Very Good! Teaches Calc as if to a kindergarten class. So easy to learn.
best Lecturer I've ever known, great notes! teaches very well, willing to help
he doesnt curve!!!!
Absolutely the best prof here - bar none! Teaches so that you to learn.
Explains in EXCESSIVE DETAIL; needs to get rid of attendance policy
clear, organized lectures. Much homework assigned.
Needs to do away with the pop quizes, but a very good prof
Pop quizzes needs to be gone. Easy notes to follow.
Hate to be redundant, but by far the best math prof. at KU. You da' man.
the Michael Jackson of mathematics...
He teaches for the idiot: if you dont need to know what you're doing, take him.
Most clear and understandable of all. watch out for pop quizes. Lose the glove
Great teacher. Explains well. Knows his stuff. Highly recommended. :)
Best Teacher Ever! Very Clear, Lots of Examples, Quiz's are easy & predicable
No Comments
Knows his stuff, conveys it well. Tests and quizzes are a little rough though.
Talks to you like your an infant. Knows his material. Makes it easy.
Take him if you have half a chance, he's fast paced, but more than glad to help you keep up.
Makes understanding and learning fun!
Very fair, lectures reflect quizes and exams, very methodical, if you pay attention you'll get an A--watch out for notation
Supplies you with plenty of handouts on topics. Hard grader.
Gives pop quizzes after each section so be prepared. Some cribs for quizes. Teaches very fast don't ask too many questions inclass or you will be punished with more h.w. Only 3 or 4 tests which is the majority of your grade.
Very organized, teaches very well. Covers a lot of material. Must study to do well. Always helps outside of class.
3rd Degree Blackbelt in the projector, (its all he teaches with). Do hmwk and get a good grade
The best prof here. Extremely organized, great teacher, and always willing to help. There is no reason to not get a good grade.
Couldn't be easier to understand. Notes are all you need to learn. But he is anal about grading. You'll actually learn everything taught in this class.
come to class, take notes, do homewrok, ace tests
Very good prof!! Lots of notes, be in class, and the class is easy...
He's the BEST math teacher here. Always willing to help. Awesome prof! Grades kinda stiff but its because he wants you to learn.
This guy is the man, teaches what you need to know, very clear, tests are just like the notes he gives.
This guy explains everything really well and the pace of the course is something you can keep up with. Gives predictable pop quizes, but drops your lowest score. RECOMMENDED!!
Tebeest is awesome. Explains the material well, and there is a lot of work, but damn does it help in the long run. Totally recommended. Only downfall is he is a stickler when it comes to grading. Don't expect your WAG in the high 90's. Probably mid or low
MULLET RULES
You'll feel as if you are in elementary school, cause the material presented is THAT clear. Amazing teacher. 2 tests, 3 projects, a final, and done. Everything is very fair, but he grades by the book. Nothing subjective. Nonetheless, Kettering's finest.
Goes very fast... must have a lot of time to work on it. Not an easy grader nor is he afraid to fail people!
Sucks, too much work. Does not realize student have 4 other classes and then his class. He gives you too much work. I am not for it, so I did all my work at the bar and dropped class. Praying for Dimitrov to teach it.

The 3 listed before me must be complete morons. I just went to class. Didn't do hardly any home work and aced every quiz and test. TeBeest is the man. Easy. Don't pay attention to the 3 assclowns listed before this review.
Contrary to the typical kettering nerd prior to this, the 3 before are correct. the mullet sux. the guy is an ok prof but sux with grading. takes points off for gay sh!t like no = signs, etc. reccommend only if you have no life and are a complete nerd
REMEMBER YOUR = signs!!!! Strict on symbols! Talks way too fast, LOTS of MAPLE! takes attendance - has seating chart, enunciates VERY well - fell asleep everyday!
Very easy class, never opened the book the whole term and got A's on the exams. The pop quizzes and the homework grade is what brought my grade down, if I did the homework probably would have aced the class.
