Finate Math - difficult subject. He does everything possible to help you succeed in the class. Lots of opportunities for bonus points. Made an A.
he doesnt go over everything in class, "just read over this when u get home" he said that a lot. i dropped his class, had a 45 average.......
Pinegar is not very easy teacher.Must do the homework,be ready to put above average time in this class, and work the test review problems.( DO NOT MISS ANY OF HIS CLASSES)
These other raters must just be really bad at math. Taken him for 3 different classes. He goes over everything you need to know in lecture and his tests aren't hard. Do the problems and you'll make an A
I absolutely hated his class. It was difficult for me to understand what he was trying to say. All the notes are given to you typed. i acutally find it harder to understand the subject that way. i would NEVER take him again.
Great Prof. explains everything, hands out notes, gives lots of chances for bounus if you don't do so good on test. Don't miss class!!
A little hard to understand sometimes, but he really is a nice guy. Gives you typed notes and practice exams. The practice exams are much harder than the real tests. So if you can do the practice exams, and the problems in the book you will ACE exams!
He IS a tough teacher, but his typed up notes and practice tests are all I had to look over in order to get an A. He's really nice, but doesn't really go over the homework much.
He's great. He gives you notes so you don't have to take any. He also gives you a sample test that is very helpful for his real tests.
He is a very cool teacher. Gives a note packet and a sample test packet. Some questions are the same on the test as in the packet. Sometimes i taught myself the info becasue his notes are really good. I recommend him over anyone. He likes to crack jokes and talk about sports.
Finite..internet...summer. Very good notes. Buy the solutions manual. Do all your homework. Dont expect to make a good grade in this section if you struggle in math. I made an A, but only because the tests got progressively easier. He was very slow answering my questions via e-mail.
If you have to take this class take him. His teaching style is pretty weak though. he just reads over those notes in class. He gives you a review for all the tests. Most of the questions on the tests are basically those. Do your best on the first 2 tests because the tests get progressively difficult
All notes and reviews given on 1st day, so you are free to work ahead. Everything explained clearly in class. Teaching style is dry, but if you pay attention, you get it. Best chance for learning this material because he will work with you. highly recomend
Reviews are great. His notes on BB are great. This class can be hard at times. Sometimes he does go faster than the class can understand. Hi is good.
I dropped this class it was to hard and I am an A student. He goes to fast but I dunno who's worse him or McCurdy
I took him on the internet. He just tells you when the tests are and thats about how helpful he is. If you are not good in math don't attempt the class. GOOD LUCK if you try.
Took on Internet. The test were extremly difficult. Notes were not that easy to understand. Take another prof. Class average very low.
Very hard to understand. Read from the book and didn't explain himself well when I asked questions. I am an A student and there was no way I would get an A in that class. He is nice enough just not thorough for a college algebra class.
signed up for a. tate <recommend. he is left handed and writes all his notes on the projector so his hand always covers them. writes too fast. cracks jokes occasionally. cheesy but keeps you paying attention. i made a d and have to take it over. most of the class dropped. AGAIN I RECOMMEND ANN TATE. oh and he likes hot chicks
I had him for two distance learning classes. Finite Math and Calculus With Applications. I thuoght his notes were very clear and helpful. The only thing is his on-line practice test were extremly more difficult then test. I spent a lot of time studying information that wasn't even on the on-line exam. Some test questions come right from the rev
Good teacher that knows his stuff fairly well, the biggest drawback is he is left handed. trying to follow what he is doing on the camera projector is quite difficult as his hand does cover up most of the work. other than that he is good
What the others said about his left-handed-ness. He explains stuff somewhat clearly, but gets upset if you ask him to repeat himself. Offers a ton of extra credit (15 pts per test), and drops your lowest test grade (out of 5). He's a so-so teacher, but offers so much extra credit that it more than makes up for his lousy teching.
Easy class if you are good at math. The class is very structured. If you do the homework and reviews and practice tests you will do fine. His tests are fairly simple. Must take a midterm and final on campus testing center. The midterm and final was very easy. Can get an A if you work for it. Not an easy class if you do not keep up with his schedule
I had this professor for hybrid finite math. Great teacher, explains everything very clearly. I am going to take him for calculus with applications too.
real helpful. go to si if someone is doing it. He gives you extra credit for it and it really helps for the tests.
Must study review sheets and homework (even though he does not give you a grade for it, he helps you a lot with 10 pts extra bonus on tests). Not very clear if math is not your thing. I did well, earned an A, but I worked for it.
