Dude is just too cool and easy. Study off his lecture notes and not the text. I didn't even buy the text and still got B...
too boring, but gives lots of extra credit, if your gonna do the EC then take him. 75pts extra credit will give you an A
Robinson is the man. Some of these previous comments must be made by squares. You can get an 87% and that is an A-. Great grading scale. Not going to class to get notes hurt me but i still got a B. Recommend
Hes a surfer, and likes to take days off to do sd. His grading scale is very easy, but his classes remind me of taking Art because all his lectures points are made in drawings, tests are not hard if you study, Drops your lowest test and doubles your high.
This class was awesome. He's easy going and knows his stuff. He's a surfer dude and talks like any 20 year old surfer guy talks, only he's like 30 something. Writes notes as he talks so it's easy to stay with him. Study for tests and you'll do fine.
Looks like Tony Hawk.Does not take attendance. Tests are not that easy, but he curves to everyones benefit. Worth taking.
test are hard! Eye candy! yummie!
Tests are hard and have not thing to do with with lectures. He is not very helpful if you come for help. Disorganized.
Cool Teacher. He's a surfer, so he talks about it time to time. The subjects are hard in nature, so just take really good notes. His test are kind of hard. If you study your notes you'll be fine in his class. Easy research paper too.
this class sucked. tests are too hard. This is coming from an "A" student. Unorganized!
I give him a D.
I give him an F. He should be retired. Unorganized.
First test sucked, almost 80% of 200 people got a C or worse...avoid this surfer like a flat wave
Tests are difficult. Extremely rude when you go and speak with him during his office hours. Make sure you bring an extra pencil and paper, he may ask you for them. Awful teacher!
Lectures mostly through document presenter, many visual aids. Tests based mainly on notes taken in class, some text. Easy A if you take good notes and study them. Very laid back cool dude.
lectures are jumbled and apparently impromptu, he recommends not using the book to study, most of the material is not that complicated but the way it is presented in class and tested on in exams is confusing to say the least.
Alot of people don't like him but I thought he was cool.Hint: stay in class until the end & he usually gives out answers to the upcoming test. Class is kinda boring. BIG CURVE! Go to every class and take notes and you'll do fine.
Two Mid-terms and a final exam, plus a paper that he gives 90-95% of the students full credit on just if it flows. Tests can be difficult so you need to go to class, but he takes questions from the lectures. You will do well if you go to class and stay!
HE RECOMMAND TO STUDY FROM LECTURE NOTES AND NOT THE BOOK. BUT ON THE TEST HIS TEST DOES NOT ALWAY MATCH HIS NOTES, SO IT COULD BE CONFUSING. IF TAKE THIS CLASS OVER, I WOULD APPLY FOR CREDIT AND NONE CREDIT , BECAUSE IS VERY EASY TO GET "C" IN
VERY DISORGANIZED!!!!
This class was so intereting! If you like geology take this course. Not as unorganized as most say and makes lectures easy to follow along. Study lecture notes as well as the book for tests and it is easy to get an A.
Easy class. Does notes in class so you can easily follow along. Tests are pretty basic and usually never out of the book. Drops lowest midterm grade, and gives a 50 point 10 page extra credit paper which was easy to do. Huge curve, and is a good guy.
Really boring lecture, with too many crazy diagrams. 3 tests and a paper, all moderately easy. Cool surfer dude.
Like old surfer dudes, this is your guy. Easy lectures and such a cutie pie!
Chill guy. Very interesting subject. Make sure you go to class till the end. Take ALOT of notes for the exams. Easy B
Pretty easy A if you go to class and copy absolutely everything that he writes down. If you don't go, you can go to his office and copy the notes. Really nice guy, not all that interesting class
Terrible. Who thought Nat. Disasters would be hard. Hard to understand and hard to study for the tests. I failed each test miserably and still got a C (crazy curve) but he is so unclear. Don't take
He is so into what he teaches. T-shirt and dirty tevas is what he will wear to class. Take good notes and read the book to get a good grade. He will always stop lectures to answer questions.
he really loves what he teaches, but his tests are kind of hard. Sometimes it is hard to follow him in lecture, goes off on tangents. His curve is pretty cool - 85 = A!! so it isnt hard to pass the class!
Cool guy, didnt even use the book and almost got an A. Easy and interesting, just take good notes.
His apparent love for the subject shows...extrememly interesting class. I learned a lot, and would take from him again! He's well organized, and the class was a very do-able A.
Easiest class ever. Don't buy book. Tests are based on lecture notes, which he writes out for you. Just copy what he writes and you'll do fine. One easy 3 page paper. Drops lowest test score. Curve is 85% = A.
This professor promised me extra creditfor adding another student to his course. He did not keephis word and brushed me off each timeI brought it up.
I don't care if his grading scale is easy-doesn't make a good teacher. Lectr is on a whim, and unorganized. Tests are based on lectr, so tests are unorganized. Tchr won't accept when wrong or when arguments made about unclear test questions. Needs to be more on the ball.
okay class. Easy overall yet tests are some what difficult. Easy note taking, okay to miss a couple of classes, boring at times, nice professor. Funny and self-effacing at times. Pleasant demeanor.
He knows this subject and is into each and every topic. He uses recent events and compares them with past history. His notes are the study guide for every test. Go to class, take good notes, and you will do well. Information he teaches is awesome if you want to know about this planet.
Totally cool guy, even if he doesn't always have all the right information... hehe. You can tell he's an old school surfer dude, and it shows in his laid back attitude. This class was interesting, and there are online quizzes to help you study. DO THEM! And read the book. Not everything is in notes!
TAKE A DIFFERENT TEACHER. There are easier Nat Dis. Teachers. His tests are too hard. For example: How long will it take the ocean crust to move 2400km at 6cm a year. I hope you remember conversion tables from chemistry 40,000,000 years. He also expects you to calc. spec. like half of wobble etc
class is way easy! Didn't read the book and got an A. Just do the online quizes and study the notes. Very laid back and helpful outside of class.
I agree with 12/14 entry. His exam questions weren't particular, either, which they need to be for a science class-if arguable, how can you answer a question on a multiple choice exam. Also nds to get papers handed back by last class so students have idea on grade. NOT a good or organized teacher.
I dug this class and it was EZ too. Prof R will give you xtra help if needed.-Very accesible
Very laid back teacher, can get an A if you put in just a little bit of effort, some of his test questions did not seem to come from the notes even though he based his test on them, fun class though.
Really cool guy. You can tell he likes what he does. I've takes a simular class before which made getting an A a breeze. Goto class study 1-2 hours before midterms and final and garantee yourself a B or an A. Tests are hevily curved 85%~A 80~A- 75~b 70~b- and so on.
really laid back. Huge curve. No reason you can't get an A or B.
If you don't get an A in this class, you didn't study. And for the guy who thinks conversions are hard, it's common sense. The Prof is really into this class and is a helpful guy.
This guy rocks. Just go to class and you'll do fine. Goes by the notes, big curve and getting a B should be no problem. Very accessible. Cool dude also w/ pretty fun material and videos.
Not a hard class. Never really went and got a B. Tests are basicallly all from notes. I never even used the book, but you may want to if your looking for an A, i was happy with a B.
This class is a cake walk. It must be impossible to fail (50% = C, 85% = A). If you go to class everyday and do all the writings which are C/NC, then you can have 20-30 points extra credit. The tests are easy if you just pay attention and take notes in class. This is the easiest exploration along with TFM363
Ok class... tests are ok, can be a little tricky but there's a nice curve, just take good notes
dude, this teacher rocks! he's awesome, laid back, all he wants is his students to pass his class and he makes it sooo easy. do online quizzes, i didn't even read the book and i did fine... best curve ever, like an F is a C basically so there's no way someone can fail the class..he's awesome i highly recommend him! he's totally laid back.