Went to class almost every day. Lectures are GREAT! Repeats himself frequently. Did not have problems doing the homework as long as I took notes. The pop quiz & test ?'s were either directly out of the homework or VERY close. Math isn't my strong-point,but with minimal effort outside class,I passed.
Although he is a good teacher, he is very picky. Even if you get the right answers, if you don't do the problems the exact way he says they should be done, points are deducted. Don't forget +Cs and = signs. Don't fall behind on assignments.
From first impressions you might think he would be cool from his mullet/hippie hair. No bueno! This guy gives way too much homework and pop quizzes.Don't think about ever skipping class he keeps a seating chart.Pickiest cornhusker ever on tests. Not bad at teaching but still the class blows.
Drinks WAY too much coffee. Likes to kill trees and have you follow these insane rules on homework assignments that you never have to turn in, likes to throw pop quizzes at you on the 3 chapters he covered the day before AFTER you cover the info for today. If you suck on quizzes you are screwed.
Very good prof. and really cares about students learning. He does lay the homework on pretty thick, but its only to your benefit. Strongly emphasizes correct notation and 'math etiquet'. I gained a lot from his course and enjoyed it at the same time. He's ALWAYS willing to help. You just have to put the effort up.
This was an easy class, but it was really boring. Tebeest goes into so much detail sometimes that he could probably teach a 1st grader to do this stuff.
Great prof, any class that he is teaching take him if you need that class.
Very good teacher, repeats himself like a million times. His jokes are very cheasy but he is still funny for that reason I guess. Konws his stuff for sure. He likes tornadoes, HP's, and LOTR, so if you want to distract him talk about these subjects.
A real loser. Tried to tell us an inspiration story of how he saved all his money one summer to buy a calculator!?!? Probably, never talked to a girl in his life but man is he a good teacher. Take him cause you will never forget how to integrate. Grades harshly but for your own good. BEST MATH PROF!

Excellent professor! Very organized and easy to understand. Tests were straight-forward with no surprises. Definitely one of the best math profs at KU.
Wow...where to begin. The white gloves, the pointer, the mullet, the beard ... the list goes on. In all seriousness, a great math professor. Forces you to learn the material and repeats everything a million times.
Very thorough, may not be the easiest grader at the school but he doesn't have to be because he makes sure his students know their stuff. Excellent Professor
awesome prof! i failed diffy q then took tebeest and it all made sense! tebeeest is theBEST prof here! if you do the homework he made nums so easy to understand that a 5th grader could do it.
Excellent teacher! Goes at a nice pace, presented information on overhead in neat format. Maple projects were even easy to do! (a rarity!) Can be boring sometimes, but is only going slow to make sure students understand clearly. Big recommendation.
Teaches very well. Don't buy the book. Pay attention to the details of the methods. Ask him about light houses.
Very enthusiastic prof. Pay attention to the in class examples, take good notes, and you'll never need to crack open the textbook. Does most everything off of slides, but explains them really well and gives plenty of time to take notes. Maple assignments are super-cribable.
i think tebeest is the best prof at kettering. he takes up the whole class time, to the second, and he lectures the whole time, but he makes it interesting and he explains things extremely well. his tests are marginally difficult, but if you pay attention in class you will do very well. take him if you want to actually learn something.
Nice guy, pretty cribable. Maple hurts your grade though!
Repeats himself about 6 times before moving on, covers overheads so you can't read ahead on them, talks about his family and grad school a lot. Maple projects were really easy to complete. He also asks questions about Maple commands on the tests. Caters to the slowest in the class by going at a snail's pace. Very irksome. Come on people!
No point in buying the book besides doing the optional homework problems. Take good notes and study off of them. VERY cribbable
Very repetitve, beats knowledge into your head. easily cribbable, easy assignments
Great prof! breaks everything down to simple steps. makes it easy to unerstand and learn diffyQ
awsome! nmakes nums clear... attend and take notes and its really easy! he's incredable at describing nums and making it easy and relavant...take him!
had him for diffy Q and NUMS. he's the best at kettering by far!!! he made both clases fun and has a querky sense of humer... take good notes and do homework cause his lectures are the best!!!