I am in his hybrid class now and I am thinking about dropping. Cant afford the bad grades. He goes very fast, doesn't really like a whole lot of questions, and doesn't really work from the book (he just goes over the problems that are already done in the notes he provides). NOT A GOOD PROF IF YOUR NOT GOOD AT MATH!!!!!!!!!!!!
His class is pretty easy if you are good at math. Don't buy the book if you are good in math. All his notes are on blackboard. His class is really easy.
He was and still is a GREAT PROFESSOR to me! I took him for FastTrack College Algebra and FastTrack Finite Math, and Hybrid Calculus w/ Appl. He didn't mind questions being asked and offered many ways to get in touch with him if you needed extra help. Explained the material well in our class, and in his lecture notes. LOVE HIM!
HE DOESNT TEACH. HE JUST READS HIS NOTES. NO EXAMPLES. I HATE THE WAY HE TEACHES AND TALKS. NOT GOOD. DONT TAKE HIM. HE DOESNT CARE AND DOESNT CARE IF YOU UNDERSTAND OR NOT. NO HW. NO ANYTHING. JUST A REVIEW AND A TEST.
Be able to teach yourself. learn the notes before you go to class (if you do so there is no point in going) he lectures off of his notes on blackboard. not a big variety of examples. very boring. you have four test in class one outside of class lowest grade dropped and a final. no grades are taken besides test grades.kind of a teach yourself course
he is an awesome teacher, i have taken him for finite math and calculus and got both A, he gives homework but not collected.its for practice.Math is practice and if you done practice dont blame the teacher for failing.you are in college, the teacher can teach the topic but he cannot do all the work for you.for anyone who wants to learn.take him
not a very good teacher,,,just read his notes..don't teach enough so that students can understand him,,and his teaching style is not very good.u need to think twice before taking his class,,
I really don't know what you people are talking about. He gives tons of examples. He walks through them with you, and gladly accepts questions. The only reason you didn't get something is because you didn't raise your damn hand and as a question. Pinegar is an excellent teacher.
This professor is extremely easy! I don't get how other people gave him a bad review. They must either be retarded or just didn't show up for class. He gives ample amount of examples and a good test review. I did the bare min and still got an A, I suggest everyone take this teacher if you need finite math.
His online class is murder. Very difficult. I'm naturally pretty good at math and I can only imagine how low the class averages and first time A rates are. Wow, how do they expect first time calculus students who aren't math majors to thrive in this class?
extremely boring class!!! especially in the morning. he just sits behind his desk and teaches from the projector. he explains things pretty well but is kinda boring.
This professor is awesome. He makes you work for your grade and gives you all the tools you need to succeed. Not much book use, didn't really need it if you print off the class notes. He won't leave class till you understand what he is teaching as long as you speak up.
AMAZING!!! I loved math when I was young, and then lost it when I hit algebra and had trouble, but he rekindled my love of math!!! This was the class that for me I didn't really have any homework. If you have a hard time with a subject, the hw prob will help. He gives lots of extra credit, so attend class so you are informed of it, lots of bonuses
He is a great guy, lot of fun to talk to. He's teaching is very dull, but if you speek up he'll help you till you get it. Go to class, he gives extra credit in class so if you show up you'll get it. He is left handed so copying his notes is a little hard. Never used the book, just online notes.
Did not enjoy the class, Pinegar reads directly from his notes and does not use the book...yet he still makes you come to class. This is the most useless class I think I have ever taken because not only is it math for "non-majors" but it is useless for anyone who isn't a business major. Thumbs down.
I took his online calculus with applications class. It was NOT an "easy A", but if you apply yourself there is plenty of opportunity to get an A. He offers A LOT of extra credit in each exam. I suggest doing the 2 P.A.'s prior to taking the text bc they are a good study tool. Bottom line: you will get a good grade if you put forth 100%.
Easiest class ever. Averaging well over 100 on test grades. The dude teachers very clearly, extremely repetitively, almost to the point of annoyingness. But there's no way you wont be able to ace the test if your concious 50% of the time. If you cant get a B in here.. Good luck in college.
I took him for calculus, and he is a great teacher! He really cares about his students and wants them too do well. All of his lecture notes are on BB, and he adds extra credit to all exams.
Finite math is a hard subject in my opinion, but keep up with your homework and attend EVERY CLASS, you should do fine. He does problems in class that are similar on the test with different numbers. Only problem is which question is he going to choose...Need help, go to the math lab. Asking him will give you answers, but not how to work problems.
I took the class online and taught myself the information without a book!!!!!!!!I stictly used his notes and completed the PA assignments did the reviews both of them and I made a 98 because his test are directly related, some questions were exact replica! He is very understanding I dont know many professors like this.