This class is great for an upper division GE. Robinson is chill and his grading is even better. 20% of every test comes from some questions online so study those and you'll do fine. lots of notes but nothing difficult, some water vapors, earthquakes and whatnot. good class.
85% to get an A. Don't need the book. Good lecturer. You don't belong in college if you can't get an A in his class!
FYI= The three tests that he gives are floating around. I found this out after the first one. (This was about 3 years ago, so things may have changed) Usually around the time of the tests people will be passing them around the class.
His Natural Disasters class rocks the house! He's way easier than other Natural Disasters. Not only that there is no homework assignments and the grading curve is absurde. An A = 85%. His tests are more on lecture than on book, but you must read the book for some minor detial relating to his lectures. That said, he's a definite must take.
Fairly easy class as far as getting a good grade goes. The information & the tests are kinda hard, but the grading scale is to ur advantage. An 85% is an A! & the final is optional. I missed some class & didn't understand all of the material, but I did the online questions & studied a little & ended up with an A in the class w/out taking the final
Take good detailed notes-- don't just write down the words he puts on board, but make extra notes so you'll remember when u look over your notes-- & you'll get an A. Don't need to read/buy book. The majority of the tests come from lecture. There's a huge curve for each exam. I just studied my detailed notes & got an A w/o taking final.
He offers the test questions, will let you retake tests, he gives you all the information and you barely have to attend...good class...take it...easy grading scale!
So easy...don't buy book. He is cool just go to class and take notes. Also lots of questions from book author's website. 4 tests that is it with super lenient grading curve.
Rediculously easy grading curve. Class is somewhat necessary to attend for your own sake but he doesnt care. I went to class about 25% of the time and got a B so im sure an A isnt out of reach. 5 exams, you can drop the lowest score or not take the final. Would def reccomend
Fun and easy class. Grades on a "curve" and most of the test is online as practice tests. Just do the online stuff and do NOT get the book (just a waste of $100). I didn't buy the book and just did the online stuff and studied my notes and got an A.
Professor Robinson is fantastic!! The class was more interesting than it had to be. Information was right on when knowing what had to be on the tests. Also learning some interesting ocean stuff along the way.
This is the easiest class I have EVER taken. You have to really try to get a bad grade. Show up to class and you'll get an A. Offers extra credit and notes on tests. There are a lot of quizzes, but they're easy. Uses a magazine for the text($7.00). He's a good teacher, knows his material, and is interesting. Lets class out early a lot.
This is the 2nd class I've taken with Kevin. Fun, loves to teach, surf, writes notes, but still need to listen to his lecture. no need to read book. 4 tests (harder than you might think, though), drops 1, huge curve. understanding and accommodating. Would take again.
K-rob is a cool teacher. Its a pretty easy class...but just make sure you really study for the tests they can be tricky..and sometimes it seems easier than it is! overall...its an easy A OR B
I took this because it was supposed to be easy. Lies. He's tricky and his lectures are very hard to follow. Seems like a cool "dude". He abides by the bell curve heavily. The entire class basically got B's and C's, which might suffice for some people but I don't find that encouraging.
This is suppose to be a fun, easy class but it's not. The tests are really hard and in depth, but the Prof never lectures,he just talks and goes off into tangents. The only thing that will save you is the huge curve. don't buy the book it won't help.
k rob is an awesome guy! very approachable if you have any questions.grading curve is ridiculous! 85% is an A.Four midterms and an optional final, which are easy if you go to class, pay attention, take notes and do the practice quizzes online and you should do just fine. This class kinda scares you too.You can die at any moment from a meteor impact.
Easy? No way. I don't mind working for an "A" but his lectures do not prepare you for the depth of the questions on the test. He seems like a great guy but his lectures are all over the place. Questions on the test do not reflect the lecture. He must assume you know much more on the subject than you do because test questions are ridiculously hard.
I had never had a teacher quite like Prof. Robinson. His lectures are all over the place, the questions on the tests do not go with his lectures, some of the stuff on tests it seems like we never covered in class. He's a nice guy, but having a nice prof. doesn't help much when you actually want to learn and pass the class.
He is SO weird. He acted like the class was a joke-he missed class, cancelled class, acted like it was so easy, we had nothing to worry about. He wasn't clear about the subject at all. Then, the tests were ridiculously hard, and none of us remembered learning most of it. He did give us a lot of in-class extra credit which still somehow got me an A!
EASIEST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN. MAY AS WELL BEEN IN HIGH SCHOOL. IF YOU PLAN ON TAKING ALOT OF CREDITS IN ONE SEMESTER, TAKE THIS CLASS BECAUSE YOU HARDLY HAVE TO WORK AT ALL. GO TO CLASS. STUDY THE NIGHT B4 THE TEST & you WILL GET A SOLID B. UNLESS YOU ARE STUPID.
I'm not a science major, yet even I found the class interesting. The material was streight forward. The teacher was approchable, but the lectures were a little drawn out. Go to all the classes or read the book. If you do one of these you will pass with flying colors.
I THOUGHT HE WAS COOL. JUST READ THE BOOK AND YOU LEARN SO MUCH. IT IS A VERY INTERESTING CLASS. THE QUESTIONS ON THE TEST WERE A BIT DEEPER THAN THE GENERAL CONCEPTS YOU GET FROM READING THE CHAPTERS IN THE BOOK. IT HELPS TO HAVE A SMART BUDDY IN CLASS TO HELP GUIDE YOU ON THE FINAL EXAM PRIOR TO THE TEST
Topic seemed interesting, but turned out not to be. The tests are somewhat difficult, but the grading scale is very accomodating. Definitley do not need the book for this class (and I am someone that always buys books).
I took his Oceanography and enjoyed it so much (and it was so easy) I took this one too to fill units. Didn't really like this one though. Tests were a bit harder. Subject matter was kind of blan. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK. You will never need it. Still a pretty easy class + he grades on his version of a curve.
This class was more difficult than I thought it would be but it was really rewarding. The class was very interesting. Doesn't require attendance but if you miss a day you miss a lot of info. Read the book and you will do fine.
Class was harder than I expected. Read the book, do online quizzes, stay awake in class and you'll do alright. He kinda rambles, so make sure you bring coffee.
IF YOU ARE GOING TO TAKE THIS CLASS TAKE IT WITH SOMEONE ELSE. ATTENDANCE ISN'T MANDATORY BUT MANY EXAM QUESTIONS ARE FROM NOTES THAT AREN'T IN THE BOOK. HE DOES NOT HAVE A STUDY GUIDE AND THE FINAL IS COMPREHENSIVE WITH TWO NEW CHAPTERS FROM LAST TWO DAYS OF CLASS. TAKE ANOTHER PROF!
Kevin is a great teacher. His explanations of Science things are very understandable and well spoken. He goes through all the notes with the entire class on the projector, uses a lot of pictures, and shows videos. Great class, very intersting. Make sure you come to class, even though not required!!
notes are everywhere. he is really hard to follow. you have to read the book to do well on his tests. go to his office hours for the final and copy all the previous test questions and answers cuz thats all that he uses for the final. no need to go to class since you won't be able to follow your own notes.
Pretty boring class, and most of the time you won't know what he's talking about. Tests are hard but they are curved. Overall, I would say if you need to take this class, take it w/him for the curve alone. 55% is a C-, so it's pretty much impossible to fail. I ended up with a C+ in the class w/out studying that much.
This class was fun. We were suppose to be a big class, but there were only 20 of us when there were suppose to be like 250. 4 midterms, alot of notes. study them get A's. His other classes were huge, but they didn't pay attention and bombed the tests, but we were his best class no one got less than a D. He was always eatting we all had fun.
Taking lower division geol or geog certainly helps if you plan to take his class as an upper division general ed. If you actually GO to class and take notes, you will be able to pass this class. I took this in the summer term. Not an "easy A", but very interesting class.
His lecture is not clear. I went to the class with questions after reading the book, thinking the questions would be answered after his lecture. Not at all. Then I went to his office hour, he did not want to help.Bad professor!!!