TeBeest is the best math professor at K.U. I learned so much in this class, takes bits from calc 1-3 and diff eq. He actually has an applied background in engineering, unlike most math people. I use nooms in all my other classes! Tough but fair grader.
the guy is awesome! friends told me to take him and i see why. he really knows this stuff and knows how to teach it so its easy to undertsnad. easily the best prof at kettring.
TeBeest is the only prof at KU who's class I never fell asleep in. Makes the subject super easy, tests are cribable. THE FINAL INCLUDES EVERYTHING AFTER WEEK 4! Take GOOD notes, and try not to miss class because notes aren't available except from other people, he covers a lot of material, but does it very well. Best math prof at KU.
Great professor. Somewhat quirky at times, but does an excellent job of teaching and then reinforcing the material. Very knowledgeable about nearly everything math, science and engineering related. Highly recommended!
Extremely effective at conveying the material - you learn a lot! Three maple assignments, two exams and a final. The final was killer and was really long. But definitely the best prof for the class - really knows his stuff, and you will too.
he's the best by far. take him and take good notes his lectures are easy to follow for sure. would recomend him to anyone.
Awesome guy. I've always struggled with Calculus, and I learned a lot from this guy. If you have a good background, you'll do great. If you have a very weak background like me, you'll learn a lot, but the class will be difficult. Does an excellent job with notes. Not the easiest Calc 3 teacher, and unfortunately, cribs are in short supply.
He goes over everything very very slowly and then on the test throws in several trick questions. He teaches toward the math majors so if you are not stay away for this class! He grades very hard and made an easy Nums class hard!!
Tebeest is the man. He teaches clearly, repeats the information multiple times (so it's impossible to miss), and writes on the board neatly, so that you can take good notes. He prepares you well for his tests, but it takes a 95% to get an A. He also loves his 20 digit precision in Maple...
Very clear with his lectures and notes. However he is an extremly unfair grader. On maple hw all of my answers were correct, but I still got a C on the assignment because of name and staple placement. Ridiculous. Also he is very into students being independent so whenever I asked4help he told me to"look at the book again and try2find it on my own"
One of the best profs at Kettering. He shows real world applications for all the topics covered. He didn't collect homework, but it helped prepare for the weekly quizzes. The quizzes are only worth 10% of the grade and it helps you from falling behind. Take him if you can.
He wasn't so bad through the first 2 exams. Everything was clear, and easy to understand. He teaches matrices like you have already learned them. Didn't do any matrix examples. Straight definitions for 2 weeks.
Very difficult if you do not know your stuff prior to coming to the class.
Fantastic techer! Great easy to folow lectures. Do his maple maple examples and the projects are easy just like he says. Always willing to help if you try. Showed how nums relates to real world. Knows engineering and gives exampls! Exams are easy if you keep up!
Best math prof now that McCartin is gone. TeBeest is very reasonable with his expectations and makes the class enjoyable. You'll learn a lot if you put in the effort.
He is the greatest professor that I have ever had. Top notch lectures. He has the course down to a science. Take this class if you actually want to learn the content and (if you put in the effort) get a good grade.
Professor TeBeest is the best math professor at Kettering. Go to class and you will learn from his lectures. The lectures may seem repetitive at times, but it forces you to learn the material and the examples he goes through are great. Test are straightforward as long as you know the material, there won't be any tricks or super difficult problems.
So, most people probably won't take the class I took with TeBeest, but I'm glad he was the one to teach it. Sure, he might be a bit preachy at times, and repeat information a lot, but that sort of stuff works in your favor, rather than against it. It's a good time.
TeBeest makes Nums an interesting subject, which is not easy! Grades very specifically. Be sure to get a good group for the maple assignments Pay attention and do HW and this is an easy class.
