Most patient prof yet; a must have for Organic II; Excellent
Good teacher, lot of material.
Shaughnessy rocks. Really nice guy and good teacher.
Challenging, but good. A good choice for organic II. He seems to be a freakin genius!

The best teacher in the chemistry department. If you can take his class do it!
Best chemistry professor I've had since I've been here.
EXCELLENT!! I highly recommend Shaughnessy for Organic lab. He's not out to get any of his students. Tests and quizzes are fair, if you study. Very memorable class!!
nice guy and fair teacher. very helpful. i dreaded taking this lab, but it was not bad at all. experiments are actually interesting
Very Hard class, you have to keep up! This teacher is incredible and great at explaining! Always willing to help. learned a lot from him!
he is absolutely fantastic...i highly recommend him. super nice guy, always willing to help, and made organic understandable. even though attendence is not mandatory, you should still go to class if you want to pass, plus you get bonus points! my favorite teacher, hands down.
GREAT Professor!! My class average was around 80. Go to class because there are bonus quizzes. He is a nice teacher and will help you with anything(even my lab reports and he wasn't teaching my section) TAKE HIM!
Great class. Gives lots of bonus points. Really picky on problem sets. Tons of homework, but the homework is very helpful. Take him if possible.
Dr. Shaugnessy is a great professor. Attendance is not required but he gives bonus quizzes throughout the semester. Don't expect an easy A because the material is difficult, especially if you don't keep up with it. He is very willing to help if you are having problems.
this class was a joke. I came out with around a 102 or 103 for my final average. Read the book and you should dominate.
Probably the best chemistry teacher ive had at Alabama. Explains things very well. It still is a very hard class because of the material. I recommend him. you will actually leave the class understanding what has just been taught
This class is extremely hard if you don't study at least everyday of the entire semester.Shaughnessy is a great professor but the class itself is very comprehensive and you DO HAVE REMEMBER REACTIONS!!Study, study, study!!HW is not simple and takes much concentration and time!Main thing is to study and get help WHENEVER neccessary!Study groups=+ !
A great teacher, a great person. Orgo with Shaughnessy is as fun as it is painless.
The material is not the easiest but he makes it to where if you want to succeed you will. Very nice guy and one of the best professors I have had. Tests are somewhat hard but they test you on what you are supposed to know so be able to work problems in the book and OWL homework fairly easily if you want an A on tests. Grading is very fair.
Dr. Shaughnessy is very helpful and willing to work with students. The tests were awful.
Awesome. Nice guy and great teacher. Offer bonus quizzes that aren't too bad.
the material is too hard , an Dr. shaughnassy made it harder his tests are impossiable to work , grading was not helpful either. I do not think he was fair since all international student who took his class either failed or droped it. thank you for nothing.
Great Teacher! He really knows his stuff. If you study and work hard in his class you can make an A no problem. Do the recommended end of the chapter problems before test. I must emphasize that you have to work for your grade, but you won't be disappointed. ALWAYS got to class and take good notes. I had him for both 231-232.
Ok so yes he is a very nice guy and knows chemistry and yes he will help you if you go to his office. His tests are very hard and so if the grading. He doesn't show much sympathy for a struggling student that's for sure. Not my favorite professor.
Yeah, you aren't going to get an A if you're an idiot. Duh. All the people who complained about the tests being horrible were just too lazy to study. I studied well on the night before the test & got an A+ in the class. It's very do-able. Make SURE you work the old exam & ask about any questions! Shaughnessy is the only prof who is happy to help!
Dr. Shaughnessy is so sweet! Organic Chemistry, however, is not. But he's definitely the best!
Dr. Shaughnessy is a great teacher! I took organic chemistry I (which is difficult anywhere) and I made a good grade. He explains concepts very well. You HAVE to work for your grade by studying, doing the homework, doing practice problems, and going to class.
Amazing teacher, simply put. Material is hard, but he does all he can to help, giving old tests and powerpoints, read book!!! Best teacher I've had, made class fun, take him!!
What a sweet man! organic is hard but he is definitely the best.
Great teacher! However, must work for your grade.
Attendance is not mandatory but you will definitely need to go, otherwise there's really no hope to pass. He's a great teacher, does his best to make Organic as easy as possible, however, the exams are still pretty difficult. Work old exams, problems from the book and the homework to give yourself a chance to pass, He's a really great guy though
Wonderful professor!! Very easy to understand and is so helpful. Not an easy class. Do the homework, review the old tests, and read the book and you should be fine.
