Easy class! Great teacher, easy exam (get to use your notebook) combined with a good lab score, you'll get an easy B or A.
I guess his upper division teaching is different form undergrad. He comes into class and starts lecturing. Don't expect a study guide for the tests. No notes or open book test. If you caught cheat, you may as weel say goodbye to CSULA. Other than being hard, you learn alot his class is not boring.
if you like hot guys ... Yeah. Something for you to look at for 10 weeks ;).
very easy and helpful.
Great teacher...you won't regret taking the class. Labs can be boring though. He is known to be funny...just don't ****him off.
This is a class that is very hard, because you have to memorize alot of information. He lectures alot and mainly grades you on exams, paper, presentation. But this man gives assignments that will boost your grade and attendance/ participation will help you out. I got a C grade and was happy. Theme F
extremely hard, changed the format of his exams, only tells you to study everything, no study guide, no curb, sometimes very boring, you no longer needd this class for Masters program for Social Work.
Hard class, terribel teacher, hates to be contacted, is not helpful, blames anything that goes wrong on the students, tests have nothing to do with what you are studing, the whole class failed the mid term, is very unhelpful and should not be teaching. Whatever you do stay away.
This professor wasn't exactly hard. although lecture is quite clear, he doesn't really explain what he exactly wants on his assignments. he'll tell u one thing, give a rubric, u'll do it, and when u get it back, points are taken off for things he didn't tell u about! but he's nice!! =P this class was supposed to be a cinch, too. *awaiting the grade

hates his job and life, wants to be in class less than the students do (!), does not want to be contacted outside of class, generally vindictive personality
This teacher does not care about what the students ask him in class. Sometimes, you will hear him complaining about how he does not want to be a teacher. He justifies his negligence in class with that he is only a part-timer. Someone like him should not be qualified to teach in a University. Do not take his class.
It was easy because I had already covered the material and needed to take this class as part of my GEs and to review. Loved looking at him the minute I saw him. Tall, dark and handsome. go to his office hours before class and talk to him about questions you have regarding lecture material, don't bother him too much with off tangent questions. has a good sense of humor and kept the class rolling the whole quarter. intuitive yet kind of crazy. my friend too his class and now refers to him as Krazy Kholl
I have him for Anatomy at Los Angeles City College. He is always angry, impatient, and a general $!#*. He obviously hates teaching and tries to intimidate his students into leaving him alone and asking no questions. He's insulting, condescending and a terrible teacher. I've never dreaded a class like I do his. I'm learning in spite of him.
Animal biology was great! Loved labs with Maria, his assistant. Got to work with Beta Male fighting fish and other fun stuff. Good idea to read, review, prestudy, and make a list of questions in advance so that you don't get behind on anything. Study hard and don't be afraid to ask questions, just don't interrupt lectures, wait for him to notice you and ask or go to his office hours and ask or email him. This class is a basic building block for premed and prenursing and prepharmacy majors, so studyhard
Made an otherwise horrible class a bit more palatable. Wasn't exactly the most patient of people, but he was very clear on what he wanted and made sure that tired students didn't fall asleep. He's another (of many) people in the department who's influenced me to go to stay on macro scale and become a biogeographer/forester.
This professor is HoRrIBlE! BEWARE...he is very vague about class projects and what he cites in his syllabus isn't always true. He places questions of chapters not yet covered on the exams as if he is setting you up to fail. Wants you to study EVERYTHING! And if someones cell phone rings in class he says he will deduct 5 points off of everybody.
I took this class as an upper division theme class for Theme F. This class was very hard and I thought that it would be mission impossible to pass. Professor Khollesi was very patient and just told me to do my very best on all areas of the class I got a C. I would recommend Professor Khollesi for this class because its an upper division theme class
He's a little bit of a tough grader, doesn't teach very well. I dont' know. It looks like he HATES teaching, he doesn't like students asking questions, his face looks like he's constantly miserable. Other than that, great class. Study hard on your own or in grps
Great professor. Have to work hard for my A but possible with him. He has high expectation but is willing to explain every single question and giving feedback before the due date.