This is the worst professor at Kettering University. He is the most anal grader, and marks down points even if your answer is correct. If there is a short answer you must answer exactly as he wants or you get no credit. He even gives multiple choice questions where there is no correct answer. Avoid at all costs. He thinks he is great, but he is not
Dr. Kevin TeBeest has a passion for teaching and his lectures are great. I found them very interesting but many students ended up sitting on their phones the entire time. That being said, the man is the one word, 5 letter, definition of what you would call the feeling of being stuck with a thorn. The concepts are so easy he routinely grades as such
Great at explaining but the pop quizzes kill
Tied for the best, if not THE best, professor the the Math Department. Grating criteria are clear and articulated, explains everything slowly and repetitively in class, is available outside of class if you need help, and cracks jokes daily. Homework isn't collected, but doing it all but guarantees an A in the course. Absolutely recommend.
I'm very thankful I had Professor TeBeest for math 102. He explains the lessons flawlessly, and in a way that everyone can understand. Yes he will take off points in the tests if you use incorrect notation, but not enough to actually hurt your grade. If anything him doing this fixed my bad habits. I hope I get this professor again, he was great.
I took Nums as an elective with Dr. TeBeest. A lot of people warned me prior to taking the class, but they were wrong. He gives clear expectations on what he's looking for and thoroughly prepares you for the tests with the homework he assigns. Homework is not mandatory, but I recommend actually doing it because it makes the tests so much easier.
He goes slow and makes sure you understand the material, but the exams are the entire class grade.
One of the most boring lecturers I have ever had. I still cannot believe that he puts maple formulas into his tests and quizzes. If you do not memorize the code you will not get above an 85% on his quiz/tests. Weird guy overall carries a drumstick in his back pocket for some reason.
TeBeest is one of the best professors I have had at Kettering. He loves his students and has a passion for all he is teaching, and you can tell this is true during class Pay attention in class and study, but if you do this you will have a great term. Would definitely recommend.
Lots of cribs available. Changes wording and functions to force you to learn the material, but it's not difficult. Assigns 3 maple projects. Maple is the poor mans version of MatLab basically, and it's horrible to use. Lectures are a bit boring. Repeats himself a lot. Does care about students. Very strict "no phones" rule. Overall not bad out of 10
Okay Prof. If you have cribs, you will be fine with the 2 tests. Maple projects are horrible. He grades then incredibly hard. He takes attendance, but its not part of your overall grade. You get assigned seats. HW is optional. Takes up the whole hour to teach a concept that could take 15min. He tests on conceptual stuff. Not just solving problems.
He took one of the hardest classes at this school and made it digestible and easy to follow. To do well complete the web assigns and take good notes.
Professor Tebeest while having a good lecture that is easily digestible and easy enough to follow the man himself is a nightmare to deal with. He is dismissive of problems you may have with your groupmates in the assigned projects and how he comes across in emails and on his exams is extremely holier than thou. records lectures gives basic eq sheet
Tebeest is passionate about teaching this class (Fill-in notes). Hard to talk with at times. I strongly disagree with 2 exams, 2 projects and a final. I wish we had bi-weekly quizzes. I felt that after doing all the hw, going to office hours/peer teaching, it was still not enough. I was stressed a lot from this class. Good luck if you take him....
Take a look at all of the 4-5/5 reviews on this page. All of them are suspicious. Tebeest wrote them himself. Try not to take him!
ALL of the GOOD reviews on this site are written by TEBEEST HIMSELF! Read through them and you will see how sus they are!
One of the worst profs I've ever had. Boring lectures which are mostly definition, barely any example problems. Repeats himself way too much. VERY anal grader and takes forever to grade. 2 tests, 2 projects, and final are your entire grade. Had the class curved BACKWARDS so you must score 1-3% HIGHER for grade you want. Talks too highly of himself.
Prof. TeBeest fails to teach the course material in an easy way. He does show example problems. If you email him after 5pm, he won't respond. He talks like he wants to help you but does not care about your understanding, well-being, or financial future. Also, he writes good reviews about himself.