Great professor! He tries his best to make Organic Chemistry an understandable subject and usually succeeds. His exams are representative of the way he teaches and he's not trying to throw anyone for a loop. Very pleased with my experience, and I'll be taking him again for Organic Chem II.
Very good teacher. It's obvious that he knows what he's talking about and tries all he can to make the material easier. However, it is very hard material, and his tests are brutal. He knows this and does review sessions on the weekend before exams. Go to those, do the homework, study, and you'll get a decent grade.
Probably on of the best instructors I've had UA. I Had him for organic 1 and 2. Organic chem is not an easy course no matter who teaches it, but Dr. Shaughnessy does a great job at explaining concepts. He even uses some funny analogies. Tests are difficult, but the grading is fair. Read, do homework, go to class, ask questions and you'll do fine.
Best OChem professor at UA, probably the best teacher I have had so far at college
Awesome professor (one of the best I've had) and really nice/funny guy. Organic 2, however, is very hard. His tests I thought weren't TOO difficult just know the concepts and don't memorize. Study way ahead of time so you don't get behind. Also- do well on homework b/c it will bring your grade up! Loved this class and I'm pretty sad it's over!
Had him for organic 1 and 2. he's a great teacher, very clear and is more than fair on the tests. he offers tons of help and posts his old tests online to study. But it also requires you to dedicate a lot of time and work to get a good grade
One of the best professors in the UA Chemistry Department. Level-headed and reasonable, he gives enjoyable lectures and grades/posts scores on exams the same night they are taken. They're returned the very next day and he will often give points back if they're wrongly graded. Had him for organic 1/2 and learned to love the subject.
Definitely the nicest of all O.Chem 1 teachers. SO willing to help students outside of class, even if you ask the same question over and over. Definitely glad I took him. Not a mean bone in his body.
material on tests is all covered in class so attendance is both helpful and mandatory with clicker quizzes daily
Nicest teacher ever. Will help you before and after class for however long you need. Tests are not easy and you have to put in a lot of work, but he does not mind explaining the same concept over and over again until you know it. Wonderful person, and by far the nicest teacher I have had yet.
Excellent teacher. Definitely the best for Organic I. He is extremely smart, super nice, and quite helpful. Review sessions every Sunday night before a test, occasional clicker quizzes, OWL homework, and problem sets. Doesn't require you to memorize the small details like the structure of certain solvents. Learn concepts and you're golden!
Orgo is hard no matter what and requires a lot of time. But he was a great teacher and was extremely reasonable on tests and homework. Do all the homework because it really helps your grade at the end. Reading the book also really helps. Go to lecture because he does random clicker quizzes. Overall, he was awesome and I wish he was teaching orgo 2.
Really nice guy who was willing to help his students out, but organic will always be really difficult. I thought his tests were much harder than the homework and the tests from years past, so be prepared to study far in advance for each exam.
Dr. Shaughnessy is one of the best teachers I've ever had! He is super nice, easy to understand, and really cares about his students. He occasionally has some tricky questions on his tests, but overall they are fair. He gives hw and clickers to help your grade. TAKE ORGANIC WITH HIM.
Shaughnessy is my favorite teacher at UA. As long as you come into the class with the attitude that organic chemistry is tough regardless of the teacher, you will do great in his class. Keep up with the notes, don't get behind, and use all of the resources he makes available. I haven't had a college professor who provides so many extra resources
Best teacher at UA. I suck at chemistry and I am keeping up in class due to him. He gives you so many resources and is seriously concerned with your grade. People in other classes have looked at my old exams and said they wish they would've taken him. It's by no means easy, but he makes his tests clear and reflective of the lectures.
Shag Hnessy is the man. Best teacher on campus. His class isn't bad based on the material and he cracks amazing jokes.
Dr. Shaughnessy is the department head so he really knows what hes talking about, and how to explain it to others. Great lectures, VERY clear notes, and he truly wants you to do well. Will take him for Organic 2 because I liked his style of teaching so much. Organic is difficult, but if you stay up on the material he is teaching, you will do well.
Best and nicest organic teacher you can take. His tests are a little tricky, but he does a great job of posting plenty of practice problems, practice exams, and study guides that tell you exactly what you need to know. He's super helpful during office hours. Go to every recitation and Sunday review session, they make everything much more clear.
Take Dr. Shaughnessy for Organic! He is the best professor I have had at UA (or ever). His notes are very thorough. He is so helpful in office hours and will spend as long as he needs to with you. Tests are challenging but it's very possible to make an A. Just use the study materials he provides and go to classreview sessions. TAKE HIM.
