he is great! i would take his classes
Biggest pain in the ass
a ton of work..don't let film fool you
he's not that easy, starts out as a nice guy but can be a jerk sometimes
hard but good
No Comments
Does not know what hes doing at all and thinks his class is the only one your taking
This guy isnt gonna let you slack off, there is worse teachers, he is a great guy and very helpful, but you wont slide through he class, he either has a class that does really well or reall bad. Good Luck, dont be a slacker.
He's great!! Favorite professor!!
this guy was one of my favorite professors at bryant. he grades kind of hard, but just go to class and do the readings and you will be fine
Excellent prof. Can relate with students at a personal level. Gives evry oppotunity to receive a good grade, if you are willing to do the work. He helps students ease into speaking in front of the class.
Very nice man and a heck of a good professor! He has a great personality and really knows the subjects. Truly an interesting class and he makes it fun. Hot lol.
Let me tell you,the saying "It is not the class but the professor that makes or breaks you in college." Well, this is the professor that will break you in half. Avoid him at all costs. He just wants tenure. He thinks he is Ivy League material.
He is a knowledgeable professor, and a very funny guy. He has his mood swings, but the classes are very interesting. He gives pop quizzes so do your reading and his exams are difficult. His speaches are graded mostly on the outline and preparation and not on the presentation.

Very fair professor. You get a quiz almost every class so do your readings. There is only 2 major presentations that are graded more on your preparation rather than the presentation. Funny guy and knows how to be a little creative with his teachings. Take his class!
Very easy, never takes attendance, only 3 multiple choice tests including the final...are easy. Only have two hmwk assignments worth total of 50pts and 5gs paper due on anything that has to do with the class..humerous!
"its communicaTION not communicaTIONSSSS". I still hear his voice... Loved the guy. He's contemporary and loves teaching this stuff and teaches it with a smile. Not easy, but you'll learn a TON!
this guy is great. his quizzes are almost every class and are a little hard so make sure you read. he is funny and will help you whenever you need help. very fair guy. TAKE THIS CLASS! it is awesome though. it teaches you a lot about speaking in front of people.
nice guy. class isnt that boring. tests kinda suck cuz they are 40 mc.
His lectures were repetative and confusing. He focused all classes on the same theories over and over again. I would have liked to learn applicable and interesting material. His debates were pointless and did not add to the learning experience. He is a tough grader with no known criteria. This course topic had such potential...
good teacher. i didn't think his lectures were confusing at all. debates sucked, but class was interesting. take him if you can.
pearce is awesome! do not leave bryant without taking a class from him. his tests are hard but he is funny as hell
tells you everything you'll need to know. but no extra credit. always makes himself available if you need help. overall great guy. good sense of humor and an awesome prof
I hate this guy, and this class. Boring material.. learned nothing new. He gives you a 0 for participation if you dont talk in his class.. 10% of your grade down the tube. I think hes a jerk... wait to take it with someone else
has a strange obsession w/ class participation that will totally screw u over if u talk every class
Pearce was a dink. He was really rude and talked down to all the students. The first day when I heard his voice I knew it was going to be a rough semester (you will know what I mean, trust me). He is BIG on participation-make yourself known in his class... if you HAVE to take him. Try to avoid at all costs.
Great professor. Takes classes himself so he knows what it is like to be a student. Brings interesting material to class from outside the book. Read what he talks about in class, but you don't have to memorize the entire book.
Pearce is a good teacher. You can tell he likes the material. A bit too much work for a 200 level course, but if you have to take it, take it from him.

pearce isn't bad at all. he makes the class interesting. the film class is a ton of work. there are papers almost every week. but at least you don't have to read a ton of novels.
Excellent professor. Makes the material understandable and enjoys teaching...
Teacher does his best at making this class more difficult than it needs to be. Very onesided when analyzing films. Grades extremely hard. I rec'vd a C in this course and it was 1 of only 3 that I rec'vd at Bryant in my 4 years. Most students will take this course however, to fill the mode of thought requirement, instead of taking Shakespeare
pearce is pretty cool. he can be funny at times. he knows the material and tries to make it interesting.
