Almost-Dr. Wells is an engaging and enthusiastic instructor. The material covered for the course, System One and Two theory, is based in psychology, which made this course much more bearable (for me at least). We wrote a total of three papers throughout out the semester, but they were lengthier than the other DISC classes. Great class!

3 essays on a 100 page reading. Probably not a better option to take disc 1313. Doesn't let you use "to be" verbs in essays which is hard to adjust your writing but overall really enjoyable class. He has meetings set up to help guide you too. 100% take him and don't turn anything late.

Thought I'd hate this class, but it ended up being my most favorite. Guy's the best teacher you can ask for, don't get intimidated and take the damn class y'all. Thought I wouldn't like this class since I don't like writing, but Prof Wells definitely makes this course so much fun. The essays are manageable, and you get to have a conference with him for every essay. I would definitely recommend him if you are going to take this course

THE BEST DISC PROF. Only 3 essay the entire semester, all over the same book, and one was only like 2 pages long. The class size is pretty small, so each time we meet its just one big conversation. Nobody is required to talk and you aren't graded on it, but you'll probably find yourself wanting to because of how personable Professor Wells is.

Wells is the best Professor i've had till date here at SMU. He's more than fair, genuinely cares and puts in effort for his students, a real laugh and has a professing style that is very much in tune with what students look for in an ideal course.

He usually breaks the 80 minute class times into 40 minute breakout groups which are so helpful. He gives good feedback and if you go to his workshops/writing conferences (usually 10 min on Zoom) he is very helpful and your essay grades will improve because of his advice. Take him for sure!!

Professor Wells genuinely cares about what he is teaching his students. He purposefully crafts a thought-provoking and engaging course for his students. Seriously recommend taking him, it is not a mistake. I was on the edge of whether or not to take his course, so just do it. He cares about your grasp of course material and your understanding.

The best thing I can say about Kevin Wells is that his classes are not lectures, they are discussions. WRTR is a required course for SMU, and I thought I would dread this class, but Kevin made it something I was excited to attend. He is always available, his feedback genuinely helps, and he is more than an interesting character. Love the guy.

Wells uses breakout rooms which are great because they eliminate the time you need to be in class but you are still learning everything you need to know. No busy work besides readings which I would recommend doing because it will help you write your essays. If you are looking for a good professor who loves his job, Wells is who you should take.

Kevin Wells is one of my favorite professors I have ever had. He is extremely caring of his students and ready to assist them with anything they need. Really fun class. Prof Wells really engages with his students and definitely makes this mandatory credit less of a hustle. You have to take this class either way, so pick him and you will have a great time and most likely a good grade.

Great guy that keeps class exciting. I liked the breakout groups and the conferences. You should really go to the conferences because he gives good feedback. I usually had two conferences with him per paper, one to clarify my ideas/essay structure and one as I was finishing the paper. He's probs the most fun wrtr prof on campus, 10/10 recommend.

Definitely the best Wrtr1313 teacher! The class works very efficiently with minimal work and time spent. Only 3 essays including the final. Conceptually the class can be a bit difficult, but if you don't understand you can go to the conferences where he is a great aid. Overall this class was great.

Professor Wells is by far my favorite SMU teacher ever. He not only cares but appreciates his students. In his writing class I think I learned more than I have the entire semester and honestly, I felt like I didn't even do that much. He does breakout groups which seems scary at first but you get out of class like 40 minutes early so it's a win!

Great class, I would definitely recommend taking this professor. He has really interesting lectures that always keeps you engaged. The final essay was over a really fun topic and the other essays were easy since we wrote small parts of it before hand.

Prof. Wells is great and even if you are not a big reader his materials are interesting. You will actually learn a lot from this class and not only that but enjoy discussions. He is always able to help and does not take up anyone time.

His readings are enjoyable and he provides you with the PDFs so you don't have to purchase the textbooks. He's open to feedback and discussion about his class and the course as a whole.

It is a very well-rounded course. Lots of great concepts and knowledge, but the writing can sometimes be overwhelming. If you can, def get started with your final essay early on as it can take considerably more time than your other papers.

Mr. Wells class is very thought-provoking and interesting. Attendance is required but we do break out groups so you don't always have to wake up early. Read the assigned readings as you have a knowledge check after every assignment but really easy. Just do you work and you will have a good grade

I HIGHLY recommend Professor Wells! He makes class very engaging.

He is a super engaging teacher that finds a way to make writer fun. If you just pay attention and do the required readings you should be able to get an A.

Professor Wells did a really good job at making me want to learn, and not making me feel like it was a burden to come to class and do the assignments. I wouldn't say this class is the easiest thing by any means, but I was also able to obtain an A without trying too hard; as long as you do the assigned work, you should do well.

I was thinking about skipping this course because I had transfer credits, but I stayed in it because of Professor Wells. And I am so happy I did! He is a great, chill professor that gives you knowledge that you can apply to your life outside school and makes you feel like he is a peer (but read the pdfs to get the most out). Absolutely take him!

Professor Wells is a super funny, smart, and engaged WRTR's teacher. If you are looking for a easy WRTRS that you will still learn in, this is the class for you. He breaks the class into two groups, so you only have to attend half of each class. Great conferences, but they arent mandatory. Easy A if you do most of the work.

Best teacher I've had so far at SMU. Definitely take this class for 131,3 only a few papers, and is actually useful compared to other courses. Really helps you with material that is used in daily life and you don't just forget everything the second class is over.

Definitely one of the most engaging profs you can take for WRTR to the point it didn't feel like a mandatory course. Realistic work load, definitely easy enough if you're skilled in writing and reading (if not though he fair and is good at feedback).

He was great & entertaining. His lectures were engaging and easy to partcipate in. We had 3 essays and he was always availiable if help was needed. All essays were done in class. Minimum quizzes and no outside work required. All essays were based off his own summaries of texts written by the greek. Pretty interesting and easy to write about.

Sessions were enjoyable, the texts were easy to read, even got to know the professor personally. Note: you can't write the papers outside of class you have to use lockdown browser in class.

Professor Wells is a wonderful person and teacher! He genuinely cares about each of his students and always makes his classes interesting (Socratic Seminar style). The great thing about this class is that all the essays are written during class so you have no outside assignments, and your work is genuine because you are prevented from using AI.