Hands down one of the best professors I have ever had. As others have mentioned, he is always willing to sit down with students and spend as much time as necessary for them to walk away understanding the material. Organic can be a brutal class just because of the amount and complexity of material, but he made it interesting and enjoyable.
He provides past tests for studying. If you go to class, you'll be able to make an A very easily. He uses OWL for homework, but beware: he'll change the due dates to reflect his lecture content and won't tell you. Random clicker questions during most classes. If you have an organic 2 teacher, TAKE HIM!!!
He is a great teacher who gives you all the tools you need to succeed. Show up to class and use his study guides for the tests and do all the practice problems he has online. Tests are difficult but that is the nature of organic. One of the best teachers I have had thus far.
If he is teaching the Organic 2 lab I would really consider taking it a different semester. The labs are graded on accuracy and precent yields which is nearly impossible to get right for a lab. His quizzes are extremely tough and the labs are graded on a rubric you will never see (we asked) this wasn't my grading TA.. it was the rubric he sat.
Shaughnessy is a great guy, he's the one to take for Organic. He's helpful, but all of the grading is done by TAs, some of whom are better than others. As far as lab is concerned, you don't really see a whole lot of him.
Kevin's a total bro. Uses lots of humor and tries to make organic as stomachable as possible. He makes the most complex simple and is always willing to answer questions. By far the best professor in the chem department
Really nice & funny guy, but he's teaching a very hard class so you'll have to work hard for a good grade. Very good at explaining things, and very open to answering questions. Organic Chem is complicated, but he does his best to make it understandable. You're not going to get a better CH231 prof here.
I took him for orgo I, and he was an amazing teacher! This course is tough and requires a lot of work, but he made it easier to understand. Pay attention in class, absolutely do NOT skip any recitations or Sunday night review sessions, study hard, and you can do very well with him teaching! Clicker's are for attendance but won't be on tests.
Dr. Shaughnessy gives his students every opportunity to succeed in what is a notoriously difficult class. His lecture is phenomenal, he is extremely accessible outside of class and always so happy to work with you, and provides TONS of study resources. Tests have 2 bonus points built in and the final can replace your lower test grade if it helps.
I took Dr. Shaughnessy, who I lovingly refer to as "KShaughn" for both 231 and 232. He is such an amazing professor and I'm sad that I can't continue to have him. His tests are hard but once you learn the format you know how to study and do very well. Test averages tend to be around an 80. I got a B in 231 and an A- in 232. TAKE KSHAUGHN MWF 10am.
Dr. Shaughnessy is a fantastic professor! He is so caring. His notes are a bit disorganized, but he explains things really well. I would take his notes, read the book, and rewrite it to organize things. His tests are challenging, but doable. Make sure to go to his review sessions! Also, he gives OWL and problem sets before each exam.
Dr. Shaughnessy is a great professor, the material is just very difficult. He is super accessible outside of class and provides tons of additional resources to study from. The homework tends to be easier than the tests, so it helped to go to office hours or learn from the book/internet when you're shaky on a topic. Overall a really nice prof!
I absolutely loved Dr. Shaughnessy. He's the firs professor I've had that really takes the trouble to go step by step through the material. I worked my butt off in his class, but he really helped by providing plenty of study materials and old exams. Comparing from my friends in other classes, he definitely seemed like the best for 231.
Non mandatory attendance, but you'll want to go for the clicker points. Office hours take forever, even if you arrive early there's a long line and he may not even get to you within the hour. Homework isn't necessarily hard, just time-consuming and online. He's not a bad professor, but all he does is write on the board while lecturing.
First and foremost, this is a difficult class. The reputation of organic chemistry proceeds itself. Dr. Shaughnessy takes a very difficult subject and tries to make it as easy to understand as possible. His lectures are fantastic and his drawings really help you visualize the reactions. He makes it a priority that you understand the material.
Test were super difficult. 4 tests and the homework and clicker questions didn't count much toward our overall grade.
This is obviously a hard class, but I don't think he makes it any easier. He expects you to know super specific rules or exceptions but won't clearly state them until the review session two days before the exam. He is a good lecturer and is clear during class, but I don't think the tests always match up to the lectures.
It's orgo 2. No matter who you have it's gonna be a nightmare. But he definitely makes it more manageable with his drawings and review sessions. His tests are tough but fair, and he gives a ton of practice resources a week before the exam. A solid choice for a super tough class.
