do your work and it should be easy, very little homework, we watch clips of the daily show and the colbert report and discuss them

study and show up to class
I walked into this class hating politics, but Kevin had made it interesting. He seems to be fair, and he's a master at arguing various sides of an issue. If you go to class, do the work and take the exams, you'll be fine.
He's nice to look at but his teaching technique is complicated. All you do is sit there & talk about the Colbert Report & other clips you watch & then when the test comes he hands out a review, YET UR LUCKY IF EVEN 1/2 THE REVIEW IS ON THE TEST! He's not fair at all when it comes to grading. B4 u take PSC w/ him make sure ur interested in the subj.
If you are not an idiot you should be fine. Take notes in class and do the little projects and the tests will be easy. Little homework. Easy class.
The class is probably too easy. Read the chapters. Participate; ask questions and attempt to answer questions. These seem to be the keys.
I loved this class. He allowed the departmental to replace a low test score. Is extremely helpful especially if he knows that you are putting forth an effort. He always allows you to voice your opinions, so take advantage of that it will help your grade, especially in the debates. Also...he is adorable!
super easy class. its all discussions, with 3 chapter assignments (no effort required to get an a on those) and one big debate and paper at the end (necessary to pass, he gets really upset if you dont do those) definitely take this prof.
Kevin is an inspirational instuctor, I recommend him to any one interested in Political Science. Those you aren't interested can still do well in the class because he's an easy grader. Just don't miss class! He makes a point to put the quote "80% of success is showing up' in the syllabus, you don't want to miss out on the easy participation points. Plus, the fact that he's a total BABE helps the semester move along smoothly.
One recommendation to Kevin: people who are passive struggle to participate in the discussions. Maybe if you had everyone write their response before beginning the discussion more people would talk. Just a thought.
I absolutely loved this class, not just because I find politics interesting, but b/c Kevin is such an amazing teacher. He is nice, down-to-earth and wise beyond his years! His teaching style is very straight forward, fair and he gives helpful study guides. If you get bored he's always good eye candy!!!
Very good educator. Knows the ins and outs of the subject. Very helpful if you ask. You are expected to become part of the discussion so read the chapters. His study guides are very helpful. Pay attention and you will be able to pull off a A.
Absolutely loved him!!!!
Tougher than I thought. He can be picky with grading, especially the exams but study guides were extremely helpful. Covers a lot of info so you really get your money's worth. You have to participate in discussion though, which isn't always easy for some. I definitely learned a lot. He's got that strong silent type thing going on that's very sexy.
Hard grader. Tests are essay format. Knows alot, expects the students to just as much. Kind of weird, attendance mandatory. A lot of homework and papers.Do not reccomend him, failed a lot of students.
Kevin has a sexy voice! I would take another class with him just to listen to him talk. He's a good instructor though; take the class!!!
good teacher very easy class
If your in love with Political Science Mr. N is the person to go to. He is by far one of the smartest teachers I know. He is very helpful and willing to work with everyone about any subject. he is well around as well if you have questions about other subjects. I took all his classes and loved each one. He is a hard grader, but your in school so dea
Kevin is awesome. He is very knowledgable, and does not put his political views out in the open like many other teachers- THANK YOU. He is not easy though- until you get into the pattern. He is willing to help, but expects a lot. Some lot of people might say he is "stupid" but that's probably because they have no knowledge of politics and expec
Perhaps one of the most intelligent faculty members at Moraine Valley. Unfortunately, some of the classes at Moraine are a joke, but they are so because of careless instructors. Mr.Navratil is a very hard-working and committed teacher and expects great things from his students. He engages his students into the importance of the Poli Sci discipline.
Great Teacher, easy class, but interesting
Tough on grading. Don't expect an A because he nitpicks and deducts points for anything. Learned a lot though!
Mr. Navratil is one of Moraine Valley's finest. His lectures are fascinating, his exams are structured to help you learn, and his attendance policy is necessary. Those of you who claim he is so "hard" will never make if anywhere in life. You expect the least out of life now, you will get nothing later. Apply yourself and quit complaining.
One of the greatest classes I have taken in a while. Mr. Navratil is an amazing prof and provides constructive feedback on assignments. I took the online class and received promt replies to all emails. He goes above and beyond when you put in the effort. The work and quizzes are beyond easy as long as you read the text. Highly recommend!
