting and enjoyable. His classes are typically all set up the same way: 4 tests and a paper. It is very important that you show up to class, if you don't then you will miss too much lecture and won't pass his test. I would recommend this teacher.

Mr. Monroe is a great lecturer! Very specific too on his lectures. He puts lecture notes on Blackboard and I recommend that you bring those to class and take notes on those printed sheets. Test are a bit rough (60 multiple choice and 1 essay (pick from 2 options). Gives four exams. Study the study guides too.

Best professor I ever had, made lectures very interesting. Funny in class and always in a good mood. Tests are fair and you will do well as long as you read over your notes. I have taken his HIST 180 Class, POLS 150 class, and am taking his online HIST 181 class over the summer. Would definitely recommend him.

Would not take his class online again due to the toughness of the tests. Each test is over at least 6 chapters and I studied for days for each test and still could not manage to get an A in the class. The class might be better to take at SWIC rather than online because otherwise you are completely teaching yourself.

I've been going to school for 4 years and counting and Mr. Monroe is still the best teacher I've ever had. Print out the slides and write notes through the lecture. Paying attention won't be hard because he keeps you entertained and locked in every step of the way. My only regret is that I didn't take more classes with him.

Mr. Monroe is one of the best professors I've ever had. If you want to be engaged throughout the entire class period and to actually learn something, take him. Had him for History and Political Science, loved him both times.

A great class and I learned a lot. His lectures are interesting and he is very funny. He posts his power point slides, study guides, and optional quizzes on blackboard. He has 4 tests, multiple choice and t/f with an essay that you'll have 2 topics to choose from. You need the textbook. Use the online Sage program for the book. It helped. He's good

I would not recommend taking this class online over the summer. He gave 4 tests over 6-8 chapters on each. Even with reading everything and taking notes over the study guilds the tests were still SO hard. Others noted to print his notes to bring to class and take additional notes, I can see how that would be helpful otherwise his slides are useless

This teacher is very passionate about the subject he teachers. He made me love history in his class. Very enthusiastic and tells a lot of jokes! You will want to write down as many notes as you can and don't miss class! Can be an easy A but a lot of info to memorize! He will hint at answers to questions ;) There are essay questions on tests!

Mr. Monroe has been the highlight of my semester. His lectures are extremely clear and he is ALWAYS willing to answer questions during and after class. He is really funny and has a very engaging way of speaking. Puts slides on Blackboard, I would definitely suggest printing them out and taking notes on them! You won't regret taking his class.

Mr. Monroe is hands down the best college professor I have had so far. His lectures are fun, like I actually want to come to class because I love what he has to say and he is hilarious. His lecture notes are on blackboard, print & take them to class & you won't have to write much. Also I have a high B on every test and haven't had to use the text.

Enthusiastic, well-spoken, and caring, best teacher since grade school. I've had Monroe twice -- 1865-Present US History and History of Religion, and both were extremely rewarding and interesting courses that I was actually sad to leave at the end of the semester. Outside of one or two medium length papers, class is fun and easy to keep up with.

Dr. Monroe was unbelievably knowledgeable with seemingly crystal clear recall of even minute historical details. His lectures ranged from hilarious to moving--but always informative and understandable. Easily one of the best classes I've taken.

Mr. Monroe is the best teacher I've ever had. I'm normally not a fan of history but his lecturing skills are so amazing that he makes it very interesting to listen to. Make sure you are on time and always there because he counts attendance for points. I'm very sad this is my last class with him. He is what I think every professor should be like!

Mr. Monroe is just the best. I hate to leave his class his semester. His lectures are crystal clear but in-depth. Everything on the test is in his lecture. I've made A/B's on every test and haven't even opened my textbook yet. His notes are on blackboard, course does require one 10 page paper but no other homework.

Kevin is a great professor. His class focuses mainly on lectures, which are very entertaining with the life stories and examples he throws in. The only complaint I could possibly come up with would be the difficulty of his tests, but as long as you put some effort into studying, you should pass. Overall, great professor. Would recommend.