Kevin is totally cool and laid back. His grading scale is off the hook. You don't have to go to class but he gives a lot of notes and the tests are based on the notes. Don't buy the book! 2 essays that are totally easy! Great Class!!
Professor Robinson is by far the most interesting professor at SDSU. If you attend class, participate, his class is worth taking. Aswell, his dedication to his students is extraordinary and he is a very fair grader. He is all about the students! Contrary to other teachers at SDSU. He is a valuable asset to the SDSU faculty
He is a great instructor. I wish I could take him for more classes. He is awesome. The tests come from the practice questions he posts on blackboard. Easy class but I still learned a lot. I am sad to be finished with the class on Tuesday (final exam)
This class was fun and an easy A. Just go to class and you will do fine. If you are challenged by this class, go back to high school. It doesn't get any better than this for an elective.
Natural Disasters was the easiest class I've taken since High School. I showed up every class just because I liked it. But if you only showed up for exams, you could still do well. I did read the book some, but if you do the practice quizzes, the exams follow those pretty closely. Very easy A if you go to class and take the practice quizzes.
He is such an awesome professor!!! Totally laid back, the class was actually really interesting and I wanted to go to it! Two easy papers which he barely grades, tests are really easy just do the practice questions and you'll be good to go!
Fantastic class! I didn't think I would like this subject (I took it only to satisfy a requirement), but I really enjoyed going to class. If you write down the notes he provides in class, do your 2 easy papers, and go through the practice quizzes it is hard not to get an A. Very chill guy, easy on the eyes. Would totally recommend this class.
natural disasters one of the best classes i have taken. very interesting class so u actually want to go plus hes a great teacher. take notes in class, ready chapter summaries and study practice questions and ull pass tests with flying colors. essays are easy to, take this class if you can, great class great teacher!
This class was easy. He has 2 exams, a paper and a final. All scantron tests. HE told us in class if you turn in a paper you would get full credit as long as you put some effort into it. He was super chill. I hardly went to class and got a C+. If you study I'm sure you can do better than that. Take his class!
The subject matter is very cool. The book: not so much. Most of the tests come from the quizzes he has on blackboard. Memorize those and you will kick ass. Teacher is cool, sometimes annoying as he teaches like an overly nervous 10th grader's oral report. he's passionate and interested in his subject so that's refreshing. overall good class.
Damn this class sucked. I seriously went only on test days and the day after to get my exam. Do the blackboard quizzes, study them-memorize them because the exams are similiar to those questions. Just recognize the words in the question and you will be able to choose the right answer in most cases on the exam. Take his Wednesday night class-IgotC+
EASY. Got an A-, get to drop a test score. Swap quizzes with someone else and it's 90% of the test questions. Nice guy, likes to ramble and REALLY gets into his stories. Get to retake all quizzes and keep best score before final, do the paper and you get full credit.
Genuinely nice guy! Very helpful. A little unorganized, but knows what he's teaching very well. Sometimes TOO well, because he tends to go off on random tangents.
good teacher
Science is really not my thing...but I really enjoyed this class. He is so passionate, knowledgable, and very interesting teacher. The tests are based of quizzes so swap quizzes with several people. One easy paper, quizzes every week, and 2 tests. Awesome Teacher and good Gen. Ed class
Good teacher. Funny guy. Do the black board quizzes and print them out. Memorize them. You can use them on the in class quizzes aswell. Memorize the in class quizzes, pretty much the test is made up of online quizzes and in class quizzes. One paper that is cake.
great class! sometimes didn't show up and not tell you which can be frustrating. No need for book, just take online quizzes and class quizzes and tests are basically verbatim. class is fun, really into subject and knows his stuff! one easy paper that is actually kind of fun. go to class and do quizzes and you will be fine!
Not an easy class, but you can easily get at least a C-. Exams are hard, but 70% based on his online quizzes which you can take at any time during the semester. No homework, but 1 big essay with another 1 as optional for x-tra credit. You will use the textbook only for online quizzes but not for class. Just study the online quizzes. Class is ok.
Very easy and fun class. I learned a lot and enjoyed it the entire time. He failed to show up a couple days for an 8am class so that kinda sucked but over all a great teacher. Very interesting videos and an extremely easy A. Take online quizzes and PRINT THEM OUT.
The majority of the time I never went. The in class quizzes are derived from the online quizzes. Make sure to bring the book and print out the quizzes prior to the exam. and dont miss the 1st quiz, its 50 point for free.
Kevin really knows his information. Take the online quizzes and print them out for the in-class quizzes. These in-class quizzes are open note and you work in groups. The exams are based on the online and in-class quizzes. There's one paper that's based on one of the videos, and an extra credit paper you can do also.
EASY CLASS. 5 quizes, which are open book/notes/work in groups (you can even drop the lowest score). 2 exams, which are harder (not open notes). and then there are online quizes, which you get 3 tries to take, and you see the answers after each quiz. The grading scale is adjusted too, a C is 60%, i took the class for CR/NC, got like 65% and passed.
In-class quizzes based on online quizzes, which you can take 3 times. One easy paper, another for extra credit. Only need 60% for a C. I passed with an A- and only showed up to class half the time. He really enjoys what he teaches. Very interesting class. Fair grader.
Tons of busy work like drawing maps, going to the birch aquarium, etc. Quizzes are basically free extra credit. Exams can be difficult since there is a massive amount of info he throws at you. His lectures are info overload, but he posts the slides on BB. Final is a gimme in that it is made up of previously asked questions. Curved 90=A 85=A- etc.
Professor Robinson is sort of easy. He makes this class seem a little harder than it really is. 4 exams and a final. off campus assignment to the Birch Aquarium. study his slides and pop quizes, dont buy the book! you dont really use it. show up to every class and you'll be fine
My favorite class. Best professor at SDSU. Oceans 320, and all other classes in the Earth Sciences Department at this university are insightful eye-openers.
this guy is useless. He is unorganized, he fails to tell you what he is gonna test you on so you have basically nothing to study with. He lectures on stuff he tests you on in the same day. The only good thing about this guy is his grading scale but you're gonna need the huge curve because you'll be completely lost the whole semester. stay away
This teacher isnt that bad. I mean, an 85% an A! come on! easy grading scale though he isnt clear on what he tests on but he does give you group quizzes and open book quizzes. I didnt expect a science class would be this easy. If you want an easy B take him, its a little bit more difficult to get an A though.
HAHAHA.... This class is a joke I went to this class 8 times out of the whole semester. The grading scale is easy. This class is huge like 300 people. 8AM is really hard to get up for. 4 tests 1 final no pop quizzes eventhough he might say there will be. Dont buy the book you wont need it at all. Use the tests on blackboard and you will get an A
Somewhat disorganized in his teaching and blackboard usage. Though this may result in your grade suffering, he makes up for it by grading easy on assignments. Additionally, he'll make tests easy and will give you free points for being in class. Textbook isn't necessary, lecture notes include everything you need to know.
Robinson teaches several different sections for Natural Disasters. The 3 day a week is SO MUCH HARDER than the once/twice a week meetings. I had a friend who had it really easy in the other class. All his exams questions are from lecture if you listen. In the 3 meetings a week you have Online quizzes, 4 exams, and a few pop quizzes.
This is such an easy class. If you just do all the online quizzes, the tests have the same exact questions.
Robinson is such a cool teacher. He was a still acts as the old surfer type and I wouldnt be suprised if he indulged in a large amount of mj in his free time. All answers to onlines quizzes can be found in a word doc without much searching online. This is his last semester and claims he will make it fun and eaiser. Best Upper div GE for sure.
Robinson is an excellent teacher. Lots of reading, a couple lab assignments and pop quizzes. Pop quiz questions are often on seen again on the exams. He shows a few movies of typhoons and waves. He's laid back and funny which makes lectures easy to sit through. Exams aren't easy but fair. Easy to do well if you attend class and do the reading.