Sure he makes the material interesting, but only take him if you don't mind getting a C despite your effort to read, attend class, and study because a C is his idea of a good grade
Unclear exams. Ridiculously hard grader. Inappropriate comments. Zero communication through email (oxymoron?). Bottom line, you're going to get a bad grade, regardless of how much effort and time you put in. I think he gets power out of it or something.
pearce is a great teacher. he made the class interesting. he isnt as hard as everyone says.
I would not recommend Kevin Pearce to anyone. He is a nice guy but when it comes to projects, papers, and exams he is horrible. He is the most subjective grader I have ever had. His exams are all essays that you study really hard to do, and then when he finally hands them back all he has written down is a number. No comments, no feedback, nothing.
I took Dr. Pearce for research methods and argumentation & persuasion. Despite what anyone says, he's actually really understanding and down-to-earth. He is passionate about the subject matter but will work with you, and if he sees you're putting in an honest effort, he'll try his best to help you succeed in the class. Honestly. Would recommend.
He is not a bad guy or anything but I wouldn't say that I would highly recommend him either. I went to every class, studied for exams and still didn't do well on them. For the class I put the most effort into this semester I did by far the worst in out of all of my others. Call me crazy but 2 full letter grades lower than all my other classes?
I would totally recommend Dr. Pearce. I didn't do as well in his class that I had hoped, but Research Methods is a hard class. He is a good teacher and I would take him again.
KP ROCKS MY SOCKS! LOL
There's no group work, no activities, just lectures! And it's so hard to listen because he is really*** monotone. He just kinda bothers me and always finds a way to sneak in politics. ugh
I think professor Pearce is great. There are a lot of dumb jocks who just sit there and don't do any work. I like that he makes practice exams. I would definitely recommend him.
Highly recommend him as a professor. brings outside topics from outside the classroom and his own personal experience. If you do the readings, which are short, and do his assignments you'll be good and he offers extra credit too.
Definitely take KP before you leave Bryant. He comes off as hard but actually gives a lot of extra credit.
Great guy and very caring. He's an amazing professor!
KP is the man! Definitely take him before you get out of Bryant. I had him for SIE and he was great.
power hungry condescending professor who does a very poor job teaching. research methods would be extremely enjoyable with any other professor. very rude and wants to see you fail. provides no help and doesn't give proper feedback for the group project until it is too late. awful at explaining class concepts and really just fails at teaching
I had KP for research methods and I thought he was great. He really tried to make sure that everyone knew what they were doing. The paper is broken down into parts to make it easier.
I took KP for research methods. He did a good job with hard material. He made the class interesting. He comes across as hard but he really wants everyone to do well.
I personally like Professor Pearce. He is a very chill and knowledgeable man. His class is super tough though and you have to be ready to read and work. The concepts in his class are accumulative so make sure you understand them as they're being taught and ask questions. If you want an easy elective, do not take this.
the absolute worst professor i have ever had rude, obnoxious, condescending worst teacher ever, such a rude person
This was a difficult semester but KP tried to make the best of it. I think he got better as the semester went on. He curves the tests if people don't do well.
He is a fine guy but his class is very hard. I studied for days for his tests and still got bad grades. There are barely any assignments. Just three mini papers and three exams. I wish he gave us more assignments to boost our grades up. It is very lecture heavy. He expects you to read the chapter so make sure you read!
Really great professor. Take him if you can.
His class had 3 Exams that count for 70% of your grade, and the rest is small papers that he does not grade until the last day of the class. His test are hard even after studying a lot
Great guy and teacher. Most classes are actually interesting and conversation based so its easy to stay engaged. Don't have to read book but will do significantly better on tests if you do. 3 tests, one paper, and participation are only things factored into grades.