I have taken two of his online courses and they were both very interesting courses. I was surprised how much I learned.
Mr. Navratil is definitely the best professor I've ever had. He encouraged students to look at political issues from various perspectives, allowing for a greater understanding of the political system. He also taught us to read and interpret the news differently. I loved his courses so much that I am now a Political Science & Economics major at NEIU
Amazing teacher. I never liked government before and i felt like a dweeb because of how interesting he makes the class. best teacher in his field id recommend him to everyone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! all quizzes online and mostly class consists of discussions and watching interesting video clips usually from the daily show or the colbert report
He is a NICE guy, but he is incredibly disorganized, online and off. That being said, if you are interested in what is being taught, he will like you and you WILL learn alot. If you do the work and pay attention it is an easy 100%
Honestly, he was the best professor that I had while I attended Moraine Valley. He is incredibly helpful and approachable. He got me interested in the topics we discussed and certainly keeps the classes interesting. Take his class if you can.
This is a hybrid class, which is great. It is mainly on-line but it meets in-person a few times, which is very helpful. It is an interesting class and the instructor is really nice. If you do your work you will get an A.
Get ready to read not books but online articles which he will guide you through. He''ll make sure u come to class because the two papers are heavily based on what we do in class. Nothing tricky though u can even compile what u write in class as your paper. No formality needed. Helpful and very knowledgeable. Write a lot in class in computer lab.
Mr. Navratil is an awesome teacher who will try to engage you in class and really make you think about what you're learning. I enjoyed the class a lot although I skipped a couple assignments which kept me from getting an A. Go to class, participate in class, do the work and you'll learn a lot and succeed in this class. Good entry level class
I really didnt enjoy his class. If you are find with sitting in a class and hearing him lecture the whole time, then maybe this is for you. Boring. A lot of work was done, missing 1 day can hurt your grade. dont skip his class. you really have to work for a passing grade.
As long as you go to class and do the work you should be fine. Professor Navratil was very passionate about the subject and respected the students who did the work. For the most part you should have no trouble getting a B, if not an A. It may have helped me having prior knowledge of the content, but if you study well, there should be no problems.
I was surprised how much I learned in this online class. The assignments were more interesting than I expected, as we got to discuss current events and how they related to our class. I would definitely recommend this online class.
One of my faves. He's a very chill guy and loves what he does. He enjoys to debate and won't make you ever feel small or stupid. As long as you give your opinion in class, you're good. Read the chapters and you're all set.
The best professor I ever took a class with. Very helpfull. Power point presentations are extremely helpfull. Class is Jyfull :)
Honestly, best teacher ive taken at moraine. Hes helpful and understanding. all students in our class loved him. he got everyone in class engaged in discussion. didnt make the assignments dreadful or tough to understand. i highly recommend him.
this was my third class with this professor. He is a great guy and an amazing professor. loved his american government most. I got A's in all 3 of his classes. He will totally help you succeed just as long as you clearly put in the effort. participate in class, read the material and show up and you will be solid for an A. TAKE HIS CLASS
Didn't want to take this class, but actually found it interesting. The assignments make you think and some are even funny.
Really good teacher, I was already interested I politics and government before I took his class, but now I'm majoring in it!
montone and boring unless you really pay attention your on your own
I had him for American Gov and International Relations. Really good teacher, he's really passionate about politics and helps you understand.
he's a pretty chill teacher. Can be a tough grader at times. When doing discussions-the longer and more in depth the better. Honestly I bs'ed my discussions
Navratil is overall one of the best poli sic professors at Mvcc, he cares about what he teaches & makes you get involved. Took 2 classes with him and I enjoyed both. He is an interactive teacher and just doesn't just read from the book which is refreshing. Nice guy and easy to approach with questions or problems.
Mr. Navratil is awesome. He is a bit monotone but if you contribute to the lecture, it actually gets interesting. He never clearly states his political views, which takes a lot of pressure off the class to try to be on his good side. He is very knowledgeable and informed on the subjects he teaches. His class is what inspired my poli sci major.