He started out great... working out problems on the overhead thing... then he got lazy and just read off of the notes he provides on blackboard, I find myself googling things (that were supposed to be taught by him) while doing the homework. So, fair warning... the class isn't super hard, but if you need training wheels... i'd skip this professor.
Good professor. A bit hard to follow while taking notes due to being left handed but as long as you do the PA's, you should do okay on the exams. 4 exams and around 10 PA assignments which equal another exam grade once they're finished. I'll definitely take him again. Exams are pretty easy as well as long as some sort of effort is put forward.
Took as a mini semester (3wks). Not too hard but definately not easy. 4 exams and about 10 practice assignments. The PA's add up to another test grade. Really nice professor, but not clear at all times about subject matter. However, it was a rushed 3 wk class. Would take again.
Great Professor! His explaination is short and easy to understand. focus on the important. very helpful!! 10PAs practices with 3 attemps each. The PAs give you a good preparation for the test. 5 tests which content the problems that he taught. drop the non-zero lowst test grade. Final is easy as well! easy A!!!
Rather than teaching the class a math concept, he vaguely goes over a 1 or 2 problems for each concept. Does not put you in position to succeed in class. Everybody who are making good grades, have a background of taking Calculus, like international students. Be prepared to do alot of google websearching and outside tutoring for this class.
Best math teacher at the school! Gives A LOT of practice material and resources plus he goes over everything very well. Replaces lowest test grade with the final and one online test. there are 2 online PA's(practice assignments) for every chapter but they are very easy, got a 100 on almost all of them. 10 pts. Extra credit in each test.
Took his online course. Unlike most professors who simply use MyMathLab. He prefers just telling you to read the book and understand it yourself. So, if your really good at understanding new math concepts with no help whatsoever, this is perfect for you. I have always excelled at math but this was just ridiculous
Great Professor! Funny and will help you with any questions. Answers email immediately! He suggests homework, and if you do that and the PA's, you WILL get an A. If you don't understand something, he will explain it until you do. Highly recommend. I am NOT a 'math person'.
He is a great teacher. I took him for 1324 and 1325. He has notes that you print from blackboard, you just print them and add to them. you do NOT need the book. The homework he assigns is all on blackboard .the only bad thing is that he is left handed and this makes it hard to follow him when he rushes.
Great professor. The only way you won't pass is if you don't show up to class (obviously). He likes when you act interested and is extremely helpful and always willing to tutor. Totally recommend his classes, really cares about his students
Great teacher, best that I have ever had
As long as you put in the time you will be fine. Read the notes he gives you, and don't fall behind on the homework or you will be overwhelmed. This was my first math class in 10 years, and I took it online. I was still able to get an A! Final is worth 40% so you have to study.
I took his 1324 & 1325 simultaneously. It was one of the most organized distance learning courses that I have ever taken, and I wish that other professors organized their courses similarly. Expectations were clear, and very well communicated at the beginning of the course. Responds to emails very fast. Earned A's in both classes.
AMAZING TEACHER... would definitely take again.. really cares about his students!
Professor Pinegar was okay. If you are not great at Math I DO NOT recommend taking him. He doesn't really "teach". Instead, he reads his notes during the entire time you are there. You basically teach yourself by reading the book and watching videos. He does give plenty of extra credit though. I would not re-take him.
Very helpful one on one. do not hesitate to talk to him about problems you are having!
To start off: This is a TOUGH subject with those that aren't familiar or who aren't great at math. However, If you think you can learn on your own through notes, books etc. Take him online! Professor Pinegar is Amazing & everything is clear and organized. He is nice and gives a bit of extra credit but you Will have to do the work & a lot!
Took him online. 5 modules @ 15-20homework quizzes plus 5 tests total. Final 40% on campus. Great Professor, helpful & organized. Many dropped tough SUBJECT. It is a self teaching class, but I found Professor helpful and responds quickly to emails. Very nice gives some extra credit. You will NEED either campus tutoring,Smart thinking,or Youtube.
He is a great lecturer, very clear and not boring at all. I never opened the book so don't bother unless you like the extra problem solving.
Mr. Pinegar is a really good person and is always willing to help. I took his class online and I do not suggest this class (online) not because of him, but just because math online is very difficult. You have to really sit down and teach yourself everyday. It isn't one of those online courses where you can pretty much skip through it.
Expect a ton of work. I have always been accustomed to mymathlab but he does not incorporate this, instead you teach yourself from his notes. The class is VERY time consuming so do not fall behind if you are full time and work. If you are not a "math" person, tutoring is a must. It can be difficult without help. He is helpful but its a lot of work
Goes over his notes during class. Gives A LOT of extra credit. Doesn't use the textbook, I ended up hardly using the textbook at all. He assigned practice problems from the book but also gave online reviews with plenty of practice problems, so the book ended up just being an extra.