All the lectures are PowerPoint based and fill in the blank, which sounds nice until you have to do it 4 days a week for an entire term. The homework isn't graded but it's essential to getting a good grade on the tests. He pretends like his class is the only one you're taking, so be prepared. Very tough grader as well. I would not recommend him...
Tough grader. Read directions meticulously! Ex: Of a 50 point assignment, some peers had 3 pnts doc'd for not capitalizing the B in TeBeest. DO HOMEWORK! I suggest compiling the HW questions/topics stressed in lecture into a common doc for each exam. It's easier to study. Exams: 50% concepts, 50% math. Grading takes forever :(. Abbreviation heavy.
Just avoid him. Cheng and Ruby are better and I wish they taught this course. I did the homework, reviewed for over 20+ hours/week, went to office hours, asked questions in class, and still get the grade I got. He has an ego and I'm not for it. You either get an A or die trying with a C+ or lower. Grading is ridiculous. Take this course out!
This Prof. is a very tough grader. The tests will contain conceptual stuff which makes them much more annoying. HW isn't graded but doing it is almost necessary to get a good grade. Overall grade is very test heavy, sitting at 80% tests, 20% projects. Very unforgiving, especially if you do bad on a single test. Would not recommend this class.
Not even taking him this term. Evil, evil man. Worst professor I have ever had in my entire life. Thinks he is cool but he is really just stealing your money and putting the younger generation into debt. Don't take him ever
WRITES HIS OWN RATEMYPROFESSOR REVIEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
doesnt care about students
doesnt care about his students
doesnt care about his students understanding
doesnt care about his students learning
doesnt care about his students financial future
doesnt care about his students well being
doesnt care
dont take this class
doesnt like his students
Professor Tebeest is an outstanding professor and cares a lot about his students, especially when it comes to passing the class and their financial future.
The review below "Professor Tebeest is an outstanding professor and cares a lot about his students, especially when it comes to passing the class and their financial future." was written by Tebeest himself. We all know what you are doing Kevin. And no, you don't care about students passing your class. You probably get off to when they fail.
Was not feel comfortable being in this professor's course. Mainly read off the slides. I tried to access him outside of office hours via email and he would often get upset with me when I asked to meet due to my class scheduling. Kevin has a very ego that gets in the way of his relationship with students. Was not a fan of his behavior last term.
Honestly one of the worst professors I have ever had(this is my second degree) The best advice I can give someone going into his class is to drop it as soon as you can and take it with another professor. He does not care, he only grades you on like 4 things in total. He treats his students like they are in middle school. This man needs to retire.
He's not a terrible person like they make it seem, however wouldn't recommend taking the class. He talks non-stop, and if you did everything he expects you to do, you wouldn't have time for any other classes. I have found the material is not as hard as it looks when you study it on your own. He just doesn't realize his teaching methods don't work.
Professor TeBeest has a very specific teaching style, but engaging with it can pay off. Definitely use Unstuckstudy and the free textbook to supplement the lectures. Attendance is a must, and the grading is tough, so stay on top of your work.
I'm now graduated but wanted to come back just to flame Tebeest. By far the worst teacher/prof I've ever had in my entire life including K-12. Tenure is a shame. Kevin, I want you to know that I am in an additional $10k in debt thanks to you! Your discretion on some of my quizzes/assignments led to me having to take your class outside of KU. Thanks
So the story about Kevy here is that he used to wear a top hat and use a pointer finger stick to teach class like some sort of magician. He doesn't do this anymore but this same ego shines through while he belittles you in class. If you want to be talked down to and feel like a kid again then take this class!
Kevin TeBeest is clearly passionate about his subject, and he does put a lot of work into his slides... but his ego gets in the way of everything else. There are multiple instances of TeBeest not knowing how to interact in situations with students asking simple questions. Creates an environment where students don't want to ask questions.
He's a good teacher, really. I have had TeBeest for many math classes now. He has helped me to create a strong understanding of calculus. I only struggled with receiving grace in the course. He does not give extensions, and doesn't mind failing students. If you study, do you homework, DONT FALL BEHIND, and review his lectures, you will do fine.