I took two classes of him. This teacher is very passionate about his work, truly cares about students, very warm, kind and understanding. Lectures were amazing, a lot of discussions and handful of amazing insights. Would take him again!
Tests are open note and he makes clear what you need to know. You do lots of different stuff in class--computer lab, video clips, etc. so it is not just him talking. He is pretty laid back and doesn't get on you but will definitely help you if you ask. Anybody can get a good grade.
This guy takes it way too far. DOES NOT CARE ABOUT HIS STUDENTS! gives a lot of homework and must show to class. I DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM
He is great and does care about his students. You just have to put the effort in. The test are straight from what we learned in class. He allows you to use notes so if you did not do well on the exams you probably did not take good notes. An A is possible as long as you work for it and participate.
Mr Navratil was one of of my favorite professors at Moraine. He truly cares for his students. He's so knowledgeable in Politics and has a true passion for it. If you're a Poli Sci major, you'll fall in love with your major all over again.
this teacher looks strict but is the most caring and understanding person ever. you can talk to him on your own about life and he will be there. my respects for this teacher i really learned yeah he was tough, but it was necessary because being a social studies teacher. got the point through. but if you want to earn a good grade and want to learn.
Get ready to read and watch videos! I found this class really interesting and a did learn a lot than I though I would. There are discussion boards every week due, which can be pretty lengthy, so I suggest starting them early. Great professor, super nice and VERY helpful! Do not be afraid to ask for help! Would take again.
Do not take this teacher at all!!!!
He is the hardest and most confusing teacher ever at Moraine Valley. Took him for 1 course and it was the most disaster thing ever, on top of that I didn't learn anything in class unfourtanetly. So yes I DO NOT RECCOMEND HIM AT ALL!!!
Kevin is one of the best professors I have ever had. I learned so much from him, and all the information was super relevant like learning about ISIS. You definitely have to put in a little bit of effort: He is not a blow-off teacher, but he is also not an unreasonable grader. He is always available for help and if you will definitely leave smarter
I liked that we could use our notes on quizzes and exams. The videos and examples he uses in class helped me understand the book more.
I learned a lot about current events. Mr. N is patient with questions and will explain until you understand. I would definitely take another class with him.
I really enjoyed his online class as it was set up in a nice clear understandable format. I felt the workload was fair and enjoyable. I have also become so much more informed in our political system.
I like how Navratil teaches. I appreciated how objective he is and made us look at all sides of the issues we discussed. He is very fair and knows his material.
Decent instructor. He is a tough grader. If you are a slacker or have zero knowledge about American Government then this class will be tough. However, read the book, study, and ask questions and you should be fine. Another thing, participation matters, he will randomly select students and ask for their answer or opinion on a certain topic.
Easy a. Participation is required. Lectures drag but the easiest class I have ever taken. In class assignments that he basically gives you the answer to. Open note quizzes and tests.
Learned a lot in his online class. You have a total of 8 DB, quiz for every chapter you read(I think 15), no papers, DB make up for that because most of them are very lengthy. Use your time wisely and work on them throughout the week bc they take a lot of time. 2 tests-1 of them are the final. Great feedback on all DB. Very nice online professor!
if you honestly looking to fail his class than take him. he is the worst professor ever! I DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM.
He is an amazing teacher. I don't reall like politics but, he made all the chapters relatable. So easy to talk to. All tests are open notes so just read the book and you will get an A.
hes a pretty nice guy and the workload is decent, but be ready to participate, he calls on people randomly!
His class made me think more critically of my political choices and to be more open minded to others views. He cared about students doing well in his class and was willing to help me when I needed it.
I was surprised to find out how much I enjoyed this class. I'm not really into politics, but he made it relatable. All the quizzes are open notes. He cares about feedback. Information wasn't boring either.
I took every one of this professors classes. he is one of the most understanding and helpful professors. he cares about his students. he honestly made everyone interested in politics whether they liked politics or not. You have to make an effort. so show up, join discussions and do the assignments on time. if you do you will walk away with an A.
Great professor that is more than fair in grading. Takes the time to give you feedback on almost all of your assignments. he makes political science interesting for those majoring and not majoring. I took all of his classes and I don't regret one bit. I wish all professors were as caring and great as him. Take him, you won't regret it
I advise you not to go on your phone or fall asleep in this class. His voice is monotone but he is passionate about what he teaches. This class is very discussion focused and you also learn through current events and the book. I was interested before politics before this class but Professor Navratil definitely fueled my love for political action.