Pinegar is a very caring and generous professor. He offers many extra credit opportunitys to add to your final grade in his class. The exams are VERY SIMILAR to the online reviews that you do for a grade. He lectures straight off the notes (which can be a tad boring and tedious) so going to class may not be nessarcy if your good at math.
He is a good teacher and very caring but can give a lot of homework with the modules. They take 2 to 3 hours to finish one. If you like someone who explains the problems he's not the professor for you. He has notes and a lot of mistakes on his notes, also just lectures over his notes and doesn't make much since.
If youare an average in math don't take him. He is not good in explaining the formulas and problems we go over in class. Don't waste your time. A lot of people drop the class . Take Douglas Green he is good in explaining the material and is easier to understand.
I took business cal and finite math both with him. started out face to face and because of work issues I had to drop. He then switched me to his online classes. He is very responsive to questions and genuinely cares about his job. The lectures are all online and easy to follow. Only the final is in person so make sure you plan that out.
Pinegar is great! I struggled because I am used to MML and he does not use that. It is very much a self taught class, but he is there any day, any time to help answer questions. I am horrible at math and made out with a B. He is also the kindest professor I've ever had. I will miss him!
I took Professor Pinegar for Fall 2016 for 1324 Finite Math and 1325 Calculus. I can honestly say he was the best online teacher I ever had . The modules and lecture video are very well structured .His communication is on point. He responds to emails and he utilizes blackboard fully. He also gives extra credit if needed. I will recommend him .
Professor P was awesome! Business Calculus is not an easy subject, but I felt like he was a great teacher! Lots of notes and videos to help you on Blackboard. There is a lot of homework as with any math class so you have to stay on top of it. Lots of opportunities to get extra credit! His tests were not bad.
I took professor Pinegar for 1324 and 1325. He is very knowledgeable about the subject he teaches. His goal is to make sure everyone understands his lectures. The homework is all online and like any other math class there is a good amount of it. Defiantly plan to make time for HW. Professor P is a good guy and cares about each of his students.
I took Professor Pinegar this past winter mini. There is a lot of material covered, so expect a lot of homework. The assignments are online and the tests are a given--just be sure to study over the lectures and homework material. The only way you would fail this course is if you do not put in work.
Mr. P encourages no textbook. He provides youtube videos, pdf notes, and powerpoints for his class. He's also HIGHLY accessible through email/BB. Be aware that the notes have errors but email him if you suspect any. I typically found 1-3 in each module's notes, but most of them did not affect my learning. Flexible course schedule aside from exams.
I took Pinegar for Business Calculus. The course itself was very challenging but he provides plenty of resources and his notes are very thorough and easy to understand. He puts in so much work to make sure his students have a good amount of resources, plenty of opportunity for extra credit, and he keeps his lectures lighthearted and funny.
I liked Prof. P. He is a cool guy who is funny and nice. He does call people out when they're on their phone, but.l no biggie. He tests are easy, and he always give s extra credit on the tests. The only thing is this class has a lot of online hw, but honestly it's nothing that can't be done. would recommend.
I'm not amazing in Math but this class was pretty hard to follow without a lot of examples. Professor Pinegar has compiled his own "textbook" which is nice but the homework is quite hard and the "textbook" doesn't have examples to match the questions. There is a lot of work to do on your own - do it if you want to pass!
This class had so much work it was ridiculous. There are 5 exams plus a on campus final, tons of homework! You can pass this class if you do all of the work and score pretty high on your exams. I would never take this class again. I'm happy I passed.
Absolutely amazing proffessor. He gives an insane amount of extra credit and gives you the tools you need to pass. Absolute favorite proffessor I've ever had. My only regret was that I couldn't complete my bachelors with him. I definitley recommend him!
Easily one of the best professors I've ever had. Clear grading criteria, extra credit opportunities, lots of hw but manageable, homework and quizes are usually harder than the test so the test are easy, fast grader, and an extremely nice and caring professor. Took both his finite math class and business calculus class and enjoyed both.
took him online and really did enjoy it, yes it's a lot of work, if you don't manage your time well this may not be for you cause due dates are set and back to back, very responsive to emails when you have a question about an assignment, also there's a forum where you can interact with your classmates or ask questions and that was very helpful.
He is a great professor i took him for cal I. You can use your notes on every exam. As long as you do the homework you are good
This class was very easy. 5 modules. Each module I was given 2 weeks to complete about 5-8 homeworks, 3-4 quizzes, and the test. Each homework had unlimited attempts and gave you the answers after your first submission which was helpful. Quiz's get 2 attempts and test get 2 attempts. Easy class and VERY easy final.
