If you want a dose of reality, take this professor. He does have some rather ruthless policies, but it's REAL life. If you can't handle spontenuity or challenge and just want an easy A, he's not the teacher for you. I enjoyed his well-rounded lectures.

I don't think that you guys were in my classes. He teaches an Honors class and he is very consistent, sometimes he is unpredictable. He can be tough on speeches. Professor Rushing is FAIR, if you are not just looking for an easy grade.

i loved his humor and witt in class, the lectures were very entertaining. he expected a lot from us since we were a much smaller class he enjoyed our class. You just need to write your speeches well and practice them well, and you'll do fine. he's an easy person to talk to for any problems

I didn't want to take this class b/c I was afraid of getting in front of people, but Mr. Rushing made it very easy for me. I loved hearing his stories & the way he taught his class made it much easier. His quizzes were surprisingly easy as well--all you needed to put was your name and you got the A!

This professor has brought a one night a week class that would normally be as boreing as it is painful to sit in one spot for three hours, and made it into a pretty fun class. His tests are super easy, and all you have to do is pratice a little, and when I say practice, I mean you can't wing the speeches.

Personally I thought he was great! I think that those who had a problem with him or felt he didn't explain what was expected of them were the ones that were not paying attention, were absent, or didn't seek him out to get clarification. He was more than willing to answer my questions. You have to make an effort, he doesn't just give it to you!

I had him for speech1600 Honors. This subject is hard since it's ...speech. Well he grades really easy, just follow his instructions and you will be fine. Tests are really really easy, he even show u what will be on the test. Very fun n cool professor.

Main focus of class is building confidence to speak in front of groups. He is funny and tells stories all the time. His tests are taken right from the cd given with the book and quizzes are a joke. The two final speeches determine a majority of your grade.

I found this class to be a confidence booster. Prof. Rushing is a bit different as a prof., but a fair grader nonetheless. Really expects you to do what is asked of you, no excuses! As far as speech classes go, his is somewhat involved from what I know. Overall he is a good-natured guy with a good sense of humor. His speech class made me fearless.

Kevin Rushing is an awesome instructor. His stories are great, he's interesting, and he makes everybody get involved in discussions. I enjoy his class very much. He makes the class get comfortable around each other early on, which makes giving speeches easier since it's in front of people you know. I am TERRIFIED of speech and he got me thru it.

He is not a hard teacher, he just expects you to be an adult and be responsible. Since this isn't high school anymore, you are expected to look at the syllabus, or email asking when their are assignments due. He is a thorough grader, but tells you EXACTLY what you did wrong so that you can try to fix it. Take him. I got an A.

I only had him as sub for speech, but it was for five classes. And of those classes he was great. I learned more from him in those few classes than an entire semester with Ms. Anthon Off of the experience I had with him i wish he was my permeant teacher.

I took speech and dropped the class partway through several times before taking professor Rushing's class. He was a clear cut above my other professors, offering real world applications for the material and demanding from his students the level of quality they'll need to demonstrate as professionals. The class is not easy, nor should it be.

He is a bit stuck up, and students typically don't like the course (spc 1608). His lectures are amazing, give a ton of usefull information that helps in life, not just on the test. If you do EXACTLY what he says, and show improvement on what he asked you to improve on, you will get an A. I hated it at first, but I am very glad I took this class.

Professor Rushing was the best professor I have ever had! He is not a push over. He expects you to be an active member of each class. But, if you put forth the effort you will not be disappointed. His lectures are polished works of art, full of real world knowledge you can't live without.

You will learn so much from Prof Rushing. He will push you to do your very best, but in the end you will appreciate it. Do what he says and you will be fine. He teaches an Honors and regular class, and so I can only speak on the regular class, the one I took. His grading is almost completely the speeches, and that also happens to be the thing he is the toughest on. Even then, as long as you show some improvement, and put in the effort, he will work with you.

Everybody who complains about Professor Rushing is merely used to being "babied." He expects his students to be college-quality.Rushing provides clear instruction on what he requires from a student. He's the type of teacher that needs things his way, he will tell you exactly what he wants from you and if you dont comply, then forget passing the class with an A or B. After I graduated from Valencia I looked back and at the professors that had the most influence in my sucess. After Rushing's class I am always "appointed" speaker in group projects. Not hard but you have to do the work. Though I got a "C" in the class (my fault) what I learned turned me into to an effective speaked. That change will last forever.

He gives you answers to the quizzes and tests that he'll give you. First of all read the syllabus, schedule, and textbook. Next,you have to make sure that you are present on your schedule speech days with your outline and flash drive. Attendance could be an extra credit. Last, don't give-up, do your best, you'll get A. Professor Rushing is a good instructor. He will tell you what he expects out of the speeches and what he expects by the end of the semester. He does tell a lot of stories and does get a bit off track but it is fun taking him. He does know everything there is about speech. He is very passionate about improving peoples ability to speak in public as well as their self confidence. He is a no nonsense teacher, as long as you take the course seriously you will do great! Put in the time and he will help you in the end! Awesome!