I took this class online. It was amazing taking with him . I would recommend him
currently taking him this semester. he is very nice and def knows what hes talking about. he grades assignments very fairly and only wants to see you succeed. i'd def recommend going to class because there are practically in class assignments everyday for 5 points and you cannot make them up. show up and you'll do just fine!
There are quizzes for every chapter, which this course covers 15. There are 8 discussion boards that take 2+ hours to complete for each one. If you do not have time to be doing 3+ hours of homework and studying for just one course, I do not recommend taking this course with this professor.
He's very understanding didn't take off late points for my past due assignments and had extra credit available. The assignments were more interesting than I expected and talk about Covid and things going on now.
Good professor but discussion board posts are time consuming. There's not much to do besides quizzes and discussions. As a professor, he is nice and gives good feedback. Canvas page could be organized a bit better. Besides that, it was a good class. It was very informative. Offers extra credit. You need the book for everything. I'd take him again.
I learned a lot in Intro to Political Science 103 online with Navratil. However, expect an above-average amount of time required each week to complete all of the assignments. The Discussion Board questions are time consuming, but not overly difficult. And he was not a difficult grader. I will take him again.
An amazing teacher, super nice even when I got a post wrong he corrected me but gave me full points. I would love to have him as my professor again especially because he is so understanding.
BEWARE OF ESSAY SIZED DISCUSSION BOARDS EVERY OTHER WEEK THAT TAKE 6-8 HOURS TO COMPLETE. Very easy class, but you have to put the effort in 2 succeed. Overall, a great professor who is kind, caring, and understanding. He gives amazing feedback. 15 Weekly quizzes, + 8 DB's wraps up the semester. STUDY FOR THE QUIZZES w/the practice quiz in the book
He was very understanding when I missed the due dates because of a family situation. Most of your grade is from discussion board assignments.
Mr. Navratil, is a great teacher, he's understanding with me when I turned in my work late sometimes. But it wasn't because I was lazy, I just was behind on a few things but that was on me not him. When he spoke to me about this he was soft spoken about it, motivated me to turn in my work on time and I agree with him turning in late work stinks!
show up, all the notes during lecture are 100% the tests, notes allowed for the tests. the best professor ever
Great professor but work discussion board questions are extremely difficult and take a lot of time. Most are 20 questions that range from 1-3 part answers. Beware.
There are 8 discussion boards and a quiz over each chapter. I've earned nearly full credit on the discussion boards and have an A in the course. He let me make up work from when my mom was sick.
Classes are really organized. He seems to be very fair and offers great insights into our political climate. You should definitely take his class!
I liked learning about war in Ukraine. Hes understanding and a fair grader
He is very unorganized and not worth the hassle. If you are interested in the topic, you will enjoy the class, but if not then I don't recommend him. All you learn about or talk about is the Ukraine War and it can get boring after a while.
He was understanding with my late assignments and has an extra credit assignment. I was able to understand things happening in the world better.
I have taken 3 different classes with Professor Navratil. PSC215 (In-person), American Government (In-person) and International Relations (online). Discussion is big because while Professor Navratil has a topic at hand for class if there was something you did not understand, or you were interested in Professor Navratil can delve more into it.
He is a good teacher, took him online. We have biweekly discussion post that takes foreverrr to finish. every time i would have over 1000 words written. thats the only con tbh. gives a 10 point extra credit oppertunity. quizzies are biweekly too and u get two attempts.
LOVED HIM! He's such a great guy. Honestly, would love to take him again for a different politics class. His class work was not too difficult, and his discussions felt necessary. I appreciated how he makes you consider the implications of modern politics and how YOU can find your own voice through it. Overall. 10/10 would take again.
Great online teacher. Great at replying to questions. Learned a lot through his assignments. Plenty of reading material in his course.
TAKE THIS CLASS IF UR INTERESTED IN POLITICS!!! He is a respectable teacher who emphasizes participation (your input matters), even if you aren't a participation kind of person u will still enjoy talking about politics in his class, trust me. He is a fairly easy grader and personally, I didn't find the workload hard- it could get long though.