Professor Pinegar is a really chill and laid back professor. He cracks a lot of jokes. He has a bit of homework but you get multiple attempts and feedback on each one. He gives out soooooooo much extra credit its insane. All his notes online. Lectures are eh but he is really nice and accommodating.
Many extra credit options. Amazingly responsive and caring. Weekly quizzes. Exam every 3 weeks. Plenty of chances to understand work and pass class. Requires several hours a week to get work done. Keep in mind final is taken at school and requires a proctor and is over entire semester. Do not need a book for this class. Read syllabus carefully.
Took Professor P's class online for the summer. He provides power-points of the topics, notes on the topic and videos explaining the notes. He also provides external resources for videos. Majority of the assignments are the best of 2 attempts, he uses the discussion board on blackboard very effectively when it comes to assistance on questions.
Solid choice for Calculus one. I took him for the 5 week late summer course, and it was leagues better than some of the math classes I've taken in the past. The lectures are understandable, and thorough. The reviews adequately prepare you for the tests. Be respectful, show up for class every day, and pay attention ... you will get an A.
It's a math class so homework is expected. I took the class online & was nervous about taking an online math class but his online lectures were awesome. I did have to work to get my A but it is definitely doable if you are willing to put in the work necessary for a math class. 10/10 Would take him again!
If you do the work, and stay on top of your assignments there is no reason to not pass the class! There is 5 modules and each module has a test and if you do and study the assignments youll be fine. Hes funny & is open to questions. Would recommend him for sure! For Finite Math take him.
stay on top of your assignments and you should do fine. There's 5 modules, exam in each module. Gives lots of resources, no book needed. Teach yourself type of class, but is available whenever needed. Gives more than enough time to do every module, study study study! Lots of extra credit available.
This is a hard class, nothing against the professor, he simply just gave the assignments that came with the class. I took his online class, the homework and quizzes are not hard. He gives you two chances to pass them, and provides the answers to you the second time. If you fail the homework section, you just didn't try. His test are hard!
Professor pinegar was the best ever professor i ever had for a maths class. I took him for finite maths, he makes the class look so easy by showing us various tricks and methods in solving problems.
This class is best taken online as he demonstrate every chapters on his notes. Very few examples are shown. The great thing I appreciate is that he allows a cheat sheet for every exam so you don't have to memorize formulas. Assignments are helpful and his feedback really helps you understand the concepts and how to solve problems.
Best taken online. Prof. Pinegar presents material the same as he would for an online class. The tests are difficult. He goes over material quick for example he does not go over a review for a test but he is already working on the next unit to cover. extra credit. If you're good at math to take him. does not work the problem out completely.
he leaves a lot of homework (a lot), and I feel that he doesn't explain enough where you can easily understand. you need to learn on your own. you can do extra credit in his class..
Rude, has lecture videos for you to watch. Doesn't want to answer questions. Believes if you watch his videos you should not have any questions. We are paying tuition for somebody to teach us, not us teaching ourselves. Gives extra credit so that is a plus
Hands down one of the best Professors Ive ever had. Hes extremely nice and willing to work with his students. Talking about due dates he is not strict on that at all. One of the most important things was that his lectures were very helpful. 100% recommended.
He is pretty good. Gives ton of resources and personal video lectures. DB are extra credit as well as question platform. Extra chances on HW, Tip-do HW print out use to study. Hard to fail unless you do nothing. Just make sure to keep up with work. Final exam is via zoom. He is overall pretty good and helpful.
Even though CALC 2 is difficult I have nothing bad to say about the Prof its more the way his class is set up that I didn't like. He doesn't use a 3rd party website for the HW or Exams. They are done on BB gives u the opportunity for extra credit. Also the vids that he has were terrible but gives u links to other vids. Overall not a terrible Prof
If you need Cal 1, take his online class! There are 5 modules that have 4-6 homework assignments, a review quiz and a test. Lectures are given, followed by 1-2 assignments. You have 3 weeks to complete each. You get multiple attempts on homework. Make sure to stay on top of everything and be prepared to put in the work! Taking his cal 2 class!
Amazing professor! He is extremely fair, strict on due dates, fast-paced (4 tests and a final), and very personable even online. I understood 95% of all the lectures (after no math classes for over a year). 100% recommend him if you have to take calc. Plus he gives a lot of extra credit on tests (tests correlate with hw a lot).
Challenging but rewarding course with a fair, personable professor. Lots of extra credit and resources provided. Unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for test prep. Put in the work and you'll do great!