I thought this professor was great! He's pretty funny and he usually makes the information interesting. His lectures didn't include a ton of information... I would recommend reading the book... but the tests are pretty much easy. I think most of them were group or open book tests. If you read the book, this class is an easy A.
He is very laid back, the slides are a lot of pictures, just take notes and make sure attend bc the pop quizzes are usually word4word the tests. overall the class was pretty interesting and kevin was cool to learn from. easy homework assignments and online quizzes can be taken 3 times, easy A. also drops lowest test grade.
Great class, very relaxing & interesting. Attendance is optional but highly recommended for a good grade. Clickers are required for tests but textbook is optional, uses power-points instead. Study for the tests since those basically determine your grade (lowest test dropped). Do that and you should get at least an A- (85%), if not an A like me =D.
Horrible teacher, never comes to class prepared. Online quizzes and pop-quizzes are not even helpful. Gives no preparation for the exams and just shows powerpoints with pictures for no reason. Waste of time.
KRob is awesome. He just wants you to learn something, and keeps it simple. But he really does teach you something. Interesting class. No book. If you don't get an A, then you're just way lazy.
I got an A but did not learn anything. No book required. Disorganized class. Lectures are random, does not follow the schedule of the syllabus.
Worst teacher ever. I've emailed him 5 times asking for help and he NEVER responded. He messed up my final grade and has still not responded to my email about it. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HIM!!
He does not come prepared all of the time, but it is an interesting class. He is a nice guy that means well. The class is not that hard and you can get an A if you try. He is not a bad professor to take for this class. I liked the class in the end.
Doesn't follow his syllabus. Beginning of class he said a test was dropped, later in the semester he said 2 quizzes were dropped, in the end only ONE quiz was dropped. His questions he'll have you study will completely change for the test. He never emails you back. No textbook, clicker required. I'd take a different GE requirement.
This guy was pretty awesome! Easy to get an A, just do the study guide and you can get decent grades on the tests. All there were only 3 assignments and all were super easy. I got a B+, but could have easily gotten an A had I gone to class. He's super chill and down to earth. Take this class!
Easy, fun class! No textbook! it's online! He dropped one midterm test and helped with study guide. I believe he is not teachin this class anymore only online but he is definitely a great teacher and shows passion in the course.
Laid back class. Lectures with power points. The information can be very dry at times, and he will even admit it. Bright side is that he has reasonable expectations of what you should learn and doesn't just make you memorize, memorize, memorize. Often times, he will kind of ramble, so it's hard to follow, but overall, easy and interesting.
Kind of boring, but not to hard 4 exams, get a page of notes front and back for each
His class is really easy to pass. There are 4 exams and for each one you get a front and back cheat sheet which is super helpful because you get a "study guide" a couple days before each test. Everyone in my class created a google doc and im sure everyone got good grades. The information is somewhat boring if you have no interest but easy class.
K-Rob is the best! class isn't mandatory, no textbook needs to be purchased. look over the study guide before the test and you'll do fine!
Take good notes, and make sure you understand the whole study guide! Kevin wants the class to enjoy the lectures, and he does what he can to keep the class interested. Great class, great professor
k-rob is awesome! very easy just read study guides before test
He is awesome, funny, nice, and willing to help! No textbook required. Tests aren't too bad, but at least look over the study guide a bit to be safe.
I get that this teacher is probably awesome. But he has no idea how to do online classes. Content, study guides, and tests don't correlate in the least and organization is non existent. Avoid online classes
I was disappointed that this prof wasn't as chill as the reviews make him out to be. True, this was an online class, but he was very disorganized and the questions on quizzes and exams don't pertain to the activities he has us do. I managed to get out of this class alive, and learn some things, but most of it went over my head.
Disorganized, says "um" a lot during lectures. The prof always answered my emails fast. The course is difficult but it IS an UPPER DIVISION GE class. Even with all the difficulty, I still have an A and I'm not a genius. This class is NOT about memorizing info, its about understanding. If you're going to whine and complain, don't take this class.
You need to take REALLY GOOD NOTES during lecture. ANSWER the STUDY GUIDES! Questions on test are not exactly as the ones in the study guide, but similar. Make sure to know the contest, not by heart, but at least understand. Your grade is based on 3 tests, so make sure you do good on those, you don't want to repeat a GE.
Absolutely livid. Highly disorganized and made my semester completely difficult with the endless technical difficulties. I was given a B- when I should have recieved a B+. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Class looks very easy but the exams are super difficult. If you try you will get at least a B. I recommend if you don't want a class to attend at all. The lectures do not help much.
HORRIBLE PROFESSOR. all his powerpoints were only pictures and he would ramble about useless information. write down EVERYTHING even if he says it is not going to be on the test because it will.. trust me! he gives a study guide but his tests don't even match up. this class is definitely not your easy A. I regret taking him!!
This is good class if you attend and take good notes. Three curved exams. Do the reading and study = A. Not all material on test covered in lecture so do the reading! Our class suffered because some lectures were cancelled. Prof Robinson is easy going and approachable if you have questions.
Loved the class, partially because I really like Geology. You don't need the book at all, and you'll do fine if you go to class, take notes, and study for the three (curved) tests.
Great professor! Really helpful and gave plenty of extra credit opportunities. I was intimidated by the course so i took it as a pass/no pass. Wish i took it for a grade!!!
Kevin Robinson is probably one of the best professors on campus. Interesting lectures, and no ridiculous busy work. Getting a "B" in the class, should be an "A". No long term papers like other professors, and awsssome slides!!! Must Take!!!!
Good class- he is semi unorganized but nothing that you can't work around. Class is NOT hard- it's quite a bit of material but the weekly quizzes you can take twice. Besides that it's just weekly articles he assigns with a lecture and a quiz. Midterm and Final. Very straightforward and easy to pass if you do the work. No textbook.
Easy class, he doesn't really seem to care about making anyone actually work. Save all of your answers to the quizzes because he pulls the questions straight from that for the test. No book needed, which was nice. BUT I had an 89.6% in the class, and he would not round it up to an A. Seriously?
Very great professor and very enjoyable class. Made me enjoy the subject. Thanks professor Robinson. Ali Samad
1 quiz per chapter (12 chapters) weekly in which you have 2 chances to take and 2 hours to complete (20 questions) and 3 long exams (every 4th quiz, 60 questions, 2 hours to complete, 1 chance to take). A lot of stuff to read and watch online, but it's an online class, what do you expect?
Do you want an A??? If yes, take this class. It really is that easy. No textbook required. Answer the study guide and you have the answers for the test. That simple
Not a super hard class, but harder than other online classes I've taken. Quizzes can be taken twice, which is cool. Save all your quiz answers because many of the test questions are taken directly from the quizzes!
Easy A. At first it may seem like a more difficult online class, then you realize how easy it is after you get the hang of things. Most quiz questions come from the study guides. Midterm and Final questions are all from previous quizzes. You can also go back and look over previous quizzes you've taken. And there is no textbook for this class!
Amazing professor. He is extremely knowledgable on everything he lectures on. Class is not mandatory but will help you big time on the quizzes. 10 quizzes per semester 200 points. Midterm100 points Finals100 points. The midterm/final are 50 questions, all of which come from the quizzes which he allows you to review online. Final not cumulative.
didn't respond to questions via email (the only way i could contact him) obscure questions, inconsistent. do not recommend
This class was interesting and easy! 2 attempts per quiz and the average of your 2 attempts is your final quiz score. The exams are recycled quiz questions but you only get 1 attempt for those. The quiz answers came straight from the lectures and slides and there's no comprehensive final. No textbook either! Thanks K-Rob
Mr Kevin Robinson is a cool teacher, the class is easy, no attendance required, quizzes covered tests. We had access to his online lectures, and the text book was provided to us for free online, quizzes good for study guide. Unless you are a Geology major, the class might be a little boring, but it was a chill relaxing class.