Dr. Shaughnessy is a clear lecturer and knows what he's talking about but his tests are extremely difficult. He does review sessions and provides practice problems but he will still find ways to ask trick questions. This class requires a LOT of studying and pretty much the grade you get on tests will be your final grade. Can't slack ever. Good luck
Organic 2 is much tougher than organic 1, but Dr. Shaughnessy is an amazing professor and tries to explain things as clearly as possible and he truly wants every student to succeed! He holds review sessions the Sunday night before each test and provides a lot of study resources! Tough class, but he makes it as easy as possible!!
Dr. Shaughnessy is a great professor. Lectures were clear, and Sunday review sessions gave hints for exams. Tests are over 90% of final grade, so you must score what you want in the class. Tests are formatted exactly like practice exams. You must be proficient in arrow pushing mechanisms/synthesis to do well! Final grades ended up on 11 pt scale.
Organic Chem 2 is hard, but if you have good foundations from your orgo 1 professor and pay attention in class, you can do well. He is especially helpful in office hours, if you decide to go.
Dont have enough space for the good things I could say about Dr. Shaughnessy. Super understanding and accessible outside of class and truly cares about his students. Does his best to make the class understandable and interesting. Great choice for 232
Best prof Ive had at UA, he truly wants to see his students succeed. Clear lecturer, very accessible, provides practice problems and practice tests, holds review sessions, etc.
Dr. Shaughnessy is AMAZING. Never had a chem teacher that I felt like cared this much about his students. He made ochem understandable. A true gem! Take him.
Dr. Shaughnessy is one of the best lecturers I've ever had. He made orgo as simple and straightforward as possible and he's good at explaining difficult topics. He gives tons of resources to prepare for exams, do them and you'll be fine. Go to his office hours whenever you can because they're incredibly helpful. Amazing professor!
Dr. Shaughnessy is one of the best professors I have had in college so far. He teaches very efficiently and gives numerous practice problems to study for exams in addition to a problem set and past exams. His clicker questions in class are a small part of your grade as well as the homework. He cares about his students and has a kind heart.
This is my second time taking CH231 and he is much better than my first professor! Lectures prepare you well for the exams, easily accessible outside of class, good at answering questions, etc. He truly wants you to succeeded. I went from failing organic chemistry to ochem being my favorite class because of him. Excited to have him next semester
Dr. Shaughnessy made me go from hating Orgo to it becoming my favorite class. He has interactive clicker questions every class period to test where you stand on the material and give you a baseline for where to begin studying. Went from making a C- my first time in Orgo to making the A with him. Take him if you can! Lots of practice worksheets also
Dr. Shaughnessy was a great professor! He really cares about his students and wants you to succeed. Even thought organic chem is a difficult class, I enjoyed learning it because he was an amazing professor and was available for help outside of class. Definitely take him for orgo I and II!
By far my favorite professor so far at UA!! Orgo is challenging but Dr. Shaughnessy does everything he can and more to prepare his students for exams. Take advantage of the resources he posts, attend office hours, and put in the work and you should succeed in his course.
Dr. Shaughnessy is the BEST! 100000% would recommend taking him for organic chemistry. I used to be so confused by orgo but he explains everything so clearly and actually helps you learn instead of memorize. He offers extra credit to help boost low exam scores and to curve the class grade. Gives plenty of practice problems to prepare you for exam.
He provides so many practice materials and optional homework assignments to give you as much as you need to perfect your skills. The more you do outside of class, the better you can expect to do. The practice exam/study guide he gives is a perfect reflection of the exam so if you do well on that you will do just fine! He's great. (Summer 1 Term)
Professor Shaughnessy is a caring professor and give his best at teaching lectures. Even if you pay attention in class, you won't pass until you spend sometime working problems and memorize little bit of reaction/reagent stuff. if you do that, you will do fine in any Organic course. Good luck everyone
I had KS for orgo 1&2. KS is hands down the best prof at UA. If you have the opportunity TAKE HIM. The best thing is KS has one on one appts you can schedule with him. if you want to do well, go to class, participate, meet with him outside of class and study. Shaughnessy often fixes the grading scale at the end of the course for a curve as well!
Shaughnessy was awesome. No-nonsense, got at the heart of what you needed to know for his exams without inserting a bunch of fluff to make grasping the material more difficult. About 80% of the grade was tests, but the homework and in-class clicker questions were easy. Practice exams closely resembled the real thing. Take him if you can.