Professor Rushing is a very put together speech professor. He helps you in any way possible. He gives you critiques and helps you become a better speaker. He explains everything in detail, and helps you on exams. He is very funny and relates to everyone on a personal level. Practice, practice, practice and you'll do great!

He's a great guy, but what he demands out of your speeches might be surprising if you've had a speech class before. The tests and the preparation you're given aren't impressive either. He can be helpful and flexible if you are polite and kind to him though. Your final grade might be higher than you expected at the end of the semester by the way.

I had the privilege of enrolling in Professor Rushing's Honors Speech class and I must say,if you truly desire to learn the effective mechanics of speech writing and oral presentations:he is hands down the best instructor to learn from. I've learned a wealth of valuable information which has been beneficial in my studies at Rollins. Rushing Rocks!~

very good teacher.one of the few teachers i know who makes an attempt to get to know his students. helps you with assignments if you ask. may be strict on telling you what you did wrong but it does not affect your grade and helps you improve on small overlooked details.

Only thing that makes him easy if you do exactly what he tells you to do. Most likely he will give you the answer on the quiz and test if you pay attention. There are times you can use the book or notes you have on the quiz he gives in class. Other than that its very mandatory for you to be present for all your speeches, do that and you will be ok.

Very fair teacher sticks to his word and his a great guy.

He is a fear professor, Which means if you give him what he wants you will get the grade you will receive the grade that you want.

I would say that Professor Rushing has passion with his students. He will help you if you cooperate working with your speeches. I missed my speech and he emailed me that he can work with me. I really appreciate how much he cares to his students. He adjusted his time to see me to do my speech. Without his great motivation, I almost gave up.

Professor Rushing is one of the best professors I've had. He is truly a wealth of knowledge and will teach you skills that translate directly into the real word,not just academia. He teaches class via theory, personal experience, and kinetic learning. Don't expect a cake walk but he gives you all material and information to pass his class.

Prof. Rushing was a great professor for Fundamentals to Speech. I know that some reviews say he is the worst professor ever but I beg to differ. I learned many things about the importance of public speaking and credibility, things that if I didn't take his class I never would have. He clearly has a lot of experience in the field. He's great .

Don't miss any days because sometimes he will do a pop quiz, and its really easy its kinda like a participation grade for students who are there for the class. He analyzes your flaws to make you better in the real world. He takes his speeches seriously so turn off those cellphones. Overall I like this professor and would deffinitely take him again

He's a good guy. I took his course online and he was very understanding of my hectic summer schedule. As long as you're honest, show that you care and keep up with the work, you should have no problem.

He's really clear on the assignments, but if you don't understand something he will explain it to you further. He tells you when in advance when assignments are due. He gives surprise pop quizzes. He's very understanding if you have a problem.

Professor Rushing was the most inspirational, talented, and professional professor I have had in college. His lectures are genuine, and be ready to write notes for life as he speaks. Above all, Mr. Rushing will be there for you if you want to succeed at public speaking. My friends and I had the opportunity to learn from the best!

Professor Rushing is absolutely hilarious, cares about his students and their futures, and is totally approachable outside of class. He will go the extra mile to help you succeed; all you have to do is ask. He TOTALLY makes you work for a good grade, but just put in the effort and you'll be fine! I would definitely take a class with him again.

Hmm an amazing professor, HOWEVER, there's a lot of work, he's not easy, but nonetheless, an amazing professor. I'd recommend him to anyone who loves comedy or (those that can handle the work that is).participate and simply don't procrastinate alot) I got a B. by the time class ends you will be a great speaker.

Professor Rushing is an excellent teacher. He will challenge you to be better. He will keep you in your toes but he give you all the tools to succeed in class so in order to get and "A" please apply all knowledge he is given you into your speeches.

He had some of the best lectures, but he was very unclear on what he really wanted at times, and his tests are extremely difficult, but if you do well on the presentations you will pass no problem

Rushing is good teacher, but his class is not easy. He tells u what's on the test. But the quizzes are open book, he just won't give you a lot of time. He is fair, he will tell you what you need. helpful.

ok first off, you get the grade you want based on how much effort you put into your own work. plain and simple. I personally have never dosed off or got bored in any of his lectures. im honestly entertained. the speeches are nothing, doesnt matter if youre scared to speak in front of others. you will feel so comfortable in his class

Professor Rushing is the best Professors in Valencia. You will love him if you take his class. I took a class with him in the summer and usually summer classes are a bit difficult because they are shorter but Rushing was more than helpful on everything. He gives excellent feedback on all of the speeches. BEWARE he gives pop quiz after every test!!

Rushing is excellent. He is really funny but also serious. Pay attention in class and write notes. Everything that he tells you to write will be on the test! He gives excellent feedback. All of his test will be taken in testing center. He is also an Actor so mention it on the first day so you break so that you can break the ice.

He helps you improve your speeches and wants the best for you. He always tells you what are questions for the test and questions for the quiz. He gives pop quiz ,but if you take good notes and have your book, you are good to go! Test aren't so mad,he gives you pre-test which are very similar to the test. Lastly, you only have to do four speeches and one is a group project .