Khalil is not a professor to avoid. If you study regularly, you will do great. It seems like you can coast through his class but on the toughness scale I would give him a 7.5 (10 being the toughest to get an A while slacking). He is really approachable but just has a bored look on his face most of the time.
I was forced to take this class and went in with dread. But Khollesi made this class as fun as possible while being completely professional and in the end I ended up loving this class. Highly recommended.
Pretty good teacher. For me, I had to attend every class so I could understand the material. Type up the notes from PowerPoint in small font and tape them in your lab manual for the test. Exams come from mostly from his PowerPoints. You may not have to read the book, but it does help.
just drop the subject if he is your prof... very hard to deal with. hard to get an A & B.
such a bad teacher. No book needed. Open notes test.I learned nothin in this class and it wasnt even worth taking. My suggestion is dont take it. Its hard to pay attention since hes so boring.
OMG. He is soooooooo boring!! He tries to be funny and gets the class to chuckle a bit because his jokes are so lame. We did not even need the book! WASTE OF MONEY! We were allowed to put his powerpoints in our notes to use during exams which was nice but I wish he would have TOLD US IN THE BEGINNING! Not helpful in answering questions either.
attendance not required but test are based on his lectures and the book. NOT OPEN NOTE Exams. 3 Exams. if you want to pass do good on lab and you be ok. his test are not eassy and are long 50 questions. I will recomend to go to class if you want to do good.
nice, you learn a lot and very interactive and clear. Fun class and enjoyed the lecture. He provide lots of examples for non-majors, great professor. I wished others were like him. Good instructors are very rare.
I like this teacher. He knows what he teaches and is a straight, no frills, no nonsense type of guy. Lays out the rules from the beginning, tells you what to expect so you can't complain if you just study. He's also pretty funny and always throws out these quirky examples to make sense of the lessons when it gets hard to understand. I recommend him
This instructor is very difficult. Especially for an upper division theme class! You really have to pay attention to the lecture and study weekly! Your grade definitely reflects how hard you study. He needs to work on giving clear directions of exam and what we need to focus. It is a bit overwhelming to take with other classes! STAY AWAY!
I like him as a person and he was helpful. But it was pretty much all lecture so sometimes difficult to stay awake. He does know what he is talking about and has some funny stories. If you were not a nursing student it was difficult - too much info for a 10 week class. My only C at CSULA. But, I did learn a lot.
Amazing lecturer. Learned a lot. You need to study to do well in this class. Highly recommended
This man knows his stuff. Best A&P lab professor. Very strict about cheating so don't even begin with it. Makes sure his students understand all of the anatomical and physiological concepts. Spend 35-49 hours EACH WEEK studying for this class. Do it effectively and you get an A. Not an easy class AT ALL. Lenient grader, in your favor if possible.
Professor Khollesi was awesome. We met once a week, so the lectures were long, but he tried his best to keep us interested. He is definitely willing to help. His tests are straight from the lectures, but I recommend reading as well. BELIEVE HIM WHEN HE SAYS THE FIRST TEST IS THE EASIEST! Grades are truly earned in this course. (Taken as theme.)
Class is pretty simple, quizzes every 2 chapters, 3 exams, a research paper, and a project. If you know bio pretty well you'll do good. Just pay close attention to the dysfunctions and diseases that are talked about in lectures. Also, every lecture PowerPoint is on moodle, and the book further explains what is discussed in class.
This class was overwhelming with information. Too much too much too much. If you do plan to take him, make sure you have enough time in your schedule to spend HOURS on studying to try to pass. First test, everyone did below decently. It's not the teacher, it's the class - but he teaches in overwhelming amount of info in a short period of time.
He is hands down one of the most smartest professors I have had.I felt like I was at a class in Harvard because he's lectures were so clear and amazing. He is a great professor that I definitely do recommend, HOWEVER the class itself is very difficult and time consuming. Try not to take other hard classes with this class, i would take him again
He has online lectures, make sure to attend and participate in it as participation does count. Pay attention in labs and do his study guides before the test and you'll be fine.
Most boring lecturer you could have, he's very knowledgable but he tends to repeat the same thing over and over. He likes to get off track from the powerpoint, but still finishes going over all the slides. He really makes you learn the material.