KRob is so chill. I really enjoyed every class I went to. Going to class is not mandatory, he posts his class online so you really only need to go on test days but he gives you clues if you go in class for the tests. The only rough part is the mid term was super tough but the final was super easy, and he made it sound like it would be the opposite.
Kevin is an awesome teacher in that he does not expect specifics. As a geology class, there can be a lot of boring information, but he makes sure to keep it interesting. His lectures are more of him thinking out loud and he clarifies any questions. An online quiz every week (EASY) a mid term (Hard) and a final (EASY). Posts textbook online.
Honestly the worst professor I have ever had. He completely ignores emails and makes excuses. DOES NOT follow dates on the syllabus. Tries to trick you on exams with confusing wording/answers. I would not recommend at all. Waste of a semester did not enhance my education.
Here's the thing, the class is not hard but you need to read what he assigns and make sure you understand the material before taking the quizzes or tests. It seems like a lot of work at the beginning but you will realize that it really isn't after the first quiz.
This class is great. He is very passionate about geology and you can tell he is disappointed when nobody shows up to lecture. Lectures are not mandatory, and you can seriously get an A on the exams just by studying the online quiz questions. All of his quiz' are on quizlet, but he changed some of the answers so beware. Hes funny and down to earth.
This professor definitely knew what he was talking about. Attendance is not mandatory at all, but you can tell he gets upset when nobody shows up. The midterm was a lot harder than the final (which ended up being recycled quiz questions). This was an easy and interesting class and I wish more teachers were as passionate as he is. Textbook is free.
My online class complained about him but this class is an easy A. You take quizzes every week but nothing you can't find. If you think a teacher with over 400 online students is going to reply right away then your common sense isn't so common. I would definitely take him online again. I work, had a full semester, and getting an A was cake.
You can find everything (answers/lectures) online, which makes it beyond easy/class isn't mandatory. Failed the midterm yet passed with a solid b. Study for the midterm and you'll get an A. He's a nice professor! Oh and no textbook is required!
SUPER EASY. Each unit has reading material and a lecture, and then you take the 20 question quiz. Every quiz answer is in the material, so actually read it. Got A' s on midterm and final. EASY. FYI, Robinson doesn't really answer emails if that matters to you.
He is very passionate about what he is teaching. Easy A. Do the quizzes and study them for the midterm and final and you are solid.
Ok kevin is the chillest person. I saw this fool a the beach with a cold beer and surf board. Anybody that teaches a class about rocks and lava doesn't give a shif. He has online quizzes every two weeks and you can easily find the answers on quizlet and in the provided e-book. He has 2 exams. As long as you memorize quizlet for the test u get an A.
You will see the most difficult questions if you engaged with this professor, the exam is very deep and specific and I am sure even him can not pass if he go through his exams. NOT recommended at all..
You have to have a full understanding of the material before going into the final if you want to do well. Lots of questions on the final, not enough time. Tricky questions on exams/quizzes as well. And sometimes the links to the material he gives you to read don't work.
Probably the worst course I've taken at SDSU so far. I'm sure an A is possible but it takes a lot of reading, re-reading, and lecture watching. Also watch out because a lot of the test questions are tricky. The final was very tough and previous exams and quizzes didn't help me prepare for it.
Do. Not. take. The final was absolutely ridiculous i had a 95 and it dropped me to a 88. GEs SHOULD NOT BE THIS HARD. I hope you are reading this robinson because it takes a special kind of person to make a final that difficult.
10/10 DONT RECOMMEND. everyone I talked to claimed it would be an easy A, readings for the exams are not helpful and the final was actually impossible. teacher missed deadlines often, and was very rude over email (when he actually responds to them).
All your grade consists of are quizzes, exams, and a cumulative final. Exams and quizzes were fairly easy but the cumulative final was definitely hard. Brought my grade down by 7%. But study the material, watch the lectures, read the articles and it should kind of help.
Easy class to just sit in and do other things because lectures are sometimes not interesting but he will mention a few things that will possibly be on exam. Study really well for midterm because the only points are midterm and final. He offered our class extra credit for attendance on random days. Practice quizzes aren't exactly whats on exams!!
100% do not recommend this course. Professor rarely responds to emails (and came off as rude), missed many deadlines, trick questions, extremely difficult cumulative final. This class is not an "easy A" by any means. Expect a lot of reading and preparing for exams and barely sliding by. Or not passing at all. Take another GE..
This class is pretty easy, you just have to make sure to study a lot since the your class grade is only determined by the midterm and the final. No homework or assignments to get extra points. You dont have to go to lecture to learn, However, he does give extra credit attendance points on random days.
MIDTERM IS 50% OF YOUR GRADE. FINAL IS 50% YOUR GRADE. He says attendance isn't mandatory but took a few attendance calls throughout the year for people who regularly attended to get extra credit. His lectures are not really related to the tests AT ALL and neither is the book. He curves substantially but it still sucked
The course is all online, and is based on weekly readings and quizzes. There are 4 midterms and one final. His questions are strangely worded which is what makes it hard. He does responds to emails really quickly though, and he does seem to care. He wants you to learn.
Lectures are kind of boring. Sometimes it was unclear on what we were taking notes on. Your grade is only based off of 3 exams, which can be pretty hard. However, he puts a lot of practice questions on them. We never used the textbook. He's a super chill guy though and knows what he's talking about.
Go to class because all the material is lecture. It was a chill class, but hard to prepare for. Info not well organized. Test prep Qs helped, but not really. Textbook not needed. He's chill, passionate, very knowledgeable. If you're not an auditory learner, don't take this class. Curves every test, and curves end grades. Medium difficulty.
Kevin is pretty chill but very unorganized. Ur grade will only be based off of 3 tests and don't even bother buying the textbook. His lectures can be confusing and long but as long as you really practice and study the quizzes he posts online you will be able to pass the tests. (He curves the tests and final grade).
There are only 3 tests in this class, so you never have homework and don't really need to go to class. He curved all of our tests and provided us with practice tests before the tests.
The class is intense solely due to the extensiveness of the reading. Control + F & Search A+. Promise.
Throughout the semester I kept my A in this class but on the final Robinson decided to throw in a bunch of trick questions and ended up bombing the final. Ended with a B+. Thank Kevin
Barely passed the class. Hardest class I have ever taken at college. I took it for an easy GE and it lowered my GPA and caused so much stress in my life. His notes are all over the place and the tests are SOOOOOOO hard. Do not take this.
Reading the material takes forever. Quizzes assigned every two weeks or so. Quizzes can be difficult. Tests are quite easy. Tests are made up of a pool of student made questions and quiz questions. Can be an easy A class, if you try.
Be prepared to work for your grade. By any means this class isn't a cake walk. Go to his office hours and study the past quizzes/exams then you'll pass the class. Just make sure to review the material before taking the exam. Kevin is helpful and will prepare you for the cumulative final.
This class is only graded by 3 tests, which include student questions and quiz questions that he posts on Blackboard (making the test easy if you study really well). That being said, you have the opportunity to write 4 exam questions throughout the semester for a max of 5 points. DONT BE LAZY, DO THE EXTRA CREDIT AND YOU WILL GET AN A.
He makes students make up difficult questions for extra credit points then bases all the exams off student made questions. Not a great teacher. Didn't respond to my emails and the whole class is based off of exams and quiz grades and extra credit questions. Would not take him again.
Very easy class! He has students make questions for extra credit and a few days before the midterms he will post 20-30 questions that he liked that will be on the exam. There are also optional online quizzes that don't affect your grade but if you take them and put them into a quizzlet to study they will be the other questions on the test.