Professor Rushing is a great professor. If you have a question or comment about his class do not be afraid to wait after class and share that with him and he will immediately respect you and watch out for you. He wants to help you. This is his passion and it shows. Do your work and follow his guidelines and you will pass with an A. He is a joy!

He's amazing, make sure you show up to class otherwise you'll miss out on the info that's going to be on tests and pop quizzes. there are only 4 speeches so it's not bad at all. His lectures are fun but they're education. He's funny and he will help you if you show that you care. HES THE BEST!!!

He is a fair grader and you will do fine as long as you do your work. he is will to work with if you have difficulties I.E. being the only one in your group to do the assignment .

He is generally funny. He is specific about what he expects from you on every speech (and there is only 4). I don't like public speaking, but by the I had to do my last speech I was comfortable. He writes the answers on the board for the "pop quizzes" and will announce when he is answering a future test question. His humor is dry, but likeable!

Professor Rushing is hands down the greatest lecturer I've ever had. He is one of my top 3 favorite professors ever. He grades fairly and gives great feedback on what you need to improve on in your speeches. If you listen to his feedback, you'll definitely become a better speaker. I learned a lot from Professor Rushing's class. Highly recommended!

Professor Rushing is no doubt the best talker in valencia. look the man knows his stuff. He will take care of you if you meet him half way. Although his directions could be a bit clearer. which is ironic for a speech professor! best speech class to take.

If you want an easy A, don't take this class. Prof. Rushing is tough, but he knows his stuff. Read the syllabus (all of it) and talk to him if necessary. It helps.

Professor Rushing really knows what he is talking about when it comes to public speaking. He will give good advice on how to perfect your speech! Doesn't give a lot of homework too. Recommend taking him.

It has been very inspirational as me, as a person, having aspergers , he helped me break out of my solitary shell, and become more vocal, which is what one of the purposes of a speech class is suppose to be, also helped me to communicate better and express myself more fluently, such as in a graphic design class, where feedback is expected.

Highly intelligent man, and seemingly one of the best communicators out there. He is fair in what he does, and will help you as long as you extend somewhat of an arm out for him to hold onto. By taking this class, you are a caterpillar beginning to build its cocoon. This class will transform you, mentally, emotionally, to fly like a butterfly.

Professor Rushing is the one of the smartest and most passionate people to instructors I have ever met. I think this class is a must take, if your not great at public speaking take it. If you are this class is a must take. Can be confusing if your not paying attention . He is very witty. Take this class you will not regret it.

I'm not the best student out there but i do like a challenge from time to time. P. Rushing was an amazing professor! Any negative comments on here are from people who just stopped showing up to class. Don't hesitate to take him! Do the speeches, pay attention in class, and don't miss test and you will pass with a good grade!

Class was fun. Walking in, I was nervous. He started the class with a group speech, really helped break the ice. Everyone usually overdoes it but it helps with future speeches. Not much home and quizzes were open book or answers were on the board. Outlines need to be short and simple and as long as you show up, hell help you get the grade you earn

I would have to admit I was extremely nervous and apprehensive to take speech at first. Rushing is a creative professor, who knows his stuff and he is passionate about speech and the success of his students. He encouraged us to speak, and to know the techniques and skill behind being an effective speaker. I personally saw him encourage students.

Professor Rushing Speech class was one of the most enjoyable classes i have attended. As a communications expert, professor rushing knows how to clearly use words though inspiring means in order to engage students and help you understand the material. Very fair and will always try to boost your grade if youre willing to do the work.

I took Professor Rushing 3 years ago. His advice was great then and continues to be great now. Following his advice and wisdom has helped me avoid a few would be disasters. Hes punctual, cares, and knows a thing or two from life experience. Taking his class IS an experience. 10/10 I recommend to all my friends that are in need of choosing Speech.

Prof Rushing was a great professor. Yes he was tough but if you ever had a problem he always made himself available. I was petrified to speak in front of others and he helped me realize that there is nothing to be scared of. Im still a little scared but I am working on it.

He challenges you. He encourages you to better yourself. He is extremely personable. Do your work though because he picks up on the amount of effort you put into your speech and each assignment. I was in a 3 hour 20 min class and he keeps his lectures intriguing and unique every time. He forces you to care. Take the class seriously. Attendance!!

Professor Rushing was a caring teacher. If he sees your potential and enthusiasm for the class he would help you so much. His lectures give all test materials so you have to take notes so you would not forget. Tough grader but he gives good feedback in how to improve and he is accesible after class. Its a fun class because of his personality.

I was a student who did not fully utilize the professor's office hours so I will not comment on that on this website. Either way, I took his speech class and got an A in it. I was one of 2 people in his two classes that received an A. It was not because I was gifted, I just knew this thing known as task achievement. I was an international student.

My art teacher made us all started copying his house painting, then after so many different houses copied, we were independent. It was mesmerizing as it was a run way, you copy and you then become an artists and his art never got hurt and neither did ours. Speech is art. That is all I will say.