HES SUPER BORING.. all he does is read powerpoint, really no point of going to class. Memorize the powerpoint and you'll get an A on the midterm/final. Hell throw like 2 random impossible questions just so no one gets a 100. . I got an A because i memorized the slides.. Lab is a joke for 100c, i Never got out my seat in LAB lol
This is for non-bio majors and to my surprise it was easy! Of course, you definitely need to review. Professor has an accent but you'll get used to it. He likes to crack jokes and encourages students to go to office hours. 1 in class final and midterm. There are also quizzes due online since it's a hybrid class but It's manageable.
He was cool and funny at times, but he can also be mean. 1 midterm and 1 final. His tests were tough imo. You need to really study. He uses power-points. A lot of info. to remember. Hybrid class: online chats and met once a week. I don't recommend him. Take Israel Jimenez for lab! Lab is easy if you have a good group. He is really cool and helps!
He's the best teacher ever. I used to don't like Biology, but with him, I totally feel I fall in love with Bio. He teaches everything very clear, just come to class, take notes, and pay attention to what he teaches, you will have good grades. His lecture is very very helpful, it reduces time that you can spend for studying at home. Love him somuch
Best prof ever. I have never like Biol, but with him, I am in love with Biol. His lecture is extremely clear since he likes to draw to explain so that students can have concrete picture about physiology. Need to come to class so u dont waste time in reading textbook because he covered every material in his amazing drawing. 20pts EC is given
Professor Khollesi was amazing! I enjoyed every minute in his class. Aced every single exam but I know many who did not do well. Study study study!
Professor Khollesi is the real deal. His lectures are great and help reduce the study time for the course material. This class is hard, so it's up to you to spend time outside of it to memorize the material. Gives 2 Extra credit quizzes. Strongly recommend
For AP1 lab he's ok he does really want you to understand and tries his best to help you and make it easy/understandable. Posts his powerpoints and grades quizzes and practicals on time. Overall he's really good and he's great on updating things to know lists for practicals which is v. important to pass.
This professor goes above & beyond to help out his students, which helps since Anatomy is such a hard course already. Never had a professor like him who takes the time to draw/annotate on PPT slides. All other Anatomy profs would just read the slide, but not Prof Khollesi! He really cares about his students.
Profesor Khollesi is by far one of my favorite professors at CSULA. I didn't take him for BIOL 2010 but I enjoy taking him for BIOL 2020. I learned a lot in his class while doing extremely well on his exams. He makes everything easily understandable. However, I felt that most people took him for granted. I would definitely take him again!!!!!
amazing professor! his lectures are well thought out and clear, his diagramming of certain topics really helps you to visualize how the body works. it's obviously a hard class, it's physiology, duh. you definitely have to put in the time but his way of lecturing makes the material really clear to understand. he wants you to pass. would recommend!!
Horrible. All he does in lecture is read off the slides, and draws stuff that no one understands. He doesn't care about his class because he's part-time and he gives a lot of homework. He's strict on his tests, he will mark off 10 points if he sees your scantron on top of your test, and film your class.
Professor Khollesi is a wonderful person and teacher. I learned alot in his winter course and recommend student to take him. The lectures are the key to the test if you go to class and re-listen to the lecture you should do fine.
Bio 2010 is a very difficult class in general. There isn't a lot a professor can do other than present the information. Khollesi does manage to keep classes light and adds humor to make the challenging material a bit more memorable. He teaches straight off of the things to know list so that all the information you learn is potentially on the test.
He is a good professor. The testing can be exhausting, but that's up to the department. I feel like I haven't really seen his own teaching methods because of how the department makes them teach the class. I don't know if he forgot, but he only uploaded slides sometimes. For the few labs we did, he explained well and made it fun.
Although he is given the slides he has to show in lecture by the department, he goes out of his way and explains everything really great. He posts all his slides online, so it isnt mandatory to attend lecture, but it helps a lot to hear his explanations
He is a great professor. He will help you if you ask for it. This class is primarily up to students to memorize the material and dedicate plenty of time to it. For people who think bio 2010 lab is hard, be glad there isn't a final for this portion of the class or else you all would fail.