EXTREMELY EASY CLASS. Went to class 5 times the whole semester, and 3 of those times were because of our tests and final. Remember to do his extra credit because you WILL get an A if you do so. He gives you 80% of the tests in study guides. Highly recommend this guy for any course you take
This was my least favorite class at state so far. It is only based off of 3 tests, which he gives you half the answers to, and then the other half is hard. The final brought my grade from an A to a B plus when I got a B on the final. It is important to do as much extra credit as you can to make up for the tests.
online quizzes and discussion questions make up about 80% of each test, also offers a good amount of extra credit. nice guy as well
Class was pretty easy. I felt bad for him because it was obvious he was upset with how little people actually showed up for class. A decent amount of extra credit and quizzes and midterms are pretty easy.
lectures a lot but you never really have to go i got a B and never went to class. The tests are difficult though especially if you don't attend class. You'll probably get an easy A if you go to class. I never used the book and he gave extra credit opportunities before each test. The class average is usually low for tests because of the difficulty
This professor is passionate but he goes off on so many tangents. Also, your grade depends solely on tests and quizzes. He is not too specific about whats on quizzes. He does give you half the answers on the midterms and final. Offers a good amount of extra credit.
Class was based on lectures that he posted on blackboard but are hard to understand unless he's explaining. Grade is based on 4 online quizzes, 2 midterms, and a final. He uses some of the questions from the quizzes on the midterms/final so just memorize the quizzes when studying. Material is kind of hard even when you're paying attention.
The content is all stuff he writes himself. The tests are pretty much all previous quiz questions. and the final is all previous questions as well. Create a doc with ALL past questions and you should be fine. Do the extra credit
Prof Robinson seemed to be using alot of his own experiences as course material. This along with random articles about the subject. The quizzes were very hard even after i took detailed notes on the material. The tests were okay. He uses student made questions, which i cant tell if this is creative or just lazy?
Robinson is overall a really chill guy. 4 online quizzes that are fairly easy, with 20 points ext. credit. Attendance isn't mandatory so its not too bad. Only thing I HATE IS THAT he has an exam 2 & ANOTHER cumulative final a week apart??? Very terrible for a GE? In class exams are TOUGH. Study your notes and quizlets and ill pray for you.
He is very difficult because his study questions are far off from the quiz and exam questions. There is not a textbook so it is hard to follow the main concepts of the class. I did not learn anything. The only upside to the course was the extra credit questions that go on the final and midterm.
Lectures make no sense, he does give an extra credit opportunity at the end of every unit, do it it will help, the class is based on 260 points 120 of those are earned on the last week.
Gives 2 quizzes a week along with 1 discussion board. The quiz answers are online so that part is pretty easy. The discussion boards require you to use the book and sometimes can be difficult to write about. Also gives LOTS of online lectures to watch which I personally didn't because the quiz answers were online. Overall decently easy class.
Textbook isn't necessarily needed, I used it to be more prepared for tests, but a lot of the material is just what he says in lectures, so it would be hard to pass if you don't go/take notes. It's not hard at all if you pay attention though. Easy GE.
Took it over the Summer and I honestly didn't get a lot out of it. The book it lengthy and the course content was confusing. You have to do discussion posts where you pose a quiz question + answers, which can be hard. He grades off discussion posts + quizzes (all online), so I put in 0 effort and got an A. Not an interesting class, but an easy GE
VERY difficult class and time-consuming. You are given the entire material for a two-week unit & then have to basically teach yourself (he is upfront about that from the beginning) then you take a unit test at the end of the two weeks. Content is hard, long and very tedious. No matter how prepared you are the tests never get easier.
Completely unprofessional. His lesson plans are filled with basic grammatical mistakes that often made me question whether or not they were written by an adult. Its abundantly clear that he puts zero effort into this class, and I honestly cant believe the school still allows him to teach it. Keep in mind, this is coming from a kid who got an A...
I took K-Rob for geology 100, and I honestly didn't think he was as bad of a teacher as everyone else is making him out to be. Yes his lectures were kinda boring, but Id like to see you make learning about rocks anymore interesting This class was also not that difficult. I skipped about half the lectures and still got an A
I never actually felt like he taught the material. His lectures are more like rants and are really boring. I had a hybrid class so we met once a week and the we'd have one lecture online to watch that were kind of repeats of the in class lectures. His BB quizzes were easy-ish. You can skip this class, you just need to teach yourself the material.
Honestly, going to class in person was too confusing as a not science-minded person. I only went to the two first lectures and ended up watching the lectures online because it was easier to follow. You will not pass the quizzes or tests if you are not looking at outside sources (i.e quizlet). Join a study group if you can, at least to commiserate
I'm a student with straight A's/B's and I wasn't really a big fan of his style of teaching. Usually, I have no issue coming to class but finding the motivation to go was really hard. I learned more in my lab class than the lectures. Your grade depends on 2 quizzes per unit and 3 exams (including the final which is one week after the 2nd exam)
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! Reading material is super dense and extremely hard to understand (SO MANY GRAMMATICAL ERRORS!) 6 quizzes and 2 exams, switched the quiz material up in the last 3 weeks and makes questions extremely complicated. Class average for last 2 quizzes was less than 10/20. Also super boring and he is not helpful at all, DO NOT TAKE!!
he's hard to get into contact with. i'll be honest. I didn't read anything and only looked up the answers to the quizzes on quizlet. he drops the lowest quiz anyway. I put no effort into this class and learned nothing, but all I wanted was a grade booster. my suggestion is to just copy and past the question into google and you'll get the answer.
Very sweet guy, but lectures are confusing sometimes and hard to follow. Exam questions are HARD- a lot of "all of the following are true except"), but they were open note (still hard haha). he is passionate and wants you to learn but i wasn't a huge fan of his lecturing style, it was a little unorganized. doesn't require super expensive textbook
WORST CLASS I'VE EVER TAKEN I have an A average in school but failed every single quiz or test in his class. He doesn't even speak in his online lectures, just gives boring long science articles and makes up study guide questions that he NEVER puts on the quiz. His questions are way to difficult and everyone did so poorly in this class. DO NOT TAKE
Nice guy, there are weekly quizzes but theyre all on quizlet. There are two exams and a final and theyre all old quiz questions that are on quizlet. Easy A
This class is based on 2 exams and couple quiz, nothing else. Most of them can find on Quizlet, so it is easy to get a B+ . He sometimes change the questions so you should find answer carefully.
Honestly just take another GE if possible, oceans320 is a lot of reading and material. Your grade is literally just 6 quizzes and two tests. The quiz questions always have a few that are near impossible even if you know the concept, just because of the way their worded. Trust me take another GE there are much easier ones.
I took ocean320 online as a summer class, & it was super easy. Weekly quizzes, every answer is on quizlet. The final is cumulative but super easy if you just go back and keep your old quiz answers on a google doc. The final is all from old quizzes and quizlet. Super easy
There was lot's of reading for this class from online articles. Many quizzes. He was nice though.
The reading is mostly linked articles throughout his own descriptions. While they can be long, they're really interesting too. The quizes/tests are almost entirely on quizlet.
Learned more in this class than any other environmental class I've taken. Grades based on 6 units quizzes, 2 tests, and one final. The material is clear and is meant to inspire you. You will leave this class with a greater respect for the ocean. I truly believe every college student should take this course.
Everything on quizlet, enough said. Easiest A ever and it covers your natural science Explorations requirement.
Maybe it was because I took the class online, but Robinson was SO nice! He was really patient and wanted everyone to get a good grade. He would always send helpful reminders to everyone. He made every test practical and easy and he offered extra credit for each of the 3 units. Yeah he lectures a whole lot but it's all doable. Take him!
His lessons have spelling and grammar errors in them. It seems like he does not put very much effort into this class, which is too bad because it certainly has a lot of potential to be interesting. I think it's hard to make a class fascinating when there are no live meetings or recorded lectures. Easy A though, if that's what you're looking for!
SUSTN100 was completely asynchronous, which made it a bit hard to stay on track but Kevin made the lectures interesting and the assignments were high school level. There are a total of 3 units, which include 2 reading assignments and an exam in each. Definitely recommend if environmental science is a topic of interest, otherwise you'll get bored.