Fantastic teacher, really down to earth with entertaining lectures. Very understanding as well. As long as you participate in class dicussions and study a bit before tests, it's pretty easy to get at minimum a B
Professor Pearce is well-versed, passionate, and has a great sense of humor (sometimes sarcastic). His syllabus is very straightforward, and much of the course consists of engaging in-class discussions. His exams are simple and concise, and if you study the material you will do well. I recommend taking his course, it was a great experience!
Do not take unless you have to. He doesn't teach you watch videos the whole class and he expects you to learn everything in the textbook on your own time. You can't use computers to take notes. He is rude and not understanding. His exams are so hard that he always has to curve.
Professor Pearce is someone who you wouldn't mind taking just because of his personality. He is a bit of a hard teacher. What I mean is that he goes by the material extremely fast, expecting you to come into class with the knowledge of the material in mind already, and his exams are often difficult which calls for him to curve it by a lot.
Great guy, classes are lectures that often get out early. Good mix of following book and talking about things outside the book. Tests were not easy, average was often in the B range, but scaled them. Gave an option for paper or project, and I really enjoyed the project. Would take again
Professor Pearce was really funny and tried to make the class interesting. His tests were difficult but he curved them so the class overall did ok. He got really behind and had to catch up. I would take him again.
I liked professor Pearce. His tests are difficult but he curves. I have him again next semester.
Professor Pearce is an overall good professor. He uses a lot of material from the textbooks and really urges you to participate. He often talks about his life stories, which are honestly pretty interesting. Highly recommend taking notes, his exams are hard and confusing, but he curves them. Taking him again for Mass Comm.
He is a good guy but overall having 3 exams count for 70% of your grade is absolutely ridiculous not to mention he is very hard to reach outside of class
Professor Pearce is a good professor but this course is extremely hard. The material is heavy but the information you get out of the class is necessary. There are 3-4 tests that are weighted heavy, your grade is half exam, half final project so you have to do well. He is available outside of class for help.
Professor Pearce was alright but is also a professor I would never take again. He is a nice guy, but this COM class was weirdly difficult for how easy the content was. The test questions are purposely misleading, and you need to write FAST to keep up with his rambling. Also, I spent so much on my final project and it got graded so unfairly.
Pearce is a great professor and makes the class entertaining. You will actually learn in the class and he provides you with clear instructions for all assignments and how to study for exams. Class consists of 3 exams, one paper/project. If you take notes in class and review the study guide for exams, you will do absolutely fine.
had to sit there for three hours and just listen to him talk. Not allowed to use phone or computer at all. Get extremely bored and hard to focus. Other than that he is a good guy and likes to talk about his experiences in life.
Worst Professor I've had. Hates the textbook he chose. Exams are hard, tricks you and study guide doesn't cover some parts of the exams. Vague with instructions then gives you a bad grade with no explanation or comments for your grade. Participation is big part of your grade but there's no chance until students emailed him. Doesn't answer emails.
One of Bryant's worst professors by far. Every assignment is lazily made, with confusing questions that you can tell weren't given more than 10 seconds of thought. No rubrics for any papers and no comments or explanation for the grade you get. Exam questions are just as poorly worded, lazy, and purposefully misleading for how easy the material is.
Pearce is a good guy and his class is pretty casual. Go to class take notes and do the homework and you'll pass. He doesn't really care about this class but he always posts study guides for the exams, and the homework quizzes are directly from the readings and will boost your grade if you do them.
DONT recommend. He requires a textbook but hates it and it doesn't even help with the exams. His exams are made from his head, so what you learn from outside won't help. Questions are difficult. lot of writing assignments compared to all my other classes and doesn't give 100s. attendance doesn't matter but it counts towards your participation so.
Professor Pearce is not a very good teacher, and the class is very boring. He makes the students buy a textbook that he hates, and his tests are so hard for an easy class. Ton of essays, especially at the end of semester and forces students to go to intercultural events outside of class. Very hard grader with no feedback. Doesn't respond to emails
I have taken Pearce almost every semester since my Freshman year. He has improved immensely from past times I have had him. He gives more graded assignments besides exams now and just is more lenient (surprisingly). Pearce also tries to be more understanding. I would take him again only because I do not think I can avoid him forever haha.