So many professors were very understanding of the pandemic situation except this one, class is mandatory and will not forgive if you do not attend no matter situation, he will give all exams and pop quizzes during class time which is only 50mins and never enough time, he will also give out random assignments due within class time
Professor Khollesi does't take into consideration of the on going situation nor his students issues. There is no make ups for anything. He is rude and does not allow any questions through out the lecture, and gets bothered if you ask. Regarding quizzes he only gives 1 minute per question, which adds a lot of stress. Theres no encouragement in class
Despite the ongoing pandemic, he does not accommodate for anyone who missed class despite their circumstances. At some random point in time, he makes everyone do 10 minute quizzes which added a lot more stress to the point where their grade depends on passing. I did not learn much from the class because of these things..
Worst professor I have every taken. I took him for Fall 2020 during the COVID pandemic and he did not care at all that we were going through a pandemic. Knowing students had to get extra jobs to keep food on the table, students being affected by the virus, etc he did not care. Tough grader, pop quizzes, and threatens to track your IP address.
He really doesn't care about your circumstances. Missed a pop quiz? No retakes. Missed an assignment? No retakes. He tries to sympathize with you but in the end, he rants about people needing retakes and all that. He replays videos from other lecture classes and the audio/ video quality is awful.
Professor Khollesi doesn't really care about his students taking his class. He would give pop-up discussion posts or quizzes that are due at the end of class so if you miss that class, you will lose points for it, which is surprisingly weighed pretty heavily on your grade. He doesn't care what excuse you give to him, he would not accept late work.
He says he wants to help and make the class easy but no. 0 make-ups, or retakes on anything. the worst thing of all is that he marks assignments due on a certain day, you plan to make time to do it on that day only to click it and find out that part 1 of that assignment was due like 3 days before and you cannot makeup. so you lost a lot of points.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! He is VERY rude and not understanding at all. He doesnt care if were in a pandemic. There are no makeups at all in this class. If you need help, he will not clarify. Instead, he will make you feel bad about not knowing the topic. The only reason why I got a B is because of my lab points. He is a very tough grader.
He was honestly ok, he had recorded lectures that we had to watch so we didn't have to show up for class. A lot of what is on the exams is from the lectures and readings. Assignments are easy, I just had to search up the answers and paraphrased them.
Professor makes everything harder than it is supposed to be; he isn't flexible with anyone's schedule and if we have a personal issue, it's our problem. He is not responsible in regards to publishing modules so we can take exams; I had to wait 30 minutes to take a quiz that locks early and he never responds to his emails. 100% do not recommend.
Does not hold himself to the same standards that he holds his students. Stresses no makeups whatsoever but cannot publish a midterm on time.
Worst professor I have ever experienced. His grading is outrageous and if you get a 0/X your grade will tank 3% no matter the assignment. He does not teach at all and I have learned nothing from him lecturing. If he does lecture he just complains about how we did on past assignments. He doesnt hold himself to same standards he holds himself. Worst
Worst professor I have ever experienced. His grading is outrageous and if you get a 0/X your grade will tank 3% no matter the assignment. Midterm not even available. If he does lecture he just complains about how we did on past assignments. He doesnt hold himself to same standards he holds himself.
He does not care about his students, has a massive ego, and does not know how to teach. He sets high standards for his students but does not hold himself accountable to them. I did not have high expectations, yet I am still disappointed by this teacher. I set the bar so low for him, and he still went under it.
Prof Kahalil does not care about his students time or grades. Gives "clear" grading criteria though he messes up on due dates & if u missed the asgmt he won't let u retake it even if he made the error. Told us midterm was opening at a certain time and did NOT unlock the test and didn't reply to students emails. Very unprofessional & hard, skip him.
Prof. Khollesi's lab was straightforward. 2-3 quizzes each week that cover the lab material that is posted on Canvas.10-15 questions each. Attendance isn't mandatory. As long as you stay on top of your quizzes, you should be good to go.