Dr. Shaughnessy is so helpful. He posts videos of the lectures if you have to miss class, practice problems, practice tests, all the lecture powerpoints, and you can schedule meetings with him if you can't make it to his office hours. He has clicker questions, so you should go to class, but it's only 5% of your grade. His tests are fair, but hard.
Hands down the best professor for Organic Chemistry. This is a hard class, but Dr. Shaughnessy does his best to make sure we all succeed. He even held review sessions for us before every single exam when he could have been at home. So easy to schedule a meeting with him, and he never made me feel less than for not knowing the answer to something.
Shaughnessy was by far the best science professor I have had. He is clear, to the point, cares about his students, and has a great way at explaining topics needed to succeed. He posts all of his lectures so that you can rewatch (helped me so much for exams), posts practice exams, and is available to meet all the time.
By far my favorite prof. at UA. Dr. Shaughnessy is a fantastic and clear lecturer, not to mention very patient and accessible should you ever need help. He is very supportive & genuinely cares about his students' success. Tough class, but he gives you all the resources necessary to succeed, and the tests he gives are fair. TAKE HIM FOR ORGO!
Shaughnessy is a wonderful professor who really cares about his students. Each of his tests were curved by 2 points, and the final was curved 4 points. The course is very exam heavy, so really try to capitalize on the first 2 exams. The final is worth 25% of your grade, and it replaces your lowest test score. Overall, I highly recommend! Take him!
Great professor who is very accessible in / out of the classroom. Orgo is hard regardless, but Dr. Shaughnessy does a great job. I wouldn't take anyone else for this class.
I loved Dr. Shaughnessy. Orgo is a difficult class with a lot of material but Shaughnessy does everything he can to help you succeed. Incredibly accessible and helpful outside of class. Each exam has a tiny bit of extra credit, and not too much homework. Take advantage of the resources he gives you. One of the kindest professors.
Kevin is an awesome professor for orgo 1.The class isn't easy because organic chemistry is always gonna be hard, but he is fair and tries to make orgo as clear as possible. His lectures have clicker questions, go to class. He gives good practice tests. Go to office hours if you have a question, he is super nice and approachable.Get him for orgo 2
Shaughnessy is a great prof, and probably has the easiest exams in the department. That said, he definitely leaves you on your own for learning the material, as the homework in OWL is far less intensive than other profs and he doesn't give recommended problem sets from the textbook either. That said, super nice guy and very intuitive lectures.
Best ochem professor at the university. Practice problems and exams are a great representation of the real tests and he is readily available outside of class. He will always have a knowledgable answer to any question asked in class. Makes ochem as easy as possible while still teaching it in a way that his students will get the most out of it.
I loved O-chem. I had KS for 231 and 232. He did more than teach, he made it intuitive. I found class very engaging, and KS is a big reason why. He really is the best! Use the textbook, do the practice, and go to office hours! For future students, O-chem won't be easy, but don't let its reputation worry you; it's not as bad as you think it'll be.
Truly one of the best teachers I have ever had. Orgo is a hard class, but KHS does everything he can to help his students. Test reviews on Sundays, practice exams that match the format of the exams, and practice problems set you up for success. He doesn't force you to memorize tiny details, rather he cares that you understand the actual concepts.
KEVIN IS THE BEST THERE IS! He truly wants you to succeed. This class is so intimidating but he teaches in a way that makes it so understandable and I felt so confident by the end of his class. He provides so many resources and is always accessible in office hours! Definitely take him if you can!
He really is a great teacher. Organic chem can be a difficult topic, but he teaches it passionately, making it a bit easier to pay attention in class. He gives practice tests and study guides which are a lifesaver and totally recommend doing
Dr. Shaughnessy is hands down my favorite professor that I have had at UA. He is caring and accessible outside of class. The class material is extremely difficult but Dr. Shaughnessy does an amazing job teaching it and made me feel so supported as a student. He also takes the time to learn the names of many students.
In my opinion, Dr. Shaughnessy is the best professor at the University of Alabama. I had him for both CH 231 and CH 232 (I was very lucky), and I've never met another professor more willing to assist students. I went to his office hours every week, and every week he was more than happy to help answer my questions. By far the best chem prof. at UA.
I was nervous before coming into Organic Chemistry, but Dr. Shaughnessy made the transition as easy as possible. He somehow managed to simplify a challenging class and cracked jokes when least expected. I took Dr. Shaughnessy for both 231 and 232, and I am in denial that I will no longer have him as a lecturer. Truly unmatched professor.