Easy GE class. Take notes. Review quiz results for exams. You can easily get an A but it's up to you. No reason to fail.
Fully asynchronous. His quizzes and stuff tend to have spelling or grammatical mistakes which indicate a lack of care on his behalf, but I didn't really mind since I just wanted the GE. Wish I'd taken as a grade instead of Cr/Nc bc this is super easy A. I didn't even do the readings. The exams are mashups of prior quizzes.
Easy course!!! The professor is nice but I never really had to talk to him. Your entire grade is based on his weekly quizzes, a midterm and a final. I really recommend as the upper division science course. Keep track of your questions and answers from the quizzes for the final.
Best professor ever!!! he is so passionate about what he does and makes it fun to learn. I was worried I would fall asleep since it's only lectures, but it is so interesting. He tells you what you need to know for the exams too so don't stress!!
cool professor, his class is based off of just tests. I didn't take the lab with it so maybe thats why it was easier for me. quiz every week
Avoid this class at all costs. I took it and after the first few exams I realized that they have nothing to do with the material. I was taking detailed notes and that did absolutely nothing. Only way to pass the class is through using Quizlet. So good luck if you are in person with this professor.
Extremely easy A for this online class. Take this class if you don't really care about your GE and just want to get it out of the way. The entire class is just 6 quizzes, a midterm, and a final.
He doesn't teach at all, you learn from reading articles online and watching videos, no lecture. The information on the quizzes is not something you can get from the articles. No extra credit, if you ask how to do better in class, will tell you to just take better notes based off the articles.
Meh. The textbook is free and written by the professor but not helpful for the exams. The quizzes, midterm, and final are hard, and I have no idea where he pulls questions. There are always blaring typos. It's definitely passable, even without studying, but it's more annoying than anything else. Pick this class for a GE to pass, not to learn.
KRob seems like a very cool guy, even though I never heard his voice all year. Its cool that he likes surfing. He cares about the topics and makes interesting notes, but the tests count for way too much credit and you need to try very hard on the tests.
Very very very easy. So easy you almost forget about this class existing. Prof is very accommodating, so reach out if you need anything. If you're a STEM major, you don't even need to study
This course was very straight forward with just six quizzes, a midterm, and a final. Some of the questions on the mid term and final were taken from past quizzes. The professor himself is very nice and is flexible if you cannot do any of the assignments within the given time period. Overall I highly recommend this course.
Real lazy professor. There are a total of 8 quizzes with 2 exams for midterm and final. He forgets what to do and provides the wrong information for quiz information like what the quizzes will be based on and what information to focus on. To be honest, lectures don't really help even though he emphasizes them. Quizlet won't help you 100%
For Oceans 320 there are 6 modules which he posts at the beginning of the year. You have 2-3 weeks to complete them and then take a easy quiz. He writes his own material which is very interesting. No textbook. There were two tests (I think) , a midterm and the final. He reuses quiz questions for the tests. Super easy and actually fun.
This class is the easiest GE you could possibly take. NO homework, all online, and one quiz every other week where the material is very clearly provided in the brief readings he provides weekly.
This man is so sweet and clearly cares very very heavily on what he's teaching. This is a very easy class. There are a few paragraph long writings throughout the semester. A few easy online tests. And two easy writing assignments at the end of the semester. Super sweet man, If this class is possible for you to fulfill a GE, take it.Perfect GE class.
He is a passionate professor, there are quizzes after every unit. But the quiz actually hard even though I came to the class. He covers so much informations and even if you note all of them, it is still hard to do the quiz. but the midterm and final are from the last quizzes. TBH, I couldn't focus to his lecture.
Robinson obviously cared about the topic and wrote a lot of material which showed he was passionate about the class. If this class was in person it would have been so much better. bi-weekly quizzes, 1 midterm, and 1 final. Overall pretty doable class.
No homework in this class. Only a quiz every other week based on a couple of small readings. Easy upper GE course Ive taken. Only two exams. Questions from quizzes are recycled for the exams.
He cares so much about what he is teaching! Very light homework and 3 Exams and one final project. Definitely recommend
Quizzes were the bane of my existence because most if not all of them had nothing to do with information from the lecture, his lectures were filled with a lot of useless information but he does have a passion for it. If you make it through the quizzes you'll be rewarded with tests filled with recycled questions so easy A
Robinson is knowledgeable on the subject of Geology and has a lot of interesting stories to tell-- but he's unorganized and his lectures are hard to pay attention to cause they're pretty boring. Weekly quizzes that were random and didn't match the lecture material, but the midterm & final were a breeze (re-used questions from quizzes).
Professor Robinson is very participation heavy and stated that you needed to be on Canvas for a minimum amount of hours to receive credit for the class. I had a borderline B+/A-. It was stated in the syllabus that "borderline grades could receive a boost if they met the criteria of participation." I did. But, alas I only had a B+. Very upsetting.
Robinson is passionate about what he teaches, the drawback is that his lectures are somewhat fast-paced with loads of information. He only grades the exams which there are 4 but he drops the lowest one. Since it is a large lecture, many students stop attending class so if you are an introvert it kind of works out. Exams are 40 questions.
He is so PASSIONATE about his work, he is so passionate that he goes really fast, so make sure to take a lot of notes because he talks at a 2x speed so you might get bored if you don't understand what he is saying. Attendance is not required but he sometimes might give you extra credit for those that attend.
Fully online, no Zoom classes. He just posts these really long readings for each unit and then there's a 10 question quiz about them every couple of weeks. You literally do not have to read anything because everything is on Quizlet, just download Socratic Google to "study" and you'll get an A guaranteed. Takes less than 2 hours all semester, trust.
Don't take this class if you are looking for a GE. There are plenty of other classes that are less time-consuming. You are expected to read so much material and 6 quizzes, a midterm, and a final. He reduces your grade by HALF a letter grade if it shows on Canvas that you spent less than 20 hours on your readings throughout the semester...
No lectures only text you study on canvas with articles and videos. Lots is on quizlet but not all, and some incorrect. DO NOT fully rely on that. Spend time on canvas "studying" bc he deducts points at end if its not enough hours. 6 quizzes, midterm and final which have questions from quizzes. MAKE A CLASS GC FOR STUDY GUIDES for tests!
This professor is so unorganized which made the exams incredibly difficult. Many of the questions on tests did not correspond with any of the random material he would throw at you to read. I mostly researched topics on my own to take notes but it's possible to pass.
very passionate and knowledgeable, but so much so that lectures are hard to follow. especially if u've never taken a geol class before (like the majority of the class), it seems like ur trying to piece together whats being said. tests are harder than expected, but he gave us a couple tries and curved. after a bit he understood his audience more.
The professor is almost invisible, mostly because it's a fully online class, but grade comes from quizzes and 2 exams which can be stressful. I wouldn't recommend this course simply because of the course layout. One bad quiz grade affects your total grade tremendously. Same with the exams (1 midterm and 1 final).
Professor Robinson is alright instructor. His lectures are very extensive, a lot of articles to read and sometimes a few videos to watch. Make sure you take good notes and understand the material, because his quizzes are hard. The quizzes are short timed and uses different words to confuse you.
I am in between with this professor. He is a good professor and gives good lecture but when it comes to the quizzes he does word a lot of it really weird. He gives quizzes about every other week but gives curves if needed. Your grade is based on the quizzes only but he does group 2 out of 7.
Very passionate about the subject, however the lectures can be very boring. He gives extra credit for coming to class. The test can be a bit difficult at times, but they're fully online and times ofc. He drops the lowest test score. Easy A.
This was quite literally the worst class I've ever taken. He gives you a bunch of long articles to read rather than teaching & your grade is only based on quizzes. Each quiz is unfairly timed & the questions are difficult. I spent HOURS on each unit & still struggled. One or two bad scores ruin your grade & it's hard to get it back up.