He does not care about any excuses even if it is valid or truthful. Hope that your assignments are graded by a student assistant, otherwise there is no chance of it getting fixed if need be. He always ignores our questions when we call him out whether it be zoom comment or email. He just read off slides, may as well not show up, he won't notice.
The zoom meetings are not organized and does not answer students' questions. He gives no extension on assignments for which ever excuse you might have because, "we should have planned ahead". He does not teach he just reads off the slides that are already on Canvas. Some assignments you need to get 100% correct or no credit.
Hard to get in contact with him and once you do he does not answer your questions. Reads off the slides for the whole lecture. No extensions what so ever, because "you need to plan ahead". In general just awful.
There are three exams. The professor is not horrible or mean. There is no makeup or extensions.
Professor Khollesi is a great professor. He provides a lot of resources to learn the material and it appeals to whatever learning style you prefer. He's very respectful and really cares for his students. He gives enough time for assignments and as long as you read the material and attend the lectures, you'll do great. I would take him again.
This class was okay, there are no opportunities for late work/extensions which could be tough at times. I hoped that this class would be more engaging, the professor just reads off information from a slideshow the majority of the time. Personally, I would not take another class with this professor.
Great and passionate professor. Very knowledgeable. Students who give bad reviews are not serious. They don't come to class and complain about everything. They should have remained in high school to get matured! He did a great job.
He was very helpful and gave us plenty of time to complete and submit assignments. The lectures were very interesting and my attention was never lost. It up to the student to keep up with the grades and assignments. 10/10 would take a course with Professor Khollesi again!
Very straightforward, and as long as you do the assignments you're good. There is a lot of reading material, but a lot of it is summarized in the powerpoints. The biggest mistake I made was not studying for the midterm, and barely passed it.
This is a big class but it is online. There will be lots of texts for us to ready but the professor provides it to the students, rather than having us to purchase it, which is good. Not that hard if you are able to stay on top of your workload. The professor always put announcements of when things are due.
Classes are mostly lecture, but all text is supplied in case you missed something. Assignments are fairly simple and usually as long as you do them with effort you will receive a good grade. There is a lot of content covered in this course, but I felt that the professor made it easier through the activities planned and the way he taught lectures.
The class is real straightforward just attend the class and do the work and you should be straight
He's a fine professor but he does not give you extension and won't care if you have an excuse whether it is your family's issues. He puts an assignment on one attempt so if you accidentally click submission button without any work then you get a zero. Avoid this class if you have any personal life issues. Overall, it was an okay class.
The professor was good and respectful all year. He is firm on work, but is fair to everyone. Every lecture was different in a way and got my attention. Zoom calls were kind of hard when volume wouldn't work but other than that this course was very interesting and thought me a lot more. Would take the class again for sure!
the assignments are due by the specific due date/time. Late homework assignments submitted past the due date/time will not be graded, and no points will be allocated to late submissions.
Ia be honest I didn't pass because I slacked off a bit. He doesn't let you make up work because he gives you more than two days to complete your homework. But I'll take it again due to the fact that it was online and calm.
I'm taking Professor Khollesi's class online, and I can honestly say it's okay! He does his lectures on zoom. After those slides, you must go to the modules. As long as you review, listen, and read, you'll be able to pass the exams with at least a B. Make sure you read the instructions clearly on the assignment. He does give extra credit, btw
Great professor. Shocked by the few comments I read. He uses PowerPt effectively. He answers all the questions. He cares about u if u do your part & work hard. He is the best. I will take any classes with him. If you don't have time to do the assignments, don't take his class. Don't take any class, that way you don't have to do any assignmen
He teaches based on the power point and gives a lengthy amount of time to complete assignments. Average professor.
I felt that Khollesi was demeaning and quite rude, making me feel like I didn't matter, so I no longer participate in the lectures. He cares not for special needs like Closed Captioning or Annotations. He used a previously recorded lecture from last semester to play back to this semester's class. He's hard to work with.
He's ok, not the worst and not the best pretty easy
Ok I wasn't expecting that I passed with an A but I gave this class a low score because of his teaching style and will accused anyone who cheated even if the exam is online. He will not give you accommodation especially for OSD students and many others. He doesn't care about your personal life so I would avoid him at all cost
