In class you take notes & be sure to take good notes because that is where your take home exam info comes from. His in class exams are a little hard, if you study you should do okay though. His take home exams are easy if you have taken good notes & answer the question's really good. You have to give a 5-10 min in class presentation too.

He wasn't too hard, just take good notes, and study for the test. He has a warped sense of humor.......

Mr. Sexton is a very interesting teacher. I have to admit that political science is not one of my great interests. You do have to show up for class and get good grades on the tests and other papers. The quizzes were done before the chapter and it was easy to get all 10 right. If your test answers were well written, you got a good grade. I got

Sexton is a fun teacher to have, kinda dorky, but you gotta love him. I learned A LOT from this course and I still carry the information with me. Quizzes are take home and straight out of the book and the final is take home, you can't beat that. Lectures were interesting. I easily made an A.

He is super nice! I would definately recommend taking his class! His in-class exams are pretty hard, but his take-home exams are exceptionally easy since you have all the material you need to know. you have to go to class to get the information though. He is very smart on the subject and is good at explaining all of it!

Mr. Sexton is great! I hated this subject, but I liked this class. He lays everything out right from the beginning, so you know all the assignments and tests from the first day. No major assignments...just a lot of small ones, and the tests are not very hard if you study a little. Very nice guy!!!

These guy is great. His tests are a little hard, make sure you study his notes and power points. However, he knows alot about the subject and he is very welling to explain something if you dont understand. He is one of those teachers that respects his students, and that makes it really easy to return that respect.

This is a very good teacher. I would advise taking him over any of the other PS103 teachers out there...i have heard many complaints about this class but was pleased about the teacher i chose. Tests are straight from the powerpoint notes which he gives u ahead of time so you can print them and take notes in class. He makes it easy to remember info!

Dr. Sexton is an awesome teacher. Many students don't have an interest in politics at all. He breaks things down and gives students a better chance to understand the politcal world. His tests aren't too hard, just really study the lecture notes and you will be fine. You also have to give an oral presentation at the end of the year. Its not hard!

He was ok. Really loud, but that did not keep me awake in my 8 AM class, especially since the entire class is done in the dark via powerpoint. Tests are hard, read the book and review your notes. Always be in class, he adds his opinions to the tests.

I thought that he was a great teacher. I learned a lot from the class and some of the stuff talked about was interesting and he tried to make it fun. I would recommend him.

He is a great teacher. Printing out the powerpoints and going to class and listening to his lectures is all that is really needed to do well of tests.

Professor Sexton actually made this class interesting. I have never been interesting in politics, but in this class I learned a lot. The tests are right from the powerpoint and he usually tells you exactly what is going to be on the test in class. It is really important to go to class, but it is kind of fun to do so, so it was alright!

This class was super easy. If you read the directions and follow his online calender you should get an A .

This class was easy as long as you study for the tests and print off the power points and bring them to class. READ THE DIRECTIONS it is kind of annoying but he likes to test you at the beginning. If you come to class you should get an A

Professor Sexton was fun and great teacher. He told you exactly what he wanted on assignments but you had to follow directions. The online quizzes came from the book and the tests were mainly over his powerpoints which are online. However, you do have to go to class but overall a GREAT teacher!!

He's a cool teacher. The class is just so boring. I have never been a fan of just sitting and listening to lecture...and this class has plenty of that. There are online quizzes...open books...make sure you do those. They may jus be 10 pts each, but it adds up!

I fell asleep in his class every day because of his lectures. They were interesting when I was awake, but his voice put me to sleep a lot. He put the power points online, but never displayed them in class, its good to print them off. The exams he would allow you to throw out questions, but you need to know the information and study for them.

This class is not bad as long as you study a little bit for tests. which all are online anyway. Mr. Sexton was not bad at teaching the class at all. he covered most of the material on tests and most homework assiqnments were easy. As long as you go to class you should get an A

I struggled in Sexton's class, but I could have done better if I kept up. He has powerpoints & notes that you can print off the website. Come with those to class and read the chapters. My tests were online so you could use the book but you don't have time to look for all the answers so study! Come to class & read his directions. I always lost point

i DID NOT wanna take this class, but sexton made it interesting. there are online quizzes related to the textbook, and 4 or 5 online tests that come directly from his lectures. so take notes and read. the only hard part is the elected officials assignments. other than that he's a great teacher, really interesting and knows what he's talking about.

I think he is kinda a jerk sometimes. If you ask a question he maes you feel dumb for asking. But he does teach well. I would like to have had a different professor for this class.