Such a chill professor. He doesn't care if you miss class, but you need to go if you want your weekly labs graded. Very lecture heavy but you don't need to take notes just use the time to work on your final project. Highly recommend this class especially if you need a lab credit. Had a very fun time on the overnight field trip opportunity.
Super nice professor, even took us out to pizza and bowling after our final. The class is based on lectures twice a week, reading two chapters, then a lab, sounds like a lot but its really not. You also get the choice to go on a field trip to the grand canyon for three nights with another class. Recommend this class if you're into geology.
Great professor!! He genuinely helps his students understand his material, I would suggest approaching him after class instead of sending an email. Attendance was mandatory because he would give pop quizzes during his lecture, but he would provide the answer it was just to make sure people got credit for being there.
Not Understanding teacher and very rude. Responds back to emails longer than stated on syllabus and is inconsiderate. Terrible rude teacher. Never take him he only cares about himself!!
Prof. Robinson is very understanding if you let him know beforehand but other than that, you get partial credit for missed deadlines. Lecture and readings are very heavy and created by him but he is very passionate about what he teaches. Hard to understand sometimes but make sure to read through the readings/articles and you'll pass the quizzes.
Honestly, please choose another class. This professor assigns a lot of readings/videos which in my opinion consist of busy work. The quizes can be challenging and no you you can't search up answers. In this class you actually need to read the material and take notes. Also he watches how much time you spend on canvas to make sure that you studying.
I'm sad to leave this review here as I think Oceans of Change is a really important class, the content is very relevant. But I'm frustrated with how the class is run. You're given so much material to read/watch. I spend hours taking notes and when I take the quizzes I get awful grades because he asks the most OBSCURE questions. Highly discouraging.
The module study questions are irrelevant to the questions in the quizzes and just a waste of time to even study them. IDK what Prof is thinking on this but he needs to change his methods of study and make the material more relevant to the quizzes. DON'T take this class, sounds easy but its more complicated than it looks. Find another Sci class
Lectures were heavy and as someone who knows nothing about geology not the easiest to pay attention to. Graded only on a few quizzes that aren't easy, idk how you're supposed to know the info cause its hard to find the answers in the slides (can't google either). Gives some EC and drops a quiz. Prof is a cool guy tho, very smart, liked him a lot.
Entire class is weighted on seven online quizzes, with a ton of extra credit opportunities. Lectures are easy to follow, would highly recommend.
the lectures are informative but not very interesting. lots and lots of extra credit for simply attending class. your grade is basically determined by 7 fairly easy quizzes. overall he is a good professor to take if you just need to knock the earth science requirement out.
He monitors how long you study on canvas and then he will reduce your grade if you're not studying enough. The quizzes are all timed like 10 questions in 12 minutes or something of that sorts. I didn't even need this class to begin with, look at your SDSU degree evaluation if you need this class for any reason.
Extra credit at least once a week for just coming to class that helps alot. 7 quizzes based on lectures, all online, lowest score dropped. Lectures were really long and impossible to know what to focus on for the quizzes because so much info.
This course started off good, but at the end, there was an insane amount of reading that took me 5 hours to read, and the quizzes got harder.
Don't listen to the whiney "WAHH, sO mUCh rEAdInG" crowd here. This is a simple and frankly easy class; you read the module, then take the quiz. The modules are clear, and Mr. Robinson's stories peppered in help ease the dryness. The subject matter is important, and even if you're taking this for just a credit, I recommend paying attention.
Professor Robinson's GEO100 class is straightforward - lectures can be dry, but he offers plenty of extra credit for attendance. The online quizzes are fair, and unstuckstudy AI proved helpful for study prep.
Love this guy, super chill and easy assignments and easy quizzes. No midterm or final. I wish every class was like this!
Very nice guy who has the students success at best interrest. Class consists of about 6 tests quizzes make up your entire grade. If you miss a lecture, the slides / videos are on canvas so you can take notes from that. All quizzes online. Very interesting class with lots of good examples.
ONLY GRADED BY QUIZZES, each 10pts & 15 quizzes. Really nice dude & seems like he cares about the environment. Very lecture-heavy however I never read any of them (only skimmed). All quizzes are online so do what you want with that information. Has a requirement of 48 hours of reading on Canvas (but just keep it open on another tab).
I like Kevin a lot. He is really friendly. The content of the class is a bit boring at times, & you may even doze off like I did. However, the quizzes are easy, and that's all you are graded on in the class. The lectures are also recorded, but I never used them. He communicates on Canvas very well, & I had a good semester with him. Easy A for sure!
This class was so easy. You can either go to lectures or just watch the recorded ones on Canvas. The class is only graded by unit quizzes that are super easy. There is an extra credit quiz you can take at the end of the course. No final. He is very caring as well. 10/10, would recommend.
He's a nice guy but honestly you don't even need to attend lectures. You get 6 quizzes (1 which is extra credit) and you can search up the answers. You take the exams during a specific time frame and it's online (can be taken in class or in your room).
lectures are a little boring, its hard to tell what will be on the quiz. but this is a really easy GE course - no midterm, no final. prof is fun but lectures are sometimes a bore.
This class is only graded based on quizzes, and all of the quizzes are unnecessarily hard. Just because this is an online class don't think you can get away with just taking the quizzes and thats it because he tracks how many hours you spend on Canvas reading/doing the quizzes which can drop your grade by a ton. AVOID IF YOU CAN.
This class was horrible. His lectures are so boring and have nothing to do with the biweekly quizzes that he assigns. Thankfully, the quizzes are online, and he offers 8 percent extra credit but this was a much harder GE than I was prepared for.
His quizzes are the only thing in the grade book all semester, and are really difficult. The lessons just have a bunch of links to articles/ videos, and don't actually contain a lot of the information that you're being quizzed on. When I emailed him for help, he told me that he can't do anything because of the large number of students he has.
Class was overall pretty easy. All you have to do is attend lecture and take notes. If you take decent notes, the major quizzes aren't hard. If you have to miss class, he also posts lecture recordings from the last semester which are almost the same. Professor Robinson is also a pretty chill guy and is very passionate about what he teaches.
Didn't really attend lectures after first 2 weeks its all lecture heavy and test heavy. tests are online and worth majority of your grade.
I really liked him as a professor but class wasn't mandatory and tests were online so I think I went twice. No homework, only 6 exams and an optional EC exam that will BOOST your grade. Good class to take if you just want to get the GE out of the way.
This class is NOT as easy as it appears. This class is not hard by any means but most people take it just to satisfy a requirement. Get ready for a LOT of reading and a lot of grammatical errors in the course content/quizzes. Don't trust the quizlets that show up unless you confirm the answer bc half are wrong...
100% recommend taking this course if you want to get the GE out the way. Rarely anything due. Quizzes, exams, everything is online. Attendance is not mandatory. Like 1 thing due a week and that's it.
You can tell that he is very compassionate about his topics. A super chill guy, and very much a class where you don't need to attend class. He grades only on online quizzes, and there is no final or midterm.
ALWAYS ATTEND LABS! Attendance to lecture isn't mandatory, but he is a very good lecturer as he's damn good at presenting his knowledge. Labs can be pretty tricky but you get full credit if you attempt them. There is also a grand canyon trip you can go for EC; never went but very nice he offers it! Overall an amazing and chill professor!
Don't always need to attend class, he has lectures recorded online. 4 exams, no midterms or final. And for future attenders, DO NOT ask obvious questions (pls trust me.... it will save ur feelings). Anyway, good for getting a GE out of the way. Assignments/Exams due Thursdays-Mondays, and exams can be taken twice.. only sometimes..!
Easy class to get an A. He's pretty passionate about what he teaches so he never rejects helping another student to the max capacity he can. Chill guy overall.
Took this online over summer. Super easy to fill a GE. quizzes were multiple choice and you get two attempts. tests are only open at specific times so you can't work ahead. I did have to do some reading bc a lot of the quizlets are wrong.