He's such a great teacher. Explains everything so well and stops to answer any questions if you have them. Study guides are right on target and help you pass the tests with no problem. Definitely recommend him!

Amazing lecturer, applies politics to his own life and gives really good examples, allows discussion in class, encourages questions, and the class really opened your eyes. I loved his class and will be taking more.

Me. Monroe is a great teacher. He is always on time and a constant professional. His test are based on his notes which he always kept entertaining. I would recommend anyone to take him if you can.

GREAT teacher! I have never been a history person, but he definitely made history interesting and kept me on my toes for more. Book was not required, but I would recommend the book if you are a reader. Plus one or two questions on the test come directly from the book! I highly recommend. I ten page paper or two five page papers are required.

Mr. Monroe is the best history teacher that I have ever had. He is so engaging. A typical class consists of going through slides, which he does perfectly. He is not one of those teachers that just reads the slides, he really teaches the class and does so in a fun way. You will have to write either a 10 page paper or two 5 page papers for the class.

As long as you show up and pay attention theres no way to fail his class. I hate government and he made it fun!

Professor Monroe is amazing. As someone who hates history, I have never enjoyed a class so much. If you miss class, you will not do well as everything on his test comes from the notes. He gives optional quizzes on blackboard which have test questions so you can easily get some points. I have already taken two of his classes and plan to take more.

He really tries to make the subject interesting. You can tell that he cares about what he's teaching. The homework was well spaced and totally doable with a full class load.

Hands down the best professor at Swic and one of the coolest teachers ever. To get an A in that class all you need to do is be present and take good notes. Just a good down to earth person too; the type of person you just want to talk with. Super understanding and helpful. Worth it 100%.

I have never not shown up to a lecture, or had an assignment or project from him that I didn't thoroughly enjoy to do. He makes you work for your grade but if you just show a little interest he makes it fun too. Advice; write down everything he says. 99.9% of what he says in lecture is on a test question. Super great teacher and very organized.

By far the Best professor I've met. He is funny, and still informative. Only bad habbit is he gets off on tangents alot. they are always related to class material but it can be a little confusing. Personaly I love the anicdotes. I would take any class with him again at any time. Dont mess with your phone in his class, he counts that as an absence.

Easily the best professor I have had at SWIC. I was never bored in the class, and if anyone had a question, even if we were behind, he would take the time to answer the question thoroughly. I can't express enough how interesting he was. If I could go back in time, I would take all of his classes. He is a must-take professor.

I loved Professor Monroes class. He gives clear expectations and makes sure everyone understands. As long as you take good notes on the slides AND what he verbally says, youre in good hands. I will say this class requires effort. Its worth it though, hes an amazing professor.

Great lecturer. Very detail-oriented but paying attention and taking good notes makes for a relatively easy A or B. He is funny and it is evident that he loves his job. Don't be afraid to ask questions because he loves to answer them. Pay attention to what he says over the slides. Great instructor, would take him again.

Hands down BEST teacher I have ever had. He is the funniest teacher I have ever had. He makes the material you are learning fun. He gives you the notes and great study guides. I went back and took another class with him.

Teaches everything in lecture. Had some questions from the textbook on tests, but textbook not really needed. Was an amazing man who always came to class with a positive attitude ready to teach and answer questions. He always was engaging and passionate. 12 page paper seemed daunting but was easy to write throughout the semester.

Legitimately a joy to have, and I jumped at the chance to have him a third time towards the end of my program. Extremely easy to talk to, full of anecdotes and has made every lecture interesting in some way. Very positive, cares about his students, and always comes to class with an enthusiasm that I hope to have about my own job some day.

Mr. Monroe makes history come alive. He applies heavy sarcasm and comedy to serious events. His class is graded by 4 tests, no final, and an option between 2 six paged mini papers or a single twelve page paper. The tests are easy if you pay attention in class and remember names chronologically. He will never ask date or statistic dependent question

Great professor. The tests, in my opinion, were pretty difficult. There is a giant research paper at the end of the class, but if you do the work it is pretty simple. Lots of participation.