Mr. Sexton is a very good teacher, but it is difficult to get an A in his class. Attendance is a must, considering the tests come from his lectures. He really knows his stuff, and tries to make lectures as interactive as possible. Can come off as a jerk when asked questions though.

As long as you go to every class and take notes your pretty much going to get an A but he's strict on attendance

One of the best teachers at SEMO. He gets you interested in a class that would seem boring. He brings humor to the class which is always nice. Keep good notes and review the material ahead of time and you'll be fine. The exams are all online and open book and note. Beware, he does like to word things differently to try to trip you up.

He knows his subject. Loves to see interacting students. has be punctual. exams are not hard you need to remember a bit about the US government. easy A

READ DIRECTIONS! Especially on the first few assignments. Assignment due before every class. Very good teacher but can seem intimidating. If you answer his questions in class even if they seem rhetorical you will get on his good side. Very helpful and willing to answer questions but be prepared to know your stuff because he sure knows his.

Yes he is a tough grader, you should expect homework and definitely come to class. However, if you know these three things the class isn't that bad. The test are online, homework online, quizzes online. Not difficult if you come to class and participate. He explains things in great detail! Definitely worth taking his class!

This is by far my favorite class of the semester. He goes slow and explains things when you don't understand. The tests are easy as long as you go to class and take good notes. There's chapter quizzes about once a week but you can skim the reading and still get full credit. Biggest thing is you have to go to class and pay attention.

Mr. Sexton is a great guy. His class is of normal difficulty. He really cares about political science and government. He respects you as long as you try in his class. He is easily accessible but can be a tougher grader. Although, his tests are all online so they are fairly easy.

He is very knowledgeable and cool :) I loved getting to know him and really enjoyed his class. I wish there were more professors like mr. sexton! He is super neat

If you do what you are told, show up on time, take notes, print off powerpoint lectures, you will do well! Make sure if you have questions to ask him, he is very helpful and actually a lot nicer than he seems at first.

He was a good professor, I feel like I actually did learn some things about the subject. Super nice but lectures could be pretty boring. As long as you print out the powerpoints he gives you and take notes about what he's saying you will do fine. Tests are all online and if you have the notes and books getting an A shouldn't be too hard.

A lot of people feel like he is tough and doesn't care about us, but he really does care about our education. Don't judge a book by it's cover, he may seem abrasive but he met with me outside of class several times and was very attentive to my questions and concerns. I didn't like the class itself, but he tried to make it engaging with discussions.

Attendance is part of your overall grade for his class, but he really seemed to care about students ability to learn the material rather than just trying to get through all the information. He tries to answer any questions that students had and took the effort to look up anything he was unsure about. If you pay attention in class an A is achievable

Mr. Sexton is a good teacher and genuinely cares about his students. His tests can be a little bit tricky and poorly written. He's pretty strict on attendance, but covers everything in his lectures so show up if you want to do well. Three exams, ten quizzes, several forums. Biggest complaint is forums. Overall good teacher, eager to help.

Mr. Sexton is the best option when taking PS103. I took him during the wintersession, and it was the easiest class I've taken at SEMO. While we had quizzes everyday, he gave you enough information during the daily videos for you to find exactly what you needed in the chapter. He cares about you and your success as a student!

Mr. Sexton really cares about his students and is passionate about what he teaches. Everything on the tests was very well covered between the moodle page and lectures. Wonderful professor

If you don't show up to class don't expect to get a good grade. If you want to have any idea how to properly answer his essay questions on the exams then you will have to attend his lectures in person and pay attention. He can be a very tough grader when it comes to the essays and they are worth a ton of points. The weekly quizzes require reading.

I have a lot of respect for this teacher but at the same time can be frustrating. his tests are hard. I learned a lot in this class. I would take his class again if i had a choice too. I got a C in his class but that was because of tests.

If you do the readings and watch the lecture videos, you will be fine! The quizzes were worded a little weirdly occasionally, but nothing that couldn't be figured out in a timely manner. He also is very approachable for questions by cell or email! If you do the work, you get the grade. I do recommend taking it online, though.

Get ready to learn, take notes, attend lectures, and do assignments on time. You'll do great!

Mr. Sexton is a great professor. He is very knowledgeable on the subject matter and loves when students get involved and ask questions. It is obvious that he loves teaching. He makes sure everyone understands. Exams are easy if you attend lectures and take notes. Weekly textbook quizzes are easy A's. He is just sometimes slow to grade essay ?s.