Dr. Shaughnessy is the best professor I have ever had at UA. Even though I did not do great in this class, Dr. Shaughnessy never gave up on me and treated me with the upmost respect. He was so accomodating when I got sick this semester, and I knew I could also go to him for help. I would plan my whole schedule around being able to take him!
Even though I didn't do great in this class, I still think Dr. Shaughnessy was an objectively good professor. You should definitely start studying at least a week in advance before exams though.
Easily my favorite science teacher at UA. Teaches the material well and gives very fair tests.
He is a great professor and I recommend him. Even though I did not do great in the class, he does provide lots of resources for you to succeed. His tests are graded harshly sometimes but do lots of practice before and you should be fine. I would start studying early for the tests.
Dr. Shaugnessy is a good choice for orgo 2, especially if you're looking for which professor is the easiest. He posts all of his lectures/recitations online, but you have to go to class for clicker questions. He doesn't curve any of his exams, but I would say they are easier than those of other orgo professors.
Great guy, organic will be hard no matter what and requires effort, but his class was super fair and much better than the other organic professors from what I've heard.
LOVE Shaughnessy. So caring & wrote me a rec letter for grad school. He will reopen homeworks if you have a legit reason you couldn't complete it, he gave TONS of practice problems and resources, and his lectures are great. He also records lectures so you can rewatch them. Always answers emails quickly. Best prof I may have ever had.
Orgo is going to be hard no matter what, but Shaughnessy made it as easy as he could. Such a kind man & always willing to help you if you ask. Attendance was through clicker questions, and you got a few freebie absences. Homework isn't too bad & tests were very fair. I didn't do super well bc I am terrible at chem lol but I appreciate Shaughnessy.
Professor Shaughnessy is an excellent teacher who truly wants students to succeed. Though Organic Chemistry is challenging, his lectures, resources, and accessibility make it manageable. Utilize Unstuck study and office hours for extra support.
Best choice for Orgo. I took Blackstock and ended up dropping the class because I was making Cs/Ds on his tests. Now I'm in Shaughnessy consistently making As on the test. Orgo is hard, but Shaughnessy prepares you very well. He does not try to trick you, he simply tests you on the material and gives you so so many practice problems and study tools
He is the best in the chem department because he teaches so well and is caring to all his students in so many ways(notice: there aren't any bad reviews). Orgo will challenge you no matter who you take but you are much more likely to understand it and have a social life with him. If he isn't offered, wait to take him, it makes a difference trust me.
Dr. Shaughnessy is the best orgo professor at UA, cannot recommend him enough. Orgo is a difficult class but Shaughnessy explains the material well, and his exams are fair. He gives practice exams that are the exact structure of the real exam, so make sure to do them. It requires studying, but an A is definitely possible.
Dr. Shaughnessy is a fantastic professor and his Orgo 1 is not excessively hard. He's going to help you as much as possible.
Professor Shaughnessy is one of the best professors I have ever had at UA. He truly cares about his students and wants them to succeed. His lectures are very easy to follow and super thorough, and his homework isn't too bad. He gives practice exams that are the exact format of the exams given, along with other practice questions for each unit.
The LeBron of chemistry. Shaughnessy turns a normally very difficult class into a very understandable challenge so long as you put the work in. By far one of the best professors I have ever had, and certainly the best chemistry course I've ever taken. Funny dude, plus he puts out tons of resources to practice with, so take advantage of that.
Dr. Shaughnessy is a great organic chemistry professor. Truly cares for his students success and teaches well. His review sessions go in depth and he covers what will be on exams. Practices exams and take home problems are very close to exams so study those. Always accessible outside of class if you need help. Class averages were C+ and higher.
Best professor I have had at the University. Class is difficult no matter who you take but KS is by far the best option. Truly fortunate to have had him for Organic 1 and 2. Blackstock kids will say he's "easy" but its just propaganda.
About as standard difficulty as you get. Do not take Blackstock, the rumors are true. This guy is kind and a great lecturer. Orgo is hard but just study and you'll be fine
Organic Chemistry is a hard class, but Shaughnessy makes it more bearable. He explains things in an easy-to-understand way and has no problems answering questions in class. He is passionate about what he teaches, and it shows. Tries to make his lectures more relatable to students rather than throwing jargon at us which I appreciate.
The best professor I have had in college. He explains such a complex subject in a way that anyone can understand. He uploads great practice materials that are similar to the problem type in exams. He is very clear on what will be tested and what will not be. Also, he is very accessible outside of class.