Do not recommend teacher. He makes students buy the textbook, then complains about the definitions in the book not living up to his expectations. Tests are hard and not from what we have learned in class, rambles all of class , and changes his grading style without any warning. He is a nice guy but should not be teaching this class much longer.
Professor Pearce's class was disappointing. His lectures were dull, making it hard to stay engaged, and he was an extremely tough grader. The grading lacked transparency and felt overly harsh. While the material was interesting, the lack of engaging teaching and clear feedback made the course unnecessarily difficult.
I see a lot of complaints about him but I thought he was pretty good. He knows what he is talking about.
He was very enthusiastic about the class. He didn't really use the textbook. Make sure you go to class because most of the stuff on the tests comes from his lecture.
I would recommend Pearce. He is a hard grader and the book was not really used, but if you go to class and listen you can do well. He makes the lectures interesting.
all exams are on paper, and he sits in front of the entire class and talks about nonsense. this class is a complete joke and he was the one who made it mandatory for every student. when you return after Thanksgiving, be prepared to spend 4 hrs a day on this class alone through all the papers he assigns. Good luck to any student that has him.
Professor Pearce is manageable if you attend class and stay attentive. He assigns a fair amount of work, but it's doable if you don't procrastinate. The movie assignment is straightforward, and the paper can be done in about an hour. Papers are open-ended but not too difficult. He ensures fair grading and works with students who put in effort.
Lecture heavy, and sometimes it was confusing to take notes. He can be very passive aggressive at times. Pay attention because if you don't you WILL struggle. Some things he said were kind of unnecessary and raised some eyebrows. Despite this, I would take him again. Just be prepared if you take him but don't be scared. He is not THAT bad.
He doesn't allow any technology because he finds it offensive to him. NO PHONES + NO LAPTOPS. He can be petty if you're late by a few minutes. He doesn't use powerpoints, not the greatest for intercultural comms, he gives extra quizes if he is mad at you. He wants you to take extra time outside of class to write notes on the topic. No homework.
NBA comparison: Kilyan Hayes. Worst professor I've had by far. Dude takes his job way too serious. Took him for intercultural and he was easily the worst professor for the topic. He gave us a final paper, a final exam and an assessment all due the same day. Don't take him.
I thought he was pretty good. He is very understanding and is willing to work with you.
This dude absolutely blows, grades assignments very very hard for no reason, takes it way too serious, lectures are brutal, DO NOT TAKE THIS WEIRDO
If you are looking to take communications but are not particularly interested in it, do not take him. From what I hear, he takes this class more seriously than any other professor. He makes you buy a textbook you never use, does not allow any technology in class, and is often rude to students. He is also a tough grader and provides 0 feedback.
He doesn't allow any computers for notes yet only lectures with 0 PowerPoints or writing on the board then moves so quickly that you can't keep up and he doesn't care when people ask him to repeat. For the tests, my class had a failing average on 3 of the 4 tests and he simply did not care. For essays, he just picks random grades with no feedback
This class wasn't necessarily difficult, it was just so boring and I don't really like him. This is the only textbook I had to buy this semester and I've read from it once. He is very passive aggressive and doesn't like to take responsibility when his students don't do well. I almost fall asleep every class, would not recommend.
he talks more about hating donald trump and fox news than actually teach and when he does its always so monotone and gruesome. he does a bunch of knowledge assessments that are multiple choice but the wording will get u so beware
He was pretty good. He doesn't really use the book much.
Overall, I thought he was pretty good. I would take him again.
I took him for sports communication and it was pretty good. He is very lecture heavy and expects participation but gives small opportunities to participate in class. His exams are not hard if you read over the material before. Nice guy if you are on his good side. Hes also pretty funny.
Pearce is the worst. His class is all lecture based with no powerpoint and no writing on the board. He thinks he is better than everyone else because he has been in so many intercultural relationships. He seemed happy when he shared to my class that the average of the exam year prior was a 70. DO NOT TAKE HIM for this class.