If you're interested in political science, this is the class for you. Professor Navratil's enthusiasm for his subject is contagious. The lessons are interesting and interactive. You will end this class with a greater insight into international relations than you thought yourself capable of. The knowledge gained is well worth the work involved.
The two main reasons as to me dropping was because I currently work full time and it was hard for me to manage this online course. His "lectures" were almost always 2 power points with 30 slides each, difficult for me to write good notes because I felt like one little thing that I missed would show up on the quiz and did not know how to answer.
He is a great professor. Lots of material provided to ensure you succeed. It is a lot of work. The assignments every week are lengthy and you will have to watch lectures/documentaries frequently to answer the questions. If you are a hard worker, you will do fine. If you are not and lazy, well why did you enroll in college in the first place?
I absolutely loved this professor. If you're genuinely interested in political science he is the teacher for you. I took his PSC103 class and PSC210. The assignments were definitely on the longer side but they were very engaging. He is also very responsive when it comes to emailing and will actually send you interesting articles to read.
I took PSC110 and it was my favorite class prof does class project he gives the answers for every single one. His classroom is a safe space to share your opinion. As long as you go to class, do the packets and participate you will receive an A. This class is not test heavy and doesn't have any papers. Exams are open note.
hardest part about taking it online is the fact the textbook is required and you have to read the whole thing progressively by the end of the semester. it is hard if you don't like reading for long terms like me. all the assignments are answered on Word or Docs I ONLY recommend taking if you actually are interested in politics and how it works.
I took two of his online classes and they were both completely online with interesting videos to watch. We got to discuss things that are currently happening with TikTok and immigration
I loved this class at Moraine! It got me interested in politics and gave me a better insight into international relations. We discussed difficulties of global politics, analyzed different systems, learned about nations, groups, and types of government. Overall, I really enjoyed the class and feel confident to go into the major of political science.
im a lit major who is now contemplating taking more polisci classes bc of him. you do a total of 8 assignments all semester, maybe 3 discussion boards, and the rest are multiple choice quizzes. great class and great teacher.
We got to learn about things that are currently happening in world. He finds interesting videos and lets you know how you are doing on each assignment.
Fun class, we learn about modern day things which is nice for a political science class instead of learning stuff that happened hundreds of years ago. He has assignments you do before class, but really you just have to pay attention, and do your work.
I love Mr Navratil. He has so much passion in what he does, he truly cares about what hes doing and his students'. I was lucky enough to take his class during the election, weve had great discussions about it, ive learned so much abt our gov, and hes made me want to learn more on my own! Participate and you'll see how amazing he is -L Harb
Attendance was not mandatory but 1 points are deducted if you do not show up for class. I had a hybrid late start and early finish class so we only met once a week starting late September and ending early December. We were given a lot of assignments in the very beginning. Easy grader.
It was interesting to have assignments about whats happening in the world today like the wars in Gaza and Ukraine. I understand tariffs now and how the impact the global economy.
THEEEEEEEEEE BESTTTTT PROFFESOR IN MORAINE!!!!!!!! trust me take him for any political science classes you need. he's an easy grader and has the easiest assigments.
The most helpful and understanding professor I have had at Moraine. He provided feedback on every online assignment. I learned a lot with all the articles and videos he used on assignments. He picks those out to help us learn instead of the textbook.
As someone nervous abt getting into poli sci, this professor genuinely helped me out so much. He makes the layout of the class so simple and easy that if you get anything less than an A+, I'm concerned for you. If you do work and watch the videos, you should have no issues. Genuinely, all I have to say is if you're considering it.Just do it lol
We don't have any quizzes or exams just assignments. I liked that wasn't a textbook. I'd take him again.
I was worried for Poli Sci. I thought it would be boring or difficult. This was one of my favorite classes! All the learning material is relevant to current events and he gives clear feedback on the assignments you turn in. I would definitely take this class again.
Grading is very flexible, with great strong feedback each assignment. His assignments are fairly consistent, especially in terms of due dates, and I would take him again without hesitation 100%. The course was online, but he seems so nice and understanding. To be honest, as long as you complete the work correctly and try, you can pass.
